FAT SAM looked to be coming back to form with a two-length second over C&D earlier in the month. Although not expected to recapture past glories at the age of 11, he has won four times over fences, all of them off higher marks. Isocrate failed to build on his Warwick victory when a distant fourth at Uttoxeter, but a drop in class and first-time cheekpieces may see him get back to his best, leaving Dexter as another to consider upped in trip after his Uttoxeter second.

After going close this month, DEXTER (nap) can come good for his much respected new stable at the second attempt.

This can go the way of DODGE CITY, who has improved with each career outing and should be suited by going up to 7f for the first time. A mark of 79 on his nursery debut looks manageable and he may have too much for Senorita Vega, who drops back in grade after contesting the Albany at Royal Ascot last month, and Newmarket third Commander's Intent. Boiling Over and Kawthar are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

Preference is for BOILING OVER who was a good second two runs back before a below-par run last time. Dodge City is next best.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

An interesting renewal and one where Heroique De Maulde may prove popular after winning by two and a quarter lengths at Bangor after coming late from off the pace. An added 5lb makes his life tougher against in-form opposition, a comment that also applies to Fever Dream, upped 4lb for a recent C&D success. TIGER ORCHID could go close as a triple course and distance winner, the latest off 5lb higher in June 2024, and with first-time blinkers added. Sam Twiston-Davies rides for the Newland/Insole team and he looks the stable pick ahead of Scarlet O'Tara.

The suggestion is chasing debutant DEEP PURPLE, who won a point in spring 2024 and didn't hang about over hurdles for long.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content,

Trainer Andrew Balding is no stranger to first-time-out winners and ALLEGRESSE looks bred for the job, with his dam being a half-sister to St Leger scorer Eldar Eldarov. The son of Oasis Dream is likely to want further in time, but he may have enough on this occasion to see off fellow newcomer Erbil, who is related to a whole host of winners, many of which went well over this distance. A relatively promising fourth on debut at Newmarket last month, Sunset On Leros is entitled to improve for that effort, while Double Eagle is one to monitor for market support.

The vote goes to SUNSET ON LEROS, who ran well for a long way at Newmarket last month. That form has received a major boost since.

Back at the scene of her promising debut, the unexposed SILVER WRAITH (nap) looks particularly interesting. Jenever is second pick.

Dontcontradictme caught the eye when third at Market Rasen on his only start after weakening late on to miss out on second behind an odds-on winner. Frammy wasn't beaten far when fourth at Bangor in June and the fact that he has had wind surgery since makes him of interest, but MIDNIGHT PASS could be the one. A two-length second on debut over C&D to a Gordon Elliott-trained favourite who was landing her hat-trick, that form looks the best on offer in this field.

Top of the list is Market Rasen third DONTCONTRADICTME, who arguably has the most compelling form.

REIGNMAN produced a career-best effort when third on handicap debut at Kempton recently and a 1lb drop could prove lenient as he looks to build upon that effort. David Loughnane's charge can get off the mark at the fifth time of asking, with the capable Diddy Man looking best placed to chase him home. Ratafia has strong claims on his penultimate success at Yarmouth last month, whereas Jez Bomb has dropped back to his last winning mark.

PUBLISH shaped with plenty of promise when filling the runner-up spot at this venue earlier in the month and will have lots more to offer. With normal improvement, he will prove very hard to beat. Catullus showed considerable ability on his introduction when making the frame at Newmarket and is likely to take a step forward. Any market confidence behind newcomer Fahidi would be interesting.

The strongest form contenders are PUBLISH and Catullus, while Fahidi and The Joker are newcomers to note.

Having got the better of an easy subsequent winner over C&D earlier this month, SCINTILLANTE is likely to prove a warm order to follow up. Alastair Ralph's SCINTILLANTE won fairly comfortably over C&D three weeks ago, and the runner-up easily went one better here recently.

Cephalus has proved a useful servant on the Flat and he could go close if transferring his ability on this hurdles bow. However, all 10 of the six-year-old's career victories have been recorded on the all-weather and he has yet to score beyond 1m. With that in mind, WHATYOUWAITINGFOR rates as the most solid proposition after filling the runner-up spot twice at Stratford this month. Aslukgoes may give the selection most to think about if building on his second-placed reappearance over C&D.

It remains to be seen whether ASLUKGOES will return to the smart level he showed in bumpers but he could still be the answer to this.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content,

The small field and going may suit the Richard Hannon trained STEM, a nine-and-a-half length winner on debut on heavy ground at Newbury last September, but not seen since. Sent to the lead two furlongs out that day, he was in no danger from that point onwards and clearly looks the one to beat. Arabian Poet has been gelded since his Newmarket fourth which may bring enough improvement to see him challenging, while Blue Martini ought to handle the ground and is an interesting newcomer.

Back in calmer waters, THE CURSOR is preferred. The betting may well prove instructive as regards all the other runners.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

PENDRAGON could not have done it any easier over C&D last time out and a 9lb rise for that success may not be enough to prevent him from landing the four-timer. Sir Mark Prescott often does well with these types and the son of Camelot should have too much for handicap debutant Tarriance, who is taken to overturn form with Gravitas from their most recent clash over 1m4f at Doncaster. A respectable fourth on his first go over this trip at Ascot recently, Tremorgio cannot be ruled out either.

Another large rise in the weights may not stop PENDRAGON from completing a four-timer. Tarriance is second choice.

Katana's latest second-placed stable bow over C&D took a knock when the winner proved uncompetitive off an opening mark of 105 at Uttoxeter recently. Robert Stephens' inmate cannot be ruled out in this open affair, but he could be worth taking on with TILEHURST. The four-year-old found only a subsequent winner too strong on his hurdles debut over track and trip last month and a repeat may prove sufficient. Stable debutant Rock On Pedro would make more appeal over further, but he cannot be dismissed under the tutelage of Olly Murphy.

The suggestion is TILEHURST, who went down fighting over C&D on last month's hurdling debut and probably still has potential.

Wildfell has a 50% record (3-6) over 7f with wins at Southwell, Kempton and Lingfield on the all-weather and the five-year-old could get involved if improving for his return at Wolverhampton. Novello Lad won with plenty up his sleeve over shorter at Nottingham last time. However, a 5lb penalty and softer ground may find him out, so HIGHLAND OLLY gets the nod. Weakening over a mile when fourth at Pontefract in May, he has run well without winning on soft ground before and could do better dropping back a furlong.

This can go to ONE NIGHT THUNDER, who has shaped better on his last two starts, and is well suited by plenty of give in the ground.

Least exposed contender; rallying fourth over 1m last time; interesting back at 1m2f.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Runner-up on four of his six starts this season, Beach Point is expected to be thereabouts again, while Man Of Desert looks well worth another go at this distance after a creditable fourth over 1m at Yarmouth. However, a chance is taken with the returning BALTIC VOYAGE, who makes his first appearance for Marcus Tregoning after a spell over hurdles. The five-year-old appears to be fairly handicapped and may strike in an open event.

Nicely bred and unexposed, MAN OF DESERT appears to have a good opportunity to get off the mark. Beach Point is feared most.

CLAUDE might be able to take this on his debut over flights. From the family of dual 1,000 Guineas winner Finsceal Beo, he has failed to live up to market expectations in two starts to date. Now tried in first-time cheekpieces and getting weight allowances, it'll be disappointing if he's not involved towards the business end. Returning from a break, Crooked Tannie is the clear form choice. However, he's had plenty of opportunities to open his account over hurdles and was a beaten favourite four times last year. A good third on his debut for Gavin Cromwell at Downpatrick recently, Front Door Famous should be able to make his presence felt, while others for the shortlist in this weak affair are Complete Fiction and Hudson.

CROOKED TANNIE sets a decent standard and he may be able to get his head in front if fit on his return from a break

Placed on each of her two previous handicap outings in Ireland, the returning NUNC EST BIBENDUM looks like a shrewd recruit to the Gary & Josh Moore yard and she is fancied to break the maiden at the sixth time of asking. That may be at the main expense of narrow Windsor second Gloryous, although Pergola also looks dangerous, even after being hit with a 4lb rise for a last-gasp Epsom success on her handicap debut. Maundy Thursday and Tap Dancer may also have a say in proceedings.

The vote goes to MAUNDY THURSDAY with this drop back in distance a possible source of improvement. Pergola is second choice.

A good quality contest with MUMMY DERRY the selection. A half-sister to Spillane's Tower, she proved very easy to back and ran accordingly when tried in Grade 2 company on her debut over flights at Sandown in February. Given a break since and in much calmer waters now, it'll be disappointing if she's not involved towards the business end. With race fitness on her side, Zanoosh could prove the main danger. An encouraging fourth on her first try over timber, she since won a bumper but was a beaten favourite on her latest start. Returning from a lengthy absence, it'll be interesting to see how West End Victory fares on her debut for Sonny Carey. Gavin Cromwell saddles two leading hopes in the shape of Sophia Rose and Hillhead Runner, while Tequila Talkin' and Watching The Clock are others capable of making an impact.

There was plenty to like about how TEQUILA TALKIN' ran after a long absence at Listowel and she gets the vote upped in trip

FINE BY ME occupied the runner-up berth over track and trip earlier in the month and is just 1lb higher. Another chance is readily given to LYNESS DANCER, who was a very convincing winner on her stable debut and had excuses last time.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content,

Aidan O'Brien runs two newcomers in this maiden and riding arrangements indicate that MONTREAL is the stable pick. This son of Sea The Stars has a Group 2 entry in the Futurity Stakes at the Curragh next month. His stablemate, Pierre Bonnard, is a son of Camelot and, interestingly, holds that engagement in addition to a Group 1 National Stakes entry, so there is a lot to like on paper. Johnny Murtagh's Hanak could be a lively debutant as he boasts some useful relatives. Genchev outran his odds when third on debut at Naas and that run will stand to him, while South Island ran fifth in a good maiden at the Curragh and has big-race entries.

Balllydoyle newcomers Montreal and Pierre Bonnard may struggle to cop with GENCHEV, who was placed in a Listed race on debut

PROMISE TIME readily justified favouritism in 0-55 handicap at Carlisle in May before brushing aside a 9lb rise to score over C&D last month. Although a 7lb higher mark demands more on this occasion, this progressive three-year-old has bags of scope and is tough to resist with his hat-trick bid. Licence To Conquer was game when winning over 7f at Lingfield earlier in the month and is another improving type to bear in mind, dropped back a furlong. Haazeez and Dark Rosa are others for the shortlist.

Top of the list is PROMISE TIME (nap), who completed a double in good style over C&D last month and is open to more progress.

FANTASY WORLD revelled in a pacesetting role when he made all over 1m2f to break his maiden at Ffos Las and a mark of 82 could be workable for his first try in a handicap. Fellow three-year-old Minhad, who was flying high when pitched into the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, should find this level more accessible and is another appealing option with a weight-for-age allowance. Recent York winner Secret Beach and Charmaine are the pick of the older brigade.

With Hannah Phillips again on board, ROSE BOUM is the selection. Runner-up over C&D in May, the locally-trained five-year-old has since been guided by Phillips to a breakthrough win at Punchestown and has gone up just 3lb. A close third in that Punchestown heat, it'll come as no surprise if the Philip Rothwell-trained Warm In Gorey manages to at least close the gap. The Co Wicklow handler is also represented by To The Wire, with this unexposed point-to-point winner capable of making an impact. Placed five times since a surprise win on debut, Mi Lucky Cailin is another for the shortlist, while Ladiam and Knockraha Eagle are others sure to have plenty of supporters in this competitive affair.

There wasn't much between Rose Boum and WARM IN GOREY at Punchestown and the latter may be able to reverse the form on these terms

GORDON GREY has been in fine fettle in both codes of late and is likely to prove a warm order to follow up his 11-length romp at Epsom. A 5lb penalty for the five-year-old looks far from insurmountable and a sixth career victory could be imminent. The biggest threat may emerge from Fast Steps, who arrives here in better heart than most. Vaynor may fare best of the remainder with his sights lowered.

Gordon Grey, Azahara Palace and Alazwar need considering but FAST STEPS likes it here and Patrick Millman knows him well.

TEEWINOT showed that there is plenty to work with when fourth on debut at Fairyhouse. She put in good late work to be beaten two-and-a-half lengths by the winner and, granted normal improvement, should be heavily involved. Amerilis receives 4lb from Teewinot and that gives her a good chance. She came home sixth on her first start in a fillies' maiden at the Curragh and the form has been well franked by several of the horses in front of her. Spinning Around is a nicely-bred sort who ought to take a step forward after her debut fifth at Roscommon.

Preference is for AMERILIS as the Curragh maiden she ran in was a strong race and she gets a handy 4lb from Teewinot.

Dorney Lake is C&D winner with claims, while the hat-trick seeking Tiger Tulip has an obvious chance on her much improved recent form. However, this is highly competitive and cases can be made for several others, not least SENSORIUM. The lightly-raced three-year-old has tons of scope for progression in handicaps and is very dangerous to ignore on his return. Bishop's Crown wasn't beaten far into third at Windsor on Monday and is also noteworthy with blinkers added.

Having impressed at Leicester this month, EXPRESS TRAIN may have been let in lightly for this handicap debut.

A competitive affair, with SMALL TOWN HERO the suggestion. On his first start for Ian Donoghue, the five-year-old made all at Roscommon earlier this month and might still be ahead of the handicapper off a revised mark of 81. The first-time cheekpieces that were fitted at Roscommon remain in place, with Conor Stone-Walsh again taking the ride. In truth, a case can be made for many others, with the locally-trained Hatfield Hammer sure to have plenty of supporters. No worse than third on his last five starts, another bold bid can be expected from this previous course winner. An encouraging third on her debut for Sam Curling at Downpatrick, it'll come as no surprise if Fire Coral manages to go a few places better. Ballerina Boxer, Lummi Island, Onefortheditch and handicap debutant Sylvia's Secret are others for the shortlist.

FIRE CORAL ran a nice race on debut for Sam Curling 10 days ago and this longer trip is going to suit on the evidence of that effort

Darkwing is a fascinating newcomer but CRYSTAL PIER holds strong claims on her encouraging debut over C&D and can open her account.

COMPOSING benefited from her debut performance at the Curragh when stepped up to 7f at the same venue and duly obliging. Aidan O'Brien's filly is likely to have further improvement to come and has a fine opportunity to deliver up in class. Skydance may not have a '1' beside her name, but her third place in a Group 2 at the Curragh is strong form. There has been plenty of rain over Leopardstown and Brownstown is proven on soft ground courtesy of a victory in a fillies' maiden over a similar trip at this track.

Gavin Cromwell's BROWNSTOWN was a debut C&D winner after picking up experience in a Naas trial. He is just preferred to Composing

A MAJOR PAYNE was unlucky in that the saddle slipped when he was making headway at Sandown so his eventual second-placed finish was commendable. Jimmy Speaking and Mostawaa are other strong contenders, while Lunar Orbit is an unexposed three-year-old with the potential to figure too.

The 4yo JIMMY SPEAKING is a good starting point as he arrives here on the back of three competitive efforts at 1m.

This is undoubtedly weaker than the first division, with a chance taken on ROYAL CAVE. A final-flight faller when looking set to score at Fairyhouse in October, the Chris Timmons-trained six-year-old has lost her way since. Back over flights for the first time since April and given a pipe-opener on the level at Dundalk recently, she could return to form in a contest of this quality. Runner-up on his penultimate start at Listowel, Tackletommywoowoo was beaten when falling at the last at Kilbeggan subsequently. Provided he's none the worse for that mishap, he should be able to make an impact. Starting off in handicap company, Captain P is of definite interest with Danny Gilligan aboard. Others for the shortlist are Stellar Symphony, Phildante, Technology and Derby Rock.

Although back up to a career-high mark STELLAR SYMPHONY (nap) holds strong claims on her Cork second to a well-handicapped sort

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content,

FLUSHING MEADOWS just failed by a short head in a Group 3 over a shorter trip in the Curragh and ought to relish this extended 7f. He was a good winner of his maiden in the Curragh and has a whole range of big-race options. North Coast hacked up in a Down Royal maiden and then finished second in Listed company over 1m in Naas, so he's definitely a worthy opponent. Adrian Murray fields the other two colts in newcomer Prospect Thunder and twice-raced Flanker Jet (who was well behind North Coast in sixth at Naas). The former must be well regarded to be starting his career in a Group 3.

An expensive loser at 2-9 in the Anglesey Stakes, FLUSHING MEADOWS\b should make amends by confirming debut form with \bNorth Coast

Although not at his best on the all-weather last time, a chance can be taken on RACINGBREAKS RYDER. Charlie Hills' charge will undoubtedly relish testing conditions and is still on a competitive mark. His previous performance, when beaten a short head by the progressive Nariko at Goodwood, reads extremely well and he might provide some value. El Bodon kept on well into second over 6f at Chester and is interesting now stepped up in trip. Others to note include Mister Bluebird and top-weight Dosman.

Preference is for MISTER BLUEBIRD who gave the highly progressive Alzahir a race at Epsom last time.

With course-winning form to his name, SPLENDID CHOICE is the selection in this weak affair. Not beaten far when fifth on his most recent visit to the venue, he'll again be ridden by Tiernan Power Roche, who claims a valuable 5lb. Runner-up on two of his last three starts, Sharetheknowledge could manage only fourth when sent off favourite at Limerick in May. Dropping in trip and with Darragh O'Keeffe again on board, it'll be disappointing if he's not involved towards the business end. A long-time maiden but a fine second on her debut for Aengus King at Cork recently, Chosen Shant warrants respect, while others for the shortlist are The Border Boy and the returning Cruisin Susan.

The locally-trained KATE ILL KNOW can score off a 3lb higher mark than winning over C&D last summer

ONEMOREDANCE is proven on slower ground and has a shot at the hat-trick. She runs under the 7lb penalty for winning over C&D last week and has certainly hit a rich vein of form in winning three of her last five races. There is pace in this race and it could set up nicely for Refreshment, who came from well back to strike at this track and at Cork in June. He has never raced over 1m1f before, but looks worth a shot at it the way he finished off those aforementioned races. Dancing Teapot has plenty of form to be a threat if handling cut in the ground, while Alice Monet was a runaway winner in Fairyhouse but that was in claiming company.

A chance is taken on DANCING TEAPOT to bounce back from an ordinary run in a much stronger race at Royal Ascot.

A confident vote goes to KITTY FOYLE. Daisy Hitchins' mare was narrowly defeated by an in-form rival over C&D last month and given that she is able to compete from an unchanged mark, she should be capable of going one place better. Captain Brett has been in fine form himself, though, and he could mount a stern challenge. Market support for handicap debutant Cheshire Belle, who takes a marked step up in trip, would be noteworthy.

Kitty Foyle narrowly failed to nab a subsequent winner over C&D last time but DEEP WATER BAY retains potential and gets the vote.

The vote goes to SOLAR ACLAIM, who was able to record an impressive win at Chester last month. An 8lb rise doesn't look harsh given the manner of victory and, with an ability to handle softening ground conditions, he can go well again. Jer Batt wasn't disgraced when sent off favourite for the Dash at Epsom so is respected from 2lb lower. Nazron was slightly unfortunate on the Roodee latest and should not be overlooked, while Existent is more than likely to be on the premises.

There's a lot to like about JER BATT (nap) who has the form to feature (including on soft) and he's had excuses the last twice.

Pleasureofpressure was fourth to the selection when last seen and could get a lot closer with a swing in the weights. A winner at Down Royal in May before disappointing on his latest start at Limerick, Quinn The Eskimo might bounce back with Eoin Staples claiming a valuable 7lb. Kaikoura brings further course form to the table, with this Philip Dempsey-trained bay a good third on his most recent start.

Waldgeist filly FLORESTA is going the right way after drawing nicely clear over an extended 1m3f in Limerick. She ought to appreciate this staying test. Mister Adam used every yard of 1m4f to get up by a short head at this venue in May and has to come under consideration. Red King looked like a winner in waiting when he travelled into the lead at Navan. He was outgunned inside the final furlong, though, and a tongue-strap and cheekpieces are reached for. Fervent showed an aptitude for Fairyhouse in clocking up a pair of victories there in June and shouldn't be underestimated, while Marazion and C&D winner Happy Pharoah are far from out of contention.

MARAZION is the most interesting in this, having been beaten only 5l by the subsequently Group 2-placed Galveston last time.

Dropping in trip worked the oracle for SHADY BAY, who bounded clear to record a five-length success under Alec Voikhansky at Nottingham. Tom Ward's filly was hit with a 6lb rise for that performance, but it may well prove lenient. Finn Russell struggled over hurdles latest, but he will appreciate a return to the level and is respected along with Premier, who arrives having finished a creditable third at Sandown last month.

The shrewd connections of LIGHTNING TOUCH clearly feel it's worth persevering and she earns the vote on this handicap debut.

Slight preference is for TRYFAN, who travelled like the winner through much of the Northumberland Vase before being worn down late. Dropping back to 1m6f should suit ideally and he is narrowly preferred to Pole Star, who has won two of his last three and has been raised 5lb for his most recent success at Haydock. King's Scholar is better than he showed at Hamilton latest, while Who's Glen attempts to bounce back to the form that saw him finish fifth in the Chester Cup.

This is highly competitive but MILLER SPIRIT looks interesting back on soft ground and he gets the vote ahead of Tryfan.

Completely tailed off at Clonmel, it was subsequently reported that ALASKAN VIEW had blood in her mouth post-race having bitten her tongue. Prior to that effort, the locally-trained five-year-old had shown a decent level of ability and, if recapturing her best form, she can be expected to go close. Coming from the point-to-point fields, Mistyburn and Kershaw are both of interest. The former is out of six-time winner Queen Althea and joined Philip Rothwell after winning at Necarne in May, while the latter was a good second on his sole start to date at Loughanmore. Kool Runnings, Governors Rock and Bradley's Row are also respected.

Alaskan View has the best form but isn't progressing and is taken on here by KOOL RUNNINGS

Darragh O'Sullivan's 7lb claim has MAKAIAH on an attractive mark for this staying test. She is effectively racing off 60 and that is just 2lb higher than when she won at Navan in May. Soft ground holds no fears for her. Jockey Robert Whearty is having a very good season and The Truant, in a first-time visor, can get in the mix. Make Good cruised home by almost 10 lengths at Tramore and is likely to be popular off 8lb higher. Bottom-weight Ranting And Raven would be a player if handling slower ground, while Open To Question is unexposed on the Flat and could get involved.

Former Grade 2 hurdle winner MAKE GOOD (nap) produced a lively front-running performance to win at Tramore and may defy an 8lb rise

GINCIDENT gamely stuck his neck out to beat a subsequent scorer at Beverley and the five-year-old, who has been a model of consistency this season, is taken to go in again off 3lb higher. Back to winning ways over this distance at Wetherby last month, Brasil Power must enter calculations, along with Claymore, who drops in trip having struck over 1m4f at Newmarket. Others to note include Andaleep, I Still Have Faith and Wave Rider.

The sole 3yo in the field is WAVE RIDER, who impressed in a maiden at Sandown last month and can follow up now back in a handicap.
