Yellow Jacket

10/3(+17%)
(7) Yellow Jacket 10/3, Maiden who ran well behind a subsequent winner over C&D in December but ran disappointingly when fifth of 6 in handicap chase at Market Rasen (17.2f) in January. Not out of things if he can shrug that off. Tongue tie applied.
Needs to bounce back from a poor show at Market Rasen and now has tongue tied first time.

Malpas

9/1(-13%)
(1) Malpas 9/1, A fair winner at 17f over hurdles in early 2022 who made a much better fist of things on second chase try (following wind op) when third on return at Carlisle (2m) in December. May have found stamina stretched back up at 20f at Leicester since and this is more suitable.
Not so good yet over fences; has a lower chase mark too but others are more persuasive.

(2) Happy Du Mesnil 8/1, Maiden hurdler who made mistakes and never figured on sole chase try in late 2022. Offered little back from 14 months off over hurdles at Southwell in January and only market support would make him of significant interest on return to chasing for new stable. Cheekpieces on.
Out of form; headgear enlisted on this first run for new connections.

(5) Thatza Dazzler 6/4, Offered little before causing a surprise to open account over fences at Ludlow (2m, heavy) 7 days ago, settling better than previously and well served by coming off a strong gallop. Whether he can reproduce that form under a penalty is open to question, however.
20-1, comfortably won a ten-runner novice handicap at Ludlow (2m, soft) last Wednesday.

14:20 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Thatza Dazzler picked up the pieces in a strongly-run affair when opening his account at Ludlow last week. It remains to be seen whether the six-year-old can back that performance up, but he warrants consideration shouldering a 7lb penalty. David Brace's charge is likely to be priced accordingly, so it could be worth taking a chance on handicap/chase debutant SHADY B. The Saint Des Saints gelding boasts some fair form between the flags and his opening mark looks workable. Yellow Jacket also makes some appeal.

YELLOW JACKET needs to shrug off a lesser effort at Market Rasen but he'd previously ran well when chasing home a next-time-out winner over C&D and could be worth siding with to bounce back equipped with a first-time tongue strap. His stablemate Malpas and chase debutant Shady B head up the dangers in a trappy opener.

Last week's Ludlow winner THATZA DAZZLER should have a fine chance to follow up if he's in the same form.

(6) Passing Kate 7/4, Still not too long with this yard and showed improved form to get off the mark at Leicester (15.5f, heavy) in November. Sound placed efforts both starts since, latterly in a race which has worked out particularly well, and she holds similar claims again back down in trip.
Latest effort has been nicely franked and this drop back in trip looks another plus.

(5) Ezmerellda 2/1, Fair maiden on the Flat and left hurdling debut behind when scoring with plenty in hand at Doncaster in December. Not disgraced in listed company there the following month and looks on fair mark now switched to a handicap for yard who had similar type run well last week.

Absent since falling two out (held a narrow lead at the time) in this race last year.

14:35 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

PASSING KATE was unfortunate to bump into two subsequent winners when finishing third at Leicester last month. This drop in trip won't hamper her bid and the seven-year-old looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to regain the winning thread. Ezmerellda receives a handy 12lb weight-for-age allowance, although she will need to prove herself in the testing conditions. With that in mind, a bigger threat may emerge from Miss Marette, who has since undergone a wind procedure since finishing third over C&D in November.

EZMERELLDA looks on a fair mark switched to handicap company and can take advantage of her weight allowance to score for the second time over hurdles. Passing Kate has held her form well since joining Matt Sheppard and represents a strong-looking Leicester formline, so merits plenty of respect, with Konigin Isabella also respected after a year off.

Preference is for PASSING KATE, who looks a very solid option on recent form. Ezmerellda is feared most.

14:50 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A 5lb rise in the ratings wasn't enough to prevent BREEZE OF WIND from completing a hat-trick at Carlisle earlier in the month. Stuart Coltherd's gelding looks more than capable of defying this 6lb higher mark and a four-timer could be on the cards. Stable/chase debutant Montgomery is a potential fly in the ointment now under the tutelage of Venetia Williams and any market support for the seven-year-old would be interesting, while first-time blinkers could spark Domandlouis' interest.

BREEZE OF WIND is firmly on the up and looks the obvious play in his bid for the four-timer. That said, King of Brazil had something to spare at Huntingdon last time and Montgomery is an intriguing runner for a new stable, so both could trouble the selection.

Breeze Of Wind is not opposed at all lightly and Montgomery is feared, but KING OF BRAZIL may well complete his double.

15:05 Wincanton Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Representing the in-form Nigel Twiston-Davies yard, TEDLEY ran close to his best when runner-up at Ffos Las earlier this month. A breakthrough victory could be imminent for the five-year-old, particularly given that chief rival Goonhilly is on somewhat of a recovery mission. The Mount Nelson gelding posted a below-par fifth at Taunton in January and a 51-day break will need to get him back on track. Just Four Fame may fare best of the remaining protagonists.

A match on paper between TEDLEY and Goonhilly, with the former getting the vote arriving on the back of a good second at Ffos Las earlier in the month. Dan Skelton's charge would be a major threat if reproducing his Aintree effort, while Just Four Fame can fill out third making his hurdling debut returning from 21 months on the sidelines.

With Just Four Fame long absent and Cocardier probably one for later, this should be decided between Goonhilly and TEDLEY.

15:20 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 4) 30f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WHYDAH GALLY relished the step up in trip when landing a first chase victory over 3m5f at Lingfield recently and the eight-year-old likely has more to offer over these marathon distances. A 6lb rise in the ratings and quick turnaround will give hope to his rivals and Gold Emery is feared most. Donald McCain's charge is a potential improver now faced with a stiffer test of stamina. Ali Star Bert and Duke Of Deception have the form to feature as well.

DUKE OF DECEPTION is arguably still on the up and the second he produced at Aintree last time came in a stronger race than this, so he takes preference over Ali Star Bert, who bids for his third win from four starts. Gold Emery is also worthy of consideration.

The vote goes to WHYDAH GALLY (nap) following his Lingfield win. Several respected rivals have their first crack at this sort of trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PACHACUTI posted another creditable effort in defeat when second at Ffos Las earlier this month. A 1lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to stop David Pipe's charge from going one place better in this contest, although fellow in-form rival Pedley Wood isn't taken lightly. The seven-year-old was thwarted in his hat-trick bid at Kempton recently, but that runner-up effort was more than respectable. The downgraded Blade Runner is also worth a second look given an upturn in his yard's form of late.

PEDLEY WOOD has taken well to fences this term and can quickly resume winning ways with Freddie Gingell taking off a valuable 5 lb. Pachacuti should go well again and is the danger.

With his chase form having substance, PACHACUTI gets the vote. Pedley Wood is second choice.

15:50 Bangor-on-dee Maiden Hurdle (Class 3) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Point-to-point winner PITWOOD ROAD clearly benefitted from the application of blinkers (retained) when scoring comfortably in an Ayr bumper earlier this month, and she may have too much for her rivals now tackling hurdles. The unexposed Miss Maverick finished second behind a useful mare in a Uttoxeter bumper last April and she can make her presence felt, while Strong Belle is one of the likely pace angles and could hit the frame.

PITWOOD ROAD built on the promise of her bumper debut effort when scoring in good style at Ayr 15 days ago and, very much the type to make her mark over hurdles, she's fancied to make a bold bid again partnered by Brian Hughes. Strong Belle, who chased home an above-average sort off the Flat at Wetherby latest, is also firmly in the mix.

Strong Belle brings the best hurdles form and Jackeline has ability but the vote goes to Irish challenger PITWOOD ROAD.

TUNE IN A BOX has improved beyond all recognition after being pitched into handicap company this season and on the back of an admirable second on his most recent start, he gets the nod to come home in front nudged up 3lb. Defi Nonantais makes his handicap debut for the in-form Joe Tizzard team and cannot be discounted, while Haas Boy completes the shortlist following his third in a similar contest at Huntingdon last month.

TUNE IN A BOX has done nothing but improve since sent handicapping and, having been edged out only by a well-treated veteran on his most recent outing, he remains of strong interest. Haas Boy bounced back to form when third at Huntingdon last month and is sure to be on the premises with a repeat, while Defi Nonantais could take another step forward on his handicap debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

ABSOLUTE STEEL scored at huge odds over an extended 2m2f at Exeter earlier this month, keeping on gamely to the line, and, easing slightly in grade, he gets the nod to come home in front once more and prove that performance to be no fluke. Fellow last-time-out winner Panhandle Slim shouldn't be overlooked lightly, while Mr Bramley gave the impression that he was still very much a work in progress when finishing a close second in a Wetherby bumper latest.

Dual course bumper winner GUARD THE MOON showed plenty of aptitude for hurdling when third at Chepstow and looks the one to beat. Mr Bramley was progressive in bumpers so may emerge as the biggest threat with Panhandle Slim and Absolute Steel both shouldering penalties.

Absolute Steel, Panhandle Slim and Mr Bramley are respected but look up against it faced by GUARD THE MOON.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MOYTIER finished a creditable fourth in a higher grade at Exeter last time out and he can make a bold bid for the gold medal under Harry Cobden. Flash Gorcombe has been running consistently well this season and he heads the dangers, despite finding himself on a career-high mark and appearing to hold no secrets from the handicapper. Sevenofus also warrants respect on the back of her second over 2m2f at Taunton earlier this month.

It could be worth chancing ROYAL SAM, who showed an aptitude for chasing until the rise in class and possibly lack of fitness told on return/yard debut at Exeter. Flash Gorcombe and Moytier are closely matched on their latest run at Exeter and they head the dangers.

Having won easily over C&D two starts ago, FLASH GORCOMBE (nap) was a good third at Exeter most recently and earns the vote.

GLOBE PLAYER represents a trainer firmly on the hot list and, on the back of an impressive win on his most recent start over 3m at Southwell, he can make a bold bid to go in again having been upped 8lb. Catch Him Derry got off the mark in workmanlike fashion on his handicap debut over an extended 3m at Southwell last month, but a 6lb rise will make life tougher, while Phil De Pail was in good form when last seen over 600 days ago and the market should tell us more on his return.

FAMOUS CLERMONT marked himself down as one of the leading hunter chasers when scoring comfortably over the National fences at Aintree last year. Fresh from an impressive victory in a Larkhill point-to-point in January, victory here would qualify him once again for the major spring events. Lieutenant Rocco commands respect after his second at Taunton last week, while Walkin Out is capable of getting involved in a race of this nature.

FAMOUS CLERMONT took a big prize at the Aintree Festival last season and is fully expected to make a successful return to Rules. Espoir de Guye and Lieutenant Rocco both have the quality to trouble the selection but neither are as reliable.

Last year's Aintree Foxhunters' winner FAMOUS CLERMONT is the selection ahead of recent Taunton runner-up Lieutenant Rocco.

17:30 Kempton Maiden (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Mutasawi would appear to set the standard with a rating of 72 and David O'Meara's gelding is entitled to step forward from his most recent third at Chelmsford earlier in the month. However, the vote goes to SOLDIERS DESIGN, who improved from her debut to finish second at Dundalk last time and she makes plenty of appeal on her UK bow. Red Troop completes the shortlist with the likelihood of more to offer.

SOLDIERS DESIGN took a step forward when second at Dundalk last time and her pedigree points to ongoing progress, so she should be able to open her account in a weak race debuting for a new yard. Mutasawi is the obvious danger on form but he's more exposed.

Ex-Irish SOLDIERS DESIGN holds leading claims in this ordinary maiden. Mutasawi is the biggest danger on form.

18:00 Kempton Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

JUST RITA showed a fair amount of promise on her first couple of starts before disappointing on her final juvenile outing when only beating a sole rival home. That said, she is clearly best judged on her second at Chelmsford the time before and an opening mark of 65 may underestimate her ability. Silver Trumpet ran well on his handicap bow when fourth at Lingfield and has to enter calculations, while Lady In Havana and Rhasidat are others with viable claims.

SILVER TRUMPET is still unexposed and finished to good effect after a slow start last time, so he's worth siding with in an open-looking race. Lady In Havana is in good order and should be thereabouts, while Just Rita has the scope to do better now switched to handicaps.

Just Rita and SILVER TRUMPET are open to further progress and the latter should be sharper with his recent return behind him.

18:30 Kempton Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CREATIVE STORY is likely to command plenty of attention being a three-parts brother to the National Stakes winner Quorto and it would be no surprise if Charlie Appleby's colt proved to be a smart recruit. Condor Pasa is expected to have come forward from his first start when third over C&D, having fared best of the newcomers, while the form of Suspicion's debut effort appears to be promising with the first and fourth from that contest both winning since.

CONDOR PASA shaped like a decent prospect when third over C&D on debut 7 weeks ago and shades the vote over Suspicion, who caught the eye in a C&D maiden that has been working out well. Creative Story is closely related to connections' very smart but ill-fated 2-y-o Quorto so looks the pick of the newcomers.

Very interesting newcomer CREATIVE STORY has impressive credentials. Condor Pasa and Suspicion bring the best form.

19:00 Kempton Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LADY OF ARABIA arrives here on the back of two C&D victories and a 4lb rise for the most recent of those wins may not be enough to stop her from making it a hat-trick. Gavi Di Gavi chased home the selection last time and is an obvious threat off 3lb better terms, while Arctician and Hieronymus are others who make the shortlist.

UMBERTO was an excellent close third off this mark over C&D on his final 3-y-o start and the booking of Oisin Murphy suggests he's ready to go after 6 months off. Lady of Arabia made it 3 wins from 4 starts around here when beating Gavi di Gavi 4 weeks ago and is the obvious threat.

Umberto can progress again this year but LONGLAI has a good record fresh and this might be the time to catch him.

19:30 Kempton Stakes (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

THOUGHTFUL GIFT won a similar event over a mile at Lingfield nine days ago and she clearly sets the standard on that evidence, despite having to carry a 5lb penalty. Rainbow Sign was second on that occasion and could fill the runner-up position once again, while Profitar Rules edges out Portraitist and Kumari Star to be the pick of the remainder.

THOUGHTFUL GIFT is going the right way and had plenty to spare when beating Rainbow Sign at Lingfield last time, so she should be able to uphold the form with that rival. Kraken Diamond shaped better than the result last time, so he's worth monitoring in the betting on just his second start for his current stable.

The strongest contender on current form is THOUGHTFUL GIFT. Second choice is Kraken Diamond.

20:00 Kempton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

MAN ON A MISSION benefited from stepping back up a furlong in trip when scoring here in comfortable fashion 10 days ago and a 5lb penalty for that display is unlikely to stop him from proving too strong for this opposition. Holbache was third to the selection on that occasion and is capable of being in the mix, while Alafdhal is worth another chance having been unable to get a clear run at Wolverhampton last time.

MAN ON A MISSION bounced back to score with something in hand over C&D last time and he's likely to put up a bold showing in the follow-up bid. Supreme King has shaped better than the bare result the last twice and deserves consideration, while the well-treated Alafdhal should bounce back from an excusable run.

Man On A Mission can go well but the pace set-up of today's race may allow HOLBACHE to turn the tables.

Fravanco returned to form when second at Lingfield in December and is respected, while a drop back in trip is likely to benefit Capricorn Prince.

TORTURED SOUL has proven most progressive since joining Tony Carroll, making it 3 wins from 4 starts at Southwell 13 days ago and his latest rise shouldn't prevent him going very well again in a race lacking depth. Fravanco could emerge as the lead danger ahead of Where's Tom.

Improving TORTURED SOUL (nap) is taken to defy another rise in the weights. Devizes is second choice.
