Dropping in class and trip could be a good combination for HIBERNATE, who is back on a winning mark and won't need to find much to stamp his authority under top weight. Merapi is feared the most following a respectable second over 1m here last time. Michael Keady's filly is still a maiden after 12 previous attempts but is too well handicapped to dismiss. Twilight Guest runs off 5lb below his last successful rating and is another to consider.

The two most likely winners seem to be HIBERNATE from the front or Merapi stepped up in trip.

Progressive on the all-weather so far this year, KARAKULA DANCER makes plenty of appeal back on this surface. The son of Palace Pier beat a couple of subsequent winners when scoring at Wolverhampton last time, so a 2lb rise looks unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Kameko Fever ran well for a long way when fourth at Musselburgh, having gone close in this lower grade before that, while Ephron is one to note on his handicap debut.

The attractively bred ICE CUBE is taken to make a winning handicap debut on his first run since being gelded.

LTO Selection:hiden content,

SEATHEGULLS was fancied for the Brocklesby and showed up well for a long way before fading into seventh. He should know more about what is expected of him and is marginally preferred to El Lambo, who displayed some ability at Newbury. Archie Watson's two-year-olds have hit the ground running so Kodi Bear colt Alpe d'Huez tops the list of interesting newcomers.

Sixth in what was probably a good Newbury maiden two weeks ago, EL LAMBO might put his experience to good use here.

LEADER D'ALLIER can end a somewhat frustrating season on a winning note. A five-time scorer in his native France, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding made a satisfactory Irish debut at Leopardstown over Christmas, at a time when his stable wasn't firing on all cylinders. An impressive winner at this circuit next time, the five-year-old had been a Supreme Novices' Hurdle contender before suffering a last-minute setback. Although well beaten at Fairyhouse earlier this month, a bad mistake three out all but ended his chances and he can show his true ability here. Royal Bond fourth Gameball has to be a strong candidate on his first start since November. Unbeaten in a point-to-point, a bumper and a maiden hurdle, Nadia''s Boy also holds claims.

Having been too fresh before making a bad mistake at Fairyhouse last time, LEADER D'ALLIER can put that behind him.

FASHION PEOPLE was a well-backed favourite when successfully introduced at Newcastle on her sole start as juvenile. There was enough in the performance to suggest the daughter of Mehmas is a fair prospect and is a logical choice, despite a 7lb penalty. The well-bred Night Shining, who cost 475,000gns as a yearling, is entitled to be wiser on just her second career start. George Boughey's filly has bags of scope and is feared more than the consistent Baandee on that basis.

Night Shining, Too Too Divine and Venetian Sky can improve but FASHION PEOPLE and Baandee have accomplished much more.

HUNGARIAN boasts the strongest two-year-old form. Third at Ascot prior to his creditable fourth in a valuable sales race at Newmarket in October, he could prove hard to stop if at the top of his game on his reappearance. Lucky Hero has plenty to find with the selection, but he could still have a say in proceedings, while Whernside could also shape well.

Having acquitted himself admirably in the face of some tough tasks last season, HUNGARIAN is taken to get off the mark.

POETIC JACK hasn't managed to get his head in front for a while, but it's not through lack of trying and he was acquitting himself well at Chelmsford prior to a fair Southwell fourth on his return to handicap company. The assessor has dropped him another 1lb and he really should be able to capitalise. Southbank has also maintained a solid level of consistency so far this year and won't be far away. Walking On Clouds was fancied to perform better than he did at Wolverhampton, but might have found his current level now.

Preference is for SOUTHBANK, who was consistent over 6f on Polytrack in the early part of this year.

FUTURE PROSPECT is a tentative selection in a race where Willie Mullins holds a strong hand. An easy winner at Naas in January, the Order Of St George mare failed to fire when pulled up at Cheltenham next time out. However, that was almost certainly not her true running and she proved as much when fourth in a Grade 1 at the Fairyhouse Easter Festival recently. Stablemate Diamond Du Berlais made a winning debut for Mullins at Ludlow before finishing an excellent sixth in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham. A reproduction of that effort would make her hard to beat. The third Mullins representative Blue Velvet is also not without her chance.

Having run a cracker at a big price in the Ryanair Mares' Novice at Cheltenham, DIAMOND DU BERLAIS is the one to beat today.

Venetian Lion is related to several winners and the well-bred newcomer may be the pick of the William Haggas-trained pair, while Alpine Culture and Euston Hall have shown some promise and merit close inspection in the betting market. However, slender preference is for FAHIDI, who debuted in a Sandown maiden that worked out well, before he finished a respectable third at Haydock despite running green. Sure to be wiser, Andrew Balding's colt can get off the mark with another step forward.

Newmarket third ALPINE CULTURE is tipped ahead of Euston Hall but it's not a clear call and plenty of others are in calculations.

Confide In Me won nicely over 7f at Southwell on debut so it's something of a surprise to see her dropped in trip. With that in mind, EGOTISTICAL is preferred, given she finished a respectable third over 6f at Nottingham on her first start on turf. Roger Varian has won two of the last five renewals and his Acclamation filly gets the vote. There is plenty of speed in Viviana's pedigree and she's a newcomer to keep an eye on.

Egotistical holds leading claims following her close third at Nottingham but this could go to Southwell winner CONFIDE IN ME.

Runner-up last year, DESERTMORE HOUSE can go one place better. In front when a mistake at the last arguably cost him the race, the Martin Brassil-trained gelding returned here to easily land the Risk Of Thunder Chase in November. Although only eighth in the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham, the 11-year-old should appreciate returning to this venue. Defending champion Busselton deserves plenty of respect in his bid to follow up. He hasn't been in the same form this year, but a recent switch to 'banks king' Enda Bolger could help rejuvenate the nine-year-old. Cheltenham third Vanillier is another former winner at this track and is not without his chance.

Second in this last year, DESERTEMORE HOUSE is tipped in the hope he can return to form after a lapse in the Glenfarclas at Cheltenham

It's hard to look past ALICE DE CLARE, who made her way through the field to just be denied on her handicap debut at Bath, finishing nicely clear of the third. James Fanshawe's filly competes off the same mark and as long as this quick turnaround doesn't inconvenience her, she will prove hard to beat. Sports Day finished a close third over a mile here earlier in the month and may improve for this step up in trip. Grindleton is another to consider.

Most seemingly depends on whether ALICE DE CLARE is in the same form as one week ago. Sports Day and Grindleton are next best.

BEERWAH is difficult to oppose following his encouraging comeback run at Doncaster last week. Second and beaten just a neck on that occasion, the decision to turn him out quickly suggests he's bounced out of that race in good form and everything points to a bold showing. C&D scorer Doralee commands respect and Miss Rainbow is likely to be thereabouts.

Having been beaten just a neck in a 14-runner handicap at Doncaster on last Friday's reappearance, BEERWAH is selected to go one better.

Desdemona failed in her bid to complete a three-timer when only sixth over 6f here last month, but both of her previous victories came over this distance so there will be plenty who give her another chance. Desdemona is not opposed lightly but TUSCAN POINT is ahead of the handicapper after his clear second at Catterick last week.

Leinster National winner THE LOVELY MAN looks well treated on his return to hurdling. Gavin Cromwell's seven-year-old is a versatile sort who followed up a chase win at Navan in December by scoring over flights at Gowran Park. Given that he appears to have progressed again since his most recent run over the smaller obstacles, he should be a leading contender. Recent Fairyhouse runner-up Blue Mosque is a strong traveller who sees out her races well and the Noel Meade-trained mare is unlikely to be far away. Duke Silver ran a bit below par at Aintree last time but, on his Cheltenham sixth, he would hold every chance.

Unlucky not to have finished closer in the Martin Pipe, KARL DES TOURELLES can improve three places on his run in this race a year ago.

Golden Horse got off the mark over an extended mile at Hamilton prior to only managing sixth under a penalty at Newmarket next time. Charlie Johnston's charge shed his maiden tag at Newcastle in November, shaping as if this step up in distance would bring out improvement, and he looks the one to side with. A Major Payne is the pick of the remainder.

FIERCE FORTITUDE is the safe play in a competitive handicap for punters to solve. He signed off his three-year-old campaign with a victory in a Brighton maiden and his seasonal/handicap debut effort at Wolverhampton represented another step in the right direction. Upped in trip that day and beaten just half a length into second, he's well worth another chance and makes slightly more appeal than the more experienced course second Urban Road and James McHenry.

The very lightly raced 4yo FIERCE FORTITUDE (nap) went close at Wolverhampton last month on his handicap debut and gets the nod.

Willow Wood showed ability in her three appearances last year and is of interest stepping up in trip on her handicap bow. Ghost Story returns to action on a workable figure and is respected, but AMMOONY makes the most appeal. Tom Clover's filly was touched off over an extended mile at Wolverhampton on her comeback and an opening mark of 67 might prove to be lenient.

Preference is for the potential of well-bred filly WILLOW WOOD, who moves up in trip for this seasonal/handicap debut.

RAFFLES DOLCE VITA could be hard to peg back if getting away in front. The Kapgarde gelding really blossomed under front-running tactics at Leopardstown early last month when a cosy winner. He beat the reopposing Come Walk With Me, who went on to score at Fairyhouse, and he is actually a few pounds better off now. English raider Escapeandevade has to be respected. Harry Derham's charge has been progressive and ran well to chase home Palacio at Newbury last time.

Play Me signed off his three-year-old campaign with a good second at Nottingham in October and needs considering on his return to the fray. Super Hit warrants a market check on his first start for James Owen, but MR FUSTIC may be the way to go. Andi Brown's inmate struck by half a length at Southwell on his latest outing and a similar display might see him record a double.

The suggestion is MY BOY HARRY (nap), who will find this easier than his latest assignment and has quickly slipped back to a good mark.

There are factors that make ANGEL SENSE, Duidin and Kalahari Flame particularly interesting types among the newcomers.

KOPEK DES BORDES looked like an unlucky loser at Cheltenham last month and should prove hard to beat. The No Risk At All gelding swooped through to lead in the Arkle, but pecked at the final fence and couldn't pick up again as stablemate Kargese rallied to land the spoils. That was only his second chase start and he's entitled to improve. Irish Panther ran a fine race in the Champion Chase and may have been closer but for a bad mistake at the last. He's the danger. Salvator Mundi didn't jump with any great fluency in Aintree, but is talented and another to consider.

Havana Touch returned to winning ways over a mile at Kempton at the start of the month and has an obvious chance of following up, but it may pay to side with BLUE COLLAR LAD. Daniel Steele's multiple Lingfield winner outran his odds of 40/1 when filling the runner-up spot over C&D latest and looks well placed to go one better. Of the remainder, Portman Blue makes the most appeal.

Course scorer BLUE COLLAR LAD signalled he is ready to go in again when returning with a very good C&D second, so he edges the vote.

Hello Humphrey finished a close third over C&D in December, but he lacks a recent run and SLACK BOB makes more appeal. Picked off late when runner-up over a mile at Yarmouth recently, Ed Dunlop's charge looks set to launch another strong challenge back over this shorter trip. Roccobear had excuses last time and is not without hope, while the returning Personal Pride is worth a second look on his handicap bow.

Hat-trick seeking WILD THOUGHTS has proved a different model since being gelded and is very hard to oppose under a double penalty here.

A case can be made for several of these, but LANGSTONE has the advantage of a recent outing under his belt. Clive Cox's grey overcame greenness to get his head in front at Doncaster last month and another bold bid looks assured. Tales Of Wisdom won easily at Southwell on last year's debut, while Ray Mon Dough also scored with plenty in hand when successful over 6f at Lingfield in November. Newcastle winner Golden Conqueror is not out of it either.

This race features an interesting clash between four winners, most notably RAY MON DOUGH and Tales Of Wisdom.

Pure Moon failed to justify favouritism when hitting the woodwork over a furlong further here at the start of the month, but a slight concern is he hung at various stages in that contest. With that in mind, it might be best to side with TOO FARHH GONE. Warren Greatex's filly finished a respectable third at Wolverhampton in November and could improve for this step up in trip. Al Za'ama completes the shortlist.

The vote goes to PURE MOON who had some steering issues here three weeks ago but he rallied well and nearly pulled it out of the fire.

QUIRYN ran really well at Cheltenham, considering how keenly he raced, and looks the one to beat here. He was in Paul Townend's hands the whole way last month but was bang there a furlong from home before fading a touch late on to finish sixth. It was a big effort and he remains a very exciting prospect. Adaboy Mushy looked like a nice sort when scoring on his debut at Leopardstown. Barry Stone takes a useful 7lb off his back and he could play a big part. Soul Asylum is another for the shortlist.

Considering how well he ran when racing keenly at Cheltenham QUIRYN should be good enough in this company

Nicely bred ROYAL FANFARE is a particularly interesting type among the debutantes. Premier Cru may show improvement.

Station X placed yet again when third at Newcastle, having finished in front of Roberto Caro (fifth) when runner-up at this venue before that. The latter finished a close fourth at Ripon most recently, but STANLEY SPENCER is taken to edge a tight sprint. A dual winner here in the past, James Tate's charge is only 2lb higher than when last successful and his recent second over C&D suggests a return to winning ways is imminent.

Several have possibilities but the vote goes to the in-form 5yo ROBERTO CARO who remains well handicapped off his last winning mark.

SPACE BEAR has a 6lb penalty to contend with for last week's Yarmouth success, but connections have found her another very winnable opening and the manner of that smooth victory suggests she's up to the task. Tenzi is the obvious danger following her breakthrough triumph in novice company at Southwell, while Leonie is another to consider on her handicap debut.

It's hard to side against SPACE BEAR who proved more tractable when a stylish scorer at Yarmouth and can defy a penalty.

Initial Blue is likely to prove competitive back on the all-weather, while Eldeyaar popped up at a big price at Thirsk in a first-time visor and the headgear remains in place. STYLE KING posted a better effort when runner-up at Wolverhampton last time. That form looks stronger in hindsight, given the winner has subsequently gone in again, and Chris Dwyer's son of Dandy Man could prove the one to side with.

A competitive race despite the numbers. SPIRIT OF JENNY dips into her first Class 6 and can prove too strong for What What What.

Marra Donna has been in the mix in all four starts so far this year and just failed to pick off the winner over 5f at Lingfield last month. However, TAAKLAM returned to the fray with a close third at Newcastle on his first start for Harriet Bethell. The son of Mehmas looks on a workable mark and, with a first-time hood promising to bring further improvement, he gets the nod. The Tunguska Event could prove the pick of the remainder.

Plenty to consider, not least Marra Donna and Taaklam. However, the suggestion is the steadily improving THE TUNGUSKA EVENT.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
