Launched handicap career with two good AW runs this year, and may still have potential.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

CITY OF DREAMS has been competitive on both starts in handicap company and the switch to turf combined with Harry Vigors taking 7lb off gives him an ideal opportunity to gain his first career success. Liquid Cooled won at Newcastle on his first run after a break before running with credit for fourth at Pontefract. He has to be a threat if settling better, while Alice's Influence could benefit from a first-time visor.

Unlucky not to finish closer than fourth in his two AW handicaps this year, CITY OF DREAMS gets the vote ahead of Liquid Cooled.

Best 2yo effort when second at Newcastle behind a filly who has franked the form since.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Galileo Charm has held her form throughout a busy all-weather campaign, and Light The Night Up also has fitness on her side thanks to her C&D fourth. They come up against some interesting handicap debutants, not least REEM RAK, whose best two juvenile efforts came at Newcastle, but there is nothing in her pedigree at least to suggest she won't handle the turf. Laughterintherain took a big step forward to get closest to an odds-on favourite at Lingfield, while Valkyrie Storm and Ten Sixty Six have plenty to recommend them.

Judged on her best novice effort, REEM RAK (nap) looks particularly interesting. Light The Night Up is second pick.

PRINCLING showed plenty of ability on both starts as a juvenile and the son of Kingman is expected to be a warm order. The form of his Newmarket second was boosted by the winner following up at Southwell on Thursday and the step up to a mile promises to bring about improvement. Ervani comes from an excellent Aga Khan family and has to command the utmost respect on debut. Unchartedterritory heads the remainder based on his fourth at Ayr in September.

Winning a novice race ought to be a formality for PRINCLING, who was second behind useful rivals on both his 2yo starts.

Quantum Swift and Dei Gratia Regina showed potential at Wolverhampton and Bath respectively, but they come up against some really interesting newcomers. Top of that list is BASSRAH, a 110,000gns daughter of Wootton Bassett who is from the family of Classic winners Legatissimo and Fame And Glory. Archie Watson has made a flying start with his juveniles so Phalanx Nation commands attention. Dubai Charm cost 90,000 pounds and is out of a half-sister to the high-class Brussels, while King's Prize and Iris Olivia will attract their fair share of support too.

Most of the newcomers have good credentials, particularly PHALANX NATION, Bassrah and King's Prize.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content,

Successful on debut at Sandown before finishing runner-up in a German Group 3, SEA THE STORM is taken to defy a 7lb penalty having switched to William Haggas' yard. Her pedigree suggests the extra couple of furlongs will see her in a better light and a sounder surface shouldn't be an inconvenience. Stable companion Pierian is out of an Irish Oaks winner and is respected along with Nowshesdancing, a winner at Dundalk in January.

As SEA THE STORM has been second in a German Group 3, today's rivals (probably headed by newcomers) need to be good to beat her.

Phoenix Moon seems happiest on an artificial surface and stuck her neck out to make a successful start to the campaign at Lingfield. If she can translate that form to turf, she will be the one to beat but ORBITAL CHIME is worth another chance. James Owen's six-year-old wasn't able to show his true colours at Southwell, but went close at Thirsk before that and will relish the return to 6f. Winchurch is most effective at 5f and may be found wanting in the closing stages.

The Verdict comprises the attractively handicapped contenders ORBITAL CHIME, Winchurch and King David.

Passing Thought was tried in Listed company on her final juvenile start and found that a bridge too far. Now handicapping off a mark of 80, this looks a much more realistic opportunity, but HASBRO MARKET gets the vote. David O'Meara's charge backed up his Thirsk success when runner-up at Ayr, giving away weight to the opposition, and more is expected after a gelding operation. Sanaam and Back To Me are others with strong credentials making their handicap debuts.

AW winners Sanaam and Back To Me are respected but PASSING THOUGHT has good claims if judged on last summer's Goodwood second.

DWINDLING FUNDS was a fine moneyspinner last year, mainly at Ayr, but goes well at this venue too and found only one too strong on his comeback here. Jim Goldie's gelding remains on the same rating and can take full advantage of the drop back to a mile. Stablemate Ayr Poet also enjoyed a good 2025, although he doesn't have the benefit of a recent run. Harry The Rogue almost sprung a Newcastle surprise, with Eazy On The Eye also making the frame on that card, but Swift Salian is feared most following his Pontefract near-miss.

The 5yo DWINDLING FUNDS enjoyed a stellar second half of 2025 and his recent reappearance second here bodes very well for his claims.

Elashgar has been gelded since letting down odds-on backers at Wolverhampton so better is anticipated. Bold Return made a pleasing reappearance at Southwell, and Faithful Dream responded well to the application of cheekpieces to make the frame over 5f here. SEA HER EXCEL has first-time headgear fitted, with a hood hopefully getting her to settle better. She has also undergone wind surgery so the pieces are in place for an improved effort. Fellow handicap debutant Noble Gentleman warrants consideration too.

Archie Watson has made a fine start to the season and LAYLA LIZ, who scored at Wolverhampton last month, makes plenty of appeal switching back to turf for the first time since making a winning debut at Leicester. It was a fine training effort from the Lambourn handler considering she was coming back from over a year off and a 3lb rise appears more than fair. Nad Alshiba Green was runner-up on that occasion and has a 2lb pull with the selection, while better is expected from Smart Vision after being badly hampered on his return at Beverley.

Returned to the scene of her last win, NAD ALSHIBA GREEN may well reverse reappearance placings with Layla Liz.

HARSWELL RUBY showed her appreciation for the return to turf when justifying favouritism at Thirsk. The third has come out since and run well so a 3lb rise for Roger Fell's filly may be lenient. A wind operation has improved American State, who has won two out of his last three starts, and he remains unexposed on grass. Sea Suite is well treated on this surface, while Dovey Moon paid his way last year and is a contender if ready to roll.

The drop back down in class can see SEA SUITE (nap) resume winning ways. American State may give him most to think about.

Salaria may have spoiled her chance before the race at Pontefract and there will be plenty who keep the faith. Naturalia also hit the crossbar on her comeback, although the winner did nothing for the form earlier in the week. Epidavros and Sovereign Bright are a couple more to consider.

The 3yo SOVEREIGN BRIGHT is unexposed on turf and, with her best run coming at Doncaster last June, she earns the vote back on grass.

SEE THE FIRE was campaigned solely in Group 1 company after her demolition job in the Middleton at York last May. The fact she escapes any penalties here makes her very tough to oppose and she is rated a stone higher than Lava Stream, who hasn't run since the 2024 Yorkshire Oaks. David O'Meara's mare did show some smart form that season, most notably when runner-up in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot, and will be the main threat if ready to roll. Despite being the lowest-rated member of the line-up, That's Amore's sole defeat came when fourth to Minnie Hauk at Chester and she arrives fresh from winning a novice event at Southwell.

Class-dropper SEE THE FIRE is well clear on the figures and may prove difficult to beat. Love Dynasty is second pick.

Successful on debut before a third at Doncaster when with Roger Varian, the son of Showcasing blew the cobwebs away for his new stable at Lingfield last month and is expected to step forward. King's Crown is back down to his last winning mark so is worth a look.

Smart hurdler HAMLET'S NIGHT capitalised on his handy Flat mark when successful at Kempton in February, since when he has been beaten twice back over obstacles. There is more room for manoeuvre with his rating in this sphere, though, and he is preferred to Fast Fred, who confirmed the promise of his comeback second at Newcastle by going one better over C&D. Rising Sky also arrives in winning form, although she must compete from out of the handicap. Eroico is interesting on her first appearance for Martin Todhunter.

The most solid options appear to be NIGHT BREEZE, Fast Fred and Hamlet's Night, preferred in that order.

Codiak failed in his bid for a hat-trick when only third at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, but that was still a fair effort and he should remain competitive. Course winner Just An Hour remains on a workable figure and is noted, but ROCK N ROLL PINKIE gets the vote. Ivan Furtado's charge had Imperial Sovereign behind in fourth when beaten two lengths into second at Southwell and could go one better.

Competitive. CODIAK is relatively lightly raced and may have unfinished business at this trip, appearing in only his second 1m6f race.

Aisling Oscar has been an absolute credit to his connections as he continues to hold his form well after eight wins on the bounce during the winter months. It will be interesting to see if he can translate that kind of form to grass, but MASTER RICHARD makes the most appeal. A winner on his last turf outing at Thirsk in September, he went close to making a successful start for his new handler at Newcastle and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go one better. Others to consider include Salam Dubawi, who makes his debut for Jim Goldie, and Benacre.

The 8yo MISTER BLUEBIRD has a handy mark to work with, allied with a good record here, and he gets the nod ahead of Master Richard.

Shady Bay struck over track and trip last July before completing a double at Newbury. Her form tapered off afterwards but she has to be of interest on her return to the fray. This represents only her second appearance for the Edward Smyth-Osbourne stable and she looks the one to beat. Solanna completes the shortlist.

Kurios Lady was eye-catching at Kempton on her handicap debut but a bold show from GLINT OF LIGHT at Doncaster earns the vote.

ALTHER WALDEN ran out an impressive winner on his handicap bow at Newcastle when very much giving the impression that he would relish a stiffer test of stamina and a 6lb rise doesn't appear to be insurmountable. Senor Cortez is likely to appreciate the return to turf after running creditably on yard debut at Lingfield and can reverse the form with the winner St Faz. Talismans Time found the Melrose too much and the ease in grade gives him every chance of bouncing back on his first run since.

Further improvement from the lightly raced hat-trick seeker ALTHER WALDEN (nap) may seal the argument. Whimsy may follow him home.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
