An open contest in which many will fancy Uncle Bert, who defeated Kilbarry Hill (second) over this C&D last month. Nigel Twiston-Davies landed this 12 months ago and would appear to hold solid claims once again, but a chance is taken on CHASINGOUTTHEBLUES. His stamina came to the fore when leaving it late to win at Ayr recently and the unexposed six-year-old could still have more to offer. Others to note include Supremely West, I Am Max and Jipcot.

It looked unlikely that the strong-travelling JIPCOT would be plying his trade over 3m after placing in the Imperial Cup last spring, but he has been transformed since having wind surgery after a disappointing start to the season, proving better than ever for tackling longer trips. This should be run to suit and he can take this under an ultra-patient ride. There are a host of promising staying types among the rest, notably Nab Wood tackling 3m for the first time and the improving Kilbarry Hill.

This looks competitive but NAB WOOD gets the vote ahead of I Am Max and Minella Sixo.

DIESEL LINE appeared to have more in the tank when filling the runner-up spot over 2m3f at Taunton last month and with a step up in trip promising to suit, the lightly-raced seven-year-old is fancied to go one better. That form has worked out well too, so a subsequent 2lb rise should be no barrier to success. Moor End was narrowly touched off at Warwick last time out and he looks the main danger, although it would be unwise to rule out Mach Ten, who enters handicaps for the first time over hurdles.

DIESEL LINE advanced his form when runner-up in a big-field Taunton handicap last time and with that form having been well advertised since he looks the way to go here. Moor End is feared most on the back of his own good recent Warwick runner-up effort, although handicap-debutant Slide Rule has the potential to have a big say too.

Low-mileage 7yo DIESEL LINE chased home a subsequent winner at Taunton last month and could still be well treated after a 2lb nudge.

The consistent Thank You Ma'am won readily over C&D just before Christmas and, open to further progress over this trip, has major claims despite a 7lb higher mark. However, JILAIJONE, whose yard won the 2023 renewal, was equally impressive when he won over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last month and this step up in trip could be ideal after that wide-margin success. An 8lb higher rating could well be within range for David Pipe's gelding. Greyval, Bective Abbey and Hardy Fella are other solid options for the shortlist.

DUBROVNIK HARRY clearly hasn't been straightforward to train but he was third in a better handicap than this on his last run over hurdles and if he can recapture that form following a short-break, so he's more than capable of winning a race of this nature. The reappearing Bective Abbey is totally unexposed tackling 3 miles for the first time on handicap debut, while Bertie B was unsuited by the run of the race last time and could outrun his odds now stepped up in trip.

Bective Abbey and BOSTON BOY are interesting handicap debutants. Blue Hop, Hardy Fella and Ithaka are in form.

BLUE LEMONS won a soft ground juvenile maiden and was a useful Flat handicapper for Richard Hannon including when placed in the Esher Cup at Sandown reaching a rating of 99. He looks a smart recruit to hurdles for the champion trainer, although there may be some stamina concerns having never raced beyond a mile. Kool One showed a much lower level of form on the Flat winning a 1m6f Navan handicap off a mark of 58 but ran a cracker on his hurdle debut at Naas last month. Conor Maxwell's charge had Stiltellinemnuttin five lengths behind in fifth, with San Hilario in eighth, when placed behind the odds-on Charlus. Radar Ahead showed some decent placed form on the Flat.

BLUE LEMONS boasts useful form on the level and will be hard to beat if taking to this discipline. Kool One looks the obvious danger on form, whilst Hudson can also make his presence felt.

Triumph Hurdle entry Kool One holds strong claims but may have to give best to classy Flat recruit BLUE LEMONS who handles soft

It might pay to side with GIVE IT TO ME OJ. The gelded son of Time Test shaped with promise on his hurdling debut in October, where he finished third in behind Triumph hopeful East India Dock. He should have learned plenty from that experience and, with his yard coming into some form, a bold bid is expected. Marche D'aligre chased home talented French hurdler Nieztsche Has in a Grade 2 at Chepstow in December and is perhaps the main threat, although Lavender Hill Mob and Gibbs Island can't be underestimated.

MARCHE D'ALIGRE excelled himself when runner-up pitched into Grade 2 company at Chepstow and that looks to be the best form on offer. There's plenty of potential on show, though, with Give It To Me OJ and Gibbs Island open to lots of progress.

The Moore stable has won the last three runnings of this race and GIVE IT TO ME OJ can make it four in a row.

BURDETT ROAD boasts a rating of 111 on the level and he made a successful return to hurdles when landing the Greatwood in November. Far from disgraced in behind the mighty Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle on Boxing Day, he doesn't face anything of a similar ilk today and looks to hold excellent credentials now eased in class. Golden Ace has yet to scale the heights she did last season but a drop in trip could spark a revival. Brentford Hope was perhaps flattered to finish three lengths behind Constitution Hill at Cheltenham three weeks ago, but he would not be far away with a similar level of performance.

GOLDEN ACE has been crying out for a return to 2m and this race could be tailor-made for Jeremy Scott's star. Greatwood winner Burdett Road excelled himself in the Christmas Hurdle, leading until 2 out and likely to have finished even closer had he not belted the last. He's the forecast selection ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies for the first time.

Greatwood winner BURDETT ROAD has outstanding form credentials in today's company and he should get a freebie up front.

This race was nominated for JINGKO BLUE straight after his ready success in a Grade 2 at Windsor last month and provides the son of Great Pretender with a fitting challenge now he has proven a three-mile stamina test can bring the best out of him. A 5lb penalty obvious makes thing tougher for Nicky Henderson's six-year-old. However, he had enough to spare over Lowry's Bar (runner-up) at Windsor to suggest he can cement his authority. The Changing Man and Peaky Boy have something to find on the ratings but are fully entitled to take their chance.

A rematch from last month's Grade 2 Hampton at Windsor, with JINGKO BLUE taken to confirm his superiority over Lowry's Bar despite having to concede 5 lb to him on this occasion. The selection's former stablemate Peaky Boy also has the form to be bang there.

The rematch between Lowry's Bar and Jingko Blue looks tight. THE CHANGING MAN and Peaky Boy are interesting alternatives.

KITZBUHEL won a juvenile hurdle in France and made a bright start for current connections when beating Colonel Mustard by nearly four lengths at Punchestown. Paul Townend again takes the ride in preference to Sir Gerhard whose form has fallen back from the heights which brought him two Grade 1 victories at the Cheltenham Festival. Beacon Edge has been campaigned at a high level over a variety of trips this season winning the bet365 Hurdle over 3m at Wetherby and placed behind Lossiemouth in the Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse. Break My Soul won twice for Nicky Henderson last year and has now joined Ian Donoghue.

The manner in which KITZBUHEL accounted for a Graded performer at Punchestown on debut for new connections suggests he's very talented and with Sir Gerhard hard to predict these days, he should go in again.

Impressive on his Irish debut at Punchestown, KITZBUHEL looks to have been found a good opportunity here

THE FLIER BEGLEY was in command when defeating Nocte Volatus (second) in a similar event at Market Rasen last month and despite being 4lb worse off with that rival, Gary Hanmer's in-form 10-year-old is expected to confirm his superiority. Whistleinthedark was no match for an impressive winner at Warwick, but that effort signalled a return to form and he merits respect. Eaton Collina is noted too.

It could be worth chancing WHISTLEINTHEDARK, who took a big step back in the right direction when second on first crack in veterans' company at Warwick last week and he's potentially very well treated if building on that. The Flier Begley and Nocte Volatus who finished 1-2 at Market Rasen 4 weeks ago head up the dangers.

Gary Hanmer has done an excellent job with THE FLIER BEGLEY, who is taken to follow up last month's win at Market Rasen.

THUNDER N LIGHTNIN has shown promise over hurdles, but chasing ought to be more his game and Harry Derham's gelding receives a tentative vote in what looks a moderate contest. Good Friday Fairy didn't see out an extended 2m7f at Lingfield last time but, with cheekpieces applied for the first time and dropped in trip, it would come as no surprise to see an improved performance. Bertie Wooster is another to consider.

Granted a clean round of jumping, ABINGWORTH could be the answer. The 7-y-o was a C&D scorer on his sole previous visit here last March and is now 3 lb below that winning mark. Having shown promise in a trio of novice hurdles, Thunder N Lightnin is of strong interest switched to fences for his up-and-coming yard and he rates the main danger ahead of Good Friday Fairy.

Thunder N Lightnin is feared but GOOD FRIDAY FAIRY could be worth chancing off a tempting mark and with cheekpieces added.
Class & Speed Card

The still low-mileage Altobelli is an obvious starting point after his C&D win last month and should make a bold bid to overcome a 5lb higher mark. Joyeux Machin is also high on the shortlist after hinting at a revival at Wetherby a fortnight ago. However, a low weight has been beneficial in recent renewals and, with that in mind, the progressive PATRIOTIK could be worth chancing on the back of a good second at this level over 2m4f at Aintree on Boxing Day. Classic King and Country Park are other appealing each-way options.

Plenty to consider but the eye is drawn to JOYEUX MACHIN. Having offered little in a brace of outings over 2m upon joining Dan Skelton, he shaped with abundant promise upped in trip at Wetherby last time and with Harry Skelton on for the first time, a big run is surely forthcoming. Altobelli reacted really well to cheekpieces when successful over C&D last time and his revised mark is perfectly fair, with Country Park also considered at longer odds for this handicap debut.

Preference is for PATRIOTIK (nap), who has very strong form and should have a race of this nature in him. Altobelli is second pick.
Class & Speed Card

Gavin Cromwell holds a strong hand here and perhaps CRESCENT MOON will prove the pick. She was second to Blue Mosque on her only bumper start at Naas last year and after showing some promise in decent maiden hurdles, filled the runner-up spot on her handicap debut at Cork last month. Conor Stone-Walsh now takes off a valuable 5lb and she's preferred to stablemate Bridie's Beau who has been raised a hefty 14lb for a decisive win at Punchestown last month. Find A Fortune, Killaney King and Iamagetaway are three for the shortlist while Therellbguddaysyet and Krabat are both consistent sorts who look sure to give a good account.

Gavin Cromwell has a trio of interesting runners and the most appealing could be CRESCENT MOON who was only raised 4 lb for her eye-catching second last month and could come out on top ahead of stablemate Bridie's Beau, who remains unexposed despite a 15 lb hike for his latest win. Killaney King should improve if settling in a first-time hood, while Krabat might be capable of outrunning his odds.

Gavin Cromwell holds a strong hand, principally with Punchestown winner Bridie's Beau and the Cork eyecatcher CRESCENT MOON (nap)

Beauport made the frame in the Long Walk at Ascot when last seen just before Christmas and he could be hard to catch if allowed an easy lead once again. However, marginal preference is for BOTOX HAS, who won this contest 12 months ago and looked to be coming back to form when third in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. Nemean Lion has to prove himself over this distance but holds the ability to go well if seeing it out.

BEAUPORT will take a bit of pegging back if in anything like the same form as when second in the Grade 1 Long Walk at Ascot in December. With doubts about the classy Nemean Lion's stamina tackling 3m for the first time it could be that the chief threat comes from last year's winner Botox Has.

Preference is for last year's winner BOTOX HAS, who is bidding to make it 3-3 at Haydock. Beauport is a big danger.

Pure Carbon would take some stopping if reproducing the form of his Warwick second in October, but his subsequent defeats at Newbury and Huntingdon leave him with something to prove. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a chance on hurdles debutant STAR ARTIST. Hughie Morrison's charge finished a respectable third on his seasonal bow in a bumper at Southwell in December and, if taking to this discipline, a breakthrough victory may beckon. The Sainted Canary completes the shortlist.

THE SAINTED CANARY should progress from last month's encouraging hurdles debut at Taunton and is taken to open his account. Seventeenothree and Star Artist both showed ability in bumpers and may provide the chief threat.

There's very little depth to this maiden and a back-to-form PURE CARBON would have every chance. Star Artist is next best.
Class & Speed Card

Three-time C&D winner VICTTORINO stayed on well to land the Silver Cup just before Christmas and, upped 3lb, he looks the one to side with in a bid to bring up the double. Snipe was far from disgraced when third in the Great Yorkshire at Doncaster last month and he has to be of interest off an unchanged mark, while Hasthing looks to be in the fast lane of improvement and completes the shortlist off a career-high mark.

Plenty are in with a shout but Venetia Williams' VICTTORINO is building up an impressive record round here so is fancied to make light of a 3 lb rise for his Silver Cup victory and bag a fourth C&D success. The upwardly-mobile Hasthing rates a big danger though in his hat-trick bid, while last year's winner Threeunderthrufive and resurgent Newbury runner-up Wiseguy can also have a say. Terresita completes the shortlist in this cracking handicap.

In receipt of weight all round, SNIPE could well regain the winning thread. Improving novice Hasthing is second choice.

SAINT SAM made all to easily land this race on testing ground 12 months ago and may repeat the trick. The selection has proved a great money-spinner for connections and gained another Grade 2 success in the Clonmel Oil Chase before filling the runner-up spot when reverting to hurdles last time. Stablemate Classic Getaway should benefit from a couple of outings last month including when runner-up to Appreciate It at Thurles, while Journey With Me impressed when taking a Fairyhouse Grade 2 over a similar trip last spring but has proved disappointing on both starts this term.

Having brought up a hurdles/chase hat-trick at Clonmel in November, SAINT SAM lost little caste in defeat when runner-up back over hurdles at Punchestown 46 days ago. He can quickly resume winning ways, with his stablemate Classic Getaway selected to provide the chief threat.

This race revolves around last year's winner SAINT SAM. He is preferred by Townend and may be able to dominate in this small field
Class & Speed Card

ROYALE PAGAILLE may have disappointed when favourite for the Peter Marsh here last month, but the veteran can be given another chance based on his previous performances at this venue. That includes back-to-back victories in the Betfair Chase and Venetia Williams' gelding should not be underestimated. Val Dancer accounted for Jubilee Express (second) when winning the Welsh Grand National in December and they both have to be of interest as a result. Last year's winner Yeah Man is another with claims.

YEAH MAN was a ready winner of this event 12 months ago and has shown enough in a couple of starts this season to suggest he has another staying handicap in him. He can take the prize home again. There are plenty of dangers, however, with Git Maker and Apple Away particularly feared.

Five are out of the handicap, notably Welsh National one-two Val Dancer and Jubilee Express. The vote goes to APPLE AWAY (nap).

Having been sandwiched between two subsequent winners when second at Exeter on New Year's Day, compensation could be on the cards for RISK DE PLUIE. A 2lb nudge up in the ratings looks on the lenient side for Ben Clarke's gelding and he appears ready to open his account over fences. Quick Sharpener returned to form with a solid second at Newcastle last month and the eight-year-old may give most resistance to the selection, ahead of Famoso.

Preference is for QUICK SHARPENER, who left his low-key comeback run well behind when finding just one too good at Newcastle. It's early days for this 8-y-o over fences and he's probably capable of better than his current mark implies. Hatos has edged down the weights and is second choice, albeit only marginally as both Risk de Pluie and Famoso also merit respect.

Ben Clarke's RISK DE PLUIE could be a chaser on the upgrade and his Exeter conqueror won easily at Chepstow this week.

Corbetts Cross wasn't disgraced when finishing sixth in the King George over 3m at Kempton and he warrants respect, though there is a suspicion that he may find things happening too quickly for him over this reduced trip. That said, last year's winner PIC D'ORHY gets the vote. The 10-year-old took advantage of an excellent opportunity when scoring over C&D on his seasonal reappearance in November and that should have put him cherry ripe for another tilt at this. Runner-up behind the selection in this last year, L'Homme Presse boasts strong credentials following his Cotswold Chase success at Cheltenham last month.

Last year's winner PIC D'ORHY goes particularly well here and makes plenty of appeal in his quest to take the prize home again. Likeliest dangers L'Homme Presse and Corbetts Cross would both prefer stiffer tests of stamina but the former filled the runners-up berth 12 months ago and may do so again.

Solid PIC D'ORHY is taken to follow up last year's win. Corbetts Cross and L'Homme Presse are the biggest dangers on ratings.

A step up in trip now over fences may prove the key for WHAT'S UP DARLING. The Shirocco gelding has been knocking on the door since going chasing and ran another solid race when third to Special Cadeau at Thurles nine days ago. That was over two miles and the point-to-point winner may benefit from going another half mile. Blizzard Of Oz was third over course and distance last month and looks the pick of the Willie Mullins-trained quartet. He didn't seem to see out the trip last time but has to be respected. Lombron ran a promising race when fourth on his chase debut at Naas and may get a bit closer to stablemate Blizzard Of Oz now.

HARRY DES ONGRAIS shaped with plenty of encouragement when fifth on his chase debut over an inadequate trip at Fairyhouse, an effort that was all the more meritorious considering that it was his first outing on the back of a 21-month absence. He shades preference ahead of Blizzard of Oz and What's Up Darling.

Blizzard Of Oz looks the most likely of the Mullins' quartet but narrow preference is for the experienced WHAT'S UP DARLING

MOON ROCKET looks a stayer with bags of potential and he confirmed that when finishing a narrow runner-up in the River Don over an extended 3m at Doncaster last month. With the promise of more to come, he can get back in the winning groove. Point-to-point winner Kepler's Law scored with the minimum of fuss over an extended 2m4f at Leicester and, tackling this trip for the first time under Rules, he could emerge as the main danger, ahead of Derryhassen Paddy.

DERRYHASSEN PADDY has looked a good prospect when winning all 4 of his starts in varied company, showing a very willing attitude in a Windsor novice last month, and he can take this step up in grade in his stride. Heading the list of dangers is Moon Rocket, who shaped well when edged out close home in the River Don at Doncaster, with Kepler's Law also one to note.

The unbeaten DERRYHASSEN PADDY has star potential and earns the vote ahead of Moon Rocket, who went close in a recent Grade 2.

A lengthy absence was no barrier to DE TELLERS FORTUNE making a winning handicap/chase debut when he gained a hard-fought success under James Bowen at Taunton in December. With the same jockey retained and the likelihood of improvement now he has some experience in this discipline, a 6lb higher rating might not be enough to prevent the lightly-raced six-year-old from following up over this longer trip. Course hat-trick seeker Pedley Wood is the most obvious danger, although the first-time visor could initiate a revival from The Wrekin.

DE TELLERS FORTUNE showed improved form when making a winning return/chase debut at Taunton 46 days ago, seeing of a next-time-out winner in the process. He's one to be interested in for his powerful stable and is expected to make another bold bid from this 6 lb higher mark. C&D Pedley Wood is compiling a very solid record over fences and he's feared. Enjoy Your Life is another with a shout if bouncing back from a lesser run late last year.

Lightly raced 6yo DE TELLERS FORTUNE (nap) made a very good start to his chasing career at Taunton and could be hard to beat.

Piperstown was rounding out a hat-trick when he won at Wolverhampton on Tuesday and should go well with Lauren Frost negating the penalty incurred courtesy of her 5lb claim in the saddle. However, it was a deeper race that the in-from JESSE LUC won over C&D 15 days ago and he shades the vote off just 3lb higher. So Grateful is a three-time course winner who also commands respect on these terms.

A couple of thriving ones here in PIPERSTOWN and Jesse Luc, with Kevin Frost's charge taken to land a 4-timer. So Grateful, the subject of strong market support on a few occasions this winter, could go well also.

This could be between thriving pair JESSE LUC and Piperstown, with Jesse Luc earning the vote having won over C&D last time.

KINGSTON PRIDE pulled up in the Grade 2 Winter Novices' Hurdle at Sandown in December and a 71-day break could prove just the tonic. Nicky Henderson's gelding had previously looked one to follow when making a winning hurdles bow at Uttoxeter and is taken to resume his progress. The biggest threat may emerge from Crest Of Fortune, who has filled the runner-up berth on his last two outings, ahead of First Confession.

With the highly promising Just A Rose ruled out, this now looks pretty open. CREST OF FORTUNE hasn't done a great deal wrong in his three starts over hurdles to date and left the strong impression that this step back up in trip would be in his favour when again finding just one too good at Exeter on New Year's Day. Anthony Honeyball's charge gets the nod ahead of First Confession and Kingston Pride, both of whom looked promising prior to low-key performances in graded company last time.

The percentage call goes to C&D winner FIRST CONFESSION, ahead of Crest Of Fortune and Kingston Pride.

PRINCE ZALTAR ran well on his return from an absence at Punchestown last month and is on a nice weight here. The eight-year-old was progressive over hurdles last season and looks on an attractive mark over fences compared. He bumped into a nice sort, in Nine Graces, on his comeback run. Better Times Ahead is one of three JP McManus runners and could be a danger on his return. The Walk In The Park gelding was runner-up on his final two starts of last season, losing out narrowly at Punchestown when last seen. Midweek Voices was a good winner last month and has to be respected despite taking a rise in grade now.

BATTLE OF RIDGEWAY gets the vote to build on an encouraging comeback run at Fairyhouse last month. His stablemate Soloman Lane was ahead of him in third at Fairyhouse and should go well again. Baldur's Gate and the returning Better Times Ahead also make the shortlist.

PRINCE ZALTAR shaped with lots of promise after an absence at Punchestown last month and the booking of Darragh O'Keefe catches the eye

DOUBLETHETROUBLE was only beaten a neck into second over 2m at Southwell a couple of weeks ago and the seven-year-old tops the shortlist off just a 1lb higher mark here. Swinging London has been in good form of late and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Mafia Power edges out Weddell Sea to be best of the rest.

Preference is for DOUBLETHETROUBLE, who ran a cracker at Southwell last time and remains fairly treated. Mafia Power and Swinging London are feared most.

The one who appeals most is DOUBLETHETROUBLE, who did well to go close at Southwell two weeks ago and is only 1lb higher here.

In what looks a trappy affair on paper, MY DROGO gets a tentative nod. He was a very smart performer in his pomp and, having won a point-to-point over 3m for these connections last month, he's very interesting. Jet Plane was last seen running out a comfortable winner over 3m at Wetherby and a repeat of that effort should see him go well again. Hollow Games and Take All are a couple of others to consider.

A few with chances but FAMOUS CLERMONT looks the pick at these weights so gets the verdict at the chief expense of Irish-challenger Hollow Games. Jet Plane and My Drogo enter calculations too.

A hot hunter chase to finish with. JET PLANE easily won one of these at Wetherby a fortnight ago and is taken to follow up.

BADBURY RINGS showed marked improvement when stepped up to 3m on his last two starts and could be tough to overhaul if he continues to flourish in the same manner. His second-placed finish at Taunton most recently reads well and there should be more to come on just his third start in a handicap. Point-to-pointer winner Western Harmony is feared most, with this longer distance likely to be beneficial on his handicap debut. Copshill Lad is a notable alternative with last month's return under his belt.

BADBURY RINGS likely has more to offer and can go one better than at Taunton last month. Western Harmony and Briefly are possible improvers in handicaps for good stables and may give Neil Mulholland's charge most to do.

This return to further should be just the ticket for TIME IN THE SUN who just kept on galloping when placed here in December.

BLUE ANTHEM, a 170,000gns breeze-up purchase, boasts and attractive pedigree and is highly appealing on the back of his winning handicap debut at Wolverhampton at the start of this month. A 3lb higher mark should be manageable, as should the step up to a mile. Squires Treaty has C&D experience and is feared most on that basis, while Ventura Dream is an interesting handicap debutant.

BLUE ANTHEM left his previous efforts behind on handicap debut when opening his account at Wolverhampton last time, having no trouble with the step up in trip, and he can continue his progress to follow up. Squires Treaty has placed on all 3 starts in handicaps and is next on the list, with Sweet Cicely interesting as she tries 1m for the first time.

The pick is BLUE ANTHEM, who launched his handicap career with a recent 7f win and could have plenty of untapped potential over 1m.

BELLE LE GRAND justified strong support in the market when gaining a breakthrough victory in a bumper at Fairyhouse for previous handler Yvonne Latta in October. Now under the tutelage of Dan Skelton, the six-year-old looks more than capable of defying a 4lb penalty and she's taken to follow up. There was plenty to like about Jackie Hobbs' opening victory under Rules at Ludlow 73 days ago and she's feared most, ahead of Neon Madonna.

A £130,000 purchase on the back of success in her only start in points, JACKIE HOBBS looked a good prospect when winning a Ludlow bumper on Rules debut 73 days ago. Open to improvement, she looks a big player again for the Harry Derham yard. Belle Le Grand starts out for the Skeltons having made her final start in Ireland a winning one and she's the chief threat. Harry Fry pair Just A Heartbeat and Neon Madonna can do battle for minor honours.

This will probably concern JACKIE HOBBS and Belle Le Grand. The selection won in spite of modest fractions at Ludlow.

INTROVERSIO was beaten at a short price on her debut at Punchestown last month and may be able to make amends now. The Vadamos filly made the running before fading a touch late on to finish fourth behind Forceonmyown. With that run under her belt she can step forward now. Gordon Elliott is represented by point-to-point recruit Kenisa Sport and she has to be respected. The No Risk At All filly was runner-up between the flags at Boulta in December. Champagne Venture was a solid third at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and is another contender.

The fact that INTROVERSIO went off at 1/2 on debut suggests she's well regarded by the Willie Mullins team and she's given another chance. Gordon Elliott has won this race 3 times since 2019 and his point recruit Kenisa Sport rates an obvious danger. Gavin Cromwell newcomer Doing It In Style would also enter the reckoning if the betting suggests she's fancied.

Preference is for CHAMPAGNE VENTURE who shaped with promise behind the subsequent Grade 2 winner Bambino Fever at Punchestown last time

HIGH COURT JUDGE arrives here having won his last four starts and a 4lb rise for the most recent of those wins may not be enough to stop him here. That said, Show No Fear hit the crossbar over C&D on his most recent outing and should not be underestimated. Jujubella is another with valid form claims, while Percy Willis completes the shortlist.

HIGH COURT JUDGE arrives at the top of his game and hasn't been harshly treated for his latest success. He can extend his winning run. Show No Fear and Fast Fred should also go well.

Top of the list is the resurgent 5yo HIGH COURT JUDGE (nap), who has won four in a row and found plenty at Wolverhampton 12 days ago.

RISK created the impression there are races to be won with him when a promising third at Wolverhampton 12 days ago. Having started slowly that day before meeting trouble in running, that run can be upgraded and he appeals with an additional furlong granting him more time to find his rhythm. Crest Of Light has been knocking on the door and rates another strong contender, while Eva Dickson and Callout are others to keep an eye on.

CREST OF LIGHT proved a different proposition sent handicapping when second at this C&D in December (the winner has scored again since) and he could be ready to strike having found the drop back in trip against him last time. Risk should also be suited by the return to 1m and can make his presence felt, while Eva Dickson remains capable of better.

He flopped a fortnight ago but ANTIQUITY finished strongly to score on his handicap debut two runs ago and remains of interest.

LORD CAPULET confirmed the promise that he displayed on debut when filling second place over 7f here last month. With more improvement likely, the son of Make Believe could be hard to stop. Volendam has a similar profile to the selection and has to be of interest, while Fan Mail is another with valid form claims. Last Shamardal is closely related to plenty of winners and any market support for him would have to be noted.

The drop to 6f looks a good move for LORD CAPULET, who gave it a good shot from the front in a 7f maiden here last time, in what was probably a stronger race than this. Conversely, Volendam is moving up in trip after also finding just one too good here in January and, with further improvement on the cards, she could be the biggest threat to the selection. Fan Mail is best of the rest, though confidence behind any of the newcomers in the betting would be worthy of note.

Volendam, Fan Mail and LORD CAPULET are all quite closely matched on the figures, but the vote goes to Kevin Ryan's colt.

The penny has really dropped for Gaiety Musical, who completed a quick-fire hat-trick when always just doing enough over 1m at Kempton on Wednesday. However, those wins all came over further and she was soundly beaten on her only previous start here, so she could be vulnerable now eased in trip and returned to Southwell under a 5lb penalty. Course winner ENOLA GREY ran out of gas close home when third over 1m here last week and, off a 1lb lower mark, she looks set for a big run now back over 7f. Quandary has run well in defeat the last twice.

This could go the way of ENOLA GREY, who arrives in good form having bumped into a couple of well-treated rivals when third at this course 8 days ago. She can open her account for the year back down in grade, though Gaiety Musical isn't taken lightly in her bid for the 4-timer. Quandary is another who enters calculations from her current mark.

David Evans' mare GAIETY MUSICAL is thriving at present and is selected to extend her winning spree.

FLORIDA DAWN was able to build on an encouraging debut when landing a similar C&D event a fortnight ago and, in receipt of weight from her two most likely competitors, Charlie Johnston's filly can repeat the dose. Miraculous isn't guaranteed to stay this trip and he will need to settle better than he has been so far. Roger Varian's colt merits respect nonetheless, while Kameel, who made a winning debut over track and trip in December, appeals most of the remainder.

MIRACULOUS still looked a touch green when chasing home a potentially useful type in a 6f Lingfield novice last month and, with this step up in trip likely to be in his favour, the Too Darn Hot colt is taken to resume winning ways. Kameel and Florida Dawn should both have more to offer, too, and are feared most in that order of preference.

A trappy race. KAMEEL impressed with how he moved through the race en route to winning here 56 days ago.

Vocal Legend sets the standard with a pair of runner-up finishes over 7f and is sure to be very popular in this very winnable 6f contest. However, the Charlie Hills-trained colt was doing his best work at the finish on both occasions and a drop in trip may not be ideal here, so it could be worth taking him on with ADVERSARY. While no match for the winner when second over this C&D 15 days ago, that was an improvement on last year's debut and there should be more to come from him. 80,000-pound newcomer Dream Out Loud represents an in-form yard and warrants respect.

VOCAL LEGEND is steadily progressive, and he can put his experience to use to land an ordinary looking novice, ahead of interesting newcomer Dream Out Loud. Adversary can prove best of the rest.

Dream Out Loud is an interesting newcomer but VOCAL LEGEND looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark.

Tempus has slowly been edging down the handicap and there were more encouraging signs at Wolverhampton last time out. Archie Watson's charge can go close, but he might be vulnerable to younger legs and it is INDALO that gets the vote. Worth more than the winning margin would suggest over C&D in November, the Phoenix Of Spain gelding enters handicaps from a potentially workable mark and is likely to mount a bold bid as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record. Longhaired General bolted up in maiden company when last seen in December and is not without a chance returned to handicaps.

INDALO looks to start handicaps on a good mark so Roger Varian's 4-y-o is fancied to go 3-3. Fellow C&D scorer Dingle is weighted to have a say while Longhaired General is another with winning form at the track who is also worth considering.

Well-handicapped veteran TEMPUS kept on well for third at Wolverhampton recently and could be ready to end a long losing run.

Given the form of his head second over 6f at Kempton last month has been boosted by the third and fourth winning since, an opening mark of 74 could underestimate LEADENHALL STREET and James Fanshawe's gelding is fancied to go one better on his handicap debut. Gelding and wind operations sparked improvement in Mighty Ruler, who went close on his handicap bow at Wolverhampton in November, and he looks the main threat, ahead of Midnight City and Dandy Magic.

LEADENHALL STREET shaped well when dropped to 6f for the first time at Kempton last month and can strike on handicap debut, perhaps at the main expense of Psychodrama who was a good second in a similar race at Lingfield last week. The shortlist is completed by Dandy Magic who should benefit from the return to 6f and has Billy Loughnane doing the steering.

Dandy Magic has more to offer on AW but LEADENHALL STREET (nap) is a handicap newcomer of some interest.

Brazilian Rose's stamina may have been stretched when finishing a close-up third over 7f here 25 days ago and she cannot be taken lightly reverting to 6f. However, Rebecca Menzies' filly is now 5lb higher in the ratings and BEALE STREET is slightly more compelling. The four-year-old arrives on the back of a staying-on third over C&D and compensation could be on the cards racing off an unchanged mark. Fellow in-form rival Biplane is also noted.

A case can be made for a few of these but C&D winner BEALE STREET rates the pick of the weights so edges the vote. Course-scorer Dark Kestral heads the list of dangers, with Novak, Biplane, Ormolulu and Brazilian Rose all in the picture too.

Brazilian Rose has made excellent progress but Beale Street and SIBYL CHARM also come right into the reckoning.

DASH GORDON appeared to hang under pressure when finishing runner-up over C&D last week but, nudged up 2lb and now sporting cheekpieces for the first time, he could atone for that near-miss. King Of The Jungle wasn't disgraced when third over this track and trip last time out and he must be of interest off an unchanged mark. It's Showtime completes the shortlist.

KING OF THE JUNGLE did well to get third over C&D last time after fluffing the start and may be able to resume winning ways in first-time headgear if getting away better this time. Nelson Gay heads the dangers along with last week's C&D 1-2 Stone of Destiny and Dash Gordon.

An intriguing race can go to SIR BENEDICT who had no luck in running behind Stone Of Destiny and Dash Gordon here last week.

REBECCA'S GIRL scored over a furlong shorter at this venue seven days ago with something in hand and she makes plenty of appeal remaining in class 6 company. Although a 6lb rise in the ratings demands more from the five-year-old, a double could be imminent. The biggest threat may emerge from fellow last-time-out winner Flash The Dash, while recent C&D runner-up Pallas Lord should give another good account.

ELETTARIA holds leaing claims on thhe terms, and is preferred to Flash The Dash and Concert Boy.

The signs are that PALLAS LORD is going to follow up last year's success in this race. Rebecca's Girl is second choice.

INIT TOGETHER has notched up four wins from as many starts for this yard and, on the back of a ready victory over C&D last time out, he gets the vote to go in again off 3lb higher. Mr Nugget was well backed when finishing fourth over further at Kempton last time out and he merits respect off an unchanged mark, while Khangai is another to consider.

INIT TOGETHER scored with enough in hand when landing his four-timer to suggest that a fifth victory is well within his capabilities. Mr Nugget is progressing in his own right but looks to have bumped into one here, and his turn may come down the line. James Owen's brace of runners, the consistent Khangai and stable-debutant Market House, are both worthy of an honourable mention.

The betting will be helpful regarding Market House but as things stand INIT TOGETHER is taken to extend his fine run for this yard.
Ths is the racecard key.
