(9) Noble Phoenix 250/1, Poor again when finishing down the field in a handicap over 8f at Chepstow most recently; tongue-tie applied for the first time; showed minor promise at two but yet to display any form at three and appears to have lost enthusiasm.
Became disappointing for Andrew Balding and finished last in both starts for new stable.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Sarah Bowen and Tony Carroll teamed up to land this last year with Pride Of Nepal, who merits the utmost respect from just 1lb above that winning mark. Bohemian Breeze has remained in good form since scoring over 1m2f here last month and must enter calculations, but preference is for SEA OF CHARM. A C&D winner in May, the mare arrives having completed a Windsor/Ffos Las double recently and would appear to boast strong credentials again. Irezumi is also noted.

Nearly all bring reasonable place claims at the least but PRIDE OF NEPAL, last year's winner, is narrowly preferred.

(13) Raindance Queen 66/1, Improved on recent form when fourth, beaten 16l in a handicap chase here last time; off a short break and worth stepping up in trip.
One of her better runs over C&D last time but she's even further out of the handicap today.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

King Of The Story is bidding to complete a hat-trick over C&D and, based on his latest success, he holds every chance off an 8lb higher rating. However, JUST CHASING MAY made a pleasing return to action when scoring in comfortable fashion over the smaller obstacles here in June and as long as the six-year-old transfers that form to fences, he could prove hard to beat. Isocrate isn't out of it either.

Cases can be made for several of these but KING OF THE STORY has impressed here on his last two starts and can complete a C&D hat-trick.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

CALAFIORI has yet to hit the target having struck the woodwork a number of times, including at Bath latest, but he may not find many better opportunities than this. Connections now opt for first-time cheekpieces and should they elicit even the slightest improvement, he will take all the beating. Newcomer Solar Invincible is related to five winners and appeals as one of the likelier dangers, while Sharpness completes the shortlist.

With the form standard ordinary and Calafiori looking risky, attractively bred newcomer SOLAR INVINCIBLE gets the vote.

ENDORSEMENT ran a nice race behind stablemate Benvenuto Cellini on his introduction at Killarney and can step forward to open his account. The Wootton Bassett colt was no match for the odds-on winner that day, but showed plenty of promise himself. He can confirm his superiority over the third-placed Limestone, who would appear to be Joseph O'Brien's main hope on jockey bookings. Ballydoyle are represented by another horse who showed a nice bit on debut in Christmas Day. He was a promising third at Galway and is another who should improve from the experience.

A hot maiden with ENDORSEMENT the pick in what's likely to prove an informative race

FAITQUE DE L'ISLE hosed up in this class over 3m at Ludlow in February and now makes his return to the fray. The veteran has a 9lb higher mark to contend with but if James Evans' charge is in similar form, he could be the one to beat. Henry Box Brown has occupied the runner-up berth over 2m4f here the last twice and is unexposed over this distance, so he has to be respected. Grillon De Monty is the pick of the remainder.

Having bumped into the subsequently prolific Jack Sparrow Grey when runner-up in April on his last chase run, IVANE earns the vote.

Below par at Kempton before benefitting from a return to turf in first-time cheekpieces at Chepstow, HIGHLIGHTING must now shoulder a 6lb penalty. That will undoubtedly make things tougher for the daughter of Showcasing, but a few of her rivals arrive with something to prove and she might be up to the task. Isthatu finished back in fifth that day but she ought to appreciate a step up in trip so must enter calculations, along with the consistent Redditizio, who is another to come out of that same contest (third).

Monday's Chepstow winner HIGHLIGHTING might again take care of Isthatu and Redditizio. Excelerate is an alternative.

That was a step forward from his first run at the Curragh and the Persian King colt looks the one to beat now back in maiden company. The others to have run need to improve to figure. Anushka is interesting on her official debut. She was third in a barrier trial back in May and the horse who was fourth in that, Dial Me In, won at Leopardstown. Colin Keane rides newcomer Madbadanddangerous for Noel Meade and he's one to note in the market.

My Boy Jack hasn't finished outside the top three in any of his last seven outings, most recently when third at Salisbury, and is likely to be thereabouts. Provided he is back to his best, the five-year-old will be hard to beat in a race that should be run to suit. Hurricane Ivor, who was less than a length behind the selection in that aforementioned race in the spring, has every chance at these weights. Having posted some creditable efforts in defeat in Ireland, DREAM DIAMOND makes plenty of appeal now with James Owen. A repeat of the five-year-old's latest third at Wexford could prove strong enough in these calmer waters and a breakthrough victory may beckon. Fellow stable debutant Mount Anglesby has been running well between the flags this year and, despite this distance looking on the sharp side, is feared most, ahead of smart Flat performer Penzance.

Preference is for DREAM DIAMOND on his first run for James Owen. He sets a solid standard on his Irish form.

Lunanova was unable to complete the hat-trick when third at Ffos Las, but that was still a fair effort and she has to be considered. However, KRACKING possibly went off too hard in front before fading into third at Yarmouth last week and is a C&D winner. The five-year-old lurks on an appealing rating and could be the way to go. H Key Lails is another to keep an eye on.

The shortlist comprises the interesting 3yos LUNANOVA, Towerlands and Dragonflame, preferred in that order.

The progressive COPACABANA SANDS can complete a three-timer. A Listed winner at Naas in May, the Michael O'Callaghan-trained filly stepped up to this grade when following up at Leopardstown and is hard to get away from. UK raider Celestial Orbit was runner-up in the Nell Gwyn prior to struggling in the French Guineas. However, now eased in class and dropped back in trip, the Ollie Sangster-trained filly has to be a contender. Galway handicap winner Princess Child will need to improve again, but has to be respected.

Progressive in winning at Naas and Leopardstown, COPACABANA SANDS may have too much firepower for Celestial Orbit

DROMBEG LAD should have learned plenty from his second-placed hurdles bow at Uttoxeter last month and any improvement might make him tough to beat. Alex Hales' charge was caught too far back and should enjoy this long straight. Washpool arrives on the back of his best effort under Rules to date when finishing third over C&D and can make his presence felt once more, while market support for dual point-to-point winner Slievehill would be interesting.

Course bumper runner-up DROMBEG LAD was also second on his hurdle debut at Uttoxeter and is taken to go one better.

Oj Lifestyle has won twice at Brighton and can go close off this mark, but SHAW PARK is preferred. Revolutionise picked up more minor money when third at Epsom, but he may have to settle for another place.

Lightly raced EZRA CEE (nap) is particularly interesting. Last year's one-two Revolutionise and Dion Baker warrant respect.

TWO STARS can make a successful return under Joey Sheridan. A lightly-raced gelding, the Fozzy Stack-trained five-year-old had been ultra-consistent in handicaps before stepping up to win a Listed race at Naas in April. Although absent since, this progressive sprinter has won off similar breaks in the past. Well drawn towards the stands side, he should get a nice tow into the race. Powerful Nation needs to put a disappointing Curragh run behind him, but has every chance if doing so. The Andrew Slattery-trained colt remains an unexposed sprinter at this level. US import Fandom is of obvious interest on his stable debut for Joseph O'Brien.

If forgiven a tame effort in a Group 2 race at the Curragh in July, POWERFUL NATION has a strong chance in this grade

A switch to handicaps off a lowly mark did the trick for CINDERELLO when opening her account at Uttoxeter last month. The five-year-old displayed a willing attitude and she looks more than capable of defying a 4lb rise. Noble Recall lost little in defeat when finding only a handicap blot too strong over 2m4f here and he could prove a live threat if seeing out the trip. Pooroldmackley is the pick of the remainder.

Clearly the most solid option is CINDERELLO (nap) who launched a strong late challenge to win her handicap debut over an extended 2m7f.

ALSHIMALI won over C&D earlier in the month off 5lb lower and although beaten since when third at Windsor, he missed the start and was hampered before weakening close home. Dropped back in trip at a course he handles, he might make amends. Dreambird Dolly could go well as she looks for a first victory, although Barnsnape Boy appears more interesting after his Lingfield success off 3lb lower.

The maiden UPPER HAND is taken to get off the mark. Alshimali is second pick.

JASMINE AFFANALIS is a half-sister to her yard's juvenile winner Gavoo and, crucially given a wet forecast, handles easy ground. She met trouble at Limerick in July, with that run coming between two useful runner-up efforts. She is up another 2lb, but her rider claims 7lb. Shuyak is headstrong but although her form figures are modest, she has shown promise. She met traffic at Down Royal in June and hung badly at Dundalk the following month, but was better behaved when ridden from off the pace at Gowran. She can progress stepping up in trip but is unproven on soft. Petite Madame finished second in an ordinary handicap here recently.

With two seconds to her name this season JASMINE AFFANALIS makes most appeal in a race of modest standard

Polish import GLADY EAGLE debuts for Willie Mullins and has a proven ability to handle soft going. Irish-bred and out of a German Listed winner, the entire's form is difficult to decode but he has won twice on easy ground. While tailed off on his latest run at Sluzewiec in July 2024, he races for Hipop De Loire's owner and Colin Keane is a notable booking. Soft-ground performer Plunkett Street returns following a midsummer break and was just denied in an ordinary C&D handicap in May. Lady Kai unseated her rider leaving the stalls at Leopardstown and although she has proven form at this level, she would prefer good ground.

There is some merit in opposing Glady Eagle with PLUNKETT STREET who should be suited by any easing in the ground

Quick Of The Night has course form with two wins over two miles, but she hasn't seen out this trip in the past and might have to settle for a place. LAST NOTE has to give weight away all round, but she took well to a hood at Market Rasen when second in a race she might have won barring a mistake at the last and she looks the one to beat now. Ballyhiho is another to consider.

With so many stumbling blocks among her rivals' credentials, it may well be that LAST NOTE can make this a winning handicap debut.
