Mission Possible intrigues ahead of her handicap debut for William Haggas after running on into third at Ffos Las over shorter, with a mark of 69 potentially underestimating her true ability after only three starts. The Crafty Mole stayed on well to win over this trip at Newmarket and a 3lb rise may not stop a big run, but PERGAMON gets the vote. Third at Doncaster in July, he has won over further on the Flat and over hurdles, and won't mind the forecast rainfall either.

Top of the list are PERGAMON and The Crafty Mole, while there are several sources of possible improvement for Mission Possible.

Walsingham registered a brace of wins at Pontefract in July and the low-mileage five-year-old could still be feasibly treated from a mark of 81. At the weights, however, last year's runner-up SHALADAR looks well worth chancing. Running off 9lb lower and on the back of a Carlisle near-miss, Kevin Ryan's six-year-old makes strong appeal. Terries Royale shaded the selection by a neck 12 months ago, but is 7lb higher and his absence since October could be compromising.

Plenty to consider but REVICH has shown enough of late to suggest he's about to cash in on this reduced mark.

QUEENSWORTHY looked set to mount her challenge when falling three out at Uttoxeter in June and this appeals as an ideal opportunity to gain compensation. Intosomethinggood's winning run came to an end when runner-up at Market Rasen but he is expected to be thereabouts again, along with Old Bridge, who has been steadily working his way closer to the winner's enclosure.

One line of form suggests there might not be much between INTOSOMETHINGGOOD and Queensworthy. Preference for the former is marginal.

The going will be an unknown for many of these if the forecast rain gets in the ground, but if LYRICS OF LIFE takes to it, the Newmarket second could come out on top. Running on well over this distance to be beaten a length at the line, any further progress would make her tough to beat. Legacy Link showed some promise when third in the same race at HQ and she can have a say, while Nanoscience is one of the more interesting newcomers.

The difference between them may be less this time but LYRICS OF LIFE gets the vote ahead of the superbly bred Legacy Link.

As a full-brother to the superstar Baaeed and dual Group 1 winner Hukum, there can be little doubt RAAHEEB carries the weight of expectation. However, that pedigree is too hard to ignore and this could be an ideal introduction for the son of Sea The Stars, who holds a Royal Lodge entry. Behike, who cost 500,000gns as a yearling, and Norman Invasion - a 480,000 breeze-up purchase - are other fascinating newcomers in this mouthwatering maiden.

Behike & Norman Invasion are respected but it's hard not to be seduced by the introduction of Baaeed & Hukum's brother RAAHEEB.

BAIKAL is in good form at present and a 6lb rise for his most recent success at Newton Abbot may not be enough to prevent him from landing the hat-trick over hurdles. Stepping up in trip seems likely to suit Buxted Reel for his in-form stable, while Zamond looks the pick of Donald McCain's trio with Brian Hughes in the saddle.

Upped in distance off what remains a handy mark judged on Flat form, BUXTED REEL is preferred. Justlikefire is second choice.

Zarzyni is due to go up 3lb for future races after going under by a neck at Beverley last month and, as he stays further and should handle any cut in the ground, he can get involved at the finish. However, GLORY FIGHTER won with plenty in hand at Catterick and a 4lb penalty might not be enough to stop him following up. He appears versatile ground-wise, while Hedge Fund could do better in a first-time hood.

The filly TAYGAR (nap) ran well on fast ground at Ayr last time and this week's rain has been a positive. Hedge Fund is feared.

El Vamos and Shetalkstoangels were expensive yearlings and the betting should be informative where they are concerned. However, MANEUVER, who outstripped them both with her 600,000gns purchase price as a yearling, should be a good deal wiser after her debut at Kempton. Forced to race wide throughout, her effort was commendable given her lack of experience and the daughter of Sea The Stars could be tough to repel this time.

As regards the runners with experience, Fillies' Mile entry MANEUVER holds the best chance ahead of Too Hot To Tango.

A veteran at the age of 11, NORTHERN BOUND has shown that he retains plenty of ability with his performances over the past year and this appeals as a solid opportunity to notch up his 11th career success. Ben Pauling's charge is narrowly preferred to recent Stratford winner Magistrato, who drops in grade and has been raised 4lb for that success. Gwennie May Star could improve for wind surgery and cannot be ruled out either.

It's hard to dismiss any of the five. WHODINI should be all the sharper for his comeback run over hurdles and is on a good mark.

PIXIE DIVA has shown enough in a couple of starts in handicaps to suggest she can win off her current mark. She followed a good effort at Doncaster with another solid second over the minimum trip at Newcastle and George Scott's filly is taken to edge out Educating Rita. The latter bounced back to form when finishing a close third at Hamilton, while Spoof could find himself in contention in this lower grade.

The ex-Godolphin 3yo Corolla Point is a fascinating contender but preference is for SEVENSEES, who has been showing promise.

WATCHA SNOOP bumped into a useful gelding when second on his debut at Newmarket. The son of Coulsty looks sure to progress for a yard among the winners recently and, with the likelihood that he should handle any cut in the ground, he can go one place better. Hungarian wasn't disgraced in a valuable sales contest on the July Course and must enter calculations, while support for any of the newcomers, perhaps most notably Hvar, should be taken seriously.

The standard is jointly set by WATCHA SNOOP and Hungarian. As regards the newcomers, heed the market signals.

Mickey Bowen's nine-year-old struggled on the level a couple of days later, but will prove hard to beat back over fences. Pull Again Green struck at Market Rasen to supplement a Worcester victory and is likely to be thereabouts again off only a 3lb higher rating. Presentandcounting completes the shortlist.

The good times could continue for ART OF DIPLOMACY who was well on top at the finish in his final jumps race at Uttoxeter.

REMI MAE found the 7f trip beyond her at Newmarket on debut. However, the daughter of Invincible Spirt showed plenty of early pace before tiring in the closing stages and this drop in distance looks the logical move. Yorkshire Queen is another back in trip after staying on strongly for second over 7f at Musselburgh, while Lightning Polka is a half-sister to a Group 3 winner and makes most appeal of the newcomers.

This could go to one of the Sheikh Mohammed Obaid newcomers. Preference is for KARVALA ahead of Vencedora.

He finished third on his only previous hurdles run last October, so can progress and contests an ordinary race. Backwithyourown has shown bits of form, but should struggle to beat the selection. Dual point-to-point winner Carry On Heidi returns following a summer break, but might prefer further.

Guillaume is the pick of the remainder.

With the form of his two wins at Uttoxeter having worked out encouragingly, MONTICELLO (nap) looks good for the hat-trick.

Tongue-tied for the first time having been far from disgraced in the Anglesey at the Curragh, KILLOURNEY REIGNS sets a useful standard. The Ten Sovereigns colt arguably faces his easiest assignment to date and is expected to take all the beating. Baker Blue and The Right One have both proven consistent and they could take advantage should the selection underperform. Bad Boy Rizz, whose latest performance was full of promise, is another to consider.

This may be a good chance for KILLOURNEY REIGNS who wasn't disgraced in Group company last time and he should relish the drop in class

A maiden handicap winner at Carlisle, Believe In Lies could prove competitive off 2lb higher, but SPIRIT OF JENNY makes most appeal. Steph Hollinshead's filly finished a resolute third off today's mark at Newmarket on her handicap bow and that form looks stronger in hindsight given the winner has subsequently gone in again.

The 3yo SPIRIT OF JENNY was a promising third on her handicap debut at Newmarket last month and is taken to get off the mark.

Sean Bowen keeps the partnership intact and Olly Murphy's seven-year-old can follow up off just 1lb higher. Hobie overcame a long absence to score over hurdles here, and cutting back from 2m4f helps counter a 6lb higher mark. Auntie Maggie and Lord Maher complete the shortlist.

This looks good for TRAVELING SOLDIER, who was nudged up only 1lb for his breakthrough win at Market Rasen and still has low mileage.

MIC DROP has in-and-out form, but is useful on his day. A bumper winner last November, he disappointed on a previous handicap run in January but then finished ahead of Jerrari when runner-up at Bellewstown in April. He is forgiven his Tramore disappointment as that was his chasing debut and he can compete if at his best. Jerrari, out of an unraced half-sister to Jezki, progressed well this summer until beaten at Tramore recently but, being a well-bred five-year-old, might step forward. Ballykinlar has won three times recently, but might not be suited by dropping back in distance.

Balmacara looked to be coming back to form when third at Sandown in June and he won't mind the softer surface, but EBT'S GUARD is preferred. Upped 2lb for his success at the Shergar Cup meeting here, he is equally effective on this sort of going and seems to be improving. Theoryofeverything is back for seconds after winning this last season off 5lb lower, but he may have to settle for a place.

Ebt's Guard continues to progres but this can go to a 3yo, with HIGH DEGREE making most appeal of that age group.

Matchless failed to land the four-timer when second at Perth, but that was still a fair effort and he should remain competitive. However, HALIFAX is a C&D winner who bounced back to form when hitting the woodwork at Market Rasen and is just 1lb higher. With a similar performance, he could be the one to beat. Last-time-out Uttoxeter scorer Supreme Yeats is another to consider.

Most of these have chances but bHALIFAX\p got himself back on track when only conceding late on at Market Rasen. He's on a good mark.

Arklow Lad could surprise in a first-time tongue-tie now dropping back down in trip after weakening late on over 6f at the Curragh. SHADOW OF THE MOON looks the likelier winner, though, following her second to the odds-on Stella Alpina at Tipperary, with the first two clear of the remainder and with room for further improvement on her third start. Titan Sun was second in a Cork handicap last month and is also of interest returning to maiden company.

This can go the way of SHADOW OF THE MOON (nap) who pulled clear with a rival in a maiden last month and there should be more to come

An open contest in which Ata Rangi, who arrives having struck the woodwork at York last time, is likely to prove popular. However, a chance can be taken on MOSTAR DREAMS. A cosy winner over slightly further here before finding all sorts of trouble on the Knavesmire latest, Jim Goldie's charge looks certain to go close given a clear run this time around. Quest For Fun forced a dead-heat for top honours last time and remains well treated from 3lb higher, while Bishop's Crown is another name to note.

Being in receipt of weight from the rest is an added bonus. Harrys Hope is very consistent and can make this a good test for the suggestion. Recent C&D winner Almazhar Garde also has a major chance, despite a 5lb rise.

Thriving in points and under rules this year, JET SMART is taken to record his fifth consecutive win.

DOLCE N' MILANA showed some promise on last month's debut appearance and should improve. Although she finished well held in fifth at Tramore, her jumping was novicey and stepping up in distance should help. She is related to smart types, including former top staying hurdler More Of That. Minella Supreme has shown useful bumper form this summer and while he has point-to-pointing experience, fell on his recent hurdling debut. He was leading and in strong contention then, but concedes plenty of weight now. Itsallinthegenes and Chantilly Wings have shown ability.

The nod goes to DOLCE N' MILANA who had a modest debut last time but has a quality pedigree and looks suited by the longer trip

SEA SUITE is due to go up 4lb after last week's Sandown second so has to be taken seriously off his old mark and, as he was forced to race wider than he would have liked, that effort can be marked up a fraction. Excellent Echo is looking for his hat-trick after wins at Leicester and Chepstow and he escapes a penalty for Tuesday's triumph in Wales. Law Of Design won here last year and could also go close.

Sandown runner-up SEA SUITE (nap) could well go one better. Law Of Design is second pick, ahead of Tactical Plan.

While it's true both can pay their way when they go handicapping, the former has shown a decent level of consistency in four previous starts and the daughter of Profitable shades the vote. Pliny and Eleven A are closely matched based on their Leopardstown encounter and each could improve. Green Citation and Talitha are appealing newcomers to keep an eye on.

Now two from three in handicaps following a narrow success at Newmarket a fortnight ago, the Saxon Warrior colt might find further progress in first-time cheekpieces. Pappa Louis' turn looks near having filled the runner-up spot on his last two starts, and handicap debutant Gnomon should benefit from a return to turf.

His second-placed finish at Perth last month reads well and a small step forward could suffice for the Irish raider. Usyk also filled the runner-up berth at Market Rasen most recently and is another going the right way. The betting can guide regarding newcomers such as Blinded By Grace and Asta La Vista.

The one to beat is probably SAXON CROSS, who was second to a subsequent hurdle winner at Perth three weeks ago.

A seven-time winner, the hardy veteran's rating has dropped again recently, having been well held, but he is a strong stayer on good ground, with his rider's 7lb claim another tick in his box. Quarry Tiepy debuts in handicaps rated just 90 for Willie Mullins. A winning pointer, she should progress at this distance but might not beat The Little Yank. The four-year-old Georginas Jet has been running well and could be suited by the extra yardage.

SLIM MARVEL was noted running on over 2m4f at Sligo last time and can notch another course win up in trip.

Ho My Lord has been running to a consistent and reasonable level over fences recently, but appears vulnerable to the unexposed selection. The lightly-raced Ocean Of Mercy won easily over hurdles at Ballinrobe, but drops back in distance for his chase debut.

Raised 5lb for a taking success at Tramore last month, The Truant must enter calculations, while Sir Callisto has the potential to improve for the steep rise in distance. Course winner Empress Alma is another to note, as are Alba Chiara and Grappa Nonino.

SIXTY PLUS has been a revelation recently, with last month's Market Rasen triumph supplementing a C&D brace. Although he has been raised another 11lb, he won with enough authority to suggest he could make all once more. Tamarind Bay caught the eye with a two-length third here on his first start since January and he may prove a bigger danger than the dropped-in-class Castel Gandolfo.

The handicapper will implode if Sixty Plus goes in again and maybe TRANQUIL SEA can ride to the rescue on his stable debut.

Both of NAS NA RIOGH's wins under Rules have come at this distance and he has shown useful recent form. A dual hurdles winner last year, he was well beaten in his initial chase runs but returned to form at Wexford in April before finishing a useful third at the Galway Festival. He competes from the same rating and his rider now claims 5lb. Nine-time winner A Wave Of The Sea has shown useful recent C&D form and, with his rider also claiming 5lb, he should compete. Caesar Rock scored a belated first chase win last month and has form at this sort of distance.

NAS NA RIOGH was a close third at Galway last time over shorter but won over this trip hurdling so can take this.

The key to this race could be the clash at Nottingham between GREAT MATES (second) and Invisible (third), with Michael Wigham's filly taken to get off the mark on this occasion. She had previously been an unlucky third on debut at Yarmouth and can confirm her superiority, however marginal, over her chief rival. Bella's Path offered encouragement when fourth at Windsor, while Crystal Dagger has been runner-up on both career outings so has to go on the shortlist.

There are a few to consider but it could be worth siding with BELLA'S PATH, who ran well in a race which has been franked on debut

It's hard to ignore the claims of AREANA. The six-year-old sported first-time blinkers on her first start for the Hartys at Naas and bolted up. Even a 9lb rise might underestimate the level of authority she displayed that day and the daughter of Pride Of Dubai will prove a tough nut to crack. Evangelic makes his handicap/stable debut after showing ability in his four career starts, so he is one to watch out for. Of the remainder, God Knows makes the most appeal.

JUST CHASING MAY has turned a corner of late, winning over 2m4f at this venue in June before following up over fences here last weekend. Ben Pauling's charge reverts to hurdles from 9lb higher than that previous timber triumph, but it might not be enough to stop the in-form gelding. The application of first-time cheekpieces could elicit some improvement from The Flying Poet, who enters calculations along with Rubys Legacy.

The Flying Poet can likely do better but JUST CHASING MAY won't get to run off this mark for a while and is hard to get away from.

WARTIME LEADER returned following a 566-day layoff when performing well at the recent Galway Festival. Flat-bred and out of a Group 2-winning mare, he initially cost 200,000gns as a yearling and having run well on his belated bumper debut in January 2024, returned with a useful effort at Galway. That form is strong and he might just confirm his authority over Red Oak, who finished four and a quarter lengths away and ran well to finish second here a fortnight ago. Point-to-point winner St Lawrence's Well also offered encouragement wearing at hood at Cork.

However, MISCHIEF MAN is 2lb lower than for his third at Cork and may prove to be the better handicapped of the pair. Recent Navan winner Share The Treasure should make her presence felt once more, while Walnut Beach might appreciate a return to this distance.

Jorah failed to reel in the in-form Gordon Grey over C&D in June but makes considerable appeal from the foot of the handicap, while An Bradan Feasa returns to hurdles on a competitive mark and is worth noting with Sean Bowen booked to ride. However, it is SCINTILLANTE who shades preference. The dual C&D winner was beaten just a neck into second over track and trip in July and compensation could await, despite a 3lb rise.

This can go to AN BRADAN FEASA (nap) who has had a good spell on the Flat of late and returns to hurdles off a reduced mark.

AL KHAWSSAA appreciated the application of a first-time hood when filling the runner-up spot in this class over track and trip and Roger Varian's filly might only need to reproduce that level of form in order to defy her 2lb rise. Signcastle City made the frame over a mile at Chelmsford and lurks on an appealing rating, while Warm Spell is another to keep an eye on.

This can go to AL KHAWSSAA, who showed improved form on only her second handicap start over C&D last time and she should do better

ARNAZ has let down favourite-backers on four of his five starts this campaign, but he is generally consistent and hasn't been far away from the action at all. His moderate all-weather record consists of his first three career outings in maiden company, so it isn't really fair to judge him on that, and he is worth sticking with. Starproof wasn't beaten too far when attempting to supplement a Ffos Las triumph at Newmarket, and she had the beating of Hierarchy in Wales.

This can go to well-handicapped DAPPER VALLEY (nap) on his second start for a new yard. Hierarchy may be next best.

Having found only a progressive rival too strong at Leicester last month, SHARP DISTINCTION ticks plenty of the right boxes. A 2lb higher mark for the six-year-old appears workable and he looks more than capable of scoring at this level. Nivelle's Magic has posted two creditable efforts in defeat since landing the spoils at Ffos Las and she is forecast to be in the mix once more, along with Queen's Company.

This is not a field to inspire great confidence but there's renewed hope for SHARP DISTINCTION after the close call on his latest start.
