33/1(+50%) | (2) Blue Vixen 33/1, Modest well beaten in a maiden at Kempton only start; sire smart sprinter; open to improvement, but needs to settle. |

Ferrystream should find this easier than her latest fourth in a class 2 contest at Newbury and an official rating of 80 represents a fair standard. However, shouldering a 7lb penalty could leave her vulnerable, and LIZZIE BENNET gets the vote. Kevin Ryan's inmate posted a promising second on her debut at Carlisle and should have learned plenty from that experience. Market confidence behind newcomers From Afar and La Torre would be noteworthy.

10/1(+0%) | (3) Wreck It Ronnie 10/1, Similar level to debut well beaten in a novice at Kempton latest; effective 11/12f, acts on AW; looks the one most likely to follow favourite home.

3rd (2) (33/1 +18%)Dream Of Albion |
33/1(+18%) | (2) Dream Of Albion 33/1, Poor debut well beaten in a maiden at Kempton only start; bred for 8f+; major improvement needed. |

This appears to be an excellent opportunity for NAJIDI STORM to follow up his debut success at Kempton under a 7lb penalty. A full-brother to St Leger winner Logician, he got the better of Gavriel, who gave the form a decent boost at Ascot on Saturday and now heads the betting for the Cambridgeshire. The other pair have a lot to find, with Wreck It Ronnie preferred to Dream Of Albion in the battle for second.

8th (5) (17/2 -55%)Inkjet |
17/2(-55%) | (5) Inkjet 17/2, 4 Feb; 170,000gns Blue Point colt; half-brother to a few winners, including Forever In Dreams, top-class at 6f, and National Gallery, useful from 6f to 10f; top trainer; capable of knowing job on debut.
9th (10) (18/1 +10%)Waqqad |
18/1(+10%) | (10) Waqqad 18/1, 30 Apr; £60,000 breeze-up purchase by Havana Grey; half-brother to several winners, including Penelope Queen, very useful at 5f, and Torn, useful at 7f; dam useful at 6f; top trainer; worth a market check on debut. |

A half-brother to three winners, most notably Listed winner Forever In Dreams, INKJET might take some stopping on his introduction. William Haggas' newcomer ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and a debut victory would come as no surprise. Iwasjustsaying impressed when scoring on his first start at Doncaster and will be out to put his experience to good use, along with Talamon and Astabuen.

9/1(-6%) | (6) Lady Titania 9/1, Ran to form beaten 8l in a novice at Chester last time; sire high-class sprinter, dam speedily-bred; could raise her game significantly now handicapping.
8th (8) (22/1 -22%)Steamy Wonder |
22/1(-22%) | (8) Steamy Wonder 22/1, Below form ridden from front well beaten in a maiden at Wolverhampton latest; blinkers first time; trainer in form; sire smart 7/8f, dam unraced; needs a lot more now but drop in trip a plus. |

AURA OF MELANIA has been knocking hard on the door the last twice, both here and at Ripon, and Roger Fell's juvenile is going to win a nursery of this nature sooner rather than later. She has clearly improved for dropping back to 6f and gets a confident vote. Of the others, keep a close eye on Cheeky Chesca and Mick's The Boy.

11/10(-79%) | (6) Quicken Away 11/10, Yard has won 2 of last 9 runnings of race; showed promise after a sluggish start, penny dropped late, should have won when runner-up beaten a neck in a maiden at Newbury only start; top course jockey/trainer combination; effective 8f on good to firm; big player here with progress expected.
2nd (7) (11/1 -10%)Royal Acclamation |
11/1(-10%) | (7) Royal Acclamation 11/1, Some promise when third beaten 12l in a maiden at Lingfield debut; effective 8f on AW; trainer in form, also represented by Al Jabbar.

5th (9) (16/1 +36%)Surrey Bolt |
16/1(+36%) | (9) Surrey Bolt 16/1, 25 Feb; 65,000gns New Bay colt, out of a Frankel mare; yard can ready one, worth a market check.
6th (4) (20/1 +20%)Momentsofsurrender |
20/1(+20%) | (4) Momentsofsurrender 20/1, 9 Feb; 135,000gns Starspangledbanner colt; half-brother to Constant Comment, very useful from 7/8f; dam smart at 12f; respected on debut for good connections.
7th (3) (66/1 -65%)Lead The Squad |
66/1(-65%) | (3) Lead The Squad 66/1, Too keen and needed run beaten 10l in a novice at Doncaster on debut; bred for middle-distances; capable of better if settling. |

Noble Traveller made a promising start when just denied in a valuable conditions race for newcomers at Deauville and the booking of Ryan Moore enhances his credentials. That said, there was plenty to like about QUICKEN AWAY's debut when beaten a neck at Newbury after showing signs of inexperience. The son of Frankel made up a lot of ground in the closing stages and is marginally preferred. Speyside is better judged on his third here rather than his showing in the Convivial at York, while any market support for newcomer Momentsofsurrender would make him of significant interest.

10/3(-21%) | (2) Jinman 10/3, Poor, lacked finishing pace beaten 9l in a maiden at Sandown on debut; trainer in form; bred to be suited by around a mile; nicely bred colt, but improvement needed and probably needs slightly further.
4th (5) (14/1 +65%)Oldbullyoungbull |
14/1(+65%) | (5) Oldbullyoungbull 14/1, 12 Feb; 70,000gns Blue Point colt; half-brother to Better And Better, very useful at 6f; dam, Petalite, fair at 7f; not ruled out entirely on debut, worth a market check.
5th (4) (10/1 -33%)Muhandes |

11/1(+21%) | (9) Sterling Cooper 11/1, 25 Feb; 50,000 euros Advertise colt; dam, Cat Horizon, very useful at 8f at 2yo; top trainer; not without a chance on debut.
8th (8) (300/1 -140%)Solar Mission |
300/1(-140%) | (8) Solar Mission 300/1, Showed very little well beaten in a novice at Wolverhampton only start; sire top-class around a mile, dam 8f winner; looked unsuited by sprint trip, plenty more needed stepping up in distance.
9th (1) (6/1 +0%)Cites |
6/1(+0%) | (1) Cites 6/1, Poor, didn't see out the trip well beaten in a novice at Kempton only start; top course jockey; sire smart 6/7f, dam useful for middle distances; could have more to come over this shorter trip, and should be a capable of better, but improvement needed. |

Having finished third on his debut at Epsom, Palace Legacy was somewhat underwhelming when eighth at Sandown latest. It is too early to be writing off the Palace Pier colt, but MAGIC HARRY looks the one to be with. Tom Clover's colt offered plenty to work with when third over 6f at Pontefract on debut and this step up in distance may prove just the ticket. Muhandes and Sterling Cooper are the pick of the newcomers.

10/3(+26%) | (5) Triple P 10/3, Yard won this last year; improved from debut down to 6f 8l third in a novice at Newcastle most recent run; top course trainer; effective 6f on AW; needs more again, others stronger.

There are a few in here who are beginning to look a bit exposed, but Queen Sana gets first-time cheekpieces now and Stoneacre Joe is tried in blinkers. You can add Apex Star to that list, and perhaps the safe play is PERSIAN GATE, who improved from his first to second run when going down by a head in third at Chepstow.

SORRENGAIL got off the mark at Ascot on her second attempt before pulling too hard when beaten less than a length at Newbury. The application of a hood is likely to calm her down and the extra furlong is likely to bring about improvement based on her pedigree. Al Samsama made a winning debut at the Berkshire venue in July and is likely to step forward for going up in trip, while China In Your Hand is capable of bouncing back after a below-par effort in the Sweet Solera at Newmarket.

14/1(-75%) | (4) Bossy Angel 14/1, Below form beaten 5l in a maiden at Chepstow last time; unsuited by sprinting so far, all starts on good to firm; worth noting stepping up in trip on handicap debut.
10th (9) (25/1 -56%)Coul Blue |
25/1(-56%) | (9) Coul Blue 25/1, Improved back up in trip 3l third in a maiden at Musselburgh most recent run; cheekpieces first time; bred to get 7f, all runs on good ground; likely more to come now handicapping. |

FORTUNATE improved for a step up in distance when opening her account at Lingfield last month and there could be more to come. Eve Johnson Houghton's filly scored with enough in hand to suggest that she can win off this mark and edges the vote over Kempton runner-up Perfect Hope. The daughter of Perfect Power is heading in the right direction and isn't taken lightly, while nursery debutant Coul Blue could feature too.

14/1(-65%) | (5) Taygar 14/1, Lacked pace beaten 5l in a handicap at Redcar last time; effective 5/6f, acts on a sound surface; not at best last twice, respected on earlier efforts. |

GIANT's nose was just in front at Brighton last month and Ian Williams' charge is taken to go in again now confidence has been restored. The drop back to 6f clearly helped him last time and connections have found their gelding another very winnable opening. Methgal arrives in good nick and cannot be overlooked, while Battenburg Belle should also be thereabouts.

A tough handicap for punters to solve and a tentative vote is for JAX EDGE, who showed a lot more when second at Nottingham and has a big chance if building on that improved effort. Over Spiced performed well here 11 days ago when grabbing second ahead of the reopposing Kiss And Run and both are respected, as is Spring Bloom.

SERGEANT MAYER appreciated the drop back to this trip when scoring at Nottingham and connections have found their charge another very winnable opening. This won't take much winning and the five-year-old can double up at the main expense of Staniel Cay, who is holding his form well. Similar sentiments apply to Act Of Violence and he too can get involved.

9th (5) (33/1 -288%)Pit Boss |

Pit Boss scores highly for consistency but might just be vulnerable in here switching to turf on the back of a break. With that in mind, C&D scorer DREAM DEAL might be a safer bet and Tim Easterby's charge can leave a moderate Beverley performance behind back on better ground. It's also worth considering Ideal Guest and One Of Our Own.

5th (4) (200/1 -100%)Lamar River |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Lamar River 200/1, Showed little promise again comfortably held in a maiden at Dundalk last time; sire a sprinter, bit more stamina on dam's side; big gelding, has looked outclassed both starts. |

CITY OF GOLD has shown nice ability in two starts and can give Aidan O'Brien a fifth success in a row in this particular maiden. A 400,000-euro yearling and out of a Listed winner, the son of Wootton Bassett met trouble on his debut and while well held in second at the Festival here in July, that race's winner is smart and finished third in the Acomb at York. Stablemate Noble Exhibit has a fine pedigree but appears to be second-string on jockey bookings. He nonetheless ran well in a Curragh maiden last month and should build on that. Leadlight is rated 80 and is vulnerable to potentially capable types, while the well-related Aladdin's Cave should benefit from this introduction.

Buoyed by their recent victory in the Kentucky Turf Cup, Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris can enjoy more success here courtesy of SYNERGISM, who can be forgiven one lacklustre effort at Ascot based on the strength of his previous form, and he also gets first-time cheekpieces. Manxman is entitled to have come forward for his comeback spin at York and is noted along with Sax Appeal.

22/1(+21%) | (4) Brazen Idol 22/1, Below form switched back to AW down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recent; effective 5/6f, acts on sound surface; on a competitive mark, but struggling for consistency. |

VALENTINE CATCHER is going to win a race of this nature sooner rather than later judged on placed efforts the last twice at Carlisle and Hamilton. Not beaten far when third at the latter venue last week, the quick turnaround suggests he's come out of that race in good form and the five-year-old is taken to get the better of Eyes Front and Tomarlo.

Lanarra scored over C&D in a classified event recently and another bold bid would come as no surprise. However, the return to handicap company does require a bit more, with MAYNORA is a touch more appealing. Craig Lidster's inmate arrives on the back of a solid second at Ayr and a similar performance off an unaltered mark may prove sufficient. Southwell winner Taaklam is high on the shortlist as well.

LORD MASSUSUS has dropped in the ratings and it is hoped first-time blinkers can return him to something near his best ability. A Group 3 winner in 2023, the selection gained Listed wins in each of the last two years and while his form has dipped, he ran well here in July and drops in grade. Three-time C&D winner Clear Quartz was unsuited by competing over staying distances in recent runs but had shown promise at Leopardstown in June. Lady Arwen won well at the Festival here in July and commands plenty of respect. Java Wood is 4lb higher than when scoring at Gowran, while Never Loose will appreciate softening ground.

HELLO COTAI is turned out quickly here under a 5lb penalty following last week's Epsom success and, given the manner of that victory, the five-year-old ought to go very close assuming he arrives in the same form and this doesn't come too quick. Blue Wonder struggled to land a telling blow at Leicester but is respected on the evidence of her previous Haydock win, while Decalogue is another to bear in mind.

DOVE TALE made it third-time lucky courtesy of an all-the-way Lingfield success and a mark of 79 looks workable for her handicap debut. She should have more improvement to come and is worth siding with representing a top yard. Gaspacho is another who represents a leading Newmarket stable and she's not to be overlooked on a hat-trick, despite the absence. Queen's Companion is also noted.

CAPTAIN CESS didn't enjoy the best of runs when runner-up on his follow-up bid over 6f here and compensation may beckon. A 1lb nudge up in the ratings may prove to be lenient for the four-year-old, with a return to his last winning distance sure to suit. Filey Beach posted a respectable fifth at Beverley recently and may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Electric Lightning.

CLADACH has run well in recent handicaps and should be suited by stepping up in distance. A 220,000-euro yearling and out of a half-sister to a 2000 Guineas runner-up, the selection has progressed gradually and having finished well at Gowran last Tuesday, competes from 3lb lower. Purely's form is fairly ordinary but she is entitled to improve on what she has achieved to date. Jp's Express won at the Festival during the summer, while Felix Somary, Down The Glen and handicap debutante Suir Munad were others to run well here as well.

AN OUTLAW'S GRACE improved on his latest start to take second at Windsor and might be able to go one place better with a repeat performance. This won't be easy for Richard Hannon's charge because Marengo Storm is still improving and was only beaten two lengths into fifth here latest. Old Is Gold and Atticum can also get involved at the business end.

RICARDO PHILLIPS gained the success his previous form deserved when making all over C&D and another bold showing looks assured. First-time cheekpieces might help eke out a bit more improvement and he loves this track, so everything points to a big performance. Of the others, keep a close eye on Carlisle winner Jewel Maker and Charencey, who could be one for the each-way players.

Our Absent Friends looked close to his best when hitting the frame at Ripon eight days ago and he looks more than capable of going close at the same level. The veteran isn't taken lightly, but WEN MOON is slightly more compelling. Ben Haslam's inmate has finished third on his last two outings and a race of this nature looks within his compass. J Street and Hanney Girl are others of interest.

AUTUMN GRAY ran nicely on her recent debut at Naas and can build on that showing. A half-sister to three winners, the selection was best of the newcomers on that occasion where she finished her race quite well. Two of those, Churchill Bond and 80-rated Lunar Empress, who is now tried in cheekpieces, re-oppose today but the selection is open to a fraction more progression. The Aga Khan pair of Shenata and Katiraya are closely matched on their respective debut runs in a July maiden at Leopardstown.

This may be settled between the two penalised winners in Star Start and ZIMMERMAN, with preference for the latter. Tim Easterby's gelding is racing off the same rating as his recent victory at Haydock on Friday and a hat-trick may be in order if those exertions don't take their toll. The aforementioned Star Start boasts a consistent profile and should make his presence felt, with Fleur De Mer the pick of the remainder.

Mudlark RHYTHM KING is a five-time winner whose rating has recently fallen and would have solid claims if the ground stays soft. Rated 83 at his peak, the selection failed to win last year and while also defeated twice here in July, ran well in that first race on just yielding ground. San Aer is a dual course winner and has solid recent form, finishing narrowly ahead of veteran Loingseoir in July. Merisi Diamond needs soft ground but ran with credit when returning from a break and is entitled to step forward.

POSSUM showed improvement at Roscommon recently and can build on that showing. Although held by Pleased, Porters Corner and I Hope You Dance on her Curragh debut run in June, it was a step in the right direction when finishing third at Roscommon and she may improve past those rivals now. Galway Hurdle runner-up Thisistheway is clearly capable, but the seven-year-old mare needs to break better back on the Flat.
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
