14:05 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SUPERSTYLIN got off the mark at the first time of asking over fences at Lingfield in November and it would be no surprise to see him progress from that effort, despite the handicapper upping him 6lb. Plenty was expected of One Last Glance when sent off favourite for his chasing debut at Fakenham, but that ended abruptly when carried out after the first fence. The market support on that occasion suggests he is worth another chance to deliver, while Zara's Universe's recent third at Catterick entitles her to a place on the shortlist.

SUPERSTYLIN looked ahead of his mark when a stylish winner on his chasing debut at Lingfield and can make light of a 6 lb rise in the weights. Zara's Universe and One Last Glance appeal as the pick of the rest and can chase home Suzy Smith's 7-y-o in that order.

The switch to chasing prompted an improved performance from point winner SUPERSTYLIN and he is taken to make it 2-2 over fences.

14:17 Plumpton Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LOOKING AS YOU ARE sets the standard in this contest with a rating of 108 after getting off the mark at Ludlow last month. Alex Hales' five-year-old now has a 7lb penalty to carry, but brings the best form to the table and looks the one to beat. Coin Basket was victorious in her only bumper start at Fakenham in April 2022 and is an interesting contender on her return from a long absence and first start over timber. Of the remainder, Walkinthecotswolds makes the most appeal.

STUTI offered plenty to work on when third on hurdling debut, and with her subsequent effort at Ludlow easy to put a line through, Hughie Morrison's 7-y-o is fancied to come out on top fitted with a hood. Looking As You Are built on her hurdling debut to get off the mark at Ludlow last month, so she's put forward as the main danger under a penalty, with Walkinthecotswolds and Coin Basket taken to fight out third.

Three-time bumper runner-up LOOKING AS YOU ARE improved for the step up to 2m5f at Ludlow last month and is taken to defy a penalty.

14:35 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The return to fences and stepping up in trip saw HERE COMES MCCOY in a completely different light when running out an 11-length winner at Uttoxeter. Connections appear to have found him an ideal opportunity to back that performance up, with all of his rivals having something to prove. Storminhome took a step in the right direction when second at Doncaster, but stamina has to be a concern based on his efforts prior. The booking of Harry Cobden could finally make the difference for Coconut Splash.

HERE COMES MCCOY has been hiked up 8 lb for his Uttoxeter success but had plenty left in the tank there so still looks the way to go. Recent Doncaster second Storminhome appeals as the main danger to Olly Murphy's consistent 9-y-o ahead of veteran Oscar Robertson.

Topweight HERE COMES MCCOY impressed on a belated second attempt over fences at Uttoxeter in January and an 8lb rise may not stop him.

14:50 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

DUHALLOW TOMMY has the perfect record over fences in two starts, with both victories coming at this track and a combined winning distance of 32 lengths. Toby Lawes' gelding only has a 10lb higher rating in comparison with his mark before those successes and he looks difficult to oppose. Chance A Tune won very nicely at Hereford and could go close again under a 7lb penalty. Godot seems like a stronger contender than Old Painless in the fight for third.

CHANCE A TUNE got the hang of things as the race wore on and was well on top at the finish when scoring at Hereford under James Turner 8 days ago. He's fancied to defy a penalty at the main expense of the course hat-trick seeking Duhallow Tommy.

Godot is respected but CHANCE A TUNE kept on strongly to assert at Hereford last week and can follow up under his penalty.

15:05 Southwell Hunter Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

STRATAGEM had proven himself to be a more than useful recruit to this sphere, winning twice in 2022, and fitness is unlikely to be a concern on his first start for 22 months, especially if connections have one of the bigger spring contests as a target. Caryto Des Brosses won this contest 12 months ago and arrives this time with a run under his belt, having finished runner-up in a point-to-point at Garthorpe last month. Gaboriot and Wick Green complete the shortlist.

CARYTO DES BROSSES arrives fit from a point run last month and can land this race for the second year in succession. The returning Stratagem is another who has tasted hunter success over C&D and will be a big threat if retaining anything like his old ability. Gaboriot had a productive spell in handicap chases towards the end of 2023 and looks best of the rest.

Stratagem has a class edge but returns from a long absence. Preference is for GABORIOT who has been in top form in handicaps.

15:20 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Letthedustsettle completed a Catterick brace prior to occupying the runner-up berth at Newcastle, and he has a very solid chance off a 1lb higher mark. However, the vote goes to HASTY PARISIAN, who found only one too strong when having his sights lowered over C&D last month and has been dropped 2lb. He runs off a career-low mark and could get his head back in front. Artistic Endeavour has put in solid efforts in all his starts this season and is another to note.

ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR soon left behind a lesser effort when staying on well for third at Sandown on his latest outing and, with this longer trip likely to suit, he can get off the mark this time around. Letthedustsettle won his only start in points and could be the main danger upped markedly in distance, while Overabottleofred is one to note now handicapping.

Today's hike up in trip is an interesting move for LETTHEDUSTSETTLE, who has made very good progress in handicaps at around 2m lately.

LONG DRAW caught the eye when a running-on third over 2m3f at Taunton and with that experience under his belt, coupled with the step up in trip, the Olly Murphy-trained five-year-old gets the vote to come home in front. Point-to-point winner Rickety Bridge has shown ability in bumpers this season and, making his hurdling debut, Paul Nicholls' representative may emerge as the biggest danger. Captains Road, who also struck between the flags, merits consideration on his first start under Rules.

LONG DRAW made a promising start over hurdles at Taunton 9 weeks ago and has good claims with improvement to come and Sean Bowen up. Rickety Bridge seems sure to have a future over jumps and looks the danger on his hurdles debut, ahead of Give Me A Boom.

This could go to the 3m point winner RICKETY BRIDGE who could build on his bumper promise now up in trip on his hurdle debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

A 2lb rise for Mr Freedom's close-up second to a progressive rival at Taunton looks more than fair and he should give another good account of himself now dropped into 0-125 company. However, he may have to play second fiddle once more, with CLASSIC LORD edging the vote. Tim Vaughan's charge offered more when runner-up at Sandown and that form could be a touch stronger. Holly, Saligo Bay and Mr Mackay are sure to have their supporters as well.

MR FREEDOM has barely put a foot wrong since landing a hat-trick on the Flat in the summer, and given his proven suitability for testing ground, gets the verdict over Mr Mackay, who arrives after a largely positive campaign in his first season over hurdles. Saligo Bay attracted strong support on the back of winning in selling company last year and isn't ruled out of making amends for his early fall on that occasion.

Mr Mackay is tempting but HOLLY (nap) won very comfortably on her latest outing and is taken to overcome a 9lb rise.

ANNIE DAY showed up well for a long way before fading into fourth in testing conditions over 3m1f at Huntingdon and, eased 2lb now coming back in trip, she gets a tentative vote in what looks a trappy affair. The less-exposed After Many Days arrives on the back of a creditable fifth on her handicap bow at Leicester and can make her presence felt off 1lb lower. Our Pink Lady represents a trainer in form and cannot be discounted.

AFTER MANY DAYS made a fairly encouraging start in handicaps when fifth at Leicester and, with Pipers Cross due to run at Huntingdon on Sunday, she could be the answer off a 1 lb lower mark. Our Pink Lady wasn't disgraced at Fakenham last time and she is second choice ahead of Kalpaga, who will be a danger to all if back to something like her best returned to this sphere following an unsuccessful stint over fences.

Having looked a big threat before fading on heavy ground at Leicester, AFTER MANY DAYS gets the nod on her second handicap start.

PUDDLESINTHEPARK wasn't disgraced when third behind a subsequent winner at Southwell last month. A 2lb drop in the handicap can only help Evan Williams' gelding and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to open his account over fences. Kap Chidley is a potential fly in the ointment if a wind procedure unlocks some potential, with his runner-up effort at Uttoxeter in October reading well. Born At Midnight may fare best of the remainder.

KAP CHIDLEY had been shaping up well until fluffing his lines at Uttoxeter last time out so Tim Vaughan's 6-y-o is well worth another chance on the back of a wind op to register a breakthrough victory. Puddlesinthepark arrives in good nick and could emerge as the chief threat, with Committee of One another to consider.

The pick is BORN AT MIDNIGHT, who ran well over C&D on his seasonal debut and will appreciate the ground drying out.

WE GOT YOUR BACK was sporting a hood for the first time (retained) when finishing a gallant second in a similar race to this over C&D last month, and off an unchanged mark, he holds every chance of going one place better. The class-dropping Samazul should find this company more manageable than when fifth in a warm race at Newbury over an extended 2m in January, and he may give the selection most to think about, while Joker Du Chenet gives the impression that the application of cheekpieces will aid his cause, and he merits consideration.

The one who appeals most is SAMAZUL, who took a definite step in the right direction in a Newbury novice in January and he should have more to offer now venturing down the handicap route. Joker du Chenet is an intriguing candidate on debut for the shrewd James Owen yard and he is feared most ahead of Kilta and Arabescato.

Bumper winner SAMAZUL (nap) could be on a good mark for this handicap debut judged on his fifth in a warm Newbury maiden last time.

Mi Sueno warrants respect judged on his wide-margin romp at Fakenham, although he may not have beaten much in selling handicap company. An 8lb rise in the ratings could prove his undoing, and preference is for BIRDMAN BOB. Andy Irvine's inmate appeared to have plenty in the tank here in February, but for making a mistake at the third-last and unseating his rider. Compensation could await, with Criquette completing the shortlist.

Andy Irvine won this race last year and his BIRDMAN BOB is the most solid option in a trappy finale. Criquette showed better signs with a visor added here last time and might be the one to follow the selection home.

Mi Sueno won last time but BIRDMAN BOB has been in good form at this track this season and his overall profile is more persuasive.

Mokaatil justified favouritism by the smallest of margins over 5f here and he is likely to be on the premises off a 3lb higher mark. However, he could come out second best to BIG DREAM, who struck in comfortable fashion over 7f at this venue and has been put up 9lb. Anthony McCann's six-year-old shouldn't have any issues with the drop in trip and can record a double. White Mist is also hard to ignore in her current form.

A tricky opener to solve with several arriving in form but the vote goes to Irish-raider BIG DREAM, who ended a long losing run in good style over 7f here last month and is effectively only 4 lb higher with promising apprentice Tommie Jakes taking over in the plate. White Mist made it 3 wins from 4 starts since the application of a visor at Kempton recently so she heads up the opposition, with Revolucion and Mokaatil also fancied to go well.

The drop in trip should be fine for BIG DREAM, who is taken to follow up his course win. White Mist is feared most.

Unleash Hell remains on a workable mark and it would be no surprise to see him involved once more, while Scarbados warrants a market check on her handicap bow.

While QUEEN ROSLYN hasn't shown a great deal in a handful of appearances at up to 7f so far, we could be about to see an altogether different filly now that she's pitched into a handicap and, moreover, faced with a stiffer test. Flowering is an obvious threat on the back of her effort at Chelmsford where she found just one too good, while Pegasus of Harry's handicap debut third here a fortnight ago represented a step forward and she is also likely to appreciate this step up in trip.

Preference is for topweight FLOWERING, who looks poised to open her account. Unleash Hell is second choice.

18:30 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Perfect View was strongly backed but only managed to fill the runner-up berth over 7f at Chelmsford in September and he sets the bar with a rating of 76 for others to aim at. The one chosen to surpass that is DYRHOLAEY, who was slowly into stride and forced to race wide on his Chelmsford debut, but that didn't prevent him from scoring by a neck. Archie Watson's colt should have any amount of improvement to come and can remain unbeaten. Mrs Thrump makes her all-weather debut and could also be a player.

DYRHOLAEY made the perfect start at Chelmsford over 7 weeks ago, the penny dropping with him late on, and with improvement on the way, he's taken to remain unbeaten. Miss Anya, in receipt of plenty of weight, shouldn't be far away, while Perfect View could have more to offer this year.

Being a solid contender on form and evidently suited by being fresh, PERFECT VIEW gets the vote. Mrs Thrump is second choice.

19:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BINT HAVANA GOLD didn't enjoy the best of passages when second at Southwell in January. A 1lb rise in the ratings looks more than fair given the winner that day subsequently ran with credit off an 11lb higher mark, and compensation could await Richard Hughes' filly in this contest. Moe's Legacy arrives in fine fettle and she is feared most, ahead of handicap debutant Twenty Bob.

Although her tendency to miss the break is a slight worry there should be more to come from BINT HAVANA GOLD back at 6f so she's the selection. Moe's Legacy arrives in good form and is second choice ahead of William Knight handicap newcomer Twenty Bob, who was third in a C&D maiden last month.

Being open to further progress back at 6f, BINT HAVANA GOLD holds particularly strong claims. Moe's Legacy is second choice.

19:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

HAVANAZAM relished the drop back in distance when landing the spoils over track and trip last month. That was a career-best performance from the four-year-old and a 5lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to stop him from following up. The biggest threat may emerge from Artisan Dancer, who should appreciate the return to the scene of his last success, although Captain Kane is entitled to build on his reappearance third behind Charlie Johnston's inmate on that occasion.

ARTISAN DANCER is as consistent as they come and Charlie Johnston's inmate looks the most solid option in a competitive affair. Howth remains with only a single win to his name but isn't ruled out after a sound in-frame effort last time, with Havanazam also respected in this better company after winning over C&D last month.

Artisan Dancer has good claims but HAVANAZAM (nap) defends an unbeaten course record and has more to come at 1m6f.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

KINKY BOOTS shaped with promise when placing twice on the all-weather at Chelmsford before struggling to land a blow when returning from a break on turf at Leicester over 7f back in August. The drop to 5f is likely to bring about improvement and she is fancied to make a successful handicap debut at the chief expense of Basholo, who returned to form when third here last time. The Tron should prove happier back in trip.

A trappy handicap in which marginal preference is for BASHOLO who paid for helping set a good pace when third here last time out and can now capitalise on a 1 lb lower mark. Fellow C&D scorer Doctor Mozart is feared most with Bluebells Boy, Toplight and My Turn Now also in the picture.

Kept to this C&D, MY TURN NOW may well build on her classified win and follow up. Mellys Flyer is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TWIRLER has benefited from going up to 7f on her last couple of starts, with a placed effort at Lingfield followed up by a victory at Newcastle, and Charlie Fellowes' filly is open to further progression in handicap company. Circles was headed in the final strides over C&D on her latest outing and has to enter calculations once again, while others to note include Algheed and Unico.

TWIRLER has been going the right way in her 2 starts this year, opening her account at Newcastle last time, and she can continue her progress as she makes her handicap debut. The 3-y-o is taken to see off the challenge of Circles, who quickly bounced back to form when narrowly denied at this C&D 16 days ago, while Algheed is also respected.

Preference is for ALGHEED, whose last three attempts in this grade resulted in a hat-trick. Twirler is second choice.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
