Berkshire Regal and Al Jabbar both posted promising debut runner-up efforts and are open to any amount of improvement, with the former a touch more appealing judged on the form. Regardless, GAME CHARACTER caught the eye when posting an opening fifth in the Convivial at York, which reads well given the second subsequently went close in the Group 3 Solario at Sandown. Bombora is the pick of the newcomers and is worth a second look in the market.

STINTINO SUNSET hasn't finished outside the top three in any of her last four starts and may be rewarded for that consistency. This looks a suitable opportunity for her to get back to winning ways and she can take full advantage. Arundel finished third on his return to action at Yarmouth and has to be taken seriously, while Revich is another to watch out for.

DUBAI HONOUR was a beaten favourite when third in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury last month, but that was not a bad effort considering it was his first start since a couple of outings in Australia in the spring. The 117-rated gelding could well bounce back to winning form on this occasion. Plage De Havre may prove to be the main threat after his determined York success, while the in-form Too Soon is next best.

Ibelieveicanfly could only manage fourth when stepped up to Group 2 company at the Curragh and will appreciate this easier assignment. She should have more to come, but MAIRE RUA had a few things go against her when finishing third at this level at Cork last month. Ger Lyons' youngster suffered interference on more than one occasion that day so, with a clearer passage, she could prove hard to beat. Maeda Matsu got off the mark at Naas and isn't out of this either.

AFFETTUOSO showed his best form when chasing home a useful rival on his only previous all-weather start at Wolverhampton back in December. Astrid's third last time suggests that she could pose the biggest threat, although Oneinthewell has been in good form over obstacles.

Gentle Hurricane arrives on the back of a decent second in the Acomb at York and he sets a good standard for the selection to aim at, while the hat-trick seeking Rosberg is also heading in the right direction.

CRANACHAN relished the step up to 2m when scoring over C&D three weeks ago and, given the ease of that success, a 9lb rise may not be enough to stop the three-year-old from following up. Holy See hit the crossbar in a valuable event at Galway and is likely to be in the mix once again. Spirit Mixer has not been at his very best of late, but the veteran has landed the previous two renewals of this contest so should not be underestimated.

Sindagan finished sixth in Listed company at Cork and has to be of interest on his first appearance in a handicap. Vafortino made the frame at Galway and is a previous C&D winner to watch out for, but it's KRASIMIR who appeals most. Ger Lyons' charge made the frame in a valuable York affair on his most recent outing and this represents only his third start in handicap company. Benevento accounted for Rahmi at Gowran Park last month but the runner-up is 5lb better off, although he couldn't get competitive in the Irish Cambridgeshire subsequently.

Twilight Calls continued his resurgence when completing a double in a 23-runner sprint at Goodwood, his third victory in his last four outings, and cannot be dismissed in his rich vein of form. That said, a further 4lb rise in the handicap does demand more of the veteran and GETREADYTORUMBLE earns the vote. The four-year-old could be classed as an unlucky loser when denied a clear run on his latest second at Ascot and compensation may await. Last year's winner Eternal Sunshine and runner-up Apollo One are live alternatives.

BAARBERINI failed to justify odds-on favouritism when filling the runner-up spot over this trip at Southwell last month, but that was still an encouraging effort and he could take a step forward to go one better. Able Tasman showed promise when third on his introduction at Lingfield and commands respect for the Archie Watson team, while any market support behind newcomer Naseebwali would be interesting.

NIGHT STAR arguably put in a career best when only denied by a head at Salisbury last week and Richard Hannon's colt could go one better on this occasion. Darkness Falls progressed from his debut third behind Green Dreamer here to justify odds-on favouritism at the Curragh and he is the choice of Ryan Moore out of the four Aidan O'Brien contenders. Green Dreamer then ran better than his odds suggested he would when a close third in the Futurity and should go well again, but the unbeaten QUEST FOR STARS gets the nod. Charlie Appleby's juvenile produced a career-best effort when successful by a neck in a Listed event at Salisbury and should relish the extra furlong.

With that in mind, the five-year-old is worth taking on with QIRAT. Ralph Beckett's charge finished a creditable second in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood on his most recent start and will have no issues with this drop back a furlong in distance. Dermot Weld and Aidan O'Brien have won seven of the last 10 runnings between them and they may fight out the finish once again. Piazza San Marco represents Ballydoyle after finishing a four-length third in the Listed Vinnie Roe Stakes on his first start since last October and is entitled to improve. PURVIEW combines speed and stamina, winning over 10 furlongs at the Curragh in June and over this trip there in May, and if all is well after his break, he should go on to better things. Arabian Crown was second to the excellent Rebel's Romance at Newmarket and also enters calculations.

Aidan O'Brien has taken the last three renewals of this classic and saddles four this time around. The preference of those is for Derby winner Christmas Day, who finished a place behind stablemate Pierre Bonnard in the Great Voltiguer but is 5lb better off now and that form can be overturned. Even so, ENCELADUS looks the way to go. The son of Sea The Stars is unbeaten in three outings this year and took a big step forward when hitting the line well to take the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood. This step up in trip promises to bring out more improvement and the booking of Billy Loughnane is a massive positive.

With two Classic winners representing Aidan O'Brien, Ryan Moore has presumably chosen to ride Irish 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes heroine Precise ahead of Newmarket Guineas winner True Love after she was beaten less than a length when third to Rayif in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville. She can go well, but she did play second fiddle to BLUE BOLT in the Prix Rothschild and Falmouth and Andrew Balding's filly can make it five out of five for the season, with a truly-run race expected to suit her even better.

LAYLA LIZ drops back into handicap company after being found out in Listed class at Ayr but, more importantly, she returns to the all-weather having won twice and finished second twice at Wolverhampton. Seemingly better suited by artificial surfaces and sporting a tongue-tie, she could bounce back to form. If Our Cody repeats the level of her Sandown fourth in Listed company in June, she will be a danger to all. Kylian and Michaela's Boy are also of interest.

However, the former has shown more consistency this season and won't need to raise his game by much to gain a deserved first win of the campaign. Approaching Dawn and King Sharja are the pick of the remainder.

Mezcala won the Spring Mile over track and trip in March and, barring his below-par effort at Ascot last time, he has had a really consistent season. The four-year-old is expected to go well, but the one who appeals most is SCOVILLE. William Haggas' charge didn't get a strong pace to aim at when third over 7f Newbury last month, but this test promises to suit him a lot better. The son of Too Darn Hot remains unexposed for his age and a mark of 95 possibly underestimates his level of ability. Britannia victor Moonfall is another to consider.

Isaac Newton kept on well to see off Needle Match in the Desmond Stakes over C&D, but the form took a knock when the runner-up was well beaten at Haydock last Saturday. UK raiders have a good record in this contest, winning five of the last 10, with globetrotter QUDDWAH seemingly the top hope. Second at Meydan to an in-form Ombudsman in March, if he is tuned to perfection he could yet prove too good for these back at a mile. The lightly-raced Hazdann and Charles Fort also make the shortlist.

Tele Red is a veteran at the age of nine, but is still capable enough after a three-length fourth at Beverley on his one start this season. He won't mind any cut in the ground and could mount a challenge, but HOT CASH is preferred. Racing off 5lb lower than his last success back in June 2025, the booking of Cieren Fallon looks promising, as do first-time cheekpieces and the benefit of the inside stall. Zermatt Star is another to consider.

Archie Watson won this last season and relies on Quick Quasar, who struck at Kempton back in March and could get involved if rediscovering that form. Angels' Share may prove popular after winning over C&D, although she has been upped 4lb for a short-head victory, which appears harsh. DARK MANDATE is an eight-race maiden but ran on well for fourth over 6f here on his first start of the year, despite a lack of racing room, and nominal improvement might see him successful.

EXTRAGALACTIC was a promising second on his debut in a novice event at Yarmouth 13 days ago and the relatively quick reappearance suggests connections have him primed for another bold showing. The son of Space Traveller ran green on that occasion but is entitled to be build on the performance. Vegasmile was a short-priced favourite when he was introduced here last month and also looks the type to get better with experience. The attractively-bred newcomer Showcasing Glory is the most intriguing of the rest.

Item, Almaqam and CONSTITUTION RIVER crossed the line in that order in the Juddmonte International and are very hard to see beyond. The hot favourite Ombudsman failed to give his running in that premium contest on the Knavesmire and events conspired to produce a messy race. Things certainly didn't go to plan for Constitution River, whose expected pacemaker couldn't live with the early gallop, while the son of Wootton Bassett was himself too keen and stumbled early. A more composed display can see the French Derby and Eclipse hero restore his reputation and get back to winning ways, at the likely main expense of his two York rivals.

CRAZEE ICON faced a tougher task when upped in class at Goodwood last time. Andrew Balding's filly makes plenty of appeal back at this level, given she landed a double over C&D prior to her latest run, and also appears to be impervious to the going. Eagle Bay scored here before disappointing at Musselburgh on his handicap bow, but he can't be written off just yet. Midnight Strike and Apache Outlaw are others with a shout.

ROYAL COUNTY GLORY was having only his second outing for Jack Jones' yard when successful over C&D last month. He looks one to keep on the right side of, with a 2lb rise unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Narrowly beaten by the selection last time, Credit Forgedd It could have a say in the outcome once again, but Strong Voice is less exposed and may prove a bigger threat.

Needin' U is the only one to have been successful in a nursery so far and commands respect on that basis. His experience over C&D is also a positive factor and he must be taken seriously. However, STAR PEOPLE, who represents the same owners, has dropped several hints that he can win races and, as a more wily character, he gets the vote as the pick of the bunch. Royal Strike and Bellatina are others to monitor in the betting.

The Reverend is interesting on his first start on the Flat for Willie Mullins, while the class-dropping Cannes is a must for the shortlist, with the son of Sea The Stars open to stacks of progression. However, a chance is taken on TRUTH BE TOLD, who won over 1m2f here before posting an encouraging display when touched off over this trip at Ballinrobe. Wyman wasn't that far behind Cannes last time and is marginally better off at the weights. Oisin Murphy is an interesting booking for Yousaynothingatall, while Evanesco can also figure in a highly-competitive affair.

Danny McMenamin teamed up with Haveyoumissedme to win a division of this in 2024 and Iain Jardine's eight-year-old looks on a dangerous mark if back to his best, but NIBRAS GOLD could prove the one to beat. Second at Brighton last time, James Owen's charge scored over C&D before that and another bold bid looks on the cards. Spartan Times has a bit to find with the selection, but could still make the frame and is preferred to Loki.

A maiden winner at Beverley, LOVERS LEAP has improved with every start in handicaps. The daughter of Lope De Vega finished a close second at Newmarket last time and looks set to strike off her current mark. There could be more to come from Kaori on the back of her respectable third in first-time cheekpieces at Leicester, while the admirably consistent Buckland Belle is no forlorn hope, despite a 3lb rise for winning at Bath.

Yermanthere appreciated underfoot conditions and the return to Ripon when securing a fifth career success. However, the eight-year-old has yet to prove as effective in two outings at this venue and preference is for Beverley runner-up STYLE OF LIFE. The introduction of cheekpieces saw an improved effort that day and a 2lb nudge up in the ratings looks surmountable. Sunriseontheboyne and Motawaared are others of interest.

Jim Goldie will be looking for a better run from York sixth Trojan Sun and as a C&D winner he warrants consideration. Sax Appeal went off too quickly at Southwell and failed to last home but that was a better race and he should be judged on his length third at Newcastle, form which would give him every chance. BOXING GREAT arrives from Ireland after narrow wins at Leopardstown and Down Royal, but he can idle in front and may have more to offer if produced last minute.

Jim Goldie has won two of the last six runnings of this and any market support for Fear And Fast, having his first start since wind surgery, would be of interest. So Grateful failed to fire here last month but finished second on his previous three starts suggesting he has chances of a top-three finish, yet SIXCOR gets the nod. A ten-time winner including last time out at Wolverhampton, he is twice a C&D winner and looks well-drawn in the 11 stall.
