In what looks a winnable affair, DIAMONDSINTHESAND gets the vote. Adrian Wintle's charge put the race to bed in a matter of strides when scoring comfortably over an extended 7f here last week and, eased in trip under a 4lb penalty, he should be tough to stop provided he arrives in similar form. Bama Lama probably did too much early on when fading into fourth over this trip at Chepstow latest and she must enter calculations off a 1lb lower mark. Endowed is also noteworthy.

The Bath race SISTERS IN THE SKY finished a respectable sixth in has thrown up a couple of next-time-out winners and in the hope he gets a better pace to aim at this time, he could be the answer. Bama Lama drops in grade so commands respect, along with Autumn Angel.

A winner here last week over further, DIAMONDSINTHESAND faces similar conditions and he can defy the penalty.

HOT DANCER displayed plenty of promise when filling second spot on his debut at Chester earlier in the month and the son of Too Darn Hot clearly sets the standard on that evidence. Moonjid took a step forward at Goodwood last time and may have more to offer here, while Archie's Dream is another with valid form claims. Tuscan Hills cost 100,000 euros as a yearling and merits a market inspection on his racecourse bow.

HOT DANCER produced a promising first effort when second in a small-field Chester maiden 26 days ago and, open to improvement, he can build on that display and make a bold bid. Moonjid stepped up on his debut form when fourth in a class 2 maiden at Goodwood and he's feared. Newcomers Tuscan Hills and Play Me are others to note.

The choice is MOONJID, who stepped up markedly on his debut run when fourth at Goodwood last time. Hot Dancer should also go well.

Diomed Duke put in a professional display when scoring comfortably over an extended 5f at Bath and must be considered on his nursery debut. Preference, though, is for NAD ALSHIBA GREEN, who made a successful handicap bow when running out a comfortable winner at Bath on her penultimate start and, following another pleasing display when chasing home a subsequent winner over 6f at Lingfield, she gets the vote to defy a 6lb higher mark. Blinky will prove dangerous if allowed to dictate matters.

NAD ALSHIBA GREEN is worth another chance to build on her impressive nursery debut win dropped back to 5f. The progressive Diomed Duke is next best ahead of class-dropper Two Shoes.

Up The Clarets and Diomed Duke are considered but there could be a fair bit more to come from HUCKLESBROOK now handicapping.

FLEURIR blotted her copybook with a tame effort on her reappearance when last of eight over a mile at Bath in May, but she had previously shown enough to suggest that there are races in her off this mark, most notably when bolting up in a Pontefract maiden on her penultimate start. With that in mind, the daughter of Justify gets the vote to bounce back. Raimunda was probably too keen for her own good when fifth over a mile at Sandown recently and, subsequently eased 2lb, she is respected provided she puts in a more professional display. King's Vanity is another to consider.

FLEURIR's reappearance run is easy to forgive and given she lurks on a good mark on the pick of her 3-y-o form, she's taken to get it right this time. Hodler usually runs in better handicaps than this so he needs considering, along with Raimunda.

This can go to RAIMUNDA who has no questions to answer on heavy ground and this looks easier than at Sandown last time.

SHINING PEARL has finished second on her last couple of starts and Karl Burke appears to have found the daughter of Iffraaj an ideal opportunity to go one better here. That said, Ghaiyya is a well-bred filly and is entitled to improve on her debut seventh in a hot contest at Glorious Goodwood. Consent cost 260,000 euros as a yearling and merits a market inspection as a result.

SHINING PEARL has some fair form to her name so is fancied to build on her recent Ayr second and get off the mark. Charlie Johnston's Ghaiyya could emerge as the one to chase home Karl Burke's filly if, as expected, building on her Goodwood debut seventh.

Shining Pearl sets a fair standard but CONSENT should be able to beat her three rivals if she's to justify her Group entries.

This step back down to 5f can see GLAMOROUS EXPRESS return to winning ways. Tony Carroll's charge made eyecatching headway into contention before fading into fourth over 6f at Brighton and, eased 1lb, he looks the one to side with. Four Adaay shaped like she is still in good form when fourth at Goodwood and may emerge as the main danger, although Secret Handsheikh had excuses when down the field at Bath and could bounce back off an unchanged mark.

GLAMOROUS EXPRESS took a big step back in the right direction with a recent fourth at Brighton and can now capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Bath scorer Thismydream rates the obvious danger, although both Four Adaay and Spirit of Breeze can have a say too in this open contest.

Money for Harb would alter the complexion of the race but, as things stand, GLAMOROUS EXPRESS is tentatively preferred.

The relatively experienced TIMES EDITION looked unsuited by the way the race developed when finishing runner-up behind an all-the-way winner over an extended mile at Nottingham recently, but the way she pulled clear of the third suggested that she is very much a winner in waiting and she edges preference in what looks a trappy affair. Heart Of The City followed her promising debut second over 7f at Newmarket with a low-key effort over the same distance at Wolverhampton, but the daughter of Night Of Thunder is surely capable of better and merits serious respect. Angel Rose may outrun her forecast odds.

FLAG OF LOVE isn't really bred for this far but she stuck to her task really well when second to a pretty useful one at Haydock last month and on that evidence, she's just about the most persuasive option. Heart of The City is a huge threat if casting aside a poor run on the AW, while Native Souvenir is a likely-looking newcomer.

Preference is for TIMES EDITION who has at least proved herself on a soft surface and that could count for plenty.

CUBAN TIGER has largely struggled since landing a Listed race at Newcastle in March, but his last couple of efforts have been much more encouraging and suggest that he can go well in a race of this nature. Documenting outran odds of 50/1 when third at Newbury a couple of weeks ago and the veteran cannot be discounted on the back of that performance. Others to note are Serene Seraph, Rhythm Master and Cerulean Bay.

None of these can be ruled out but the vote goes to SERENE SERAPH who looked to have more to offer when a comfortable scorer at Lingfield last time and can defy a 6 lb rise. Hat-trick seeking Cerulean Bay is next on the list ahead of Rhythm Master, Documenting and Persuason.

An open handicap can go to PERSUASION, who hasn't won since taking this in 2023. Documenting and Rhythm Master are next best.
Class & Speed Card

This looks a fascinating maiden and TYCOON gets a tentative vote. The son of Kingman, who fetched 500,000gns as a yearling, represents a stable operating at a 20 per cent strike-rate at Sandown this year and can make his racecourse bow a winning one. That said, dangers are aplenty and look to be headed by Lope De Vega colt Jonquil, who is from the family of Frankel and is surely capable of playing a part for the Stoute/Moore combination. Of those with experience, Time Turner is respected most.

The betting should prove a useful guide but TYCOON appeals as a likely type on paper representing the John & Thady Gosden stable and is narrowly selected before market clues. Qetaifan was really getting the hang of things late on when fourth on debut at Newmarket and looks a sure-fire improver upped to 7f. Centigrade and Jonquil are another pair of very well-bred newcomers who command respect, with Time Turner also likely to improve on his debut effort.

The best option among those who have run looks to be QETAIFAN but newcomers Tycoon, Centigrade and Jonquil read well.
Class & Speed Card

DAANY struggled to land a blow here earlier in the month when in handicap company, but the seven-year-old, who scored over C&D in this grade the time before, may well bounce back on this occasion. Pearl Sands is better judged on his second at Thirsk and is likely to enter the reckoning along with Tres Chic, who has the assistance of Billy Loughnane in the saddle.

PEARL SANDS looked on the way back at Thirsk before not seen to best effect at Beverley, so is worth another chance. Tres Chic and Daany are feared most on these terms.

All of these come with risks at the best of times. TRES CHIC struggles with her consistency but today's weights give her every chance.
Class & Speed Card

TRILBY registered his third win of the campaign with a smooth effort at Haydock and was then far from disgraced when third from out of the handicap in a deeper race over 5f at Pontefract. Able to compete off 3lb lower now, the Sam England-trained gelding must have strong claims at this level back over 6f. Redcar scorer Makanah has also been given a chance by the handicapper and rates a player of just 2lb higher. C&D winner Brazen Bolt offers some value for a place.

The vote goes to VENTURA EXPRESS, who did well under the circumstances when third at Chepstow and, on that evidence, this step back up in trip looks a good move. Trilby put in a solid shift in a higher-grade handicap at Pontefract recently and will be a danger to all if reproducing that effort. Makanah and Tinto are others to consider.

This can go to TRILBY (nap) who is having a fine season and showed last time that he acts on faster ground. Makanah is next best.
Class & Speed Card

In The Trenches is the standout name here, but is difficult to fancy with any great confidence. Placed on his last six starts and well beaten into second at Downpatrick on Monday, he is tried in cheekpieces for the first time now and they may have the desired effect. For a selection, it might be worth taking a chance on POLLY POPPINS. Out of likeable six-time winner Dyrick Daybreak, she ran a fine race to finish fifth on debut over the course and distance earlier this month. Entitled to come on plenty from that experience, the Pour Moi bay could get a lot closer now. Fourth and fifth at Tramore recently, South Of Killerig and Scotcantou both look to have solid claims, while point-to-point winner To The Wire and Tom Gibney's Hutton Glen are other leading hopes.

IN THE TRENCHES is yet to get his head in front but continues to do little wrong, bumping into a useful prospect at Downpatrick on Monday, and he has to be the call now fitted with cheekpieces. South of Killerig is feared most ahead of Struck by Churchil.

Placed on his last six starts, including when well beaten at Downpatrick on Monday, IN THE TRENCHES is given another chance

Sea Regal drops to a mile having raced too keenly over 1m2f at Windsor and William Haggas' filly still has time to showcase her true potential. L'Ennemi makes his first appearance since Newmarket in May, and has been gelded and undergone a wind operation. Any market support would make him of considerable interest, but the consistent GOLDEN MYRRH gets the vote. Twice a winner in June, the daughter of Frankel has held her form well, despite being a beaten favourite on both starts since, and the addition of cheekpieces and a tongue-tie may yield further improvement.

Having won twice in June, GOLDEN MYRRH quickly got back on the up when an excellent second at Haydock 3 weeks ago and with headgear fitted, she looks the answer. King of Charm may improve for the step up to 1m so he's a threat, while in contrast, the drop in trip may also help the free-going filly Sea Regal.

The most solid options appear to be GOLDEN MYRRH and King Of Charm. The former holds most appeal despite the resort to today's aids.
Class & Speed Card

A testing surface seemed to be the key for improvement with last week's C&D heroine DRUSILLA as the daughter of Saxon Warrior gained her first ever success. Despite having a 6lb penalty to overcome, she has similar conditions to aid her cause in what appears to be a winnable contest on paper. Budding is expected to benefit from wind surgery on his first start since the end of May, while Beverley runner-up Solar Bentley completes the shortlist.

DRUSILLA showed much improved form to get off the mark under similar conditions over C&D last week and looks capable of defying a penalty. Solar Bentley made a promising start for this yard when second at Beverley and is feared most.

The well-bred filly DRUSILLA looked very much at home under these conditions when making all last week and she can go in again.
Class & Speed Card

GATWICK KITTEN gave a significant hint that his turn is near with a respectable third-placed finish at Yarmouth and, having been dropped 2lb since, he is eligible for this contest and it could be a good time to side with the Ed Dunlop-trained seven-year-old. Sassy Soprano, who was placed over C&D latest, is another with a reasonable chance on these terms, while Ifonlytheycudtalk also arrives on the back of a solid run and cannot be ruled out.

GATWICK KITTEN ran better than previously this year when third over this trip at Yarmouth 23 days ago and, returned to classified company, he earns the vote to build on that effort and come out on top. Electrified, equipped with first-time blinkers, and Sassy Soprano are others to consider.

The drop to 6f and application of blinkers could suit ELECTRIFIED, who wouldn't need much improvement for that to score.
Class & Speed Card

INIGO was in the process of running a big race when he tipped up at the last at Southwell and having immediately made amends with an eyecatching display in first-time blinkers at Uttoxeter, the Moores' gelding is a striking option off just 7lb higher. No Mean Feat is also going the right way after two second-placed finishes in July and makes the shortlist along with the potentially progressive Atreides, who doesn't have much to find to be on the premises on his return.

A few with chances but INIGO looked to have more to offer when going in at Uttoxeter and can make light of a 7 lb rise. Sami Bear is feared most on the back of a resurgent second here, with handily-weighted Atreides and Cartmel runner-up No Mean Feat also in the picture.

Inigo is open to further progress but preference is for NO MEAN FEAT, who ran very well in defeat on his last two appearances.
Class & Speed Card

No less than four of these have already won at Wexford this summer, with JOHNNY CLARKE registering his C&D success last month. On what was just his third try in handicap company, the progressive Liam Burke-trained seven-year-old showed a likable attitude and is open to further improvement. Carrying a 7lb winner's penalty after his success at Downpatrick on Monday, Mr Sundancer will be fancied to follow up, with Paddy Hanlon again on board. Successful here in May, it'll come as no surprise if Toon Town manages to go in again, while the same can be said for Kate Ill Know. Out of the prolific Jennies Jewel, Tommies Call is an interesting handicap debutant in the the line-up, while Inthenickoftime and Onebrightbluerose are others for the shortlist.

MR SUNDANCER took a marked step forward to score readily at Downpatrick 4 days ago and is worth a chance to defy a penalty despite the quick turnaround. Fellow last-time-out winners Johnny Clarke and Toon Town are dangers in a good race for the grade.

Take your pick from several C&D winners and JOHNNY CLARKE, successful here last month, gets the nod ahead of Toon Town

The switch to more positive tactics helped MIN HUNA to get off the mark at Windsor on her third attempt and the manner of that performance suggests she is capable of improving again on her handicap debut. Crown Of India is likely to benefit from dropping back from 1m4f having finished down the field in a valuable Glorious Goodwood handicap last time, while others to note include Global Esteem and Flatley.

MIN HUNA has the profile of one who could have plenty more to come in handicaps and can come out on top. Cheshire Dancer, the mount of Oisin Murphy, and Global Esteem are next on the list.

While the possible potential of the Haggas-trained handicap newcomer Min Huna has to be feared, preference is for GLOBAL ESTEEM.

BUTTER FINGERS and Teriferma have both made winning starts over hurdles and while the latter is open to progression, the former impressed when he had 29 lengths to spare over favourite Inspire Hope at Tipperary last month. He was a gutsy winner on the Flat most recently and shades preference. Inspire Hope has since gone one better at Killarney and could close the gap a bit. Heed the betting signals as to where she stands with stable companion Teriferma.

BUTTER FINGERS has been transformed by the move to Ross O'Sullivan and he's fancied to complete a cross-code hat-trick. Teriferma and Inspire Hope are probably the main dangers.

The Brosnans could have another exciting horse on their hands with last week's Killarney maiden hurdle winner TERIFERMA (nap)

THREE DONS arrives in tremendous form having made it five wins from his last seven outings over this C&D last Friday. The five-year-old has showcased his versatility on different types of ground and Tony Carroll's gelding may prove a tough nut to crack under a 5lb penalty. Surrey Charm made a winning reappearance at Chepstow last July off a 2lb lower mark and is respected with a first-time tongue-tie applied. Foinix and Sonnet Star appeal most of the remainder.

THREE DONS made it 5 wins from his last 7 starts in good style over C&D last week and can defy a penalty. Sonnet Star is coming back to her best off her reduced mark and is next best.

It's been a common theme on the card to trust those with heavy-ground form and THREE DONS (nap) relished the conditions here last week.

AMAYSMONT's hat-trick bid fell flat at Redcar in May, but he has been more prolific on the all-weather and should have benefitted from a short break. Kevin Frost's charge remains well handicapped judged on past exploits and it would come as no surprise were he to bounce back. Mambha struck the woodwork at Carlisle last time out and is entitled to go well on that evidence, while any market support for Sir Mark Prescott's handicap debutant Angel Pass should be noted.

A first taste of success beckons for KRISTAL KLEAR, who wasn't beaten at all far at Newcastle earlier this month and she continues to edge down the weights. Things didn't go Amaysmont's way when bidding for the hat-trick at Redcar and he is feared back on the all-weather, while confidence behind handicap debutante Angel Pass in the betting would naturally be interesting. Overnight Oats is also worth a second look.

It may be worth giving another chance to KRISTAL KLEAR who is well treated on her near miss at Newcastle in April.
Class & Speed Card

MY BOY JACK has been kept busy since he won a similar race on the all-weather last month and looks worth persevering with in his quest to break his duck on turf. This is easier than the handicap he contested at Newmarket last time out and a bold showing can be be expected. Tillybob posted an improved effort at Pontefract and can play a big role with another step forward. Thunderstorm Katie is also considered with a first-time tongue-tie added.

TILLYBOB returned to form when third at Pontefract 33 days ago and she gets the tentative vote to build on that with her rider again taking off a handy 5 lb. A decent pace to aim at will enhance the claims of My Boy Jack and he, along with Sydney Bay are others to consider.

The suggestion is TILLYBOB, who came back into better form last time and could benefit from these terms and with a 5lb claimer up.
Class & Speed Card

SEA OF CHARM has been in consistent form of late over further and the way she has travelled through a few of those contests suggests that dropping back to 1m could prove ideal. The six-year-old looks to gain a first win since last December, while the capable One Step Beyond bids to improve on his first two runs for new connections now eased in class. Not beaten too far when third over 7f at Southwell last time out, Airshow may be the main danger to the selection.

A trappy handicap in which marginal preference is for LORD P who is taken to build on his encouraging Carlisle sixth and end a losing sequence. Sea of Charm is next on the list on the back of her Nottingham second, with the well-weighted One Step Beyond also in the picture.

Preference is for KING OF SPEED (nap), who looks a particularly solid contender on 2024 form. One Step Beyond is second choice.
Class & Speed Card

This course brought the best out of BELGARUM when he won here in June and that proven ability to handle the figure-of-eight layout will be a handy asset. Hampered and unseated at the first at Newton Abbot, his latest effort can easily be forgotten and a more accomplished performance is expected. Barrakhov has been in good form, although the drop in trip might not be ideal. Therefore, Invictus De Brion is suggested as better value for the forecast now he is back up in distance for his chasing bow.

PRIME PRETENDER is well handicapped on the form he showed in the 2022/23 season and 2 point wins in April suggest he could retain enough ability to take advantage of his reduced mark. Belgarum already has a course chase win to his name this summer and is second choice ahead of Barrakhov.

This can go to BELGARUM (nap), who won stylishly here in June and was not discredited when fourth in a competitive race soon afterwards.
Class & Speed Card

If getting a run, first reserve Chutzpal will be hard to beat carrying a 7lb winner's penalty. A facile winner when justifying strong market confidence at Bellewstown on Wednesday, he is set for a hefty hike in the ratings. For a selection, it might be worth taking a chance on DUKE SILVER. A beaten favourite on debut at Fairyhouse in February, he ran his best race to date when fifth at Roscommon earlier this month. A half-brother to smart stable companion San Salvador, the Order Of St George four-year-old starts off in handicap company now and could prove to be well treated off a mark of 95. Bayou Belle, Fox Leicester, Dream Once More and Inchiquin Maid have all been placed at Bettyville this summer, with the latter beaten by just half a length on her latest start. Returning from a lengthy absence, Mr MacPhisto is another capable of making his presence felt.

Lots with chances but Joseph O'Brien's DUKE SILVER appeals as a likely improver now stepping into handicap company so edges the vote. Bayou Belle could emerge as the main danger on the back of her good recent second here, although Dream Once More and Mr Macphisto can also have a say. Get Down To It completes the shortlist.

We won't stray beyond the obvious here and BAYOU BELLE, narrowly beaten over C&D on her last two starts, is taken to gain a deserved win

Having won at both Nottingham and Newmarket this month, ADELABELLA makes plenty of appeal in her bid for a hat-trick of victories. The four-year-old went up 2lb for her most recent success and is expected to confirm placings with runner-up Ardbraccan, who is only 1lb better off. Mick Appleby's top-weight is still likely to be in the mix, while Unreal Connection and Tronido are others with viable credentials.

ARDBRACCAN was just seen off by Adelabella at Newmarket last time but wasn't seen to maximum effect so, on better terms with that rival, she's fancied to turn the form around. Unreal Connection is another definite player if the race is run to suit.

Bidding for a hat-trick, ADELABELLA (nap) has a solid chance to win again. Tronido is feared most.

Phoenix Of Dreams has been knocking on the door recently and although he would be a deserving winner, SMART HERO might prove too strong. The gelded son of Shamardal, who sets the standard with an official rating of 82, pulled well clear with the winner when runner-up at Sandown on his first start following wind surgery. Dropped both in trip and into maiden company, he is the one to beat. Inherit is noted, as is the William Haggas-trained debutant Mockirr.

SMART HERO went close on his first start since being gelded/undergoing a wind operation at Sandown and he is taken to go one better here. He may have most to fear from likely-looking newcomer Mockirr but Walson's Law is also of interest given his scope for improvement, a remark which also applies to both Brakeman and Miami Hills.

Phoenix Of Dreams can go well but SMART HERO could have his measure in a race in which most can be overlooked.

The Crafty Mole has already won four times over 1m6f this year, but he was beaten off this mark at Newbury latest so another chance goes to GIBSIDE. Tim Easterby's inmate won over this distance at Catterick back in June and his last-start second at Chester suggests he is worth keeping on side. Ascot third King Of The Plains may improve for the extra yardage and makes more appeal than Cool Legend, who is fitted with a tongue-tie after a disappointing effort at Ripon.

Preference is for THE CRAFTY MOLE, who wasn't disgraced upped to 2m at Newbury last time but he is 4-4 over this trip and is taken to maintain that 100% record, provided that the first-time visor has the desired effect. Fellow 3-y-o Cool Legend promises to be suited by this stiffer test and he is feared most ahead of Gibside and King of The Plains.

The Crafty Mole should go well but he may find that GIBSIDE is better handicapped.

This can go the way of MONTBELIARDE following a career-best effort when an encouraging second over 7f at Kempton last week. Stepping up to 1m could spark further improvement and the son of Oasis Dream gets the vote ahead of Bintmaha, who got going late in the piece over 7f at Kempton on her most recent start and an opening mark of 66 looks workable now upped in trip for her nursery debut. Bownder and Jack Andrea cannot be ruled out either.

MONTBELIARDE can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent Kempton second and with this step up to 1m also a likely plus he gets a confident vote. In-form maiden Bownder appeals as the one to chase home George Boughey's juvenile ahead of nursery debutant Bintmaha.

Provided he's as effective back on turf, MONTBELIARDE looks well capable of opening his account. Bintmaha is second choice.

An interesting recruit from the Flat, GLOBAL SKIES rates an attractive proposition for his NH debut and could be tough to resist if he takes to hurdles. Obviously, it is would be dangerous to be too dogmatic given his lack of jumping experience and support in the betting for Kalkaroo should be heeded on the back of a couple of promising efforts since he switched codes. Give It To Me Oj and Character Testing, also newcomers to timber, are others to consider.

GLOBAL SKIES attained a fairly useful level on the Flat and as a brother to a winning hurdler, hopes are high that he will take to this discipline. Give It To Me Oj is another likely sort now tackling obstacles, with Kalkaroo probably the pick of those with experience in this code.

Global Skies was slightly better than GIVE IT TO ME OJ on the Flat but the latter has less to prove on the stamina front.

CRUISIN SUSAN is in the form of her life at present and might be able to complete the hat-trick for local connections. Successful on her most recent visit to the venue earlier this month, she followed up at Tramore less than a week later. Regular pilot John Berry again takes the ride on the Walk In The Park bay and he claims a valuable 7lb. Iridescent is also trained nearby and returning from nearly a year out, it'll be interesting to see how he fares. Successful three times last season, he'll be bidding to exploit a much lower mark over flights. A runner-up on recent starts and stepping up in trip now, it'll come as no surprise if The Striker Dylan manages to make the breakthrough. Top-weight Bobbi Gin Tree and course winner Junot are others to consider.

CRUISIN SUSAN arrives at the top of her game and a 6 lb rise for her stylish Tramore victory might not prove sufficient to prevent her from completing a quick hat-trick. The Striker Dylan is feared most on the back of his good Cork second, although the unexposed Bobbi Gin Tree and handily-weighted Intersky Sunset also need considering.

The hat-trick seeker Cruisin Susan is feared but bTHE STRIKER DYLAN\p has done little wrong lately and stepping up in trip should suit

FINN IRONSIDE made most of the running to score over 7f at York last month. That form reads well in this context and another bold bid looks on the cards. Chelsea Brooks steered Seahorse Syd to an impressive victory at Carlisle and he can feature in the finish again given the ease of that success. Captain Corelli scored at Beverley last time and is not out of this raised only 2lb.

ORIGINAL THINKER proved better than ever under a more patient ride than previously when successful at Beverley in May and, with the likelihood of a good pace to aim at on the cards, she could be worth siding with in the hope a 4-month break doesn't catch her out. Fellow last-time-out winners Finn Ironside and Captain Corelli may pose chief resistance.

The vote goes to FINN IRONSIDE, whose York win has been boosted and for whom the return to this trip could also be a positive.

LIGHT UP OUR STARS failed to see out 1m2f at Pontefract recently, but the locally-trained gelding will be more at home back over a mile and, from a competitive mark, can regain the winning sequence. Ring of Light continues to run well in defeat and he is a worthy adversary as his handicap rating continues to fall. Style Of Life has two wins from her three starts on the all-weather and she is another to consider.

LIGHT UP OUR STARS scored here last month then seemed stretched by the trip at Pontefract next time so, back to more favourable conditions, he's fancied to get back to winning ways at the possible expense of Style of Life, who shaped well recently. Beyond Words is an interesting handicap debutant.

This is open but perhaps FOOLS RUSH IN can take advantage of a major drop in the weights now back on the AW.

THE ACTOR may not have progressed as hoped since a taking success at Newmarket in May, including when going off a single-figure price for the Coventry Stakes next time out. However, he remains a colt of potential and might be able to regain the winning thread now eased in class, possibly at the main expense of Brize Norton, who shaped with some promise when not getting home over further at Kempton on debut earlier in the month. Sands Of Marra is another to consider if bouncing back to the form that saw him score comfortably at Windsor on his penultimate outing.

There was a lot of market confidence behind BRIZE NORTON on his recent 7f debut and it wouldn't be any surprise were he to prove a totally different proposition for his top stable at the second time of asking. Previous winners The Actor and Sands of Marra should be involved, while Sarab Star and Sky Advocate are newcomers who make paper appeal.

The most notable contenders are form pick THE ACTOR and very interesting newcomer Sarab Star. A few others have possibilities.

Earth Cry's winning run came to an end when fourth at Uttoxeter a month ago, but he was far from disgraced on that occasion and should not be discounted. That said, preference is still for STANS THE MAN, who was only narrowly denied off this mark over 2m7f at Worcester 11 days ago. River Robe was a beaten odds-on favourite at Market Rasen when last seen, but is another who could go well.

Things didn't pan out ideally for EARTH CRY when bidding for a hat-trick at Uttoxeter last month, so Neil Mulholland's 6-y-o is well worth another chance from his reassessed mark at the expense of Stans The Man, who has been rejuvenated by the fitting of cheekpieces and pulled clear with the winner at Worcester 11 days ago. River Robe looks best of the rest.

The pick is EARTH CRY, who has thrived this season, might still be on the upgrade and benefits from Dylan Johnston's useful 5lb claim.

WORLD OF FORTUNES led home the classy Familiar Dreams when she impressively claimed a bumper here last summer. Since down the field in a Listed contest at Cheltenham, the Liam Kenny trained chestnut starts off over flights now and it'll be interesting to see how she fares. Like half the field, Ma Bess is another hurdling debutant in the line-up. Deservedly making the breakthrough on her sixth track start here earlier this month, it'll come as no surprise if she manages to follow up. Workinonadream has some valuable experience over flights to her name and fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, she is likely to go close. Pulled up when easy to back on debut, Cool Park still warrants the utmost respect coming from the Willie Mullins yard, while Rose Boum is another for the shortlist.

The greater emphasis on stamina should suit Philip Rothwell's WORKINONADREAM who can make it third time lucky over hurdles. Course bumper winner World of Fortunes appeals as one who should be up to making her mark in maiden hurdles and is feared most. The Willie Mullins-trained Cool Park needs keeping a close eye on in the betting on her first outing since pulling up in the course bumper won by World of Fortunes.

The fact that MA BESS won a point sways the decision in her favour even though she won a 2m bumper here last time.

FLYING SECRET may be winless since June last year, but he hinted at a return to form when not getting the clearest of runs and eventually finishing fourth at Chepstow last time out. Stepping up to 1m looks like a good move and he is preferred to recent Thirsk third L'Argent and Embarked, who has done very well without getting his head in front since joining new connections. Chagall has dropped 3lb below his last winning mark, while Thanks Dad is another to note following a respectable effort here last time out.

L'ARGENT is on a handy mark and has shaped like he's ready to capitalise recently, not getting a clear run when third at Thirsk a fortnight ago, so he's well worth taking a chance on. Embarked and his stablemate Thanks Dad both strike as feasible dangers.

Embarked can make another bold bid but MERCURIUS POWER may be the answer.

Three-year-old Little Miss Magic sprung a minor shock when winning at odds of 22/1 at Bath recently and the unexposed daughter of Calyx merits respect having been raised 2lb for that. TREACHEROUS is at an entirely different stage of his career, but the veteran proved he retains plenty of enthusiasm when on target at the Somerset venue last time. Liam Wright's 5lb claim negates the 4lb hike incurred and he is taken to go in again. Connie's Rose heads the remainder.

In a small-field sprint where none can be ruled out the veteran TREACHEROUS is taken to confirm recent Bath superiority over Connie's Rose and land a second successive win.

3yos Little Miss Magic and TWISTED TIARA appeal most. The selection looked willing at Bath in the spring and can rate higher.

BOLINTLEA put in a promising display when third on her return to action over 2m4f at Worcester last month. With the benefit of that outing and this step up in trip, the nine-year-old could take plenty of beating off the same mark. My Gift To You has been put up 5lb for a narrow second at the same venue, but he cannot be discounted. Cape Vidal edges out Jigginstown King to be best of the rest.

BOLINTLEA shaped well after 8 months off/a breathing operation when third at Worcester 6 weeks ago and is potentially on a good mark if building on that. The likeable My Gift To You is next best ahead of Cape Vidal.

A chance is taken on BROOK BAY who ran a positive second race over fences and this longer trip is well worth exploring.

A case can be made for all six runners in this quality contest. Bouncing back to his best when successful over the course and distance earlier this month, it'll come as no surprise if Jazzy Matty manages to follow up. With two JP McManus representatives in the line-up, Mark Walsh has opted to partner Magic Tricks over Common Practice. The former has a rating of 133, while the latter impressed when successful on his debut over fences here last month. Monbeg Park is another with a C&D win to his name, but he flopped at Galway and will need to bounce back if he is feature. However, GORGEOUS TOM gets the nod. Well fancied when disappointing in the Galway Hurdle, the Champs Elysees six-year-old has some valuable point-to-point experience to his name. Starting off over regulation fences now, a bold bid looks likely.

Having impressed on his chase debut here last month, COMMON PRACTICE earns the vote. The 5-y-o looked a natural over fences that day and may well go on to surpass his useful hurdles form in this sphere. Magic Tricks remains open to improvement as a chaser and he is just about second choice ahead of Jazzy Matty and Gorgeous Tom.

COMMON PRACTICE won over 2m here before a fine Flat run. He has a good chance of lasting this trip once the ground doesn't deteriorate.

A respectable third when bumped and slightly hampered at Redcar last time out, THE GREY LASS should appreciate a return to this track, having scored over C&D on her penultimate outing. The five-year-old has operated off higher marks in the past, and it may be that unexposed handicap debutant Doralee gives her the most to think about. On his first start for new connections, Howzak should be considered, along with Jack Of Clubs and Musical Diva.

CRYPTO QUEST has a poor run to put behind him but this is just his second outing for a stable that does well at this track, so he's worth taking a chance on. Howzak is a danger on first outing for a new yard and Jack of Clubs can take a hand if back to the form he showed when successful at Beverley on his penultimate outing.

Jack Of Clubs can be involved if getting it right at the start but the unexposed DORALEE (nap) can make a winning handicap debut.

MONSIEUR FUDGE might not have been seen for over a year, but the form of his debut effort when finishing third behind the useful Macduff has worked out well. He returns with his trainer George Scott in good form and, if ready to roll, he might be tough to beat. Shamran has shown more than enough to suggest he will be on the premises, while newcomer Fox Avatar warrants a market check ahead of his racecourse bow.

MONSIEUR FUDGE appeals as one who could be capable of making up for lost time and can provide in-form George Scott with another winner. Shamran is the main threat unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Roger Varian newcomer Fox Avatar.

Easily the biggest form contenders are race-fit SHAMRAN and long-absent Monsieur Fudge.

Several went close on their latest starts, with preference for HAWAII DU MESTIVEL. The seven-year-old was having only his second outing in a handicap and first since January when runner-up at Uttoxeter, giving the impression this extra yardage would suit. Joker Du Chenet went agonisingly close at Stratford and his jockey's 5lb allowance helps his cause, while Bushmill Boy just failed to catch the winner at Uttoxeter on his debut for Olly Murphy and he is another to consider.

BUSHMILL BOY was strong in the betting starting out for Olly Murphy when just touched off at Uttoxeter last time and he's worth a chance to belatedly gain a first success. Hawaii du Mestivel and Joker du Chenet are both on the up and appeal as big threats. Support for Damask on debut for Dan Skelton would need following.

Dan Skelton won with a new recruit at Stratford on Tuesday and may do so again here with DAMASK, who was bought for £13,000 in May.

OUR BOBBY has a fine record at Wexford and might be able to defy top-weight in this competitive heat. No worse than third when staying upright in five visits to Bettyville, the likeable grey justified favouritism over the course and distance in July. Now up to a career-high mark of 107, he might be able to eke out further improvement at his favourite venue. While likely to prove popular with punters after his easy Tramore win, Lake Chad isn't the most consistent and has an uninspiring record at Wexford. First, second and third respectively here last month, Falcon Park, Farrokh and Prince Of Air all reoppose. The former since failed to land a blow at Tramore, but could bounce back returning to the scene of his sole success. Bite That might be able to make an impact for the in-form Pat Flynn yard, while Malton Groove and Ernie From Nurney are other leading contenders.

OUR BOBBY opened his chase account at the fourth attempt here last month and a 6 lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from repeating the dose. Dual hurdles winner Ernie From Nurney is open to improvement in this sphere and he is second choice, while Farrokh and Killinure Lass are others with appealing claims.

In cracking form lately, OUR BOBBY could be able to back up his C&D win last time off a mark that is the same as his hurdles rating.

CALDWELL has won over hurdles since scoring over this course and distance in February. He drops in trip after a good effort back on the Flat at Newcastle and Jennie Candlish's yard has been among the winners in the past week. Squeezebox spoilt his chance when failing to settle at Newbury, but can feature with a repeat of his second at Haydock in May, while Swinging London went close at Pontefract when last seen racing over today's trip and is not out of this either.

SQUEEZEBOX didn't fire last time but his previous effort was encouraging and he's on an appealing mark, so he gets the tentative vote in a weak race. Caldwell is a danger and Turner Girl can take a hand if the blinkers have a positive effect.

It could pay to chance TURNER GIRL who has benefited from a change of headgear in the past and she has form here.

The unexposed MIDNIGHT DRIVE has taken a step forward since switching to handicap company earlier in the season. Clive Cox's filly has been raised 6lb for the most recent of her victories, but that may still not be enough to stop her here. Bonaventure also scored on his most recent outing and could prove to be the main threat, ahead of Daymer Bay and Blenheim Star.

CLAXTON BAY caught the eye a bit when third over C&D on his recent first run for Dave Evans and can build on that promise and deny the hat-trick seeking Midnight Drive, who switches to turf for the first time this evening. Last-time-out Windsor scorer Bonaventure completes the shortlist.

With further improvement possible at this distance, BONAVENTURE gets the vote. Midnight Drive is feared most.

LIGHTENING GESTURE makes a belated return to action having placed at Uttoxeter a year ago, but the five-year-old has gone quite well fresh before and can race of a potentially favourable mark. No More Bolero went close at at Newton Abbot before disappointing at Stratford and connections will be hoping the switch to a visor brings about a return to form. Royal Regard finished closer at Uttoxeter last time and is preferred to Trickalight of the rest.

A chance is taken on EASTER ICON, who was a four-time winner over 1¾m+ on the Flat and he could be about to leave his low-key hurdles form behind now switched to handicap company and faced with a stiffer test. Lightening Gesture will be a big threat if able to pick up where he left off last summer, while Trickalight is third choice ahead of Ideal de Romay.

This step up in trip should suit SELECTIVELISTENING, who shaped with promise over 2m1f on last month's handicap debut. He gets the nod.

Another competitive affair to round off proceedings, with four last-time-out winners in the line-up. Successful at Downpatrick on Monday, Calahill is turned out again quickly under a 7lb winner's penalty, while Walkonthebriteside, who is a half-brother to Champ, will do well to take this on his first try over fences. Trained locally by Denis Murphy, Three By Two was successful over the course and distance last month and looks a leading contender, while fresh from his Tramore triumph, Inchidaly Copper is sure to have plenty of supporters. However, it might be worth taking a chance on GLENMALURE LODGE. She burst a blood vessel when disappointing at Killarney last month, but she is a real stayer and should appreciate this step up in trip. Bearwithmenow and Cafe Del Mar are others for the shortlist.

CALAHILL opened his Rules account in a Downpatrick handicap chase four days ago and looks capable of following up under a penalty, provided that this doesn't come too soon. Next on the list is Walkonthebriteside, who scored over hurdles here earlier this month and will be a threat if taking to fences at the first attempt, a remark which also applies to Cafe del Mar. Recent C&D 1-2 Three By Two and Bearwithmenow also enter calculations.

Having given away a big lead when spying the paddock exit at Kilbeggan last time, ARDAGHS CHOICE could score if keeping focused today.

Luke Morris could afford to ease down OVERTURE in the closing stages at Nottingham and still win by a wide margin last week. The New Approach filly is clearly on the upgrade and she can defy a 6lb penalty to complete a hat-trick. Alacrity should make a race of it despite a 3lb rise for a cosy win over today's distance at Kempton, while Mildyjama won off a higher mark at Kempton at this time last year and is preferred to Polar Princess of the remaining pair.

Three-year -olds OVERTURE and Alacrity are going the right way and are expected to fight out the finish, with preference for the first-named, who looks to have the most potential of the pair. Mildyjama should give her running.

Preference is for ALACRITY who is 2-3 on the AW and her game success at Kempton last time suggested there may still be more to come.

APOSTLE appeared to have plenty in hand when getting off the mark over this trip at Chelmsford last week and a 6lb penalty for that success may still vastly underestimate this unexposed daughter of Ulysses. Grey Owl has made the frame on his last couple of starts and is likely to be in the mix once again, while similar comments apply to Buxted Reel and Fravanco.

It'll be a surprise if there isn't more to come from last week's Chelmsford scorer APOSTLE, who can make light of a 6 lb penalty. Grey Owl and Buxted Reel can battle it out for minor honours behind Sir Mark Prescott's filly.

Provided she's as effective back on turf, Chelmsford winner APOSTLE seems set to progress further. Grey Owl is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
