1st (1) (4/11 +60%)Hickory Lad |
4/11(+60%) | (1) Hickory Lad 4/11, Game effort runner-up beaten 1 1/2l in a maiden at Thirsk only start; sprint-bred, effective 5f, acts on good; likeable attitude and should improve. Sets a good standard on his promising debut second at Thirsk 19 days ago. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 -100%)Kodi Bear Light |
5/2(-100%) | (3) Kodi Bear Light 5/2, 17 Apr; 28,000 euros Kodi Bear filly; half-sister to Lafan, very useful at 8f; dam moderate at 7f at 2yo; top trainer who gets plenty of first time out 2yo winners; likely type. Newcomer from a powerful yard and the obvious danger to Hickory Lad. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (25/1 -14%)Stay On Tab |
25/1(-14%) | (2) Stay On Tab 25/1, Modest effort well beaten in a maiden here only start; sire sprinter, dam stayed a mile; should improve but needs to. Too keen when well-held sixth on C&D debut. |

Kodi Bear Light changed hands for 28,000 euros as a yearling and is closely related to Sergeant Pep, who was a winner as a juvenile. A market check is advised, but experience is on the side of HICKORY LAD and that might make all the difference. Phillip Makin's colt only found one too good on his introduction at Thirsk and could go one better. Stay On Tab can beat State of Gold home for third.

The vote goes to HICKORY LAD but the Karl Burke newcomer Kodi Bear Light could be a danger if the betting speaks in her favour.

1st (1) (10/11 +17%)Innichen |
10/11(+17%) | (1) Innichen 10/11, Finished well when second beaten 4 1/4l in a novice at Newmarket latest; trainer in form; effective at 5f, acts on good; couple of good efforts and good chance in this. Excuses on debut and stepped up when second last time; can put experience to good use. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (18/1 -29%)Spectacular Diver |
18/1(-29%) | (3) Spectacular Diver 18/1, Yard won this last year; 15 Apr; £10,000 Dandy Man colt; brother to Different Opinions, useful at 7f; dam smart at 6f; top course trainer but likely up against it on debut. April foal by Dandy Man; £10,000 yearling; speedy pedigree for last year's winning yard. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (1/1 +9%)Or Another |
1/1(+9%) | (2) Or Another 1/1, 19 Jan; 180,000gns Dark Angel colt; dam unraced half-sister to Group 2 winner Tactical; top trainer and this one could easily be good enough on debut. January foal by Dark Angel; 180,000gns yearling; family of 2yo winners; respected on debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 -106%)Black Cuillin |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Black Cuillin 33/1, 16 Apr; Far Above filly; half-sister to Marquessofanglesey, useful at 7f; dam very useful at 7f; interesting to see what the market makes of her on debut. April foal by Far Above; dam 7f/1m winner; family of Irish Leger winner; market can guide. |

Innichen was no match for an easy winner at Newmarket recently and although expected to mount a serious challenge, OR ANOTHER is preferred. The 180,000gns purchase makes considerable appeal on paper and is out of a half-sister to a Group 2-winning juvenile in Tactical. Tim Easterby won this 12 months ago but while not dismissed completely, Spectacular Diver might have his work cut out.

Or Another looks by far the most likely of the three newcomers but this can go to INNICHEN, who has shaped nicely in two starts.

1st (2) (3/1 -9%)Fille Unique |
3/1(-9%) | (2) Fille Unique 3/1, Ran to form beaten 1/4l off a 2lb higher mark at Newcastle last time; top course jockey; effective 5f, suited by sound surface; generally consistent in short career. Close third of 11 at Newcastle last week suggests she could win a race like this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 -11%)Data Fata Secutus |
5/1(-11%) | (5) Data Fata Secutus 5/1, Ran to form beaten 3/4l off this mark at Newcastle last time; suited by 5f, acts on AW; drop in weights needed. Some promise when close fifth of 11 on last week's Newcastle return; in the mix again. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/4 +31%)Riffa Spirit |
11/4(+31%) | (1) Riffa Spirit 11/4, Bit too free in front down in trip and caught late, ran to form beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Southwell last time; effective 5-6f on AW, plenty of speed; more to come in handicaps. Raced on AW, winning novice at two; fair fourth in handicap on return for new yard; claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (3/1 +10%)Pivotal Terms |
3/1(+10%) | (6) Pivotal Terms 3/1, Back to form down in class appreciating stiff test at the trip landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; effective 6-7f, acts on good and AW; should remain competitive off revised mark. Won over 6f latest but fact she got on top late doesn't suggest she's crying out for 5f. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (16/1 +11%)Moretons |
16/1(+11%) | (3) Moretons 16/1, Bit too free beaten 4l off this mark at Catterick last time; may need 6f now, may acts on good to soft, good and AW; out of form since a break. 0-11 and not showing enough to suggest that a first win is imminent. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/1 +8%)Realistic Dream |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Realistic Dream 11/1, No obvious excuse down the field in a handicap at Dundalk most recent; off a short-break; effective 5-7f, acts on good to yielding; looks badly handicapped based on maiden form. Well held in two Dundalk handicaps this winter but needs betting check for new yard. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (12/1 -118%)Gillali Lass |
12/1(-118%) | (7) Gillali Lass 12/1, Bit free but ran to form beaten 2 1/4l off a 2lb higher mark here last time; returning from long layoff; effective 5f, acts on good to soft, good to firm; consistent in nurseries last summer, threat if fit. Placed in all three nurseries last summer but off since C&D third in July.. |

Pivotal Terms got off the mark over 6f at Newcastle and should mount a bold bid to follow up, but the one who appeals most is RIFFA SPIRIT. Declan Carroll's charge outran odds of 40/1 when finishing a creditable fourth at Southwell and has kindly been dropped 1lb. As long as he transfers that form to turf, he will prove hard to beat. Data Fata Secutus is another to note.

The way in which RIFFA SPIRIT travelled in the lead in a 0-80 on his return suggests he could be a class act now in a lower grade.

1st (3) (4/5 +60%)Infraad |
4/5(+60%) | (3) Infraad 4/5, Ran to form up in trip when 3 1/2l third in a novice at Nottingham most recent run; effective 8-10f on soft and good; leading chance here. Two promising placed efforts 166 days apart; can do better still; leading form claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/1 -100%)Asia Force |
7/1(-100%) | (2) Asia Force 7/1, Ran about to debut form when second beaten 8 1/2l in a novice at Southwell latest; off a short-break;effective 10/11f on AW; big, staying type, more to come now on turf. Promise in two AW runs this winter (1m2f-1m3f); open to improvement but probably needs it. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (16/1 -129%)Sea Lantern |
16/1(-129%) | (1) Sea Lantern 16/1, Built on decent debut run faced with softer ground when winning a maiden at Roscommon by 2l last time; top course jockey; effective 12f on soft and good; ex-Irish and retains plenty of potential for new yard. 1m4f soft-ground win in Ireland when last seen; sold 75,000gns since; tough task today. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/4 +50%)Leighton |
9/4(+50%) | (4) Leighton 9/4, Green throughout after slow start when well beaten in a maiden at Kempton only start; yard in form; bred for 10f+; improvement likely. Top-class pedigree; should leave his 2yo effort (1m) well behind him over middle distances. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (22/1 -120%)Why Not Win |
22/1(-120%) | (6) Why Not Win 22/1, Ghaiyyath colt; half-brother to Akeed Mofeed, smart at 8f; from a good yard and this one is afforded respect on debut. Well-bred newcomer, closely related to two Group-race winners; good standard to aim at. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (33/1 -725%)Night Wolf |
33/1(-725%) | (5) Night Wolf 33/1, Below form, short in the market when 3 1/2l third in a novice at Redcar most recent run; effective 7f, acts on good to soft and good to firm; big colt, big step up in trip to suit this season. Promising debut at York (7f, good to firm) before a lesser run on good to soft; unexposed. |

Although his Derby entry now appears optimistic, INFRAAD should fare much better than he did on his Nottingham return. The William Haggas team appears to be hitting form and their Ghaiyyath colt is likely to take all the beating if coming on from that recent spin. Leighton and Asia Force merit respect but, despite being the sole winner in the line-up, Sea Lantern has a tough task conceding weight.

Infraad remains capable of better but the well-bred LEIGHTON can leave his 2yo debut behind him now stepped up in distance.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 -21%)Betelgeuse |
10/3(-21%) | (3) Betelgeuse 10/3, Bit keen but ran to form, good attitude beaten 3/4l off a 2lb lower mark here last time; effective 12-14f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; remains progressive, good chance. Fine second a fortnight ago (pair clear; PB); major player if putting best foot forward. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/4 +36%)Volcanic Rock |
7/4(+36%) | (1) Volcanic Rock 7/4, Well below British level in a maiden at Meydan latest; tongue-tie first time; significant jockey booking; off a short-break; effective 11f on AW; not at best in Dubai last twice, respected back in Britain. Enough to prove on this marked step up in trip sporting a tongue-tie for the first time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -100%)Dollar's Dream |
12/1(-100%) | (5) Dollar's Dream 12/1, Bit below best beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; in good form prior; off a short-break; effective 12-16f, acts on AW; bounce back needed. Passed over, mainly because he looked awkward under pressure here latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/4 +32%)Westlain |
9/4(+32%) | (4) Westlain 9/4, Ran to form over hurdles at Ludlow latest; off a short-break; effective up to 12f, acts on good to soft and AW; bit to find back on Flat. Won twice over hurdles and is now asked to go further back on the level; interesting. |

It's hard to get away from BETELGEUSE, who finished clear of the third-placed horse when hitting the woodwork on his seasonal return here earlier in the month. From just a 2lb higher mark, he is the one to side with. Volcanic Rock takes a sizeable step up in distance and, with Oisin Murphy booked, he must be taken seriously. Dollar's Dream is next best.

Jack Jones's WESTLAIN could have more to offer over this new trip back on the Flat, having struck twice over hurdles since November.

Could be a big player if ready on his first run since going close at Galway last August. |

125/1(-279%) | (19) Kalanisi Flash 125/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Cheltenham latest where never travelled or handled track; effective 2 1/2m on good; must bounce back. Maiden winner over 2m6f almost two years ago, has run only twice since, up against it. |

Race sponsor JP McManus recouped his money last year when Thanksforthehelp landed this for David Pipe, but the grey has been out of form since and AGUELLID looks the main hope in the green and gold colours this time. The keen-going top-weight has solid form at right-handed tracks and settled somewhat better when scoring at Wincanton in February. He could be on a nice mark for his first handicap. Radiator Springs was second in a big-field contest at Fairyhouse and may be suited by this longer trip, while Sir Allen returned from a long absence to win on the Flat at Navan and has claims on the pick of his hurdles form.

Andy Slattery's excellent run of form may continue with a win for SIR ALLEN who surprised his trainer with a recent Flat win at Navan

11/1(+8%) | (3) Glasses Up 11/1, Never involved down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; effective 9-13f, acts on good to soft and good to firm, best at Ayr; form tailing off. Hit form last spring but has never won first time up in his long career. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 -122%)Falaise Blanc |
20/1(-122%) | (8) Falaise Blanc 20/1, Far too free down in trip down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; cheekpieces first time; effective 10-14f, acts on soft, good and AW; in good form in autumn but yet to fire this term. Won off similar mark on AW in 2025 but well held both starts this year; new headgear. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (11/2 -57%)Cougar |
11/2(-57%) | (2) Cougar 11/2, Below form up in class on quicker ground, needed run down the field in a handicap at Thirsk most recent; in good form prior; effective 12f, suited by cut; remains very well handicapped on old Irish form. Won twice in blinkers last autumn; no blinkers when well held on return but back on now. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (11/1 -10%)Lieutenant Lily |
11/1(-10%) | (7) Lieutenant Lily 11/1, Continued in poor form down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recent; effective 10/11f; struggled since going handicapping. Some promise for new yard when sixth at Newcastle but well held at Southwell since. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (11/1 -38%)Sycamore Gap |
11/1(-38%) | (4) Sycamore Gap 11/1, May not have stayed well beaten in a handicap at Southwell latest; effective 11-12f, acts on heavy, good and AW; yet to prove ability remains after lay off. Hasn't shown enough in two AW outings back from an absence to fancy his chances here. |

Gallus Norman has shown little in his five career starts so far, being sent off at big prices for all of them, but he might prove a different proposition now tackling handicap company. Even so, AS FAST AS WIND looks the way to go. Tristan Davidson's mare won off just a 3lb lower mark at Salisbury last August and could make a successful return to the Flat. Cougar completes the shortlist.

The most solid by far here is AS FAST AS WIND (nap), who has been running well over hurdles ahead of this return to the Flat.

5/1(+58%) | (4) Alpine Girl 5/1, Fair effort having got behind when beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time; effective 5/6f, acts on a sound surface; bit below par last two starts but better than bare result last time. Return to turf in her favour and this mark is in range; one to be interested in. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/1 -7%)Call To Action |
8/1(-7%) | (1) Call To Action 8/1, Appreciated step down in class landing a handicap by a neck off a 3lb lower mark at Ripon last time; returning from long layoff; effective 5/6f on a sound surface; better of late in blinkers but might need this. Revived by blinkers last summer, winning cosily at Ripon 296 days ago; revised mark fair. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/2 -40%)Rock Of England |
7/2(-40%) | (7) Rock Of England 7/2, Back to best landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; suited by 5f and a sound surface; more needed back on turf. 5f AW win 16 days ago was a good effort; 4lb higher mark demands extra from him. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/2 +9%)Keldeo |
5/2(+9%) | (2) Keldeo 5/2, Improved back on turf/up in trip landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Catterick last time; wide draw; effective 5/6f, acts on soft, fast ground and AW; can go well again. C&D winner last April; arrives on the back of a 6f Catterick win; widest stall not ideal. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -300%)General Assembly |
14/1(-300%) | (3) General Assembly 14/1, Ran to form beaten 2l off this mark at Chelmsford last time; off a short-break; effective 5/6f on sound surface; in form and can go well again. In good form on AW when last seen; not much wiggle room off current mark though. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (33/1 -83%)Invincible Crown |
33/1(-83%) | (8) Invincible Crown 33/1, Yard won this last year; never in it from off the pace beaten 8l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; returning from a break; effective at 5f, acts on sound surface; might need this. Perhaps better on AW than turf; trainer also runs Jojo Rabbit who makes more appeal. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (10/3 +58%)Jojo Rabbit |
10/3(+58%) | (5) Jojo Rabbit 10/3, Yard won this last year; didn't get home up in trip sixth beaten 4 1/2l off 67 last time, 1lb higher here; effective 5/6f, acts on any, goes well in front; needs more off this mark. Made all for C&D win 3 weeks ago; below best on AW (6f) latest; can bounce back quickly. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (20/1 -25%)Toomuchforme |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Toomuchforme 20/1, Again below form when seventh beaten 6l off 67 last time, 1lb lower here; effective 5/6f, acts on good and AW; unreliable and others preferred. 33-1 win at Southwell (5f) last month has been followed by two modest runs; opposable. |

Keldeo got back on track with a half-length success at Catterick and is respected alongside Newcastle victor Rock Of England. General Assembly has been knocking at the door and must enter calculations, but a return to this track and trip could see JOJO RABBIT bounce straight back to form. Ruth Carr's eight-year-old wasn't as good at Wolverhampton last time, but he made all to score over C&D earlier in the month and is drawn to repeat those tactics in stall two.

Alpine Girl is a key player back on turf but JOJO RABBIT (nap) can exploit his low draw and record a second C&D win this month.

15/8(+46%) | (2) Crimson Blaze 15/8, Late headway beaten 2 1/2l in a maiden at Wolverhampton on debut; sprint-bred, fast ground will suit action; should improve. Very green when fifth of eight on debut; likely involved with Oisin Murphy booked. |

8/1(-33%) | (5) Havana Gift 8/1, Knew job but maybe needed run 4 1/4l fourth in a novice at Thirsk first-time out; top course jockey; effective at 5f on good; should improve. No surprise if lasting longer with debut run under her belt. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (15/8 -25%)Bellatina |
15/8(-25%) | (1) Bellatina 15/8, Knew job on debut, fair effort runner-up beaten 3/4l in a novice at Beverley only start; effective at 5f on good to soft; good chance granted normal progress. Obvious claims of going one better than on debut at Beverley a fortnight ago. |

Crimson Blaze showed plenty of promise when fifth on her introduction at Wolverhampton last month and she is likely to take a step forward under Oisin Murphy. 65,000gns yearling Estupenda is respected on debut, but BELLATINA gets the nod. Charlie Johnston's youngster took home the silver medal on her first start at Beverley and could find any amount of progress with that run under her belt.

Another chance can be given to WOPBOPALOOMOP who had her work cut out in trying to justify favouritism from a bad draw last week.

Handicap rating of 116 left unchanged after maiden win at the eighth attempt, needs extra. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

6/1(+45%) | (7) Grey Jude 6/1, Ran to form under positive ride down in trip when second beaten 6 1/2l in an auction hurdle at Leopardstown latest; off a short-break; effective over 2-2 1/4m, acts on yielding and soft; consistent. Closely matched with Raise You Up on Naas run, no match for Vitorio Piel at Leopardstown. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (9/2 -29%)L' Evangeliste |
9/2(-29%) | (1) L' Evangeliste 9/2, Quickened, ran to form suited by positive ride and longer trip when winning a novice hurdle at Fairyhouse by 1 1/2l last time; effective 2-2 1/2m, acts on yielding; progressing, form franked, worth step up in grade. Has given good front-running displays at 2m/2m4f, lack of a recent run is a mild concern. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (20/1 -43%)Dunleer Crystal |
20/1(-43%) | (12) Dunleer Crystal 20/1, All but fell on home bend, fantastic sit but rider lost irons, very unlucky, great ride 4l third in an auction hurdle at Wexford most recent run; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on soft, good; from good yard, should remain competitive. Held by Raise You Up and Grey Jude on Naas running, rider made stunning recovery last time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 -108%)Eagle's Quest |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Eagle's Quest 25/1, Ran to form down the field in a maiden at Gowran Park most recent; effective 2m, acts on heavy; hurdles winner, more to come in both codes and longer trip a plus but likely one for handicaps. Has a slight edge over Ifallgoeswell on Gowran running. two most recent run on the Flat. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (33/1 -32%)All Night Revival |
33/1(-32%) | (11) All Night Revival 33/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 4 1/4l in an auction hurdle at Wexford latest; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on good, heavy; could yet build on debut promise. Held by Eagles Quest on Fairyhouse run, behind three of these rivals at Wexford last time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (150/1 -500%)The First Turn |
150/1(-500%) | (14) The First Turn 150/1, Outpaced, ran to form on hurdle debut well beaten in an auction hurdle at Wexford latest; tongue-tie first time; usually held up; effective 2-2 1/2m, acts on good; debut form franked, needs more over hurdles. Bumper winner on debut, no impression in the Wexford maiden hurdle won by Iflallgoeswell. |

Eric McNamara holds L'EVANGELISTE in high regard and the Pastorius gelding can complete a hat-trick. Sean Flanagan's mount has made all on his last two outings, but connections feel he'll be better with a lead. His record when fresh is reasonably good so a five-month layoff isn't a major concern, particularly with such a good prize up for grabs. Rated 1lb higher than the selection, Vitorio Piel looks a big danger. A bumper winner at this meeting last year, he readily beat Grey Jude at Leopardstown in March and 3m may have been too far last time. Simply Natural has made a promising start over hurdles and is in receipt of weight.

This has been a long-term target for VITORIO PIEL (nap), winner of a bumper at last year's festival. Ground conditions should suit him

Four wins last year (including C&D) but last of 12 on C&D return over Easter. |

12/1(+0%) | (2) Sugar Hill Babe 12/1, Struggled again, regressing beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at Southwell last time; enjoys making it; suited by 5f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; can bounce back ridden more conservatively. 7/4(+42%) | (4) Al Hussar 7/4, Bit too free but ran to form beaten 2 1/4l off this mark here last time; trainer in form; effective at 5f, acts on any, best with cut; competitively weighted though softer ground ideal. Two solid efforts over C&D this month and likely to go well for in-form Grant Tuer.. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 -54%)Curious Rover |
10/1(-54%) | (3) Curious Rover 10/1, Did plenty early, bit below form beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap here last time; wide draw; suited by 5f, acts on any; mark easing but needs more. Behind Al Hussar on C&D return but entitled to strip fitter now. |

15/2(+12%) | (6) Water Of Leith 15/2, Scored by 3l off a 4lb lower mark at Wolverhampton three starts back; ran to form sixth beaten 6l off 68 last time, 1lb lower here; top course trainer; effective 5/6f, probably acts on any; respected off this mark. Prolific winner, most recently on AW last month; latest C&D sixth was below par, though. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 -125%)Rosenpur |
9/2(-125%) | (1) Rosenpur 9/2, Returned to form suited by positive ride at sharp track beaten a head off this mark at Catterick last time; top course jockey; enjoys making it; effective 5f on sound surface, gets sharp 6f; consistent but handicapper not relenting. Had excellent 2025 and near miss on last week's return suggests 2026 can be productive too. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (4/1 +43%)Knicks |
4/1(+43%) | (8) Knicks 4/1, Ran to form beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Thirsk last time; effective 5/6f, acts on good, but likes give, poor only AW start; competitive mark still. On losing run but reappearance encouraging and won the last time he wore cheekpieces. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (40/1 -100%)Jm Jhingree |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Jm Jhingree 40/1, Outpaced, never threatened, needed run down the field in a handicap here most recent; in good form prior; enjoys making it; effective 5/6f, acts on any but suited by cut; C&D winner can go well from this mark. C&D winner for Jim Goldie but always behind on C&D yard debut 17 days ago. |

In what looks a tricky puzzle to solve, a chance can be taken on CURIOUS ROVER. Katie Scott's C&D winner wasn't unfancied over track and trip on his seasonal reappearance and although coming up short, he will appreciate a return to better ground and could cash in on a handy mark. Last week's Catterick second Rosenpur is likely to prove popular, and so is the consistent Al Hussar.

Grant Tuer has his team in good nick and AL HUSSAR looks solid on the back of two good efforts in bigger-field races here this month.

C&D record of 311; encouraging reappearance at Ripon; untried on ground faster than good. |

2nd (9) (66/1 -200%)Garden Oasis |
66/1(-200%) | (9) Garden Oasis 66/1, Yard won this last year; below form, needed run well beaten in a handicap at Ripon latest; top course trainer; enjoys making it; suited by 8f, acts on any, suited by fast ground; has slipped 5lb below last win mark, should come on for latest. Conditions won't faze him and on a dangerous mark; needs to leave recent return behind him. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (12/1 +14%)Vincent Rocks |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Vincent Rocks 12/1, Found little, maybe needed run on return down the field in a handicap at Doncaster most recent; cheekpieces first time; effective 8f, acts on good to soft and AW; open to improvement with him expected to leave reappearance behind. 2-2 in novice company but both handicap runs have resulted in heavy defeats; headgear now. |

3/1(+14%) | (6) Sailthisshipalone 3/1, Improved tried in new headgear combo on return landing a handicap by a head off a 3lb lower mark here last time; effective 7/8f, acts on any; new mark looks reasonable and likes the C&D. C&D win on stable debut this month; up 3lb in a higher grade and with cheekpieces absent. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (4/1 +56%)Leadenhall |
4/1(+56%) | (8) Leadenhall 4/1, Won this last year; struggled again when down the field in a handicap at Redcar most recent; top course trainer; effective 8f, acts on any; might need this. Won this race after a break last year; on a good mark and more appealing than many. |

6th (4) (10/1 -33%)Sir Paul Ramsey |
10/1(-33%) | (4) Sir Paul Ramsey 10/1, Below form back on turf when down the field in a handicap at Musselburgh most recent; significant jockey booking; wide draw; suited by 8f, acts on sound surface; bounce back needed. Dangerous on best form but has to rebound from a lacklustre run at Musselburgh 17 days ago. |

7th (5) (6/1 -80%)On The River |
6/1(-80%) | (5) On The River 6/1, Did well considering a slow start, ran right up to best beaten a head off a 2lb lower mark at Ripon last time; trainer in form; effective 7/8f, acts on heavy and good; new mark asks more but in fine form. Two solid runs this year and fully effective over C&D; drying ground the concern this time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (14/1 -155%)Billyb |
14/1(-155%) | (1) Billyb 14/1, Back to winning ways, step down in trip suited in this landing a handicap by a head off a 2lb lower mark at Southwell last time; effective 7-10f, acts on sound surface; can go well back on turf. As good as ever last year, winning twice, but returns from an absence minus cheekpieces. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 -127%)Cosmos Raj |
50/1(-127%) | (7) Cosmos Raj 50/1, Never dangerous down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recent; effective 8-10f, acts on any; out of form. Three wins last summer at around 1m; on last winning mark but has 208-day absence to defy. |

With no fewer than five of the nine competitors boasting previous C&D-winning form, it is fair to say that this looks an open contest. Leadenhall returns to action in defence of his crown, while Sailthisshipalone arrives on the back of a track-and-trip success. Garden Oasis probably needs a bit more but that can't be said for ON THE RIVER, who had Walsingham a couple of lengths in arrears when finishing a narrow second at Ripon. From 2lb higher, it is Harriet Bethell's gelding who earns the vote.

Recent C&D winner Sailthisshipalone and last year's winner LEADENHALL appeal most. The selection can go in again off a fair mark.

7th (6) (14/1 +13%)Singarda |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Singarda 14/1, Best work late after a wind op beaten 7l in a handicap at Ripon last time; second run after wind op; effective 7/8f, acts on good and AW; bit to come in handicaps now upped in trip. Fair fifth on return but new trip raises a question. |

Wave Power failed to win across three starts in maiden/novice company last year, but he has been gelded over the winter and an opening mark of 66 might not be out of reach. Flash Kozo is another handicap debutant to watch out for, but MAGICIAN OF RIGA was a cosy winner over 1m4f at Wolverhampton last time and looks well placed to go in again.

This looks an excellent opportunity for MAGICIAN OF RIGA (nap) to follow up. He beat the 'right' horse with a bit to spare 23 days ago.

9/2(+50%) | (10) Quinta Do Lago 9/2, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; ran to form just flattening out late up the hill in first time cheekpieces beaten 8 1/4l in McCoy Contractors Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham last time; effective 2m, acts on any; in form but stamina to prove. Fred Winter fifth tries a new trip here and a contender if staying. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4/1 +20%)Begorra Man |
4/1(+20%) | (6) Begorra Man 4/1, Improved for debut experience when second beaten 3l in a maiden hurdle at Navan latest; effective 2m, acts on soft, heavy; latest maiden form looks strong, more to come hurdling. Recent Navan maiden second a potential improver upped in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (150/1 -355%)Tinto De Verano |
150/1(-355%) | (8) Tinto De Verano 150/1, Modest debut 52l third in a maiden hurdle at Wexford most recent run; effective 2 1/2m; plenty to find. Beaten a long way on recent hurdles debut at Wexford and looks a forlorn hope here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 -13%)Riskaway |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Riskaway 9/2, Outpaced, well held at top level again down the field in Turners Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) at Cheltenham most recent; effective at 2m4f, acts on sound surface, has run well on heavy; promising sort from top yard but may need fences to show best. Turner's also-ran but definite claims here down in grade. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (22/1 +12%)Milan Forth |
22/1(+12%) | (7) Milan Forth 22/1, Challenged too early down in trip and tired late well beaten in a handicap chase at Gowran Park latest; off a short-break; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good; fair mark on hunter form. Fairly useful handicap chaser but tough ask on belated hurdles debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (3/1 +14%)Bunting |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Bunting 3/1, Yard won this last year; too much to do in race dominated from front ridden to see out the trip down the field in BetMGM Cup Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham most recent; effective 2-2 1/2m, acts on good to soft; inconsistent, no hurdles win since debut but big player at this level. Contesting hot handicaps of late; major claims down in grade here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (16/1 -60%)Minella Boss |
16/1(-60%) | (9) Minella Boss 16/1, Run of race, good attitude to get off the mark tried in tongue-tie when winning a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park by 1/2l last time; effective around 2m, suited by testing ground; looks strong stayer at 2m, more to come but needed at this level. Front-running Gowran maiden winner is upped in trip and good bit more likely needed. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (11/2 +45%)Mister Pessimistic |
11/2(+45%) | (3) Mister Pessimistic 11/2, Ran to form but outclassed down the field in Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) at Leopardstown most recent; effective 2m; debut form franked, bumper and point winner should have more to offer now dropped in grade, may get further. Out of depth in Grade 1 novices' of late; drops in class here and upped in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/1 -200%)Soir De Garde |
9/1(-200%) | (5) Soir De Garde 9/1, Yard won this last year; fell in the Conditions Hurdle at Cork latest when beaten, this much easier; effective at 2m on soft and yielding; looks very useful, should come on for latest. Cork run promising; 8yo remains unexposed and could go well if staying this longer trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (80/1 -220%)Le Grand Peinture |
80/1(-220%) | (2) Le Grand Peinture 80/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Naas latest; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on soft; still early days, should come on for latest. Better for comeback run but fair bit to find on ratings here. |

Paul Townend rides Soir De Garde and the refitting of a hood should help his chance, but preference is for the other Willie Mullins-trained runner BUNTING. Third in last year's Cesarewitch, he ran well in a Leopardstown handicap hurdle at Christmas and his latest performance in the BetMGM Cup wasn't without merit either. He drops in class and decent ground will suit. Riskaway has been outclassed in Grade 1 company on his last two starts but the form of his maiden win at Thurles in November is strong, while Quinta Do Lago was a creditable fifth in the Fred Winter and may improve for this longer trip.

The still-unexposed 8yo SOIR DE GARDE could be the one to beat if staying this longer trip

12/1(+25%) | (9) Carolus Magnus 12/1, Below form in first time blinkers down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; returning from a break; effective 7/8f, act on any except heavy; C&D winner but poor strike rate. Did well over C&D last autumn and claims if ready to roll after 134 days off. |

3rd (5) (7/2 +42%)Mission Command |
7/2(+42%) | (5) Mission Command 7/2, Ran to form beaten 1 1/2l off this mark at Leicester last time; top course jockey; effective 5-8f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; mark has eased, could be running into form. Now 15 runs since last win but arrives on the back of good thirds on turf in recent weeks. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (18/1 -64%)Black Storm |
18/1(-64%) | (6) Black Storm 18/1, Struggled to get involved down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; in good form prior; effective 7/8f, acts on good to soft, good to firm, AW; in good form. Promise for Katie Scott at end of last summer; off seven months (has had wind surgery). |

5th (10) (20/1 -122%)Penny Mountain |
20/1(-122%) | (10) Penny Mountain 20/1, Ran to form beaten 1 1/2l off this mark at Newcastle last time; effective at 6/7f, acts on soft and AW; largely consistent. In good form on AW at Newcastle, placing over 7f last three starts; player back on turf. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (5/1 -43%)Qazaq |
5/1(-43%) | (7) Qazaq 5/1, Bit too much to do at sharp track but returned to form beaten a head off a 1lb lower mark here last time; probably best at 7f, suited by a sound surface; on long losing run but good mark if building on recent revival. Looked unlucky when close second over C&D latest; big player if showing up in similar form. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/1 +0%)Giorgio M |
7/1(+0%) | (2) Giorgio M 7/1, Every chance, below form beaten 3l off a 2lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 6/7f, acts on sound surface; back below last winning mark but bit more needed. 2lb below mark he defied on AW this winter; also former C&D scorer; reasons to be positive. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (6/1 +14%)Criminal Shore |
6/1(+14%) | (3) Criminal Shore 6/1, Ran to form beaten 2 1/2l off this mark at Newcastle last time; effective 7/8f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; generally consistent, mark easing. Drawn a blank since 1m Ripon win last April but several good efforts since. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (12/1 -85%)Counting Cards |
12/1(-85%) | (4) Counting Cards 12/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 4l in a novice at Wolverhampton latest; hood first time; returning from a break; effective 6-8f, acts on good to firm and AW; consistent, could do better if settling. Took keen for own good on AW in the winter but claims if hood helps him to settle better. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (12/1 -33%)Catalyse |
12/1(-33%) | (1) Catalyse 12/1, Needed run beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; top course trainer; off a short-break; effective around 7f, acts on good to soft, good to firm; must bounce back on return from break. Well held when backed on AW yard debut but remains one who could click for this stable. |

Another competitive handicap in which a few will fancy their chances but the vote goes to QAZAQ, who can build on an agonising C&D defeat to regain the winning thread. Penny Mountain and Mission Command both score highly for consistency and are likely to give their running again, although Ed Bethell can do little wrong at present and his representative Counting Cards could be a bigger threat.

Low-drawn front-runners GIORGIO M and Tattie Bogle may be the pair to focus on, with narrow preference for the former.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -200%)The Good Biscuit |
9/2(-200%) | (4) The Good Biscuit 9/2, Did well considering a slow start, pleasing return beaten a length off this mark at Catterick last time; effective 6/7f, acts on soft and fast ground; can go well if building on return. Two course wins last year; promising return at Catterick; firmly in the mix. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/4 +36%)Modern Times |
7/4(+36%) | (5) Modern Times 7/4, Yard won this last year; ran to form even if needing run a little on return when beaten 2l off this mark at Ripon last time; top course trainer; effective 6/7f on good to soft, good to firm and AW; good run likely if building on return. Shaped nicely at Ripon on his return two weeks ago; leading claims if building on it. |

4th (3) (10/1 -25%)Alpha Magic |
10/1(-25%) | (3) Alpha Magic 10/1, Well beaten upped in grade down the field in a handicap at Ayr most recent; returning from long layoff; effective at 6f on good to soft and good to firm; might need this. Disappointing when last seen but he'd looked promising beforehand; best days still to come. |

10/3(+33%) | (2) Sixtygeesbaby 10/3, Step back from fair return when beaten 8 1/2l in a handicap at Ripon last time; top course jockey; effective 6/7f, acts on a sound surface; on a good mark if bouncing back. Not fired on good to soft for new yard; faster ground can help and he is well treated now. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/2 +75%)Mystical Storm |
7/2(+75%) | (6) Mystical Storm 7/2, Below par at end of season on deep ground when down the field in a handicap at Doncaster most recent; effective 6-7f, acts on any on turf; bounce back needed on return. 6f novice win last summer; ended 2025 quietly and others are preferred this time. |

Two-time course winner THE GOOD BISCUIT finished a close third at Catterick and the assessor may have been kind to leave his mark alone for that effort. With Warren Fentiman claiming a handy 3lb, Ruth Carr's five-year-old could prove tough to beat. Watch the market vibes behind Veblen Good, who makes his first appearance for the David O'Meara yard off an appealing mark. Of the remainder, Modern Times makes the most appeal.

A trappy race in which MODERN TIMES is taken to build on his encouraging seasonal return. Veblen Good may be best of the rest.

Three wins this year (two over C&D) and undone by slow pace over C&D last time; a possible. |

9/2(+10%) | (3) Donna Nook 9/2, Ran to form up in trip beaten 4l off a 3lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; off a short-break; effective 8-10f, acts on sound surface; capable off this mark. Her losing run continues but she has another career-low mark and might not be far away. |

2/1(-7%) | (1) Wondrous Light 2/1, Travelled, back to best, strong at finish down in trip landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Beverley last time; effective 9-11f, acts on good to soft and AW; fair mark still. Won on recent reappearance at Beverley; strong claims if return to Tapeta isn't an issue. |

15/2(-200%) | (2) Welljudged 15/2, Late headway down in trip probably wanting a mile 5l third in a maiden at Chelmsford most recent run; off a short-break; effective 7-9f, probably better latter, acts on AW; bigger effort in him yet back in a handicap. Disappointing on sole handicap start but has shown promise otherwise; a case can be made. |

8th (5) (8/1 +60%)Brave Byreflection |
8/1(+60%) | (5) Brave Byreflection 8/1, Never in it from off the pace on return beaten 8l in a handicap at Kempton last time; suited by 7/8f, acts on a sound surface; should come on for return and mark is fair now. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (25/1 -150%)Cosi Bear |
25/1(-150%) | (8) Cosi Bear 25/1, Poor run on handicap debut beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective 7f on AW; needs more. Hasn't shone this year but she's still very lightly raced and her yard is in fine form. |

It's hard to look past WONDROUS LIGHT, who justified favouritism on her reappearance at Beverley and only has a 3lb higher mark to contend with. Provided the daughter of Earthlight is as effective on an artificial surface, she could be a tough nut to crack. Welljudged was sent off favourite for her handicap bow at Wolverhampton two starts ago before subsequently disappointing at Chelmsford. Despite that, she can't be written off just yet. Donna Nook completes the shortlist.

Roger Varian's representative WELLJUDGED could appreciate the step back up in trip and is the selection ahead of Wondrous Light.

18/1(-29%) | (5) Savannah Smiles 18/1, Needed run well beaten in a handicap at Leicester latest; tongue-tie first time; suited by 5f, acts on any; back on last winning mark which came here but form has tailed off. Course winner over 5f in September but struggled in four starts since; tongue-tie applied. |

Course winner SAVANNAH SMILES showed little on her return at Leicester earlier in the month, but she now sports a first-time tongue-tie and has Rossa Ryan in the plate. Grace Harris' mare competes off her last winning mark and is worth taking a chance on. Silver Wraith won over C&D in October and holds an obvious chance, while Thecoffeepoddotco is another to watch out for.

Silver Wraith is respected on her first start since winning over C&D in October but preference is for MOE'S LEGACY.

50/1(-100%) | (6) Generous Risk 50/1, Improved from debut when second beaten 12l in Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) at Fairyhouse latest; effective 2-2 1/2m, acts with cut; progressing. No disgrace in chasing home a top-class novice at Fairyhouse (2m4f) but more needed. |

50/1(+0%) | (7) Hipop De Loire 50/1, Yard won this last three runnings of race; pulled up in Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) at Fairyhouse latest; effective 2m-2m6f, suited by sound surface; inconsistent in both codes, tricky ride. Talented Flat performer but yet to convince over hurdles. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (66/1 +47%)Dream On Mick |
66/1(+47%) | (2) Dream On Mick 66/1, Very promising debut when winning a maiden hurdle at Carlisle by 2l last time; effective 2m3f, acts on good to soft; point winner should have more to offer over staying trips but this a big ask. Carlisle winner the type to relish 3m but this a huge jump in class. |

Seven of these ran in the Albert Bartlett and THE PASSING WIFE is taken to reverse form with Fruit De Mer and can land this Grade 1 for Gavin Cromwell. He was only a head behind Fruit De Mer when the pair were placed last month and is a dual winner at this track. Third in the Royal Bond over 2m earlier in the season, that bit of tactical speed might give him the edge. Fruit De Mer showed much-improved form at Cheltenham and can contend again while Doctor Steinberg, a disappointing favourite on that occasion, is now tried in a hood. Talented mare Zanoosh has been hugely progressive on testing ground and steps further up in trip.

ZANOOSH has never stopped improving and could do so again at this longer trip, the valuable mares' allowance possibly crucial

2/1(+83%) | (1) Spirit Catcher 2/1, Forced wide from poor draw, found little down the field in a handicap at Nottingham most recent; effective 8f, acts on any; not quite the force of old after layoff. Out of sorts since returning from an absence; major revival needed. |

2nd (9) (16/1 -78%)On The Bubble |
16/1(-78%) | (9) On The Bubble 16/1, Ran to current level beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; effective 8/9f, acts on G, handles cut; consistent at low level when getting fractions right. Some fair efforts here in 2025 but 1-27 on Flat overall; off 190 days; others stronger. |

3rd (6) (7/4 +30%)Alpine Sierra |
7/4(+30%) | (6) Alpine Sierra 7/4, Given too much to do and just failed when second beaten a head in a classified race at Wolverhampton latest; effective 7-10f, acts on soft, good and AW, Newcastle regular; well treated back in a handicap, can go well again. Has gone close on AW on last three starts; obvious claims back on turf. |

50/1(-127%) | (7) Come On John 50/1, Too slow away down the field in a handicap at Wolverhampton most recent; effective 10-12f, suited by AW; below par last few outings, must bounce back. Badly out of sorts when last seen in the autumn. |

4/1(+60%) | (3) Drumcondra 4/1, Never threatened beaten 9l in a handicap at Beverley last time; effective 8f, acts on sound surface; maiden needs more. Twice second here last year but needs to shrug off a lesser run at Beverley six days ago. |

6th (5) (10/1 -233%)Esque Elegance |
10/1(-233%) | (5) Esque Elegance 10/1, Returned to form back in a handicap belatedly shedding maiden tag landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Newcastle last time; effective 7/8f, acts on AW; erratic and not one to rely on backing up latest. Made it 21st time lucky on AW last week; claims under a penalty if in similar form. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (33/1 -18%)Miss Raincloud |
33/1(-18%) | (8) Miss Raincloud 33/1, Never in the race up in trip down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; cheekpieces first time; off a short-break; effective at 7/8f, acts on AW; bit to prove after a few below par efforts. Placed on AW last autumn but lost her way completely since; cheekpieces reached for. |

Esque Elegance finally got off the mark at Newcastle last week and it won't be a surprise if she kicks on with her confidence boosted. Her turf form is nothing to write home about, though, so preference is for ALPINE SIERRA, who has been pipped in head-bobbing finishes at Newcastle and Wolverhampton and has a better record on this surface. A slipped saddle meant that Staffordshire didn't get a proper chance to supplement his Newcastle victory at the same circuit and he can't be written off yet.

Although ALPINE SIERRA has gone a while without a win, his recent AW exploits suggest he can put that right soon.

2nd (3) (2/1 +67%)Finlaggan |
2/1(+67%) | (3) Finlaggan 2/1, Never in it from off the pace well beaten in a maiden at Catterick latest; top course jockey; surely capable of better now handicapping up in trip for good yard. Uncompetitive in two maidens for this yard; market check essential for handicap debut. |

10/3(-90%) | (1) Bearwith 10/3, Good attitude, ran to form when second beaten a length off 67 last time, 3lb higher here; suited by 10-12f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; good chance if building on latest. Fine effort from wide stall when second (1m2f, good) last time; has form here; big player. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 -56%)Heartened |
14/1(-56%) | (6) Heartened 14/1, Never in it from off the pace when comfortably held in a handicap at Southwell last time; effective 10f on sound surface; bounce back needed. Trip an excuse last time but she's out of the handicap and has work to do. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (16/1 -45%)Dubawi Time |
16/1(-45%) | (5) Dubawi Time 16/1, Never involved beaten 8l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; effective 10-12f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; inconsistent this term but has dropped to appealing mark. 0-8 last year but starts out for new yard from career-low mark; worthy of a market check. |

FINLAGGAN hasn't shown a great deal in either start for his new connections, most recently finishing a well-beaten eighth at Catterick. However, he takes a step up in trip on his handicap bow and could prove a different proposition. Lightening Company justified favouritism over 1m4f at this venue and is likely to be on the premises again. Bearwith is the pick of the remainder.

Finlaggan needs monitoring in the market but this will likely be fought out by Lightening Company and BEARWITH.

10/1(+29%) | (4) Shaws Phoenix 10/1, Below form, too keen early on well beaten in a handicap at Yarmouth latest; effective 7-8f, acts on any; needs to settle to run to form. 0-15; likely best watched back from break and wind surgery for another new yard. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (20/1 +0%)Mavetheforcebewivu |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Mavetheforcebewivu 20/1, Never in it from off the pace beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap here last time; usually held up; effective 7/8f on sound surface; needs more. Should be all the better for her recent return to action but others are preferred. |

Kondratiev Wave dead-heated for top honours at Lingfield on his penultimate start and a similar level of performance would see him go close, but it might pay to side with THE SPOTLIGHT KID. Dean Ivory's gelding finished a creditable third at Kempton last month and the handicapper has given him every chance with a 1lb ease in the ratings. Borderline Madness and Ring Of Gold are others to consider.

William Stone's BORDERLINE MADNESS can leave her Yarmouth return behind and a 1lb drop allows her back into 0-55 company.

Ricky Punting is of most interest out of the newcomers because he is bred for speed and goes for a yard that knows how to ready one. Lady Blanche could build on her debut third at Beverley to have a say, but the vote goes to DOWMAN. The son of Sioux Nation showed lots of promise when filling the runner-up spot over 5f here, shaping as if this extra yardage would bring about improvement.

Dowman ran well here over 5f on his debut but LADY BLANCHE showed plenty at Beverley on her debut and looks the one to beat.

Impressed on debut, better ground found him out at Cheltenham, rejected by Patrick Mullins. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (14/1 -27%)Low Kick |
14/1(-27%) | (5) Low Kick 14/1, Did it easily and improved for testing ground when winning a bumper at Naas by 10l last time; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on good but suited by plenty of cut; remain competitive up in class. Stepped up from debut behind The Irish Avatar with 10l Naas win; seems ground-versatile. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (66/1 +34%)Of Land And Sea |
66/1(+34%) | (6) Of Land And Sea 66/1, Jockey lost irons as saddle slipped, eased down the field in Champion Bumper (Grade 1) at Cheltenham most recent; in good form prior; hood first time; effective 2m, acts on heavy and good; progressive until latest. Enterprisingly ridden very wide to win at Limerick, saddle slipped at Cheltenham. |

THE MOURNE RAMBLER can continue the good record of Champion Bumper winners competing in this race, and can confirm his superiority over six reopposing rivals. Bought for 45,000 euros as a store, the Noel Meade-trained five-year-old won a smart Leopardstown bumper back in December and, at the Cheltenham Festival last month, he scored impressively. That form traditionally works out well here, with three of the last four winners having followed up. Boycetown finished fourth at Cheltenham but has a bit to find, while Love Sign D'aunou disappointed then but had previously shown stronger form at Naas.

There is no strong reason to believe that THE MOURNE RAMBLER will fail to uphold Cheltenham form with six of these rivals

40/1(-100%) | (10) Bernie The Bear 40/1, Every chance, below form beaten 6l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; effective 6/7f, acts on good and AW; out of form. All wins came on AW in 2023 and recent efforts don't suggest he'll snap losing run now. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (16/1 +20%)Invincible Melody |
16/1(+20%) | (2) Invincible Melody 16/1, Continued in poor form down the field in a handicap at Thirsk most recent; effective 6/7f, acts on soft and AW; maiden needs to bounce back. Well held at Thirsk this month on first run for Ewan Whillans, taking record to 0-23. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (25/1 -39%)Gimmieminnie |
25/1(-39%) | (11) Gimmieminnie 25/1, Poor run back in a handicap beaten 8l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; cheekpieces first time; effective 5/6f, acts on yielding and AW; exposed maiden isn't one to rely on. Fair start for new yard when fourth at Wolverhampton but well behind The Gay Blade since. |

THE GAY BLADE has been in fine form at Newcastle, tasting success on three of his last four appearances, and last week's triumph came in an apprentices' race so he escapes a penalty. Iain Jardine's C&D winner can take full advantage, possibly at the chief expense of stable companion Classy Clarets, who has also been in good heart on the all-weather but doesn't have anything like as good a turf record. Filey Beach is worth a look now he has a recent run under his belt.

The draw could have been kinder to War Memorial and THE GAY BLADE but they have leading form claims, with the latter preferred.

6/1(-9%) | (3) How's The Guvnor 6/1, Found little, below form well beaten in a handicap at Southwell latest; in good form prior; off a short-break; effective 6-8f, acts on AW; bounce back needed. Won twice (AW) in January; may have been freshened up by a break; not discounted. |

POWERFUL RESPONSE finished a close-up third in this grade at Nottingham on his most recent outing and the first-time visor might eke out the improvement required to regain the winning thread. We've Got This competes off a workable rating on her return to the fray and has to be respected along with Star Start, who takes a drop in trip with James Sullivan back on board.

The vote goes to Ruth Carr's STAR START, who has been building up to a big effort which can come on this third start off a break.

40/1(+20%) | (4) Our Misty Blue 40/1, Below form back on turf tried in cheekpieces down the field in a handicap at Nottingham most recent; blinkers first time; effective at 7f on AW; needs more off reduced mark and stamina still to prove. 9th (5) (4/1 +47%)Spirit Of Bowland |
4/1(+47%) | (5) Spirit Of Bowland 4/1, Won this last year; strong to finish back up in trip when winning a classified race here by 1/2l last time; effective 7-9f, best on AW; needs more back in a handicap. Should go well, for all that he might be vulnerable to younger legs. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (66/1 -32%)Wath Court |
66/1(-32%) | (11) Wath Court 66/1, Again ran to a poor level down the field in a handicap at Catterick most recent; seems to stay 12f and act on AW; form is largely very poor. Placed once in 29 starts; no improvement for recent change of yard; best to look elsewhere. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (50/1 -150%)Unknown Journey |
50/1(-150%) | (8) Unknown Journey 50/1, Again below from despite being tried in hood beaten 10l in a handicap at Kempton last time; effective 8-10f, acts on good to firm and AW; bounce back needed. Frustrating type and the fitting of a hood (retained here) saw no upturn at Kempton latest. |

TIMELY AFFAIR has found one too good on each of his last two outings, most recently over 7f at this venue, and he now sports first-time cheekpieces. The booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye and should that headgear work the oracle, he can record a second C&D success. Haaf A Diamond faded into third over the extended mile at Nottingham recently but is likely to be thereabouts, and Ribston Pippin is another to watch out for.

Much the safest option is TIMELY AFFAIR. Oisin Murphy riding and headgear going on can see him get back to winning ways.

Posted three solid efforts since returning from an 85-day break; good claims back on turf. |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (4/1 -14%)Connie's Rose |
4/1(-14%) | (5) Connie's Rose 4/1, Did plenty early and set it up for closer, needed run beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap here last time; enjoys making it; effective 6f, acts on soft, good to firm; back on last winning mark, could build on return. Ten wins have included two over this C&D; possibly needed the run last time; interesting. |

BINADHAM has produced solid efforts at Wolverhampton the last twice, finishing third on both occasions, and he competes off an unchanged mark. The son of Kodiac looks to have been found a good opening to record his second career success. Law Of Average has dropped to an appealing figure and might give it a good go from the front, while Cayman Tai may also have a say.

Dual C&D winner CONNIE'S ROSE is taken to step forward from her recent reappearance and Binadham can again go well.

20/1(-67%) | (2) Jesse Evans 20/1, Ran to form when second beaten 5l in Horse & Jockey Hotel Hurdle (Grade 3) at Tipperary latest; effective 2-2 1/2m, doesn't get further; consistent Graded performer who looks on a fair mark in optimum conditions but has absence to overcome. Absent since October so may need this although ground in his favour. |

7/4(+50%) | (5) King Alexander 7/4, Yard won this last year; when fourth beaten 13l in Jack Richards Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (Grade 2) at Cheltenham latest; that form franked at top level; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on any; more to come over fences for top yard in handicaps. Cheltenham handicap debut fourth augurs well; ground fine. |

14/1(+30%) | (12) Dreal Deal 14/1, Returned to form down in class back on better ground 5 1/2l third in a handicap chase at Haydock most recent run; usually held up; effective 2m-2m4f, acts with cut and on good; not the force of old but hinting at better of late. Haydock veterans handicap third promising; whether or not he can back that up debatable. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (20/1 -43%)Classic Getaway |
20/1(-43%) | (3) Classic Getaway 20/1, Yard won this last year; had run of race, ran to form 7l third in BAR 1 Betting Chase (Grade 3) at Cork most recent run; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft, good; unreliable Graded winner, likes to have own way, looks at lower level nowadays. 3m too far last time, back to probably his optimum trip here so considered. |

16/1(-33%) | (7) Karia Des Blaises 16/1, Yard won this last year; pulled up in Irish Grand National (Grade 3) at Fairyhouse latest; effective 2-2 1/2m, acts with cut; consistent until latest, form has been franked emphatically. Ran no sort of race in Irish National but not to be ruled out off a fair mark here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (18/1 -29%)Magic Mccolgan |
18/1(-29%) | (14) Magic Mccolgan 18/1, Yard won this last year; pulled up in Irish Stallion Farms Novice Handicap Chase Final (Listed) at Navan latest where never jumped or travelled; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft; progressing over fences until latest. Never travelled latest, previous Naas second would give her definite claims. |

|PU| (4) (9/1 +10%)Dee Capo |
9/1(+10%) | (4) Dee Capo 9/1, Ran to form, conceded first run to stablemate, not given a hard time when second beaten 2 1/4l in the Conditions Chase at Clonmel latest; usually held up; effective 2 1/2m, acts on any, needs to go right handed; inconsistent but talented. 6lb higher than when winning here in November; more needed. |

|PU| (11) (10/1 +50%)Where's My Jet |
10/1(+50%) | (11) Where's My Jet 10/1, Yard won this last year; outclassed down the field in Jack Richards Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (Grade 2) at Cheltenham most recent; effective 2 1/2m; stiff mark. Penultimate Leopardstown run was decent but others preferred. |

25/1(-108%) | (1) Down Memory Lane 25/1, Not find much after bad error, not knocked about comfortably held in Fairyhouse Chase (Grade 2) at Fairyhouse last time; effective 2-2 1/2m, acts on soft, yielding; talented, fair mark on Graded form but jumping an issue. Navan win was good but recent Fairyhouse run was poor; cheekpieces now tried. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (25/1 +24%)Midnight It Is |
25/1(+24%) | (9) Midnight It Is 25/1, Ran well to a point but didn't stay down the field in Sun Racing Plate Handicap Chase at Cheltenham most recent; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on yielding, soft; mark stiff enough. Didn't seem to get home in 2m4f Plate last month; stamina concerns remain at this trip. |

The reappearing NOUVOTIC steps up in grade, but this will have been a target and he has suitable ground conditions. Although beaten from a hurdles rating of just 116 at last year's Festival, he is lightly raced and remains a little unexposed as a seven-year-old chaser. He is 8lb higher than when scoring at Wexford, with that race's runner-up franking the form in finishing fourth in the Grand Annual. King Alexander ran well in Cheltenham's novices' handicap chase, while Down Memory Lane was Grade 1-placed in December 2024 and won a Listed handicap chase last December.

A chance is taken on CONYERS HILL, back in trip after not staying in the Thyestes and, no doubt, freshened up in the interim

5/1(-67%) | (5) Hugh 5/1, Bit keen but some promise on debut 5l fourth in a novice at Kempton; effective 6f on AW; can go well granted normal improvement. Place behind Wezzeer on Kempton debut and wasn't as eyecatching. |

2/1(-14%) | (4) Gold Star Gazing 2/1, Ran similarly to debut when 2l third in a novice at Kempton most recent run; since undergone a wind op; effective at 7f on AW; can go well. The form pick and could be another 3yo winner for the Fanshawe team. |

66/1(-100%) | (6) Likeadyinwasp 66/1, Confirmed debut level beaten 6l in a maiden at Newcastle last time; handicaps will be more his thing once qualified. Small step forward, in RPR terms, at Newcastle last week but is still hard to fancy. |

8th (3) (50/1 -100%)Forest Phoenix |
50/1(-100%) | (3) Forest Phoenix 50/1, Similar level to debut well beaten in a maiden at Thirsk latest; seems effective at 7f; improvement needed down in trip. Similar profile/chance to stablemate Agric Ranger. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (150/1 -127%)The Cyprus Pearl |
150/1(-127%) | (10) The Cyprus Pearl 150/1, Moderate debut beaten 9 1/4l in a maiden at Newcastle on debut; off a short-break; quite speedily-bred; should improve. 125-1 when down the field on debut at Newcastle; sole filly and looks best watched. |

Having finished third on both outings as a juvenile, GOLD STAR GAZING can put that experience to good use. James Fanshawe's colt has subsequently undergone a wind procedure and any improvement should make him tough to beat. Wezzeer boasts a recent run, when finishing third on his opening bid at Kempton, and he isn't taken lightly. Reopposing fourth Hugh shouldn't be far behind.

Wezzeer won't be long in winning but GOLD STAR GAZING can provide James Fanshawe with yet another 3yo winner.

4/1(+75%) | (7) Endofastorm 4/1, Kicked clear, returned to form but probably made move a bit too soon beaten a length off this mark here last time; top course jockey; effective 12-14f, acts on any; multiple course winner, on fair mark if building on recent revival. Dual course winner who returned to form when runner-up here at around 1m5f on Monday. |

6/4(+75%) | (3) Silkies Sib 6/4, Scored by a neck off a 2lb lower mark at Chelmsford in February; effective 9-12f, acts on soft, good and AW; mark a fraction stiff but generally consistent. Pulled hard and unfortunate not to finish closer at Leicester four days ago; hood back on. |

4th (5) (9/1 -50%)Whiteley Way |
9/1(-50%) | (5) Whiteley Way 9/1, Out-battled late but ran to form beaten a nose off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time; usually held up; effective 7-10f, acts on heavy and AW; chance if building on latest. Went close at Kempton over 1m after completely missing the break last time; up in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (13/2 -30%)Chourmo |
13/2(-30%) | (6) Chourmo 13/2, Bit free and flattened out but ran to form 3/4l third in a classified race at Wolverhampton most recent run; off a short-break; suited by 8-10f, acts on any; chance if getting stiff test at the trip. Has attracted support since joining this yard and was a close third on the AW last time. |

Cases can be made for a handful of these, but punters should stick with EUTROPIA. Adrian Wintle's filly recorded only a narrow success over the mile here, but returning to further should be of benefit and a 4lb rise does not look insurmountable. Whiteley Way has claims following a narrow Kempton defeat, while both Chourmo and Crafter could have a say too.

Eutropia won here over 1m last time and is second choice behind SILKIES SIB who was repeatedly denied a clear run at Leicester.

1st (3) (5/6 +33%)Gaelic Warrior |
5/6(+33%) | (3) Gaelic Warrior 5/6, Winner of six G1s; improved again when winning Cheltenham Gold Cup (Grade 1) at Cheltenham by 8l last time; effective 2m-3m1f, acts on soft, good; can be tricky and freegoing but top class GC winner, remain competitive at G1 level, unexposed as a stayer. Impressive Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, has a stronger Punchestown record than Fact To File. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/8 -8%)Fact To File |
13/8(-8%) | (2) Fact To File 13/8, Winner of five G1s; yard won this last year; when winning Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup (Grade 1) at Leopardstown by 5l last time; off a short-break; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on soft, good to soft; top class and latest win franked in GC; major player. Avenged John Durkan loss when beating Gaelic Warrior at Leopardstown, intriguing rematch. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (28/1 -75%)Grangeclare West |
28/1(-75%) | (4) Grangeclare West 28/1, Yard won this last year; unseated in Grand National at Aintree latest when well fancied; usually held up; effective up to 4m2f, acts on soft, good; unlucky in 2025 National and primed all year for another tilt but has run well at top level. Third in the 2025 Grand National, exited at the first this year, stable's third string now. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 +0%)Inothewayurthinkin |
8/1(+0%) | (5) Inothewayurthinkin 8/1, Winner of two G1s; 10l third in Cheltenham Gold Cup (Grade 1) at Cheltenham most recent run; won that contest in 2025; effective up to 3m3f, acts on soft, good; needs further than 3m, spring ground suits, could build on latest revival but bit to find with a couple of these on recent meetings. 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero, looks safely held by Gaelic Warrior on last month's clash. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (33/1 +0%)Champ Kiely |
33/1(+0%) | (1) Champ Kiely 33/1, Winner of two G1s; yard won this last year; didn't stay well beaten in Grand National at Aintree latest; effective 2-3m, acts on any; looks below top level in open company. Won the Grade 1 novice here last year, making up the numbers on this season's evidence. |

Gold Cup heroes GAELIC WARRIOR and Inothewayurthinkin, along with high-profile Cheltenham withdrawal Fact To File, intriguingly meet again. Gaelic Warrior scored brilliantly in the blue riband, is at the peak of his powers, and while twice beaten by Fact To File, both those races were at Leopardstown where he has never shown his best. Admittedly, Fact To File is fresher having been withdrawn from the Ryanair Chase due to ground conditions but Gaelic Warrior has an excellent course record here. Inothewayurthinkin has been beaten by the aforementioned pair plenty of times and reserves his best for the Cheltenham Festival. He has 10 lengths to find with the selection on last month's enigmatic Gold Cup third.

Form at this course favours the Cheltenham Gold Cup hero GAELIC WARRIOR over Fact To File who is more at home at Leopardstown

1st (5) (10/3 -33%)Tabby |
10/3(-33%) | (5) Tabby 10/3, Ran to form despite big absence beaten 1/2l off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; effective 6f on sound surface; chance if avoiding bounce on quick reappearance. The one to beat if this doesn't come too soon. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/1 -43%)Dicko The Legend |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Dicko The Legend 10/1, Lacked pace beaten 3 1/2l off a 1lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last time; off a short-break; effective 6f on sound surface; mark keeps easing, needs more. Completely blew the start at Wolverhampton last time and best watched today. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 -100%)Glamour Show |
7/1(-100%) | (4) Glamour Show 7/1, Ran to form beaten a length off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; suited by 6f and a sound surface; can go well again. This 0-71 (effectively) is a big drop in grade; major claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -41%)Belsito |
12/1(-41%) | (3) Belsito 12/1, Bit keen and below form on return beaten 7l in a handicap at Thirsk last time; effective 6f, suited by cut, acts on AW; chance if coming on for return. Much better can be expected here in refitted headgear. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7/2 +42%)Neyva's Angel |
7/2(+42%) | (6) Neyva's Angel 7/2, Back to best, hit the line well down in trip landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 5lb lower mark here last time; effective 5-7f, acts on good to soft and AW; needs more off this mark. Typically lost ground at the start over C&D latest but came through to win; up 5lb. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/4 +50%)Fan Mail |
11/4(+50%) | (8) Fan Mail 11/4, Best work late beaten 2 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark at Newcastle last time; suited by 6f, acts on AW; below last winning mark, must bounce back. C&D winner off 1lb higher last autumn; not beaten far at Newcastle of late. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/1 +18%)Shazani |
7/1(+18%) | (2) Shazani 7/1, Found little tried in blinkers beaten 4l in a handicap at Leicester last time; effective 6-8f, acts on any, likes Doncaster; bounce back needed. Showed more spark latest; not ruled out if taking to AW at the first attempt. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (28/1 -75%)Thurso |
28/1(-75%) | (1) Thurso 28/1, Below form beaten 7l in a handicap here last time; trainer in form; effective 6/7f, acts on a sound surface; easing in weights, needs more. Well weighted but more miss than hit of late. |

Neyva's Angel appreciated a return to 6f when landing the spoils over C&D earlier this month and she must enter calculations in her follow-up bid. However, a 5lb higher mark does demand more and TABBY may prove to be better treated. The Muhaarar filly arrives on the back of a second-placed stable bow at Wolverhampton, her first appearance in 478 days, and compensation could be imminent. Glamour Show is the pick of the remainder.

Tabby is the most interesting runner but a quick turnaround isn't ideal, so Scott Dixon's GLAMOUR SHOW is preferred.

22/1(-57%) | (5) Prodigal Son 22/1, Stopped quickly well beaten in a handicap at Kempton latest; blinkers first time; returning from a break; effective at 7f, acts on good, good to firm, AW; struggling since going handicapping. On a reduced mark but he's a seven-race maiden with a stamina question to answer. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/11 +70%)Signcastle City |
10/11(+70%) | (2) Signcastle City 10/11, Scored by a head off this mark at Chelmsford in February; found nil up in class tenth beaten 5l off 74 last time; trainer in form; effective 7/8f, acts on soft, good to firm and AW; back on last winning mark but bit to prove. Not at top of game lately but this C&D winner is on his last winning mark; not written off. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/4 -50%)My Ambition |
9/4(-50%) | (6) My Ambition 9/4, Ran to form back from break beaten 1 1/2l off this mark at Lingfield last time; suited by 1m, wants sound surface, preferably fast ground; mark competitive and could build on reappearance which has been boosted. Three-time C&D winner who was runner-up on AW on reappearance; ticks lots of boxes. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 -125%)Magical Merlin |
9/1(-125%) | (3) Magical Merlin 9/1, Did too much too soon back from break, needed run well beaten in a handicap at Kempton latest; tongue-tie first time; effective 7-8f, acts on good to firm, good to soft; poor strike rate but on fair mark and should come on for latest. Solid in light 2025 campaign; down the field on return but no surprise if he's in the mix. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 +27%)Darvel |
8/1(+27%) | (1) Darvel 8/1, Found little, needed run down the field in a handicap here most recent; top course jockey; suited by 8f, acts on any but has often underperformed on soft; had been in good form last summer but mark now looks stiff. Needs to leave reappearance well behind but this two-time C&D winner is still respected. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (18/1 -64%)Redredrobin |
18/1(-64%) | (4) Redredrobin 18/1, Below form, been running ok before this beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at Epsom last time; returning from long layoff; effective 7-8f and on any ground; bit to prove. 9yo; absent since last summer but ran well first time up last season; not discounted. |

SIGNCASTLE CITY has been kept busy on the all-weather, although his form tapered off slightly after his victory at Chelmsford in February. However, Richard Hannon's gelding has been more effective on grass throughout his career and can bounce back from 11lb below his last winning turf mark. My Ambition made a pleasing return at Lingfield last month and although the same can't be said for Magical Merlin after he dropped away tamely at Kempton, it would be unwise to write him off.

Three-time C&D winner MY AMBITION reappeared with a good second at Lingfield last month and can go one better. Darvel is feared.

Decisive Limerick success; could well play a role if handling quicker conditions. |

14/1(-27%) | (4) Celestial Tune 14/1, Pulled up in Irish EBF Mares I.N.H. Flat Race (Grade 2) at Leopardstown latest; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on soft and good; form of Listed win had plenty of knocks. Too keen at the DRF; claims on wins at Listowel and Cheltenham though. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/1(-13%) | (15) Coole Cafe 9/1, Ran to form when winning Kevin McManus Bookmaker Champion Flat Race (Listed) at Limerick by 3/4l last time; effective around 2m with cut; hurdles and bumper winner, strong stayer at 2m, worth step up in class. Has 3l to find with Belladaball from Fairyhouse; better ground should suit. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/8 +31%)Glens Anthem |
11/8(+31%) | (6) Glens Anthem 11/8, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; very promising debut 7 1/2l winner in a bumper at Navan on debut; effective 2m, acts on soft; beat well touted rival on debut, looks very useful. 66/1(-164%) | (12) Tintara 66/1, Bit free in front but had run of race, very promising debut when second beaten a head in a Mares bumper at Cork latest; effective 2m, acts on yielding; point form has been boosted. Outpointed late by Born Believing at Cork early this month; this a lot stiffer task. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (14/1 -75%)Kiltybo |
14/1(-75%) | (8) Kiltybo 14/1, Every chance, ran to form beaten 8l in Nickel Coin Mares' NH Flat Race (Grade 2) at Aintree last time; in good form prior; effective at 2m with cut; consistent. Front-running wins at Thurles and Naas; exposed at Aintree so more needed. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (33/1 -65%)Goulmichette |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Goulmichette 33/1, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; keen, went clear, made too much use of 14l third in a Mares bumper at Ayr most recent run; hood first time; effective 2m, acts on soft; looks a nice prospect for top yard but will need to settle better. Too keen at Ayr, given a break since and hood now fitted. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (16/1 +20%)Maximillian Lady |
16/1(+20%) | (10) Maximillian Lady 16/1, Travelled, ran to form just out-battled late by useful rival when second beaten 2l in Mucklemeg Mares Flat Race (Listed) at Gowran Park latest; hood first time; usually held up; effective 2m, acts on S, G; progressing. 22/1(-175%) | (2) Belladaball 22/1, Improved when winning Total Enjoyment Mares Flat Race (Listed) at Fairyhouse by 3l last time; effective at 2m on soft, good; progressive. Came off strong pace for Fairyhouse win; quicker ground but definite player if handling it. |

9/1(-38%) | (9) Latosca Du Houx 9/1, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; did it easily, very promising debut 12l winner in a Mares bumper at Ayr on debut; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on soft; debut form franked over hurdles, worth step up in class. Ayr winner for Nicky Richards has since joined top yard; respected. |

GLENS ANTHEM has an excellent pedigree and showed real potential in scoring last month. Related to many smart performers, her dam Glens Melody won infamously at Cheltenham in 2015, when capitalising on Annie Power's final-flight fall. Glens Anthem defeated mostly fellow debutants in scoring at Navan, but impressively clocked a fast time in beating a Charles Byrnes-trained gamble into second place. Coole Cafe won at Listed level at Limerick but is vulnerable to high-class types, while Maximillian Lady finished second in a Listed bumper at Gowran in October and debuts for new connections.

Twelve previous winners with preference for the hat-trick seeking COOLE CAFE, whose turn of foot could prove crucial

Struggled in three qualifying runs and only midfield at Southwell on his handicap debut. |

2nd (6) (4/1 +64%)Palazzo Ducale |
4/1(+64%) | (6) Palazzo Ducale 4/1, Out-kicked and outclassed down in trip comfortably held in a maiden at Wolverhampton last time; top course trainer; off a short-break; probably wants 1m; yet to show much ability. Struggled in three starts in novice/maiden company; much better needed on handicap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/4 +54%)Atalanta Mist |
11/4(+54%) | (1) Atalanta Mist 11/4, Needed run on handicap debut comfortably held in a handicap here last time; effective 7f, acts on good; should build on return but needs to. Yet to progress from October's debut and she was a 10l fifth over this C&D 12 days ago. |

28/1(-75%) | (4) Skyolaire 28/1, Well beaten again, one for handicaps well beaten in a novice at Leicester latest; bred to want 10f+; likely to need step-up in trip to continue progress. Hinted at ability in the second of three qualifying runs; steps up to 1m on h'cap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/4 -20%)Dash Of Class |
9/4(-20%) | (3) Dash Of Class 9/4, Forced wide from poor draw, ran to form beaten 2l off this mark at Southwell last time; stays at least 9f, acts on AW; open to progress if will settle, fair claims on latest. 10/1(-200%) | (7) Lady Lauren 10/1, Ran to form beaten 3l off this mark here last time; effective 7-8f on good, good to soft; running into form. 0-8 but ran some respectable races in handicaps last year, including here when last seen. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (12/1 +40%)Aplaceinthesun |
12/1(+40%) | (2) Aplaceinthesun 12/1, Never travelled, unenthusiastic and wanting further beaten 8l in a nursery at Chelmsford last time; returning from a break; bred to be suited by 7f, action will suit a sound surface; temperament a concern. Disappointing since her debut at Yarmouth last summer; steps back up in trip on yard debut. |

DASH OF CLASS has made steady progress in a couple of all-weather handicaps and she wouldn't need to find bags of improvement, with the switch to turf potentially of real benefit to the daughter of Earthlight. Billy Loughnane gets back aboard Mohmentous for the first time since his debut and he is of interest, as is Lady Lauren, and it would come as no great surprise were Atalanta Mist to leave a moderate seasonal return behind.

Lady Lauren is second choice on her return, behind DASH OF CLASS (nap) who has posted two solid efforts since entering handicaps.

9/2(-13%) | (4) Havana Club 9/2, Hinted at revival up in trip when fourth beaten 6l in a handicap here latest; suited by 7/8f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; largely out of form and not one to rely on building on latest. 2lb lower than for last May's C&D win and took a step back in the right direction latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4th (5) (4/1 +11%)Man Is King |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Man Is King 4/1, Ran to form beaten 3 1/2l off this mark at Beverley last time; effective 8-12f, acts on yielding, good and AW; chance in this. 1-50 but he has posted some solid efforts, including when third behind Scenario over C&D. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (13/8 +73%)Scenario |
13/8(+73%) | (3) Scenario 13/8, Scored by 1 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark here penultimate start; too much to do having met trouble when closing seventh beaten 3 1/4l off 54 last time, same mark here; effective 7-10f, acts on good to soft, good to firm and AW; mark still competitive. C&D winner this month and unfortunate not to go closer at Wolverhampton latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

11/1(+21%) | (7) Fact Or Fable 11/1, Continued in modest form beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; suited by 8f, acts on any; veteran remains on a competitive mark but in poor form. Three-time C&D winner who was held in sixth here on his reappearance 12 days ago. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

80/1(+20%) | (10) Havana's Dream 80/1, No worthwhile form; top course jockey; usually held up; off a short-break; impossible to fancy. Unplaced in ten starts and beaten 43l at Lingfield three months ago; off since. |

80/1(-60%) | (9) Frontpagemoos 80/1, Below par beaten 10l in a classified race at Wolverhampton last time; cheekpieces first time; all to prove still. Poor maiden who was last of seven at Wolverhampton 43 days ago; cheekpieces now tried. |

BRINTON made a race of it with a bang in-form winner at Wolverhampton and that form has worked out well, with her conqueror and the third both going agonisingly close since, and even the fifth was only just beaten at Nottingham next time. Jonathan Portman's mare is probably happiest on an artificial surface, but she is capable enough on turf. Man Is King hasn't been far away of late and heads a list of dangers that also includes Simba's Gift and C&D winners Scenario and Havana Club.

C&D winner Scenario is second choice behind HAVANA CLUB who took a step back in the right direction here last time.

OASIS SUNRISE didn't take to hurdling and has been more at home back on the level, building on a comeback C&D fifth when runner-up, again over track and trip. She had Eye Of The Water three lengths and a couple of positions behind and can confirm that form to go one better. Redhot Whisper fared better than Baynoona when third here, but the latter was making her reappearance and should improve past her rival.

Baynoona should come on from her reappearance but OASIS SUNRISE is selected to go one better than she did her last time.
Ths is the racecard key.
