1st (5) Spiced Rum (13/2 +54%)
Spiced Rum

13/2(+54%)
(5) Spiced Rum 13/2, Fair staying handicapper on the Flat and opened her account at the fourth attempt over hurdles with a hood added(retained here) at Hereford (16.2f, soft) last month. Likely to continue to pay her way but she's probably biting off more than she can chew on this occasion.
Modest Flat winner who is doing well over hurdles but faces a stiffer test this time.
2
2nd (4) Kartoon And Co (7/4 +65%)
Kartoon And Co

7/4(+65%)
(4) Kartoon And Co 7/4, Successful start in 4-runner event at Stratford in October and placed both starts since, latterly finishing third behind a couple of potentially useful types at Huntingdon (15.8f, soft). This stiffer track should play to his strengths and could be on a good mark for this handicap debut.
The form of his two defeats stacks up well and he could have got in lightly off this mark.
3
3rd (3) Valadon (6/1 -100%)
Valadon

6/1(-100%)
(3) Valadon 6/1, Chased home the smart Salver on debut at Exeter (16.7f, soft) prior to landing the odds in a 3-runner affair over the same C&D in the run-up to Christmas. Subsequently proved too strong for Wreckless Eric (winner since) at Newbury and he's a live each-way candidate, for all that more is needed.
The handicapper has factored in some potential into his mark but he's promising.
4
4th (6) Blue Universe (33/1 -32%)
Blue Universe

33/1(-32%)
(6) Blue Universe 33/1, Fair winner on the Flat and has shown ability both starts over hurdles, not far behind Kartoon And Co when fourth on debut in this sphere at Huntingdon prior to finishing third in a C&D novice. May well have more to offer now handicapping but likely to find one or two too good all the same.
Pleasing start over hurdles on good to soft; today's slower conditions may test him.
5th
5th (7) Nachtgeist (25/1 -56%)
Nachtgeist

25/1(-56%)
(7) Nachtgeist 25/1, Useful on the Flat in Germany and has improved with each of his 3 starts over hurdles, most recently chasing home Through The Ages at Plumpton (beaten 4¾ lengths that day but was almost certainly flattered by his proximity to the easy winner). Well held on the Flat at Saint Moritz since.
Looks held by Through The Ages on their Plumpton form even with a pull in the weights.
6th
6th (1) Castelfort (9/2 -13%)
Castelfort

9/2(-13%)
(1) Castelfort 9/2, Built on debut promise when accounting for some useful types over C&D in December and followed up in good style at Chepstow next time. Latest second to a smart juvenile in the Victor Ludorum was no backward step but he nevertheless looks vulnerable for win purposes conceding weight all round.
Progressive despite his recent Haydock defeat; likely to give his running on this ground.
7th
7th (8) Bridge (20/1 +20%)
Bridge

20/1(+20%)
(8) Bridge 20/1, Off the mark with a wide-margin victory in a Fontwell maiden hurdle in December and has subsequently acquitted himself well in handicaps at Southwell and Lingfield. Represents the yard responsible for 3 of the last 6 winners of this but Through The Ages is presumably the stable first-string.
Maiden winner who can probably win a handicap but this looks harder than last time.
8th
8th (2) Through The Ages (9/2 -50%)
Through The Ages

9/2(-50%)
(2) Through The Ages 9/2, Fair maiden on the Flat for Charlie Appleby and duly left hurdles debut form behind when dotting up at Newbury in December. Made it 2-3 in this sphere when easily accounting for Nachtgeist and 3 others at Plumpton and remains open to improvement for a yard with a good recent record in this race.
Won his last two easily and brings considerable potential into handicaps.

13:15 Sandown Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

This can go the way of VALADON, who scored comfortably at the main expense of a subsequent winner at Newbury in January and should have plenty more improvement forthcoming on just his fourth career outing. The hat-trick seeking Through The Ages is a big danger, although the recent form of the Gary Moore stable is a slight concern, while C&D winner Castelfort is proven under these conditions and should go well.

The most appealing of these is KARTOON AND CO, who is likely to get a strong pace to aim at for the first time here (has made the running on each of his three starts to date, albeit seemingly more out of necessity rather than by design) and this stiff track could also be conducive to an improved display, not that there's much wrong with his form as things stand. Through The Ages is clearly going the right way and is respected with Harry Cobden booked, while Valadon also enters calculations.

Gary Moore has won three of the last five renewals of this with handicap debutants and he can repeat the trick with THROUGH THE AGES.

9/4(+44%)
(4) Whistle Stop Tour 9/4, Winning Irish pointer who made a successful start over hurdles in a Hexham novice in October. Hasn't gone on in the way one would've hoped since but he should nevertheless have a part to play here.
Winning pointer; 2m winner on hurdles debut; good run at 2m4f next time; below-par since.

Al Kalila

13/2(-44%)
(5) Al Kalila 13/2, Made the frame both starts in bumpers and bettered his hurdles debut form when fifth in a 12-runner Down Royal maiden upped to 2½m on Boxing Day. Probably capable of better but it may be that he will be seen in a better light when switched to handicaps.
In the frame in two bumpers but needs to improve on his two runs over hurdles.

Coniston George

11/4(+8%)
(1) Coniston George 11/4, Bumper winner here last March and has won 2 of his 3 starts since switched to hurdles. Shaped as though he'd stay further when keeping on well over 17f at Carlisle (soft) last time and further improvement could be on the way now faced with a stiffer test.
Two wins over hurdles, last time over 2m1f at Carlisle; longer trip should suit; a player.

Got Your Back

7/2(+56%)
(2) Got Your Back 7/2, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and off the mark at the third attempt under Rules in a Musselburgh maiden. Failed to fire upped to 3m there next time and looks vulnerable on the back of that display, for all that this drop back in trip will presumably help.
Below-par over 3m last time but easy 2m4f Musselburgh winner previously; worth considering.
5th
5th (7) Teddy Mac (250/1 -213%)
Teddy Mac

250/1(-213%)

(3) Ozzy Cosmo 5/1, Fourth sole start in Irish points and promising start under Rules when landing a 12-runner novice here (2m, soft) in December. That form looks decent (the second has won twice since) and this 5-y-o should have more to offer now upped in trip.
Fourth in an Irish point; won on hurdles debut here (2m) and should fare better up in trip.

13:23 Ayr Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CONISTON GEORGE is 2-3 over hurdles after securing victory by two and a quarter lengths over 2m1f at Carlisle last month, and he could improve further for this step up in trip. Therefore, he looks the way to go, and his main threat might be Whistle Stop Tour. The six-year-old has put in some respectable efforts this season and is taken to get involved, while Sea God is also worth considering on his debut over timber.

Preference is for CONISTON GEORGE, who was strong at the finish when scoring at Carlisle last month and moving up in trip here may well be the catalyst for further progress. Sea God is something of an unknown quantity and is feared most ahead of the promising Ozzy Cosmo and Whistle Stop Tour.

An interesting novice hurdle can go to OZZY COSMO who won over 2m on his hurdles debut here and should improve over this longer trip.

13:42 Hereford Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

El Granjero has occupied the runner-up spot, albeit when being well held, on his last two starts, but a similar level of performance will bring him firmly into the picture. Yalla Habibi is another to have produced a consistent level of form and is a leading candidate, but the vote goes to INOUI MACHIN. Far from disgraced at handicap level last time out, Neil Mulholland's dual bumper winner can put it altogether now eased in class.

In a maiden with quite an open look to it the vote goes to EL GRANJERO who has finished runner-up in his first 2 hurdles and may benefit from this return to a slightly shorter trip. Inoui Machin and Gentleman Jack are others who have been knocking on the door in similar events, while Dancing In Brazil and Yalla Habibi are a couple who look capable of better.

A few of these warrant consideration but the suggestion is INOUI MACHIN, who has made a very solid start to his hurdling career.

(5) Pic Roc 10/1, Placed twice in bumpers last spring and progressive form over hurdles this term, second to the reopposing Hashtag at Catterick before winning a 19f Ascot novice 3 weeks ago. Definitely more to come and Kielan Woods seemingly prefers him to yard's other runners.

Unsuited by a drop back in trip when well-held fourth at Fontwell since. Should find this test more suitable now handicapping but he'll need improvement to defy this mark.
His Plumpton win is his standout hurdle form and he's not wildly appealing even on that.

13:50 Sandown Handicap Hurdle (Class 1) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

A mark of 119 could greatly underestimate the ability of HASTHING, who had won both starts over hurdles before disappointing at Newbury last time out. Going back up in trip is a big plus and he may have too much for old rival Pic Roc, who has scored at Ascot since playing second fiddle to the selection at Catterick. The hat-trick seeking Fire Flyer is well respected on his handicap debut, while easy Doncaster scorer Champagne Twist is expected to be thereabouts.

HASTHING had the drop to 2m as an excuse at Newbury last time and looks very well treated on the form of his defeat of the reopposing Pic Roc at Catterick prior to that. That rival is one of 2 interesting contenders from the in-form Ben Pauling stable along with Champagne Twist. Paul Nicholls has won 2 of the last 4 runnings and his Fire Flyer completes the shortlist in a typically competitive renewal.

Ben Pauling's PIC ROC would appear to be improving rapidly and he earns preference over Fire Flyer and Hasthing.

Not Staying Long, who made every yard of the running in a class 5 event here last month, has to be considered off a 5lb higher rating, while Moonlight Glory is another to note.

Although BLUE BALOO has yet to build on her Newcastle hurdle debut success, that could change now handicapping from an opening mark which looks manageable. Lucinda Russell pair Lady In The Park and Czech Her Out can give her most to do.

The unexposed LADY IN THE PARK, a good second here last time, is taken to beat Moonlight Glory and Donso Star.

14:10 Gowran Park Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

This looks a good opportunity for ANGOSTURA. Out of three-time victor Tearsofclewbay, the five-year-old ran in two point-to-points when in the care of Ian McCarthy. Third at Boulta in December, he was a place ahead of subsequent Dromahane winner Good N' Kind, with that one a leading hope in the bumper. Beaten by just half-a-length on his debut for Gordon Elliott in a much stronger contest at Navan last month, the selection will be widely expected to go a place better now. Getting a weight allowance on account of his age, Tranquil Sea is the obvious danger. He ran his best race to date when second in handicap company at Punchestown in January and back in calmer waters now, another bold bid looks likely. A son of eight-time winner Jennies Jewel, Tommies Call has been disappointing since finishing a fine third on debut in the valuable Tattersalls Ireland Sales Bumper and he is probably best watched for now. Declan Queally is double-handed through point-to-point winner Manatee Du Brizais and newcomer Rocky's Diamond, with the latter a half-brother to The Little Yank (runs in the fourth). Barry Connell also saddles two, Farrokh and Tannery Park, and in a race of this quality they both warrant respect.

ANGOSTURA made a promising start under Rules when runner-up in a Navan maiden last month and, with the likelihood of better to come, he is taken to go one better here. Tranquil Sea is the obvious danger on the back of his near-miss at Punchestown, while bumper winner Hypersonic Missile has yet to make an impact in this sphere but he nevertheless remains of interest, while Rocky's Diamond could be the pick of the newcomers.

It's hard to get away form ANGOSTURA who sets a solid standard on form and he may be too good for these rivals

14:17 Hereford Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GINDERELLA has bumped into a couple of improving rivals recently when finishing second at both Uttoxeter and Taunton, but this looks a good opportunity in which to go one better. Fantomas hasn't been the easiest to win with, but he is more than capable of mounting a stern challenge, while Rockwiththetimes, who wears a visor for the first time on his handicap debut, and Newtonian are just two more to consider.

This looks wide open and a chance is taken on INCHESTER D'AMSYL, who is now 13 lb lower in the weights compared to when making his handicap debut last spring and perhaps the first-time cheekpieces will help give him a lift. Ginderella has been knocking on the door of late and she is feared most ahead of Newtonian.

The solid options are GINDERELLA and Fantomas, both of whom ran well behind in-form opposition on their most recent starts.

14:25 Sandown Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A taking winner at Newbury on his most recent start and runner-up in a Grade 2 earlier in the season, MAKING HEADWAY looks just the type to excel in a contest of this nature and the fact he is proven on heavy ground is another big plus. Jipcot could be thrown in under a 7lb penalty following an easy success at Huntingdon last Sunday, while stablemate Bad must also be considered after another solid effort in defeat at Ascot. A creditable third in the Betfair Hurdle, Go Dante is a key player too.

Another typically competitive renewal on paper and it's SANS BRUIT who gets the tentative nod having shaped as if better for the run on return/yard debut at Doncaster 6 weeks ago. His usual hood is reapplied, and he can give Paul Nicholls a second successive victory in this at the expense of Making Headway, who doubled his tally at Newbury 4 weeks ago and looks a fascinating contender now handicapping. Go Dante, Jipcot and Bad are just another handful of others worth considering, also.

The smooth-travelling BASHERS REFLECTION (nap) could relish today's drop back in trip and is the selection ahead of Sans Bruit.

SALAMANCA BAY is having only his fourth start over fences and he drops to this grade for the first time in this sphere after being beaten six and a half lengths into third in a class 3 event at Kelso last month. The son of Saint Des Saints was dropped 2lb for that effort and he sports a first-time hood, which can eke out the improvement needed. Cornerstone Lad drops to a career-low mark after finishing second at Newcastle last time and he has to be respected, while Dreams Of Home completes the shortlist.

Headgear could be the key to this race, with DREAMS OF HOME, Salamanca Bay and Cornerstone Lad all sporting first-time aids. The first-named is now 18 lb below his last winning mark and he shades preference in the hope that the blinkers will have the desired effect.

In an unappealing race it could pay to take a chance on former pointer LETS GO JOE winning on his debut over regulation fences.

14:40 Wolverhampton Listed (Class 1) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Provided SHOULDVEBEENARING is ready to go following a 160-day absence, he is the one to beat. Richard Hannon's four-year-old, who finished an excellent third in the Prix de la Foret after being touched off in the Sprint Cup at Haydock, has upwards of 9lb in hand on official ratings and he can resume progress now dropped in class. Doctor Khan Junior has proven himself to be a progressive handicapper and might be capable of better yet, while Nine Tenths is most appealing of the remainder.

SHOULDVEBEENARING ran a couple of crackers at Group 1 level in the autumn and can provide the Richard Hannon yard with a third win in this since 2020. Nine Tenths can give him most to do ahead of the thriving Doctor Khan Junior.

Shouldvebeenaring may be vulnerable on AW after a break and MUMS TIPPLE is preferred. Doctor Khan Junior is next best.

14:45 Gowran Park Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A weak affair and it's difficult to be overly confident about any of these. Pallas Athene is a point-to-point winner and has the form in the book to win a race of this standard, however she is on a retrieval mission having flopped badly on her most recent start at Clonmel. Similar comments apply to the twice placed Penelope's Charm, who finished ninth of nine when last seen in a Limerick bumper. While also hard to support with any great confidence, it might be worth siding with JOKERS 'N' CLOWNS, who is another point-to-point victor in the line-up. She gained no fans by her pre-race antics at Navan last weekend, unseating Keith Donoghue as the tape was released. Now tried in a first time hood, the Jet Away five-year-old might be able to redeem herself. Sadies Diamond, Diamond Nora and Shanlaylin, who is a sister to five-time winning stable companion Drop The Anchor, are others of note.

Something can't have been right with PALLAS ATHENE last time and she's given another chance as her 2 runs prior to that had been quite encouraging. Jokers 'N' Clowns got rid of her rider at the start on last week's hurdle debut but the fact this point winner went off at only 100/30 suggests she's well regarded and she could prove a threat if she behaves better with a hood added this time. Penelope's Charm achieved enough in her first 2 bumpers to think she could also make her presence felt.

No shortage of questions here. If PALLAS ATHENE is restored to form after a dismal run at Clonmel, she should be hard to beat

14:52 Hereford Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Testing ground proved to be too much for HARJO, who was pulled up at Wetherby last time. However, conditions shouldn't be as attritional this time around and Charlie Longsdon's unexposed chaser is fancied to get back on track. Stablemate Glencassley returns from almost a year off the track but he must be of interest over fences for the first time. El Muchacho can chase the pair home ahead of Kings Keeper.

Most of these arrive with questions to answer but HARJO is probably best not judged too harshly on his latest run at Wetherby 5 weeks ago, and a return to this small-field scenario/forcing tactics may well see him in a much better light. The market should prove informative in assessing the trio in opposition, including the selection's stablemate, Glencassley.

Very well handicapped on some of his hurdling form, EL MUCHACHO is selected in the hope that last month's Fakenham outing did him good.

15:00 Sandown NH Flat Race (Class 1) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

In a race packed full of decent prospects, SUNSET MARQUESA sets the standard on the back of three promising efforts. The selection had two and a half lengths in hand over Just Call Me Lucy when they clashed at Aintree in October and, while both have notably gone forward since, the daughter of Walk In The Park boasts the stronger credentials having performed respectably in this company the last twice. Magical Annie and the unbeaten My Louise also merit places on the shortlist, while Rules debutant Honky Tonk Highway warrants a betting check.

JUST CALL ME LUCY was highly impressive at Carlisle 83 days ago and sets the standard on that form, so she's preferred to Rules-debutante Honky Tonk Highway, who looked a good prospect when winning a point. Sunset Marquesa has already proved she can compete at this level, so she also warrants respect.

The Nicky Henderson-trained CRAZIERTHANDAISY did not look the finished article on her debut and could take a sizeable step forward.

This represents a drop in grade for PARK ANNONCIADE, who performed with credit in a valuable contest at Musselburgh last month. The six-year-old won a couple of times in November and gets the vote ahead of the capable Bois Guillbert and Ruby Island, who was a progressive novice last season and makes her return after almost a year off the track. Atlantic Dancer and Kerosine Light are not to be ruled out either.

PARK ANNONCIADE is given a chance to resume his progression back at the scene of the first of his 2 handicap wins in November. Ruby Island could be a threat if primed after a year off, while the front-running Can't Stop Now is starting to look well handicapped again.

Despite her lack of a recent run the progressive RUBY ISLAND\ is taken to beat the Irish raider \bPark Annonciade.

15:15 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 2) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Following a successful turf campaign, KING'S CODE has progressed further on the all-weather over the winter. A narrow victor at both Southwell and Kempton, kicking clear with the runner-up at the Sunbury circuit most recently, David Evans' charge is fancied to shrug off a 5lb hike and complete his hat-trick. Sudden Ambush made a successful reappearance at Kempton and, given that he should improve for that run, a 1lb rise could be lenient. Irish raider Final Voyage defeated a subsequent winner at Dundalk and must be respected.

KINGDOM COME has twice shaped well upon returning to action, left with a hopeless task from his position when third behind a thriving sort at Lingfield (1m) last week. Still one to be interested in from this sort of mark, he could be the answer under Rossa Ryan, with Smoky Mountain and Irish-raider Final Voyage heading up the dangers. Rainbow Fire, back from a break, is another worth a second look.

Clive Cox's KINGDOM COME (nap) shaped well tackling 1m for the first time when third in a warm race at Lingfield and gets the nod.

15:20 Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

GREAT ISLAND gets the nod in this wide-open heat. The eight-year-old provided Ethan O'Sullivan with a memorable breakthrough success over the course and distance in September. An easy 16-length winner on that occasion, he had the reopposing Glenabo Bridge back in third. While disappointing on his last two starts at Fairyhouse and Limerick respectively, the selection might be able to bounce back to his best, returning to the scene of his sole success to date. A case can be made for many others, with Knockaneleigh Girl given second preference. A wide margin winner of a point-to-point at Loughrea in October, she makes her debut in handicap company now, and it'll be interesting to see how she fares. Politicise, Pirate Island, Dgalwaygallivantor and Carlas Big Jim are all sure to have plenty of supporters, with the latter a decisive winner at Clonmel last month. While both consistent sorts, the trip looks on the short side for Cher Why Not and Cosmo Renfro.

Lots with chances. GREAT ISLAND had been shaping up well until making some jumping errors at Limerick last time and is worth another chance off a lenient-looking mark. Dgalwaygallivantor is another who is weighted to go well and next on the list ahead of in-form duo Cosmo Renfro and Pirate Island.

Recent form involving the consistent COSMO PENFRO is persuasive enough to earn him the vote over Carlas Big Jim and Politicise

15:27 Hereford Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

REAL STONE was beaten over five lengths into second when making his first start after undergoing a wind operation in January and his mark has been left unchanged for that display. Dan Skelton's nine-year-old remains in the same grade and he could be the one to beat. Mackenberg failed to fire in a class 2 event last time, but if he can run to the level of his second at Wetherby in October, he could have a say, while L'impertinent is worth a second look in a first-time hood.

REAL STONE left his 2 previous runs in his wake following wind surgery when beaten only by an unexposed rival at Newbury 8 days ago and he's of interest from what remains a workable mark now he's back on track. L'Impertinent is an intriguing runner for a yard that continues to impress with its runners in this sphere, whilst Mackenberg's record fresh always entitles him to respect.

This smallish field might allow MACKENBERG to get into a better jumping rhythm than is sometimes the case, and he goes well when fresh.

GOLDEN SON came good at Kempton a fortnight ago and, with the runner-up from that race emphatically boosting the form by landing the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury last weekend, the Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old is hard to oppose off just 3lb higher. Invincible Nao was a wide-margin winner at Fakenham last time and a similar display would put him firmly in the mix, although his stablemate Kotmask boasts winning course form and also rates a player.

GOLDEN SON, a Graded winning hurdler in France, belatedly built on the promise of his chasing debut to score at Kempton last time and could have even more to offer with headgear retained. Kotmask has already had a productive season over fences and is respected again, with Heros another player on the back of an unlucky second at Wetherby last time.

The progressive 6yo KOTMASK has won three of his last five starts and can enhance Gary Moore's good record in this race.

A determined winner over C&D when last seen in November, WHODINI may not be ideally suited by soft ground, but he arrives at his favourite track following a couple of taking victories and the hat-trick looks very much on the cards. Ballycoose will appreciate going back up in distance, having scored over C&D in January, while Dubai Days is another to consider off a mark 1lb lower than his last victory.

Irish-raider BALLYCOOSE has made a bright start over fences and is faniced to quickly resume winning ways on the back of his good second here with this return to further also a positive. 15:50 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SIEMPRE ARTURO was conceding 29lb to the now 78-rated Alrazeen when filling the runner-up spot at Southwell in January, so the son of Outstrip appears to have been well placed from an opening mark of 70. Harbour Vision arrives on the back of a comfortable C&D triumph and he is just 3lb higher now. English Spirit also remains on a competitive mark and looks set to be involved, along with the consistent Sense Of Worth.

Low-mileage 4-y-o SIEMPRE ARTURO looks to start life in handicaps on a good mark so gets the vote in this competitive handicap. Fellow handicap debutant Sycamore Gap could emerge as the main threat if, as expected, taking a step forward now his stamina is drawn out more. Course-winners Harbour Vision and Percy Willis need factoring in too.

The vote goes to ENGLISH SPIRIT who may appreciate going back up in trip having won over C&D off 1lb higher a year ago.

15:55 Gowran Park Handicap Chase 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

WHISKEYWEALTH appeals here with John Shinnick claiming a valuable 7lb. While he ran below par in the Dan Moore at Fairyhouse in January, he bounced back to form when striking over flights at Naas early last month. In the aftermath of that success at the Tipper Road venue, his trainer Terence O'Brien indicated this race as a target. Down at the foot of the handicap, Sunnyvilla is an interesting contender. Pulled up on three consecutive starts, he hinted at a return to form when fourth at Thurles when tried in cheekpieces for the first time. Those cheekpieces are unsurprisingly retained now and it'll be interesting to see how he fares off bottom weight. The Willie Mullins duo of Figaroc and Feu Du Bresil are sure to have plenty of supporters. Both start off in handicap company and it'll come as no surprise should either prevail. In truth, it's difficult to safely rule out any of these, with Pat's Choice, La Malmason, Bonnie Kellie and Happy Dreams all capable of making their presence felt.

Willie Mullins' handicap debutant FIGAROC appeals as a likely improver and can open his account over fences in this competitive handicap. Handily-weighted Whiskeywealth rates the chief threat back in this sphere, with in-form pair Cayd Boy and La Malmason also in the mix.

It was a major step back in the right direction for CAYD BOY when 2nd latest and he can build on that back at his preferred trip

16:02 Hereford Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Hermes Le Gris was strongly fancied to record a double when beaten into second over an extended 2m7f at Fakenham last month, but he would be foolish to dismiss off a 2lb higher mark. However, the vote goes to HI RIKO, who fared a lot better when finishing fourth over 2m7f at Lingfield last time and the step back in distance looks like a good move. The seven-year-old goes off a 3lb lower rating and he can score. Silver Atom is another to watch out for.

The suggestion is SILVER ATOM, who posted one of his better efforts when fourth over this C&D in January and a line can be drawn through his latest run at Leicester. Hi Riko took a step back in the right direction at Lingfield and he is second choice, while Celtic Fortune and handicap-debutant Gentleman are others to consider.

Today's drop back in trip can enable HERMES LE GRIS (nap) to progress from his easy win two starts ago.

16:10 Sandown Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

ROSE OF ARCADIA lost a shoe when finishing second in the Grand Military Gold Cup over track and trip in January, which was an encouraging performance, and she now makes her return to the handicap ranks. Joe Tizzard's mare is on a handy mark and she can take this at the expense of Ballygrifincottage, who was well beaten into fifth in a tougher heat than this at Ascot last month. Switch Hitter takes a drop in grade and also commands attention.

A few with chances but ROSE OF ARCADIA looks the way to go on the back of her C&D second last time out with that form having been very well advertised since. Bangers And Cash could emerge as the chief threat, especially if a recent wind op ekes out more improvement. Switch Hitter and Ballygrifincottage make up the shortlist.

An open event can go to CASTLE ROBIN, back below his last winning mark after shaping better than the result on both runs this season.

16:18 Ayr Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A chance can be taken on LAHARDAUN, who showed signs of promise across his three qualifying runs. An opening mark of 88 looks more than fair and, with the step up in trip likely to suit, it would come as no surprise if he improved markedly on his handicap debut. Clovis Boy has improved since turning his attentions to handicaps and is likely to prove popular, along with Sanosuke, who finished third at Musselburgh last time having scored there the start before.

Not nearly so competitive as the numbers suggest and GYPSEY'S SECRET looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to go one better than over C&D recently and gain her breakthrough success. Aazza is proving a reliable sort and can have a say too off an easing mark, with Arctic Mann, Clovis Boy and Bowler Jack all not discounted either.

The suggestion in an open affair is Lucinda Russell's CLOVIS BOY, who is less exposed than most of these, particularly at this trip.

16:25 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CIOTOG returned from a short break with a sterling effort when a half-length second over the extended mile here last week and, with the longer distance not expected to be a problem, the six-year-old can go one better, despite being nudged up 1lb. C&D winner Lafan is feared most, although Sea Of Charm also commands respect, despite this trip potentially being on the sharp side.

CIOTOG gave an indication that he's back in form and ready to defy his reduced mark when second here a week ago, so he's preferred to At Liberty, who can shake off a lesser run at Lingfield a couple of days ago. Several others arrive in form, including Sea of Charm and Plumette.

The vote goes to LAFAN who gave the impression he would relish stepping back up in trip when third over 7f at Chelmsford last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

AIME DESJY, Duffle Coat and Miss Tempo are the ones to focus on here, with preference for the Willie Mullins-trained former. Described by Patrick Mullins as 'a real chasing type' after winning a bumper, the French-bred gelding was a fine fifth when tried over fences for the first time in a hot beginners at Fairyhouse in December. He since finished second to the classy Saint Felicien over the course and distance last month and he'll be well fancied to go a place better now. Duffle Coat has a course win to his name and really put it up to the long odds-on Senior Chief on his most recent start. That was his first try over fences and he is likely to be suited by the drop in trip here to 2m4f. Miss Tempo has a point-to-point win to her name and has since won three over flights. A runner-up at Naas on her most recent start, she should give a good account of herself, in receipt of a mares' weight allowance.

AIME DESJY has produced 2 good efforts since switching to fences and can go one better than over C&D last month. Gordon Elliott's Punchestown runner-up Duffle Coat can follow him home.

This can go the way of AIME DESJY (nap) who chased home a nice prospect here last time and he can go one better against these rivals

16:35 Hereford Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AMELIA'S DANCE arrives after hitting the woodwork on her last two starts, just giving best to an in-form mare most recently over 2m at Kempton, and nudged up 3lb, she holds enviable claims of going one place better. Notnowlinda's astute connections have wasted no time in switching her back to hurdles after a disappointing round of jumping over fences at Kempton in November. She can give the selection most to think about. Impressive last-time-out winner Passing Kate also commands attention, despite a 10lb hike for that performance.

Easy Wincanton scorer PASSING KATE is thriving under the tutelage of Matt Sheppard this term and despite being 3 lb out of the handicap still looks very much the way to go. Amelia's Dance is in very good nick herself but could have to play bridesmaid once more, with Notnowlinda appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours back in this sphere.

Topweight AMELIA'S DANCE has been knocking on the door this season, and last month's Kempton second was arguably a career best.

16:40 Sandown Handicap Chase (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Victory wasn't out of the question when Hudson De Grugy fell two out over 3m here last month and, with a clear round of jumping, he could have a say off a 1lb lower mark. However, preference is for SHELDON, who was victorious by five lengths in a class 4 event at Wincanton last time and was put up 5lb for that display. Seamus Mullins' eight-year-old could take this step up in class in his stride and make it three wins from his last four starts. Es Perfecto is another to consider.

ES PERFECTO remains very low-mileage as a 9-y-o and ran another fine race when third in what rates one of the strongest handicaps of the campaign so far at Cheltenham 6 weeks ago. He's fancied to prove tough to beat operating from the same mark, with Imperial Bede next best if putting his recent Kelso spill behind him. Hudson de Grugy and Nocte Volatus are others considered.

Much the most compelling profile belongs to ES PERFECTO whose placed efforts this season constitute very strong form.

The vote goes to YAKALEO, who shaped with significant promise when finishing third on his racecourse debut at Musselburgh in December. Nicky Richards' charge might not want ground conditions to deteriorate too much, though, having been withdrawn on account of soft ground at Kelso last month, but he ought to hold every chance if lining up. Irish raider Step Out has shown ability and is respected with a first-time tongue-tie applied, while point-to-point winner Kingston James is another to consider.

YAKALEO sets the standard on his third at Musselburgh first time out and he's likely to have benefited from that initial experience, so he gets the nod ahead of point-winner Kingston James. Saracen Beau, a stablemate of the winner, also makes some appeal on paper.

There's a lot to like about Fairyhouse fourth STEP OUT who represents a yard with an excellent record in bumpers at this track.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

A handy draw in stall four puts BALDOMERO in a good position to track the pace and, assuming he runs his usual race, the six-year-old can pounce with a late surge. Rousing Encore made all when he edged out the selection by a neck here in December but that was just a seven-runner affair and, off 1lb higher and drawn much wider, it would take a big effort to hold on this time. Knebworth and Bosh are a couple of others to consider.

Claims can be made for plenty and it could be worth siding with one of the 4-y-os in the shape of KNEBWORTH. A dual winner on turf last summer, he ended the campaign with good placed efforts, and with the step back up in trip a plus, he could well make use of a handy inside draw. Baldomero wasn't seen to best effect at Lingfield 8 days ago and he's a threat. Ferrous and Bosh are just another couple to consider.

Al Barez is feared despite his wide draw but FERROUS is dropping in class for his reappearance and could well have more to come.

17:05 Gowran Park Conditions Chase 25f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A tricky race to assess. While likely to prove popular with punters, Annamix is far from consistent and was beaten in fourth when a casualty at the final fence in this contest 12 months ago. The winner of the Galway Plate in 2020, Early Doors impressed when successful on his point-to-point debut at Oldtown last month, but was surprisingly beaten into second by outsider Lisleigh Lad at Kildorrery most recently. With Derek O'Connor in the plate now, the classy 11yo could well redeem himself, with that recent effort perhaps coming a bit too soon after his Oldtown triumph. For a selection, it might be worth siding with RAMILLIES. The winner of four point-to-points this season, the grey nine-year-old ran well for a long way at Naas last month, tiring in the closing stages and finishing a well-beaten third. The vastly experienced Rob James now takes a valuable 7lb off his back and it'll be disappointing if the former Willie Mullins inmate isn't involved towards the business end. The West's Awake beat just two rivals at Lisronagh recently (after Lifetime Ambition unseated) and has a lot more on his plate now, while Bishopscourt Cup winner Fr Gilligansvoyge and the lightly raced Sam Curling-trained Stormy Story complete the line-up.

RAMILLIES has done well in points for this stable and shaped much better than the bare result when a well-held third in a hunter at Naas last time, tiring late having gone best for most of the way. Early Doors is the obvious danger and Annamix can get involved if his jumping holds up.

Slight preference is for RAMILLIES. He is unbeaten in points this season and is capable of better than he has shown in hunter chases

17:12 Hereford NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

125,000-pound purchase JENA D'OUDAIRIES gave the impression that she was still a work-in-progress when finishing third after running green in a Ludlow bumper last November. With that experience under her belt, she gets the vote to come home in front for her in-form stable. Asian Star was in the process of running an excellent race in a Quakerstown point-to-point when coming down two out and has to be considered on her debut for Dan Skelton. Portobello Girl also warrants respect after her fourth at Wincanton on debut.

JENA D'OUDAIRIES left the impression she would benefit greatly from her initial outing at Ludlow 103 days ago so, with significant improvement anticipated, she's preferred to point-recruits Asian Star and Queens Melody, who have both joined stables well capable of readying their bumper representatives.

Ludlow third JENA D'OUDAIRIES sets a fairly good standard of rules forms and gets the nod.

17:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TWILIGHT GUEST can take a hold but Mikkel Mortensen has ridden him before, which will be a useful asset given the likelihood of a searching gallop. George Margarson's four-year-old was on the back of a 140-day break when finishing a close second over C&D last week and that should have set him up nicely to go one place better here. Calcutta Dream and Kingwell are the pick of the rest.

CALCUTTA DREAM won a minor event over C&D in January and shaped best when collared late on at Wolverhampton last time, so in spite of a disadvantageous draw in stall 10, gets the nod to make amends for last month's unfortunate defeat. Elterwater has shaped encouragingly under aggressive rides on her last 2 outings and the suspicion remains there's a bigger effort in her.

This mark could be within range for ELTERWATER now dropped in trip round a course that should suit. Calcutta Dream is next best.

17:35 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

QUIET RESOLVE posted a very professional effort when overcoming a regally-bred odds-on shot at Newcastle and rates a serious player now stepping into handicap company off a highly workable mark. There are dangers aplenty, however, and the likes of the hat-trick seeking pair Queues Likely and Mereside Madness enter calculations based on their potential for further progression. Top-weight Neapolitan adds further spice in a tough one to call.

QUIET RESOLVE continued his theme of race-by-race progress and proved determined in the process when edging out a promising newcomer at Newcastle over this trip 25 days ago. Open to further progress on that evidence, he's expected to go well again on handicap debut. Miguel is another who may yet have more to offer as a 3-y-o.

A return to form is on the cards for Miguel but QUIET RESOLVE looks to have been let into handicaps lightly.

17:40 Gowran Park NH Flat Race 18f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A very hot contest to round off proceedings. Three impressive point-to-point winners standout here, while some of those with track form add further strength to the mix. For a selection, TUMUCH gets the nod over Port Joulain. Both went through the ring at Tattersalls Cheltenham in December, with the selection the sale topper when sold for a massive 335,000 pounds. A son of Buck's Boum, he readily dismissed nine rivals when successful at Lingstown, showing a nice turn of foot when stretching clear of the field before the last. Port Joulain made the second highest price when sold for 300,000 pounds. The former Denis Murphy inmate put in a taking performance to win at Borris and now in the care of Willie Mullins, he is sure to go close. Good N' Kind was sold privately after an easy win on his second start at Dromahane, and it'll be interesting to see how this Arctic Cosmos bay fares. Whatsyourproblem went down by just a length over flights at Clonmel last month and looks to have solid place claims, while others for the shortlist are course and distance runner-up Kate Knows Best and the Gavin Cromwell-trained His Nibs.

Two expensive point recruits representing top connections are likely to dominate this, with PORT JULAIN taking marginal preference over Tumuch, although both appeal as bright prospects. Whatsyourproblem showed up well in a novice hurdle and Clonmel, so he makes most appeal of the remainder.

It's hard to oppose PORT JOULAIN who made easy work of a point on debut and the 2nd went close at Doncaster since

18:00 Chelmsford Maiden (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Even though he cost 1.8 million guineas, VENETIAN STYLE was the lesser fancied of two stablemates on his Kempton debut and he ran green to finish fifth. However, the winner of that race - a 2000 Guineas entrant - emphatically boosted the form next time out, which bodes well for the selection now he has some experience, has been gelded, and goes with cheekpieces added. Sea Ice and Endosser jointly set the standard and appeal most from the rest.

ENDOSSER is the most experienced runner in the line-up here and, with stamina doubts about the main threat on form Sea Ice, gets the nod. It's perhaps concerning Venetian Style was gelded so quickly after his debut having cost nearly 2 million gns as a foal but he should know more this time and is the pick for third.

Endosser is looking exposed now and the concession of the 5lb sex allowance to SEA ICE may prove beyond him.

18:10 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 3) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

GREAT CHIEFTAIN was the subject of betting support when finishing fifth on his introduction at Newmarket back in November and, with that experience under his belt, the son of Gleneagles gets the vote to open his account here. Arctic Dawn left his ordinary debut effort well behind when a running-on second after being slowly away over 6f at Kempton, and he may emerge as the biggest danger to the selection. Rocking Tree has moved to the in-form George Boughey team and he commands attention, especially if the market speaks favourably.

An open-looking novice event with the vote in favour of GREAT CHIEFTAIN. The son of Gleneagles shaped with plenty of promise amidst obvious signs of inexperience when fifth on debut at Newmarket in November and he's just the type to flourish as a 3-y-o. Rocking Tree, on debut for George Boughey, and Arctic Dawn, who looks sure to be suited by this step up in trip, head the dangers.

Eulace Peacock and Rocking Tree have plenty of experience but ARCTIC DAWN probably has more potential.

18:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TEN O'CLOCK has been close up on both of her last two starts and with Saffie Osborne presumably choosing her over stablemate Tenet, there are solid reasons to expect a bold showing. So Obsessed rates the chief danger, given she was too keen over 6f on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton, and certainly looks worth a try over the minimum trip. Ludberg is also considered with a first-time visor added.

About as weak a contest as you could find, but at least TEN O'CLOCK arrives with a pair of creditable recent efforts and she's hard to oppose on that form. So Obsessed was down the field on her handicap debut but there was a modicum of promise on qualifying run so she rates as the main danger, whilst the remaining quartet have no worthwhile form to their name; handicap-newcomer Tenet is perhaps most open to improvement.

Ten O'Clock is taken on with SO OBSESSED, who ran better than her final position latest and should be suited by the drop from 6f.

18:40 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

CON TE PARTIRO scored cosily when sporting first-time-cheekpieces (retained) on his handicap debut over a mile at Kempton and, nudged up just 2lb, he gets the vote to come home in front once more. Rising Force wasn't seen to best effect after being slowly away and held up off a steady pace over C&D last month, and he must not be written off yet. The step back up in trip should suit Mr Tibbs and he warrants a second look. Sunblock won here before disappointing at short odds over 7f at Newcastle on Thursday but still commands respect now turned out quickly over a longer trip.

CON TE PARTIRO improved markedly to land a gamble on handicap debut at Kempton last time and a 2-lb rise is unlikely to be enough to stop him with further progress on the cards. Sunblock ran poorly at Newcastle a couple of days ago but is far from one to be writing off if she lines up. Rising Force should give his running once more.

This can go to CON TE PARTIRO who made a successful handicap debut at Kempton last month. He should be suited by this stiffer test.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BENEFICIARY successfully justified favouritism by a length over C&D last month, and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent him recording a double. Boom The Groom is only 3lb higher than his last winning mark and he has Luke Morris back on board, so more can be expected compared to his fifth at Lingfield last time. Of the remainder, New Hope Bullet makes the most appeal in first-time blinkers.

NEW HOPE BULLET can have a line put through her below-par effort at Wolverhampton 12 days ago (harried in front) so, in another change of headgear, Alice Haynes' 4-y-o gets the nod at the expense of Beneficiary, who notched his first success in handicap company over C&D 2 weeks ago and should be bang there from a 4 lb higher mark. The Defiant and Alafdhal can fight out third spot.

A C&D winner off 7lb higher last summer, THE DEFIANT looks ready to take advantage of a handy mark. Beneficiary is next best.

AWESOME SPIRIT took a step back in the right direction when filling the runner-up berth over 7f here in January and he has since undergone wind surgery. Mick Appleby's four-year-old remains on the same mark and looks well placed to shed his maiden tag. Come On Girl, who was only beaten a neck into second over track and trip last month, has to be respected, while Mine That Ship is another to consider on her first start for the Michael Wigham yard.

AWESOME SPIRIT put in his most encouraging effort for current connections when finishing runner-up over 7f here a couple of months ago and now back sprinting, Mick Appleby's 4-y-o is fancied to open his account on the back of a breathing operation. Stablemate Come On Girl is holding her form really well, so she's put forward as the main threat, ahead of Sumac and Vitalline.

SMART DEAL bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort here, and the step up from 7f can help him go one better. Alice Haynes' charge is preferred to the reliable Cue's Beau and Got No Dollars, who has been in excellent form of late and has run well here before. A winner over C&D on her penultimate outing, Wadacre Grace is expected to be thereabouts as well.

BRUNEL CHARM bounced back to form with the blinkers left off when finishing runner-up at Kempton last month, so Lee Carter's relatively new recruit gets the nod to go one better and snap a losing streak closing in on a couple of years. Smart Deal ran a cracker when edged out over 1m here recently, so he heads up the opposition, with Got No Dollars and Cue's Bow also fancied to go well.

Got No Dollars is taken on with CUE'S BEAU, who is lightly raced and up to winning off this mark if seeing out the easy 1m.

20:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ISLAND NATIVE did it well when making all at Lingfield, and a 6lb rise looks manageable as he aims to notch up a third career success. That may be at the main expense of Once Adaay, who disappointed at Newcastle but has won his only two previous starts here. Conquest Of Power (second) has two lengths to make up on the selection from their Lingfield encounter but will appreciate a return to this track, having scored over C&D in January.

ISLAND NATIVE looks the most solid option on the back of a pretty decisive success at Lingfield where he proved 2 lengths too strong for Conquest of Power. A 6 lb rise for that looks manageable and he may well benefit from a soft lead. Conquest of Power can be expected to give another good account but Golden Passport, who has edged down to an attractive mark, is feared most.

The Lingfield handicap in which ISLAND NATIVE beat Conquest Of Power looks the key formline, with the former fancied to follow up.
