DUNSY ROCK was friendless in the market on debut, but ran a cracker when keeping on well into fourth behind stablemate Sept Etoiles over 2m4f at Down Royal. She should benefit from that experience and hopefully can cope with the testing conditions. Alliteration won a Galway bumper and faced a tough task on her hurdling debut when third to Bambino Fever here over 2m2f last month, with a couple of these rivals well behind. Likealightswitch also enters calculations on her second to Radiator Springs at Clonmel last time, while The Dotski is a half-sister to three winners and any market support would be significant.

Not much strength in depth here and perhaps DUNSY ROCK can build on an eyecatching debut effort at Down Royal to score

Point winner IT'S TOP took a couple of backward steps after landing a Chepstow bumper in November 2024, but he showed more sparkle when second over hurdles at Newbury latest. Although comfortably held by the smart winner, he's unlikely to face anything of a similar calibre here. Lasko Des Obeaux failed to build on a promising hurdling debut when a well-beaten third at Exeter but remains of interest, while Thorneylands appeals most of the remainder.

Three to consider with the vote going to THORNEYLANDS, who makes his hurdles debut after a fine run in a Newcastle bumper in December.

Sam Thomas is enjoying a fine season and Angel Wave must be monitored in the betting on his racecourse debut. Even so, the 124-rated KINGS CHAMPION sets a decent standard judged on his facile victory at Ayr and should take all the beating. Fellow penalised winner Crest Of Stars came good at the second time of asking over hurdles here and is likely to be in the thick of the action too.

Talk To The Man is interesting but KINGS CHAMPION looked useful when scoring over hurdles last month and gets the vote.

SPRINGHILL WARRIOR filled the runner-up spot on debut at Navan last spring and was absent until again taking second behind the odds-on I Started A Joke at Punchestown last month. That form received a boost on Sunday and the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding should progress and go one better. Lincoln Du Seuil won a French bumper and has shown some promise over hurdles, but needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort at Naas. Grandy Lane has gone close in a bumper and over hurdles, while French import Harwa hails from a yard in good form and is one to keep an eye on in the betting.

SPRINGHILL WARRIOR (nap) comes here on the back of 2 good runs in maidens and is expected to see off Lincoln Du Seuil and Harwa

First Confession has yet to truly shine over fences but he does at least have the experience under his belt, which can't be said about his three rivals. However, DELLA CASA LUNGA was a useful hurdler and, on these terms, should be hard to beat if taking to her new discipline. Thank You Ma'am was no slouch over timber either and must enter calculations, but Scarlet Jet has a bit to find.

The mare DELLA CASA LUNGA was the best of these over hurdles and is taken to capitalise on her 7lb allowance on this chasing debut.

WANDERING EGO was far from disgraced on his handicap bow behind two progressive rivals at Kempton and he makes grand appeal reverting to novice company. The six-year-old shapes as if this step up in trip could unlock some improvement and he's fancied to fend off Grand Vendetta. Paul Nicholls' inmate should have learned plenty from his opening second at Chepstow and looks the obvious danger, ahead of stablemate Joyau Allen.

This may go to GRAND VENDETTA who is open to improvement on the back of his debut second at Chepstow. Wandering Ego is the danger.

OLDSCHOOL OUTLAW has progressed really well since joining Gordon Elliott and the recent JP McManus acquisition can complete a hat-trick. The six-year-old took a Listed bumper at Navan in good style before ending the unbeaten record of Bambino Fever when switched to hurdles at Naas. The form of that maiden has been well advertised since and she now has most to fear from Place De La Nation. Willie Mullins' mare was a creditable fifth in the Triumph Hurdle last spring and has won both outings since returning this season, including a facile success when long odds-on here on New Year's Day. Carry On Heidi may prove the pick of the remainder.

Windsor scorer FUTURE BUCKS didn't appear to see out 2m6f at Uttoxeter in December, but Jamie Snowden's charge can bounce back to form at a trip that should be more suitable. Oh Clare impressed at Lingfield and doesn't have too much more to do under the penalty. Rosie Mahler receives 7lb from both and looks to be a real threat.

The attractively bred OH CLARE looks the type to keep on improving and she is taken to follow up her win at Lingfield.

Having made a successful stable bow at Wincanton, Queenie St Clair should have more to come. However, a 6lb penalty does demand more on this switch to a novice hurdle and BEAUTY IN THE PARK is slightly more compelling. The six-year-old left an underwhelming fifth-placed hurdling bow behind her when finishing a close-up second over C&D last month, and a repeat may prove sufficient. Yeld To Call is the pick of the remainder.

SOUND AS A BELL impressively beat Boycetown in a point-to-point and having gained experience over hurdles, the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding takes a drop in class in this maiden for horses who have not finished in the first four under Rules. Don Jefe showed promise when fifth behind The Reverend at Cork and Michael Kenneally again claims a valuable 7lb, while the Ian Donoghue-trained pair Gallant George and Silver Salute are others to consider. Walking Saint has indicated ability on both starts and can't be discounted lightly.

The introduction of blinkers saw Lady In The Park travel with more verve when securing a first chase victory at Perth and there could be more to come. However, she is entitled to need this seasonal debut over a shorter distance and preference is for fellow last-time-out winner CELESTIAL FASHION. Ian Duncan's mare spreadeagled the field at Wetherby and an 8lb higher mark looks surmountable. Ilovethenightlife is also of interest dropping in class.

Last year's third SIMILAR STORY (nap) has dropped to a dangerous mark and there were positive signs at Sedgefield recently.

FOLLY MASTER finished second to Lough Nigara last month, but still retains a favourable hurdles rating and might turn the form around. A capable heavy-ground chaser who finished second in that sphere when rated 130 last April, Tom Dreaper's eight-year-old had his first start over hurdles since January 2024 in the recent Punchestown race and although beaten five and a half lengths by Lough Nigara, he is 6lb better off. Themanintheanorak has been running well and while 2lb higher than when finishing second here in November, his rider is able to claim 7lb.

Well clear of the remainder when chasing home a gambled-on winner over C&D last month, WAKEY WAKEY MAN can go one better here

Having landed the spoils over C&D on his final outing for Micky Hammond, MEDIEVAL GOLD rates as one to keep on side. Now under the tutelage of Patrick Neville, the six-year-old scored with enough in hand to suggest that a 7lb higher mark is workable. Musselburgh winner Kientzheim and Haydock victor Haarar aren't easily dismissed, but a bigger threat may emerge from the class-dropping Smart Decision, who looks more progressive.

In what looks a strong race the progressive THAT ONE can turn the tables on Medieval Gold, who beat him here in November.

BRAVE KINGDOM was fancied to give a decent account on his return this season, only to be pulled up at Newbury in November. However, the combination of a drop in grade and testing underfoot conditions gives Paul Nicholls' gelding the opportunity to bounce back. Royal Jewel has proven to be a versatile performer during his career and is entitled to be competitive, while Bucksy Des Epeires appears best of the remainder.

The most appealing option is ROYAL JEWEL, who has largely been in good form this season and recently had his Chepstow third boosted.

Uptown Harry rolled back the years to account for Shadow Chaser by more than eight lengths at Newcastle, although the runner-up is significantly better off at the weights and has switched from Sandy Thomson to the Mark Walford team. Thomson could still land the spoils with ROB ROY MACGREGOR, who took a step forward to chase home a lightly-raced novice at Ayr and is open to further improvement himself. Super Citizen is worth a look with Brian Hughes back on board.

The rejuvenated Uptown Harry is a very tempting option but preference is for fellow 12yo SUPER CITIZEN, who is 2-2 at Carlisle.

OUR UNCLE JACK is a lightly-raced 10-year-old who came good with a recent wide-margin win at Clonmel and might defy the handicapper's 12lb hike. He had previously shown glimpses of useful ability, scoring at Tramore in 2023, and despite his age, might progress higher than today's rating, with his rider being able to claim 4lb. Uptaurintop showed improvement on his handicap debut when a close third to a subsequent winner at Limerick during Christmas and should be competitive. Verbal Sparring is up 7lb following his Down Royal success and completes the shortlist.

OUR UNCLE JACK revelled in testing ground to win by a long way at Clonmel and can score again.

NEDZOR had disappointing market leader Falco Des Pins well in arrears when second at Ffos Las but after filling the same position at Uttoxeter, he then let favourite-backers down himself when reverting to timber back at the Welsh venue. He will be happier in this sphere, though, and the application of cheekpieces can help him get back on track. Falco Des Pins has undergone wind surgery since that lacklustre display so must not be written off. Jaitroplaclasse and Storming Nelson round out the shortlist.

A ready winner of this race last year (subsequently disqualified), PALAWAN DU MAZET could be hard to beat off a 2lb lower mark.

Connections of MASTERFIELD will have been encouraged by his debut display at Wetherby when he only faded into fourth in the closing stages. The winner has followed up in Listed company to boost the form and the Greenall/Guerriero representative can make it second-time lucky. Marvel Magic didn't build on a decent introduction so one of the newcomers could pose the biggest challenge. Irish Goodbye and 75,000-euro purchase Masked Blagny are particularly appealing.

The tentative choice is the newcomer BARRACILLA, whose stable does well in these events. Irish Goodbye is another likely candidate.

GREEN HINT debuts for Willie Mullins having shown promise for Stuart Crawford. Successful in a point-to-point, he then finished second in a Punchestown Festival bumper which invariably throws up winners and is already working out nicely. It is encouraging he returns for another bumper at this time of year. Lemmy Caution was a beaten favourite on his last two starts and is vulnerable to smart types, while Some See Stars ran well at Fairyhouse last month. Cocofred's dam scored on her introduction and has already produced six winners, including some smart types.

Rian Corcoran was seen to good effect on OUR DYLAN at Wincanton and is back on board after Kayley Woollacott's 10-year-old followed up that victory with a solid third under James Bowen at Ffos Las. Off the same mark, he is preferred to Ourbrowneyedgirl, who made a pleasing beginning to handicap life at Wincanton. A tongue-tie should help It's A Breeze settle better, although it needs to, and Dish Of The Day is worth a look on his comeback.

As good as ever this season and with Rian Corcoran claiming a very useful 7lb, last year's runner-up OUR DYLAN gets the nod.

Having secured a 16th career victory when making all over C&D last week, Harbour Vision merits respect. However, the veteran may have more difficulty dominating this field, with the hat-trick seeking HOW'S THE GUVNOR a more solid proposition. Jennie Candlish's inmate is only 3lb higher than for his ready triumph over track and trip and he looks a step ahead of the assessor. Secret Road is the pick of the remainder.

Secret Road and Bomb Squad are solid but HOW'S THE GUVNOR is in the groove at present and can complete a quick hat-trick.

Although unable to land a blow when fourth as favourite at Newcastle, there is a sneaking suspicion that Betsen can score off his current rating. However, the five-year-old needs a strong pace to aim at and it may be worth chancing likely pacesetter DYRHOLAEY. Archie Watson's charge might get an easy time out in front and could outrun his odds. Coachello was a place behind Betsen last time and is a feasible alternative.

In a trappy event it might be worth chancing CAJETAN on his stable debut. Betsen and Coachello are feared most.

Sparksmith built on his opening Lingfield third when just denied at Chelmsford and debuting on Tapeta shouldn't prevent another good showing. Lovethiswayagain returned from a 182-day break to fill the runner-up spot at the Surrey venue recently and isn't taken lightly. However, HARLEQUIN BAY had a subsequent winner who is now rated 77 behind him when finding only one too good at Newcastle and Richard Fahey's colt shades the verdict.

Harlequin Bay has been threatening but SPARKSMITH went desperately close last time and this could be his day.

Although SKYCUTTER let favourite-backers down at Southwell, his third was still a big improvement on what he had shown in other recent starts. The eight-year-old isn't the most reliable but a race of this nature should be well within his compass, not least because he's been rated much higher in the past. Chelmsford victor Captain Robert merits consideration, as does veteran Billy Bathgate, and Prince Quattro is well worth a second look too.

Further Measure can go well but CAPTAIN ROBERT's Chelmsford win has been franked and he can defy a 4lb rise.

EUPATOR followed up on a recent course win with a C&D success that was equally as impressive and, just as was the case last week, the 5lb penalty might not be enough to stop him. Towerlands has held his form since completing a hat-trick, although he may need the handicapper to relent for now so the class-dropping Urban Road is of greater interest.

Shihoku has a bigger run in him but this looks good for EUPATOR (nap) to complete a quick Wolverhampton hat-trick.

Far Too Fizzy had been threatening to win for weeks prior to his recent Lingfield romp, but a 10lb rise will ask more of him at this higher level and it is GREY HORIZON who shades preference. Scott Dixon's charge completed a hat-trick here last week and a 6lb penalty should not prevent another bold bid. Whizzy Dizzy failed to see out 6f on her latest start so may fare better back at the minimum trip.

He needs to raise his game again to defy a penalty but GREY HORIZON is thriving at present and should be quick enough for 5f.

With many of these having the potential to find improvement, only a tentative vote can go to BERGAMO GOLD. The daughter of Ten Sovereigns has slowly been getting the hang of things since making her debut in August, but she enters handicaps from a potentially workable mark and a step up in trip should help. Popty Ping didn't give her true running at Southwell and the otherwise consistent filly merits respect. Flying Macs is also noted.

Handicap newcomers Hamish Leek, Silver State and MONTU bring untapped potential to a modest contest.
