There were 35 Races on Wednesday 20th August 2025 across 5 meetings. There was 7 races at York, 6 races at Carlisle, 7 races at Worcester, 7 races at Sligo, 8 races at Kempton, no doubt Tomform helped you find a winner.
The data in the racecards below is for the past year. View the racecard key.
Class & Speed Card

The Man returned to the fray with an impressive display over 5f at the Dante meeting, while Trefor finished a fine second at Windsor and may also feature. Vintage Clarets landed the Shergar Cup Dash in good style last time, but could only manage eighth in this last year behind the runner-up JORDAN ELECTRICS. Jim Goldie's sprinter found the smart Jm Jungle too good on that occasion and another bold bid looks likely with a couple of recent runs under his belt. Brazen Bolt and Squealer are others to consider.

New cheekpieces could give Vantheman a lift and he is second choice but BRAZEN BOLT is preferred in his hat-trick bid.
Class & Speed Card

Although GWEN JOHN has to give 4lb to all of her rivals here, with the William Haggas yard in good form she is hard to oppose. Second on her debut at Windsor, she went one better last week at the same track when winning by a length, only needing to be pushed out for victory. Harry Burns claims 3lb from the saddle here and they could prove too good for Pontefract third Lily Pearl and interesting newcomer Rogue Citation.

Top of the list is GWEN JOHN, who won in good style at Windsor last week and can strike again under a penalty to make it 2-3.
Class & Speed Card

Italy separated a couple of Godolphin runners when finishing a creditable second in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. That form should give Charlie Appleby a good handle on the chances of DISTANT STORM and the latter could prove the one to side with. The son of Night Of Thunder beat a couple of subsequent winners when making a winning debut in a hot maiden at Newmarket and can take this step up in class in his stride. Goodwood Galaxy's fourth in the Vintage Stakes can be marked up as he missed the break, while May Angel is another to note.

Goodwood Galaxy was a Group 2 fourth at Goodwood but preference is still for DISTANT STORM and Italy.
Class & Speed Card

Trainer Bryan Smart has won three of the last eight runnings of this race and has a lively contender once more in SOLE SPIRIT, who has won both races this season since being gelded. Promise Time has a 6lb penalty for a narrow victory but he was value for more after a troubled passage and he looks a huge danger, leaving Tarlac for the minor placing.

This should revolve around the two progressive geldings Promise Time and SOLE SPIRIT, with slight preference for the latter.
Class & Speed Card

Aidan O'Brien has won the last two renewals and LAMBOURN looks set to retain the prize for the Ballydoyle handler. The Derby winner was less impressive when landing the Irish equivalent at the Curragh, but will be fresher for this and is difficult to oppose, despite a 5lb penalty. Pride Of Arras has been gelded after a couple of poor displays behind the selection. He won the Dante on the Knavesmire in fine style back in May and could launch a challenge if returning to that level, while the progressive Carmers won the Queen's Vase at Ascot and is preferred to Arabian Force.

Dual Derby hero LAMBOURN is odds-on but it's a field packed with interest. Carmers is the most plausible threat.
Class & Speed Card

A confident vote goes to unexposed three-year-old SIDNEY STRATTON. Having made little impact in novice/maiden company, the King Of Change gelding took a big leap forward to finish second on his handicap bow over C&D last month. Returning to a sounder surface should suit and he can go one place better. Rosso Levanto caught the eye in a selling handicap at Beverley and appeals as one of the likelier candidates, while the well-handicapped Educate heads the remainder.

The vote goes to Micky Hammond's lightly raced SIDNEY STRATTON who can build on an improved C&D second last month to get off the mark.
Class & Speed Card

This year's renewal might be short on numbers but there is no doubting the quality on show, and OMBUDSMAN is fancied to get his revenge having been touched off by Delacroix in the Eclipse last month. Although arguably worth more than the winning margin would suggest that day, the Gosdens' colt is now 3lb better off. His Prince Of Wales' triumph still lives fresh in the memory and if returning to that level of form, he could prove a tough nut to crack. Japanese raider Danon Decile was last seen defeating the classy Calandagan in the Sheema Classic so he merits plenty of respect, while the unbeaten Daryz can't be overlooked either.

Preference is for DELACROIX, such was the impression he made in coming from last to first at Sandown. Danon Decile is feared most.
Class & Speed Card

MASTER RICHARD made virtually every yard of the running when successful by a length in this class at Southwell last month and is just 4lb higher. As long as the six-year-old transfers that form to turf, he will prove hard to beat. Paws For Thought showed more when second at Haydock earlier in the month and should remain competitive with David Nolan taking over in the plate. Count Palatine completes the shortlist.

The vote goes to MASTER RICHARD, who got back on the scoresheet when making all at Southwell and a 4lb rise that success looks fair.
Class & Speed Card

Last year's Cesarewitch hero Alphonse Le Grande wasn't beaten far into eight in the Ascot Stakes last time out and is entitled to plenty of respect from an unchanged mark, as is Dancing In Paris, who hit the woodwork in a similar contest at Goodwood latest. That being said, a chance can be taken on TERRORISE. This is undoubtedly tougher than last month's C&D triumph, especially now 8lb higher. However, he is completely unexposed over staying trips on the Flat and may have much more in the locker.

After the traffic problems at Royal Ascot, ALPHONSE LE GRANDE can gain some compensation. Terrorise is feared most.
Class & Speed Card

Patricia R made a winning debut at Thirsk prior to producing another good effort when second at Doncaster and she is likely to be on the premises. However, CRYSTAL DAGGER shaped with bundles of promise to fill the runner-up spot on her introduction at Redcar last month and would have learnt a great deal from that experience. Elizabeth Bay isn't out of it either.

Three of these are closely matched on the figures but CRYSTAL DAGGER gets the vote ahead of Patricia R and Elizabeth Bay.
Class & Speed Card

SARAHMAE travels over from Ireland after a comfortable victory at the Curragh recently and although she has a lot more to do here, a fast-run five furlongs could see her finishing her race better than most. Luna A Inbhir Nis won here at the end of July when holding on narrowly to score by a neck but she has 5lb more here in better company which makes her task more difficult, so Galaxy Zoo is preferred as the main threat after coming from off the pace to win comfortably at Ascot.

The prolific and speedy LUNA A INBHIR NIS (nap) won here last time and is the selection ahead of Mademoiselle then Lady Roxby.
Class & Speed Card

Nevendon did well to finish as close as he did when third at Newton Abbot last month after a bad mistake at the first fence, and a clear round could see him challenging. ROCKS UP LATE wasn't at his best when pulled up at Market Rasen but is worth another chance after winning his previous three starts over fences comfortably. Boom Boom, who arrives at the top of his game after a pair of victories at Stratford, is another to respect.

3-3 over fences before last month's tame finishing effort, ROCKS UP LATE can resume his progress if all is well today.
Class & Speed Card

OPERATION GIMCRACK has taken the silver medal home in two of his last three appearances, most recently at Doncaster, and he remains on an appealing mark. Bryan Smart's five-year-old looks to have found a suitable opportunity to gain his first career success. Tootsie finished a close third over a mile at Redcar earlier in the month and should mount a serious challenge, while Miss Cast is another to note.

This can go to TOOTSIE (nap) who enjoyed far from a trouble-free run when third at Redcar and can gain compensation off the same mark
Class & Speed Card

This could be a good opportunity for Gordon Elliott's WHISPERING HOPES to get off the mark. She has been interspersing hurdling with racing on the Flat, and her second place in a mares' maiden hurdle over a similar trip at this track almost two weeks ago merits plenty of respect. Gavin Cromwell's Hillhead Runner is rated 3lb superior to Whispering Hopes, but has to give her 8lb under the conditions of this race. She has been placed in two of her last three races over flights and ought to be right in the mix. Walk In The Park filly Glitz And Glamour has the chance of a cheque, while Cromwell's newcomer Wings Of Eve should be given a market check.

Gordon Elliott's runner WHISPERING HOPES may exploit the 8lb concession from bumper winner Hillhead Runner
Class & Speed Card

HOUDINI MISS has solid claims having shown a big improvement at Southwell on her nursery debut. Beaten only a neck on that occasion, the daughter of Starman looks on a workable mark with first-time cheekpieces bringing the possibility of further progress. Project Incheon led for a long way in maiden at Newcastle before fading in the closing stages and may settle better having been subsequently gelded, while Maynora drops in trip with a shout.

Fanjove looks a likely big improver upped in trip for his nursery debut but MALINGA THE SLINGA can benefit from a drop in trip.
Class & Speed Card

Trainer Richard Fahey has won this three times in the last 10 years and he relies on UTMOST RESPECT. The son of Invincible Spirit got off the mark at the third attempt with an easy win at Hamilton, when coming from off the pace, and a mark of 87 looks fair enough. Dublin Bay is looking for his hat-trick but an added 10lb makes his life difficult, while Old Is Gold and Temple Of Athena are others to consider.

This is very competitive but the ease with which DUBLIN BAY came clear at Doncaster suggests he could be well in even after a 10lb rise.
Class & Speed Card

Tiger Orchid has an outstanding record here with five victories, two in bumpers and three over C&D, the latest in June last year off 1lb higher. He can go well but conceding 4lb to DEEP PURPLE appears a big ask. Fourth on his chasing debut here, he can only improve for that outing. The Bold Thady and My Gift To You are others to consider.

My Gift To You beat Tiger Orchid here last month but back in fourth was DEEP PURPLE who shaped okay on his chase debut.
Class & Speed Card

TEA IT IS may have a lowly rating of 75, but she has been placed in her last couple of handicaps and represents an in-form stable. She could exploit her light weight in this contest. Shing Shilla showed much more in a first-time hood when third at this track earlier in the month so can get involved. Surviving Murmansk made the breakthrough at the 40th time of asking at Tramore last weekend. Backing that up under the mandatory 7lb penalty three days later is far from a given, but he is one of the more likely contenders. Nashville Notions scored here in June, but the form hasn't been franked so she could be vulnerable off top weight.

A good opportunity for TEA IT IS whose chance of an overdue first win is signposted by placed efforts at Cork and Ballinrobe
Class & Speed Card

Ralph Beckett won this with the subsequent Sussex Stakes hero Qirat in 2023 and TIERRA DEL TORO arrives with every chance. The son of Lope De Vega caught the eye in a decent novice race at Southwell, finishing with a late flourish to take second, and looks capable of winning at this level on that evidence. Luzon Heights would have finished closer at Haydock with clear run and is going the right way, while the newcomer Augustus Gloop is worth a second look.

This can go to TIERRA DEL TORO who should take plenty of beating after making a promising debut at Southwell recently.
Class & Speed Card

Mikhailovich is one to watch on his return to action after 14 months off since winning over fences at Market Rasen, and he could go well off a favourable hurdles mark. MR LE PHILOSOPHE looks a more sensible option after wins here and at Stratford over shorter, though an added 7lb from the handicapper does mean he will need to improve again. Jullou De Grissay is another of interest if the first-time visor helps.

It was a Class 4 in which TROPICAL SPEED was heavily involved at Uttoxeter and he can be another winner for Sean Bowen.
Class & Speed Card

COCOVIC wouldn't be winning out of turn having posted runner-up berths at Kilbeggan and Killarney over the summer. He is a point-to-point winner and was only denied a first racecourse success when caught close home in Killarney. Sophia Rose looks the danger, particularly as she is only rated 2lb inferior and has a nice pull in the weights when including the 7lb claim of Eoin Staples. She is lightly raced and although her best form has been over shorter, this trip shouldn't be an issue in a small field. Newcomer Ballykeel Girl is a full-sister to a maiden hurdle runner-up in Britain so is worth a look.

A weak maiden. COCOVIC (nap) proved his stamina at Killarney last time and rates a more solid proposition than Sophia Rose
Class & Speed Card

There is little between fourth-placed Chapter and Robert Anstruther (fifth) on last month's running at Sandown. The former is taken to confirm superiority, but a chance is taken on MOGBBEL. The latter took a step forward when fourth in maiden company at Ffos Las and offers the prospect of further improvement representing Owen Burrows' in-form yard. Elashgar is a half-brother to a Group 3 winner and is a newcomer to note.

Elashgar is interesting on debut but MOGBBEL, who ran well at Ffos Las last time, is taken to get off the mark.
Class & Speed Card

SERVICE MINIMUM failed to supplement her success at Ludlow when filling the runner-up spot at Uttoxeter in May, but she could have a lot more to offer and the daughter of Doctor Dino may take a step forward to make it two wins from three starts over timber. High Fibre occupied the runner-up berth in a decent handicap in June and he is likely to prove popular after undergoing a wind operation. Tamarind Bay is another to consider.

High Fibre should threaten under a penalty but TAMARIND BAY arguably has the best form credentials.
Class & Speed Card

It is more than a year since INFLUENTIAL LADY last tasted success, but she competes off a handy mark with Kieran Callaghan taking 5lb off and she signalled that an eighth career victory may not be far away with a third in Kilbeggan and a runner-up spot at Wexford. Sydney Cruiser is a long-standing maiden, but it is reasonable to suggest there is one of these races in her after two placed efforts in Ballinrobe. Juke Box Rock showed ability when staying on in fourth at Clonmel last October, although he hasn't been out since. Watching The Clock could show up well on her handicap debut.

Four-year-old filly WATCHING THE CLOCK gets a speculative vote in her first handicap. Veteran mare Influential Lady could go close
Class & Speed Card

A confident vote goes to LOBLOLLY. Sean Woods' colt finished a narrow second to a rival that has since been given an opening mark of 91, whilst conceding 2lb, at Chelmsford last time out. Pitched into nurseries from what could be a lenient mark, he can open his account. Royal Bodyguard kept on into third over 7f at Newmarket latest so a step up to the mile is likely to suit, while Steel Drum appeals most of the remaining duo.

Royal Bodyguard is respected but STEEL DRUM shaped well on his handicap debut before encountering heavy ground at Goodwood.
Class & Speed Card

JUST A HEARTBEAT showed ability when only finding one too good on her first start over hurdles at Fontwell in May and is likely to have more to come. Harry Fry's mare might not need to improve a great deal in order to get off the mark. Lipstick Traces finished second on two of her three bumper outings and, with Brian Hughes booked, she needs to be considered. Chips And Rice is another to keep an eye on.

Just A Heartbeat is respected but NEVER TOLD ME can give Fergal O'Brien a win in the race that celebrates his birthday.
Class & Speed Card

GRANGE WALK didn't run badly in second when reverting to flights at this track earlier in the month. He had been mainly chasing since February and could do some damage in this grade. Eoin Staples has struck up a good association with Ballykinlar, who is gunning for a hat-trick. He is up another 8lb, but has to be feared as he was a comfortable winner on his last start at this venue. Moonovercloon won this race two years ago and certainly has the ability to be heavily involved. Tomas O Maille is holding his form well and, despite finding it hard to win, is in the running for another cheque.

It may pay to take a chance on SIGN FROM ABOVE, who has been showing a fair standard of form in staying handicaps on the Flat
Class & Speed Card

Returning to an artificial surface was of clear benefit to RUN WITH IT, who ultimately recorded a comfortable success at Wolverhampton recently. Both of his career wins have been on the Tapeta but switching to Polytrack shouldn't be an issue and, if that is the case, a 6lb penalty should not prevent another big run. Rhapsody switches to handicaps having struggled in a couple of Listed events and should not be underestimated, along with Newcastle runner-up Rogue Encore.

Ralph Beckett's RUN WITH IT (nap) got back on the up when scoring at Wolverhampton and is taken to defy a 6lb penalty here.
Class & Speed Card

Having shaped with some encouragement following a 660-day layoff here last month, any improvement could enable ROGUE MISSION to open his account in this discipline. Champion jockey Sean Bowen retains the ride on the six-year-old and the reapplication of cheekpieces may prove fruitful. Joe Tickle has his string in fine fettle at present and market support for handicap debutant Locked Down Lad would be interesting, while Kaproyale may appreciate this drop in trip.

After returning from a long absence with a reasonably encouraging stable debut over C&D last month, ROGUE MISSION is selected.
Class & Speed Card

THE LITTLE YANK, who is an 88-race veteran, could land this winnable race. He has visited Sligo just four times, but has shown a fondness for the venue in winning twice - once over flights and once over fences. He showed that there is still plenty of fire in his belly when delivering over hurdles at Kilbeggan in June. Themanintheboots is edging down the weights and has winning form over a staying trip in Perth. Tango Theatre filled the runner-up berth on her last two appearances at Kilbeggan and Bangor and is a contender, although she has never got her head in front on the racetrack before. Back The West caught the eye in fourth at Ballinrobe and isn't out of it.

An open-looking handicap. BALLYGLASS BEAUTY goes well over this C&D and can register a second course win
Class & Speed Card

Second on both of her starts to date, including when a short-priced favourite at Windsor latest, FINALISE can belatedly break her maiden tag. The daughter of Masar has done little wrong so far and stepping up to 1m4f could hold the key to her. Gnomon (second) finished ahead of The Bellhop (third) at Lingfield last month and is fancied to confirm his superiority over that rival, while market support for the returning Shrimp Shady, who won at Windsor when last seen in September, would be noteworthy.

An absence and a penalty are potential stumbling blocks for SHRIMP SHADY but he has the strongest form and this trip should suit well.
Class & Speed Card

Although thwarted in his hat-trick bid at Stratford 38 days ago, G'day Aussie lost little in defeat that day when a neck second. A 2lb rise in the ratings for the veteran shouldn't prevent another bold bid, but there is a sneaking suspicion that we've yet to see the best from KOPA KILANA. Olly Murphy's charge looked to find the 2m distance an inadequate test when third here last month and, reverting to 2m4f, he could step up. Last-time-out winners Pacific and Orange Diamond add further spice to the race.

7yo ORANGE DIAMOND (nap) could still be well handicapped after last month's winning stable debut here and gets the nod
Class & Speed Card

Ribchester filly TALAS KERA might be the answer to a trappy bumper. There was promise in her opening fourth at Wexford and the runner-up boosted the form when winning at Tramore last Friday. Not So Serious went off joint-favourite on debut at Kilbeggan, so has to come into the reckoning. He came home in mid-division, but doubtless there is much more to come from him. Mr Master Mac is entitled to come on from a third place in Roscommon and avails of John Gleeson's assistance again, while Bells Grove is a debutant well worth checking for market strength.

Andy Slattery has a good team of bumper horses and NOT SO SERIOUS is taken to build on a promising Kilbeggan debut effort
Class & Speed Card

The combination of a wind procedure and switch to handicaps worked the oracle for I'M WORKIN ON IT, who opened his account over C&D a fortnight ago in ready fashion. Rod Millman's charge scored with enough in hand to suggest that an 8lb rise from the assessor is workable and he's taken to follow up. Reopposing runner-up Token Gesture is 7lb better off with the selection and is feared most, ahead of stable debutant Happy To Fly.

I'm Workin On It is second choice having won well over C&D last time but a chance is taken on SOLDIERS STAR on his return to AW.
Class & Speed Card

The application of first-time blinkers saw an improved bid from AMOR CORDIS when finishing third at Brighton last month. The son of Havana Gold makes plenty of appeal racing off an unchanged mark and a breakthrough victory may beckon. Having shaped encouragingly on his latest third over C&D, Lexington Jet is a feasible alternative, while Moby Quick should prove more competitive reverting to a sounder surface.

Silca Bay has posted his two best efforts here and is respected but TAKTEEK is preferred now dropping down to 7f.
Ths is the racecard key.
