FARANDAWAY's second-placed finish behind Bob Mali at Ayr in August sets a decent standard and, assuming the son of Far Above has thrived at home since, he could be hard to beat with the ground conditions to suit. Hi Lord also showed promise when he filled the runner-up spot on his racecourse debut at Hamilton last month and, with improvement likely, he rates the chief threat to the selection. Genius Mistake completes the shortlist.

Grant Tuer's FARANDAWAY looked to have more to offer when runner-up at Ayr last time out so gets the vote in this fair juvenile maiden having been gelded since. Genius Mistake is next on the list on the back of her good Wolverhampton second, with Hi Lord not discounted either if, as expected, building on his debut Hamilton second.

Hi Lord made an encouraging debut when runner-up late last month and is second choice but FARANDAWAY is selected to break his duck.

MILAN AC posted his best effort to date when runner-up at Ffos Las in May and he enters handicaps off what looks a workable mark. The six-year-old should appreciate this stiffer test of stamina and a breakthrough victory could be on the cards. The progressive It's Maisy scored four times over hurdles last season and she isn't taken lightly on her return to action. Stable debutant Schalke lurks on an attractive mark and market support would be interesting.

This is wide open so at the likely odds it is worth siding with SCHALKE to capitalise on an attractive mark now starting out with Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero. Pipers Cross and Kiss My Face are also worthy of consideration. Face d'Music completes the shortlist.

An open race. PIPERS CROSS compiled a solid profile in handicaps for her previous yard and can continue the good work.
Class & Speed Card

255,000-pound point recruit Belliano must enter calculations now under the tutelage of Paul Nicholls on his hurdles bow. The five-year-old was a taking winner on his sole outing between the flags in Ireland and he is likely to be at the forefront of the betting. However, THE NEW LION looked one to keep the right side of after scoring on his bumper debut at Market Rasen in ready fashion last season and he shades the verdict. D'jo Dela Barriere looks best of the remainder.

THE NEW LION impressed when coming readily clear in a modestly-run bumper on his Market Rasen debut in April and is sure to have been well prepared ahead of this switch to hurdling, so he makes plenty of appeal representing an in-form yard. Belliano is a fascinating Rules debutant having been bought for big money following an Irish point success and strong market support for him would put a slightly different slant on matters. Kayf Dancer is another to consider.

Dan Skelton's THE NEW LION created a seriously good impression on his bumper debut in the spring and is given the vote.
Class & Speed Card

This could revolve around the top two in the handicap and while Kyber Crystal is a notably strong contender at this level these days, FORTUNATE STAR has more experience of the undulations of this course and shades preference given he is a previous C&D winner off an 11lb higher mark. Too Much Too Young also tends to go well here and could be the surprise package.

KYBER CRYSTAL arrives in good nick and rates just the pick of the weights so is fancied to resume winning ways. C&D scorer Fortunate Star is next on the list, with another course winner Too Much Too Young also worthy of consideration in this open handicap.

Preference is for KYBER CRYSTAL, who benefited from wind surgery in the summer. Fortunate Star rates the main danger.
Class & Speed Card

GAMESTERS GUY had little difficulty when making all under a penalty at Carlisle last season. The dual bumper winner makes plenty of appeal now tackling hurdles for the first time and he ticks plenty of the right boxes. Penalised winners Navajo Indy and Not Now Nathaniel should put their experience in this discipline to good use, with the former expected to serve the most resistance to the selection after gaining a breakthrough victory at Wincanton in April.

GAMESTERS GUY was talented enough to win a couple of bumpers last season and in receipt of weight from the previous hurdles winners Navajo Indy and Not Now Nathaniel, he looks the way to go.

The penalty asks a question of him but NAVAJO INDY brings solid form claims and is preferred to Gamesters Guy.

Although JUVENTUS DE BRION didn't make it far when falling at the first hurdle in the Persian War over C&D earlier this month, he rates as the one to beat in these calmer waters. Dan Skelton's gelding boasts an official rating of 120 and a reproduction of his Ascot third in February may prove sufficient. Quebecois was flying too high on his 16th-placed defeat in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last season, but the five-year-old is feared most on his hurdles debut, ahead of Murphy's Milan

QUEBECOIS was possibly amiss when weakening quickly in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham when last seen and remains a good prospect for jumping judged on his impressive debut success at Exeter. He's narrowly preferred to Juventus de Brion, who has already shown fairly useful form over hurdles and is sure to be opening his account before long.

Quebecois impressed on his bumper debut at Exeter but JUVENTUS DE BRION sets a fairly useful standard of hurdling form.
Class & Speed Card

LENNOX had more in hand than the winning margin suggests when he emerged a cosy winner under a confident ride from this jockey at Southwell last month. Back on turf, this lightly-raced three-year-old appeals strongly. Local Arms takes a drop in class and is an attractive alternative to the selection on these terms. King's Scholar and Clansman command respect too.

LENNOX had a bit up his sleeve when scoring at Southwell and with this longer trip also a positive he looks the way to go. Clansman is weighted to have a big say and heads the list of dangers, with in-form duo King's Scholar and Local Arms also in the picture.

The stiffer test should suit King's Scholar but LENNOX, who delivered what he'd long promised on Tapeta last time, is given the nod.
Class & Speed Card

Donald McCain's runners always warrant close inspection given his fine strike-rate at this venue and another bold bid is forecast from COULD BE TROUBLE. The nine-year-old made all the running at Hexham earlier this month and a 4lb rise looks on the lenient side. Little Miss Dante was highly tried outside of handicap company last season and better is expected on her handicap bow. Mermaids Cave should appreciate this longer distance and isn't easily dismissed either.

A case can be made for all of these but James Owen continues among the winners and his MERMAIDS CAVE is taken to resume her progress after a break and bag a fourth victory for the yard. The handily-weighted Kay Tara Tara is feared most starting out for a new stable after breathing surgery, while Could Be Trouble, Little Miss Dante and Vicki Vale all need factoring in too.

A chance is taken on KAY TARA TARA rediscovering her peak form for Alan King, having had wind surgery before this stable debut.
Class & Speed Card

The hat-trick seeking Come On Nia warrants respect off just 4lb higher than her latest victory at Stratford and a 133-day break shouldn't prove a barrier to success. However, VENTARA was unlucky when bumping into a handicap blot in last year's edition of this contest and compensation may beckon off an unchanged mark. Loverdose justified strong support in the market when making a winning handicap bow at Exeter in March and likely has more to come this season as well.

LOVERDOSE landed a punt on handicap debut fitted with cheekpieces at Exeter in the spring and from this low base, it would come as no surprise were he to pick up where he left off. Pillar Rock surely has more to come given the yard he represents so he's second choice, ahead of Come On Nia.

Second to a big improver off this mark in this race on his handicap debut a year ago, VENTARA might be the answer.
Class & Speed Card

SIR GARFIELD defeated a subsequent winner at Ayr at the beginning of the month and a 2lb rise looks more than fair. The three-year-old will have different conditions to contend with here, but having won on soft ground over C&D in July, he ought to go very close. Homer Stokes arrives in search of a hat-trick after notching up a brace of C&D successes and with the aid of Joe Leavy's 3lb claim in the plate, he can go well. Veteran Desert Dream is another to consider.

It's been a while since BELTANE last got his head in front but he's fallen a long way down the weights as a consequence (now 16 lb below last winning mark) and has a fighting chance of reversing C&D placings with Homer Stokes on these revised terms, having finished 1¾ lengths behind that rival on his penultimate start. Homer Stokes is bidding for the hat-trick and, armed with a willing attitude, he can be expected to give it a good shot. Rwenearlytheredad and Sir Garfield are others to consider.

This looks a tight handicap, with HOMER STOKES fancied to complete a C&D hat-trick at the main expense of Sir Garfield.
Class & Speed Card

Those with no chasing experience are certain to learn plenty, but it might pay to side with ULTRA BEAT. The Henry Daly-trained gelding showed only moderate form over timber, but the switch to fences along with the step up to 3m can unlock improvement within the son of Milan. Exmoor Forest has had six starts over the larger obstacles, including a C&D win from 3lb lower. He can put that knowledge to good use though and it would come as no surprise were he to mount a stern challenge. Others to note include On The Platform and Chancycourt.

The suggestion is CHANCYCOURT, who makes his chase debut off what looks a very fair mark judged on last month's second in a maiden hurdle at Worcester where he followed home a nice prospect in Potters Charm (winner again at Cheltenham recently), in turn pulling clear of the rest. He was placed in a couple of points in 2021 and looks a chasing type. Breeze of Wind is feared most ahead of King of Brazil, while Brook Bay, East Street and Ultra Beat are others to consider.

Loads of these need considering but EAST STREET (nap) is on a dangerous mark if James Owen can get him back on track.
Class & Speed Card

Kim Bailey has started the new campaign in fine form and MAGICAL ESCAPE, a solid second on his chasing debut at Exeter earlier this month, may well continue that trend. King Turgeon was in the lead when being brought down over an extended 2m7f here in April and is of interest with Harry Cobden in the saddle here, while Leissieres Express, who will not lack for stamina having won over an extended 3m6f at this venue when last seen in March, is another to consider.

Lots with chances but Dan Skelton's lightly-raced MUMFORD'S MAGIC is taken to build on his promising Stratford debut chasing second and get off the mark. Kim Bailey's Exeter runner-up Magical Escape also has better days ahead of him and is feared most, although a solid case can be made for King Turgeon, Iberio and Betterforeveryone too in this cracking handicap chase.

Low-mileage 6yos MAGICAL ESCAPE and Mumford's Magic both ran well on their recent chasing debuts and may fight this out.
Class & Speed Card

Lightly raced over staying trips on the Flat, CAPTAIN POTTER proved far too strong for the reopposing Tarbat Ness (second) over this C&D recently and is fancied to confirm his superiority despite a 4lb rise in the handicap. The latter, although difficult to win with, has been a model of consistency and looks set to claim more minor honours. The bigger threat may come from Bonne Vitesse, who also defeated Tarbat Ness at Carlisle in May.

CAPTAIN POTTER and Bonne Vitesse are very closely matched having both beaten the re-opposing Tarbat Ness by similar margins and on similar terms last time out. Preference is for Brian Ellison's charge, who gained his verdict over Tarbat Ness in a C&D handicap earlier this month and will likely hold a fitness edge over Bonne Vitesse, who has been absent since the spring. Catrake Force failed to fire last time but is probably worth another chance and she is third choice.

This looks pretty weak and CAPTAIN POTTER (nap) may well be able to defy a 4lb rise. Old rival Tarbat Ness is next best.
Class & Speed Card

Lady Balko found rapid improvement over hurdles last season and although she appeared to be in the grip of the handicapper when last seen, a switch to fences could see the previous point winner resume her progress. Connections have wasted no time in sending Baltray, second over hurdles at Fontwell in May, over the larger obstacles for the first time. Emma Lavelle's gelding is sure to appreciate the switch and he is considered along with recent Sedgefield winner I'm Ravenous. It is IRON D'EX, a winner on his return/chasing debut at Ludlow, that shades preference, though, and he can defy a 3lb rise with improvement likely.

A whole host of potentially decent chasers, with I'M RAVENOUS taken to make a successful start for Ben Pauling. He's quickly switched to fences after scoring in a Sedgefield maiden hurdle at the start of the month and should have plenty more to offer. Icare Grandchamp, who opened his account in a Newton Abbot handicap chase when last seen, and One More Stroke are a couple of the other likely players.

A few of these appeal as likely improvers now sent chasing and recent maiden hurdle winner I'M RAVENOUS falls into that category.
Class & Speed Card

10-year-old DO YOUR JOB faced a few stiff assignments last season, most recently in a warm premier handicap at Cheltenham in April. However, the son of Fame And Glory landed a similar contest from 3lb higher at Wetherby on Boxing Day and, given he has gone well when fresh previously, might be worth chancing today. Opening Bid justified favouritism at Exeter and is certain to have a fitness edge on some of these. Others to note include Can You Call and Nocte Volatus.

Plenty to consider but it could be worth chancing expensive point-winner THEFORMISMIGHTY, whose yard won this last year with a chasing debutant. Can You Call pulled clear of the rest when second in this 12 months ago and can go well again, while Hititi is potentially well handicapped back in this sphere given his exploits over hurdles.

Top of this list is CAN YOU CALL, who ran a big race in defeat in this contest on last season's reappearance outing.
Class & Speed Card

COUNT D'ORSAY has been revitalised over the last 12 months and, having edged out Broken Spear to score by a head here 10 days ago, the gelding's commendable attitude could be the key to him upholding the form to grant his trainer back-to-back wins in this race. Hour By Hour has already enjoyed an excellent season and is another to seriously consider.

Last-time-out winners HOUR BY HOUR and Count d'Orsay are the obvious starting points. The latter is a talented sprinter on his day and was game when edging out Broken Spear over C&D recently but it's been something of an up-and-down campaign for the 8-y-o. Conversely, Hour By Hour has, save for a below-par display at Pontefract in July (too free that day), barely put a foot wrong this season and his latest success at Haydock was his best performance yet. Princess Alex makes each-way appeal.

Knicks has claims but HOUR BY HOUR has been in flying form on similar ground this autumn and is tipped to defy a further 6lb rise.
Class & Speed Card

LIBOR LAD ran with enthusiasm when second on his chasing debut at Stratford 22 days ago and, off just 2lb higher, he could go one better with that experience to draw upon. Dromlac Jury got off the mark on her most recent start over hurdles and can also figure if she transfers a similar level of ability now she starts out over to this sphere. Orbys River and Mutual Respect are others to monitor closely in the betting.

MUTUAL RESPECT needed some luck to win at Worcester last month but he still beat a subsequent winner that day and is racing off the same mark in a weaker race here. Libor Lad made a promising start over fences when second at Stratford so is next best ahead of chasing-newcomer Dromlac Jury, who was progressive over hurdles last season.

This may go to one of the chasing newcomers and COPERNIC DU MAZET could be dangerous with his 4yo allowance.
Class & Speed Card

Wot You Wearing appeared to idle when hitting the front before the last when runner-up over an extended 3m1f at Hereford recently and another prominent role is forecast. A return to today's elongated 2m3f trip shouldn't inconvenience the dual C&D winner, but a 3lb higher rating will demand a career-best performance. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a punt on the lightly-raced SIAM PARK, who may have benefited from wind surgery. Manowest and Solar System are others to consider.

The one who appeals most is WOT YOU WEARING, who is 2-2 over this C&D and he pulled well clear of the rest when going down narrowly to an in-form, race-fit rival on his recent seasonal reappearance at Hereford. Siam Park ended last season on a downer but he has low mileage and remains of interest. Solar System is also shortlisted, along with handicap-debutant Manowest.

There is more to come from SOLAR SYSTEM (nap), who won in good style at Fontwell two starts ago and had excuses last time.
Class & Speed Card

CROCODILE POWER has a lot going for him on the back of a string of consistent efforts and has a solid chance of adding a third C&D win to his portfolio based on his proven liking for this venue. Happier is another with an affinity for this track and can go well from a handy draw. Although a 13-race maiden, La Boo has shown flashes of ability and could provide some each-way value.

The vote goes to CROCODILE POWER, who landed back-to-back C&D handicaps prior to finishing a solid fourth at Chelmsford where he probably would've gone closer had things panned out a little better. On that evidence he remains on a feasible mark and gets the nod ahead of the Tim Easterby-trained pair, Canaria Queen and Happier. If Travel Candy takes her chance (due to run at Redcar on Monday) she will also be a threat.

White Umbrella is respected, but CROCODILE POWER can make is 3-3 over C&D having not had the breaks on the AW last time.
Class & Speed Card

Jim Goldie is on for one of his best ever seasons as a trainer and his placement here of AYR POET looks ideal as he bids to defy a 4lb rise to follow up his Musselburgh success 15 days ago. Having been placed on three of his six previous runs at this course, reverting to Tapeta shouldn't be an issue and another bold showing can be expected. Previous course winners Prince Achille and Urban Road can give the selection plenty of think about.

AYR POET landed a gamble at Musselburgh a fortnight ago and can follow up. Prince Achille can show more now back at Newcastle and is feared, as is Deauville, who wasn't subjected to a hard time returning from a long absence recently. Glasses Up also makes some appeal.

The vote goes to PRINCE ACHILLE who is 3-6 over C&D and is 2lb lower than when third in a better race here in May.
Class & Speed Card

DOUGLAS HYDE was a comfortable winner on his solitary start in a point-to-point and, having subsequently been snapped up for 85,000 pounds at the Aintree sales in April, there is a lot to like now the four-year-old starts out under Rules under the tutelage of Rebecca Curtis. Sign Again holds a similar profile and appeals given his dam is an unraced half-sister to the high-class Put The Kettle On among others. It's Top also boasts a notable NH pedigree and warrants a second look.

Some interesting recruits from the pointing field, with PADDYS POLICY selected before market clues to give the Donald McCain yard another bumper winner. Sign Again and It's Top are also appealing.

The six with experience have all shown ability. Narrow preference is for SIGN AGAIN ahead of North Of Richmond.
Class & Speed Card

The market is sure to prove informative with some interesting newcomers on show and a tentative vote goes to C'EST DIFFERENT. Sam Thomas' inmate shouldn't be found lacking for speed judged by his half-brother Avrilomanoir, who was a decent performer over sprint distances on the Flat in France. Fellow debutants The Final Word and A Pai De Nom are other intriguing players on paper, while point-to-point winners Sober Glory and Allstitchedup add further spice to a tricky finale.

Lots of depth to this bumper given the yards involved. A PAI DE NOM is related to a useful winner for the Skelton team and before market clues, is offered on debut. Sober Glory and The Final Word fetched plenty after point wins and are just a couple of potential dangers.

Paul Nicholls has won this race with some smart horses in recent years and his new recruit, THE FINAL WORD, appeals most today.
Class & Speed Card

Although purchased cheaply, there is enough to like about the pedigree of ALWAYS ETERNAL to put her forward as a notable contender for this maiden on debut. A half-sister to Bulldog Drummond, who won over this C&D as a juvenile, this could be a good starting point for the Twilight Son filly, whose yard has done well with juveniles this season. Mu Mu Land appeals most of those with experience, ahead of Run To My Side.

MU MU LAND made a promising start at Beverley 6 weeks ago and has a good shout in this line-up with improvement on the way. He's preferred to Run To My Side, an eye-catcher first time up at Leicester, and newcomer Always Eternal.

Preference is for MU MU LAND who shaped as though this extra furlong would suit when a promising second at Beverley last month.
Class & Speed Card

Last-time-out winners Jachin, Al Waseela and MINI MAC boast compelling claims. The former scored cosily over this trip in a Catterick maiden 10 days ago and is respected. However, the latter showed a very game attitude when getting off the mark under a calm ride from Billy Loughnane at Brighton and could have plenty more to give with cheekpieces added. Al Waseela is more exposed but cannot be ruled out.

MINI MAC opened his account at the second attempt at Brighton recently and can improve again now handicapping up in trip. He gets the vote over Yarmouth winner Al Waseela, Sherlock and Jachin in a competitive nursery.

The choice is AL WASEELA who seems to be progressing steadily and won in good style at Yarmouth a fortnight ago.
Class & Speed Card

JEZ BOMB, now two from three on the all-weather following his recent Wolverhampton success, might be one to follow over the winter months and he's fancied to defy a further 3lb rise in the weights. Little Ted struck the woodwork over C&D earlier this month and must enter calculations, along with Barleybrown, who shoulders a penalty having cruised to victory over track and trip last Tuesday.

The trio that stand out here are MIDNIGHT'S DREAM, Barleybrown and Jez Bomb, in that order of preference. The first-named produced his best effort yet when a strong-finishing fifth in a steadily-run race at Kempton recently and, granted a decent pace to aim at here, this unexposed colt could be the answer. Barleybrown is feared most on the back of notching C&D win number four in good style last week.

This can go to BARLEYBROWN who is taken to record his fifth win over C&D this year. Billy Loughnane is 2-2 aboard him.
Class & Speed Card

King's School lost out to an unexposed rival on his latest outing and a first career success doesn't look far away. BARNABY has improved tenfold since being switched to the all-weather, though, winning two on the bounce over C&D, and a 6lb penalty might not prevent him from completing the hat-trick. Beale Street is noted, as is Front Gunner, who steps up in class.

This looks a strong race for the grade, with MERESIDE MADNESS taken to record his third C&D win from 4 outings here having shaped well in a race that wasn't run to suit. Barnaby was a decisive scorer last week and he chases a quick-fire Newcastle hat-trick so he must be a danger, along with Beale Street.

A chance is taken with ARANTES NASCIMENTO who suggested a return to form here last time, shaping as though the return to 7f might suit.
Class & Speed Card

MY CLOUD, a beaten odds-on favourite on each of his starts to date, will not get a better opportunity than this and the son of Blue Point can go in at the third time of asking. That said, George Boughey is no stranger to success with his debutants and Kingman gelding Tancredi makes more than enough appeal on paper to suggest he can be involved. Beautiful Girl can chase the pair home.

MY CLOUD has shown plenty to work on when runner-up on both of his starts 8 months apart and will struggle to find a better opportunity than this. Well-bred newcomer Tancredi looks the only realistic threat.

Newcomer Tancredi has the pedigree and it will be interesting to see how he goes in the betting but MY CLOUD ought to be too good.
Class & Speed Card

Kitaab found himself with too much to do when a never-nearer third at Kempton last time out. Philip Kirby's gelding warrants respect in his current mood, but a 6lb higher rating could see him falling short of victory once again. With that in mind, last month's C&D third GOLDEN DUKE makes slightly more appeal. The son of Galileo Gold races off an unchanged mark and an overdue triumph may beckon. Buzz Box and Indivar are others to consider.

The in-form KITAAB should have followed up his C&D win at Kempton 18 days ago (left with too much to do) and is fancied to make amends. Low-mileage 3-y-o Buzz Box shaped encouragingly after 8 months off when fourth at Southwell and may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Golden Duke.

The vote goes to KITAAB (nap) who won well over C&D at the start of the month and who did well to go so close at Kempton a week later.
Class & Speed Card

TICKETS justified strong support in the market when making all over 7f here last week. A 5lb penalty and return to 6f shouldn't inconvenience Ben Haslam's inmate and a quick-fire double could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from My Boy Jack, who has filled the runner-up berth on his last three outings. Shark Two One and Ana Emaraaty have the form to figure too.

MY BOY JACK is going through a good spell, just held only by a course specialist here last week, and gets the nod off the same mark. Ana Emaraaty was a good ¾-length second to Tickets over 7f here last week and may emerge as the biggest threat being 5 lb better off with the penalised Tickets this time.

This is very open but TICKETS has found form back on the AW for his new yard and can prove he is still well treated despite the penalty.
Class & Speed Card

The introduction of a first-time hood with cheekpieces proved just the tonic for recent track-and-trip scorer QUERCUS. The son of Nayef scored a shade cosily and he looks capable of following up off a 4lb higher mark. Fellow in-form rival Gunnerside returns to the all-weather after some creditable efforts in defeat on the turf of late. Grant Tuer's seven-year-old may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Noble Captain.

QUERCUS pulled clear with the runner-up when making all over C&D 2 weeks ago so is taken to defy a 4 lb rise. Gunnerside is edging back down the weights and is next best ahead of Noble Captain, who is working his way back.

Although QUERCUS won only narrowly over C&D last time he did look comfortable on the surface and fitting a hood seems to have helped.
Ths is the racecard key.
