LTO Selection:

13:25 Hexham Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Jeepydoff Meel failed to fire when an odds-on favourite at Stratford last time but is a player based on his previous form. That said, marginal preference is still for WHISTLE STOP TOUR, who was a 115,000-pound purchase in April after winning an Irish point-to-point the previous month. Hawkseye View and Stylish Recruit have also tasted success between the flags and merit consideration first time under Rules.

Lucinda Russell has her string in excellent nick so her WHISTLE STOP TOUR, a £115,000 purchase after landing an Iirsh point in March, is fancied to make a winning debut in this sphere. Jeepydoff Meel holds much the best form of those with experience and rates a big threat if shrugging off a below-par Stratford fourth last time. Kilta and Hawkseye View appeal as the pick of the rest for place purposes.

5yo WHISTLE STOP TOUR was bought for £115,000 after his Irish point win in March and is an interesting contender on his rules debut.

(1) Mr Mafia 28/1, Veteran campaigner who capitalised on some mercy from the assessor when making a winning return from 8 months off at Newton Abbot (25.8f, good) in July, closed down only late on. Failed badly to back that up when pulled up at that venue a month ago.
LTO Selection:

13:45 Fontwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The returning BLAME THE GAME recorded a solid fourth in a 20-runner affair at Cheltenham in April and looks more than capable of landing a race of this nature. Better is expected of Captain Tommy now reverting to chasing and the nine-year-old may emerge as the chief threat with his fitness assured. Hipop Des Ongrais ended his campaign by filling the frame at Ludlow and is another to consider.

BLAME THE GAME signed off a productive 2022/23 campaign with an excellent effort in a big-field handicap at Cheltenham and given the yard he represents, fitness is no concern. He's a very appealing candidate, with Captain Tommy feared most back over the larger obstacles.

This longer trip should suit HIPOP DES ONGRAIS and he edges preference over the solid Blame The Game.

LTO Selection:

13:50 Downpatrick Maiden Hurdle 18f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

CHARMING FORTUNE ran well for a long way before dropping to third on racecourse debut in a bumper at Navan. He is entitled to come on from that run as he was last seen in a point-to-point almost 10 months before that. Gavin Cromwell is firing in plenty of winners and this horse will know his job on his first go over hurdles. Yeats Star sets a fair standard as he has been placed in his last couple of maiden hurdles in September. He came in third over C&D and got close to the breakthrough when just beaten by a neck in Roscommon. Musta Lovea Lovea holds a rating of 111 and gets first-time blinkers. He could relish this company. Figurehead was a place behind Yeats Star in fourth at this venue.

MUSTA LOVEA LOVEA should strip fitter with his reappearance under his belt and this looks a good opening for him on last season's form. Charming Fortune showed enough in a bumper to make him of interest now tackling obstacles, with Yeats Star another to consider.

Gavin Cromwell's CHARMING FORTUNE did well to make the frame in a Navan bumper having raced keenly and he goes in a hood this time.

Out of form on the Flat this season and switches back to hurdling with good bit to prove.
LTO Selection:

14:00 Hexham Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SINNDARELLA returned to winning ways over 2m6f at Cartmel in August and the Sarah Hollinshead-trained seven-year-old could be hard to stop off just a 4lb higher mark here. Moonlight Glory and Noble Affair are the dangers and the former is feared most on the basis that she is a C&D winner and will appreciate a bit more cut underfoot following a mediocre effort here last time.

Those at the top of the weights make most appeal. SINNDARELL gained a deserved first handicap success at Cartmel last time and is selected from a 4 lb higher mark, whilst Moonlight Glory has a good record here and can't be discounted after a summer break.

14:12 Ascot Handicap (Class 3) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

William Stone and Ross Birkett teamed up to win this 12 months ago with the returning Final Watch, who merits respect off just 1lb above that winning mark, but a chance is taken on CONQUISTADOR. The gelded son of U S Navy Flag hasn't been in the same form since running a cracker to finish third in the Palace of Holyroodhouse at the Royal meeting, but returning to this track, combined with a step up in trip, could unlock further improvement. Kimnkate is also noted.

MOBASHR has a style that lends itself well to this track and, having confirmed himself still in top form in a stronger race than this over C&D last month, he's put forward as the answer. Kimnkate and Alazwar are a couple of others that look sure to go well.

The 3yo filly Kimnkate can be bang there once more but preference is for MOBASHR, who is also having a productive campaign.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Iolaos Du Mou has proved expensive to follow, although Nicky Henderson's charge must merit respect in this open contest. A similar level of performance to his runner-up effort at Huntingdon in May shouldn't see him far away, but it may pay to take a chance on hurdling debutant KING WILLIAM RUFUS. The six-year-old achieved some fair form in bumpers last season and has the scope to excel in this discipline. Duhallow Tommy, Idy Wood and Corporal Jackjones are noted too.

KING WILLIAM RUFUS shaped with plenty of promise in a trio of bumpers last season and appeals as the type to take well to hurdling, so he's put forward as the answer. Idy Wood enjoyed the run of the race when winning his sole outing in bumpers in February, but was quite an expensive 4-y-o who should have a future jumping, while Iolaos du Mou and Duhallow Tommy are others to consider in an interesting early-season novice.

This has the look of a decent race. KING WILLIAM RUFUS gets the nod on the strength of his bumper runs.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

FATHOM TWO could be the sort to progress after winning over C&D last month. He showed a good attitude to pick up the leader inside the final furlong before going on by a length and three-quarters. He likes this northern venue as he was just pipped by a nose in a bumper here. New Year Honours was never a factor in a valuable handicap hurdle at Listowel, but should make her presence felt in first-time cheekpieces. Rockview Consort is in a consistent vein of form and landed a maiden hurdle at Tramore in August. Her form is on better ground, but she did finish fourth in a Flat maiden on slow ground at the Curragh approximately a year ago. Timourid was a comfortable winner of a maiden hurdle at Roscommon in July and is nicely in at the weights given his rating and his jockey's claim, however, there are ground concerns for him.

FATHOM TWO improved to open his account in a novice over C&D 3 weeks ago and, with further progress on the cards, he's narrowly preferred to Rockview Consort, who remains with potential as a hurdler. Timourid is also considered.

14:35 Hexham Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MONOCHROMIX displayed plenty of promise in novice/maiden hurdles last season, including when a close second at Carlisle on his most recent outing in March, and it would be no surprise to see him make a winning handicap debut. Ashington put in an improved effort at Kelso last month, but the drop back in trip is a slight concern. Well Educated and Dare To Shout complete the shortlist.

MONOCHROMIX showed improved form on his third start over hurdles when runner-up at Carlisle in March, sticking to his task well, and the 5-y-o can continue his progress as he goes handicapping on his return. He is taken to get the better of Ashington, who can go well back down in trip, while Dare To Shout is another to consider.

This looks tricky but Lucinda Russell's unexposed handicap newcomer MONOCHROMIX gets the vote ahead of Hajey.

14:47 Ascot Stakes (Class 3) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

SCENIC has been performing with credit during the season in Listed company, most notably finishing third at York in July, and Ed Walker's filly, who was touched off in a novice event at Salisbury last time, is more than capable of finally shedding the maiden tag. Juana Ines makes her UK debut having won her second career start at Clairefontaine in July. She enters calculations, while Kempton winner Camarrate and Hampden Park are others who are capable of being in the mix.

Andrew Balding's Sea The Moon colt HAMPDEN PARK shaped well after an absence when third at Kempton and is fancied to get off the mark at the chief expense of Scenic who holds the best form but has to shrug off a below-par Salisbury second last time out. Camarrate and Juana Ines both have better days ahead of them and merit plenty of respect too.

Although she's the most experienced of these, SCENIC is not your typical eight-race maiden and should be up to winning this.

14:55 Fontwell Handicap Chase (Class 2) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Representing the in-form Dan Skelton yard, SACRE COEUR could be worth chancing on her return to chasing. The daughter of Montmartre has posted two solid efforts in defeat for current connections over hurdles and may get her head in front now over the larger obstacles. Unanswered Prayers hasn't proved the most reliable, but he's dangerous to dismiss on the back of a break, while Copperhead lurks on an attractive mark.

It could be worth chancing UP THE STRAIGHT, who took a step back in the right direction when third at Kempton in May and he ran well on his return in this last year off a higher mark. Sacre Coeur is potentially well treated back in this sphere so rates the main threat on only her third start for Dan Skelton.

Richard Rowe's UP THE STRAIGHT (nap) perhaps should have won this last year and he returns off a similar absence.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Mark McNiff's FASSBENDER loves racing in Downpatrick and won this race a couple of years ago. Philip Byrnes' 5lb claim could see him post his third victory at this track. He has been placed on his last two outings here and Byrnes looks good value for his claim in riding for the most part for his father Charles Byrnes. In For The Night stepped up on previous efforts when a close second in Navan. He stayed on well up the stiff hill which bodes well for this longer trip. Always Force It was a never nearer fifth in the same Navan race and is likely to improve upon that finish. Philip Rothwell is having an excellent season and his Cullenwaine should be in the mix for prize money while Skip Mahler performed creditably in third at Sligo in August, but would prefer 'good' in the going description.

FASSBENDER confirmed his return to form when third over C&D 3 weeks ago and looks ready to strike. In For The Night left previous efforts well behind when going close at Navan 3 weeks ago so is another to consider along with Always Force It, who caught the eye on his handicap bow in the same race.

Now that the penny has dropped for SEPTEMBER DAISY after a determined success over C&D in May, there could be plenty more to come from Nick Alexander's mare as she returns from a summer break. Hat-trick seeker The Longest Day is a key player, along with Atomic Angel, who scored over further at Sedgefield last time out. Completing the shortlist are Blended Stealth, Colonel Manderson and Event Of Sivola.

Successful over fences here last year, EVENT OF SIVOLA can leave a rare below-par effort behind and take advantage of his lower hurdles mark with cheekpieces reapplied on his return. The Longest Day arrives bidding for a hat-trick and is feared most, with Colonel Manderson completing the shortlist.

He didn't fire last time but BLENDED STEALTH was placed on his stable debut and looks well worth another crack at this sort of trip.

15:22 Ascot Stakes (Class 3) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

HICKORY arrives here on the back of two placed efforts in valuable handicaps over 7f at this venue in recent months, and he could return to winning ways with his sights now lowered. Daysofourlives and Florida are progressive three-year-olds who could give the selection plenty to think about, although the latter is the slight pick of the pair following his win at York. Jeff Koons edges out Sweet Reward to be best of the rest.

A tightly-knit affair due to the conditions of the race but unexposed 3-y-os JEFF KOONS and Florida represent excellent yards and they could easily have more to offer. Marginal preference is for the former dropped in trip, with rock-solid handicapper Hickory completing the shortlist.

The most appealing contenders are among the 3yos, headed by FLORIDA who should improve further. Daysofourlives is feared most.

15:30 Fontwell Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LOGISTICAL was a creditable second at Plumpton last time and would not need to improve much further to open his account over timber. The fitting of a first-time visor might help to eke out more. Cosmic View has some fair Flat form to his name and must be of interest on his hurdling bow. Vale Dolobo Dancer completes the shortlist.

The market should prove a useful guide in relation to the hurdles debutants but COSMIC VIEW (a fair maiden on the Flat) starts out for a yard that do particularly well in this sphere and he shades the vote without the benefit of market clues. Logistical has an experience edge over most and he, along with David Pipe's Makanao head up the dangers.

If LOGISTICAL can repeat his Plumpton form with a visor now applied then he should be difficult to beat in a weak hurdle.

15:35 Downpatrick Maiden Hurdle 22f Race Speed Rating Flow

Former point-to-point winner KANSAS CITY STAR should relish a step up in trip on his return to action. He finished runner-up in a pair of maiden hurdles over an extended 2m4f at Tipperary and Perth in April and May respectively, and will enjoy this ground. Kalanisi Flash has two point-to-point victories in his locker and is another up in trip on the racecourse. He would prefer better ground in all likelihood, but has his chance. Perhaps this trip will see Nt Field Minnesota in a better light as she disappointed when a beaten favourite in fifth over an extended 2m1f at this track last month. She is another point-to-point winner. Rowdy Romeo is returning from an absence, but isn't out of it for local trainer Caroline McCaldin.

KANSAS CITY STAR goes well fresh and is worth another chance to open his account in this sphere for a yard that has won this maiden plenty of times. Nt Field Minnesota is feared most ahead of Rowdy Romeo.

This looks like a good opportunity for FENNA'S LOSS to get off the mark on his chasing debut, having finished first or second in two of his last three starts over further here. A talented sort over hurdles last season, with a brace of victories at Musselburgh on his CV, General Officer can give him the most to think about, while Chapel Green is another to consider for the in-form Lucinda Russell team.

GENERAL OFFICER showed fairly useful form over hurdles last season and, as a winning pointer, he appeals as the type to do better over fences, so he gets the nod over fellow chasing debutants Chapel Green and Fenna's Loss in what looks an interesting contest on paper.

The one with potential to develop into a useful chaser is Irish point winner GENERAL OFFICER (nap), who was 2-5 over hurdles last term.

15:57 Ascot Listed (Class 1) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Chesspiece was a place and a couple of lengths ahead of MIDDLE EARTH when sixth in the St Leger, but the Gosdens' Melrose winner was supplemented for the Classic so must be held in very high regard, and he can improve past his rival on 3lb better terms. Naqeeb is starting to put it all together and deserves a try at Listed company. Lmay, a stablemate of the selection, was behind Climate Friendly at York, but then impressed with the way she travelled into contention in the Park Hill.

A hot listed event. LMAY's much-improved performance in the Park Hill is backed up by the timefigure so she shades the vote over Chesspiece and Middle Earth, who are back down in class having found the St Leger too much.

The William Haggas-trained NAQEEB (nap) is a half-brother to Group 1 winners Baaeed and Hukum and he can continue his progressive ways.

CARIBBEAN SUNSET's latest effort at Thirsk was too bad to be true as the five-year-old's run of form prior to that display had been consistent. Kats Bob returns to a more realistic level following his run in the Bronze Cup at Ayr and is respected along with Moralisa.

SAISONS D'OR is worth a go at this trip off what is a tempting mark back down in class. South Dakota Sioux shaped better than the bare result over C&D 10 days ago and is next best ahead of Moralisa, who will be suited by the return to 6f.

Clearance has proven to be a consistent performer and can once again showcase that ability, along with Small Bad Bob, who arrives having been narrowly denied over 2m3f here in May. However, the vote goes to BROOKIE. He has yet to add to his Limerick maiden success but, having finished a good fourth in a warm handicap at the Punchestown Festival in April, a similar performance might suffice on his first outing for the Anthony Honeyball team.

None of these can be ruled out but the vote goes to SMALL BAD BOB who starts life with the excellent Chris Gordon on a handy-looking mark and can take full advantage. Clearance is a reliable sort and fancied to get back on track after a blip at Stratford, with Brookie and Tapley also in the mix.

16:10 Downpatrick Handicap Hurdle 22f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MR SOCIAL could get another turn. He made the breakthrough at Tramore in August and has been placed in subsequent races in Killarney and Listowel. That form reads well in the context of this weak race. Signora Di Milano came home second and fourth over shorter trips on her last two visits to Downpatrick. Perhaps three miles was too far for her when unplaced in Listowel, so this distance could be more to her liking. Across The Ocean kept on for a moderate fourth over an extended 2m1f here last month and could get closer over this staying trip.

MORRICONE finished well held from his much higher British mark at Bangor on Wednesday yet he'd marked himself down as one to keep firmly on side when successful over shorter here previously and he's well worth siding with to resume progress now. Mr Social rates the chief threat, with Resilient Front and Signora di Milano a couple of handicap debutantes to note in the betting for clues.

16:20 Hexham Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having occupied the runner-up berth on her first three chase starts, it was a case of fourth-time lucky for JANESLITTLEVOICE as she recorded a narrow success at Newton Abbot a fortnight ago. Ella Pickard's mare is just 1lb higher and with further improvement likely, she can repeat the dose. Lights Are Green is a C&D winner and must be considered, along with Eveque, who is competitively treated ahead of his return to action.

This looks trappy and the vote goes to EVEQUE, in the hope that he is fit enough to do himself justice on his first appearance since April. Jane Walton's charge was a creditable fourth in a more competitive C&D handicap when last seen and a reproduction of that would probably suffice. Tommydan has yet to trouble the judge over fences but is on a dangerous mark and could be the main threat, while Lights Are Green will have a fighting chance if returning to the form he showed earlier this year.

The mare JANESLITTLEVOICE was not winning out of turn when getting off the mark at Newton Abbot recently and she can follow up.

SEA STONE wasn't beaten far in his attempt to land the hat-trick at Southwell last month, and returning to the turf could see him in a better light as he looks to get back to winning ways. Conditions are in his favour and the four-year-old may have too much for Brave Knight and El Jasor, who could improve for going up in trip. An easy winner at Thirsk on her penultimate outing, Art De Vivre is fancied to be thereabouts as well.

SEA STONE arrives firmly on the up and still looked ahead of his mark when third at Southwell last time, so he gets the nod over Art de Vivre, who is expected to get back on the up. El Jasor is also considered.

Nicely bred ART DE VIVRE is taken to resume her progress back on turf. Brave Knight, a similar type, is second choice.

ARTISAN DANCER hasn't looked back since returning to the all-weather and made it a hat-trick of wins at Lingfield on his first attempt over 2m. The drop back in trip is unlikely to be an issue for Charlie Johnston's gelding in his attempt to continue this fine run of form, and he gets the vote ahead of We Still Believe, who carries a 5lb penalty for his latest victory here, and Kittykarma.

ARTISAN DANCER has been thriving of late, completing the hat-trick with the minimum of fuss at Lingfield last time, and he can add to his tally in his current form. Kittykarma could still have more to offer at this trip and is feared most, ahead of 3-time course winner We Still Believe.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GAMBIE TIEP made amends for unseating his rider four out at Plumpton last month when making all with a bit in hand over 2m1f at Bangor on Wednesday and a repeat performance can see him defy a 7lb penalty to complete a quick-fire double today.Impression Chic sports a tongue-tie for the first time on her chasing bow and is expected to improve in this sphere following a trio of runs in novice/maiden hurdles at Worcester. A wind operation may benefit En Coeur, who is only 1lb higher than his Plumpton success in January, and he warrants respect.

GAMBIE TIEP proved that he can cope with races in quick succession when scoring twice over hurdles within the space of five days in July, and the 7-y-o will prove hard to beat if allowed to take his chance here on the back of a decisive display at Bangor on Wednesday. Impression Chic is an interesting option for forecast purposes, given that she may well step up on her hurdling exploits now switched to fences. Princess Midnight and Gone In Sixty should both have parts to play, too.

16:45 Downpatrick Beginners Chase 19f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SILVER KING is of interest on chasing debut. He has shown ability when placed in two bumpers and a pair of maiden hurdles. Trip and ground should be fine for him. Noel Kelly has certainly been among the winners recently and there is a race over fences in his Gladiatorial who has won twice over hurdles. Walk In The Park mare Jenny Flex has come home runner-up in a couple of beginners' chases at this venue and in Sligo. That experience will stand to her and she has stronger claims than most. Howaya C D And E won her bumper in Downpatrick and gets blinkers on her third crack at fences.

SILVER KING has shown form verging on fairly useful over hurdles, so he makes a fair amount of appeal now going chasing in an ordinary-looking affair. Gladiatorial and Jenny Flex head up the opposition.

IMAC WOOD still appeals as potentially well-treated on his French form with a recent wind-op seemingly having helped him regain his spark, so can strike if coping with the quick turnaround. Return Fire largely held his form well last season and is respected, despite the trip perhaps being on the short side for him, with Follow Your Arrow just about preferred for third.

LTO Selection:

17:00 Dundalk Handicap 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ERUPTION was unsuited by soft at Naas, but has previous form at this level and now looks ahead of the handicapper. Her five all-weather runs are poor, but were contested over unsuitable distances and she now drops to five furlongs running from a career-low rating and under a 7lb claimer. Havana Notion is also suited by five furlongs and has all-weather form. He ran OK here recently, drops in distance, and is ridden by a 7lb claimer. Californiagoldrush ran well enough in a recent claimer and while raised 5lb, is proven on this surface, although she drops back in distance. Inishmot Prince is a five-time course winner who has been out of form, but his rating has fallen. The admirable Geological is in form, but will be unsuited by this distance. Eglish has also been running reasonably well, but would prefer slightly further. Red Cymbal's recent form is also over longer trips and he hasn't won since January 2020.

Competitive stuff but INISHMOT PRINCE drops in class in re-fitted headgear so he could be the answer. James McAuley-trained pair Eglish and Red Cymbal head the opposition.

HAVANA NOTION shaped like a return to form may be imminent here last week and a return to the minimum could be in his favour

17:05 Ascot Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

DARK THIRTY had a few of these behind when third over this trip at Newmarket's July Festival and has held his form well over 7f since, tasting success at the same venue. The son of Starspangledbanner could relish the return to this distance and is just preferred to C&D winner Lethal Nymph, who was runner-up at Doncaster over an extended 6f last month and is now only 1lb higher. King's Lynn and Mitrosonfire are just a couple more to consider.

A belated first success of the season could be on the cards for ROHAAN, who failed to justify support when finishing seventh in the Ayr Gold Cup but that effort can be upgraded a touch and this four-time C&D winner has slipped to a very attractive mark. Redemption Time put in a good shift when second to a rival at the top of his game here last month and he is feared most ahead of stablemate Lethal Nymph. Cases can also be made for King's Lynn and Yaaser.

Clive Cox has two strong candidates in a competitive sprint, LETHAL NYMPH getting the vote just ahead of Redemption Time.

17:10 Newcastle Maiden (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MANOS ARRIBA appreciated a step up in trip when progressing from his debut to finish second at Yarmouth, and Ed Dunlop's gelding makes plenty of appeal in his bid to go one better. Sir Gabrial is capable of being in the mix based on his first start when fourth at Ffos Las, while Flying Fletcher could have a say if repeating his Doncaster third rather than his latest performance at Ripon.

SIR GABRIAL did quite well to finish fourth starting out at Ffos Las 3 weeks ago given how green he was and with improvement forthcoming, he could be the answer. With Flying Fletcher very disappointing last time, Manos Arriba could be the chief threat, while any support for a newcomer should be noted, too.

17:15 Fontwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BEAT THE HEAT was in fine fettle when last seen over hurdles at this track in November 2022, when making it three course victories for the year, and the six-year-old arrives following a recent success on the level at Bath. It would be no surprise to see him pick up where he left off over timber. A wind operation and a tongue-tie may benefit Belgarum, who performed with promise on both attempts in handicap company in the spring. Sir Rock, a winner here in May, and Sassified appeal most of the remainder.

BEAT THE HEAT has an excellent record at this track and is fresh from an improved effort on the Flat, so he's fancied to add to a good hurdling strike rate. Sami Bear and Sassified both remain with potential and are feared.

One who might go well is BELGARUM, who has had wind surgery since making a solid start to his life handicaps back in the spring.

17:20 Downpatrick Handicap Chase 24f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SHANTOU SISU was left in the lead to win by a wide margin at Sligo and has prospects of going in again. He has extensive experience over fences and jockey Danny Mullins has the option of racing him prominently to make this a jumping test. The pair won over fences at this track in August last year. Cathys Quest really found her stride when slamming her rivals by 15 lengths in a handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan last month. If she is in the same mood on her chasing debut, she would hold every chance in this basement-grade handicap. Movie King kept on for third over flights on yielding ground in Navan last month. He is on a handy mark over fences, but wouldn't want the ground to be testing.

CATHYS QUEST improved a chunk when running away with a big-field handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan last month and, if able to perform to a similar level now switched to fences, a 12 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop her. Steps Match will have a serious chance if he puts his best foot forward, while Movie King's best days are surely ahead of him and Shantou Sisu, who struck at Sligo recently, is also shortlisted.

LTO Selection:

17:30 Dundalk Stakes 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

THE HIGHWAY RAT is a track-and-trip specialist and can turn around mid-September Curragh form with Big Gossey. A Group 3 winner over C&D in 2021, he is holding his form and ran well at the Curragh twice recently. The five-year-old is very closely matched with Harry's Bar on their most recent meetings in September and October 2022, but the eight-year-old Harry's Bar may have lost a little pace in the intervening period and was well held recently. Big Gossey is another C&D winner and while now in rude health, is a fraction better over six furlongs on turf. Lady Tilbury likes this distance and is ground-versatile on turf, but has yet to prove herself on this surface. Hispanic won here in August, but finished last of seven in a Longchamp Group 3 recently. Arnhem needs to improve.

THE HIGHWAY RAT finished a few places behind Big Gossey in a big-field handicap at the Curragh last month, but he didn't help himself with a tardy start that day and, with his all-weather record very difficult to crab, he's fancied to gain revenge on his old rival and land this race for a second year running. Hispanic has a bit to find but he impressed on his first try on an artificial surface here in August and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Though last year's winner THE HIGHWAY RAT was behind Big Gossey on turf in the Bold Lad handicap last month, he can reverse the form

LTO Selection:

17:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Representing the in-form Simon and Ed Crisford yard, TAJAWAL bounced back to form with a close-up third over C&D in July. A subsequent gelding operation may have unlocked some potential in the three-year-old and he is fancied to gain a second success of the season off only 1lb higher here. Colourful Dream was quite taking in her breakthrough success in a novice event at Southwell in March 2022 and is feared most on handicap/stable debut, despite a long absence. The progressive Panning For Gold also warrants respect.

PANNING FOR GOLD is enjoying an excellent season and fancied to bag a fifth win with the form of his latest Southwell success proving very strong. C&D winner Cusack is feared most despite being 2 lb out of the handicap, with in-form duo Theme Park and Tajawal in the mix too.

LTO Selection:

18:00 Dundalk Listed 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Royal Ascot winner VALIANT FORCE can defy top weight. Winner of the Norfolk Stakes, he was subsequently beaten a long way in the Prix Morny but that form is very strong, with the winner following up with another top-level triumph, while the high-class third and fourth were each placed at Group 1 level next time. He debuts on the all-weather, but likes fast ground so should be fine. Pipsy won really well on easy ground at the Curragh and while she drops in distance and debuts on the all-weather, she remains unexposed and should also progress. Alabama was beaten a neck by Son Of Corballis (well beaten recently) in July, but is now 3lb better off and won over C&D last month, beating Emerald Banner. Chandigah finished third in a Group 3 in August, but drops to this distance for the first time and debuts on the all-weather. Rush Queen has place claims.

PIPSY looked a useful prospect when going in at the Curragh last time and is fancied to take this step up in class in her stride. Curragh runner-up Chandigah rates the chief threat to Ger Lyons's exciting filly ahead of Majestic Beauty and Valiant Force.

Though VALIANT FORCE (nap) carries a 7lb penalty for his Group 2 Norfolk Stakes success, he should be suited by AW and defy that

LTO Selection:

18:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Eleven Eleven is likely to prove popular after recently filling the runner-up spot over track and trip and the five-year-old must merit respect operating off the same mark. Nevertheless, JEWEL OF KABEIR makes slightly more appeal having finished third from an uncompromising position over C&D on Monday. Copper Mountain has been running into form of late and a further 1lb drop in the ratings also brings the daughter of Sir Percy into the equation.

ELEVEN ELEVEN was strong in the market and wasn't beaten too far when runner-up from this mark over C&D last week, so Jessica Macey's gelding is fancied to go one better. Spirit of Bowland landed a hat-trick in the spring and should be much closer to form after his recent return, so also makes appeal, with the consistent Jewel of Kabeir taken to round out the placings.

LTO Selection:

18:30 Dundalk Handicap 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

THE BEAR TRAP debuts for new connections, seems dependable, and is suited by this distance. He ran well in a similar Down Royal nursery last month (Poppadom fifth) and was subsequently claimed having again run well at Fairyhouse (Tartaraghan fifth). Guest Star, another ex-Jessica Harrington-trained runner, finished second in a Navan claimer in August and was then well held at Naas before changing hands. Tai Tam Bay has good recent form on easy ground, but encounters a different surface and steps up in distance. Masonbrook Meadow showed promise on debut and now runs in first-time cheekpieces, while King Of Gosford wasn't beaten too far in a better nursery recently.

TAI TAM BAY upped her game when third on nursery debut at Cork 10 days ago and another improved showing could be enough for her to open her account. The Bear Trap and King of Gosford look the chief dangers.

TAI TAM BAY has been running well on turf over 6f and there's every chance a step up in trip on AW could suit given her pedigree

LTO Selection:

18:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Urban Road recently gained a second C&D triumph in good fashion and is likely to be in the mix once more. However, a 5lb penalty puts the Alan Brown-trained gelding on a career-high mark and it could be worth taking him on. SHAHNAZ ticks plenty of boxes on her stable debut for Daragh Bourke, who is enjoying a fine season, with this contest looking a good starting point. Time To Rumble is relatively unexposed on the all-weather and is another to note.

MY ROXANNE was below form here on her most recent outing, but she'd been steadily progressive prior to that and is worth another chance to get back on the up after a break. Urban Road notched win number 4 of the season over C&D 10 days ago and has to be respected under a penalty, with Time To Rumble another to consider having returned to form at Ayr a fortnight ago.

LTO Selection:

19:00 Dundalk Listed 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

KAIRYU returns from a mini-break and steps up slightly in trip under a Group 2 penalty, but debuts for new owners and is an Irish 1,000 Guineas entrant. Her Curragh Group 3 success was admirable, with the runner-up being Group 1-placed recently, and she could be suited by this surface. Mountain Bear has solid stakes form and while well held at Doncaster, that was on soft and he should be better suited by this surface. Rising Sign won impressively when well supported on her Punchestown debut and while this race is much stronger, she is by Frankel and open to vast improvement. Mysteries is consistent and dependable but might bump into a few too strong, while Ragga Bomb steps up from a maiden win and looks the stable second string. Battle Cry may have been unsuited by soft at Doncaster, having previously won a maiden on good to firm, and has place claims.

RISING SIGN looked potentially out of the top drawer when making a winning debut at Punchestown and can take this step up in class in her stride. Kairyu backed up her impressive debut win when following up in a Group 3 at the Curragh so rates the main threat despite her 5 lb penalty. Mountain Bear is another to consider back down in class.

MOUNTAIN BEAR should relish this drop in class after running respectably in the Champagne Stakes last time and this surface may suit

LTO Selection:

19:15 Newcastle Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Carbis Bay sets the standard in this contest with a rating of 78 and he is expected to be in the mix, but the vote goes to newcomer DAYDREAM EXPRESS. The daughter of Kingman was a 300,000gns purchase and is related to some high-profile winners, so it would be no surprise to see her make a winning debut for her powerful connections. Any market confidence behind Beyond Words would also be of interest.

Not the easiest race to weigh up but newcomer DAYDREAM EXPRESS makes plenty of appeal and represents a top yard, so could be the way to go without the benefit of market clues. Carbis Bay back down in trip, and likely improvers Soowaih and Leading Lion are others to consider.

Nicely bred newcomer BEYOND WORDS gets the vote, ahead of Carbis Bay who has good claims back at Newcastle.

LTO Selection:

19:30 Dundalk Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

LOCAL GIRL's form is nothing exciting, but she has a fair level of ability and runs in a winnable maiden. She improved a little when finishing second at Leopardstown in July and while well held in a Cork handicap subsequently, she was one of only two maidens to contest that race. She has good-ground form so should be fine on the all-weather, and likes this distance. Ground-versatile One Boss has stronger form and seems dependable, but dropping to seven furlongs isn't ideal on her all-weather debut. Jack Red Cloud was probably unsuited by heavy ground at Down Royal and if he recaptures his debut Leopardstown form, has strong claims. Blue News is a frustrating 17-race maiden, while Baalbec Beauty has some bits of form but might bump into a few too strong. Quick Blessing was well held recently. Shanadar runs in a first-time hood, while Ocean Symphony runs in cheekpieces.

ONE BOSS holds the edge on form so looks the way to go on the back of her good recent Bellewstown third. Polytrack-debutante Local Girl appeals as the one to give Jessica Harrington's in-form maiden most to do, with Shanadar also in the mix.

A chance is taken on SHANADAR, who has been too keen over 1m on his two starts this year but the hood could help him settle better.

LTO Selection:

19:45 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Raffles Rebel has filled the runner-up spot the last twice in classified events at Wolverhampton and Southwell, so he has to be respected on his return to the handicap ranks. However, preference is for VAN ZANT, who hit the frame over C&D on his penultimate outing and was not seen to best effect in soft ground at Doncaster last time. The four-year-old returns to favourable conditions and can go in off the same mark. Explorers Way completes the shortlist.

The race that QAABIL finished third in at Dundalk last time was much stronger than this, so he's a confident choice to make a winning start. for a new stable. Explorers Way is likely to be back to form and Raffles Rebel is a player if tuned up on return from 8 months off.

Tony Coyle's new recruit QAABIL ran well in defeat at Dundalk last month and might be the answer to a weak race.

LTO Selection:

20:00 Dundalk Handicap 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

JERED MADDOX is an in-form all-weather specialist. He is 10lb higher than when winning readily at Laytown and competes from a career-high mark, but might be able to cope and is equally as effective at this distance. Sweetest Rose is just 3lb higher than when winning at Bellewstown in August. She was beaten in two course maidens last November, but seemed to act on this surface. Dandyville has good form and likes this venue, but has done most of his racing over six furlongs. Sheyya has run just twice this year, but caught the eye when finishing well at Cork in August. She looks reasonably treated from her revised mark, but disappointed on her only all-weather run. Previous C&D winner Hightimeyouwon continues in good form, but doesn't look ahead of the handicapper. Ransom runs for another different trainer and might prefer a mile.

DANDYVILLE wasn't at his best on turf on his most recent outing 26 days ago but his overall record on AW is a solid one and he could just be worth siding with to bounce back. 3-y-o Sweetest Rose and facile Laytown scorer Jered Maddox head up the dangers, whilst Sheyya is also worth keeping an eye on having got back on track at Cork on her latest outing.

SWEETEST ROSE won over 1m at Bellewstown last time but had won over 6.5f at Listowel earlier in the season and she gets the nod.

Hasn't shown much in recent starts and easy to look elsewhere.
LTO Selection:

20:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

KING OF THE JUNGLE (third) was behind Bella Kopella (winner) when taking a sizeable step forward on only his second handicap start to hit the frame at Beverley over this trip for the first time and he was kindly dropped 1lb for that effort. The three-year-old is 5lb better off at the weights this time around and has the potential to reverse that form. Lady Celia ran well when third over C&D last month and has to be considered off the same rating.

LADY CELIA lost little caste in defeat when third over C&D last time and she could be the answer. Next on the list is Elzaal, who won four times here earlier this year and is now 4 lb below his last winning mark. An on-song Motawaazy would be a danger to all and the consistent Another Angel won't be far away if ready to roll following a break.

The most solid profile belongs to LADY CELIA who has been consistent this year and arrives on the back of a C&D third last month.

LTO Selection:

20:30 Dundalk Handicap 11f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

TIME TO BOOGIE has an each-way chance in her first handicap. This Navan fillies' maiden winner may yet prove to be better than a 74-rated handicapper. After that success, she was pitched into a Group 3 at Fairyhouse but weakened out of contention. It is interesting that connections send her to the Polytrack for her handicap bow. Emeric is well versed on the Polytrack and has won three of his last four starts, including two at this track. He has won off a break before and is a big player. Caulaincourt just lost out by a short head over a similar trip at Naas in August and should appreciate this surface. Jabbar arrives on the back of victories on the turf at Killarney and Roscommon and has to be respected. He was successful on the all-weather track in Newcastle for his former trainer.

JABBAR is taken to complete the hat-trick following victories at Killarney and Roscommon the last twice. He could be a hard one for the handicapper to pin down owing to his late-on-the-scene style of racing and a 6 lb rise for his latest success probably underestimates him. If all is well with Riccardi Medici following 9 months off he will be a big danger, while Emeric, who is 3-3 on the Flat this year, and unexposed Ballydoyle filly Time To Boogie are others with claims in a competitive heat.

Dual C&D winner EMERIC bids for a four-timer and should relish a step back up in trip on AW after a narrow success last time

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
