JPR One

9/2(-13%)
(2) JPR One 9/2, Highly tried on back of novice hurdle wins and defied 12-month absence to win 5-runner Taunton handicap (16.5f) in March. Far from disgraced in much more demanding race at Aintree following month and has the size to make a chaser.
Lightly raced 6yo who brings potential to his chase debut and is not ruled out.

2nd (3) Monviel (9/4 +0%)
Monviel

9/4(+0%)
(3) Monviel 9/4, Took another step forward when dominating 2m Ascot handicap on last season's return. Good fifth in top handicaps both starts since, namely the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and Imperial Cup at Sandown. Has left Philip Hobbs & Johnson White. Interesting recruit to chasing.
Progressive over hurdles last season and could go well on his stable/chasing debut.

3rd (1) Iceo (4/6 +19%)
Iceo

4/6(+19%)
(1) Iceo 4/6, Lightly raced over hurdles but useful form, winning the Imperial Cup at Sandown in March, and created a good impression when making a winning chase bow over C&D on return. 7 lb rise probably not enough to prevent the follow up.
Imperial Cup winner who easily made all on chase debut; should take plenty of beating.
LTO Selection:

13:05 Newton Abbot Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Each of these look set to excel over fences this season, but ICEO can come out on top today. Paul Nicholls' gelding romped home in a similar event on his chasing bow earlier this month and he can use that experience, along with race-fitness, to his advantage. Monviel receives 17lb from the selection and could be thereabouts granted a clean round of jumping, while JPR One is taken to chase them home in third.

ICEO bettered his useful hurdles form at the first attempt over fences when making a winning return in good style over C&D 3 weeks ago and can put that experience to good use up against interesting chasing debutants Jpr One and Monviel.

Jpr One and Monviel are interesting chasing newcomers but ICEO won in fine style over C&D recently and gets the nod.

Trawlerman

9/1(+10%)
(6) Trawlerman 9/1, Last year's Ebor victor who resumed at the top of his game when routing a small field in a Salisbury conditions event (14f) last month. Completed a simple task when following up in a Newmarket listed contest and will be bidding to better his third-place finish in this 12 months ago.
3rd in this 2022 on good to soft, unraced on worse; recent wide-margin wins in lower grade.

Kyprios

11/10(+27%)
(3) Kyprios 11/10, Won 4 Group 1s in an outstanding 2022 season, producing one of the best performances by a stayer for years when 20-length winner of Cadran at Longchamp on final start. Looked rusty on his belated return from injury in Irish St Leger but still very much the one to beat if back to his best.
The one to beat on 2022 form; needs major step forward from his recent return from injury.

3rd (5) Sweet William (17/2 -13%)
Sweet William

17/2(-13%)
(5) Sweet William 17/2, Most progressive since equipped with blinkers, winning very competitive handicaps at Newbury (2m) in July and Goodwood in August. Excellent second of 22 in the Ebor at York and ran at least as well upped in grade when runner-up to Trueshan in Doncaster Cup. More needed to reverse the form, though.
Beaten just over 1l by Trueshan in Doncaster Cup; highly progressive; appeals each-way.

4th (7) Trueshan (5/2 +0%)
Trueshan

5/2(+0%)
(7) Trueshan 5/2, One of the leading stayers of recent years who won this race for a third consecutive year in 2022. Generally below his best this season but showed he's back in much better nick when landing the Prix du Cadran by 4 lengths at Longchamp 3 weeks ago and that sets him up nicely for this.
Goes very well in the mud and a fourth Long Distance Cup win may well be forthcoming.

(2) Coltrane 15/2, A tough and most reliable stayer who added another Group 2 to his CV when seeing off Gold Cup winner Courage Mon Ami in the Lonsdale Cup at York (2m, good to firm) in August. A leading stayer this year but below form in his two runs on soft, including last time.

Broome

33/1(+34%)
(1) Broome 33/1, Won the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan in March. Creditable third in the Yorkshire Cup on his return to Europe but well below that level since, including when third to Trueshan in Doncaster Cup on most recent outing. Easy enough to discard at this level at present.
Won 2m Dubai Gold Cup in March; has not lived up to that; 3rd to two of these at Doncaster.
7th
7th (8) Maxident (150/1 +0%)
Maxident

150/1(+0%)
(8) Maxident 150/1, Won at Leicester by a huge margin in April. However, hasn't progressed since and has no business in this field.
Only four races, so could still do better, but vastly better is required in this race.
8th
8th (4) Stratum (80/1 +20%)
Stratum

80/1(+20%)
(4) Stratum 80/1, Veteran who landed the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2022. However, has yet to fire this season and ran poorly having a rare handicap start at the Curragh last month. Easily passed over at this level.
Now a 10yo and will seemingly do very well to match last year's fourth in this event.
LTO Selection:

13:15 Ascot Group 2 (Class 1) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

After nearly a year off due to injury, Kyprios returned to the track to finish second when looking to defend his Irish St Leger crown over 1m6f at the Curragh last month. Connections will be hoping that the cobwebs have been blown off and their superstar stayer is back to his best. However, it's TRUESHAN who gets the nod to reverse the form of the 2022 Goodwood Cup and get the better of Aidan O'Brien's charge today. Alan King's runner has been in fine form recently, winning the Doncaster Cup and the Group 1 Prix du Cadran over 2m4f at Longchamp in ready fashion last time, and he has conditions that suit today. Sweet William heads the remainder.

KYPRIOS was off his game returning from injury in the Irish St Leger, but he posted one of the most remarkable staying performances of modern times when landing the Cadran on his final outing in 2022, and will take a fair bit of beating if returning to anywhere near that level. Trueshan turned in his best effort of the season when winning the latest renewal of the aforementioned event and is second choice in his bid to win this race for a fourth consecutive year.

Kyprios needs to raise his game again after injury and resurgent TRUESHAN, bidding to win this for the fourth time, is preferred.

LTO Selection:

13:20 Leopardstown Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

HARBOUR GEM made a promising debut over a mile at Thurles earlier this month and, given normal improvement, should go close. The Barry Fitzgerald-trained filly had fellow newcomer Gushing six lengths back in fourth and the form received a boost when runner-up Alpheratz scored in good style at Gowran on Tuesday. Fleur De Chine also made an encouraging start over this trip at Naas in the maiden won by Kitty Rose and the form of that race has worked out particularly well since with the winner going on to land a Listed race and the second, fourth and seventh all winning maidens next time out. She looks a big threat if handling this much softer ground. Flight Of Fancy and Go Girl Go are others to consider along with a list of interesting newcomers including Azada, Bizarre Dreams and Ocean Diamond.

HARBOUR GEM shaped well amidst greenness when third of 8 in maiden (13/2) at Thurles and is bound to come on plenty for that. He sets the standard as well so gets the vote over Flight of Fancy and Fleur de Chine, who also showed ability first-time out.

With the Harrington team in form, FLEUR DE CHINE can be fancied to build on her debut fifth at Naas

(2) Complete Unknown 4/5, Developed into a useful hurdler in 2021/22 and made a winning start over fences at Ffos Las (21f) last December. Back to winning ways with a devastating win in Kempton handicap in March and found only Gerri Colombe too strong in Grade 1 at Aintree in April. Had a wind op and looks the one to beat.

Very lightly raced 8yo; pulled up twice after successful reappearance last year.

13:40 Newton Abbot Conditions Chase (Class 2) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

COMPLETE UNKNOWN finished a creditable second in a Grade 1 at Aintree when last seen and he is likely to be a tough nut to crack on this return to action. Might I is a half-brother to two useful chasers, most notably Stattler, and looks an interesting recruit to fences. Ballygrifincottage reappears with something to prove, having been pulled up on his last two starts, and is perhaps up against in on these terms.

It's tough to get away from COMPLETE UNKNOWN, who found only Gerri Colombe too strong in the Grade 1 Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree 6 months ago and this looks a perfect opportunity for Paul Nicholls' 7-y-o to notch a third success over the larger obstacles. Might I is established as a smart hurdler and can chase home the selection on chase debut.

Complete Unknown has valuable chasing experience but the classy MIGHT I gets 10lb and could make a winning debut over fences.

LTO Selection:

13:45 Catterick Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MERCURY DAY wasn't beaten far into fourth on her debut at Newmarket and, with normal improvement, she could be the one to beat. The main threat is Goldingreatstore, who showed plenty of ability when third on his first outing at Pontefract and can put it up to the selection. Bubbles Wonky should take a step forward from his fourth at Redcar and completes the shortlist.

Ralph Beckett's Time Test filly MERCURY DAY made a promsing start when fourth in a big-field Newmarket maiden and looks the way to go here. Redcar-fourth Bubbles Wonky also has better days ahead of him and rates the chief threat, with Goldingreatstore and Last Applause both in the mix too in a fair juvenile novice.

The Ralph Beckett-trained filly MERCURY DAY holds strong form claims having been fourth of 17 on her recent debut at Newmarket.

Ground conditions should be ideal for Ralph Beckett's charge as he looks to give Frankie Dettori a Group 1-winning send off on his Ascot swan song. A comfortable winner of the Park Stakes at Doncaster, C&D winner Sandrine is of interest now back over 6f, while Spycatcher and last year's sixth Vadream should enjoy conditions. Not beaten far in the Haydock Spring Cup, Believing is a key player, along with Mill Stream, who has had a very progressive season.

An impressive winner of this race 12 months ago, KINROSS has looked as good as ever this time around, landing a pair of Group 2s prior to a solid second in the Foret at Longchamp on his latest outing 3 weeks ago. With forecast conditions looking firmly in his favour he can make a bold bid to defend his crown. Vadream is another who will relish this ground and is feared, with last year's fourth Rohaan and Sandrine completing the shortlist.

Everything looks in place for a bold bid from KINROSS to win back-to-back runnings of this Group 1, with Sandrine the main threat.

13:55 Leopardstown Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SHAMSUDDIN took a good step forward from his Curragh debut when beating all bar Ocean Conquest at Punchestown earlier this month with Rocking Tree over four lengths back in fourth. The latter has since gone close at Navan and hopefully Johnny Murtagh's charge can cope with these much softer conditions. Master Of The Hunt shaped well on debut when third behind smart stablemate Henry Longfellow at the Curragh but having failed at long odds-on in Listowel, is now fitted with blinkers. Guildenstern also made a bright start in a Curragh maiden but subsequently struggled on soft ground. Spoken Truth catches the eye on pedigree being a brother to Homeless Songs, while Autumn Winter and Ocean Manifest are others to consider on debut.

It was a little disappointing to see MASTER OF THE HIUNT fail to land the odds at Listowel given the way he shaped on debut but his leading yard apply blinkers and there should be plenty more to come. He can make amends with newcomers feared most in the shape of Spoken Truth and Autumn Winter, the latter a stablemate of the selection.

It may be worth taking a chance on GUILDENSTERN who chased home the talented Diego Velasquez before contesting the Goffs Million

14:05 Limerick Maiden Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A PENNY A HUNDRED made a winning start in a Sligo bumper in August and the runner-up franked the form at Sedgefield earlier in the month. Her half-brother won on hurdling debut and she can emulate him although her ability to handle heavy ground has to be taken on trust. Liberated Light won a maiden over 1m6f at Killarney and has run respectably in a couple of handicaps. A half-brother to crack bumper horse A Dream To Share, he is one to note on hurdling debut. Cut The Rope has been off since January when he made all to win the first four-year-old bumper of the year. He handled testing ground then and is another hurdling debutant to consider.

A PENNY A HUNDRED is in the best possible hands and having quickened clear of a subsequent winner in a Sligo bumper on her debut in August, she makes most appeal. Cut The Rope also won his sole outing in bumpers and has to be feared now making the switch to hurdling, while Chicago Storm ought to improve on his opening effort at Roscommon and may have a say in proceedings, too.

Little depth to this maiden and Sligo bumper winner A PENNY A HUNDRED can score if handling the ground. Liberated Light is noted

LTO Selection:

14:15 Newton Abbot Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Paul Nicholls has won two of the previous three renewals so Uttoxeter bumper winner Farnoge must be respected with that in mind. A chance, however, is taken on JASMIN DE GRUGY. The son of Masked Marvel showed little in the pointing sphere, but he's bred to relish this switch to hurdles and might not have to be anything out of the ordinary. Others to note include Flying Fortune and Spinnaker Blue.

FARNOGE won his sole outing in bumpers with fair bit in hand and, being a half-brother to smart hurdler Hawk High, he makes plenty of appeal now his attentions are turned to jumping. Flying Fortune was a shade underwhelming on her recent hurdling debut at Worcester but is clearly capable of better based on her bumper exploits, with newcomer Spinnaker Blue also worthy of respect.

This could well be a good opportunity for the Paul Nicholls-trained bumper winner FARNOGE to make it 2-2 under rules.

14:20 Catterick Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LUDDEN LASS finished third behind a well-bred John & Thady Gosden newcomer at Southwell last time, which signalled she has taken a step forward as that effort came after a 122-day break. Therefore, the three-year-old should be able to shed her maiden tag at the sixth time of asking. The main danger is Hamlet, who was victorious on debut and should give it a good go even with a 7lb penalty to shoulder, while any market support for Button Bay should also be noted.

LUDDEN LASS returned from a lay-off with an encouraging Southwell third and looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark in a novice where a few have question marks against them. Southwell-scorer Hamlet is feared most under his penalty ahead of the lightly-raced Sixties Chic.

Preference is for LUDDEN LASS, who has run well to be placed over 7f the last twice and could benefit from this drop back to 6f.

14:25 Ascot Group 1 (Class 1) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

TIME LOCK seems impervious to the state of the ground and, having easily brushed aside Sweet Memories (second) and Running Lion (third) when landing the Dubai Stakes at Newmarket last month, she is likely to make a bold bid to extend her winning run to three on the bounce. Obviously, this is a stiffer test and the challenges presented by the less exposed Jackie Oh and high-class Free Wind are afforded the utmost respect, with the latter looking the pick of that pair given the Gosden's fine record in this race. Rue Boissonade's French form has plenty of depth and she, too, is a must for consideration.

The Classic generation has a tremendous record in this race and JACKIE OH may enhance it further. She's untried over middle-distances on deep ground but she certainly promises to cope with it and her neck-second in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp suggests she's better than ever. Free Wind and Above The Curve are established at the top table against their own sex and head the opposition.

French challenger RUE BOISSONADE (nap) made late gains in Group 1s on good to soft on her last two starts. Jackie Oh is feared most.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A small but competitive field with all bar one of the quintet having won last time out and perhaps GLAMOROUSLY can complete a hat-trick. The daughter of Mehmas hails from a yard in top form at present and should be suited by this step up in trip after needing every yard of the six furlongs at Naas last weekend. She's proven on testing ground and is now reunited with 10lb claimer Keithen Kennedy who was aboard when successful previously at Navan. Sun Never Sets overcame the inconvenience of a slipped saddle when successful on heavy ground at Bellewstown last month, while Sli Na Ghealai has form on various ground conditions and now tackles handicap company for the first time after making all over this trip at Down Royal.

GLAMOROUSLY has been transformed by blinkers and looks up to completing the hat-trick. Sun Never Sets showed a gutsy attitude to open her account at Bellewstown recently and is narrowly preferred to fellow last-time-out scorer Basilah Bear for the forecast spot.

SUN NEVER SETS scored snugly at Bellewstown on testing ground and has those conditions again today, so is selected.

LTO Selection:

14:40 Limerick Handicap Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

HARD RAIN won a similar contest by nine lengths on yielding to soft ground here in July and the form got a timely boost when the runner-up scored at Thurles on Thursday. The selection ran poorly over hurdles on his next start but comes here on the back of two placed efforts over fences and should give a good account of himself. Young Fitzy has won twice on testing ground and comes into this in reasonable form. His sixth at Galway after a summer break was encouraging and, although well beaten back there since, he's capable of contending on the pick of his form. Miss Pronunciation had a good run in a Punchestown maiden last year but has been lightly raced since. She didn't land a blow on handicap debut when last seen on Thyestes day at Gowran but is very unexposed and the market will be a useful guide to her chance.

GO GILL GO shaped as if needing the run at Roscommon last month so she could be worth chancing off a career-low mark. Hard Rain is feared most ahead of Everystep Oftheway.

Few appeal so perhaps the long absent COSMIC ROCK, a previous C&D winner in similar conditions, can make another winning return

INVESTMENT MANAGER has been unlucky to hit the crossbar the last twice, including in a class 3 event over C&D earlier in the month, and he is only 2lb higher. The son of Nathaniel can be rewarded for his consistency by getting his head back in front. Back Yourself is an interesting contender on his first start for the David Pipe yard after being victorious on his handicap bow over the smaller obstacles and he warrants a market check on his chase debut. Crossing The Bar completes the shortlist.

BACK YOURSELF made a mockery of his opening mark when successful over hurdles at Ffos Las back in May and, now starting out for his new yard, it would come as no surprise were he capable of better still tackling larger obstacles for the first time. Investment Manager and Rock of Star are just a couple of others to consider.

The percentage call is INVESTMENT MANAGER, as he arrives fit and in form in a race for which his rivals are returning from breaks.

LTO Selection:

15:00 Catterick Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MUSCIKA bounced back to form in good style with a three-length success at Epsom in August and he was raised 6lb for that effort, which keeps him feasibly treated on his previous form. Therefore, the nine-year-old can make it a double. Broken Spear wasn't disgraced in third over 7f at Chester last month and he could appreciate the return to the trip he last won over in May. Of the remainder, Oso Rapido makes the most appeal.

C&D winner OSO RAPIDO lost the race in the stewards' room when demoted to runner-up at York last time so is fancied to gain compensation in this tight-knit sprint. In-form pair Broken Spear and Ramiro can both have a say too and chase home the selection in that order.

Having made his headway perhaps quicker than ideal prior to fading into fifth at Ayr recently, the in-form RAMIRO earns the vote.

LTO Selection:

15:01 Leopardstown Group 3 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MILITARY was backed as if defeat was out of the question on debut at Naas and duly landed cramped odds in decisive fashion. The Siyouni colt was then stepped up in class to tackle a Group 3 at Newmarket and the form of that race looks solid as the winner and third went on to fill the places behind City Of Troy in the Dewhurst Stakes last Saturday. The likely extreme ground conditions is a question mark about a number of these including Atlantic Coast who has a similar profile to the selection having won a Curragh maiden on debut before finishing third to Diego Velazquez in a Group 2 here on Irish Champions Weekend. Instant Appeal likes to race prominently and opened his account last time when beating Starliner (won since) at Gowran, while Sluice handled this ground when scoring on debut at Down Royal. Bright Stripes finished well in the valuable Ballyhane Stakes before returning to Naas when landing the odds last month.

A winner on debut at the Curragh, ATLANTIC COAST ran at least as well when third in Group 2 company over 1m here 6 weeks ago. That experience won't have been wasted on him and he can make a bold bid to resume winning ways. Military is a similarly progressive juvenile and rates the chief danger, ahead of Instant Appeal who is also expected to step up further.

Third behind two Ballydoyle-trained colts in a 1m Group 2 event at this venue ATLANTIC COAST may take the measure of Military

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Paddington's winning run came to an end in the Juddmonte International when third to Mostahdaf having been kept busy since the beginning of the season. The four-time Group 1 winner has been freshened up for this, but it remains to be seen whether his schedule earlier in the campaign has left a mark and, therefore, the vote goes to NASHWA. She finished ahead of Aidan O'Brien's colt at York and backed that up when a close third in the Irish Champion Stakes. With conditions on the softer side and the manner of her impressive win in the Falmouth fresh in the mind, this appears to be a shrewd move by connections. Tahiyra's bid may be dampened by persistent rain, so the other main challengers could prove to be the French duo of Big Rock and Facteur Cheval.

NASHWA's turn of foot proved to be a potent weapon dropped back to 1m when an impressive winner of the Falmouth at Newmarket and she has since run some huge races in defeat back up in trip, notably when finishing a neck in front of Paddington in the Juddmonte International. A stiff 1m is ideal for the Gosden filly and she looks the value call with leading 3-y-o Paddington likely to be a warm favourite once again. Classy 3-y-o filly Tahiyra is another big player.

High-class filly NASHWA is very interesting back at this distance and looks a solid alternative to excellent colt Paddington.

15:15 Limerick Conditions Hurdle 23f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

RIVIERE D'ETEL was a high-class novice over fences the season before last and has a good record first time out. A Grade 2 winner over the larger obstacles and twice runner-up in Grade 1 company, she hasn't run over hurdles for well over two years and this trip might stretch her stamina but if anywhere near her best she could outclass these rivals. Space Tourist was long odds-on when caught on the line by Popova at Listowel. The former is 3lb better off and can reverse the form but deep ground is a concern for both mares and Space Tourist's tendency to jump left is also a worry on her return to a right-handed track. The handicapper took the view that Lady Of The Vale was flattered by her third in a Listed contest at Gowran but it was a creditable effort and she has place claims if seeing out this trip.

Although POPOVA meets Space Tourist on worse terms than when narrowly denying her at Listowel the step up in trip promises to see Henry de Bromhead's mare in an even better light and she can confirm placings with her old rival. Riviere D'etel was struggling over fences when last seen in the spring but could also have a say if a return to hurdles sparks her back to life.

She's back from six months off and hasn't run over hurdles for ages but RIVIERE D'ETEL is a different calibre of mare to these

LTO Selection:

15:35 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 26f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

WEST TO THE BRIDGE was only beaten by a length and a half over an extended 2m7f at Uttoxeter earlier in the month and that match-fitness puts him in good shape ahead of this contest. The veteran could prove hard to beat off a 1lb higher rating. Top weight Itchy Feet will find this a much easier assignment than the warm handicaps he was last seen competing in at Cheltenham and Aintree, so he has to be considered on his return to action. Rose Of Arcadia makes her return to this sphere and is the best of the rest.

ITCHY FEET drops in class on this reappearance, and with his record fresh a positive one, he can successfully concede weight all round. West To The Bridge ran right up to form at Uttoxeter a fortnight ago and is feared most, though Rose of Arcadia has it in her to go well on return to action.

C&D winner WEST TO THE BRIDGE arrives with a good recent run under his belt and that tilts the verdict in his favour.

15:36 Leopardstown Group 3 9f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NAVAL FORCE made a pleasing start when successful over a mile at Killarney last month and the form of that race received a timely boost when the third, The Euphrates, won at Gowran Park on Tuesday. The Churchill gelding finished strongly and should be suited by this extra furlong. The same remark applies to Grosvenor Square who won a Galway maiden on debut and again put in his best work at the finish when third to Deepone in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh. Look At The Stars took a big step forward from his debut when relishing heavy ground at the Listowel Festival last month, while these conditions will also hold no fears for Zaphod who stayed on really strongly when making an impressive debut over this trip at Tipperary.

GROSVENOR SQUARE impressed when landing a Galway maiden on debut last month and encouragingly built on that upped markedly in class 11 days later when third in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at the Curragh 4 weeks ago. Open to further improvement now his stamina is tested further, he looks sure to play a big part. Naval Force and Cambridge head the dangers, whilst Ezeliya, the only filly in the line-up shouldn't be underestimated either.

Aidan O'Brien has a relatively poor recent record this race but his Beresford Stakes third GROSVENOR SQUARE(nap) sets a decent standard

15:40 Catterick Handicap (Class 2) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

VINTAGE CLARETS was a gutsy winner over 5f at York last month and a repeat of that effort would make him tough to beat. Richard Fahey's charge finished a neck in front of the reopposing Wen Moon, who has subsequently franked that form by coming out and going one better over 5f on the Knavesmire. Glorious Angel runs off the same mark as her narrow defeat over 7f at Musselburgh and joins Count D'Orsay on the shortlist.

WEN MOON got back to winning ways at York last time out and is weighted to go close again despite taking a 6 lb rise here. Vintage Clarets also arrives on the back of a recent success at the Knavesmire and is feared most. Manila Scouse, Count d'Orsay and Glorious Angel all need factoring into this competitive handicap too.

Last year's runner-up VINTAGE CLARETS prevailed narrowly from Wen Moon in a big field at York last time and is taken to follow up.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

A few with chances, including last year's winner Bay Bridge, who arrives following a creditable sixth in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and progressive French raider Horizon Dore. That said, it might pay to side with MOSTAHDAF. The son of Frankel landed the Prince Of Wales's Stakes here in June and was given an excellent ride in the Juddmonte at York next time. He appears to have matured ten-fold this season, and the Group 1 hat-trick does not look beyond him. Via Sistina will be suited by underfoot conditions and should not be underestimated.

Conditions will no doubt play their part in the signature race of the day and with no Auguste Rodin to worry about, KING OF STEEL is selected to gain a first Group 1 level success of his career and give Frankie Dettori the perfect send off on his 'final' ride in Europe. Bay Bridge's finest hour came when landing this contest 12 months ago and he looks sure to put up a bold defence of his crown, with Via Sistina and Mostahdaf (who is by no means a guaranteed runner) another couple to consider.

Frankie Dettori's last ride in Britain, KING OF STEEL, holds strong claims and gets the vote ahead of Horizon Dore.

LTO Selection:

15:50 Limerick Maiden Hurdle 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Charles Byrnes holds SUMMER MELODY in high regard and it's interesting that he sends his charge into a Listed race on his third hurdles outing rather than starting off the season in maiden company. A bumper winner at Navan last term where he beat a useful type, he was last seen when not beaten far in fourth behind more experienced rivals at this venue last Christmas and gets a handy 4lb from the trio of dual hurdle winners. High Class Hero, unbeaten in three starts under rules, seemed more suited by left-handed Listowel last time than right-handed Galway where he won his maiden hurdle despite jumping left. He still merits obvious respect. The Big Doyen had three Mullins-trained rivals in arrears when winning over 2m4f at the Galway festival. He has plenty of jumping experience to draw upon and, although this ground may not be ideal, is another that has to enter calculations.

A quality renewal of this listed contest. HIGH CLASS HERO and The Wallpark are similarly progressive types and may well dominate the finish, for all that this is far from a two-horse race with unbeaten 4-y-o filly Mayor's Walk and hat-trick seeking The Big Doyen also in the line-up. There's plenty of substance to High Class Hero's form and he is taken to make it 4-4 under Rules.

Interesting that Charles Byrnes sends the maiden SUMMER MELODY into Listed company on seasonal debut and the hint might be worth taking

LTO Selection:

16:11 Leopardstown Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ANDROMEDA has filled the runner-up spot on both previous outings with cut in the ground and is taken to open her account at the third attempt. The Galileo filly beat all bar odds-on stablemate and subsequent Group 1 winner Opera Singer on debut over C&D and was only collared in the closing stages subsequently at Tipperary with Camelot Alexander over five lengths behind. There is very little to choose between Whisper A Prayer and Higher Leaves on their running behind Ezeliya over this trip at Cork. The Henry de Bromhead-trained filly finished well from off the pace when making her debut in that race and should have scope for further improvement. Sara Valentina, Realt Na Ri and Cheeky Wink are three newcomers to note in the market.

The return to 1m will help ANDROMEDA and given she already sets a pretty good standard, she rates the percentage call. Elizabeth Jane is bred to make up into a useful 3-y-o but she can still make her presence felt on debut, with Higher Leaves another to consider.

Despite the doubt raised by her Tipperary defeat ANDROMEDA is the clear pick by virtue of her second to Opera Singer at the Curragh

LTO Selection:

16:12 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A progressive sort throughout this season and not beaten far at Brighton last time out, HITCHED looks to have been found an ideal opportunity to get back to winning ways from a plum inside draw. C&D winner Weloof has been running with credit of late and must enter calculations, along with Zakram, who may be suited by the drop in distance. Alyara and Kingwell are entitled to be thereabouts as well.

ALYARA went close over a shorter trip here last time and might prove the answer to this opener. 3-y-os Hitched, who has scored twice on turf this year, and Paco's Pride may give John Flint's mare most to do.

Off a handy mark back up in distance, ALYARA could well regain the winning thread. Hitched is second choice.

16:15 Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WONDERFUL EAGLE was useful on the Flat in Germany and arrives here having won both of his starts over hurdles at this venue in recent months. Those efforts suggest that a mark of 108 should be workable on his handicap bow and he gets the vote ahead of Hasty Parisian, who was second off this mark when last seen in June. Others to note are Individualiste and Gyenyame.

A few with potential but WONDERFUL EAGLE looks to have got in lightly for his handicap debut so is taken to make it 3-3 in this sphere. Paul Nicholls' Individualiste has a long absence to overcome but is still feared most, with Little Else and Kapitaliste also in the mix in an intriguing event.

First choice has to be WONDERFUL EAGLE- (nap), who brings very compelling credentials. Gyenyame is feared most.

LTO Selection:

16:20 Catterick Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

QUEST FOR FUN was only just denied in a deeper contest than this over 7f at York last month and he could be tough to beat in these calmer waters. Tim Easterby's runner has been raised 4lb in the ratings for that effort but another bold bid looks assured. Legal Reform is feared most raised just 1lb for his three-quarters-of-a-length second over 7f at Chester last time, while better can be expected from Capital Guarantee.

A 3-time winner earlier this year, LEGAL REFORM returned from a short break with another fine effort when runner-up on yard debut at Chester last month and with conditions holding no fears, he can make a bold bid to maintain his 100% record over this C&D. Quest For Fun ran a cracker himself when just touched off at York recently and he's feared, whilst Mutanaaseq could dispel a couple of lesser runs now returned to this venue.

Heavy-ground C&D winner LEGAL REFORM (nap) was a good second on his stable debut at Chester three weeks ago and can go one better.

16:21 Limerick Maiden Hurdle 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Gavin Cromwell has a good record in these restricted maidens and looks to have found a nice opportunity for hurdling debutant ASK ANYTHING. Keith Donoghue's mount won a point-to- point last November and ran well in bumpers, notably when fifth to Cheltenham runner-up Fact To File at Leopardstown last Christmas. Despite failing to beat a rival, he was far from disgraced in a decent winners' contest at the Punchestown festival when last seen. Jullou Du Grissay had shown little prior to finishing fourth in a maiden run on testing ground at Gowran last month. The winner of that contest is trained by Cromwell so he should be in a good position to know what's required to take this. Larkfield Lusive was a fair fifth off a mark of 90 in a Gowran handicap over 2m4f last time and has place claims in a maiden lacking depth.

JULLOU DE GRISSAY caught the eye finishing with running left at Gowran 3 weeks ago and should be up to winning a race of this nature with further improvement on the cards. Ask Anything and Milfordfourthree head the dangers.

A weak maiden in which Gowran maiden fourth JULLOU DE GRISSAY is preferred to hurdles debutant Ask Anything

LTO Selection:

16:25 Ascot Handicap (Class 2) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

In a wide-open renewal of this valuable handicap marginal preference is for AWAAL, who arrives here 1lb lower than when third in the Royal Hunt Cup over course and distance in June. He confirmed his well-being when filling the same position at Listed level two weeks ago and he should relish conditions. Migration beat the selection in the Lincoln earlier in the year but may not be able to confirm that form on these terms. Docklands remains unexposed and should not be discounted, while Lattam has to be of some interest in first-time cheekpieces. The shortlist is completed by Raadobarg, Sonny Liston and Vetiver.

DOCKLANDS gained the first of 2 C&D wins this summer on soft ground and is worth a chance to atone for his lesser run in pattern company at Glorious Goodwood as he continues to look well treated on the form of his impressive Britannia success at the Royal meeting. David O'Meara has won this 3 times since 2017 so his runners need paying close attention, with Blue For You and Bopedro possibly the pick of them. Al Mubhir and Sonny Liston also make the shortlist.

A stiff test at 1m on testing ground promises to suit AL MUBHIR and he gets the vote in a typically competitive running of this race.

LTO Selection:

16:46 Leopardstown Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

KINESIOLOGY made little impression after a slow start on debut at Killarney in July but was prominent throughout the following month when making Chief Little Rock work hard to land prohibitive odds over this C&D. The winner has been placed on both outings since including when runner-up to Deepone in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes. Invention never really got involved on debut in the 1m1f Curragh maiden won in impressive fashion by Illinois but did come home well and looks sure to benefit from the experience. Vestigia handled soft ground when just denied in a Curragh nursery and could progress further over this extra furlong, while riding arrangements suggest Ocean Of Dreams may prove the pick of a trio of well-bred newcomers from Ballydoyle.

KINESIOLOGY was nicely clear of the rest when runner-up over C&D in August and given that race worked out, he's very much the one to beat. Invention will have derived plenty from his debut and could be open to a lot of improvement, with Blackpool one of a trio of likely-looking Aidan O'Brien newcomers.

KINESIOLOGY has the experience of two runs to fall back on, notably a close second to a Group-placed colt over C&D last time.

16:50 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Runner-up on his last two starts, including over C&D last month, ISLAND NATIVE seems to set the standard on form and he must hold every chance if able to overcome the widest draw. Harbour Vision may be winless since scoring over C&D last December, but he is now 7lb below that mark, while Glory Call must be of interest on the step up in trip.

The draw could have been kinder to ISLAND NATIVE but he still looks worth siding with on the back of good runner-up efforts in recent weeks. Waleyfa could be sharper for a recent outing on turf and is feared most as a three-time AW winner. My Roxanne has a pretty solid record lately and should also be in the shake-up.

LTO Selection:

16:55 Catterick Handicap (Class 4) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Valley Of Flowers completed her hat-trick at Newcastle eight days ago and, though respected, this will require a career-best performance. FLASH BARDOT has been largely consistent this season and gained a deserved victory at Newbury last month. George Bass negates most of the 4lb rise incurred for that success and she is fancied to follow up. Others to note include Dark Jedi and Matchless.

VALLEY OF FLOWERS has thrived in recent weeks, bringing up the hat-trick (all under Jo Mason) with any amount to spare over further at Newcastle 8 days ago. With the drop back in trip holding no fears (C&D winner), she can make a bold bid to bring up the 4-timer. Flash Bardot rates the chief threat, ahead of Dark Jedi.

Opposing Valley Of Flowers flies in the face of three easy wins but FLASH BARDOT took very well to soft ground at Newbury.

LTO Selection:

16:56 Limerick Handicap Hurdle 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

HE FITZ IN won over a similar trip at Navan on his most recent start over hurdles and can defy a 4lb higher mark. He looked unlucky over fences at Sligo when a last-fence faller and again performed with credit when second at Punchestown. He's had a fairly busy time of things but finished well on his most recent outing and the fitting of a visor seems to have sharpened him. Church Lane ran her best race so far when third at Galway where a first-time tongue-tie seemed to have a positive effect and any improvement on that form will see her go close. Ishan won a 3m handicap on soft ground last winter and had a good run on heavy when second over fences at Wexford. He's had a couple of spins over an inadequate 2m since returning from a summer break and is one to note stepping back up to a more suitable distance.

HE FITZ IN is going through a good spell at present and remains of interest back over hurdles. Church Lane and Well Loved head the dangers.

Preference is for CHURCH LANE on the back of a much improved run at Galway in a tongue tie

LTO Selection:

17:00 Newton Abbot NH Flat Race (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WALKS LIKE THE MAN represents a yard with a very good record in bumpers and the winning point-to-pointer has to be respected having been purchased for 225,000 pounds following that success in February. Hikari Pompadour Aa merits a place on the shortlist given his connections, while Tough Approach and El Granjero are others who have to be of some interest.

HIKARI POMPADOUR AA represents a stable that enjoyed a good deal of success in this sphere last season and he makes plenty of appeal on pedigree, so he's worth a chance to make a winning start despite the presence of point-recruits Walks Like The Man and El Granjero.

The market needs watching for clues but the most appealing profile is that of WALKS LIKE THE MAN, a big-money buy after winning a point.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NOBLE ANTHEM won the first leg of this series over a similar trip at Naas in August before finishing second to Fair Damsel over 1m4f in the second leg at the Curragh. There's no doubt he should have won on the latter occasion as well when his rider eased down well before the line and he can make amends over this more suitable trip. Fair Damsel was second under Colin Keane in a handicap at Gowran on Monday and relishes testing ground so looks a big player again. Adhuil also went close at Gowran on Monday when second over an extended 1m1f and the horse that beat him followed up back at the Kilkenny venue the following afternoon.

NOBLE ANTHEM looked set to win at the Curragh before being eased prematurely by this rider. He is unlikely to make the same error again

17:25 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A promising third on her debut at Kempton last month when short of room at a crucial stage two furlongs out, PRINCESS ALICE looks the one to be on with improvement forthcoming. Runner-up on two of her last three starts, Miss Anya must be a key player, as well as course winner Shuangxi, who takes a significant drop in grade having contested the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket latest.

SHUANGXI found the marked step up in class all too much on her latest outing 3 weeks ago but she'd created a positive impression when making a winning debut over the minimum trip here previously. Returned to calmer waters, she may well be up to resuming progress, with Miss Anya and Princess Alice fancied to pose the lead threats to Michael Bell's filly.

Shuangxi will appreciate the drop in class but PRINCESS ALICE (nap) can take a big step forward from her promising Kempton debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

EBONY MAW was finally able to exploit a sliding handicap mark when winning at Ayr nine days ago. With that confidence-boosting success under his belt, Ewan Whillans' charge can shrug off a subsequent 2lb rise and double up. Can Can Girl drops in class following a good second at Ripon and must enter calculations, while The Dancing Poet appeals most of the remainder.

An open handicap so at the likely odds it is worth siding with SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH to build on her recent Newcastle tenth after an absence and bag a second course success off a handy-looking mark. Skye Breeze also returns from a spell off the track but Ed Bethell's low-mileage 4-y-o merits consideration along with course-specialist The Dancing Poet and Ayr-scorer Ebony Maw.

Recent heavy-ground winner Ebony Maw has a big shout. Watch out also for SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH, who won on heavy here in April.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

MA BELLE ETOILE shaped with plenty of potential when runner-up on soft ground at Tipperary three weeks ago and can go one better. Green when asked for her effort on that occasion, she went down by three lengths to a mare that had useful form in the book and her stable sent out a promising bumper winner under this rider last weekend. Only By Night was third in a good ground bumper at Warwick in February on her sole start for Jonjo O'Neill. That form hasn't really worked out but the point-to-point winner still merits respect having switched to Gavin Cromwell's yard. Penelope's Charm has only been beaten three lengths on both starts and the form of those races looks solid. She has been off over five months, though, and will have to prove her ability to handle testing conditions.

MA BELLE ETOILE showed plenty having been left with plenty to do when second at Tipperary on debut and, with more to come, she's likely to open her account at the second attempt. Only By Night also shaped well on debut (for a different yard) and Penelope's Charm isn't one to take lightly.

18:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

GLAMOROUS EXPRESS hit the frame over an extended 5f in a class 4 event at Bath last time and the handicapper put him up 3lb for that display. However, that may not be enough to prevent him from recording his second career success. Speed Dial Baileys has hit the frame the last twice over 5f here and could have a say, while Newyorkstateofmind is also of interest.

GLAMOROUS EXPRESS is on a handy mark and arrives in form, so he's preferred to Cabeza de LLave and Speed Dial Baileys in what looks a wide-open sprint.

18:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

GRANNY B was successful when making her first start for the Michael Mullineaux stable at Pontefract last time and she is only 2lb higher for that victory. The daughter of Acclamation could easily take another step forward to record a double. Dalby Forest ran too bad to be true over C&D last month and he now sports first-time blinkers, which could eke out more. Of the remainder, C&D winner Josies Kid appeals most.

BOOM THE GROOM has been in top form for a while and should be able to secure the early lead, so he should be hard to pass. Last-time-out winners Josies Kid and Granny B are obvious dangers.

19:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

GERROTS (second) had Mellow Mood (fourth) behind when making an encouraging start to life under Deborah Faulkner over 1m6f here earlier in the month, and he is able to compete off the same rating. The five-year-old should have no issue with this longer trip and can get his head in front for the first time. If Roman Art can run to the level of his third at Southwell over 1m3f on his penultimate start, then he could get competitive too.

The vote goes to HUSCARI, who has performed with credit both starts since returning from a break last month and her latest effort at Southwell can be marked up a touch, as she wasn't suited by the way the race unfolded. Gerrots put in a good shift on debut for this yard over 1¾m here and a reproduction of that would give him every chance of finally getting his head in front. Roman Art and Mellow Mood are others to consider.

TARJEEH has been off the track since beating a decent field in a novice event at Newbury in July 2022 but it would be no surprise to see him make a winning return in a race of this nature. Leading Lion looks the most likely to benefit if the selection disappoints based on his second at Newcastle recently, while Elladonna and Running Star are next best.

The well-bred TARJEEH hasn't been seen out since landing a Newbury novice last July, but he looked very promising that day and remains capable of better. If fully-tuned up for this assignment, he will take plenty of stopping. Elladonna and Leading Lion both stepped up on their respective debut efforts when hitting the crossbar last time and rate the main dangers, in that order of preference, while Running Star is another likely improver who could have a role to play.

20:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SEXY REXY returned to winning ways over C&D a couple of weeks ago and the daughter of Saxon Warrior sets the standard off just a 4lb higher mark. Hot Team has made the frame on his last two starts and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Pysanka edges out Smart Charger to be best of the rest.

HOT TEAM has been knocking on the door this season and he could be the answer to an open-looking handicap. An on-song Wilkie would be a threat off this reduced mark, while the consistent Global Tycoon is also shortlisted. Last-time-out-winners Pysanka and Sexy Rexy both merit respect, too.

20:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Chifa has to be of interest following his C&D victory two weeks ago but he is up in grade now and is 3lb higher in the ratings. With that in mind, preference is for LIBERTY MOUNTAIN, who was only beaten a head into second over this track and trip on her penultimate start. Fiscal Policy arrives here on a workable mark and is another to consider.

CHIFA enhanced his excellent course record when scoring with something to spare a fortnight ago and he's well worth a chance to follow up in a race that should be run to suit. Fiscal Policy and Liberty Mountain look the main dangers.
