Zachary

3.33/1(-11%)
(6) Zachary 3.33/1, Displayed plenty of early speed before running out of steam when third in 4-runner Musselburgh novice (5f) on debut in May. Not built on that in 2 starts since but gelded ahead of switch to handicaps and no surprise to see a better showing.
Unexposed nursery newcomer and he's one to keep an eye on for in-form yard.

4th (3) Search (4.5/1 +40%)
Search

4.5/1(+40%)
(3) Search 4.5/1, Proved game when off the mark in a 6f maiden on third start here in June. Gelded after but well held both starts in nurseries, beaten over 1f out and eased off when last of 11 at Leicester (7f) 8 days ago.

(7) Flemish 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Hooded for 1st time, sixth of 9 in nursery at Bath (5f, good, 9/1) 12 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter.

Justahunch

4.5/1(-50%)
(2) Justahunch 4.5/1, Better for debut when fourth in 10-runner Windsor maiden (5.1f) in June. Unable to match that level at Lingfield subsequently but blinkers go on for nursery bow and better showing certainly not ruled out.
Gelded and switches to a nursery but he needs improvement; blinkers added.

Vidi Vici

9/1(-13%)
(5) Vidi Vici 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifth of 7 in nursery (4/1) at Windsor (6f, good) 7 days ago. No forlorn hope if blinkers have positive effect now.

14:05 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Not many of these have shown anything by way of recent form, but it may pay to side with JUSTAHUNCH, who at least displayed promise on his first two starts before disappointing at Lingfield last month. He can strike on his nursery debut off a mark of 62, with Zachary and the capable Vidi Vici looking best placed to chase him home. Raft Up is also entitled to be thereabouts.

Having shown bright speed for a long way on debut at Musselburgh, ZACHARY failed to build on that in 2 subsequent outings but he did have some excuses and, now handicapping on the back of being gelded, it would come as no surprise to see him make more of an impact from a lowly mark. Justahunch and Vidi Vici, both fitted with first-time blinkers, are others to consider in a trappy opener.

This looks very tricky and the tentative vote goes to JUSTAHUNCH, who looks a possible improver back at 5f on his nursery debut.

LTO Selection:

14:25 Catterick Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

There has been little stopping LET HER LOOSE in recent months, with the six-year-old making it three wins from her last four starts at Ayr on Thursday, and Archie Watson's mare could prove tough to stop once again, despite a 5lb penalty. Jamil is a four-time C&D winner who went very close to enhancing that record here earlier this month and another bold bid is expected. Just Hiss and A La Francaise are others capable of being in the mix.

A LA FRANCAISE has been knocking on the door lately and might prove the answer to this competitive opener. Last week's Ayr scorer Let Her Loose and C&D specialist Jamil are likely to be on the premises, while The Dancing Poet's very good record in this race also earns him a place on the shortlist.

Top of the list is JAMIL, who likes it here and has run well over C&D on his last three starts. A La Francaise is second choice.

Paternoster Square

(3) Paternoster Square 3.33/1, Lightly-raced gelding. Creditable third of 14 in maiden at Windsor (10f, good, 9/4) 28 days ago. Back down in trip but can't be ruled out.

80-1 at Chelmsford (1m) on her debut last month and finished a tailed-off last of 13.
LTO Selection:

14:40 Brighton Maiden (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This can go the way of FLY ZONE, who sets the standard on form, having finished behind a subsequent Group 3 winner when second on his penultimate start at York. A respectable third at Chelmsford since, the son of Expert Eye is preferred to Paternoster Square, who has not been outside the first three in his last three starts, and as eight-race maiden Cobalt Blue.

Little between the principals on form but COBALT BLUE looks the way to go on the back of his good C&D handicap second now back in maiden company. Sir Michael Stoute's Fly Zone is less exposed and rates the chief threat to Roger Varian's fairly useful gelding, with Paternoster Square in the picture too.

The top three on the card are all closely matched on the figures but the vote goes to COBALT BLUE, who went close over C&D last time.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Catterick Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

CRACK THE KODE took a decent step forward on his nursery debut at Pontefract when potentially finding the stiff finish a bit too much in the closing stages. This track shouldn't pose as much of an issue in that regard and Kevin Ryan's gelding is expected to have more to offer. Battleofbaltimore disappointed when dropped to 5f at Lingfield latest but is better judged on his first two performances over this trip and is likely to enter calculations, while others to note include Hooray For Hazel and Chat Up Line.

CRACK THE KODE produced easily his most convincing effort yet when third on nursery debut at Pontefract 31 days ago, pulling clear with a pair who are steadily going the right way, and he earns the vote to build on that now. Hooray for Hazel rates a likely improver on nursery bow and is feared, along with Moreginplease and Lightning Profit.

This low-grade nursery can go to MOREGINPLEASE who shaped well on her only previous handicap start and has the benefit of a low draw.

15:15 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The Jamie Osborne stable can do little wrong at present and the consistent MISS SLIGO looks to hold every chance of notching up an eighth career success. The step back up in trip is a major plus after finishing second over 1m2f at Leicester and he can see off the likes of top-weight Angel On High and Global Style, who is slightly unlucky not to be arriving on a course hat-trick. Pure Bubbles and Send In The Clouds are likely to be thereabouts as well.

GLOBAL STYLE arrives in fine form so this recent course winner edges the vote now back in handicap company. It's How We Roll (second choice) and Miss Sligo both bring very solid credentials to the table too however so should ensure Tony Carroll's gelding doesn't have things all his own way in a tightly-knit handicap.

Tony Carroll has two interesting contenders in Global Style and Send In The Clouds but slight preference is for MISS SLIGO.

15:35 Catterick Stakes (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HARAPPAN made a promising debut when outrunning his odds to finish third at Newcastle before getting off the mark at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, having been sold for 150,000gns at the Newmarket sale in between those efforts. Iain Jardine's gelding is likely to be too strong for this opposition, despite carrying a 7lb penalty. Mass Consumption is capable of better following a below-par effort on his handicap debut at Newcastle, while improvement appears to be likely from A Poet's Secret.

Having been sold for 150,000 gns after a promising debut, HARAPPAN made a winning start for his current yard at Wolverhampton earlier this month and he can continue his progress to score again. Hondo has shaped as if this longer trip should suit and he looks to be the main danger, with Owners Dream completing the shortlist.

A tricky race can go to HONDO who seemed suited by the step up to 1m2f last time and should be even more effective at this trip.

LTO Selection:

15:50 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

RITA RANA has settled better since having a hood fitted at Bath last month and recent placed efforts suggest that a race of this nature is within her compass. The Game Is Up posted a more encouraging effort when fourth at Windsor last Monday and may give the selection most to think about from the foot of the weights. Lady Bracken's opening mark doesn't appear the kindest on what she's achieved so far, but the three-year-old is open to more improvement than most and completes the shortlist.

CRYPTOS DREAM made a promising start for Jack Jones when a running-on fourth at Windsor and can gain her breakthrough success here with this longer trip looking a big plus. Bbob Alula is well weighted and has winning course form to his name so could emerge as the chief threat ahead of in-form maiden Young Winston.

Preference is for RITA RANA, who has turned things around in a hood recently and was only just caught at Lingfield last time.

16:10 Catterick Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This could turn into a burn up with plenty in here wanting to be on or near the lead, which gives the in-form BOROUGH an advantage with his draw on the rail. Iain Jardine's charge should enjoy conditions and he can make it three wins in his last four starts, with Thursday's determined Beverley scorer Soul Seeker looking his main danger under a 5lb penalty. Fortunate Star is another who goes well on soft ground and must enter calculations, along with Albegone.

BOROUGH escapes a penalty for last week's Hamilton success and is taken to make it 3 wins in his last 4 starts. Soul Seeker is in similarly good form to the selection and is second choice ahead of Bryan Smart's High Opinion.

A competitive race can go to the in-form SOUL SEEKER who is one of the few runners who will be suited by the ground drying out.

16:25 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HEER'S SADIE was thwarted in her hat-trick bid when runner-up over 7f here off this mark earlier in the month, but the Julia Feilden-trained mare looks to have more races in her and could get back on the scoresheet now returned to 1m. Galileo Glass found himself with too much to do when a never-nearer second at Chepstow in late July and he is another to note racing off the same rating in this contest, while Arlo's Sunshine recently found only one too good in a classified stakes event over C&D and warrants respect.

HEER'S SADIE is building up an excellent Brighton record, doing little wrong when runner-up from this mark chasing a hat-trick 12 days ago. She can get back to winning ways here, possibly at the chief expense of Free Step and Uncle Dick.

The vote goes to the resurgent 5yo HEER'S SADIE, who finished well when runner-up in her bid for a 7f course hat-trick last time.

THE BIG JETAWAY has been in fine form over fences of late, having completed a double at this venue earlier in in the month. Donald McCain's gelding could take all the beating now reverting to the smaller obstacles, with 7lb received from chief threat The Galahad Kid potentially significant. The son of Quest For Peace arrives on the back of a first success over hurdles at Stratford in July and cannot be taken lightly on his handicap bow. The returning No Anxiety completes the shortlist.

THE BIG JETAWAY has shown improved form when winning over fences on his last 2 starts, scoring at this course 17 days ago, so he can land the hat-trick back over hurdles in his current mood. The Galahad Kid opened his hurdles account at the second attempt on his latest outing and isn't taken lightly, with No Anxiety the pick of the remainder.

The Galahad Kid faces no straightforward task with a penalty. THE BIG JETAWAY has been on good terms with himself over fences.

16:45 Catterick Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

It is difficult to look past course specialist QUERCUS, who has won his last three attempts over this C&D, including victories on his last two starts, and softer ground conditions should not pose too much of an issue as he looks to strike again off a career-high mark. That may be at the main expense of recent C&D scorer Wade's Magic and the in-form Giselles Izzy, who is unproven on this ground.

QUERCUS has fared well with the draw and can defy the handicapper again and complete a C&D hat-trick. Fellow last-time-out C&D scorer Wade's Magic is second choice ahead of Lady Celia and Giselles Izzy.

Topweight QUERCUS (nap) has won over C&D the last twice to take his overall tally here to five, and he can land the hat-trick.

16:55 Brighton Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Spanish Mane regained the winning thread at Lingfield last time and the two-time course winner merits respect off only 2lb higher in this event. However, OPTIVA STAR makes slightly more appeal after gaining a breakthrough success over C&D in early August, with apprentice Alec Voikhansky now on board claiming 5lb. That effectively puts the three-year-old 1lb lower here and a double could be on the horizon. Media Guest has been performing well enough over this distance of late to suggest that he could have a say too.

George Margarson and Mikkel Mortensen combined to good effect recently and MEDIA GUEST looks the one to be with having confirmed he's back in excellent order from his reduced mark at Leicester last time. Optiva Star and Batchelor Bay are a couple of potential threats.

Preference is for the admirable 8yo SPANISH MANE (nap), who has won at Lingfield in two of her last three runs and is as good as ever.

LTO Selection:

17:00 Bangor Handicap Chase (Class 3) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

AL ZARAQAAN has proved a revelation since joining the Sam England yard and could maintain his unbeaten record over fences with a fifth consecutive success, despite a 4lb rise for his latest victory. Sir Tivo is only 3lb higher than his Stratford triumph in July and should give the selection plenty to think about. El Borracho has been mixing it on the level and over hurdles this season but shouldn't be underestimated on the return to chasing, given his fine record of five wins from eight appearances over fences.

AL ZARAQAAN has made a fine start over fences for Sam England, completing a 4-timer with plenty to spare at Southwell 4 weeks ago, and a 4 lb rise shouldn't prevent a bold bid to maintain his 100% record over fences. Highly-admirable pair Sir Tivo and El Borracho are obvious threats.

As always, Mercian Prince will put plenty of pace to the race and that will suit the strong-travelling AL ZARAQAAN (nap).

LTO Selection:

17:10 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TURNER GIRL has benefited from the application of cheekpieces on her last couple of outings, going close at Catterick before going one better at Newcastle. The daughter of Mastercraftsman went up 4lb for that success and may have further improvement to come. Alshadhian had shown promise on his first couple of starts and is expected to bounce back from his latest effort at Doncaster, while Robusto and Waterloo Sunset can fight it out for the placings.

ROYAL ATHENA has remained in good heart since opening her account over this C&D in June and she could be the answer to a tricky-looking contest. Given the promise he showed on his reappearance at Leicester, Alshadhian is worth another chance now pitched into a handicap, despite failing to fire last time. He is second choice ahead of Different Tone, Robusto and recent Newcastle winner Turner Girl.

The shortlist is headed by the C&D winners ROBUSTO and Royal Athena, with Turner Girl third choice.

17:20 Catterick Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A winner on this card last year over shorter, RAIN CAP looks like the one to be with here having scored over C&D on his penultimate start and run very well at Hamilton since. Course regular Mr Strutter is a key player against him, along with Langholm, whose losing streak dates back to May 2022 when triumphant over C&D but he only missed out by a short head over 6f here last time. Completing the shortlist are Coaxing, Darbucks and Magical Effect.

MAGICAL EFFECT is now firmly into the veteran stage but he did best of those up with the pace when runner-up behind stablemate Mutanaaseq over C&D 26 days ago and, with a 5 lb pull at the weights, he could be worth chancing to come out on top this time with forecast conditions holding no fears. Darbucks, Langholm and Mr Strutter head up the dangers. Aforementioned Mutanaaseq can't be ruled out either.

The in-form 8yo MUTANAASEQ can win over C&D for the third time this season. Langholm is feared most.

SLATE LANE landed the odds on stable debut in taking fashion at Cartmel in June and the handicapper may have let Emmet Mullins' gelding in lightly on his opening bid in this sphere. The return to 2m7f proved a tonic for Camilla's Choice here earlier in the month and an 8lb rise shouldn't prevent a bold bid for a C&D double. The seven-year-old mare may emerge as the main danger to the selection, ahead of fellow last-time-out winner Champ Royal.

This looks a strong race of its type but it's still hard to escape the claims of SLATE LANE, who was backed as though defeat was out of the question at Cartmel and there's a very good chance his opening mark underestimates him. Fellow last-time-out winners Champ Royal and Camilla's Choice head the opposition.

The unexposed SLATE LANE bolted up in a Cartmel maiden on his debut for Emmet Mullins and he could be in a different league to these.

GIRL MAGIC has shown a liking for this track, with her last two victories coming here over 6f, and the daughter of Havana Grey, who drops back to 5f on this occasion, is expected to prove too strong for her rivals. Faustus scored at Brighton last time and is respected off a 4lb higher mark. Betweenthesticks and Cabeza De Llave are others likely to enter the reckoning.

BETWEENTHESTICKS is 0-9 this season but he has gone close on a few occasions and is appealing returned to the all-weather off a workable mark. The main danger may be posed by Faustus, who regained the winning thread at Brighton recently and remains feasibly treated. Recon Mission is capable of a bold show too.

3yo filly GIRL MAGIC (nap) made it 2-2 here (both 6f) when winning last time and should have the speed to cope with the drop back to 5f.

LTO Selection:

18:05 Bangor Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

FAROUK DE CHENEAU has clearly benefited from a change of scenery, having made it a hat-trick of victories with a wide-margin triumph at Newton Abbot, and, in his current vein of form, it is difficult to imagine a 6lb rise stopping him. Jesuitique returned to form when just denied over hurdles at Cartmel and is very much respected on his chasing bow. Any News completes the shortlist based on his recent second at Uttoxeter.

Preference is for GREY SKIES, who wasn't able to show what he can do upped to this trip over C&D recently (left with too much to do) and, now 2 lb lower in the weights, he is taken to regain the winning thread. Farouk de Cheneau is an obvious danger in his bid to complete the four-timer, while Any News returned to form last time and should give another good account. Jesuitique also enters calculations on his chase debut.

This can go to FAROUK DE CHENEAU, who made it 3-3 for his current yard when scoring in good style over 3m2f at Newton Abbot last month.

18:20 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The drop to 6f appeared to work the oracle for TOPO CHICO with a comfortable success at Windsor last Sunday. She has to carry a 6lb penalty for that success, but the manner of that performance suggested it wouldn't be a surprise to see her back it up. A change of headgear to first-time blinkers might aid the cause of Talamanca, while Phoenix Glow and Katar complete the shortlist.

TOPO CHICO was pretty impressive starting out for a new yard when successful at Windsor last week and, on that evidence, a penalty won't prevent the follow up. Shot also arrives on the back of a winning start for a new stable and is feared most, with Talamanca and Phoenix Glow also of interest.

Provided she backs up the form of her Windsor win, TOPO CHICO looks capable of defying a penalty. Talamanca is second choice.

18:35 Bangor Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MAX OF STARS has shown a fine attitude for hurdling, winning twice at Newton Abbot in recent months, and the juvenile, who has used front-running tactics to best effect, makes plenty of appeal on her handicap bow. Choirmaster held every chance when falling two out at Worcester and warrants a fair amount of respect, while others for the shortlist include Mcgowan's Pass, who has been in consistent form of late, and Eagle's Realm.

MAX OF STARS hasn't looked back since sent hurdling and is fancied to make it 3-4 now going into handicaps off a lenient opening mark. Allbetsoff is in great nick too though so should ensure Ollie Pears' filly doesn't have things all her own way, with Eagle's Realm and Choirmaster in the mix too.

Front-runner Max Of Stars should remain on the scene but a chance is taken on STONIFIC, who might be best caught fresh.

CAJETAN displayed a lot more promise when just denied at Salisbury last Thursday and a similar level of performance may suffice in this contest. Elmonjed, a half-brother to the highly-rated Khanjar, is a potential fly in the ointment, and any market support would make the Blue Point gelding interesting. Shayekh should prove more competitive in these calmer waters and could put his experience to good use to have a say in the finish too.

This represents a good opportunity for CAJETAN, who duly left his debut form well behind when failing by a whisker at Salisbury and entries in the Mill Reef and the Middle Park suggest that better is expected from this colt. The four newcomers are all appealing on paper, particularly Elmonjed, who possesses a speedy pedigree and hails from a leading yard. Havanagreattime has shaped encouragingly on both starts to date and he makes each-way appeal.

The strongest contender is CAJETAN, with Havanagreattime feared most. The newcomers need a market check.

19:05 Bangor Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Gifted Angel stepped forward from his hurdling bow to score at Stratford at the beginning of the month. However, his jumping wasn't particularly fluent and Tom Dascombe's gelding will need to improve in that department now running against more experienced rivals. The vote, therefore, goes to GETAWAY TOM, who was only beaten a neck when bidding for a double at Newton Abbot last time and the five-year-old looks capable of getting back to winning ways off 4lb higher in this company. Recent C&D winner Simply Red appeals most of the remainder.

A few with chances but GETAWAY TOM's form is on an upward curve since sent handicapping so he can defy a 4 lb rise for his excellent Newton Abbot second and bounce back to winning ways. Simply Red is unbeaten round here so greatly feared despite having a career-high mark to overcome. The handily-weighted Cabrakan is also firmly in the picture having not been seen to best effect at Market Rasen last time.

The 3yo GIFTED ANGEL won well at Stratford in spite of some novicey jumping and this track will suit his style.

Blue Curacao failed to fire in a first-time hood at Epsom at the start of the month, but the three-year-old can't be discounted now entering into a classified stakes contest. Sapphire's Moon has a squeak on her best form this season and completes the shortlist.

The drop to 7f isn't sure to suit easy Yarmouth winner BELO HORIZONTE but in truth against this opposition it may not prove to be a decisive factor. Blue Curacao is offered for forecast purposes.

Yarmouth scorer BELO HORIZONTE is still unexposed and taken to defy a penalty. Blue Curacao is second choice.

(1) Flat White 1.62/1, Struck twice on the Flat at Catterick at the end of last summer. Couldn't translate that good form over to hurdles when fifth at Lingfield (2m) in December (final start for Lucy Wadham) but should be up to doing from this sort of mark judged on her Flat ability. Interesting on debut for Dan Skelton.
Only had four starts in this discipline and open to improvement now with Dan Skelton.

Not offered much in two runs for this yard and has only dropped 3lb.

(7) Quiet Thunder 8/1, Stratford mares' novice winner last summer but has struggled to make a significant impact since, merely keeping on past beaten rivals when fifth back at Stratford last month.

19:35 Bangor Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

On Cloud Nine appeared to relish the step up to an extended 2m3f when landing a maiden hurdle here at the beginning of the month, but the Cloudings mare does have more on her plate now returning to this sphere off an 8lb higher mark than her sixth-placed effort at Worcester in July. With that in mind, it may pay to take a chance on FLAT WHITE improving for a change of scenery now in the care of Dan Skelton, as she has displayed enough ability on the level to suggest that she can make an impact in this sphere. Handicap debutant Teeceethree also enters calculations.

FLAT WHITE is interesting starting out for new trainer Dan Skelton and gets a narrow vote over recent C&D maiden winner On Cloud Nine. Jamie Snowden handicap newcomer Teeceethree may prove best of the remainder.

A few with chances but FLAT WHITE is potentially well handicapped on her first run for Dan Skelton.

LTO Selection:

19:50 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

I'M MABLE has maintained her form with some creditable efforts in defeat since winning over an extended 5f at Brighton in June. The Michael Attwater mare now races off the same mark as that success and the ease in trip shouldn't prove an inconvenience. The five-year-old gets the nod, ahead of Sparked, who was only denied by a neck at Windsor last Monday. Imperiousity and Thank The Lord also make some appeal off their current ratings in what looks a wide-open contest.

Having pulled clear of the rest when going close at Windsor last week, SPARKED makes plenty of appeal off the same mark here with the drying ground a plus. The consistent I'm Mable is feared most, albeit cases can also be made for Thank The Lord and Imperiousity. The veteran Boom The Groom needs a second look, too.

Windsor runner-up SPARKED can go one better turned out quickly before she's reassessed. Imperiousity is second choice.

LTO Selection:

20:05 Bangor Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

POLICE ACADEMY made the perfect start for new connections at Uttoxeter last month and appears to be on a fair mark judged on past performances in handicap chases when with Oliver Sherwood. The six-year-old makes most appeal, with Never No Trouble appearing the selection's biggest challenger. The daughter of Time Test has finished runner-up on her last three appearances in this sphere and her latest 1lb rise shouldn't stop another decent effort. In-form rivals Pollypockett and Maggie O round off the shortlist.

It'll be a surprise if last month's Uttoxeter novice winner Police Academy doesn't have more to offer for new trainer Fergal O'Brien and she should take a bit of stopping back in a handicap. Never No Trouble and Pollypockett can fight it out for the forecast spot.

The suggestion is SHE'S A ROCCA, who will be well handicapped if rediscovering her best form on this return from a break.
