Hurt You Never

0.73/1(+20%)
(6) Hurt You Never 0.73/1, Career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Redcar (6f, good to firm, 5/1) 7 days ago, easily. Major player under a penalty.
Had plenty of racing but unearthed her career-best RPR when scooting clear at Redcar..

2nd (5) Port Noir (6/1 -20%)
Port Noir

6/1(-20%)
(5) Port Noir 6/1, Won 8-runner handicap at Lingfield (6f, good to firm, 11/2) 7 days ago, snapping a long losing run in the process. Far from certain to back that up under a penalty here but she'll be a threat if able to do so with star apprentice Billy Loughnane in the hot-seat.
Effectively only 3lb higher than for last week's Lingfield win on similar ground..

3rd (7) Landing Strip (50/1 -52%)
Landing Strip

50/1(-52%)
(7) Landing Strip 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Brighton (8f, good to firm) 14 days ago, slowly away. Down in trip and she's opposable.
Not progressed from a half-decent debut; going sprinting is a change in direction..

4th (1) Jupiter Express (8/1 -33%)
Jupiter Express

(1) Jupiter Express 8/1, Hooded for 1st time cheekpieces on for 1st time, seventh of 10 in handicap (6/1) at Catterick (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago, not much room. Looks vulnerable for win purposes. Yard also saddles Fantasy Navigator.
Got no luck in running when tried in this new headgear combination at Catterick..

Gilt Edge

(2) Gilt Edge 9/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2021. Below form sixth of 11 in handicap (22/1) at Chepstow (6.1f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Has dipped to a workable mark and she's not discounted.
Good to soft not ideal so far this season and last year's best form brings her into it..

Almodovar Del Rio

6.5/1(-18%)
(3) Almodovar Del Rio 6.5/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 8/1) 33 days ago. Conditions in his favour back on turf and while he doesn't always 100% convince with his finishing effort, a bold show would be no surprise.
Not really kicked on from last summer's Brighton win, though hasn't been running badly..
7th
7th (8) Alya's Gold Award (20/1 -43%)
Alya's Gold Award

20/1(-43%)
(8) Alya's Gold Award 20/1, Tenth of 12 in minor event (50/1) at Southwell (5f), slowly away. Off 103 days and back up in trip on debut for new yard.
Some sign of winning potential at sprint trips in 12 defeats for her previous yard..
LTO Selection:

14:00 Leicester Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HURT YOU NEVER must saddle a penalty having bolted up at Redcar, but Adrian Nicholls' charge could be difficult to beat if turning up in the same form. Port Noir was able to exploit a drop in the handicap when winning at Lingfield last time out and she merits the utmost respect in the capable hands of Billy Loughnane, while Jupiter Express can't be ruled out eased in class.

It's not everyday that 6f handicaps are won by 5 lengths and HURT YOU NEVER, who did just that at Redcar last week, will take the world of beating under a 5 lb penalty if in a similar mood here. Gilt Edge hasn't hit the target for a while but she's dipped to a potentially handy mark and could be the one to follow the selection home. Almodovar del Rio and recent Lingfield winner Port Noir should both have parts to play, too.

If she's in the same form as at Redcar last week then HURT YOU NEVER is likely to take some stopping under a penalty.

0.73/1(+34%)
(3) Jaytee 0.73/1, Better than ever when runner-up over C&D last month and backed that up when going one better here (25.8f) 2 weeks ago, soon clear. Obvious claims.
Won comfortably by 11l in first-time visor here a fortnight ago and makes obvious appeal.

Bbold

2.25/1(+32%)
(1) Bbold 2.25/1, Won here (25.8f) a year ago off 8 lb higher and ran up to his best when third at Warwick in September. Below par since, though might have needed the run on second start for this yard at Newton Abbot 3 weeks ago.
Ran okay in a hunter chase last month and has been given a chance by the handicapper.
3
3rd (2) Tango Boy (4.5/1 -125%)
Tango Boy

4.5/1(-125%)
(2) Tango Boy 4.5/1, Opened his account over jumps when taking Wetherby handicap (good to soft) in October and bounced back quickly from a tame run when winning a match race at Catterick in February. Seems a bit in and out but he's very capable off this mark and has good record fresh.
2-3 during light campaign last season; still on a workable mark and has conditions to suit.
LTO Selection:

14:15 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JAYTEE bolted up by 11 lengths last time over 3m2f at this track and he has only been put up 5lb for that display, which could prove a very lenient rise and makes him very difficult to oppose once more. Tango Boy can beat Bbold home for second, as he beat one rival home at Catterick in a class 3 event in February and is the clear next best on that level of form.

TANGO BOY and Jaytee both arrive at the top of their game with narrow preference for the former, who has a good record fresh.

All three have claims but JAYTEE was seemingly in career-best form on his two starts here last month and gets the vote.

LTO Selection:

14:30 Leicester Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Etihad Rail did all of his best work late on when finishing third over this trip at Newbury on debut, so this stiff finish should play to his strengths. Debutants from the Andrew Balding stable often improve for their initial experience, though it would be no surprise were Bits And Bobs to go well. A chance, however, is taken on RAFT UP. A full-brother to Sherdil, who hit the woodwork on his debut, there might be some value in siding with the son of Dandy Man.

ETIHAD RAIL showed fair form when third at York on debut and can make that experience count. Bits and Bobs and Cheeky Blimey make most appeal of the newcomers before market clues.

Etihad Rail is preferred of those with experience but BITS AND BOBS was short in the market when a late withdrawal at Windsor.

LTO Selection:

14:45 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LIMERICK LEADER was 12 lengths clear of the third when filling the runner-up spot last time in a class 4 event, and that was only his third chase start, which suggests he could have more to come in this sphere. Another to consider is Fabrique En France, who was dropped another 2lb in the weights for his third over C&D last time and can remain competitive. Harry Du Berlais can be forgiven for his latest effort and could get involved too.

LIMERICK LEADER pulled clear of the rest when a close second under this rider at Newcastle 3 weeks ago so has obvious claims off 4 lb higher. Coupdebol disappointed last season but he's becoming well handicapped so may emerge as the main threat down in class.

Rose Dobbin's LIMERICK LEADER went up 4lb for finishing second last month but the form has already been well advertised by the winner.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Leicester Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SHAZAM appeared to relish a step up in trip when winning at Lingfield on her handicap debut a week ago, and the Almanzor filly is fancied to repeat the dose under a 6lb penalty. Recent Bath scorer Jimmy Mark ought to remain competitive with Oisin Murphy in the saddle, while Man Made Of Smoke, who continues to run well in defeat, can chase them home.

There was much to like about the way SHAZAM did the job on her handicap debut upped to this trip at Lingfield last week and, with the best surely yet to come from this well-bred filly, she will take plenty of stopping under a penalty with top apprentice Billy Loughnane booked. Jimmy Mark is feared most having improved when opening his account at Bath recently but don't be surprised should Midsummer Dance leave her previous form behind now that she ventures down the handicap route.

An interesting handicap. Shazam will be popular but LILLISTAR is taken to atone for her excusable no-show at Wolverhampton.

LTO Selection:

15:15 Southwell NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GRANNY HAWKINS is related to a few winners, including being a full-sister to Klitschko, who struck on his bumper debut for the Alan King stable. The daughter of Blue Bresil boasts an appealing profile and can strike at the first time of asking. The main threat is Aston Martini, who also makes her debut for powerful connections and, if the market speaks in her favour, she would be of huge interest. Darting Rose could have a say as well.

ASTON MARTINI is sure to be well prepared on debut given the yard she represents so a winning start would come as no surprise. Granny Hawkins is another likely debutante on paper, with Darting Rose the clear pick of those with experience.

Preference is for Nicky Henderson's newcomer ASTON MARTINI, who has a nice pedigree. Granny Hawkins is second choice.

LTO Selection:

15:30 Leicester Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Maxi Boy hasn't been seen for 630 days and the now-gelded son of Oasis Dream warrants a market check on his return, especially when considering the booking of Oisin Murphy. However, a chance is taken on ABOVE, who drops in class following a disappointing run at Newmarket over 6f last month. He is rated 3lb lower now and can be expected to go well, but Royal Musketeer finished a creditable second on his return to action and should not be dismissed.

Compensation awaits MAKEEN, who surely would've won had he got the breaks at Newmarket, an effort which suggests that he's in top form. Ernie's Valentine put in good late work when third at Goodwood last time and, likely to benefit from the return to a stiffer track (sole turf win was gained here as a 2-y-o), he looks a big threat. Maxi Boy is also feared, despite the lengthy absence, and Royal Musketeer, who was a place ahead of the unlucky-in-running Makeen at Newmarket, also has claims.

This might not be run at too strong a gallop but MAKEEN (nap) is tactically versatile and his latest Newmarket run was a big one.

LTO Selection:

15:45 Southwell Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Only narrowly denied over an extended 2m4f at Huntingdon last month, A DEFINITE GETAWAY rates the one to beat in an otherwise weak contest. He has been progressive recently and is taken to break his maiden at the eighth time of asking. Genovese makes his hurdling debut following a fair third in a bumper over 2m at this track and is feared most, while Delta Run returns from a break and is another to consider.

A DEFINITE GETAWAY did nothing wrong in finishing second for the third start in a row to a subsequent winner at Huntingdon last month, so is well worth another chance to shed his maiden status. Tommouse and bumper-winner Genovese are both bred to appreciate the step up in trip and are considered the main threats.

The suggestion is TOMMOUSE, who shaped with promise in two 2m hurdle races this spring and is bred to benefit from the step up in trip.

16:00 Leicester Maiden (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A wide-open maiden with several appealing contenders lining up, but ZIRYAB appears to be an improving type and is fancied to break his duck at the third time of asking. He kept on for second over a mile in a stronger contest at York last month and a drop in class can see him build on that. Any market support would be significant for Theatre Honours, who showed promise when filling the runner-up spot at Newmarket last month, while Fleet Admiral adds further spice to the race.

THEATRE HONOURS ran to a high level for a newcomer when second to a smart prospect at Newmarket so he should take plenty of beating. Ziryab was no match for his exciting stablemate at York but is still a clear next best ahead of well-bred newcomer Dubai Dreamer.

This looks a decent maiden with ZIRYAB and Theatre Honours the standout contenders. The Gosden runner edges preference.

LTO Selection:

16:20 Southwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Dasher Riley recorded a staying-on success over 2m at Worcester last time out, but he has to shoulder top-weight in this, so KINCARDINE shades the vote. He remains 4lb above his last winning mark following a disappointing run at Ludlow last month. However, he kept on well to score over an extended 2m at Exeter in April and a drop in class can help Nicky Henderson's six-year-old bounce back. Cabrakan completes the shortlist.

PRESENTING PETE has a fine record over C&D and could be ready to strike again after an encouraging comeback at Market Rasen. Worcester-winner Dasher Riley has to be feared, while Pink Eyed Pedro returns from a year off on a very tempting hurdles mark.

Another chance can be given to PRESENTING PETE (nap), who is now only 2lb higher than when winning in good style over C&D last summer.

16:35 Leicester Handicap (Class 4) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FAIRBANKS did it very nicely at Haydock on his handicap bow, scoring by just over three lengths, for which he has only been raised 6lb in the weights. The son of Nathaniel has the likelihood of much more to come and he could prove very tough to beat once more. The main danger is Brave Knight, who struck at Windsor last time and competes off 5lb higher. It's All About You is another to consider.

BRAVE KNIGHT was much improved when beating a subsequent winner on his handicap bow at Windsor 2 weeks ago and can defy a 5 lb rise with further progress on the cards. Fairbanks is another who took a big step forward when making a winning handicap debut at Haydock so is the obvious threat, while Dasho Lennie remains with potential having been left poorly placed at Ascot.

Windsor scorer BRAVE KNIGHT looks just the type to improve further and run up a sequence. Fairbanks is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This can go the way of APPRECIATE, who escapes a penalty having won a conditional jockeys' event at Cartmel under Bradley Harris six days ago. Forget The Way shaped with promise on his first start following wind surgery last month and is entitled to take a step forward eased 2lb in the ratings, while Chemical Warfare appeals most of the remainder.

APPRECIATE had plenty in hand when getting back to winning ways at Cartmel only six days ago yet can race off a 2 lb lower mark here so is hard to oppose. Forget The Way posted a good fourth at Warwick last time on the back of wind surgery and appeals as the one to chase home Milton Harris' 5-y-o, with Allbetsoff fancied to get back on track and claim minor honours.

Off 2lb lower than last week's Cartmel win, APPRECIATE is taken to give the weight away. Bobby Socks is preferred of the remainder.

LTO Selection:

17:05 Leicester Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Bird Of Play had Starlight Nation (fourth) behind when going in at Haydock last time and he could have been let off lightly with only a 2lb rise to contend with, but ROARING RALPH was a more impressive victor, and he just shades the vote. The son of Roaring Lion showed a liking for first-time blinkers as he accounted for his rivals by just under five lengths at Redcar. He boasts leading claims searching for a quick-fire double.

It's hard to look beyond ROARING RALPH, who quickly put the race to bed when coming from off the pace to open his account in first-time blinkers at Redcar last week. He is a step ahead of the handicapper under a 5 lb penalty. Starlight Nation was only a length adrift of the winner Bird of Play at Haydock 12 days ago and, armed with a 2 lb pull, he is taken to reverse those placings and grab the silver medal.

Roaring Ralph has a lot going for him but STARLIGHT NATION wasn't seen to the best effect when fourth at Haydock.

LTO Selection:

17:20 Southwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Tommydan ran on to finish a good second over an extended 2m4f here when last seen, leaving the impression he should be ideally suited by this step up in trip. Stripe Of Honour was fancied to follow up on last month's Worcester success when running in a void race at the same venue 11 days ago, so he remains of interest. First-time cheekpieces and the return to a sounder surface could help CHAMP ROYAL and he receives a tentative vote.

ABINGTON PARK's stint over fences wasn't particularly successful but he's of strong interest returned to this sphere off an attractive mark, and with conditions in his favour. This step up in trip could be a good move for handicap debutant Jimvale and he is second choice ahead of Doors Breaker, who didn't do much wrong when third at Haydock last time. Stripe of Honour needs more up 8 lb for his Worcester success and, like Tommydan (creditable though his latest effort was), he looks vulnerable.

Danny Brooke's GET PHAR gets the nod in the hope he can replicate the form of his creditable C&D third from just under a year ago.

LTO Selection:

17:30 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A return to an artificial surface looks set to suit HARRY THE HAGGLER, who struggled over a mile at Windsor on his most recent run in April. He was second over C&D on his penultimate run and Stuart Williams' inmate must be of interest. Intoxicata remains unexposed and switches to Polytrack for her handicap debut, so any market support should not be ignored, along with Poppaea stepping up in trip.

HARRY THE HAGGLER seemed to get bogged down on heavy ground at Windsor last time and his runner-up effort over C&D prior to that reads very well in the context of this. He can get back on track in a race where few make appeal, albeit Regal Glory is back on her winning mark and Poppaea is a handicap debutante for a good yard.

There are potential improvers galore but HARRY THE HAGGLER can get off the mark at the sixth attempt.

LTO Selection:

17:45 Wetherby Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TANTALUS was four lengths clear of the third when runner-up at Catterick over 6f last time and, off the same mark with the addition of first-time cheekpieces, he looks to be the one to side with. Lola's Moment is considered on her return to action off the lowest mark yet in her young career to date, while Arnie Angell makes his first start for the David Griffiths stable and is also of interest.

Not a strong race, so TANTALUS, who was runner-up from the same mark at Catterick, looks to have been found a great chance to get off the mark. Al Najada and Rwenearlytheredad are not yet exposed and are a couple of potential threats.

With strong claims on recent form, TANTALUS could well open his account. Rwenearlytheredad is second choice.

18:00 Lingfield Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

PACKARD kept on well for second over this trip at Goodwood on his debut last month and the son of Mehmas left a strong impression that he could build on that here. Starlust is well related and should not be underestimated on his racecourse bow, while Point Of Attack and Give It Up are other newcomers who merit places on the shortlist.

POINT OF ATTACK certainly looks up to the job on paper being a six-figure yearling and a half-sister to 3 winners, so a winning debut would come as no surprise. Packard and Two Tribes are also of firm interest on the back of runner-up efforts.

Some interesting newcomers on show, especially Starlust, but PACKARD can confirm the promise of his Goodwood debut.

18:15 Wetherby Handicap (Class 6) 13f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

NATIONAL CHARTER hasn't been seen on the Flat since April last year, when she was a very respectable third at this track over 1m6f, and if she could bring that level of form to the table, the four-year-old could go very well. Glory And Honour is capable of getting involved off his current mark as he returns to the turf, while Absolute Ruler is another to consider.

ABSOLUTE RULER got it right at the second attempt over hurdles and now he's back in some sort of form he looks ready to cash in on what is a lowly Flat mark compared to what he used to be capable of. Ask Peter goes without headgear this time and is certainly in the right hands to bounce back, with Glory And Honour likely to be plugging on.

In what looks a weak handicap the well-handicapped CRAFTER is taken to win his first race for his present yard by beating Ask Peter.

LTO Selection:

18:30 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Only narrowly denied over C&D last Thursday, it is hard to oppose the progressive VICTORS DREAM off the same mark and Marco Botti's inmate is fancied to break his maiden at the sixth time of asking. Alainn Tu struggled over an extended 5f at Bath last month but is feared 3lb above her last winning mark, along with the unexposed Morboka on her handicap bow.

VICTORS DREAM is going the right way and lost out only on the nod over C&D last time, so he's selected to make it third time lucky in handicap company. Morboka and Imperiousity head the dangers.

Morboka is interesting now handicapping but VICTORS DREAM looked ahead of his mark when second over C&D last week.

LTO Selection:

18:45 Wetherby Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HUG A TREE finished third at Salisbury on debut and she should have learned a lot from that first race experience. The daughter of Mehmas could be the one to beat if finding some improvement. The main danger might be Hot Front, who is related to plenty of winners and has enough speed in her pedigree to suggest she can be competitive on debut. Any market support for Rocket Money would be interesting.

HUG A TREE caught the eye when a running-on third at Salisbury 10 days ago and can find the required improvement to beat Passionately, who ran to a decent level in a newcomers race at Chantilly. All 3 debutantes need keeping an eye on, notably the speedily-bred Hot Front.

The form choice appears to be PASSIONATELY, ahead of Hug A Tree. The three newcomers have good credentials.

LTO Selection:

19:00 Lingfield Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

DARK KESTREL returned to action with a bang at Doncaster last time, following gelding and wind operations. A mark of 80 could easily underestimate his potential ability and he could be one to follow through the handicap ranks. Lulworth Cove has to be respected on the back of her runner-up effort at Haydock and she could be dangerous off the same mark, while She's Centimental may be a player if bouncing back.

DARK KESTREL left his 2-y-o efforts well behind when making a winning reappearance in a Doncaster novice and, with the promise of better to come now handicapping, he will prove hard to beat if proving equally effective on polytrack. The main threat may be posed by Lulworth Cove, who progressed with each of her 3 starts as a juvenile and did so again when chasing home the in-form Radio Goo Goo on return at Haydock. She's Centimental and Sergeant Pep are others to consider.

Dark Kestrel has plenty of potential now handicapping but SHE'S CENTIMENTAL (nap) can bounce back to form returned to AW.

19:20 Wetherby Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SAIL ON SILVERBIRD chased home a couple of promising types when hitting the frame at Wolverhampton two weeks ago. She makes her handicap debut from a potentially lenient mark and, with the switch to turf unlikely to pose an issue, the daughter of Twirling Candy can open her account. Harriet's Angel split rivals in a three-runner contest at Ripon last month and must be of interest upped to 7f for the first time, while Sophia's Starlight appeals most of the remainder.

LILIKOI fared best of those held up when third in a deeper C&D handicap than this one 3 weeks ago so she has plenty to recommend her. Jazz Samba can be excused her Beverley run and she's a threat, along with Sophia's Starlight.

Handicap debutantes HARRIET'S ANGEL and Sail On Silverbird head the shortlist, with Sophia's Starlight third choice.

LTO Selection:

19:35 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Mary Of Modena made all to strike by just under a length last time at Windsor and she has been put up 4lb for that display, which may not be enough to prevent her from going well once again. However, a chance can be taken on SPARKED, who was caught wide last time over C&D. If she can bring the form of her penultimate run to the table, the four-year-old could be the one to beat, while Mick's Spirit completes the shortlist.

Last-time-out winners GRANDFATHER TOM and Mary of Modena both make plenty of appeal. The former got on top close home at Nottingham on Sunday and may well notch a fourth C&D victory if allowed to take his chance. Mary of Modena has yet to strike on the all-weather but she's clearly effective on this surface having finished a good third over 6f here on return in March. Best of the rest is Libertus, who hasn't fully fired in 2 starts so far this season but he's edging back down the weights.

Mary Of Modena is greatly respected but a short break could revive the fortunes of MICK'S SPIRIT and he is preferred.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

William Haggas has a good strike-rate at this venue and so it might be worth siding with OPERA LEGEND. The Night Of Thunder gelding raced exclusively over 7f across his three qualifying runs but, with a step up in trip likely to benefit, he can make a successful handicap bow. The hat-trick seeking Blue Yonder is feared most, while Captain Potter is also considered.

BLUE YONDER scored easily at Wolverhampton and could be good for the hat-trick. Opera Legend is very interesting making his handicap debut up in trip for a top yard, while Leading Company shaped well at Beverley and may have more races in him.

There could be even more to come from BLUE YONDER at this sort of distance. Opera Legend is feared most.

LTO Selection:

20:10 Lingfield Stakes (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

GREEK GIANT has raised his game when switched to handicaps in April. Dropped into a classified contest for the first time here, he's favoured on these terms and is taken to strike for the in-form Ed Dunlop team. Asense remains open to improvement and is interesting with talented apprentice Harry Davies aboard, while Alioski, whose latest success came at Southwell in November, should not be underestimated on his seasonal return.

GREEK GIANT still has relatively few miles on the clock and is favoured by these weights so can build on his recent Bath second and get off the mark. Asense made an encouraging return when sixth at Brighton and is next on the list ahead of the returning Alioski and handily-weighted Rushmore.

The most appealing option is GREEK GIANT who moves up in trip after a good effort in defeat last month and still has low mileage.

LTO Selection:

20:30 Wetherby Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

RED ASTAIRE seemed to appreciate a drop in trip when filling the runner-up spot over this distance at Redcar last month. Tim Easterby's four-year-old retains the mark from that outing and looks open to further progression here, although the reopposing Muddy Lynn (third) can give the selection plenty to think about. Ricksen returns to turf and completes the shortlist, along with Going Underground and Variety Island.

RED ASTAIRE responded really well for the fitting of cheekpieces when second at Redcar last week and has good claims from the same mark. Muddy Lynn was just behind him that day and has a race like this in her on that showing. Asmund is also worth a look.

The unexposed filly MUDDY LYNN is taken to reverse last week's Redcar form with Red Astaire. Magical Effect should also go well.

LTO Selection:

20:45 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GLENISTER showed the benefit of recent wind surgery when making all to win over 1m2f here three days ago. The gelded son of Gleneagles should continue to progress and, with similar tactics likely to be employed from stall one, he can shrug off a 5lb penalty. Lunar Shadow, who was narrowly denied at Chelmsford last month, appeals as his most likely danger, while Beautiful Crown completes the shortlist.

A few with chances but it's hard to side against Sir Mark Prescott's GLENISTER who resumed much improved on the back of breathing surgery when going in here only 3 days ago and can make light of a 5 lb penalty stepping back up in distance. In-form C&D winner Lunar Shadow looks the chief threat with course-scorers Waterloo Sunset and Socially Shady completing the shortlist.

Lunar Shadow looks good for another solid run but GLENISTER can defy a penalty for his Saturday win here now back at 1m4f.

LTO Selection:

21:00 Wetherby Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Thank The Lord finished a decent third over this trip at Bath last month and must enter calculations off the same mark, but JENEVER looks the one to beat following a fair second over 6f at Thirsk most recently. Ben Sanderson knocks 3lb off the gelding's back, which makes him of significant interest down in trip, while Golden Prosperity and Yaahobby are others worthy of consideration.

THANK THE LORD ran well back from another break at Bath recently and could be the way to go. Jenever and Autumn Flight are respected also.

With his Thirsk effort having major substance, JENEVER (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Rainbow Rain is second choice.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
