Missouri Waltz has shown ability in both of her career starts so far, most recently filling the runner-up spot under a penalty at Newmarket, and she is respected on her nursery debut. However, ONE SHOT KODI took a step forward when taking the silver medal home over this trip at Haydock earlier in the month and could progress again to go one better. Motown Filly is another to keep a close eye on.

WORLD AS ONE was conceding plenty of weight to the younger winner when beaten only a neck at Tramore. He's edging closer over hurdles with every start and Willie Mullins' charge could prove the one to beat with any further improvement. Lygon Lad is more exposed than the selection, but he posted his best effort for a while when second at Bellewstown last month and could be on the premises once again, while Nirisque has been rested since disappointing back in May and is no forlorn hope.

Al Widyan took a step forward when third at Kempton, while War Chest finished a promising third at Ascot on debut. It would be no surprise if that pair had a strong say in proceedings, but marginal preference goes to OAKFORD. The son of Dark Angel showed a willing attitude when just missing out to the Harv, now rated 90, at Goodwood and further improvement looks assured. Hope In Havana and Cornichon are newcomers to note.

PAPPANO was useful on the Flat and was thought good enough to be pitched into last year's Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham. That proved to be his solitary NH start for Willie Mullins and the son of Nathaniel has to be of interest significantly dropped in class on his debut for Syd Hosie. Devon Red is suggested as the biggest danger given his scope for improvement, while Depalma reverts to timber at a realistic level and must be feared on just his second appearance for Dan Skelton.

BEGGARS ROCK reverts to the smaller obstacles on the back of last month's winning double over fences. He has just the one previous win over hurdles, but that shouldn't prove too much of an issue in his current form given he can compete off a 13lb lower mark than when landing a chase here last month. First-time blinkers had the desired effect on the impressive Sligo winner Calm Flight Ahead and there looks more to come from him in the headgear, while Chantilly Wings could prove best of the rest.

SORRENGAIL had subsequent C&D winner Sweetwonderfulyou back in third when scoring at Ascot in July prior to going close when runner-up over 6f here. Charlie Appleby's filly left the strong impression this extra yardage would suit and she can edge out Miss Miniver, who also sports the Godolphin blue. The latter made every yard at Salisbury, with Learning back in fourth, and could prove the main threat to the selection.

BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND won this prize 12 months ago and Karl Burke's mare remains in decent form this season based on her third to stable companion Night Raider in the Temple at Haydock in May. She bids for a fourth success at this track and gets the vote at the expense of Luna A Inbhir Nis. Katie Scott's filly produced a career best when second to Rumstar at Sandown and she can play a leading role, along with Heavenly Heather, who has acquitted herself with credit at the highest level twice this campaign.

THICKTHORN TOM had plenty in hand over It's A Breeze when they were first and second in a class 4 handicap over C&D and is fancied to cement his authority, despite competing off 10lb higher. A good second to a progressive chaser since, Dan Skelton's six-year-old has solid credentials. Intosomethinggood has been highly tried and could be a bigger danger off just 4lb higher than for his triumph over timber at Kempton. Heed the market vibes on his chasing debut and first run for 188 days.

With recent solid form thin on the ground, this could prove a suitable opportunity for JODORO to make a winning handicap bow. The five-year-old arrives on the back of a respectable fifth at Kilbeggan and an official rating of 95 looks workable. Although Polly Poppins hasn't been seeing out her races over fences of late, she looks nicely treated reverting to the smaller obstacles judged on last year's form. Bernard Crowley's mare is feared most, ahead of Centaq, who could improve for the introduction of a tongue-tie.

There was plenty to like about BIN JAHWAR's debut success at Newmarket when only needing to be pushed out to score by a wide margin. Charlie Appleby has his team in tremendous form and the son of Ghaiyyath, who has an entry in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster next month, may well be heading in that direction if impressing here. Flying Pirate destroyed his rivals under a penalty when tried in cheekpieces at Haydock, while King High and Impasto appeal most of the remainder.

Winged Messenger won this off 2lb lower 12 months ago and is dangerous to ignore, having been very lightly campaigned since. However, it's notable that his yard had numerous options for this race and it could be worth taking a chance on his stable companion MILFORD, who has hinted at a revival of late and is long overdue a first win in handicap company. A high draw in stall 23 could be highly beneficial. The biggest danger could be American Style, who is 1lb well-in and also fits the profile of one that can figure prominently in an event such as this. The consistent French Affair, Wild Clary and Brighton Boy are others with each-way credentials.

BROADWAY HONEY relished the switch to fences when getting off the mark at Worcester last week and the six-year-old is likely to be a tough nut to crack, with Toby McCain-Mitchell's claim negating some of the 7lb penalty incurred. Flashy Boy was left clear over C&D last month but remains open to further improvement after a 7lb rise, while Royal Time could build on his yard debut effort when third at Bangor a fortnight ago.

The versatile and reliable Luker's Tipple also commands respect bidding to complete a four-timer in this sphere.

SPY CHIEF was well fancied for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, but ran no sort of race. However the four-year-old, who had gone close against subsequent two-time Group 1 winner Almeraq at Salisbury the time before, has been given sufficient time to recover and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he bounced back. Catullus ran with credit when pacemaking for Talk Of New York at Goodwood and reverting to 7f should be in his favour. The consistent Elarak is entitled to benefit from the return to 7f too.

The fitting of a tongue-tie was instrumental in an improved effort from WHISPERING WILLOW over hurdles at Down Royal three weeks ago and a step forward from that might suffice, with the application retained for her return to chasing. Kalsman has been consistent but hard to win with of late. However, he goes well here and should be a key player in this company. Doctor Confusion and King Gris are others capable of being on the premises.

PERFECT HOPE has filled the runner-up berth in both previous starts in nurseries and the booking of Billy Loughnane is a persuasive factor in supporting her bid to make the breakthrough. Swapping a visor for cheekpieces could assist Mick's The Boy and he is one to monitor in the betting, while Soldier's Echo and Jazzy Bay are each-way options.

UP THE JAZZ hasn't got the highest profile of his yard's entrants at the Western Meeting but he could have a big say here after overcoming trouble to finish a good second at Carlisle. The five-year-old has won off higher marks in the past and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him ridden handier with Warren Fentiman back in the saddle. Little Ted also lurks on a handy mark and the bottom-weight is dangerous to underestimate. Filly Eilish is unexposed on turf and is another to seriously consider.

ROVINIA is consistent and capable of another bold showing, despite having to concede weight all round. Hampered at a crucial stage on ground that was softer than ideal at Chepstow, the Roger Teal-trained filly boasts the most convincing recent form on offer. King Sharja is an obvious danger after winning over a mile at Musselburgh and he escapes a penalty for that triumph. Snooze Lane and Bossy Parker complete the shortlist.

Tambora won nicely at Sandown at the start of July and returns to action with solid claims. Salisbury winner Mythical Bird failed to stay the longer trip at Bath last time and is not out of it either, but RIVER CARD makes most appeal. Brian Meehan's gelding beat the top-class Maltese Cross at Ascot last term and finished a decent fourth over a mile here on last month's belated seasonal debut. This extra test of stamina could spark further improvement.

CASCADE HALL hardly came out of first gear to win at Chester last Friday and he is hard to oppose given he is 7lb well in here. The seven-year-old escapes a penalty for that apprentice race success and Lauren Young retaining the ride can ensure continuity in this deeper-looking event. Mr Moonshine is a big danger, with a 4lb rise for winning at Southwell manageable. Sophiesticate and last year's winner Just Dottie are interesting each-way options to check out in the betting market.

HANNEY BOY looks the one to beat. Having reached the frame on his first three starts, the Evanna McCutcheon-trained colt picked up black type over this trip at Naas in July. Off the mark when justifying favouritism at Cork next time, the son of Kodi Bear was far from disgraced back in stronger company at York recently. Best in on official ratings, he also has the added bonus of Jack Cleary taking 5lb off. Walk On Harry improved for the fitting of a tongue tie when opening his account at Cork last time. The Henry De Bromhead-trained colt looks the main threat. Jockey bookings suggest Supreme Lord is the more fancied of the Amo Racing pair.

Recent Newcastle novice winner INTERSTATE was narrowly beaten at Sandown on his handicap debut prior to that. Only 2lb higher for this, the Gosdens' inmate is one to take seriously and looks set to make another bold bid. The progressive Empirical arrives in great heart having gone close here last month when bidding for a hat-trick. He merits consideration, as does Dark Whisper, who drops in class and is preferred to the 2024 winner Due To Henry.

Third on her introduction at the Curragh last month, the Johnny Murtagh-trained KINDACAN can step up two places. Having raced in mid-division, the daughter of Kodi Bear stayed on well inside the final furlong to reach the frame. Her full-sister, who went on to land black type for the stable, won her only start on the polytrack at Dundalk. Tavernise, who finished two places behind the selection at the Curragh, shouldn't be far away. The Ross O'Sullivan-trained filly went second inside the final furlong before weakening late on. With the benefit of that experience, she can go close. Arrowstock, who has been highly tried of late, should appreciate this slightly easier test and first-time blinkers could also bring about further improvement.

POWDER MONKEY was having only his second start in a handicap when scoring at Lingfield. He finished runner-up here on debut back in March, so the switch to this surface is not an issue, and George Boughey's charge is taken to defy a 5lb rise. Yaajooz bounced back with a decent third at Newcastle and enters calculations off an unchanged mark, while King Of Ithaca is not badly treated on his return from a layoff.

Despite having a long absence to overcome, THE BEAR TRAP could be capable of making a winning debut for Ado McGuinness. A long-standing maiden before opening his account over C&D in December 2024, the Kodi Bear gelding was raised to a mark of 73 subsequently. Off the track since May of the following year, the five-year-old has been dropped to a rating of 61. While fitness has to be an obvious concern, he looks well handicapped. Thaloria hasn't shown much on turf of late but the return to this surface could spark a revival for the lightly-raced four-year-old. Mehman has a wide draw to overcome but shouldn't be ruled out of the equation.

PERFECT JUDGEMENT can get back to winning ways. A five-time previous scorer, four of those victories have come here at Dundalk and with the latest of those being off an official rating of 84, the Inns Of Court gelding looks well handicapped now from a mark of 56. Runner-up at Gowran Park on his penultimate start, the five-year-old has been approaching peak form ahead of the winter series. Storm Eric usually runs to form around here and despite a rare below-par effort on his most recent visit, the Jamie Flynn-trained gelding has to be a contender. Lightly-raced Cork winner Starflow could be open to further improvement for the Henry de Bromhead yard.

Melting Snow recorded her first career success over track and trip at the start of the month and is bound to go well again, but the vote goes to EVENING FADES. Having shaped as though returning to form when fifth at Down Royal recently, DAONETHATGOTAWAY can land a fourth win at this venue. Regular jockey Reese Holohan is a huge positive in a race of this nature and the Mark Fahey-trained gelding is now 2lb lower than when second here in March. Celtic Druid, who won twice over C&D earlier in the year, looks a big threat. Sadhbh Tormey, who was on board for both of those victories, retains the ride here. Lightly raced on the Flat, Direct Approach is an interesting handicap debutant for Gordon Elliott. The booking of the well-regarded Conor Cusack suggests that connections are expecting a big run.

A winner on her next start on turf at Roscommon, the Ado McGuinness-trained mare has struggled off higher marks in subsequent starts. Back down to a more realistic level here, the six-year-old should make her presence felt. Without Love, who beat the selection over C&D in January, is another with leading claims. Although much worse off at the weights here, the Cian Hughes-trained gelding has been in decent form on the grass. Coul Dore is well drawn for one that likes to make the running and shouldn't be ruled out at a bigger price.

NUMANTIA, who sets a decent standard in this finale, should prove difficult to beat. A strong-finishing fourth on his debut at the Curragh in May, the Donnacha O'Brien-trained gelding was runner-up back at that same venue next time, before again reaching the frame at the County Kildare track on his most recent appearance. With an official rating of 82, it would be disappointing if he can't get his head in front. Ask Me Again ran well when fifth here over a mile in July before again showing promise at Leopardstown last month. Scorcher's Son ran better than the bare form suggests when sixth in a big field at Navan earlier this month.
