There were 21 Races on Sunday 9th March 2025 across 4 meetings. There was 6 races at Carlisle, 7 races at Naas, 7 races at Warwick, 1 races at 3-00 Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f, no doubt Tomform helped you find a winner.

SMART DECISION likely would have finished second but for unseating his rider after the last at Haydock and makes plenty of appeal in this weaker-looking affair. Tim Easterby's gelding had previously made a winning debut at Doncaster and looks capable of defying a 7lb penalty. The biggest threat may emerge from hurdling newcomer Dearkeithandkaty, who displayed ability on his third-placed bumper bow at Hereford. Lautrec De Cougny is the pick of the remainder.

SMART DECISION has to concede 7 lb all round but possesses much the best form so is taken to quickly resume winning ways. Both Lautrec de Cougny (second choice) and Eagles Reprieve have better days ahead of them though and should ensure Tim Easterby's son of Postponed doesn't have things all his own way.

This looks a golden opportunity for SMART DECISION to make amends for Haydock where he was unlucky to unseat at the last.

REDEMPTION DAY is indeed on a retrieval mission but the Grade 1 bumper winner drops in class. A lightly-raced eight-year-old, he came good at the Punchestown Festival last May but was well held in a hot maiden hurdle over Christmas and then weakened tamely in a Grade 1 in February. However, he could be suited by stepping up in distance and, notably, is Paul Townend's last ride before Cheltenham. Kainsbourg and Grey Pharoh are useful but would struggle against an on-song selection. Come Walk With Me runs in a first-time tongue-tie, while second reserve Good N' Kind is long absent but is capable.

Gordon Elliott looks to hold a strong hand here and his form pick KAINSBOURG is taken to gain a first win in this sphere at the chief expense of his stablemate Grey Pharaoh who can build on a promising Punchestown debut second. Willie Mullins' Redemption Day must enter calculations too now he has his sights lowered with Come Walk With Me and Harry's Legacy also in the picture.

COME WALK WITH ME has kept some smart company so far and gives the impression there could be more to come at this sort of trip

This represents a significant drop in grade for LIME DROP, having been outclassed at Exeter last time out, and she is best judged on her penultimate success over this distance at Uttoxeter. A mark of 115 still looks manageable, and she is preferred to Ostrava Du Berlais, who was a progressive sort earlier in the season and showed some promise when third at Ludlow last month. Happy D'ex has yet to click since joining new connections, but she is well-handicapped compared to her hurdles mark.

This can go the way of OSTRAVA DU BERLAIS who has less on her plate than when a good third at Ludlow last time out and can now bag a third success of the season. Lime Drop also has her sights lowered in her bid to bag a third victory and should ensure Venetia Williams' mare doesn't have things all her own way.

Bottomweight OSTRAVA DU BERLAIS holds a particularly good chance on her December form. Lime Drop is second choice.

Smokeringinthedark was underwhelming when a well-beaten fourth in a class 2 event at Musselburgh, although he must enter calculations dropping in grade. However, this distance might prove on the sharp side and it could be worth taking a punt on Rules debutant SPADESTEP. Lucinda Russell's inmate proved a ready winner on his sole outing between the flags and there is enough speed in his pedigree to suggest a bold showing. Natzor may fare best of the remainder.

SMOKERINGINTHEDARK may not have been suited by the longer trip when fourth at Musselburgh last time and remains low mileage. He can get back on the winning trail. Lucinda Russell's newcomer Spadestep must be taken seriously, particularly if the market vibes are strong, whilst Kadjar des Mottes should also go well.

This is a new trip for SMOKERINGINTHEDARK but he did not look short of speed when beating a smart rival over 2m4f in December.

UK runner PLEASINGTON is suited by testing ground and has useful recent form. Lightly raced, he has progressed well in recent months and while he steps up in grade, he nonetheless comfortably defeated the previously Grade 2-placed runner-up at Lingfield last month. Last year's Royal Ascot winner Belloccio scored impressively on his hurdling debut last May but was soundly beaten in the Royal Bond in December. Despite winning a French Listed Flat race on soft ground in 2020, he seems more suited by a sound surface, although he holds stablemate Gaucher on that Fairyhouse form, being 4lb better off. Goraibhmaithagat has recent form and should compete.

BELLOCCIO drops back in grade after a somewhat disappointing effort at Fairyhouse in December and remains with potential in this discipline. He gets the nod. Pure Steel and Pleasington rate the principal dangers.

If forgiven a Leopardstown handicap run that was too bad to be true, Relieved Of Duties has a good chance on a previous Grade 2 third

KING ULANDA produced a comfortable success on his handicap debut at Musselburgh and the five-year-old is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming. He can follow up off 8lb higher here. A respectable third when looking to land the double at Bangor-on-Dee last time out, The Grey Man is a key player, along with Don Rafael, who has strong claims on his success at Hereford.

KING ULANDA proved a different proposition sent handicapping when opening his hurdles account in good style at Musselburgh last time, so he is taken to follow up for last year's winning trainer/jockey of this race. He can see off the challenge of The Grey Man, who has also made a promising start in handicaps, with Aggagio another one to note.

The choice is KING ULANDA who did it well when making a successful handicap debut at Musselburgh last month. He can defy an 8lb rise.

SESKIN FLASH showed some form at this level last year and debuts for new connections in a winnable handicap. He is clearly no star but the winner of his December race at Cork has done well since and he seems suited by soft ground. King In Love had largely poor form in 2024 but showed improvement last month. He returned following a 157-day break in that Punchestown race and, while well enough held, might continue to progress. High Honour is capable at this level and ran well for second at Leopardstown last week, while the dependable Star Official is able in this sort of company too.

KING IN LOVE may be able to build on the encouragement of his latest run and would be aided by a truly-run race dropping back to 2 miles. Mayos Vendangeur was well backed when underperforming last time and would be interesting if the money comes again, with High Honour respected off his current mark. There are a host of potential improvers making their handicap debut, and given connections, it would be particularly interesting if any market support comes for Commanche Moon or King of The Bronx.

A hopeful vote goes to SESKIN FLASh who shaped quite well over a longer trip at Cork on his final start before joining Philip Dempsey

A winner of a Listed contest at Musselburgh last month before going on to finish runner-up in the Adonis, ST PANCRAS sets a lofty standard and it is difficult to look past him on the drop in class. HMS President boasts strong hurdles form and has had a spin on the Flat since his latest second in this sphere at Huntingdon. He is feared most, ahead of Dunskay.

An excellent opportunity for ST PANCRAS to quickly resume winning ways having finished second in a Grade 2 at Kempton 2 weeks ago. There's not much depth to this big field, though previous winner Hms President remains with potential.

Scottish Triumph Hurdle winner and Adonis runner-up ST PANCRAS gets the verdict back down in class. HMS President is second choice.

A chance is taken on BATTLE IT OUT, who is one of four JP McManus-owned runners and reverts to hurdling following a small break. Winner of his last race over timber in March 2023, he landed a Listed handicap chase here in February 2024. He needs to recapture his best form but competes from that same rating of 116 and is suited by testing conditions. Duke Of Leggagh attempts a course hat-trick, stepping up in distance, but is another 10lb higher. Mark Walsh rides unexposed handicap debutant Dont Tell Jack, who was an eyecatcher behind Kopek Des Bordes at Christmas. Uhavemeinstitches, out of an Irish National winner, returns having won at Limerick during Christmas.

Having shown useful form over hurdles in 2022/23, CADATHARLA hasn't been able to match that level over fences but he's now 3 lb lower than when last seen in this sphere. He is taken to get back to winning ways returned to this venue, with the hat-trick seeking Duke of Leggagh heading the list of dangers, ahead of handicap-debutants Jump Allen and Don't Tell Jack.

The form of the maiden hurdle won by UHAVEMEINSTITCHES is working out very nicely and she's entirely unexposed on just her fourth run

The vote goes to GENTLEMAN JACQUES, who justified favouritism by 12 lengths at Wincanton on his latest outing and has a 11lb higher rating to contend with. This requires a career-best effort, but he might be up to the task. Noble Park warrants a market check on his handicap bow for his powerful connections, while you should keep an eye on Kap Ouest too.

GENTLEMAN JACQUES can defy a hike in the weights for a facile Wincanton success. Highlands Legacy and Almuhit are also respected.

An open contest in which the vote goes to HIGHLANDS LEGACY whose stable has a fine recent record in this race.

A tricky contest but OLYMPIC MAN may be worth another shot, despite having jumped poorly on his two chase starts to date. The Martaline gelding ran a nice race, even after a couple of mistakes at the business end, when fourth to stablemate Dancing City on his chase debut in Punchestown. He then weakened here after some errors over three miles and dropping in trip might help. Mahon's Way is another who is capable of better. He was mid-division on his chase debut at Navan in December and the yard is hitting form now. Dancingondaceiling was under pressure but on the heels of the leaders when falling in Gowran and is another to consider.

SIR ARGUS ran with promise on his chasing bow at Galway in October and should have learnt plenty from that. He can open his account in this discipline. Stable companion Olympic Man rates the chief threat, whilst Foxy Girl is also of interest.

SIR ARGUS (nap) could be the way to go after 2 promising runs at Galway and he can come on for his latest outing and resume progress

SOLE SOLUTION may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests when scoring by half a length at Sandown last month and is only 5lb higher for that success. Venetia Williams' seven-year-old could have more to offer on only his second handicap start and may prove tough to beat. Woodie Flash got up in the final strides to strike in a warmer event at Chepstow last time and is a previous C&D winner to take seriously. Of the remainder, An Tailliur makes the most appeal.

Despite a small field, a few of these tend to go forward and that should ensure this is run at a reasonable tempo, which will suit the progressive SOLE SOLUTION. He showed a game attitude when winning at Sandown, shaping as though he'll be even better for this step up in trip. Woodie Flash is very likeable having won 3 of his last 4 completed starts over hurdles, and he is capable of running another big race following a short break, while An Tailliur offered some hope of a revival last time.

With a resurgent display likely, KINTAIL is an interesting alternative to the progressive pair Woodie Flash and Sole Solution.

TYRE KICKER ran a big race in a competitive event last week and looks on a nice weight now going back up in trip. The Network gelding stayed on well to chase home Monbeg Park at Leopardstown, having been a bit hampered at the last, and there is a nice prize in him over this kind of distance. He won over an extended 3m1f at Fairyhouse a couple of years ago. Anna McGuinness has a nice ride on Kinturk Kalanisi. Tom Gibney's charge has been running well in novice company and it was a good effort in second behind Three Card Brag at Navan last time. Espanito Bello won this two years ago and is another to note.

TYRE KICKER caught the eye again with the way he travelled off the pace when second at Leopardstown last week and looks well up to winning a handicap from this sort of mark. Kinturk Kalanisi has taken well to fences and his opening mark looks a fair one, so is next best ahead of the veteran Any Second Now.

In an open race, slight preference is for KINGS HALO, whose stamina gave way over 3m3f at Punchestown.

This cold be a gruelling test and although Sound And Fury and Illico De Cotte have both been in good form of late, both will be stepping into the unknown when they approach the latter stages. That's not the case with THE BIG BREAKAWAY, who has finished second on his last two attempts over this distance and his proven stamina earns him the vote after a zestful effort with a first-time visor (retained) tried at Bangor last month. Doncaster winner Northern Poet is another solid contender.

ILLICO DE COTTE has taken well to fences this season and could have more to offer over this longer trip, so gets the vote over recent winners Northern Poet and Sound And Fury.

The vote goes to the unexposed 7yo ILLICO DE COTTE (nap) who shapes as though this even stiffer test will suit him well.

SWITCH FROM DIESEL has some very strong form in the book and looks the one to beat. The six-year-old has been runner-up in the Grade 2 mares' bumper at Leopardstown for the past two years, chasing home Bambino Fever this February. She can gain an overdue win now. Blue Velvet has a bit to find with her having finished seventh at the Dublin Racing Festival. The regally-bred Apples Jane shaped nicely on her debut at Naas and could be the danger. The Walk In The Park filly is the first foal out of star mare Apple's Jade and looks to have a nice bit of ability herself judged on her initial effort.

SWITCH FROM DIESEL is the one to beat having finished second in a Grade 2 mares bumper at Leopardstown 5 weeks ago. Blue Velvet disappointed in the same race but remains with potential, while Apples Jane, who is the first foal of connections prolific Grade 1 winning hurdler Apple's Jade, offered plenty to work on when second on debut here last month.

The experience of SWITCH FROM DIESEL, twice placed at Grade 2 level, may prove vital in this clash with Apples Jane

Les's Destiny Star and Destination Dubai are the most notable of the three previous bumper winners but their 7lb penalties have to be a concern. However, WILSTAR, who is a half-brother to none other than Jonbon and Douvan, is the one who appeals most on pedigree. A hint of the ability of those two top-class siblings would make Olly Murphy's newcomer hard to beat. The class-dropping Settle Down Jill could be the biggest danger to the selection on these terms.

This is wide open so it could be worth siding with Olly Murphy's WILSTAR, who is a half-brother no less to the top-class duo Douvan and Jonbon, to make a winning start. Dan Skelton's Settle Down Jill rates the form pick and seems sure to be on the premises, while Colin Hobbs, Times Are Green, Legal Weapon and Big Boy Barney all need factoring in too.

Superbly bred newcomer WILSTAR and solid-looking rules debutant Big Boy Barney are particularly interesting.
