Subsequently a respectable fourth in the Flying Five at the Curragh, Ralph Beckett's charge now has a big chance of registering his first win since the 2024 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. First Instinct edged out Shagraan to win this last year and is another to bear in mind.

DALLAS STAR is a fascinating contender representing Amo Racing. Emmet Mullins' new arrival is a smart stayer on the Flat and was runner-up to Scandinavia in Listed company at Navan earlier this season. He's an exciting prospect if transferring that kind of ability to this discipline. En Or couldn't peg back the winner when second over hurdles at Galway recently. That was a solid run and he should be thereabouts again, while Minella Post was was collared late on at Ballinrobe and also deserves to be on the shortlist.

This is definitely a race where the betting market should be scrutinised. Flower Show, Miss You Nights and Lily Pink have hinted at ability and set the standard. However, John & Thady Gosden launch the careers of two notable fillies, with Catonahottinroof looking a likely type on paper. Even so, ZHURI, whose dam is a sister to Frankel, has a really intriguing profile and is suggested as the first one to consider given her sparkling pedigree.

David O'Meara's charge won a shade cosily in a first-time tongue strap and with the headgear remaining in place, the Frankel gelding may well defy a 5lb rise.

SIMPLE THINGS has been left on the same mark after her maiden hurdle victory at Tramore and may be able to follow up back in handicap company. The Getaway filly was runner-up twice in handicaps back in the spring and is still relatively unexposed. Hopeful Hero has run well in handicaps on his last two outings but has crept up a bit in the weights as a result. Alan O'Sullivan taking 5lb off his back now should help. Bells Grove was a cosy winner of his maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe back in June and is another that is respected on his handicap debut.

Andrew Balding's filly is feared most, although Food For Thought and Thaluna are not out of it.

ECUREUIL SECRET made a winning seasonal debut last term and Richard and Peter Fahey will likely have him primed for action for this year's reappearance. The son of Wootton Bassett finished third behind a couple of subsequent Group 1 winners at York last summer and a repeat effort would see him bang there at the finish. Fast Tracker reverts to this longer trip with solid claims, while Sea Scout also merits plenty of respect.

GREYDREAMBELIEVER has solid claims of ending a losing spell. This looks a much easier task than her recent assignments and, though narrowly beaten by today's rival Rion Rubette over C&D on a couple of occasions earlier in the year, Joseph O'Brien's Dark Angel filly reopposes on more favourable terms. The latter may well be in the mix once again, but City House has been contesting hot handicaps this summer and rates a bigger threat at this level.

RED ACRES GEORGIE is interesting here. The Order Of St George mare was the subject of a serious gamble when last seen at Bellewstown in early July, going off 10/3 having been 40/1 in the morning. She was prominent when falling mid-race and could be a big player in this grade now. Jack Kennedy rides Returning Officer who disappointed on his hurdling debut at Sligo. He had shown some promise in bumpers previously and should be capable of better. His stablemate Vargas showed a bit more at Ballinrobe last time and is another to consider.

Having hit the frame on both outings to date, Somers Isles is an intriguing nursery debutant, with an official rating of 75 looking workable. Andrew Balding's filly isn't taken lightly given her nice draw, but KOODINI could prove better value. A 2lb drop for his latest fourth at Haydock is potentially lenient and he's only 2lb higher than his breakthrough victory at Catterick in late July. Reopposing third Gerry's Darling is a feasible alternative.

Disappointing last time, NEVERMINDTHERAIN drops back into maiden company. The half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Puerto Rico, she finished a creditable third in a Group 3 over 7f at Cork back in July and Aidan O'Brien's charge could prove hard to beat over this longer trip if back on song. Stablemate Hereafter is one to monitor on her introduction, while Castilian Queen was well held but nonetheless shaped nicely at Cork on debut. Isle Of Capri has proven ability and could also figure.

ALBANY COUNTY has shown plenty of ability. An eye-catching fourth at the Curragh on debut, she was no match for stablemate and subsequent Group 1 winner Darkness Falls when second at the same venue last time, but meets nothing of that calibre in this and can open her account. Breath Of Paradise could be thereabouts having finished narrowly ahead of the selection when third at the Curragh, while Mount Meru is a half-brother to a winner and is a newcomer to note, along with Pirate Of Penzance.

Course second Kicking Bear is another to consider closely in this novice heat.

There could be more to come from CLANOKRE LASS on her handicap debut. The Poet's Word filly was a solid third at Down Royal and the more galloping track there seemed to suit her better than Downpatrick previously. She looks on a competitive mark now and will prove hard to beat. Goin' ran a big race when third at Bellewstown and off just a 2lb higher mark, he looks like a leading contender. Mother Ship has been runner-up on her last two outings and is another that has to be on the shortlist.

Richard Spencer has proven to have a dab hand in these highly competitive sprint handicaps in recent years, including when saddling last year's winner Run Boy Run. He has four contenders this time around and Twilight Calls is arguably his leading hope after his runner-up effort in the Portland at Doncaster, but his battalion might be worth taking on with FAR ABOVE DREAM. James Owen's charge had eight of these rivals behind when denied a nose into second in a contest that is working out very well at York and that looks the key piece of form to focus on. At a price, Volterra might be one to watch out for.

Saucy Jane has been winning lower-grade sprints, although she did score easily at Windsor last time and should make her presence felt. However, OLD IS GOLD took advantage of the drop in class when successful in this grade at Goodwood recently and it could pay to stick with Andrew Balding's charge now he's found his level. Sierra Sands is preferred to Quantum Power of the remainder.

FAIYUM has been a beaten favourite in her three runs this year but will be suited by easing ground and won this race last year. A smart performer who finished narrowly behind subsequent Group 1-winner Barnavara in June 2025 and, if reproducing that level of form, she will prove tough to beat. Sindria was only one placed behind the selection at the Curragh last month and commands respect. Star Performer easily defeated both Hollys Graces and Classiest to win a C&D Listed race last month, but faces tougher opponents now. Caught U Sleeping would prefer good ground and is tried in first-time cheekpieces.

Aalto has held his form well since the end of June and is very much one for the shortlist, while Marcellinus should go well and Garfield Shadow could be one for the each-way players. The verdict is for CASTLE ROCK, who boasts and unexposed profile and posted a really creditable second on his return from an absence at Newmarket last month, when making his handicap debut. He has scope for further progression and could have too much for these.

EMERALD ENIGMA was a touch disappointing on her jumping debut at Cork early last month, but may bounce back here. The Buck's Boum mare was well supported after completing a double in bumpers, but she could only manage sixth behind stablemate Easter Bonnet. This represents just her second start over timber and she is likely to have more to offer. Mossy Way ran well for a long way when third to Colcannon in a strong contest at Fairyhouse last Easter and has to be respected. Master Sydney is a player based on her third at Kilbeggan two starts ago.

GEMINI MAN was just touched off over an extended 1m4f here earlier in the month and only has a 1lb higher mark to contend with. This drop back in trip doesn't hold any fears and he looks the one to beat. Ravenscraig Castle took the silver medal home over C&D on his most recent start and should go well again, while Lingfield fourth Pride Eye is another to keep an eye on.

Gold Key showed marked improvement from his debut ninth at Newcastle when headed in the closing stages at Thirsk last month. Kevin Ryan's colt could step up again and must enter calculations, but the 82-rated AMIR LEHBAB edges the vote. The son of No Nay Never arrives on the back of a close-up second in a similar contest at Doncaster and compensation may beckon. Golden Souk and Rogue Constelation are the pick of the newcomers and merit a check in the betting.

MAHARAJAS EXPRESS has been kept busy since he won over C&D in July and has generally flourished during the period. WYVILL took a pleasant step forward when finishing a creditable third on his handicap bow at Kempton and could have more to offer. The handicapper might have been kind to leave his mark alone for that display and gets the vote at the expense of Raise The Stakes, who occupied the runner-up berth in a classified event at Wolverhampton and has to be respected. Ten Sixty Six is the pick of the remainder.

Having landed the spoils on five of his last six appearances, Classy Clarets merits the utmost of respect given his current vein of form. That said, the five-year-old is effectively 12lb higher with Tom Marquand taking over, which could leave the door open for fellow in-form rival QUEST FOR FUN. Tim Easterby's charge has posted several creditable efforts in defeat this season and a 2lb rise for his narrow defeat at York recently appears fair. The relatively unexposed Blakefell also catches the eye.

Homestrait supplemented a victory at Haydock with a narrow defeat over track and trip and another bold bid is forecast, but the vote goes to ANDESITE. Roger Fell's charge returned to winning ways in this grade at Thirsk earlier in the month and is fancied to follow up. Of the remainder, recent C&D winner King Of Thunder makes the most appeal.

EMERGENCY MAN looks the pick of those that have run and may be able to make his experience count. The Shirocco gelding has been placed on both starts and it was a decent effort to finish third behind a smart looking sort in Teofil in a winners' contest at Killarney last month. Newcomers from some of the bigger yards warrant respect. Henry De Bromhead's charge El Paraiso is a home-bred by owner Kenny Alexander and is out of a mare that was third in a Listed bumper, while the Gordon Elliott-trained Ellen Imlach is a half-sister to the yard's dual Grade 2 and Galway Plate winner Ash Tree Meadow.

Hengest wasn't disgraced in third in this class at Epsom and the first-time visor might bring out some improvement. REPONSE FINALE is busier than most and can continue her excellent recent form. Gavin Cromwell's filly won twice and finished runner-up once in just a four-day period in August and only found one too good over 1m2f at Clonmel last Wednesday. She goes off an unchanged mark and looks the way to go. Chipsrdown hasn't raced since winning in June and is just 3lb higher today, so she needs to be taken seriously. Selective Power wasn't beaten far into fourth over C&D at the start of the month and is another to note.

ASADJUMEIRAH saves his best for this track and has won two of his last three starts over C&D. Although not at her best when third at Leicester, last month's victory at Nottingham marked a personal best for Melissa Honey. However, the four-year-old has yet to reach the frame in six outings on the all-weather, so last-time-out C&D winner GET UP EVERYBODY is more compelling. Paul Midgley's charge was raised 3lb for that success and that may not be enough to stop him. Keep an eye on the market for Glowchester on his return from a lengthy absence.

A switch to more aggressive tactics saw an all-the-way victory for SOLID BOND at Carlisle recently and she could prove tough to peg back once more. The four-year-old had previously finished third on her sole all-weather start at Southwell, so reverting to Tapeta holds no fear. Ellie's De Vega arrives on the back of narrow triumph over C&D and he's feared most, ahead of Lady Bouquet.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
