Mystic Man

1.25/1(+50%)
(3) Mystic Man 1.25/1, Point winner who left hurdle exploits behind when winning 2 handicap chases at the start of the summer. Run of good form came to an abrupt halt when pulled up at Uttoxeter in July (final start for Oliver Sherwood) but could bounce back with a bang for Harry Derham.
Won first two starts over fences and he had an excuse on slow ground last time; respected.

2nd (2) Tedwin Hills (3/1 +0%)
Tedwin Hills

3/1(+0%)
(2) Tedwin Hills 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles who has finished fourth in a couple of handicaps this summer (had wind surgery in between). Steps back up in trip for chase debut.
Lightly raced 6yo and he could have more to offer on this switch to fences; in the mix.
3
3rd (6) Fox's Socks (28/1 -133%)
Fox's Socks

28/1(-133%)
(6) Fox's Socks 28/1, Mixed record over fences for Alex Hales and it remains to be seen whether a change of scenery sparks an upturn in his fortunes.
Has struggled in his last three runs over fences and has questions to answer for new yard.
4
4th (5) Conceal (6/1 +25%)
Conceal

6/1(+25%)
(5) Conceal 6/1, Won at Uttoxeter last autumn. One of his better efforts since when third at Stratford on reappearance in July but not in the same form when a remote fourth back there since.
On workable mark but he's 1-17 under rules and others are more convincing.
5th
5th (8) Carapaz (14/1 +13%)
Carapaz

14/1(+13%)
(8) Carapaz 14/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and has no more than hinted at ability under Rules, including a remote sixth on his recent Worcester chase debut. A first-time cheekpieces and refitted tongue tie combination needs to spark improvement.
Has not shown much under rules and he needs a transformation in new equipment.
6th
6th (4) Bergentown (10/1 +17%)
Bergentown

10/1(+17%)
(4) Bergentown 10/1, Little worthwhile form in 16 starts over hurdles in Ireland but left those efforts well behind on first start for this yard when scoring at Bangor (19.5f, good) in June. Down the field both outings since and now switches to fences with a tongue strap added.
Disappointing in last two hurdle runs and has quite a bit to prove again on chase debut.

Onenightintown

14/1(-87%)
(7) Onenightintown 14/1, Two chase wins at the end of last summer. Not disgraced at the start of this season and has Brian Hughes up back from a short break. Not discounted.
His last win was off a similar mark and he wasn't beaten far last time; dangerous.

Big Difference

22/1(-300%)
(1) Big Difference 22/1, Won a couple of small-field handicap chases for Tim Reed in the first half of last season. Lost his way lately but well handicapped if a switch to Laura Morgan sparks a revival. Market confidence could prove significant.
Dual chase winner but he's lost his way and needs to turn things around for new yard.
LTO Selection:

13:45 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This can go the way of MYSTIC MAN, who failed to fire last time but he had won well on his two previous outings, including once over this C&D. The change of stables is also intriguing and he may have enough to see off the likes of Tedwin Hills and Conceal, who is now 1lb below his last winning mark.

MYSTIC MAN ended his time with Oliver Sherwood on a low note but he could resume his progression now. Big Difference is well handicapped if a switch to Laura Morgan prompts an upturn in his fortunes and rates a possible threat, particularly if the betting vibes are strong. Onenightintown is also shortlisted with Brian Hughes in the saddle.

6yo MYSTIC MAN had an excuse in his hat-trick bid at Uttoxeter in July and can bounce back to make it 3-4 over fences.

(9) She's Out Of Reach 40/1, Modest form. Second in a 1½m Leicester seller in May but down the field in 2m Wolverhampton handicap later that month (final start for Louise Allan). Would need to see market support to consider now starting out for new yard after a break.
Well beaten in May when last seen; has changed stables; others have less to prove.

(6) She's A Novelty 2.5/1, Placed twice before resuming winning ways in amateur riders' event at Windsor (11.5f, good to firm) 25 days ago. Enters calculations despite a 5 lb rise.
Won comfortably at Windsor and a 5lb rise isn't harsh; could play another leading role.

2nd (1) Unplugged (4/1 +0%)
Unplugged

4/1(+0%)
(1) Unplugged 4/1, C&D winner in June and went in again at Pontefract in July. 13/2, creditable 2¼ lengths fourth of 10 to Bollin Margaret in handicap at Ripon 9 days ago. Likely to be thereabouts under Serena Brotherton.
Won two in a row under Serena Brotherton this summer (the first over C&D); can go well.

(5) Turner Girl 10/1, Latest win at Newcastle (12.5f) in August. Eighth of 10 in handicap (5/1) at Lingfield (1½mf, AW) 17 days ago. Bounce back needed.

(3) Dogged 7.5/1, Four wins from 8 runs this year, the latest at Ripon (11f) 10 days ago. Only scraped home on that occasion so a 5 lb penalty demands more of him.
Three wins from last four starts and this bang-in-form front-runner has to be respected.

(4) Restorer 9/1, Twenty eight runs since last win in 2020. 16/1, bit below form fifth of 11 in handicap at Epsom (1½m, good) 10 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive.
Some fair efforts this year but this 11yo's losing sequence goes back to September 2020.
LTO Selection:

14:00 Haydock Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SHE'S A NOVELTY recorded her first success on the level when sauntering to victory at Windsor last month and, although she's been raised 5lb since, the manner of her victory suggested there could be more to come from this dual-purpose mare. Bollin Margaret is officially 3lb well-in having won in game fashion at Ripon nine days ago, and must enter calculations along with Dogged.

BOLLIN MARGARET is unpenalised for last week's Ripon apprentice success so might be up to landing win number 4 of the season. Fellow last-time-out scorer She's A Novelty is second choice ahead of Unplugged, who was fourth to the selection at Ripon last week.

Having won comfortably at Windsor last time the mare SHE'S A NOVELTY is taken to defy a 5lb rise and follow up. Dogged is a danger.

(1) Power Of Darkness 3.33/1, Becoming well treated and took a step back in the right direction when fifth at Chepstow last month. Slowly into stride and never able to land a blow at Windsor but this is a much easier assignment.
Enduring a disappointing season and there's been little sign of turning things around.

(6) Racing Demon 6/1, Won back-to-back 1m handicaps in June, latterly at this venue. 5/2, good second of 8 in handicap at this C&D 22 days ago, despite being slowly away. Can give a good account.

Blue Collar Lad

33/1(-65%)
(5) Blue Collar Lad 33/1, Latest win at Lingfield in June with cheekpieces re-fitted but unable to continue the good work in a trio of outings since.
Last of four wins came in June but it's been modest fare since then.
LTO Selection:

14:10 Salisbury Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Plenty of chances in this contest with ANGLO SAXSON making most appeal. Patrick Owens' charge showed a willing attitude when scoring over course and distance last time and a repeat of that effort would see him take plenty of beating. The six-year-old will have to defy a 4lb rise in the ratings, but that could prove to be lenient. Uncle Dick scored over 1m at Brighton recently, while Racing Demon shouldn't be far away.

UNCLE DICK was all the better for his reappearance when scoring at Brighton 3 weeks ago and a 2 lb rise won't prevent a very bold bid. Anglo Saxson and the class-dropping Power of Darkness are potential threats.

Anglo Saxson is a no-nonsense individual but ISLAND NATIVE can be forgiven his last two runs and he edges preference.

(3) Swapped 3.33/1, Bumper winner who didn't progress over hurdles but more like it switched to chasing for Nicky Henderson landing handicaps at Worcester/here in recent months. Joined new yard for £18,000 in August and he's not out of things now his stamina is tested further.
Signed off for Nicky Henderson with two 2m4f wins; upped in trip for stable debut.

(7) Massons Castle 66/1, Modest winner over hurdles earlier in career. Minor promise on third start over fences at Tramore in June but proved disappointing back over hurdles in a Roscommon claimer (20f) 59 days ago. Returns to chasing on debut for new yard and market best guide.
Failed to convince over fences in Ireland; moves up in trip for today's stable debut.

Finished well to win at Perth last month and has very good record at this track.

Biowavego

2.75/1(+31%)
(1) Biowavego 2.75/1, Bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts over hurdles when adding to his tally at Warwick (25f, good to firm) in May. Similar form without threatening in a couple of chase tries since but mark is easing and lively ground will hold no fears. Cheekpieces on 1st time.
Began chasing career with two fairly respectable runs on soft ground; can do better here.

Wouldn't be an obvious follow-up candidate on this much quicker ground, however.
Still well handicapped after recent Cartmel win but would appeal more on slower ground.

Last of four on chasing debut in July and finished weakly over hurdles last month.

Dual chase winner this year but below form last time and remains on fairly tough mark.
LTO Selection:

14:18 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FAIRLAWN FLYER bounced back to winning ways with a comfortable success at Cartmel last time out and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. The seven-year-old is still well below his career-high mark and may have too much for the Perth winner Ecossais, as well as Swapped, who makes his first start for new connections as he goes in search of a hat-trick.

Successful over hurdles at Warwick in May, BIOWAVEGO hasn't been disgraced either start over fences subsequently and, returned to this forecast quicker ground, he could be the answer. The hat-trick seeking Swapped and Moon King head up the dangers, in what rates a tricky puzzle.

Topweight BIOWAVEGO has made only a satisfactory start to his chasing career but today's faster ground can enable improvement.

Despite racing keenly, there was plenty to like about the way Finbar Furey stuck to his task when runner-up at Salisbury on debut last month and, if settling better this time, he could go very close. However, ELMONJED gets the nod. This son of Blue Point broke the juvenile track record at Lingfield on debut and could be another smart sort for connections. Ingleby Archie improved for the step up in trip at Redcar recently and cant be discounted.

ELMONJED has already been gelded but he's bred to be pretty smart and he wasn't extended to make a winning debut at Lingfield 17 days ago. On that evidence, he's more than capable of defying a penalty, with Finbar Furey and First Encore likely to offer most resistance.

14:40 Salisbury Stakes (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Immediately the eye is drawn to CAMBRIDGE, who represents the powerful combination of Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore. The son of Dubawi made an eye-catching start to his career when third over the extended 7f at Roscommon a couple of weeks ago and this looks like a good opportunity to get his head in front at the second time of asking. City Burglar is feared most after a close second over 1m at Newbury last time, while Boyfriend is also noted.

CAMBRIDGE, a rare runner here for the Aidan O'Brien yard, made a pleasing start when third at Roscommon recently and is the one to beat with improvement very much on the cards. Newbury runner-up City Burgler is likely to give him most to do unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding newcomers such as Torrent and/or Endosser.

The Dubawi colt CAMBRIDGE is a rare Salisbury runner for Aidan O'Brien and there was a lot to like about his debut effort.

14:48 Southwell Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ADAMARIS has done well since joining the Adrian Keatley stable and another win could be on the cards, with the drop back in trip and this track expected to suit. Brian Hughes retaining the ride is another plus, and it may be that the Stratford winner Sobegrand gives him the most to think about if bouncing back to form. Manimole is also entitled to be thereabouts.

The return to 2m will suit ADAMARIS and now back in novice company following a productive spell in handicap company he looks the one to be with on these terms. Manimole and Sobegrand look the chief threats.

This looks a tight contest but MANIMOLE gets the vote ahead of Adamaris and Hobie.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Haydock Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Blue Moon Baby is turned out quickly having won cosily at Musselburgh eight days ago and must enter calculations despite the 6lb penalty. Another who is running under a penalty is the Jack Jones-trained GOODEVENINGMRBOND, who quickened up smartly to win at Chepstow 10 days ago and, with William Buick now in the saddle, he narrowly edges the vote. Be Here Now is also considered.

GOODEVENINGMRBOND overcame a sluggish start to open his account at Chepstow 10 days ago and a penalty might not be enough to stop him following up such was the authority of that performance. Fellow last-time-out winner Blue Moon Baby is a danger and Be Here Now is going the right way.

The John Quinn-trained BLUE MOON BABY appeared to have much more in hand than the official winning margin at Musselburgh.

LTO Selection:

15:10 Salisbury Maiden (Class 2) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Some promising sorts line up in this contest with slight preference for SKELLET, who made a pleasing start to her career when fourth over 7f at Sandown last month. Ralph Beckett's charge was only beaten a length on that occasion and she should only improve for the experience. Serene Seraph looks to be the biggest danger after running with credit when third over an extended 6f at Doncaster in June and that form has worked out very well, while Glitterella heads the remainder.

Plenty of interesting newcomers on show but SERENE SERAPH produced a promising first effort when third in a Doncaster maiden back in June and, with improvement on the cards, she can go a couple of places better at the expense of Skellet, who shaped very well having been supported in the betting on debut at Sandown recently. Spinto Soprano and Westray both look debutantes to note so they round off the shortlist.

With Serene Seraph absent since early June preference is for SKELLET, who looked unlucky not to make a winning start at Sandown.

LTO Selection:

15:18 Southwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

NEVENDON has yet to run a bad race since switching to Alexandra Dunn from John McConnell in the spring and, having gone close at Bath on the level last month, he could be hard to stop back over hurdles. Lunar Shadow was the winner of the aforementioned race at Bath and looked unlucky when unseating at Stratford prior to that run. Nibras Gold appeared to improve for the application of cheekpieces when last seen and completes the shortlist.

This is competitive for the field size, with a case to be made for all 6, but PILLAR OF STEEL looks the one to side with. She opened her account for her current stable at Stratford last time and there's likely even more to come. Nibras Gold and Hurricane Ali are both obvious dangers.

Triple C&D winner HURRICANE ALI is proven on fast ground and, with hot weather forecast, he might be the answer.

LTO Selection:

15:30 Haydock Stakes (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Trainer Charlie Appleby has taken the last two renewals of this contest, which suggests Legend Of Time can go well, although both his previous winners had racecourse experience and the son of Sea The Stars is making his debut. Wafei is another newcomer to consider, but L'ENNEMI brings form to the table which may give him the edge. Second to Magsood when staying on strongly at Beverley latest, the step up to a mile could see him get off the mark.

Usually an informative 1m 2-y-o novice, with L'ENNEMI taken to put his experience to use and open his account. He took a step forward when second at Beverley and seems sure to do better. Cases can be made for all of the newcomers on paper and the betting will be interesting, Legend of Time and Gulf Legend a couple to note in particular.

300,000euros yearling GULF LEGEND has an illustrious pedigree and earns the vote ahead of Godolphin debutant Legend Of Time.

A case can be made for several of these, but MIAHARRIS made it two from two when gamely seeing off Majestic Beauty over 5f at Newbury last month. The nature of that success left the impression that she has more to offer and, with Oisin Murphy on board once again, the daughter of Zoustar is of significant interest. That said, Majestic Beauty is still feared, while the grade-dropping Dorothy Lawrence and Symbology are just two others with claims.

MIAHARRIS managed to maintain her unbeaten record despite adverse circumstances at Newbury 20 days ago and she's likely to take another big step forward, so she's a confident choice to go in again. Symbology is an obvious player after an excellent third in the Lowther at York, while Soprano is likely to be on the premises again.

Plenty to consider but SOPRANO (nap) appeals most on this return to sprinting. She has been racing too exuberantly over 7f.

15:55 Southwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

EZ TIGER opened his account with a cosy victory over C&D in July and, despite a 3lb rise, he looks the safest option in a weak affair. The likeliest danger appears to be top-weight Champagne Town, who has not been seen since finishing second here in May but has had wind surgery since and he may go well. Star Legend failed to fire on his handicap debut at Stratford a fortnight ago but he could be worth another chance.

EZ TIGER belatedly got off the mark over C&D a couple of months ago and having been nudged up just 3 lb, he's fancied to follow up at the expense of Champagne Town, who was runner-up at this venue when last seen back in May and returns on the back of a second breathing operation. Naasik and handicap debutante Horizon Dove can do battle for third spot.

LTO Selection:

16:05 Haydock Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

In a tricky contest it may be best to side with William Buick here as he takes the ride on Newcastle winner CHIC COLOMBINE, who travelled well throughout to land the odds over this trip. A mark of 74 for her nursery debut seems fair enough and she may follow up. The Bitter Moose was unlucky when third at Epsom and looks a danger to all if he can repeat that level, leaving Doubletalk and Dan Dee Prince as the pick of the remainder.

THE BITTER MOOSE ran well behind a subsequent winner at Epsom 3 weeks ago, proving his stamina for 7f in the process, and could be the way to go off the same mark. Leicester 1-2 Dan Dee Prince and Doubletalk are firmly in the mix, while Commander Crouch excelled himself in a big-field Newmarket sales contest recently and is up to winning a race.

The Epsom camber didn't appear to suit THE BITTER MOOSE on his nursery debut but he still finished third and gets the nod.

LTO Selection:

16:15 Salisbury Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

This could go the way of AL SIMMO, who is now rated just 2lb higher than when only narrowly denied over this distance at York on her penultimate outing. The six-year-old is fancied to bounce back from her effort in the Group 3 Summer Stakes when last seen in July and she can get the better of The Big Board, who finished a creditable fourth at York last month. Jumbeau is another to bear in mind stepping up in class.

THE BIG BOARD has proved most progressive this season and fared the best of those to force the pace when fourth in the Constantine Handicap at the Ebor meeting last month. This should represent an easier task for Richard Hannon's filly, though Frankness remains one to keep on the right side of and can pose a threat, with the consitent Jumbeau completing the placings.

A few with chances but KATEY KONTENT is worth trying over 6f for the first time judged on her encouraging last run at Newbury.

16:20 Clonmel Maiden 9.5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ASTAR is becoming a touch frustrating but may be able to gain an overdue win here. The Sea The Stars filly has been placed on her last five outings and the form of her runner-up effort at Galway last time has worked out well. She chased home the progressive Youcrackmeup in handicap company then. The winner has followed up since while the third horse, Fratas, has gone on to win twice. Her mark of 80 sets the standard. Lady Meis is the potential improver in the field and could be the danger. She ran a big race when just pipped at the line in Gowran last time and that was a step forward from her first two outings. The 75-rated As Fast As Wind, who was second at Bellewstown last time, is another for the shortlist in this company.

ASTAR has been knocking pretty loudly on the door this season and this looks a great chance for him to open his account. Lady Meis is going the right way and looks the obvious danger.

Runner-up in four of her last five starts ASTAR can gain a deserved win here, although Lady Meis could push her close

Tally's Son sprung a surprise when winning at odds of 33-1 at Stratford a fortnight ago and he merits the utmost respect from just 2lb higher. Abraaj moves into handicap company from a potentially workable mark and it would be no surprise to see him improve, but a chance is taken on ASA. Philip Kirby's filly has shown signs of promise and is now 17lb below her opening mark. With a recent spin at Bangor under her belt, she could take a step forward.

Ridden with a touch more restraint than of late, TALLY'S SON opened his account in this sphere at Stratford a fortnight ago and he can score again now that he's up and running. The biggest threat could come from Skeeter Park, who can leave a lesser effort behind back at this course, while Rogue Mission is an interesting contender on handicap debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

One Of Our Own ran down RAINBOW RAIN late on when scoring over this trip at Redcar last month, but Tracy Waggott's inmate could reverse that form. The gelded son of Acclamation has been knocking on the door of late and, with more progression likely, could be worth siding with. Fellow last-time-out winner Dream Deal is another to consider off 4lb higher.

RAINBOW RAIN was denied by only a neck by One of Our Own at Redcar last time and, on better terms, he's fancied to reverse form with that rival with a visor refitted. Dream Deal is another one to consider but the majority are out of sorts.

With Tom Eaves back in the saddle, the consistent RAINBOW RAIN is taken to turn the tables on his Redcar conqueror One Of Our Own.

16:40 Haydock Handicap (Class 3) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Charlie Appleby launches a two-pronged assault with Veil Of Shadows and SAPPHIRE SEAS, and the latter is preferred. The daughter of Frankel thumped a subsequent Listed winner and Group-placed rival in a Kempton novice 155 days ago, so an opening mark of 94 doesn't look beyond a filly who has the potential to become Pattern class. The unbeaten Royal Mila, who struck at Windsor last time, looks a big danger to the selection, while Zarga should not be underestimated either.

A potentially deep contest despite the small field, with the unbeaten ROYAL MILA fancied to confirm the abundant promise of her 2 novice successes now switching to handicaps. Sapphire Seas also looked a fine prospect when winning twice on all-weather earlier in the year and, after an absence, heads into handicaps with plenty to be positive about, whilst her stablemate Veil of Shadows only went down to a similarly unexposed sort last time and should also find herself in the mix.

Preference is for Godolphin's SAPPHIRE SEAS who was impressive in a Kempton novice in April when last seen. Royal Mila is a danger.

LTO Selection:

16:45 Salisbury Handicap (Class 3) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Sly Madam is a course and distance winner but may have to settle for a place as she is 4lb above her last winning mark. GARDEN ROUTE was an easy winner at Windsor over this trip in June before finding softer ground and 1m2f beyond him at Goodwood last time. Dropped in both class and trip in first-time cheekpieces, the son of Galileo could well bounce back to his best, with Resolute Man the likeliest to follow him home on his second start following a gelding operation.

GARDEN ROUTE may have found his latest Goodwood assignment coming too soon in his development but he'd previously looked a useful prospect when making all on return at Windsor so, back in calmer waters/returned to quicker ground, he gets the nod to come out on top for his leading stable. Windsor-scorer Just Bring It and Resolute Man can give the selection most to think about.

Although a beaten favourite in all his runs this season, RESOLUTE MAN isn't one to give up on now stepped up to 1m.

16:50 Clonmel Maiden 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

THIS SONGISFORYOU can gain compensation here having lost out narrowly in a tight three-way finish at Leopardstown last month. The US-bred gelding has been knocking on the door recently and also ran well when third at Galway earlier last month. Obviously it would be dangerous to take too literally his short-head defeat by the 105-rated Up And Under last time but he has certainly shown a level where he can win a race of this standard. Expound has the top mark of those with an official rating and has been hitting the crossbar. It would be disappointing though if This Songisforyou couldn't surpass his mark of 73. Awqaat ran well when fourth in a Naas maiden last time and could be place material.

This is short of THIS SONGISFORYOU's optimum trip but he's very likely to get away with it in a race lacking strength in depth. Nostringsttached and Expound look set to chase the selection home.

Having just failed to get up at Leopardstown last month THIS SONGISFORYOU looks the one to beat here

Only denied by three-quarters of a length over this trip at Musselburgh last month, SERGEANT MAYER gets the nod in a contest lacking depth. The gelded son of Soldier's Call kept on well on that occasion and likely has more to offer, so he is taken to get the better of Lazareti, who makes her handicap debut following a fair run for third at Pontefract most recently. Space Ninja looks best of the rest.

SERGEANT MAYER was nicely clear of the rest when runner-up at Musselburgh last week and from the same mark he's the most persuasive option. Space Ninja also arrives on the back of a personal best and he heads the opposition, with Rock Lodge another to consider.

This looks a good opportunity for SERGEANT MAYER, who can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent Musseburgh nursery second

Typical Woman wasn't disgraced at Southwell 10 days ago. She is reunited with William Buick, who won on her over C&D two starts ago, and that can only be viewed as a positive. Ready To Shine and Real Terms can chase the pair home.

REAL TERMS ran well when third at Ayr last time, despite needing the emphasis more on stamina, so she is taken to return to winning ways as she goes back up in trip. She can get the better of Typical Woman, whose both previous victories have come with William Buick in the saddle, while Movie Star Looks would be dangerous if able to get an easy lead.

The lightly raced MOVIE STAR LOOKS (nap) remains on a workable mark following her recent small-field win and can follow up.

LTO Selection:

17:15 Salisbury Handicap (Class 4) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

There may be more to come from Alice Knyvet after she got off the mark at Leicester recently, but others may improve past her here. Ryan Moore rode LE MANS into second over 7f at Kempton last month and is back on board as the daughter of Kodiac steps up in trip. If Richard Hannon's filly sees out the distance, then she may have more to offer on just her third start. Tudor may be happier at this trip and is another to consider seriously.

ALICE KNYVET got the better of a determined rival when opening her account at Leicester 15 days ago and, with the potential for further progress to come upped in trip, she is taken to score again. Le Mans has shown promise amidst greenness on her 2 starts so far and is feared most on her handicap debut, while Monty Bay also merits consideration.

A few with chances in a trappy finale but MONTY BAY gets the nod having seen out his last two races on the front foot.

LTO Selection:

17:25 Clonmel Handicap 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

FLORIDA TAIGA ran really well over slightly further at Navan recently and looks capable of winning a handicap off this kind of mark. The daughter of Free Eagle finished off well to take third behind Stay Local and the first-time blinkers then seemed to work well. A tongue-tie is also added now and if that can extract anymore improvement if may get her over the line. Chica Linda comes here in winning form having scored at Sligo last month and she looks an obvious danger. Jeaniemacaroney won a barrier trial last year and shaped with promise when third on her racecourse bow at Gowran. She hasn't quite shown that level in two runs this term but could get closer now off a lowly enough mark on her handicap debut.

FLORIDA TAIGA produced her best effort so far sporting first-time blinkers after 3 months off when third at Navan last Saturday and, provided she copes with this quick turnaround, Dermot Weld's filly is fancied to get off the mark with a tongue tie added. The main threat may emerge from Jeaniemacaroney, who looks just the type to do better in handicaps, with recent winner Chica Linda rounding off the shortlist.

It was a career best from FLORIDA TAIGA when beaten a length at Navan last week and if she comes on for that, she may be hard to beat

LTO Selection:

17:35 Carlisle Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BIRDIE BOWERS took a big step forward when filling the runner-up spot over this trip at Beverley most recently and he is fancied to go one better off a 1lb raised mark. Sixcor kept on well to score on his latest outing and is feared most under a 5lb penalty, while Cavalier Approach is another recent winner not to be taken lightly off 5lb higher.

Ed Bethell has quickly found the key to CAVALIER APPROACH who can make light of a 5 lb rise with further progress on the cards for his new stable. Joe Fanning has a very good record on One Last Hug this year and Jim Goldie's 8-y-o can provide the chief threat ahead of last-time-out Beverley second Birdie Bowers.

Topweight CAVALIER APPROACH made a winning start for Ed Bethell at Hamilton a fortnight ago and is taken to make it 2-2 for the yard.

LTO Selection:

17:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The Smiling Wolf secured a comfortable success over this trip at Ffos Las last Friday and he must enter calculations under a 6lb penalty. That said, MINI MAGNA has scored on two of his last three starts and gets the vote on his Tapeta debut. Ed Dunlop's gelding has to shoulder top-weight but he could be hard to stop if transferring his recent form onto the all-weather. The unexposed Suicide Blonde is another to consider.

London & The South start the evening in third place but might be able to narrow the gap at the top of the table courtesy of THE SMILING WOLF, who looks nicely treated under a penalty for last week's comfortable Ffos Las success. The thriving Mini Magna is feared most on the back of her recent Carlisle near miss. Suicide Blonde and Skilled Master are handicap newcomers who make some appeal, although the draw could have been kinder to the latter.

There should be more to come from Beyond Borders but THE SMILING WOLF looks ahead of the handicapper after last week's easy win.

LTO Selection:

17:55 Clonmel Handicap 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ECLAT DE LUMIERE has dropped a few pounds since her last run and looks capable of landing a race of this standard. Seven furlongs at the Curragh last time looked on the short side but she stayed on from the rear and it wasn't a bad run in competitive company. This looks a better trip now and an easier task. Slieve Binnian was a winner at the Curragh last time and while this 'country' track may not play to his strengths just as well he commands plenty of respect. Simply Sideways has run well to be placed on her last couple of outings and with Sean Bowen taking 7lb off her back now she could run a big race off a feather weight.

Competitive fare with the narrow vote in favour of ECLAT DE LUMIERE. Unsuited by the drop in trip when midfield in a Curragh handicap (7f) when last seen in June, her previous Fairyhouse third was a solid enough display and she can be expected to go well from a career-low mark. Free Flow and recent course scorer Slieve Binnian head up the dangers.

FREE FLOW has looked well treated since switching to handicaps and he ran a good race from a poor position last time

LTO Selection:

18:05 Carlisle Stakes (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SILENT MOVE showed marked improvement from first to second start when an easy winner at Thirsk last time out, and Richard Fahey's charge is taken to follow up under a 7lb penalty. He is narrowly preferred to Apiarist, who was narrowly denied at the same track last month and should be open to further improvement. A full-brother to the Group-placed Persia, newcomer Love Safari could also have a say in proceedings.

VICTORY SHOUT left his debut form well behind when fourth in a fairly useful novice at Haydock last month and a repeat of that level may well suffice. Apiarist and Thirsk-winner Silent Move will ensure the selection doesn't have it all his own way.

LTO Selection:

18:15 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Only narrowly denied over this trip at Newcastle last time out, RAZZAM is fancied to build on that effort off the same mark here. Frederick Larson knocks 3lb off the gelding's back and, with more progression likely, the three-year-old can get the better of Hello Me, who drops in class following a creditable second at Chelmsford most recently. Momaer has been consistent of late and is another who warrants consideration.

HELLO ME is right at the top of her game and should be well positioned, so she takes marginal preference over Razzam and Le Beau Garcon, who both arrive on the back of solid showings but have wide draws to contend with. A case can be made for several others in a competitive event.

Minnetonka is interesting back at 6f but KIT GABRIEL shaped well on his stable debut and now has something to build on.

LTO Selection:

18:25 Clonmel Handicap 10f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The form of SLAMADOOR's win at Gowran Park last time has worked out well and she may be able to bag a follow up success. She got home by half a length then from Jazz Dreamers, who went on to win at Bellewstown, while the third horse, Simply Sideways, has been placed again since and has a chance to boost the form in the preceding race today. Tastyee has been performing consistently and was runner-up off this mark at Killarney last time. She could be a major player again. Chatterbox was just denied at Killarney recently and while she takes a significant drop in trip now she has to be on the shortlist having shown some decent form over shorter in the past.

PLUNKETT STREET upped his game when runner-up at a big price on handicap debut and he's worth a chance to improve enough to open his account at the expense of more-exposed types. Chatterbox and Slamadoor both deserve respect.

There's been some encouraging runs from SPECIAL PROTECTOR of late and she looks like a big player from the basement mark

18:35 Carlisle Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Denied by a narrow margin over C&D last time out, SHAHNAZ deserves a change in luck and she can claim a first victory since August 2022 here. Gemma Tutty's charge is now 11lb lower than her last winning mark and should have too much for the likes of Merricourt, and Yeeeaah, who has been placed on three of his last four starts. Others to note include Gracelands Girl, Royal Prospect and Willing To Please.

This looks likely to be run at a good pace which could well play to the strengths of MERRICOURT. He's been shaping up respectably in recent outings and, operating on a workable mark, he could well be ready to strike for his in-form yard. Yeeeaah and Royal Prospect head up the dangers, with Shahnaz another who can't be discounted from her much-reduced mark.

The smooth-travelling ROYAL PROSPECT (nap) was an eyecatcher at Newcastle last time, so earns the vote at a track which suits.

18:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 4) 8.5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The drop in trip looks set to suit MOONSPIRIT, who lost second inside the final furlong over 1m2f at Newcastle a week ago. The unexposed daughter of Kingman retains the mark from that run and is fancied to improve, but Yeoman can give her plenty to think about following a staying-on second over a mile most recently. A first-time visor could see Supaspecialawesome build on a decent second from his latest outing and he completes the shortlist.

The C&D handicap ROYAL DREAM won last month has worked out really well and he looked unlucky not to go closer when third at Kempton last week so he's the suggestion. His teammate Yeoman has a steadily progressive profile on AW and is second choice ahead of Moonspirit.

Moonspirit is respected, but ROYAL DREAM has progressed nicely in AW handicaps this summer and gets the vote.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

GRAPPA NONINO got a bit too far back when a staying on sixth in a competitive handicap over in York just over two weeks ago and may be able to strike again here in shallower waters. The Teofilo gelding had won at the Curragh previously and looks capable of going in again off this 6lb higher mark. Extensio was good on his hurdling debut at Roscommon last time and with that confidence boosting success under his belt he could run well back on the level again here. The six-year-old had been runner-up on his previous two Flat starts and is a consistent sort. Marvelosa is another who has been holding her form well and also has to be on the shortlist.

Having been shaping up well on the Flat in recent months, EXTENSIO continued the good work when opening his account over hurdles at Roscommon 4 weeks ago and, returned to this sphere, he's fancied to make another bold bid. Sheishybrid and Grappa Nonino are others to consider, with Marvelosa not out of things either.

Fresh from a winning hurdles debut, EXTENSIO gets the nod after a fine Curragh run prior to that win

IMPERIAL QUARTER made a pleasing start to her career when beaten just over two lengths over 1m at Newmarket and this looks like a good opportunity to get her head in front. Roger Varian's charge shaped as if this extra yardage should suit on that occasion and she could be hard to beat. The two debutants Man Of Monaco and Wadacre Maximus can also feature.

IMPERIAL QUARTER showed more than enough on debut to think she can win what looks a weak race unless one of the Johnston-trained newcomers is ready to go. Kintaro is quite closely matched with the selection in form terms but lacks her potential.

Dubawi filly IMPERIAL QUARTER shaped well when a running-on debut Newmarket fifth (form has been franked) and looks the way to go

LTO Selection:

19:15 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 3) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Young Fire is the only course and distance winner in the field and, as he has won five times off higher marks, the eight-year-old is hard to ignore. LIR SPECIALE is forced to carry top weight, but drops in class after disappointing twice at Ascot and returns to the all-weather having won twice at Kempton. He may be at his best on an artificial surface and could hold off the attentions of Koy Koy, who was not disgraced at Chester and has Billy Loughnane claiming 3lb here.

The majority have some sort of chance but it may pay to side with WHAT'S THE STORY, who has been holding his form well and hasn't had much racing for his current yard. Hafeet Alain could emerge as the main danger and United Front should benefit from a return to AW.

An open race in which Mick Appleby's UNITED FRONT gets the vote ahead of Hafeet Alain and What's The Story.

19:25 Clonmel Handicap 17f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Alex Harvey has impressed recently and he can bag another winner here on WILD SHOT. The nine-year-old has been in fine form and has run well on his last couple of outings over timber. He won well at Tramore when last seen on the Flat and is only 4lb higher now. Walnut Beach is another versatile dual-purpose performer who has been running well and was third to the selection at Tramore. At the revised terms he looks a danger. The Abbey has a lowly enough Flat rating and looks worth another chance at this game. He could be place material.

WILD SHOT has run 2 solid races over hurdles since his comfortable Flat success at Tramore in July and can strike for John McConnell. Walnut Beach was third to the selection at Tramore and is second choice ahead of Gordon Elliott's The Abbey, who has a productive spell over jumps this summer and has a basement mark to work with back on the Flat.

This can go the way of WILD SHOT (nap) who won well when last seen on the Flat and the handicapper may have let him off the hook

MARBUZET has racked up a sequence of placed efforts of late and he appears sure to run his race once again. The four-year-old is off the same mark as his third over 2m at Ripon last time and this drop in trip looks to be a positive. Oh So Chic also commands respect after a good second over 2m at Catterick last month, but she needs to defy a 1lb rise in the ratings, while The Navigator could be on a dangerous mark.

THE NAVIGATOR had little chance from his position well off the pace at Catterick last time and might be worth chancing from his reduced mark at a track which has often brought the best out of him on the Flat. The reliable Marbuzet should figure prominently again, while John Berry's Merrijig is less exposed than a lot of these and didn't fare too badly on last month's Newmarket handicap debut.

A few with chances but the vote goes to Tim Easterby's MARBUZET who is proving very reliable and can gain a deserved first win of 2023

Painters Palette

4.5/1(+25%)
(6) Painters Palette 4.5/1, Fine start for present yard when landing pair of course handicaps in the spring (latterly over C&D). Plenty of good efforts since, adding to his tally at Redcar (1m) prior to solid fourth at Newcastle (10.2f) 7 days ago. Remains of interest from this mark.
C&D winner; another solid effort when 4th at Newcastle last week; firmly in the mix.

Naxos

3.5/1(+30%)
(4) Naxos 3.5/1, Low-mileage sort who made it 2 from 3 in AW novice events on return at Newcastle (1m) in April. Unable to make an impact in Britannia Stakes (1m) after but back on the up when second at Newmarket (1m) 26 days ago. Unexposed at this trip and not discounted.
Unexposed two-time Tapeta winner; good 2nd at Newmarket latest; up 4lb but considered.

Graignes

10/1(-25%)
(1) Graignes 10/1, In resurgent form following a wind op, landing handicaps at Kempton/Sandown with plenty to spare prior to a good second at Goodwood (9.9f, heavy) 12 days ago. Possibly helped by where he raced then however and more needed now revised mark has kicked in.
Two ready wins this summer; perhaps ground not ideal latest but he's 9lb higher today.

Civil Law

7/1(-40%)
(3) Civil Law 7/1, Goes well at this track, bagging a pair of C&D handicaps late on last year. Largely shaped as if still in form during first half of this term, not seen to best effect when ninth at Kempton 912f) in June. Gone well fresh previously and return to this venue a plus.
Four course wins last year; handicapper on top in 2023 but return to Wolverhampton a plus.

Have Secret

5.5/1(-10%)
(7) Have Secret 5.5/1, Improved with each start last year, winning 2 nurseries, and has continued on the up this term too, making the frame in a trio of top 3-y-o handicaps. Never involved under a more patient ride when seventh at York (10.2f) 12 days ago but respected as one of only two 3-y-os in the line up.
Run well in some good handicaps this year; perhaps a stiffer test will be required though.

Kingori

(9) Kingori 9/1, 2-3 in AW maiden/novice events at 3 yrs and back on the up on second handicap start when second behind an upwardly-mobile sort at Newcastle (10.2f) in July. Not in same form switched to turf at Newmarket latest but no surprise to see a better showing back on an artificial surface.
Two AW wins and also ran well in a 1m2f handicap at Newcastle in July; less good latest.

Arcadian Nights

12/1(+0%)
(10) Arcadian Nights 12/1, 5-y-o who gained third success of the year over C&D in April. Respectable effort at Haydock later that month and he comes here having posted a career-best effort when second at Chepstow (1m) 4 weeks ago. Operating from career-high mark now but he's clearly in good heart.
Three AW wins early in the year (two over C&D); good second on turf latest; contender.

Carolus Magnus

10/1(+38%)
(5) Carolus Magnus 10/1, Fairly useful winner for Andrew Balding and threatening to come good for present yard, not seen to very best effect when fifth at Newcastle (10.2f) last week. Remains low-mileage and he's not underestimated.
Looks to retain good chunk of ability & one to consider, especially if they go quick early.

Marie's Diamond

16/1(-14%)
(2) Marie's Diamond 16/1, On a long losing run but he did run a cracker when second at York (10.2f) in May. Has been some way below that level on last 3 starts though, and whilst this ease in class is a plus, others arrive with more pressing claims.
Big chance on even this season's best now faced with a marked drop in grade.

11th (11) Lucky San Jore (22/1 -10%)
Lucky San Jore

22/1(-10%)
(11) Lucky San Jore 22/1, Dual C&D winner upon joining present yard last autumn and, following a couple of lesser efforts in the spring, he returned to form when fourth at Leicester (8.2f) 15 days ago, keeping on having been hampered at the start. Likely to give another good account back on AW.
Good record over C&D and ran well over an inadequate 1m last time; not discounted.
LTO Selection:

19:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 3) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Both Civil Law and ARCADIAN NIGHTS have good records here with eight course wins between them, and both look capable off their current marks. Preference is for the Mark Loughnane gelding who was a solid second at Chepstow last month. Upped 2lb for that, he returns to the all-weather and may go one better with a clear run. Naxos is another changing surface and, with his 2/3 record on the all-weather, he is also hard to overlook.

Unsurprisingly plenty arrive with claims and there could be a spot of value in KINGORI. He wasn't at his best on turf latest but his profile on all weather is a positive one and this low-mileage 4-y-o can prove his present mark a workable one. Painters Palette and Naxos head up the dangers, whilst Carolus Magnus is threatening to come good soon and is also worth keeping an eye on.

There are risks involved with MARIE'S DIAMOND but this is a drop in class and May's York second represents a strong piece of form.

Two wins here for the Johnstons; struggled for H Fry; sold £16,000 last month; risky.
LTO Selection:

20:15 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 3) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

PERCY JONES has been running well of late and he got his head in front last time, scoring over C&D. Mark Loughnane's charge has been raised 2lb in the ratings for that win and, while this is a hotter heat, that could prove lenient. Belgoprince is feared most after running out a decisive winner over 1m4f at Epsom and it would be no shock were he to defy a 5lb penalty, while similar comments apply to Glenister.

BELGOPRINCE arrives firmly at the top of his game, posting a career-best display when bagging the Amateurs' Derby at Epsom 10 days ago, and, turned out under a penalty, he could well be up to going in again with Billy Loughnane taking off a very handy 3 lb. Glenister made it 4 wins from his last 5 starts at Newcastle last week and he's a big threat with the prospect of more to come. Dark Island and The Thunderer complete the shortlist.

Belgoprince won in fine style at Epsom but he's up against another progressive one in GLENISTER (nap) this time.

LTO Selection:

20:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Despite running into a modest third over 6f at Newcastle last time, it is SPACE COWBOY who gets the nod to claim this prize. Richard Spencer's colt appears to be on a workable mark for his handicap debut. Lequinto has been a model of consistency of late and he should be thereabouts despite running off 4lb higher than his neck second over 6f at Windsor last time, while Tiger Crusade isn't ruled out either.

Stall 12 isn't ideal but 3-y-o CELTIC CHAMPION possesses the scope to rate higher before the year is out so he gets the nod in what is a very competitive contest. Mums Tipple eases slightly in class and is a big threat, along with Monsieur Kodi.

Get It is shortlisted but PRISONER'S DILEMMA is most interesting for an Irish trainer who's 8-29 with travellers in recent years.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
