1st (1) Rathbone (10/1 -67%)
Rathbone

10/1(-67%)
(1) Rathbone 10/1, Opened his account in decisive fashion for present connections at Sandown (5f, good) recently. Still on a handy mark up 7 lb and return to this trip won't be a problem but, given his patchy record this year, it remains to be seen if he'll be able to back that performance up.
C&D winner; most wins on good/quicker; has won on soft; well treated despite Sandown win.
2
2nd (5) Jump The Gun (14/1 -17%)
Jump The Gun

14/1(-17%)
(5) Jump The Gun 14/1, Bagged 7f handicaps here and at Ayr in 2022 but little to shout about so far this year and hopes pinned on a change of headgear (sports first-time blinkers) doing the trick.
Dual 7f winner in 2022; below latest winning mark but limited encouragement this year.
3
3rd (4) Abate (12/1 -20%)
Abate

12/1(-20%)
(4) Abate 12/1, Largely consistent this year and was registering his third success of the campaign when gamely seeing off 5 rivals over 5f at Windsor in July. By no means disgraced at Ripon last time but he appears to be most effective when allowed his own way up top in smaller fields.
Multiple handicap wins on good or quicker; has share of weight after three wins this year.
4
4th (3) Kodi Red (66/1 -65%)
Kodi Red

66/1(-65%)
(3) Kodi Red 66/1, Back-to-back winner for Adrian Murray in Ireland at 2 yrs but has failed to beat a rival home in a couple of starts so far this season. Plenty to prove starting out for a new yard in this competitive handicap.
Dual winner at about 5f in Ireland as 2yo; finished last in two runs this year; new yard.
5th
5th (12) Rambuso Creek (4.5/1 +10%)
Rambuso Creek

4.5/1(+10%)
(12) Rambuso Creek 4.5/1, Winless since scoring on his reappearance last season but caught the eye both starts following a break at Pontefract last month, latterly an unlucky-in-running fourth of 11 in a 6f handicap. Down another 2 lb and booking of star apprentice Billy Loughnane suggests that connections mean business.
Unexposed over 6f; promising 4th latest; acts on good to soft; more interesting than many.
6th
6th (13) Speedacus (11/1 +8%)
Speedacus

11/1(+8%)
(13) Speedacus 11/1, Dual 5f scorer this year, the latest here in July. Back to form following a couple of low-key efforts when fourth of 10 at Newmarket last time but his record over this trip tempers enthusiasm.
All wins at 5f, latest on soft here in July; just one worthwhile 6f run from five attempts.
7th
7th (2) Temple Bruer (8.5/1 -42%)
Temple Bruer

8.5/1(-42%)
(2) Temple Bruer 8.5/1, Winner of this race under Taylor Fisher 12 months ago and notched a third C&D success in June with Rathbone (2 lb pull) 2 lengths adrift in third. Also scored at Newmarket that month and, having performed with credit in Class 2 handicaps the last twice, he has to enter calculations.
3-4 over C&D, including this race in 2022; strong form latest; dry week would have suited.
8th
8th (10) Alpha Capture (4.5/1 +44%)
Alpha Capture

4.5/1(+44%)
(10) Alpha Capture 4.5/1, Scored twice as a juvenile, latterly at listed level at York. Largely underperformed so far this year but this represents a drop in class and the handicapper has given him a chance, so there is certainly cause for optimism.
Course form and Listed winner as 2yo; modest in 2023; big weights drop and down in grade.
9th
9th (15) Snash (11/1 +0%)
Snash

11/1(+0%)
(15) Snash 11/1, Successful twice last season and has acquitted himself well on several occasions this time round, not least when fifth in a big-field at Ripon on his penultimate start. Now down to a career-low mark but will probably find one or two too good all the same.
Well handicapped after slow season but embers stirred at Ripon in August (6f); of interest.
10th
10th (6) As If By Chance (14/1 +30%)
As If By Chance

14/1(+30%)
(6) As If By Chance 14/1, Not always the quickest off the blocks but he's an effective come-from-behind performer when on-song, as demonstrated by victories (both over 6f) at Windsor in May and under Alex Jary at Nottingham last month. However, needs to produce a career-best if he's to defy his current mark.
Rose to new heights when 6f winner in August (good to soft) but lesser effort since.
11th
11th (8) Strong Johnson (4/1 +20%)
Strong Johnson

4/1(+20%)
(8) Strong Johnson 4/1, Snapped a losing run when landing a 12-runner Redcar handicap (6f, good to firm) last month. Went down fighting off this 5 lb higher mark at Ripon 10 days later and another bold show is anticipated.
In fine form over 6f of late, including on good to soft; another good run looks assured.
12th
12th (9) San Isidro (33/1 -136%)
San Isidro

33/1(-136%)
(9) San Isidro 33/1, Multiple winner in France but he has barely beaten a rival home in half-a-dozen starts on this side of the Channel for James Ferguson. Probably best watched on debut for new yard.
Triple winner in France but never found a way in Britain; down weights; new yard.
13th
13th (14) A Pint Of Bear (33/1 +0%)
A Pint Of Bear

33/1(+0%)
(14) A Pint Of Bear 33/1, Enjoyed a productive 2021 campaign but missed whole of last year and has failed to beat a rival home in 2 starts since returning to action in May.
Progressive at 5f in 2021; missed 2022; faded both runs this year; lots to prove at 6f.
LTO Selection:

13:15 Doncaster Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

RATHBONE was a comfortable two-and-a-half-length victor in this grade at Sandown last time and he was raised 7lb for that. The seven-year-old struck off a mark of 90 in July last year, so he is still well treated and can record a double. The main threat might be Speedacus, who finished a close-up fourth at Newmarket and was dropped 2lb. Of the remainder, Abate and Temple Bruer make some appeal.

RAMBUSO CREEK left the strong impression that he's ready to strike when making the frame in a couple of handicaps at Pontefract last month, and he gets the nod with Billy Loughnane in the hot-seat. Strong Johnson is clearly in good nick and looks a big threat, while Alpha Capture also merits consideration eased in class off this reduced mark. Last year's winner Temple Bruer is another to consider.

Few will have rolled out the red carpet for the recent rain but in-form STRONG JOHNSON is less dependent on the surface than most.

Chic Colombine

2.25/1(+0%)
(7) Chic Colombine 2.25/1, Made the most of a good opportunity when opening her account in a Newcastle maiden (7.1f) in June and progressed a fair bit after 10 weeks off when making a winning nursery debut at Haydock (7f, good to firm) last week. Carries penalty and every chance of completing the hat-trick.
Looked well ahead of the handicapper at Haydock; encouragement for slow ground on paper.

Heritage House

12/1(-33%)
(11) Heritage House 12/1, Much improved as she got off the mark in a first-time tongue strap on nursery debut at Leicester (6f, good to firm) just over 3 weeks ago, leading over 1f out and just kept up to her work. Up 5 lb and likely to have more to offer.
Ready winner on handicap debut last month (6f, good to firm); more to come; ground query.

Granny Budgie

5.5/1(+21%)
(3) Granny Budgie 5.5/1, Showed further improvement to make it 3 wins from only the 4 starts in nursery at Hamilton (6f, good to soft) just under 3 weeks ago, again helped by having a strong gallop to aim at. Hiked up another 7 lb but she could have more to come.
Won 3 of her 4 starts and today's longer trip can spark further improvement; handles soft.
4
4th (5) Bellarchi (7/1 -27%)
Bellarchi

7/1(-27%)
(5) Bellarchi 7/1, Arrives firmly on the up, completing a hat-trick with a comfortable success at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Carries a penalty and has to be taken seriously in her bid for a 4-timer.
Flourishing this month and created a positive impression at Hamilton latest; big chance.
5th
5th (10) Jumeirah Breeze (7/1 +13%)
Jumeirah Breeze

7/1(+13%)
(10) Jumeirah Breeze 7/1, Cost plenty as a yearling and found only one too good in a Newmarket maiden in June. Disappointed next time but shaped well by the end on her first run in a nursery when runner-up at Leicester (6f, good to firm) last month, finishing with a flourish. One to look out for.
Second to a handicap blot on nursery debut; good mark but slow ground looks a worry.
6th
6th (9) Summit (14/1 -40%)
Summit

14/1(-40%)
(9) Summit 14/1, Runner-up on second start in minor event at Newmarket (7f, good) in July but proved to be a disappointment back sprinting when fourth at Carlisle (5.8f, good to firm) just over 3 weeks ago. Cheekpieces applied for handicap debut.
Backward step at Carlisle 3 weeks ago; may improve but slow ground a query; headgear now.
7th
7th (2) Chinese Knot (6.5/1 +19%)
Chinese Knot

6.5/1(+19%)
(2) Chinese Knot 6.5/1, Breakthrough win came at Yarmouth (5.2f) in July and doubled tally at Chepstow over 6f a fortnight later, keeping on well. Ran creditably in her bid to complete a Racing League hat-trick when third at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 4 weeks ago and can get in the mix again.
Two wins in sprint nurseries this summer (good to soft); career best required to take this.
8th
8th (4) Lincoln Legacy (11/1 +56%)
Lincoln Legacy

11/1(+56%)
(4) Lincoln Legacy 11/1, Footstepsinthesand filly who was ridden more patiently and gained second win in a Newmarket nursery (7f) last month, quickening well out wide. Not in anything like the same form under a penalty at York since, so will need to bounce back.
Two wins; perhaps mitigating circumstances for latest lesser effort; career best needed.
9th
9th (8) Yeah Nah (25/1 +0%)
Yeah Nah

25/1(+0%)
(8) Yeah Nah 25/1, Kodiac filly who got off to a winning start in professional manner at Salisbury (6f, good) last month but shaped as if amiss in a valuable sales event at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Needs to get back on track now handicapping.
6f winner on debut before struggling in a sales race 19 days ago; unexposed but needs more.
10th
10th (6) Misemerald (22/1 +33%)
Misemerald

22/1(+33%)
(6) Misemerald 22/1, Zoffany filly who bagged maiden/novice events at Beverley/Ayr before a sound second under a penalty at latter-named venue last month. Shaped a bit better than the bare result on nursery debut at York (7f, good to firm) but this mark demands more.
Two wins this summer but mark looks high and slower than good to soft would be a query.
LTO Selection:

13:50 Doncaster Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

CHIC COLOMBINE made light work of her opening nursery mark at Haydock when cruising to victory, and she can cope with the quick turnaround even with 6lb extra. The daughter of Seahenge has far from reached her ceiling yet and she could prove tough to beat. Granny Budgie is 3-4 so far in her young career and warrants plenty of respect off 7lb higher than her latest success at Hamilton. Summit tries first-time cheekpieces on her nursery bow and is another to be interested in.

A valuable contest in which it could pay to focus on the pair of penalised runners CHIC COLOMBINE and Bellarchi, with preference for the former having taken a significant step forward following a break when scoring on handicap debut at Haydock last week. Grant Tuer's charge arrives on the back of a hat-trick, so she's sure to give the selection plenty to think about, with Heritage House and Granny Budgie another couple fancied to go well.

Slow ground will be a new experience for CHIC COLOMBINE but she looked miles ahead of her opening mark at Haydock last week.

13:55 Naas Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

While Sweetest is sure to prove all the rage, it might be worth taking her on. Returned an odds-on chance on her two starts to date, she had to settle for minor honours on both occasions. For a selection, EMERALD BANNER gets the nod. A sister to Group 1 winner Millisle, she improved from start one to two, going down by just three-parts-of-a-length on her latest outing at Navan. Vivienda ran a fine race to finish third on debut over the course and distance last month and with that experience under her belt, it'll come as no surprise if she manages to go a few places better now. Ringabella is perhaps the most interesting of the five newcomers in the line-up. She holds an entry in the Cheveley Park Stakes and is a half-sister to Waikuku and Waipiro, with the former a three-time winner at the highest level in Hong Kong.

SWEETEST again failed to justify cramped odds in a C&D maiden 18 days ago, yet that shouldn't detract from what was another promising effort from Aidan O'Brien's filly and, with further progress on the cards, she can make it third time lucky. Emerald Banner, back up in trip, and Vivienda, who was a place behind the selection on her debut, head up the dangers.

Having gone close against what looks a smart colt over 5f at Navan last time, EMERALD BANNER can go one better today.

14:05 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HEARTRATE shed his maiden tag at the eighth time of asking at Tipperary in May and that form is working out very well, with three subsequent winners coming out of the race. The three-year-old now makes his first start for the Mark Loughnane stable and he could be well up to defying his opening mark of 68. Zoukster scored when he was last seen over this trip at Salisbury, and he is three wins from his last five starts. Lord P is best of the rest.

HEARTRATE beat a subsequent winner when off the mark at the eighth attempt in a maiden at Tipperary and his opening mark looks a good one starting out for a new stable. Vape is now back on his last winning mark so is feared along with The Cruising Lord, who's dropping back down in class.

The oldest runner THE CRUISING LORD is still on a workable mark after his Newbury win in July and will find this easier than last time.

QUEEN'S MUSIC shaped with considerable promise when a neck second on debut at Lingfield late last month and she is taken to come out on top switching to the turf for the first time. Noo Point ran well enough in a French Listed race last time and is a major player dropping back into novice company. Newcomers Change For Good and Clyde Bay both need market checks.

Preference is for QUEEN'S MUSIC, who should have learnt plenty from her recent encouraging Lingfield debut. Juantorena and Noo Point look the likeliest dangers.

The vote goes to QUEEN'S MUSIC, who is a half-sister to six winners and made a good start when going close at Lingfield 15 days ago.

LTO Selection:

14:25 Doncaster Stakes (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

JOHANNES BRAHMS sets a lofty standard in this, with a rating of 106 after his second in the Gimcrack at York, and he still has bundles of improvement in him. The son of Siyouni could prove very difficult to beat against this level of competition. The main danger is Dragon Leader, who was an impressive winner by over four lengths at York and is unbeaten in three starts, so he could have a say. Komat wasn't disgraced in fifth in the Princess Margaret at Ascot and she holds solid each-way claims.

A big field as usual for this valuable prize but it's still hard to ignore the claims of DRAGON LEADER, who romped home in a similar race at York last month and can make the most of the 10 lb he receives from likely main danger Johannes Brahms. Amo Racing pair Komat and Flaccianello should be involved in the battle for minor honours along with Room Service and Run Boy Run.

Slow ground would complicate matters to an extent but otherwise this looks a toss up between DRAGON LEADER and Johannes Brahms.

LTO Selection:

14:30 Naas Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Out of American Grade 3 winner Hostess, MILITARY won't have to be a star to take this on debut. Bought for 375,000 guineas as a yearling, the Siyouni colt holds a whole host of big race entries. The 84-rated Mr Saturday is the obvious danger. He filled the runner-up spot on his first two starts, but has been disappointing since. Ger Lyons looks to have found a nice opportunity for the Blue Point gelding and it'll come as no surprise if he manages to make the breakthrough. Darren Bunyan has his horses in fine form of late and his Valentino Express warrants respect after finishing a solid sixth on debut over the course and distance. Laugier Night is a half-brother to La Pelosa, a winner at the highest level in America, and the Noel Meade-trained colt is another for the shortlist.

MILITARY makes plenty of appeal on paper starting out for Aidan O'Brien and boasts some tasty entries, so it would be no surprise to see him make a winning start in a pretty thin maiden. Mr Saturday sets the standard and is the clear danger.

The expensively-bought Ballydoyle colt MILITARY is by the same sire as current stars Paddington and Tahiyra, so could well win on debut

LTO Selection:

14:40 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Hedge Fund made all to go in by just under a length at Wolverhampton on his nursery bow, which was a pleasing display, but he will find it tough off a 4lb higher mark. For that reason, the vote goes to NOTTA NOTHER, who was an encouraging fourth at Sandown in a class 4 event and the handicapper has been kind enough to drop him 2lb for that effort. Crooked Crown sports first-time blinkers and completes the shortlist.

HEDGE FUND showed improved form despite still showing signs of inexperience when scoring on nursery debut at Wolverhampton just under a fortnight ago and with even better to come he's fancied to follow up at the expense of Notta Nother, who looked unsuited by the drop to 5f last time but should be in the mix dropped into Class 5 company. Crooked Crown can fill out third spot.

This is a drop in grade for NOTTA NOTHER, who put in good late work late time and now looks well handicapped on his maiden win.

LTO Selection:

14:50 Epsom Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The presence of both Bowman and Larado suggests that this could be run at a solid tempo and as a result it may set up nicely for MAGICAL MERLIN. The selection has cheekpieces on for the first time and has often shaped as though this trip would be within his reach, so the three-year-old is taken to add to his tally. Marlay Park hasn't been firing of late but is dangerous here.

RESTRICT showed the benefit of a recent run when edged out only on the line at Newbury on his turf debut 16 days ago, so he is taken to build on that to resume winning ways. The 3-y-o can get the better of Larado, who bounced back to form at this C&D last time, while Redredrobin continues in good heart and can be thereabouts once more.

Preference is for the lightly raced 3yo RESTRICT, who resumed his progress with a near-miss on his turf debut at Newbury last time.

15:00 Doncaster Group 2 (Class 1) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Karl Burke, who won the 2017 renewal of this race with the high-class Laurens, has another live chance with DARNATION, who impressed with the manner of her victory in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes last month. That piece of form sets the bar high and recent maiden winners Romanova and See The Fire both need to take significant steps forward if they are going to trouble the selection. Therefore, Newmarket novice winner Meribella, a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Poet's Voice, rates as a bigger threat.

DARNATION is improving well, having no problem with testing conditions when landing the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood last time, and she can continue her progress with the step up in trip to suit. Karl Burke's filly is taken to see off the challenge of Romanova, who won in good style at the second attempt, with See The Fire completing the shortlist.

Darnation and Hard To Resist are big players on form, while ROMANOVA and See The Fire look very promising.

KING CUAN didn't live up to market expectations when fourth to Nemonte at the Curragh in May when both horses were making their debuts. Given plenty of time to mature by Paddy Twomey, the Tasleet colt bolted up in a maiden on quick ground at Cork last week and can reverse form with his Curragh conqueror. Nemonte, who recorded a second win at Roscommon last month, hasn't been able to land a blow in Group company including at Leopardstown last weekend and may be better suited by an extra furlong. James's Delight made a winning start at Newbury in July and wasn't beaten far when fourth in another novice contest at Windsor. Jakajaro has shown smart form in nurseries and was giving away lumps of weight when fourth to Duplantis at the Curragh last month.

A valuable contest. KING CUAN looked highly promising when effortlessly drawing clear of his rivals in a Cork auction event last week and could take a bit of stopping assuming he can cope with 2 outings in fairly quick succession. The Clive Cox-trained British raider James's Delight is another who is likely capable of better after only 2 starts and is second choice ahead of Jakajaro and Nemonte.

Given a break after being an unlucky loser behind Nemonte on debut, KING CUAN bolted up at Cork recently and will take stopping.

MAJOR MAJOR is two from his last two since stepping up in trip, and he did it well when justifying favouritism at Windsor. The three-year-old now has to compete off a 4lb higher rating, which is unlikely to halt his progression. Last-time-out victor Different Tone is unexposed over this distance and has to be considered off a 4lb higher mark, while any market support for Navarre Express on her handicap bow should be noted.

DIFFERENT TONE improved for the longer trip when scoring at Lingfield and he looks capable of defying a 4 lb rise. Hat-trick seeking Major Major is a professional sort and looks the obvious threat.

Stoutly bred 3yo DIFFERENT TONE (nap) looked very well suited by the step up to 1m4f when finishing strongly to win readily last month.

LTO Selection:

15:25 Epsom Handicap (Class 4) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A wide-open renewal but slight preference is for PRINCE ALEX, who has not been with Dominic Ffrench Davis very long and shaped like a win could be imminent when third last time. Fulfilled remains firmly on the improve and is likely to be in the thick of things once more. The Whipmaster was a touch unlucky not to win at Windsor a month ago and shouldn't be far away.

CARDANO has made a positive start for this stable and is worth another chance off a tempting mark having been stretched by the longer trip at Yarmouth last time. The Whipmaster went close at Windsor 4 weeks ago so is shortlisted, with Fulfilled and Prince Alex others to consider.

This can go to THE WHIPMASTER, who went close in a Racing League event at Windsor last time and is a big player if he can back that up.

15:35 Doncaster Group 2 (Class 1) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

John and Thady Gosden have been involved with four of the last eight winners of this race and the yard boasts a strong hand again, as the improving One Evening tackles the next stage of her development. However, this is a step up in class and trip for the daughter of Galileo and it may pay to stick with proven stayer SUMO SAM, whose surprise Group 2 Lillie Langtry romp at Goodwood was a highly impressive display. Ching Shih and Boogie Woogie are also considered.

Not a strong renewal but very much a wide-open one. CHING SHIH looked suited by the step up in trip when runner-up to a smart 3-y-o colt in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury and shades the vote back against her own sex. Sumo Sam is another who seemingly showed much-improved form when a wide-margin winner (in the mud) of the Lillie Langtry at Goodwood and further rain will enhance her claims, while One Evening his high on the shortlist given her yard's excellent record in this.

An open-looking Park Hill may go to CHING SHIH. Second choice is Sumo Sam, ahead of Golden Lyra.

BUDDY BATT, from a useful sprinting family, led home a 1-2-4 for the Bunyan stable in a Bellewstown maiden over this trip last month. He goes well for 7lb claimer Dean Curran and can make a successful transition to handicap company. Glamorously ran well in a C&D maiden in July and had Veracidad back in third when runner-up in a nursery over a bit further at Navan. She was no match for the winner who lines up in the preceding sales race but may be suited by the return to the minimum distance. Si Senior didn't give her running last time when well behind Glamorously but if returning to the form of her maiden win at Sligo would be a major player while Milliethemollie ran well over C&D on her second start and may be able to make an impact with headgear fitted for her handicap bow.

BUDDY BATT showed big improvement when off the mark in a Bellewstown maiden and he's taken to follow up off what looks a handy opening mark. Glamorously and Veracidad can place again.

With Dean Curran taking off 7lb BUDDY BATT has good prospects of adding to his Bellewstown maiden win.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CHEQUERS COURT made a pleasing start to his career when running into a modest fourth over 7f at Newbury, and he looks primed to offer a bold bid. Richard Hannon's charge is fancied to make his presence felt in these calmer waters and this looks a good chance to shed the maiden tag. Validated is likely to pose the biggest threat to the selection after successive placed efforts, while Green Sigma is respected on debut.

CHEQUERS COURT made an encouraging start to his career at Newbury last month and is narrowly preferred to Sir Mark Prescott's Validated in what may develop into a straight fight between the pair unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding one or more of the newcomers.

Richard Hannon's CHEQUERS COURT kept on nicely for fourth in a good Newbury maiden last month and ought to build on that performance.

16:00 Epsom Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MREMBO arrives here seeking a hat-trick after wins at Bath and Windsor recently and she can add to her winning sequence here. Jonathan Portman's charge is 10lb higher than last time but the in-form filly should not be underestimated. Lethal Touch is the biggest danger after a good win over C&D last month and she appears likely to be thereabouts once again, while Lost In Time also deserves a closer look.

LETHAL TOUCH looked better than ever when scoring over C&D last month and should make another bold bid. Mrembo is the obvious threat as she goes for the hat-trick, with C&D winner Arenas del Tiempo best of the others.

Hat-trick seeker Mrembo is respected but preference is for LETHAL TOUCH, who was as good as ever with her win over C&D last time.

LTO Selection:

16:10 Doncaster Handicap (Class 2) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Having finished a respectable fifth in the German Derby when last seen, If Not Now commands respect, while Obelix makes plenty of appeal for John and Thady Gosden and, given that yard's stellar recent strike-rate in this race, the son of Sea The Stars goes on the shortlist. However, SISYPHUS STRENGTH, a game second in a heritage handicap at York's Ebor meeting, arguably arrives on the back of her best effort yet and her proven effectiveness over this trip earns her the vote.

Handicap newcomer KINGFISHER KING travelled like the best horse in the contest when a close second at Hamilton last time, pulling well clear with a useful rival, and he's fancied to confirm that potential in a particularly interesting contest. Sisyphus Strength came close to supplementing her Newmarket win at York and the filly perhaps rates as the main danger, with Burglar also a leading player having seemingly reacted positively to the fitting of a hood last time.

Off a low weight, IRON LION (nap) could well follow up his C&D novice success. Kingfisher King is second choice.

LTO Selection:

16:15 Naas Handicap 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Most of these are open to plenty of improvement on just their first or second starts in handicap company and a chance is taken with TATUM. Noel Meade's daughter of Postponed will probably be one for middle distances next term and will appreciate stepping up to this stiff mile having kept on steadily into fifth in a Galway festival maiden. In-form Jamie Powell's claim leaves her with a nice light weight. Shane Foley sticks with Navan runner-up Guest Star who renews rivalry with Nika Pika but Jessica Harrington's other runner, Pomeriggio, is also of interest in first-time headgear. She stayed on for third at Roscommon and is stoutly bred on the damside so may improve for this longer distance. Sun Never Sets, also fitted with cheekpieces, is another that looks ready for a mile having finished well over 7f when third in a Curragh nursery.

The return to this trip looks a good thing where SUN NEVER SETS is concerned after she kept on into third behind the progressive Asian Daze at the Curragh recently. The addition of cheekpieces may also help eke out a bit more and she gets the nod ahead of Guest Star, who was just touched off by Nika Pika at Navan a fortnight ago and enjoys a healthy pull at the weights with that rival here. Basilah Bear and Enthralling are others with claims in what looks a competitive nursery.

This looks very open. SUN NEVER SETS gets a hopeful vote to step up after a couple of third placings

LTO Selection:

16:25 Ffos Las Maiden (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This race seems to revolve around the performance of debutant MARIRAH, who arrives here for the in-form Roger Varian stable and is taken to get off the mark at the first time of asking. This well-bred daughter of Kingman is related to plenty of winners who have succeeded at this trip and she is likely to offer a bold bid. Naturelle rates as the biggest danger after a very pleasing start to her career when second over 7f at Chepstow, while Minka completes the shortlist.

MUBHIJAH has had a few chances but the form she's achieved when runner-up on her last 3 outings should be good enough to win a race like this and she can make a successful start for new trainer Ed Walker. A strong market move for her debuting former stablemate Marirah would make her a potential big threat. Chepstow second Naturelle should also get involved.

Roger Varian could provide the answer with his well-bred newcomer MARIRAH. Chepstow runner-up Naturelle is next on the list.

16:35 Epsom Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ANTICIPATING made a pleasing start to her handicap career when running on well into fourth over an extended 1m3f at Windsor on her latest outing and she gets the nod. Ectocross is feared most after finishing second over 1m2f at this venue last time, although he was wayward in the closing stages that day, while Sapristi could also have a say.

ANTICIPATING showed improved form despite looking in need of a stronger gallop when fourth at Windsor last month, and with several rivals who can go forward in opposition here, she should get a more favourable set-up and is worth chancing to make her second handicap start a winning one. Sapristi ran well on her first outing for Tom Clover last time and also makes plenty of appeal, as does Ectocross, who has ran well over shorter trips here on his last 2 outings.

The ex-Irish SAPRISTI (nap) made a good start for her new yard when runner-up at Windsor and is a big player if she can back that up.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

EL JASOR improved for the step up to this distance when scoring narrowly at Newbury last month and, with more improvement expected, he can follow up off a 6lb higher mark. Similar comments apply to City Streak, who did it well at Ascot last time out, while In The Breeze is another to consider on the back of scoring in two of his last three starts.

HARAPPAN has looked a good prospect in a couple of outings for Iain Jardine and makes plenty of appeal on his switch to handicapping. El Jasor and In The Breeze rate the principal dangers.

The vote goes to HARAPPAN who looks open to a fair bit more progress now going into handicaps and can complete a quick hat-trick here

16:50 Naas Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BRIGHT STRIPES ran a cracker in the valuable Ballyhane Stakes here last month and could prove hard to beat now back in maiden company. The Starsspangledbanner colt ran on strongly close home when third to Golden Trick in the E300,000 contest and a repeat of that performance should be enough to collect now. Byzantine Empress has been knocking on the door but has a mark of 68 and it would be disappointing if Bright Stripes couldn't account for her despite giving away half a stone. Ocean Odyssey could be a potential improver in the field. He went to post favourite on his debut at Leopardstown but after running freely early found trouble in running down the straight before finishing fifth to Making Time. He's capable of stepping forward from that.

While several of these are open to improvement, BRIGHT STRIPES nevertheless stands out on the back his fine effort in a valuable 6f sales race here last month. This step up in trip will be in his favour and he will surely prove hard to beat. Take Me To Church and Ocean Odyssey, both of whom shaped well on their respective debuts at Cork and Leopardstown, are feared most in that order of preference, while Special Angel may also build on the promise she showed at Dundalk.

Best of the home team when third in a valuable sales race here last month, BRIGHT STRIPES will be hard to beat in this company

16:55 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

MOSTALLIM has won over this course and distance before and it would be no surprise to see him go well in a race of this nature. There may be more to come from Rhythmic Acclaim, who was sent off favourite here last time but she was slowly away on that occasion and could bounce back. However, Brilliant Blue has been running well enough in defeat of late and may prove to be the biggest danger.

MOSTALLIM wasn't at his best when racing without his usual headgear here last time but blinkers are back on now and he's selected to land a second C&D win of the year. Northern raider Starjik has a first, second and third to show from his 3 visits here so he's a must for the shortlist. Big Time Maybe could also have a say if a lesser run last time is forgiven.

There are surely races to be won with RHYHTMIC ACCLAIM off this mark and she's given another chance at this modest level.

17:00 Ffos Las Handicap (Class 4) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FINEST LEADER remains on a large upward curve having been narrowly beaten by another progressive rival at Kempton last week. He's due to go up another 4lb so this looks a solid opportunity to gain a fourth win of the season. Honeymooner is another youngster on the improve and is likely to ask plenty of questions of the selection. The step up in trip may see Heat Of The Moment in a better light too.

Two well-handicapped 3-y-os clash here. FINEST LEADER improved again when only narrowly denied by a fellow improver (pair 7 lengths clear) at Kempton last week and is preferred to Honeymooner, who looks to have got off lightly with just a 6lb rise for her comfortable Bath success.

It's hard to oppose FINEST LEADER, who has made rapid progress in recent months and is 4lb well in after a big run in defeat last week.

17:10 Epsom Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The ability to handle this unique track often counts for plenty, and that could see NEW HEIGHTS record back-to-back course and distance victories. The daughter of Intello bounced back to form in first-time cheekpieces (retained) 56 days ago and a subsequent 3lb rise looks more than fair. Dion Baker can follow the selection home ahead of the Daniel and Claire Kubler-trained Bowland Park.

DION BAKER arrives on the back of a couple of narrow defeats at Brighton/Yarmouth and this track should suit his style. Grey Fox has been shaping well of late so is another to consider along with New Heights, who is 2 from 2 over this C&D.

This looks wide open but OTAGO gets the vote ahead of New Heights and Dion Baker.

17:20 Doncaster Handicap (Class 3) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

NELLIE LEYLAX is really progressive and the hat-trick looks very much on the cards on the back of another smooth success at Haydock last time out. Conditions should be in his favour once more, and the son of Calyx is preferred to stylish Sandown winner Spanish Blaze and Mafnood, who should have enough pace for dropping back in trip having scored at Haydock over a mile.

MAFNOOD impressed with the way he travelled and showed improved form in the process when making his third start a winning one at Haydock (1m) 5 weeks ago. It was an effort backed up by the clock, and this drop back in trip will hold no fears, so he holds sound claims on nursery bow. Spanish Blaze impressed with his finishing effort when successful at Sandown at the start of the month and is feared, along with another going the right way, Nellie Leylax

Granted suitable ground, NELLIE LEYLAX could well show further progress and win again. Mafnood is second choice.

All eyes will be on GALLANTLY here with the Frankel colt rumoured to be the horse that Seamie Heffernan was referring to when he said that the best Ballydoyle two-year-old had yet to hit the track. The Frankel colt is the first foal of French Guineas winner Precieuse and holds an entry in next month's Dewhurst. No form to go in this and the market may prove the best guide. Jessica Harrington's newcomer Bluedrum is by Blue Point and she is out of Drumfad Bay, a listed winner for the yard a few years ago. Donnacha O'Brien's charge At Dawn is another nicely bred debutante. She is by the legendary Galileo out of Group 3 winner Coral Beach.

Aidan O'Brien and Jessica Harrington have dominated this newcomers' maiden and GALLANTLY and Bluedrum might be the pair to focus on before market clues. Keeper's Heart is another to note.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained GALLANTLY sticks out here as a colt by Frankel out of a French Guineas winner. He is rumoured to be smart.

LOOBY bolted up on her nursery debut over an extended 5f at Brighton last week and the daughter of Havana Grey looks to be well ahead of her mark under a 6lb penalty here. Scoops Ahoy is an obvious danger based on the pick of his form and he may give the selection most to do. There could be more to come from Nouveaux now that she moves into handicap company and Hollie Doyle is an eye-catching booking.

LOOBY justified good support when readily off the mark in a Brighton nursery 10 days ago and wisely turned out under a penalty, she looks the one to beat switched to the all-weather. Scoops Ahoy can give her most to think about.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

CEILIDH has been knocking on the door for a while and ran a cracker at Brighton last time. The winner of that race has bolted up again since and he can gain a deserved success. The Cola Kid is another consistent sort and is highly likely to be involved in the finish. Lady Gazelle and Gonzaga have both hinted that there should be more to come and can't be dismissed.

THE COLA KID is by far the most solid proposition in this line-up and can notch a second course win of the summer. Lady Gazelle has fewer convictions than the majority and is second choice on the back of her recent Southwell handicap debut fourth. Ceilidh and White Mist also make the shortlist.

One with some potential is 3yo filly LADY GAZELLE, who moves up in trip after a very encouraging fourth on her handicap debut.

CANADIANSMOKESHOW struck in a first-time hood over the mile at Brighton two starts ago, before looking outpaced over 7f at Newmarket last month. Eased 1lb in the ratings and back up in trip, Sean Woods' filly might be worth taking a chance on. Rose Bolt wasn't disgraced on her handicap debut at Kempton but she could be more effective now back on turf, while Kentucky Bluegrass heads the remainder.

Impossible to rule out any of the sextet but preference is for OVERNIGHT OATS, who shaped better than the bare result when down the field at Newbury just over a fortnight ago and can resume his progress now upped in trip. Rose Bolt wasn't helped by the way things unfolded on her handicap debut at Kempton last month, so she may emerge as the main threat now fitted with first-time headgear, with Shot of Love rounding off the shortlist.

Shot Of Love comes here following a good run at Thirsk but it may pay to give KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS another chance.

18:00 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

On both starts to date, BLOWN AWAY has shaped as if this step up to a mile would bring about some improvement and he can get off the mark at the third attempt. The unexposed Stormy Waves is likely to be in the mix once again and he may improve for a recent gelding operation. Baraq, a son of Frankel, is a fascinating newcomer and requires a market check, while similar comments apply to Chelsea Harbour.

There was definite promise to glean from both of STORMY WAVES exploits in novice company on turf earlier this term and, having been gelded subsequently, it would come as no surprise to see him make a bold bid from a handy draw upped to 1m for the first time. That said, Blown Away has displayed plenty of promise himself and he's a major danger for the John & Thady Gosden yard. Al Mootamarid and Let's Dream are others expected to be thereabouts.

18:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DOVES OF PEACE was a good third over 7f at Lingfield last time and he did not get a clear passage on that occasion. The three-year-old could take plenty of beating here with better luck and this extra yardage is unlikely to be an issue. Starry Eyes appears primed to offer the sternest resistance to the selection based on her win at Chepstow two starts ago, while Elusive Tiger and My Opinion head the remainder.

It's still relatively early days where MY OPINION is concerned and he is appealing now upped to a mile on the back of a promising effort at Wolverhampton. Doves of Peace and Elusive Tiger are other low-mileage types with decent claims, while last year's winner Laurentia needs considering, for all that she's yet to fire since joining the Laura Mongan yard.

Low-mileage 4yo MY OPINION shaped well when a running-on fifth at Wolverhampton last time and can gain a deserved breakthrough success

Ex-Irish maiden; not easily recommended on stable debut but this is a drop in grade.
LTO Selection:

19:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Bo Taifan shaped as if this step back up in trip would suit when sixth over 7f at Wolverhampton last month and he is likely to be thereabouts, but preference is for SHABS. Joseph Parr's charge showed a willing attitude when scoring in classified company over course and distance last time and he can follow up that win here. El Royale edges out Clandestinely to be best of the rest.

The vote goes to BO TAIFAN, who wasn't seen to best effect back from a break at Wolverhampton but was in good form prior to that, landing a 7f handicap here and a 1m minor event at Lingfield earlier in the summer. On the latter occasion he cosily beat the re-opposing Shabs and a 3 lb swing is unlikely to be enough for that rival to turn the tables. Still, Shabs, who finally got his head in front over C&D 3 weeks ago, is clear second choice ahead of El Royale and Golden Moon.

LTO Selection:

19:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

JUSTCALLMEPETE was a good winner over course and distance last time and this looks like a good opportunity to follow up that success. James Evans' gelding enjoyed the return to the all weather that day and a 5lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to halt his progression. Open Mind is on a workable mark based on the pick of his form and the four-year-old should not be underestimated, while Batal Dubai can also hit the frame.

BATAL DUBAI tasted defeat for the first time on the all-weather at Newcastle a fortnight ago but that was a stronger race than this and, moreover, the drop to 5f counted against him. He still looks fairly treated and is taken to resume winning ways now returned to his optimum trip. Justcallmepete did the job well over C&D last time and is feared most ahead of Open Mind and Clipsham La Habana.

20:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

It might pay to side with GUSTAV UCICKY, who was narrowly denied on his debut for the Gay Kelleway team recently. He's 2lb higher now, but the three-year-old still looks well handicapped at this level. Dulcet Spirit continues to run well and is likely to be in the thick of things once more, while multiple C&D winner Monaadhil is only 1lb higher than his last winning mark and cannot be ruled out.

SPREZZATURA was beaten only by a couple of well-treated sorts at Lingfield last week and can get off the mark at the third attempt for his new yard. Dulcet Spirit and Gustav Ucicky head the list of dangers.

Granted 7f on Polytrack for the first time since January's Kempton second, CORAL REEF can reverse Ffos Las form with Sprezzatura.

20:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SHE'S A MIRAGE defeated a subsequent winner when successful over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last month and the daughter of Kodiac is fancied to follow up from 5lb higher. Lawmans Blis was victorious at the same venue last time and could prove to be the main danger to the selection. Sun Festival edges out Sunset In Paris and Wallaroo to be the pick of the remainder.

The one who appeals most is SUN FESTIVAL, who has come up short both starts subsequent to his Brighton romp in July but he remains feasibly treated and this race won't take a great deal of winning. Hot Team performed with credit at Leicester on Tuesday and has already shown this year that he can handle races in quick succession. He's feared most, while Sunset In Paris is worth considering from an each-way point of view.

An interesting alternative to She's A Mirage could be COLLEGE WIZARD, better than the bare form in a C&D classified latest.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
