1st (4) (4/5 -10%)Zappata |
4/5(-10%) | (4) Zappata 4/5, Suited by fast ground when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 46 at Wetherby last time; well treated if turned out quickly; can follow up Won at Wetherby on Sunday and should be tough to beat under a 6lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (6/1 +50%)Mission In Malton |
6/1(+50%) | (8) Mission In Malton 6/1, Beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; cheekpieces first time; top course trainer; inconsistent in short career; bit more needed Midfield in both handicaps; perhaps first-time cheekpieces will eke out something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 -65%)Martha Costello |
14/1(-65%) | (6) Martha Costello 14/1, Met trouble when down the field in a handicap over 6f here most recent; worth ignoring that effort; usually consistent; good mark on AW form; interesting Encouraging fourth on handicap debut (6f, AW) but well beaten here only ten days ago (6f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (14/1 -27%)Harry Palmer |
14/1(-27%) | (5) Harry Palmer 14/1, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a handicap at Newcastle latest; ran well on reappearance prior; had wind op; stamina to prove Unable to threaten in first two handicaps; wind op since and may be capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/1 +38%)I Can Boogy |
5/1(+38%) | (2) I Can Boogy 5/1, Ideally suited by trip when scored by a head off 47 at Southwell penultimate start; sixth beaten 5l off 52 last time where not best placed; contender Best form has come on AW; sixth over C&D latest but each-way shout nevertheless. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (8/1 +11%)Wondrous Ways |
8/1(+11%) | (1) Wondrous Ways 8/1, Appeared not to stay beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap here last time; just 1lb above last winning mark; not proven trip; big stamina concerns once more Didn't run badly when fifth over C&D on first crack at 1m and has each-way possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (40/1 -300%)Bigfield Dreams |
40/1(-300%) | (3) Bigfield Dreams 40/1, Down the field in a maiden at Lingfield most recent; cheekpieces first time; not proven trip; unproven on fast ground; yet to prove up to even this lowly opening mark; best watched Newmarket challenger who goes handicapping off a lowly mark in first-time cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (50/1 -150%)Storm Kitty |
50/1(-150%) | (7) Storm Kitty 50/1, Well beaten in a novice over 7f at Newcastle latest; generally out of form; not proven trip; unproven on fast ground; hard to fancy Has shown little on her three starts but she's a possible improver on handicap debut. |

ZAPPATA struck by over a length on his second start in a handicap at Wetherby on Sunday and only has a 6lb penalty to shoulder. With Liam Wright negating 5lb of that with his claim, he could prove tough to beat. Harry Palmer produced a fair effort when third at Newcastle prior to disappointing in first-time cheekpieces at the same venue last time, but has since undergone a wind operation and may bounce back. I Can Boogy completes the shortlist.

This looks a good opportunity for ZAPPATA to defy a penalty for Sunday's win at Wetherby. Storm Kitty is feared.

1st (4) (6/1 -71%)Jungle Cruise |
6/1(-71%) | (4) Jungle Cruise 6/1, Below par beaten 9l in a handicap over 8f here last time; in good form prior; usually held up; up in trip; unproven on fast ground; threat if stamina holds up but that is a worry Has missed the kick all four starts to date; goes up in trip again this afternoon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (14/1 -40%)Twilight Guest |
14/1(-40%) | (6) Twilight Guest 14/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap over 8f here most recent; inconsistent; step up in trip a plus; not out of it off light weight Longstanding maiden who can hang left; is capable but comes with risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/2 +50%)Rock Armour |
5/2(+50%) | (3) Rock Armour 5/2, Bit in hand scored by 3l off 56 at Newcastle in February; tenth beaten 5l off 62 last time; this easier; unproven on fast ground; consistent; can make presence felt Best work has come on Tapeta; hard to be sure he's up to winning off this mark on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/4 +25%)Fillyfudge |
6/4(+25%) | (2) Fillyfudge 6/4, Second beaten 6l in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Stratford latest; goes well here; down in trip; fast ground a plus on flat return; 1lb above last winning mark; contender Dual C&D winner; ran well over hurdles when last seen a month ago and holds decent claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (6/1 +33%)Eljaytee |
6/1(+33%) | (5) Eljaytee 6/1, Probably needed race beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap here last time; generally out of form; unproven on fast ground; vulnerable even off this basement mark Has come to hand early the past two seasons; could have done without the dry spell though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (18/1 -300%)Exquisement |
18/1(-300%) | (1) Exquisement 18/1, Beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap over 7f at Deauville last time; up in trip; best French form on testing ground; best watched unless market suggests otherwise on stable debut Ex-French; goes beyond 1m for the first time and the market will be the ultimate guide. |

Fillyfudge is a C&D winner who ran with credit when second over hurdles at Stratford last time and remains on a workable mark on the Flat. However, French recruit EXQUISEMENT is making her first start for the Michael Keady yard and is by far the most interesting runner in this contest. The four-year-old filly finished third in a handicap at Amiens two starts ago and can make an immediate impression on these shores. Jungle Cruise is another to consider.

Dual C&D winner FILLYFUDGE faces her ideal conditions back in the visor, although support for Exquisement would look significant.

10/3(+5%) | (5) Double Parked 10/3, Well backed second beaten 1 1/2l in a novice at Newcastle latest; top course trainer; steadily progressing; unproven on fast ground; threat if coping with it Placed on AW the last twice and strong claims if transferring that form back to grass. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/1 -122%)Camino Del Ray |
10/1(-122%) | (1) Camino Del Ray 10/1, 1/2l winner in a maiden at Newcastle on debut; worth more than winning margin that day; form had knocks but go close if coping with the fast ground Won on debut in March (7f, AW); bright prospect; one of two key players for the stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/10 +41%)Mystical Storm |
11/10(+41%) | (4) Mystical Storm 11/10, Ran to form 3 1/4l third in a novice here most recent run; that very strong form and boosted last week; outside chance Third last autumn on first two starts; he's one to consider on his reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/2 +17%)Evangelic |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Evangelic 5/2, Down the field in a 2yo race at The Curragh most recent; usually consistent; highly tried at 2; form of placed effort franked at Group level; could figure In the mix on his best 2yo form and Lambourn trainer has an excellent record here. |

6th (8) (80/1 -220%)Yellow Dream |
80/1(-220%) | (8) Yellow Dream 80/1, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; wide trip down the field in a novice at Newcastle most recent; plenty more needed on turf debut Didn't show enough on her two outings last autumn to suggest she'll be winning this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (150/1 -127%)Havachoc |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Havachoc 150/1, Below par down the field in a maiden at Thirsk most recent; needs to improve and likely one for low grade handicaps after this Displayed ability on debut but others have shown more, and he's been tailed off since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (28/1 -133%)Kennedys Pass |
28/1(-133%) | (7) Kennedys Pass 28/1, 45,000gns Profitable filly; half-sister to Aslan, smart at 10f; dam smart at 6f at 2yo; looks an unlikely winner on debut 45,000gns yearling with attractive pedigree; will need to be useful to win this on debut. |

Camino Del Ray made his way through the field to score on his debut at Newcastle and will have lots more to offer, but he may find it tough to beat DOUBLE PARKED. Tim Easterby's three-year-old took a step forward to fill the runner-up spot at Newcastle on his latest outing and might only need to find minimal improvement in order to get off the mark. Evangelic is another to note on his return to action.

Charlie Hills has an excellent record at Redcar in recent seasons and EVANGELIC is taken to make a winning return.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (33/1 +50%)The Dancing Poet |
33/1(+50%) | (10) The Dancing Poet 33/1, Below par down the field in a handicap at Musselburgh most recent; generally out of form; hard to recommend Disappointing since his Catterick win in September and has plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

28/1(-133%) | (7) Love You Darling 28/1, Well backed beaten 3l off 75 at Ripon last time; returning from long layoff; not proven on AW; more needed Unexposed at this trip but this is competitive on her return and she needs to find more. |

Leading apprentice Jack Doughty teaming up with KING'S SCHOLAR could be a winning partnership. The in-form rider has picked up where he left off last season and he looks an ideal partner for Ed Walker's returning four-year-old, who is already a winner over this trip and resumes from a very workable rating. Previous C&D winner Destinado has been in good heart of late and is feared the most, although Tipsy Tiger and William Walton help to make this competitive.

The vote goes to WILLIAM WALTON, who was a good second on his handicap debut at Chelmsford and is open to more progress back in trip.

A winner over fences at Ayr last month, THE OTHER MOZZIE is well treated back over flights. Raised to a mark of 145 after easily landing a premier handicap, the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding can run off just 119 here. Lightly raced over hurdles, the six-year-old has the scope for further improvement and has been found a nice opportunity to exploit his current rating. Kap Ouest has proved somewhat disappointing in recent starts, but trainer Harry Fry always deserves maximum respect at this particular meeting. It would be no surprise to see an improved performance from the British raider. Mercury Mission is an improving gelding who has to hold every chance of completing his hat-trick.

A ferociously competitive handicap to kick things off and a chance is taken on Harry Derham's TURN AND FINISH to come out on top

4/1(+47%) | (2) Hibernate 4/1, Probably needed race fourth beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap at Chelmsford latest; unexposed at the trip; significant jockey booking; may contend if handling the faster ground Took a step in the right direction on handicap debut latest; could be competitive.. |

Gigi Bliss has failed to show a great deal in her three runs in novice/maiden company, but could prove a different proposition up in trip on her handicap bow. Even so, TELECOMMUNICATION looks the way to go. Michael Bell's gelding was a disappointing favourite when fourth at Wolverhampton, but that was still a respectable effort and he could make amends off an unchanged mark. Antelope is another to keep an eye on.

The suggestion is HIBERNATE, who looked to be going the right way on his handicap debut and may be capable of getting off the mark.

Sychell improved on her debut effort to make the frame at Southwell on her latest outing and it would be no surprise to see her feature with further progression. However, LOTHLORIEN beat a well-fancied favourite to score by a short head on her debut in August last year. Provided Kevin Ryan's filly builds on that success on her return to the fray, she could prove hard to beat. Fluorescence isn't ruled out either.

This probably most concerns the penalised winners LOTHLORIEN, Fluorescence and Angelic Bugler, plus recent third Sychell.

KIPP KELLY has been threatening to make the most of a plummeting handicap mark and is tentatively forwarded as a likely key player. A close second over this trip at Wolverhampton on Monday, Derek Shaw's four-year-old won't need much of a step forward to make the most of getting weight all round here. Street Life was third in that race and should again be on the premises, while Stroxx and Lynwood Lad are others who could have a big say.

Top of the list is STROXX (nap), who has won twice at 5f this year and is a big player on this drop back in trip.

80/1(-21%) | (22) The Dara Man 80/1, Made too much use of down the field in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Limerick most recent; down in trip; significant jockey booking; inconsistent; may find this on the sharp side Pulled up at Naas in January & finished tailed off at Limerick in March; hard to recommend. |

TULLYHILL might have the class to concede weight to his rivals. Runner-up in the Grade 1 bumper at the Festival here a couple of seasons back, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding easily landed a Listed novice hurdle at this track the following year. Although pulled up on his only subsequent visit here, the seven-year-old looks nicely handicapped over fences. Runner-up in two of his three starts to date, the son of Martaline has to be respected for leading connections. Aspire Tower may never reach the same heights as a chaser that he did over flights, but the Henry de Bromhead-trained nine-year-old remains a smart horse. Recent Cork winner Mirazur West arrives in excellent form following that first success in this sphere.

JASKO DES DAMES is a C&D winner who would have finished closer at Cheltenham last time but for a late blunder. He's can make amends

VERSE OF LOVE made a strong impression with her debut success at Newmarket and much was expected on her return when favourite for the Nell Gwyn, but she couldn't land a blow and finished only seventh. Charlie Appleby's filly became unbalanced after being way too keen, so it would be no surprise to see her bounce back. Chiringita found one too good at Southwell when last seen and could improve with a winter under her belt. The Third Star completes the shortlist.

The well-entered VERSE OF LOVE is into calmer waters this afternoon and fancied to get back on track. Chiringita is feared most.

A highly-promising second on her return to turf over 6f here recently, LADY OF THE GARR had done well over the winter on the all-weather and this appeals as a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways. Not beaten far at Catterick last time out, Latin Five can follow her home, along with Match Play, who is 10lb lower than his last success.

The filly DORALEE is returning from an absence but this very lightly raced 4yo could be on a handy mark. Latin Five is second choice

5/1(+50%) | (3) Lokma 5/1, Had benefited for debut experience beaten 4 1/4l in a novice over 6f at Kempton last time; looked then like 7f may suit so drop back to 5f a worry, but contender Has ability but this is competitive and she needs improvement dropped in trip. |

12/1(-60%) | (2) Honest Courtesan 12/1, Weak in the betting when Third beaten 3l in a maiden at Chelmsford on debut; trainer in form; open to improvement and not out of it Showed promise at Chelmsford last month and she should benefit from that experience. |

66/1(-100%) | (5) Money Pockets 66/1, Green and faded after showing speed when well beaten in a novice at Thirsk only start; returning from long layoff; plenty to prove Tailed off on Thirsk debut (5f, soft) last April and can only be watched on her comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (6/5 +47%)Musical Angel |
6/5(+47%) | (6) Musical Angel 6/5, Made too much use of 6l third in a novice over 6f at Newbury second start after promising debut; returning from quite a long layoff and back in trip, but worth one chance Placed at Ascot and Newbury in her two 2yo runs; needs close look back in trip on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (6/4 +25%)Vamp |
6/4(+25%) | (8) Vamp 6/4, Three solid efforts, latest game second beaten a neck in a novice over 6f here; had looked to want further than 5f previous start so that is a negative, but obvious chance on ratings Went close over 6f here last month and she's respected on this drop back in trip. |

VAMP is an attractive proposition for a race of this nature and is the obvious starting point given the daughter of Mehmas sets the standard on the official rating after three encouraging starts. Musical Angel has winners in her pedigree and is another key player returning in the famous colours of Jeff Smith. This is also a decent starting point for her three-year-old season and support in the betting would make her very tempting. Honest Courtesan is another to keep an eye on.

This is a tight call between Vamp and MUSICAL ANGEL but the vote goes to Andrew Balding's filly.

3/1(-118%) | (2) Vanillier 3/1, Race may have come a bit soon in Grand National over 4m2f at Aintree most recent; in good form prior; goes well here; big chance down in grade though ideally could do with some rain Course winner before Cheltenham third, major chance if none the worse for Aintree run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (33/1 +67%)Empire Soldier |
33/1(+67%) | (6) Empire Soldier 33/1, Well beaten in a conditions race over 3m1f at Lingstown latest; up in trip; off a short-break; all to do Twice placed in points. down the field over the banks at Lingstown on latest. |

VANILLIER can make up for a luckless Cheltenham run by gaining some form of compensation. The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding, who couldn't land a telling blow in the Grand National latest, was prominent in the early stages at Cheltenham before dropping towards the rear after almost taking the wrong route. Having to make up considerable ground in order to get back into the race, the grey did exceptionally well to run on for third. Granted a clearer passage, he is very much the horse to beat. A previous winner of this race, the veteran Vital Island holds leading claims despite his advancing years. Three By Two should be involved as well.

If none the worse for his run in the Grand National, VANILLIER should prove equal to the task on the evidence of his Cheltenham third.

12th (12) (250/1 -150%)Romance In Rome |
250/1(-150%) | (12) Romance In Rome 250/1, Raced freely down the field in a novice over 10f at Kempton most recent; back in trip; all to do and needs this for a mark Has produced two moderate efforts at Kempton (1m3f and 1m2f, AW); much more needed.. |

Narrowly denied on debut in the Wood Ditton, SPY KINGDOM sets a lofty standard and he should be able to go one better for his in-form stable. Roman Centurion improved from his first to his second start when runner-up over 7f here last October and he is a key player, as is newcomer Influential, who hails from a family that Roger Varian knows well. Desert Heart is another open to improvement for last year's winning trainer.

After he belied his starting price by going very close on debut, SPY KINGDOM is taken to go one better.

9th (8) (15/2 +6%)Northerner |
15/2(+6%) | (8) Northerner 15/2, Probably needed race beaten 2l off 54 at Nottingham last time but did travel well to a point; fair mark on autumn AW form; chance Ten-race maiden; continues down the weights and she's been thereabouts on a few occasions. |

Placed on each of his last five outings, including at Nottingham the last time, SERGEANT MAYER deserves a change in luck and he may be able to get that in what looks like a winnable contest. A creditable fourth at Catterick most recently, Let's Go Hugo is entitled to be thereabouts, while Golden Rainbow is another who could make the frame.

Sergeant Mayer looks nailed on for a prominent finish but a chance is taken instead on a return to form from DUNNINGTON LAD.

9th (8) (80/1 -60%)Apache Canyon |
80/1(-60%) | (8) Apache Canyon 80/1, Seemed to be on stiff mark down the field in a handicap over 12f here most recent; generally out of form; down in trip; bit to find Failed to beat rival on last two runs for Michael Wigham; lots more needed for new yard. |

On target over C&D in March before going on to repeat the dose six days later, a confident vote goes to DOWN TO THE KID. Michael Herrington's six-year-old is still attractively handicapped, despite a further 3lb rise, and this does not look the deepest of contests. Jack Daniel had previously been beaten by the selection but posted a narrow second earlier this month and he remains of interest, along with Milteye, who shaped with real promise on his stable debut at Pontefract recently.

A case can be made for a few of these but JACK DANIEL posted an excellent second over C&D for his new yard last time so edges the vote

|PU| (18) (40/1 +39%)Building Bridges |
40/1(+39%) | (18) Building Bridges 40/1, Made too much use of down the field in Handicap Hurdle over 3m1f at Aintree most recent; that a good effort considering; should come on for the run; in good form prior; probably bit to come He's an exposed dual-purpose performer and others are more intriguing. |

Paul Nolan can land this nice staying prize with PARK OF KINGS. Fifth in a hot renewal of the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham, the gelding ran an even better race upped in trip at Aintree last month. With his stamina assured, the JP McManus-owned seven-year-old could be ridden a shade more prominently on this occasion. Having been a consistent performer all season, the Walk In The Park gelding can gain just reward. Pertemps runner-up Jeriko Du Reponet gives McManus a strong hand in the race and Nicky Henderson's gelding is a classy sort. Chart Topper could also go well.

A wickedly competitive handicap. For one having only his sixth race, BECKETT ROCK did well to finish sixth in the Coral Cup

150/1(-88%) | (2) Noble Order 150/1, Slowly away down the field in a handicap at Kempton most recent; generally out of form; unproven on fast ground; plenty more needed Will need to improve a lot upon two starts for current connections if he's to pop up. |

MR SWIVELL was beaten just half a length into second on his debut for a new yard at Chelmsford and he looks well capable of notching up a third career success. That may be at the main expense of Kingdom Of Time, who has been runner-up on three of his last four starts but has yet to break the maiden. The hat-trick seeking Bass Player and Royal Velvet may also have a say in proceedings.

Leading candidates Kingdom Of Time and MR SWIVELL (nap) are both straightforward prominent-racers, with the latter preferred.

7/4(+13%) | (4) See That Storm 7/4, Improved again when landing a handicap by a neck off 85 here last time; that form had knocks; goes well here; contender with promise of more to come this term 3-3 in handicaps and for this yard (two over C&D) and he has to be respected on his return. |

2nd (2) (5/2 -11%)Creatif |
5/2(-11%) | (2) Creatif 5/2, Ideally suited by trip when landing a handicap by 4l off 80 at Newcastle last time; second run after wind op; more to come judged on French form; can follow up Very lightly raced; won at Newcastle recently; he's just the type his trainer excels with. |

6th (1) (17/2 +47%)Per Contra |
17/2(+47%) | (1) Per Contra 17/2, Ran to form beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Nottingham last time; top course trainer; prefers a sharp track; unproven on fast ground; on last winning mark; hard to fancy in current form Failed to kick on last year and sold for 14,000gns, but he's capable when fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (28/1 -75%)Whiskey Pete |
28/1(-75%) | (6) Whiskey Pete 28/1, Did not get a clear run down the field in a handicap at Doncaster most recent; in good form prior; unproven on fast ground; highly tried last term; in the mix down in grade Well treated on form as recent as last autumn but he's struggled this year. |

Having recorded a hat-trick at the end of his 2024 campaign, See That Storm must warrant consideration on his return to action. However, a 3lb higher mark and a lack of a recent run could leave Edward Bethell's gelding vulnerable and LORD PROTECTOR is more compelling. The seven-year-old has filled the frame on both outings this season and compensation may be on the horizon. Last-time-out winner Creatif completes the shortlist.

David O'Meara does well with his French recruits and the very lightly raced CREATIF (nap) can follow up his easy win at Newcastle.

14/1(-17%) | (5) Broken Spear 14/1, Game when scored by a head off 61 at Newcastle in March; seventh beaten 9 1/4l off 70 last time; down in trip; outside chance Scored at Newcastle in March but seventh at Ripon two weeks ago; the sort to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 -79%)Madame Fenella |
50/1(-79%) | (9) Madame Fenella 50/1, Below par beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap over 6f here last time; generally out of form; up in trip; capable off this mark, but first start over 7f Off 11 weeks before fifth of seven in 6f handicap here 11 days ago; she can build on it. |

A few of these arrive in fine form but the vote goes to REGINALD CHARLES. The son of Zoustar returned from a 381-day absence when successful over C&D before going on to record a cosy triumph at Newcastle next time. The handicapper has since had his say, but given past exploits, a 6lb rise should be no barrier to further success. Fistral Beach has won three of her last four racecourse appearances and she looks certain to continue that upward trajectory, while others to note include King Of York and Billy McGarry.

A few with chances but REGINALD CHARLES is thriving for Geoff Oldroyd and can overcome a 6lb weights rise to go 3-3 for his new yard.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -100%)Beauforts Storm |
100/1(-100%) | (4) Beauforts Storm 100/1, Ran to form comfortably held in Donohue Marquees Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) at Fairyhouse last time; good ground suits; will be ridden to pick up pieces but more needed Useful mare but on the balance of her form she'll probably be placed at best. |

The ground will be much more suitable for SIXANDAHALF here after she skipped Fairyhouse due to testing conditions. The Snow Sky mare takes a drop in grade now after being nabbed late on in the Mares' Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham by Air Of Entitlement. She looked all set for victory that day after travelling well to lead before the last and should prove hard to beat in this company. Karamoja could be the danger after a solid run to finish third in the aforementioned Grade 1 contest at Fairyhouse. Karoline Banbou, who was sixth at Fairyhouse, has to enter calculations too.

This looks all about SIXANDAHALF who holds some key opposition on their Cheltenham clash. Timetoshine is interesting

She's The Duchess lost little in defeat when touched off at Pontefract last month and a mark of 79 is workable on her handicap bow. However, STELLENBOSCH's reappearance second at Newmarket looks slightly stronger form and Richard Hannon's filly edges the call. All-weather winner Jowddah has done little wrong in four appearances to date and she must enter calculations, along with the returning Saariselka.

Several hold claims but STELLENBOSCH looks well treated based on her reappearance effort at Newmarket and is taken to break her duck.

4/1(+60%) | (3) West Tyrone 4/1, Game when scored by 2l off 68 over 8f at Southwell penultimate start; sixth beaten 5 1/4l off 73 last time when went too fast; Won at Southwell in March but only sixth there last time; cheekpieces are left off. |

4/1(-78%) | (8) Kimeko Glory 4/1, Ideally suited by trip when landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off 59 at Beverley last time; raced lazily that day; unproven on fast ground; could follow up off light weight Bolted up in handicap at Beverley last week and could be tough to beat under 6lb penalty. |

10/3(+49%) | (4) Springbok 10/3, Made too much use of beaten 4l off 75 over 9f at Musselburgh last time; inconsistent at 2; up in trip; unproven on fast ground; contender if bringing best but risky Fifth on handicap debut but has a useful pedigree and could improve for that latest run. |

6th (6) (12/1 -20%)Blueandtangerine |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Blueandtangerine 12/1, Did not get a clear run beaten 9l in a handicap over 7f at Beverley last time; generally out of form; up in trip; acts on fast ground; best watched at present Soundly beaten on both runs this year but the step up in trip may prompt improvement. |

7th (7) (14/1 -17%)Cangofar |
14/1(-17%) | (7) Cangofar 14/1, Below par beaten 7 1/4l in a novice over 9f here last time; usually consistent; top course trainer; step up in trip should suit; unproven on fast ground; outside claims on handicap debut Not obviously well treated off opening mark but he's a brother to two winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (4/1 +33%)Gennadius |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Gennadius 4/1, Raced freely second beaten a short-head in a novice over 6f at Brighton latest; up in trip; consistent; acts on fast ground; chance off lenient opening mark Has shown ability; pedigree suggests handicap debut trip will suit but he might pull hard. |

A step up in distance worked the oracle for KIMEKO GLORY when routing her rivals over this trip at Beverley seven days ago. Mark Walford's filly is likely to take all the beating under a 6lb penalty and a quickfire double could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from handicap-debutant Gennadius, who arrives on the back of a good second in novice company. Divine Legacy is worth a second look too.

Beverley winner Kimeko Glory is well treated under a 6lb penalty but handicap newcomer RAULIN could also be ahead of his mark.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (18/1 -125%)Mattice |
18/1(-125%) | (6) Mattice 18/1, Probably needed race beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap over 5f at Doncaster last time; in good form prior; blinkers first time; up in trip; could bounce back Shaped as if run was needed when 15th at Doncaster on return; possibilities. |

MATTICE was relatively prominent in the betting when returning to action in a competitive Doncaster event in March and although the six-year-old ultimately disappointed, he might be worth chancing. With just four starts on an artificial surface, including when narrowly denied at Newcastle from 1lb lower in December, the application of first-time blinkers could help eke out a bit more. Beelzebub wasn't able to justify favouritism at Leicester recently but further support would be noteworthy today. Hierarchy is also noted.

This could go the way of BEELZEBUB who shaped well for his new yard when fourth at Leicester and can capitalise on a handy-looking mark.

9/1(+25%) | (5) Rubaud 9/1, Ran to form comfortably held in Manifesto Novice Chase (Grade 1) over 2m4f at Aintree last time; usually consistent; enjoys making it; drop in trip and better ground will help; more to come judged on hurdle form; outside chance Classy sort but struggled in Grade 1 company at Aintree and similar story awaits here. |

6th (2) (28/1 -27%)Jeannot Lapin |
28/1(-27%) | (2) Jeannot Lapin 28/1, Ran to form second beaten 8l in Flyingbolt Novice Chase (Grade 3) at Navan latest; that form franked at Grade 1 level this week; off a short-break; better ground a plus; plenty more needed Shock 150-1 beginners' win at Leopardstown; tough tasks the last twice; up against it here. |

It's hard to oppose MAJBOROUGH here as he bids for compensation after an unlucky defeat in the Arkle at Cheltenham. The Martinborough gelding did well to stand up after a blunder at the second last and wasn't good at the final fence either, eventually picking up again on the run-in to finish a close third to Jango Baie. He can turn the tables on Only By Night, who was only a short head in front of the selection in a thrilling finish at Prestbury Park. The mare ran a cracker that day and looks like the main danger. Jeannot Lapin is next best.

Only By Night beat MAJBOROUGH in the Arkle but the Willie Mullins-trained 5yo should easily reverse the form with better jumping

16/1(-60%) | (3) Azoozi 16/1, Appeared not to stay comfortably held in a handicap at Nottingham last time; not proven trip; unproven on fast ground; bit to find Has gone backwards since handicapping and is some way down the pecking order. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (66/1 -136%)Tequila Rose |
66/1(-136%) | (7) Tequila Rose 66/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap over 6f at Pontefract most recent; went too fast that day; generally out of form; cheekpieces first time; more needed Tailed off on her comeback; tried in another new form of headgear, going up in trip. |

TRIPLE DOUBLE A won going away on his handicap bow at Redcar and he's likely to prove a warm order to follow up. A 6lb penalty probably won't take Hugo Palmer's gelding to the ceiling of his ability and there should be more to come. Faye Bramley is already making a name for herself so Pay Attention warrants respect after a promising fourth over C&D last month. The down-in-class Mini Mac completes the shortlist.

This looks all about TRIPLE DOUBLE A, who won with something in hand at Redcar and has been found the ideal race under a penalty.

4th (4) (11/2 +0%)Egoiste |
11/2(+0%) | (4) Egoiste 11/2, Game when landing a handicap by a neck off 61 over 12f at Kempton last time; trainer in form; usually held up; return to 10f no issue; bang in the mix again C&D winner; scored at Kempton (1m4f) last month; 3lb rise fair and likely to go well again. |

BEAULD AS BRASS appeared to have plenty in hand when winning a similar event under this rider at Lingfield last week and the five-year-old merits the utmost respect, despite a 5lb penalty. This is a very competitive event and Meadram is another with strong form claims following his C&D success in March. Egoiste edges out Life On The Rocks to be the pick of the remainder.

Beauld As Brass is the obvious starting point after last week's easy Lingfield win but LIFE ON THE ROCKS is a viable alternative.

125/1(-89%) | (7) Skyler 125/1, Not best trip down the field in a novice over 7f at Wolverhampton most recent; down in trip; needs to improve and one for handicaps after this Beaten 20l at odds of 250-1 at Wolverhampton only 12 days ago (7f). |

DAN TUCKER went down fighting to an 83-rated opponent on seasonal debut/first run since being gelded at Nottingham 22 days ago. Beaten less than a length in that race, the son of Dandy Man sets a decent standard and could be very tough to overhaul. El Pinto ran green in both starts as a juvenile but certainly showed ability. He resumes as a credible option. Mister Invincible and the newcomer Summerstorms Dream are others to monitor in the betting.

El Pinto is much respected on the strength of his second run but this still looks a golden opportunity for DAN TUCKER.

66/1(+0%) | (7) Meet And Greet 66/1, Ran to form second beaten 9l in the QuinnBet Hurdle over 2m2f at Leopardstown latest; step up in trip a plus; off a short-break; plenty more needed up in grade Gained first win for almost three years at Limerick three starts back, no appeal here. |

TEAHUPOO can repeat last year's victory. The Masked Marvel gelding is wonderfully consistent and despite losing his crown in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham, he still ran a big race to finish second to Bob Olinger. He is sure to turn up and give his running again and is the one to beat. Rocky's Diamond ran a fine race to finish fourth at Cheltenham and he's still only five. Declan Queally's charge is open to further improvement and could be the danger. Hiddenvalley Lake commands plenty of respect as well.

Despite having run only twice since completing a Grade 1 hat-trick last year, TEAHUPOO (nap) can be fancied to gain a repeat success.

KURAKKA confirmed the promise he displayed on debut at Kempton in November when finishing third at the same venue on his next outing. Alan King's colt should have more to offer as a three-year-old and he tops the shortlist. Respond cost 130,000gns as a yearling and should not be underestimated on his racecourse bow. Altareq wasn't disgraced in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket and is another to note.

Altareq can leave his debut behind him but DESERT SHADOW will find this easier than the warm Dubai races he tackled in January.

2/1(+67%) | (6) Ski Angel 2/1, Won this last year; probably needed race beaten 2l off 47 at Musselburgh last time; goes well here; dropping in weights but losing run mounting up Won last year's renewal off 2lb higher mark and went on to win again at Musselburgh.. |

Ski Angel won this corresponding race off 2lb higher 12 months ago and, with Rhys Elliott claiming a further 5lb form the saddle, is dangerous to underestimate. However, Michael Dods plays a strong hand with both King's Crown and NELSON GAY holding bigger chances. The latter shades a narrow vote, though, as he is potentially the better handicapped of the pair based on their peak ratings. Back Tomorrow is another for the shortlist.

There are questions over all the runners but SKI ANGEL won this race last year off 2lb higher. He is selected ahead of Sixcor.

KSAR FATAL is still in the could be anything category. The Buck's Boum gelding was well touted before this racecourse bow at Gowran Park in March and left a big impression with an easy nine-length success. He obviously faces a stiffer test now but is fancied to go well. UK raider El Cairos commands respect after a fine run to finish fifth behind Bambino Fever in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. He may be able to confirm form with He Can't Dance, who was eighth that day. The latter's trainer Gordon Elliott also saddles Koktail Brut for owners Gigginstown and he's another to note.

Willie Mullins can land this prixze KSAR FATAL who looked smart in winning a point and took a Gowran bumper in great style

FORGLEN arrives on the back of a close third over C&D a week ago and the four-year-old has to be of interest off the same mark here. Drouthy Neebor was running consistently well in defeat towards the end of last year and must be noted on his return to action, while Foinix should not be discounted based on his fourth at this venue in February.

This looks to be a formality for IT'S TIM after his second successive win at Brighton on Tuesday. Drouthy Neebor is second choice.

Several old rivals come together and there is little to choose between any of them on past form. However, INANNA could be worth forgiving Monday's effort over 6f as she was too keen for her own good and failed to show her true colours as a result. Running off just 3lb above her last winning mark, Jim Golidie's mare is well worth another chance. Clasina and Darbucks should be on the premises, while Golden Valour likes it here and can also go well.

All of these ran moderately last time except for CLASINA who was an unlucky fourth. The main danger is C&D winner Darbucks.

Dropping back to 6f looks just what the doctor ordered for ARABIAN DUSK, who failed to stay but ran with plenty of credit in the Nell Gwyn. Last year's Duchess Of Cambridge winner sets the standard and is preferred to Irish raider Lady With The Lamp, who impressed on her return in a Listed contest at Cork. Three from four as a two-year-old, Star Of Mehmas must be of interest on the rise in distance, and Running Queen isn't out of it either.

A classy renewal and two-time Listed winner LADY WITH THE LAMP is marginally preferred to Arabian Dusk.

Glasses Up proved he retains plenty of enthusiasm at the ripe age of 10 when a game winner over 1m5f here on Monday, and Mike Smith's gelding merits respect under the penalty. That being said, he might prefer further nowadays and preference is afforded to LAUDABLE. Running on the all-weather over the winter yielded mixed results for the son of Havana Gold, but he will relish the return to turf and his current mark is well within range. Penelope's Sister is also noted.

The penalised GLASSES UP is already the winningmost Flat horse at this course and he has every chance of following up Monday's win.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/4 +18%)Bishop's Crown |
9/4(+18%) | (2) Bishop's Crown 9/4, Probably needed race beaten 4l off 83 at Kempton last time; conditions suit; should strip fitter, threat Couldn't reward market support on last month's return to action; perhaps sharper now. |

MONSIEUR BEAULIEU has held his form so well through the winter and into the spring, and looks to have been found a nice opportunity on the drop in grade. The booking of Jim Crowley catches the eye and Nick Littmoden's charge may have too much for Bishop's Crown, who didn't shape badly on his return at Kempton recently. A comfortable winner at Haydock on his comeback last year, Baba Reza must also enter calculations for his in-form yard.

A tight handicap in which the returning BABA REZA can enhance his fine Chelmsford record with his stable going along nicely.

1st (1) (13/8 +0%)Alfie Boy |
13/8(+0%) | (1) Alfie Boy 13/8, Improved again when landing a handicap by 2l off 57 at Beverley last time; worth more than winning margin that day as idled in front; could follow up Made all of the running at Beverley last Thursday; shoulders a 5lb penalty.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2/1 +27%)Braes Of Doune |
2/1(+27%) | (2) Braes Of Doune 2/1, Did not get a clear run beaten 2 1/4l off 61 at Doncaster last time; top course jockey/trainer combination; goes well here; usually held up; consistent; contender Fourth on reappearance at Doncaster five days ago but is 6lb above his last winning mark.. |

4th (7) (33/1 +50%)Zebra Star |
33/1(+50%) | (7) Zebra Star 33/1, Raced freely beaten 4l in a handicap over 6f at Newcastle last time; generally out of form; not proven trip; returning from a break; lot to find Won at this meeting last year but has run poorly since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 -64%)Falcon Nine |
9/1(-64%) | (3) Falcon Nine 9/1, Below par beaten 2 1/2l off 59 over 7f at Thirsk last time; up in trip; frustrating longstanding maiden; others appeal more Slowly away and did well in the circumstances to finish fifth at Thirsk nine days ago.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/1 -33%)Cisco Disco |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Cisco Disco 16/1, Below par beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at Musselburgh last time; inconsistent; dropping in weights but on long losing run; risky Went very close over C&D in October but hasn't won since October 2022.. |

ALFIE BOY was in command when defeating Hostelry (second) at Beverley recently and, if arriving in a similar mood today, he ought to hold every chance of defying the 5lb penalty for that success. The latter is expected to keep him honest, though, but a bigger threat might come from Braes Of Doune. Jim Goldie's gelding shaped with promise on his return to action at Doncaster on Saturday and appears likely to enter calculations.

Having made all to beat Hostelry at Beverley last Thursday, ALFIE BOY (nap) can confirm the placings.

3rd (4) (8/1 -78%)Dark Side Prince |
8/1(-78%) | (4) Dark Side Prince 8/1, Ran to form beaten 3l off 62 over 5f here last time; goes well here (five wins over 5f); 6f a concern; showed bit more last time but only raced twice over 6f and below par both Prolific winner with a good Chelmsford record; all bar two of his 45 runs have come at 5f. |

4th (3) (12/1 +0%)Kodi Red |
12/1(+0%) | (3) Kodi Red 12/1, Below par beaten 4l in a handicap at Kempton last time; CD winner; regressive since October (when won over CD) and struggling to find level Inconsistent but won twice in 2024, including C&D off 5lb higher; not at best in 2025. |

5th (6) (25/1 -108%)Sir Rodneyredblood |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Sir Rodneyredblood 25/1, Game when scored by a neck off 57 over 5f here three starts back; seventh beaten 6 1/4l off 48 last time; back up in trip, stays; bit to find Prolific winner but disappointed twice last month; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (20/1 -67%)Lord Danielson |
20/1(-67%) | (7) Lord Danielson 20/1, Wide trip beaten 5l in a handicap over 7f here last time; in good form prior; CD winner (both career wins); better expected dropped back to this trip, in the mix Two C&D wins in January; good 7f run on penultimate start; below best latest; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (33/1 -725%)Instant Bond |
33/1(-725%) | (2) Instant Bond 33/1, Weak in the market 3 1/4l third in a maiden over 5f at Newcastle most recent run in November; first time on Polytrack; back up in trip a plus; on decent mark on pick of maiden form Promise in uncompetitive AW maidens last autumn; betting to guide on handicap debut. |

A three-month break did the trick for Southwell scorer Noble Consort and he must enter the reckoning. However, a 6lb higher mark does demand a career-best performance and it could be worth taking a chance on the up-in-distance DARK SIDE PRINCE. The son of Equiano hasn't attempted 6f since July 2020, but his latest staying-on third here suggests that it's worth revisiting. Handicap debutant Instant Bond is also noted.

Bill Plumb may do better dropped in class but NOBLE CONSORT (nap) is on the up and can defy a 6lb rise for last month's easy win.

16/5(+36%) | (3) Cascade Hall 16/5, Below par beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap over 12f at Musselburgh last time; inconsistent in short career; top course jockey/trainer combination; could figure if stamina holds up Has a jumps pedigree and was well held on handicap debut over 1m4f at Musselburgh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (15/8 +17%)Zephlyn |
15/8(+17%) | (4) Zephlyn 15/8, Well backed when landing a handicap by 3/4l off 57 over 2m at Newcastle last time; down in trip; consistent; threat but holds no secrets from handicapper All wins on the AW, including last time; fine on turf and races prominently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 +8%)Inspire Hope |
6/1(+8%) | (2) Inspire Hope 6/1, Yard won this last year; below par fourth beaten 11l in a novice over 12f at Newcastle latest; in decent form over hurdles prior; not proven trip; bit to find Useful winning hurdler and now making her handicap debut on the Flat. |

Marbuzet bumped into an improver when filling the runner-up spot at Redcar last time out and Tim Easterby's charge is of interest from an unchanged mark. Zephlyn was on target over the extended 2m at Newcastle in March and that proven stamina is to his advantage, for all that earlier turf efforts will need to be improved upon. With that in mind, a chance is taken on INSPIRE HOPE. Completely unexposed on the Flat, she doesn't look overburdened by an opening mark of 66, though it is the step up in trip that could hold the key.

Tim Easterby's MARBUZET ran perfectly well on his recent reappearance and he's off his last winning mark.

5th (6) (25/1 -25%)Lady Shinto |
25/1(-25%) | (6) Lady Shinto 25/1, Fourth beaten 11l in a novice over 6f at Kempton latest off a layoff; significant jockey booking; up in trip, should help; on reasonable mark for handicap bow, could figure Reappearance 4th came in steadily run race & may not be solid; 7f should suit; h'cap debut. |

6th (1) (4/1 +11%)Kilteel |
4/1(+11%) | (1) Kilteel 4/1, Slowly away beaten 6l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; cheekpieces first time; first time on Polytrack; possibly prefer further now but player on pick of form 7f win at Newcastle last year; had excuses on Monday; now tried in cheekpieces; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 +40%)Crimson Lad |
12/1(+40%) | (5) Crimson Lad 12/1, Going probably on fast side comfortably held in a handicap over 6f at Redcar last time; first time on Polytrack; not proven trip (poor only try but off a layoff); bit to prove Little solid form but had an excuse (draw) last time and unexposed over 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (33/1 -65%)Lucky Escape |
33/1(-65%) | (2) Lucky Escape 33/1, Below par well beaten in a novice over 6f at Southwell latest in December; cheekpieces first time; returning from a break; up in trip, should suit; tough on handicap debut but chance Modest form in 3 sprint runs in late 2024; new trip for handicap debut; cheekpieces added. |

Having posted his best effort to date when a staying-on fourth over 6f here a week ago, MY BOY HARRY makes most appeal. The son of Massaat should relish the extra furlong and he's marginally preferred to Lady Shinto. An opening mark of 46 for Charlie Wallis' filly could prove on the lenient side and it will be interesting to see how she fares in the market. Aim For The Bull is pick of the remainder.

Low-grade fare and AIM FOR THE BULL may be able to register a first success. My Boy Harry is feared most.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
