PLANTERS PUNCH won on his debut at Hereford before taking a decent step forward under a 7lb penalty at Bangor. That form sets a tough standard and Nicky Henderson, who has utilised these contests with some interesting types, may have another exciting prospect for novice hurdles next season. Guts And Glory was no match for a stable companion of the selection at Market Rasen but remains capable of improvement, while Longmoor heads the remainder.

This can go to Nicky Henderson's unbeaten gelding PLANTERS PUNCH who was impressive at Bangor 11 days ago and looks a useful prospect.

SALVATOR MUNDI won the Grade 1 novices' hurdle at this meeting last year and must be taken seriously after he came good with a facile success over fences at Thurles in February. That was just his third start in this discipline and was a big improvement on his previous disappointing sixth in the Racing Post Chase at Leopardstown. Despite this being a more demanding task, the return to this flatter course could be instrumental for the six-year-old taking another big step forward. Mighty Bandit has also made solid progress and fully deserves a crack at a Grade 1 after winning three of his four starts as a chaser. He is progressive and looks a big danger to the selection. Kala Conti's defeat of the subsequent Arkle winner Kargese at Cork reads very well and is the ready pick of Gordon Elliott's pair. Be Aware disappointed in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham but is another who should find this course more to his liking.

Last year's Top Novices' Hurdle resulted in a smooth success for SALVATOR MUNDI and he now looks to be coming to the boil over fences.

It's Maisy has been a beaten-favourite on her last two starts and is likely to prove popular again, but the less-exposed ROYAL MAGGS gets the nod. Mark Walford's charge looked a shade outpaced when keeping on for second over the extended 2m4f here last month so stepped up in trip for her handicap bow, the daughter of Telescope can take a step forward. Seasmoke is next best.

This looks an excellent opportunity for IT'S MAISY (nap) to gain a deserved first success of the current campaign.

TENTER LE TOUT returns to the scene of her most notable success in the Finale and the drop in grade after contesting the Triumph Hurdle gives Chester Williams' filly a fine opportunity to end her season in the right manner. Molten Sea won easily at Kempton last month and she appears to be the obvious threat, despite giving plenty of weight to the selection. Jollie Dame looks best of the remainder.

The vote goes to TENTER LE TOUT who had a tough task in the Triumph last month and sets a clear standard back in much calmer waters.

Dan Skelton has excelled in this event and sends out Supremely West with a decent chance of becoming his yard's fourth winner since 2019. The eight-year-old appreciated the return to 3m when he emerged as the ready winner of Pertemps at Cheltenham and assuming this doesn't come too soon, he can go close. However, a 9lb rise does require more and with that in mind, a chance is taken on QUANTUM QUEST making the most of a fair chance on these terms. The Henry De Bromhead-trained six-year-old stays well, is effective on the ground and has a 5lb pull with the Skelton horse from the last time they met. A chance can be taken on THE CLONMEL KID, who shaped with promise on his fencing bow, despite appearing to not see out 3m at Wetherby. The seven-year-old should be all the wiser for that experience and with the scope for improvement, especially over this shorter trip, he might provide some value. Hawkseye View fell here two starts ago before struggling in a class 2 at Carlisle but is in with a shout, as is Bravethewaves, who will relish the return to chasing.

Bravethewaves may offer competition for the lead but C&D regular EMPTY NEST gets the vote. The Clonmel Kid is second choice.

Pep Talking returned from a break when runner-up at Kempton and he is entitled to progress from that outing. Koapey may not have appreciated a tongue-tie at Wetherby and could bounce back.

The return to this C&D swings the vote in favour of BALLYBREEZE, ahead of last year's runner-up Dj Pete.

Gordon Elliott has won the last four renewals and can extend the run with BALLYFAD. Having been kicked at the start in a messy beginning to the Turners at Cheltenham, it can pay to overlook the five-year-old's latest start and judge him on the progress he made beforehand. Having filled the runner-up berth in Grade 1 company at the Dublin Racing Festival, his credentials are solid. The fact he flies the flag as Elliott's sole runner is a key signal of intent. Bossman Jack fared better to finish sixth in the Turners and is a serious player once again. The dependable Scorpio Rising, Charisma Cat and Came From Nowhere all have each-way appeal.

Running a big race in the Turners at Cheltenham only to blunder at the final flight, BOSSMAN JACK earns the vote.

That's not the case with THE UBERMENSCH, who has shown progressive form on the all-weather and was unlucky not to get off the mark on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton on Monday. A step forward form Michael Bell's colt could suffice here.

National Question regained the winning thread with a narrow success at Carlisle last month but a 4lb rise looks a little harsh and so TOBY TWO SCOOPS is preferred. Micky Hammond's charge has been knocking hard at the door of late but it might be that the better ground can bring about an improved display. Lone Star is another to consider.

Well clear of the rest in second, the son of Getaway is expected to improve further now handicapping. A dual winner on testing going, Authodidacte has a hike in the weights to contend with, while In The Air reverts to hurdling off a fair mark. He has shown improved form over fences and another good effort looks assured.

Top of the list is AUTHODIDACTE (nap) who is 2-2 over hurdles and put in a dominant display at Uttoxeter on her comeback in December.

CRUZ CONTROL lifted this prize in 2024 and a trio of moderate efforts didn't stop him from repeating the dose 12 months ago. Tom Lacey's charge arrives in similar form this time around but this will have undoubtedly be the target, especially seeing as he's only 1lb higher than last year. It would be quite the feat to win this again but this C&D clearly brings out the best in him. Dan Skelton's Mr Hope Street has few miles on the clock over fences and makes considerable appeal from a handy weight, as does Ladbrokes Trophy winner Lookaway, for all that a 6lb rise will make things tougher. Ben Pauling was bullish about the chances of Bad at Kempton latest so don't write him off at a big price.

Being fresher than most and still unexposed over fences, BRAVE FORTUNE may be the answer. Mr Hope Street is second choice.

Last seen when finishing third in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes at Newmarket, DEL MARO sets a good standard and is very much the one they will all have to overcome. Knowledge edged out an odds-on favourite to make a winning debut at Southwell in January but faces a very stiff test conceding a 7lb penalty to the Godolphin-owned colt, while Sintra's two previous efforts were respectable enough to suggest he can pick up a handicap somewhere along the line. Florentine Law is the pick of the two newcomers.

Although DEL MARO was expensive to follow as a 2yo, he ran to a high level in defeat and can make a winning reappearance.

With the ground to suit and his trainer in fine form, it's possible that PARISENCORE can return to better form from this easing mark.

Camulus returned from nearly a year off with a victory at Wincanton in February. He bids for a four-timer raised only 4lb, but may find THE BOOLA BOSS too strong. Rebecca Curtis' charge returned the easy winner of this contest last year and, back on the same mark with a decent fourth at Newbury under his belt, he is expected to launch another strong challenge. Gris Majeur looks to be treading water off his current rating, but could still make the frame.

Camulus is strongly respected in his bid for a four-timer but slight preference is for last year's winner THE BOOLA BOSS.

A fine renewal of this illustrious contest, not least because last year's one-two Hiddenvalley Lake and Strong Leader lock horns again. Shock Stayers' Hurdle winner Home By The Lee bids to be the first veteran to win this since the classy Sire Du Berlais in 2022 and 2023, whilst the impressive BetMGM Cup victor Jingko Blue deserves to take his chance at this level and must not be underestimated. Stable companion Impose Toi was pulled up in the Stayers' but he did land the Long Walk at Ascot in December. The fact he isn't even near the top of the betting market currently shows just how competitive this is, so it isn't much of a surprise that only a tentative vote can go to HONESTY POLICY. Gordon Elliott's charge has work to do to reverse form with a few of these but it the way in which he travelled into the contest at Cheltenham was taking. Last year's Mersey success still lives fresh in the memory so returning to a flatter track will be no bad thing and if a first-time tongue-tie can work the oracle, he may well take a significant step forward.

Honesty Policy is feared but STRONG LEADER has an excellent record at Aintree, including in this race, and he's the selection.

OTTOMAN EMPRESS built on a promising Newmarket debut to win a maiden over a mile here last October. As a half-sister to the high-class Ottoman Fleet, the Charlie Appleby-trained filly has stacks of potential and stepping up in trip should suit. Bint Kilfrush, who cost 550,000 euros as a yearling, is a logical danger after her successful introduction on Tapeta at Southwell on New Year's Day. Maldives, who cost 2,900,000gns, and I'm The One are attractively-bred newcomers to monitor in the betting.

A good race in which the promising OTTOMAN EMPRESS can come out on top. Bintsaleh heads a long list of dangers.

A win and second-placed finish over fences at Sedgefield make him the one to beat and he's no stranger to scoring over hurdles, as evidenced this time last year when he recorded a double at Carlisle and Kelso. As Fast As Wind and Thank You Blue are the dangers.

The safest option is AS FAST AS WIND, who did her level best when a close third in a competitive series final at Musselburgh recently.

It may be worth forgiving the last run of I AM THE MOON, who pulled up after never travelling at Ludlow, and she is better judged on her comfortable Doncaster win in February off 4lb lower. She gets on well with James Turner, who is value for his claim, and may be able to dominate this field from the off. Fergal O'Brien has been among the winners so a big run from Harmony Heights seems likely, with Katie's Melody another to consider.

This is a headscratcher because all of the runners were well beaten last time out. The tentative choice is PRESENTING DOY.

SOMETHING should be fine switching to turf on the back of a creditable Kempton second and he will go well if arriving in the same form as last year's Ripon efforts rather than his performance here in a Racing League handicap. Siouxfonic boasts an attractive unexposed profile and looks sure to be in the thick of the action, while Yaa Min is another to note.

A few to consider but SOMETHING is back on his winning turf mark in 2025 and shaped nicely from off the pace on the AW last time.

GRANGECLARE WEST may well have challenged for victory 12 months ago had he not made a bad mistake at the final fence before staying on strongly from the Elbow to finish third. Following the same route of all three of Willie Mullins' Aintree heroes, having landed the Bobbyjo at Fairyhouse last time, he has a strong chance of going two places better. 2024 winner I Am Maximus split him and the now-absent Nick Rockett when attempting to defend his crown and arrives having shown high-class form when runner-up in the Savills at Leopardstown in December. Cheekpieces go back on to aid his cause but he may need softer ground to be truly at his best. Iroko's lack of experience may have told when fourth 12 months ago and he had a valid excuse for underperforming when scoping dirty after the Ultima at Cheltenham, where the same owner's Johnnywho got the better of Jagwar. The latter is a particularly interesting runner and is equipped with first-time cheekpieces, but his tendency to clout the odd fence could hamper his claims. Panic Attack already has two major handicap successes to her name this campaign with the Paddy Power/Coral Gold Cup double and she has to be respected along with Monty's Star, who ran with plenty of promise in the Irish Gold Cup, Haiti Couleurs and Captain Cody.

KARRYGRANT can play a leading role in this curtain-raiser and should be suited by coming back in trip. Johnny Murtagh's runner was second over 7f on his sole start last term, but was too keen when fading into fourth over 1m2f on his comeback run at Navan. He'll be fitter for the outing and can put his pace to good use over this sharper track. Flawless Fusion was twice runner-up on soft ground last year and comes from a stable hitting top form. Suspicious Mindz has a healthy rating but it may flatter him, as he didn't build on his third in a Listed contest at Tipperary in two subsequent starts.

A decent maiden to kick off the card and Joseph O'Brien's FLAWLESS FUSION should prove too strong for her rivals on return

Enemy Agent justified market support on debut at Kempton and the performance should be marked up given he showed signs of greenness. However, this is a lot tougher on his turf bow under a penalty and runner-up GENERIC could quite easily reverse the form now 7lb better off at the weights for a head defeat. My Mate Roger and Master Of Keraunos add further spice to the race.

Plenty of possibles in a competitive novice. AL MASLOOL should have more to offer and is tentatively preferred to My Mate Roger.

DIAMOND KODA couldn't land a blow at Newbury but might be worth another chance while an impressive Doncaster success two starts ago remains fresh in the memory. The trip, ground and track should suit and he gets the nod ahead of Dunkerque, who has to concede weight all round on the back of a disappointing Wetherby display, but it was much better when he finished second at Sedgefield prior to that. Lost Frequencies is another to bear in mind.

A winnable novice. LOST FREQUENCIES has shown the most ability, so hopefully can make a winning debut for Sam England.

Inion Tiogair is the only C&D winner in this line-up after going in last month but although her consistency lately is admirable, an added 3lb makes life more difficult. THORGATH looked the likeliest winner when sent to the lead two out before finishing third here in February. With a first-time tongue-tie applied, he could come out on top if he is produced a little later, with Cameron Iles 5lb claim a bonus. Shan't Wait and the long-absent Saint Vic are others to consider.

Top of the list is the unexposed 5yo THORGATH who has gone close in both his handicaps including over C&D last time.

Just the three runners but with all of them winning last time out this still looks competitive. WICKSEY has won his last three since being stepped up in trip and although upped 6lb for his latest victory over C&D, he should get his own way on the front end which will allow him to save enough for the finish. Magnetude ran on well to get up at Wolverhampton and will presumably try similar tactics, leaving the returning Galilean Quality for third.

Preference is for the improving MAGNETUDE, who still looks ahead of his mark despite being raised 4lb for his Wolverhampton win.

Michael Mulvany does well at this venue and NEPHIN MOUNTAIN can build on a promising seasonal and handicap debut at Gowran Park on Wednesday. There was market support for the Supremacy gelding, who moved into contention early in the straight before tiring to finish fourth over 7f. The trainer is not averse to turning his horses out again quickly and he does well in three-year-old handicaps. The Delany family have been associated with Bellewstown for a long time and Dream Legend, who showed promise on his final start at two, is one to note off a light weight and with a run under his belt. Glamazon had some good runs in nurseries on easy ground and drops in grade now.

Bass Hunter sets a high standard and has strong claims on his resolute third in last month's Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. Another bold bid is anticipated with Harry Cobden taking over the reins, but LOOK ME could prove up to the challenge. The French-bred five-year-old represents last year's winning connections and returned to action with a taking victory at Fairyhouse last month. Willie Mullins' charge had a subsequent winner back in third and it would be no surprise if he proves capable at this higher level. One Knight is going the right way and landed a brace with last month's Hereford success, while Ronnie Russet and The Perfect Poet could also shape well.

Willie Mullins' Look Me is respected but the form pick is Cheltenham Festival third BASS HUNTER, who can regain the winning thread.

ORGANISE went into plenty of notebooks when scorching the Southwell Tapeta on debut in November. The Gosdens' colt won by an impressive seven lengths and is a three-year-old to watch out for this season. Outback Heat also won on his introduction at Newcastle and cannot be overlooked, while Ya Karim brings course-winning form to the table and might be able to find more improvement in a first-time hood.

Ya Karim is promising but ORGANISE's debut win smacked of star quality and he can defy a penalty before his sights are raised.

He is entitled to have improved plenty for that outing and can give these rivals weight and a beating. Attin is a newcomer to consider closely and the market should guide, while Doubleosue won a point-to-point in January and is also noted.

He has won off higher marks in his youth and a clear run could prompt a first win since January last year. Victors Spirit makes his handicap debut off a lowly mark in a first-time hood which is interesting, though Everyoneknowsadave could be a bigger danger.

The vote goes to the consistent TORTURED SOUL, whose record over C&D currently stands at 11221. Pleasant Man is second choice.

KAKORI bombed out when favourite for a handicap run in deplorable conditions at the Curragh last month, but it may pay to give her another chance. Joseph O'Brien's filly was found to have returned with a few grazes to a hock, so may not have been able to give of her best, and she ran a lovely race on handicap debut at Gowran Park in October. There must still be every chance that she's on a good mark. Goldrush Kid will enjoy conditions and already has two creditable recent runs under his belt this season, while Queen Aethelflaed was in great form at the back end of last year and returns from a break.

The consistent QUEEN AETHELFLAED lacks a recent run but her yard is flying and ran well off this mark when last seen at Dundalk

PIXIE DIVA showed promise on turf last season and displayed her versatility when scoring on the all-weather at Newcastle last time. George Scott's filly still has time to do much better and, with the notable booking of Oisin Murphy, she receives a confident vote. The consistent Almaty Star should give his running again and don't rule out dual C&D winner Thunder Star, who 'won' on her side at the Lincoln meeting on her reappearance.

Golden Long should be winning races soon but ALMATY STAR is down in class on his return to turf and may be able to dominate.

Charlie Appleby's King Of Thebes finally makes his debut having been bought for 1,500,000gns as a yearling, but the fact that he has been gelded ahead of his first start and sports cheekpieces suggests he may have temperament issues. Al Azd has finished second on his last three starts and is becoming frustrating to follow, so the nod goes to SAILOR SONG. The second Godolphin runner, he stayed on well when second over shorter at Doncaster and may put his experience to good use.

Al Azd's seconditis may well continue, with fellow major form contender SAILOR SONG likely to show further progress.

Third at Navan on his reappearance, HAPPY HENRY can reverse that form with Alnofoor. A strong traveller who moved through that race stylishly, the Willie McCreery-trained gelding just weakened late on up the stiff hill. Back on a flatter track here, the five-year-old has every chance of overturning his conqueror on these revised terms. The aforementioned Alnofoor has to again hold every chance, despite the definite negative of a wide draw. If Jack Kearney can switch the gelding inside early on, he should be weaving his way through runners at the finish. The veteran Art Of Unity cannot be ruled out with any great confidence on a track where he has excelled in the not too distant past.

Michael Bell's yard has been ticking along nicely and, with that in mind, a chance can be taken on SPORTS DAY. The son of Lope De Vega was well held in novice/maiden events last term, but he moves into handicaps from a workable mark and wouldn't need to find stacks of improvement. Similar applies to Lady Vanguard and Phantom Shadow, while the consistent Station Bar wouldn't be without a chance either.

The only time HAYYNAH has finished outside the first two was when she was tried in Listed company, and she was hardly disgraced there. Ollie Sangster's filly stuck her neck out to deservedly get off the mark over C&D and a mark of 81 on her handicap debut seems workable. Comic Strip went down with all guns blazing when on a hat-trick at Newcastle, although the horse immediately behind him went on to finish much further adrift of Ambishio when that one broke through here.

Comic Strip can be dangerous but AMBISHIO was suited by this C&D when making his AW debut and he could be hard to peg back.

BAY OF SUPREMACY can step up from an encouraging reappearance at Naas last month. Prominent throughout, the Johnny Murtagh-trained three-year-old only gave best in the closing stages. With the winner of that race going on to frank the form subsequently, there is much to like about the chances of the Supremacy gelding. The lightly-raced Amiata has to be respected on just his second start in handicap company. Sure to come on from a recent outing at Cork, the Ger Lyons-trained representative looks one of the more likely winners. Topweight Nezeeh needs to return to form but cannot be discounted under his very capable apprentice jockey.

This could turn into a battle of the 3yos and the front-running BAY OF SUPREMACY is fancied to see off the challenge of Amiata

Brother Dave has been holding his form well, while Hannah's Return isn't without a chance, but JUST KING HIGH beat a subsequent winner to the runner-up berth at Wolverhampton and can go one better on his first appearance for the Ross Burdon team.

The vote goes to TIMELY AFFAIR, who remains quite lightly raced and didn't enjoy the rub of the green when runner-up at Kempton latest.

With the Joseph O'Brien string in rude health, OBSCENITY can provide the trainer with yet another success. Fourth in a big field at the Curragh on his final start last term, the Fastnet Rock gelding is almost certainly capable of better. With an official rating of just 66, it is surely significant that leading connections have elected to keep him in training as a four-year-old. Perhaps the application of first-time cheekpieces will bring about the necessary improvement. Runner-up at Gowran Park on Wednesday, Justenzia has every chance of going one better, as long as the race doesn't come too soon. Baila Conmigo would be interesting if replicating his all-weather form back on grass.

Off the track since September 2024, LADY MAIREN can make a winning reappearance. Sent off a short price when second at Galway on debut, the Paddy Twomey-trained filly then finished fourth in a Group 3 at the Curragh before ending her campaign when a close-up third at Gowran Park. Given the fact that connections have persevered with the daughter of Dubawi, it's fair to assume that she retains plenty of ability. If that's the case, she really should be winning a race such as this. Runner-up at this track last July, Jannah Star remains a maiden after five starts. Although one of her stable's lesser lights, she should win a maiden. Curragh third Forthill looks best of the rest.

JOE COOL has had a recent run, the form of that race has since been boosted and this longer trip should suit

THANKUAPPRECIATE has had a couple of starts over 7f since scoring over C&D in February. He had a subsequent winner back in third on that occasion and Declan Carroll's charge looks worth another chance reverting to this shorter trip. Kirkdale resumed winning ways in decisive fashion at Wolverhampton last week and could prove competitive again, while the maiden winner Farandaway is usually in the mix at this level.

The consistent PIPERSTOWN has won a couple of times at Wolverhampton so far this year, including his latest outing. However, Kevin Frost's charge is equally effective at this venue and can lay down another strong challenge. Fircombe Hall has also been in winning form at Wolverhampton and Hollie Doyle's presence in the saddle takes the eye, while Kamekist bounced back with a close third here in February and could also feature.

Kamekist holds claims for an in-form yard but HE'S AN ANGEL is preferred now he's back down to 0-55 company and fitted with a hood.
