Stepney Causeway

2/1(-6%)
(2) Stepney Causeway 2/1, Useful hurdles winner for Dan Skelton and capitalised on easing mark to open chase account for present stable at Worcester (16.5f) in June. Not beaten far when last of 3 under a penalty at Newton Abbot since but will do well get the better of Valentino Dancer here.
Worcester winner two starts ago; last of three over C&D since; may be vulnerable.

2nd (1) Valentino Dancer (0.8/1 +12%)
Valentino Dancer

0.8/1(+12%)
(1) Valentino Dancer 0.8/1, Back to form the last twice, hitting the crossbar in a 2½m Uttoxeter handicap hurdle and latterly on debut in this sphere at Southwell (15.8f, good) where he chased home a bang in-form rival who was completing the hat-trick. Obvious claims off the same mark.
Good second on chasing debut last month; leading claims.

Dr T J Eckleburg

6.5/1(-8%)
(3) Dr T J Eckleburg 6.5/1, Fairly useful hurdler at best but hasn't returned in much form for new yard, again offering little on second chase start when well-beaten seventh at Bangor 18 days ago.
Well beaten in all three stable starts, the latest pair in chases; enough to prove for now.

Oval Street

25/1(+50%)
(4) Oval Street 25/1, Multiple point winner who showed some ability remains when third on yard/hurdles debut in a Newton Abbot maiden last month. However, well held on subsequent handicap chase debut and looks up against it from a long way out of the weights.
Moderate winner pointer; 23lb out of the handicap and up against it.
LTO Selection:

14:30 Newton Abbot Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

VALENTINO DANCER made a pleasing start to life over fences when filling the runner-up spot at Southwell last month. Fergal O'Brien's charge appears to have been well placed in a bid to go one better and he shades preference over Stepney Causeway, who already has a chasing success on his CV. Dr T J Eckleburg can follow the pair home ahead of Oval Street.

Ready preference is for VALENTINO DANCER, who jumped well in the main when second to an in-form rival on debut in this sphere at Southwell and he remains 2 lb below his last winning hurdles mark. Stepney Causeway is the only conceivable threat, with Dr T J Eckleburg showing little spark sent chasing of late and Oval Street a long way out of the handicap.

After a satisfactory chasing debut, VALENTINO DANCER has a strong chance.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CAITLIN'S COURT left her earlier form behind when bolting up over an extended 2m2f here in May and, providing the slight drop in trip poses no issue, she can repeat the dose from just 2lb higher. Recent Uttoxeter scorer Saddlers Quest does not look overburdened by a subsequent 6lb rise in the handicap and Joe Anderson's 5lb claim is an added bonus today. Others to note include Karannelle and Isabella Bee.

Although the fact it took SADDLERS QUEST 14 attempts to win over hurdles doesn't mark her down as an obvious one to go back to back, the first 2 came well clear of the third and she could still be well treated off 6 lb higher. Fellow last-time-out scorer Caitlin's Court is second choice ahead of Vision of Hope. Fergal O'Brien handicap newcomer Isabella Bee is one to monitor closely in the betting.

An open contest could go to topweight KARANNELLE, who usually runs well at this track.

LTO Selection:

15:30 Newton Abbot Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The form of THE GEORDIE GINGE's Stratford second last month took a boost when the winner followed up in handicap company, and any further improvement can see Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge open his account today. A three-time winner on the Flat when trained in Germany, Wonderful Eagle must be of interest on his stable/hurdling bow, while Littel Flour hit the frame at Perth three weeks ago and a reproduction of that effort would bring her firmly into the reckoning.

WONDERFUL EAGLE showed a fairly useful level of ability on the Flat in Germany and should take a fair bit of beating if transferring that sort of form over to hurdles at the first attempt. The Geordie Ginge was collared only in the dying strides by one who's gone in again since at Stratford, so he's very much respected, while Little Flour and Climbing need factoring in, too.

Triple German Flat winner Wonderful Eagle could go well but CLIMBING appeals as the safer play after his good run at Stratford.

Drop back in trip shouldn't be an issue but now 5 b higher and, moreover, he's by no means certain to be in the same form, given his up-and-down profile.

Consistent this summer but finding it hard to add to six chasing wins.
LTO Selection:

16:00 Newton Abbot Handicap Chase (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Romanor ran well in a higher class at Stratford last month and as he races off 2lb lower here, he looks to have a chance of landing his seventh success over fences. However, he has to give 6lb to DAN'S CHOSEN, who strolled home over C&D last month off 5lb lower in the handicap and if he can repeat that form here, then he appears be the one to beat. Fellow course double seeker Investment Manager is another to take seriously and he might try to make all dropping back in trip, though some of these could prove too speedy for him.

Cases can be made for each member of the quintet, with BAGHEERA GINGE shading preference. The form of his effort at Worcester is strong and he shaped like the clear second best at the weights when third at the same course last time. The combination of the drop back in trip and better ground will help, while the addition of cheekpieces may help eke out a little more. Romanor is second choice ahead of Dan's Chosen, who got the better of Glajou over C&D last time, and Investment Manager.

Topweight BAGHERRA GINGE (nap) may well benefit from the application of cheekpieces.

LTO Selection:

16:30 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Elham Valley won his only start here in August last year over course and distance, but he was pulled up at Cartmel when last seen in May and arrives here with something to prove. Clearance also likes it here, with three of his four wins coming at the track including last time out, and he looks a player, but a chance is taken on LADY ADARE. A winner on her first three starts over hurdles, she has had her issues since but further wind surgery recently will hopefully see her back to her best.

CLEARANCE added to his fine course record when scoring in cosy fashion last month and remains on a workable mark. He can go in again. Enthused is feared most.

Course specialist CLEARANCE can gain a fourth C&D win.

17:00 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Nicky Henderson won this last year and will hope for a repeat with top-weight Lelantos, who he seems likely to mount a challenge despite having to carry 12 stone. However, JACK THE FARMER brings consistency to the table, with a top three finish on his last seven starts including a win at Worcester last month, and he could add another success to his CV today. The in-form Rubys Reward and the first-time visored Danzini are interesting alternatives in a highly-competitive renewal.

Little between the principals on form but RUBYS REWARD comes here at the top of her game so edges the vote off just a 1 lb higher mark than her excellent recent Worcester second. Bensini is also weighted to have a big say ahead, with in-form pair Jack The Farmer and Danzini also in the mix.

Nigel Hawke's JACK THE FARMER is developing into a reliable stayer at this level and he was a bit unlucky when second here last time.

17:15 Roscommon Claimer 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Magnetic North is the obvious starting point having rattled off a trio of claimers in June and July before an underwhelming return to hurdling in Sligo. He is swerved on this occasion, though, with soft ground on the agenda. The consistent KHAFAAQ appeals, particularly with Cian Horgan taking 7lb off his back. He has posted two victories, including one in a handicap over a similar trip at Cork, and three places from his last five outings. He has form on soft ground. Denis Hogan's Bal De Rio should be more than capable in this grade, especially if the ground is very testing. His stablemate Roderick landed a claimer at Killarney last month, which entitles him to respect. Comfort Line had a horror draw when unplaced in Galway, but could enjoy dropping into this class.

KHAFAAQ rates the pick of these weights so looks the way to go on the back of his good recent Galway third. Bal de Rio is feared most reverted to this sphere with Theresathought also one to consider in an open claimer.

Magnetic North and Comfort Line have strong claims but KHAFAAQ's consistency is a big selling point at this level.

17:30 Worcester Handicap Chase (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having struck the woodwork on his fencing bow, ZORAN made no mistake next time when romping to victory over this course and distance three weeks ago. Emma Lavelle's gelding has an 8lb higher mark to contend with today, but he remains open to further progress and looks certain to mount another serious challenge. Justshortofabubble, who recorded his first career success at Stratford last time, can give the selection most to think about, while Sinister Minister heads the remainder.

ZORAN impressed when going in over C&D last time and this fairly useful Flat winner can make light of a 8 lb rise in the weights. Sinister Minister has taken well to fences but might have to settle for runner-up spot once more, with Stratford-victor Justshortofabubble appealing as the pick for place purposes.

Recent C&D winner ZORAN brings reasonable hopes of better. Justshortofabubble and Sinister Minister are the other principals.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BAD DESIRE, who holds three Group 2 entries, can build upon a promising runner-up berth on debut at Galway. He was collared in the closing stages by a short-priced favourite and testing ground will hold no fears for him after that performance. Cambridge is a half-brother to a Listed winner and holds a Group 2 entry at Newmarket next month. He is an obvious threat on his racecourse debut for Aidan O'Brien. The form of Star Hunter's third at Leopardstown in May has been very well franked. He doesn't have any notable entries but if handling this much slower ground, should be a danger to all. Thor's Hammer showed considerable improvement when filling the runner-up spot on his second start in Killarney. He was well backed that day and slow ground will suit him fine.

BAD DESIRE shaped well when a debut runner-up at Galway and is fancied to build on it and go one better now at the chief expense of form-pick Thor's Hammer. Aidan O'Brien's Dubawi newcomer Cambridge is much respected too, especially if the market speaks in her favour.

An interesting maiden. STAR HUNTER's third at Leopardstown was back in May but that now looks a really good effort.

Brief Times merits respect having notched up back-to-back successes at Southwell and Bangor recently, as does the consistent Go On Chez. However, preference is for COURTLAND. His winning run came to an end in the Summer Plate last month, but that was another career-best performance and the progressive son of Court Cave can get back on track today. Peregrine Run is also noted.

COURTLAND advanced his form again when second in the Summer Plate (winner won again at the weekend) and he can resume winning ways now. The Paul Nicholls-trained Hell Red is second choice ahead of Go On Chez and the hat-trick seeking Brief Times.

A strong field, but the one runner with striking potential is BRIEF TIMES (nap). Next best are Go On Chez and Courtland.

18:15 Roscommon Stakes 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

RIBCHESTINA won her maiden over a sprint trip on testing ground at Navan and, afterwards, jockey Robbie Colgan was quoted saying that she is more a seven-furlong horse. This step up in trip should suit her. She was beaten into fourth on better ground at Naas, but the winner went on to be successful in the Albany at Royal Ascot, so her run has merit. Nemonte has plenty of ability, but ideally would want the ground to dry out to see her at her best. She does go to work off a light weight, though, with Conor Stone-Walsh's 7lb claim factored in. My Mate Alfie was placed on his first two starts and was produced close home by Colin Keane to win in Down Royal. There is plenty more to come from him, but he does have to give plenty of weight away and may not want the conditions too testing.

NEMONTE didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fourth in the Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown so gets the verdict at the chief expense of Down Royal scorer My Mate Alfie. Ribchestina must also enter calculations after her break.

My Mate Alfie faces no easy task conceding weight to two smart fillies, with RIBCHESTINA narrowly preferred to Nemonte.

18:30 Worcester NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It's not often that Archie Watson has runners in this sphere, but he's had some success when doing so and RIDGE HILL could continue that trend today. The son of Dubawi has a striking Flat pedigree, being a full-brother to former Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth, and this does not look an overly competitive heat to start off in. Tribal Glory finished a fair second over track and trip last month and he should be involved with improvement likely. Captain's Pick heads the remainder.

TRIBAL GLORY is the percentage call on the back of his C&D bumper debut second, although a strong market move for Archie Watson newcomer Ridge Hill would put a slightly different slant on things. Kilbeggan runner-up Captain's Pick should also have a say on first outing for new trainer Christian Williams.

This may go the way of the newcomer RIDGE HILL. His Flat yard wins bumpers and this gelding is very well related.

LTO Selection:

18:45 Roscommon Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

This looks like a nice opportunity for NELDA to open her account. The 88-rated filly sets a good standard in this and is over a stone clear of the next highest according to the handicapper. She just failed by a neck to peg back Livio Milo in Galway last time and a similar effort should be enough to get her head in front now. There isn't a lot between a few of these on ratings and Hazalaya could be the one to give the selection most to do. The Siyouni filly ran okay last time at Killarney but had some stronger form previously and it's interesting that the cheekpieces are dispensed with now. Rebecca's Girl improved when finishing third at Navan last month and Colin Keane takes the ride again. She should get involved for the places.

This can go to NELDA, who has the best form on offer and only narrowly failed to open her account at Galway earlier this month. Muhaarar's Girl and Rebecca's Girl rate the principal dangers.

Unless the dogs are barking about newcomer Uncanny this looks best left to NELDA, whose only blip to date came in a Group race.

19:00 Worcester Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NO RECOLLECTION was beaten 30 lengths at Market Rasen last month, but that was a better race and he drops in class now returned to the scene of his only two victories over hurdles. A lightly-raced five-year-old owned by the Worcester Racing Club, he could prove too strong for the interesting Tedwin Hills, who finished a promising fourth at Plumpton in May and is open to plenty of improvement. Chasamax is very well handicapped on his better form and could surprise a few, while Hiconic may try to make all and won't prove easy to catch if getting an easy lead.

Preference is for KENZAI WARRIOR, who was a solid second here in June and returns to handicap company on a fair mark. Painless Potter and Coolnaugh Haze can also make their presence felt.

Hiconic and Coolnaugh Haze were first and second over C&D in June but watch out also for fourth-placed MIX OF CLOVER.

19:15 Roscommon Handicap 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

EMORCEE deserves to get his head in front and may prove the answer here. The Elzaam gelding ran really well at Galway last time when losing out late on to Malbay Madness over a mile. He may benefit for dropping back to 7f on this ground and has C&D form having just failed to get up here early last month. First Gentleman has been knocking on the door in maiden company and could be a danger here with blinkers fitted for the first time. Dragon Of Malta won well at Galway last time and has to be on the shortlist, despite a 9lb hike for that victory.

ELOQUENT ARTHUR's latest Galway third represents solid form so he gets the nod off the same mark. Colin Keane has got a good tune out of Dragon of Malta recently and even a 9 lb rise for his Galway win is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Longseoir and Emorcee are others to consider.

It was never in much doubt when DRAGON OF MALTA (nap) won comfortably at Galway and he can deal with this 9lb higher mark.

LTO Selection:

19:30 Worcester Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SEINESATIONAL is an obvious contender after his course and distance second in mid-July and if he improves for that first start of the season, then he could prove difficult to beat. Red River Valley has to be of some interest after winning a point-to-point in 2021 and he is one to consider on his hurdling bow, while Craven Bay seemed better suited by this trip when third last month and only has three and a half lengths to find with the selection on that form.

SFORZA CASTLE has progressed with each start to date and, with potentially more to come now stepping up in trip, he's an appealing candidate in what looks a winnable race. Seinesational is fully exposed but ought to be on the premises again, while Craven Bay has a similarly progressive profile to the selection and must enter calculations, also.

The leading contenders on hurdles form may be the ones to concentrate on. SFORZA CASTLE looked ready for this step up in trip last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

YAMALIA STAR came on nicely from her debut to chase home Beechwood at Killarney last month and ran another solid race when third to a smart-looking newcomer at the Galway festival. Jack Davison fits a visor for the first time and the daughter of Sea The Stars, a sister to Group 2 winner Endless Time, may be able to get her head in front on her fourth start. Fisherman's Beach kept on steadily to be third on debut at Limerick and is also tried in headgear. He has a little bit to find with the selection on a line through Limerick second Beechwood but is open to plenty of improvement. Jessica Harrington starts off Hardpoint, a half-brother to a pair of Listed winners over 1m4f and upwards, and the Camelot colt may be more of a contender than Dundalk fourth Great Cat Mau.

FISHERMAN'S BEACH has had his debut third franked by the runner-up winning since and can strike at the second time of asking. Jack Davison's Yamaila Star is next best on form, although if the market speaks for him it could be that the chief threat comes from the well-bred Jessie Harrington newcomer Hardpoint.

Not many to seriously consider. FISHERMAN'S BEACH shaped with a deal of promise at Limerick two months ago.

LTO Selection:

20:00 Worcester Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

D'jango is better handicapped over hurdles here than he would be over fences and, as a course-and-distance winner, he could go close, but it seems unlikely he can get the better of KARAVOMYLOS. A consistent four-year-old who came home third here off this mark last month when bidding for a double, he represents an in-form Peter Bowen yard and he may add another winner to his tally today. Hungry Hill and Angels Landing may be the ones to chase them home.

A few with chances but KARAVOMYLOS is on the up since sent over staying trips and fancied to build on his C&D third and resume winning ways. Hungry Hill is another progressive type so he rates a big threat on the back of his Uttoxeter success, while Kapitaliste and Broomfields Cave warrant plenty of respect too in a competitive handicap.

The headgear has to be worth a go on BROOMFIELDS CAVE judged on his performance at Uttoxeter in the race won by Hungry Hill.

LTO Selection:

20:15 Roscommon Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NOSTRA CASA overcame a two-year absence when beating good yardstick Grappa Nonino on stable debut at Sligo in April. Raised 10lb for that ready success, Paul Flynn's charge has run two solid races since including when third of 21 at the Curragh behind the aforementioned Grappa Nonino last time. The well-bred Dubawi gelding can win the race run in memory of his jockey's brother despite dropping back to a trip which may be shorter than ideal. The lightly-raced Narlita stayed on well when just failing to win over an extended nine furlongs at Gowran two runs back and may be suited by stepping up to this trip. Both Action Motion and Secret Sea won maiden hurdles earlier in the year and the latter has had a four-month break since finishing third on the Flat at Limerick when sent off a short-priced favourite. Action Motion came back from three months off to finish fifth over 1m3f at Killarney in July and may well strip fitter here.

HUMTAZA appeared to run out of petrol upped to 13f on her handicap debut at Down Royal last month and, back down in trip slightly here off a 3 lb lower mark, this lightly-raced filly could be the answer. Secret Rock is next on the list but he's certainly not the only potential threat, with the likes of Action Motion, Nostra Casa and L'Un Deux Trois all accorded respect, too.

After two fine runs in defeat on lively ground, NOSTRA CASA can get back on the scoresheet returning to soft ground
