1st (4) (10/3 +44%)A Great Buzz |
10/3(+44%) | (4) A Great Buzz 10/3, Improved up in trip when 4 1/2l third in a handicap chase at Navan on her latest run; returning from a long layoff; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, suited by cut, and progressing over fences for a stable in form. Trainer has his team in fine shape, should be taken seriously despite lack of a recent run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 +38%)James The Brave |
4/1(+38%) | (1) James The Brave 4/1, Went clear and improved up in trip under an aggressive ride when landing a handicap by a neck off 91 over 2m7f at Killarney last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, acts on heavy and good ground, and remains well treated on his best hurdle form. Made a winning start over fences in a handicap at Killarney, respected off 6lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (11/1 +73%)Plain Or Battered |
11/1(+73%) | (11) Plain Or Battered 11/1, Not a clear run and below form when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Cork most recently; a contender if bouncing back. Uneven form in four starts last season, trainer has a better chance with Duffys Hodey. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (3/1 -9%)Small Town Hero |
3/1(-9%) | (7) Small Town Hero 3/1, Cashed in on a lower chase mark when landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off 77 at Downpatrick last time; enjoys making the running; effective over 3m and acts on yielding and good ground, though this new mark demands much more. Four from four since joining this stable, up 16lb for chase win but may improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/2 +15%)Western Model |
11/2(+15%) | (3) Western Model 11/2, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/2l off 94 at Fairyhouse last time; effective over 3m and acts on yielding and good ground; consistent if occasionally frustrating. Three seconds over fences, good effort at Fairyhouse a month ago, stays well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (11/1 +0%)Hay Baby |
11/1(+0%) | (9) Hay Baby 11/1, Ran to form up in trip when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Limerick last time; consistent over hurdles and not without a chance on chase debut. Point winner, some promise over hurdles but will need to improve to score on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (18) (22/1 +56%)Imbolc |
22/1(+56%) | (18) Imbolc 22/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Wexford latest; returning from a break and remains out of form. Weak form over hurdles, has failed to complete in three starts over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 -80%)Lovely Reaction |
18/1(-80%) | (2) Lovely Reaction 18/1, Ran to form when beaten 2 1/2l off 105 over 2m4f at Cork last time; returning from a long absence and may prefer a slightly stiffer test; has a bit to find. One of three runners in the McManus colours, lengthy layoff to overcome, not badly treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (18/1 +36%)Ask Mike |
18/1(+36%) | (5) Ask Mike 18/1, Not a clear run and made mistakes but still ran to form when comfortably held in a hunter chase over 3m1f at Thurles last time; returning from a long layoff and looks the pick on race times. Point winner, hunter chase form is not very encouraging, others have more obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (25/1 -127%)Fox Le Bel |
25/1(-127%) | (12) Fox Le Bel 25/1, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off 85 over 2m7f at Tipperary last time; returning after a very lengthy absence; consistent but can be frustrating. Very expensive to follow, 0-30 under rules, placed on 13 occasions, lacks a recent run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (17) (28/1 -12%)Captain Kate |
28/1(-12%) | (17) Captain Kate 28/1, Had every chance but failed to build on her debut when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Kilbeggan last time; off a short break and remains inconsistent in a short career. Fair sixth in two chase starts, needs to find extra, only six so improvement is feasible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (33/1 -32%)Mahler Appeal |
33/1(-32%) | (6) Mahler Appeal 33/1, Made mistakes and out of form when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan last time; needs to bounce back. Out of form last season, stays well but not a betting proposition on seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (50/1 +24%)Eddies Pride |
50/1(+24%) | (16) Eddies Pride 50/1, Outpaced and continued in poor form when down the field in a handicap chase over 2m7f at Galway last time; suited by cut but out of form. Two chase wins at a modest level, out of form, tailed off at Galway and Sligo last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (125/1 -56%)Spanish Maid |
125/1(-56%) | (14) Spanish Maid 125/1, Outpaced and needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Navan most recently; usually held up; off a short break and has plenty to find. Weak form over fences, no encouragement from her three most recent starts over hurdles. |

SMALL TOWN HERO can make it five from five since joining trainer Ian Donoghue. A former point-to-point winner, the son of Jet Away has scored three times over hurdles, as well as opening his account over fences last time. Despite a subsequent 16lb rise, the five-year-old remains 7lb below his hurdles mark. Western Model rates the biggest threat having finished runner-up in a stronger contest at Fairyhouse last month. Course winner Duffys Hodey is a definite contender too.

After going close on his seasonal debut last year, DUFFYS HODEY produced sustained improvement. He is potentially very well treated

1st (4) (10/3 -48%)Japetus |
10/3(-48%) | (4) Japetus 10/3, Travelled well and improved to defy a penalty when winning a bumper at Hexham over 2m by 11l last time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground; brings plenty of potential to hurdles. Won his last two bumpers and latest was by 11l at Hexham; respected on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (2/1 +11%)Lock Stock |
2/1(+11%) | (6) Lock Stock 2/1, Improved on bumper form when second, beaten 3 1/4l, in a novice hurdle over 2m at Worcester last time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground; player if building on hurdles debut. Runner-up in two bumpers and was second of 15 on hurdling debut at Worcester; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/8 +53%)Kings Champion |
15/8(+53%) | (5) Kings Champion 15/8, Promising debut for Paul Nicholls when third, beaten 4l, in a bumper over 2m at Ffos Las; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground; needs to improve. Promising third in sole bumper and needs watching in market on hurdling/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/2 -40%)Is This For Real |
7/2(-40%) | (3) Is This For Real 7/2, Raced wide and improved from debut when tried in a tongue-tie, winning a bumper at Kelso over 2m by 3/4l last time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft ground; could figure. Point/bumper winner and he needs a close look on this switch to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (50/1 -25%)Lady Velouette |
50/1(-25%) | (8) Lady Velouette 50/1, Below form when stepped up in trip and didn't jump well late when fourth, beaten 56l, in a novice hurdle over 2m5f here last time; effective at 3m in points and acts on good ground; drop in trip may help. Some promise over C&D in September but was tailed off on her return visit last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (300/1 -275%)Born Like Me |
300/1(-275%) | (2) Born Like Me 300/1, Poor hurdles debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Sedgefield wearing a first-time hood; Flat-bred but yet to show any ability and makes little appeal. Struggled in two Flat runs and same story on hurdling debut at Sedgefield last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (150/1 -127%)Urblereagh |
150/1(-127%) | (7) Urblereagh 150/1, Probably needed the race when tried in a tongue-tie and comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Southwell last time; should be effective at 2m but has a bit to find back from a break. Finished well behind in two maiden hurdles some 714 days apart; can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (66/1 -32%)A Law To Himself |
66/1(-32%) | (1) A Law To Himself 66/1, Poor rules debut when down the field in a novice hurdle over 2m at Stratford most recently; effective at 2m4f in points and acts on good ground; may again find 2m on the sharp side. Third in two points (2m4f) but was tailed off on hurdling debut at Stratford last month. |

Having completed a bumper double at Hexham in April, hurdling debutant Japetus must enter calculations on his return to action. Nicky Richards' charge came home 11 lengths clear of his nearest pursuer that day and isn't taken lightly, but IS THIS FOR REAL is slightly more appealing. The five-year-old scythed his way through the field when landing a class 2 bumper at Kelso 236 days ago and that form could prove stronger. Lock Stock and Kings Champion are others of interest.

Several have possibilities but LOCK STOCK gets the vote after a promising second on his hurdling debut at Worcester last month.

1st (1) (9/1 -300%)Luminous Light |
9/1(-300%) | (1) Luminous Light 9/1, Conceded first run but ran to form when second, beaten 3l in a novice chase over 2m at Tramore last time; off a short break and a consistent performer. Flat/hurdles winner, won a novice handicap chase last season, fair chance in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (8/1 +27%)Glenashling |
8/1(+27%) | (7) Glenashling 8/1, Outclassed in a good race when fourth, beaten 35l, in a beginners' chase over 2m at Wexford last time; effective at 2m, likely to stay further, acts on good ground; debut form franked and could bounce back down in grade. Fair third on chasing debut at Fairyhouse, not as good at Wexford on second attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/8 +75%)Coral River |
11/8(+75%) | (4) Coral River 11/8, Too keen and may have found the ground a bit quick when finishing down the field in a Listed handicap hurdle over 2m6f at Galway; returns from a break with his trainer in form and looks the pick on balance of form with drop in trip on easier ground a plus. Useful hurdler who has a definite chance if taking to chasing on his stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (66/1 -313%)Figurehead |
66/1(-313%) | (6) Figurehead 66/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 8l, in a beginners' chase over 2m2f at Thurles last time; effective between 2m and 2¼m, acts on yielding and good ground; in good form over fences though conditions could be a concern. No wins in a varied 41-race career, has adapted quite well to fences, might win a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -25%)Cappucino |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Cappucino 20/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when well beaten on his chase debut in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse; effective at 2m and acts on any ground but has a bit to prove over fences. Course winner over hurdles, tailed off on chasing debut, needs to provide reassurance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/2 -5%)Leave In Secret |
7/2(-5%) | (9) Leave In Secret 7/2, Improved on hurdle form but just flattened out late when fourth, beaten 5l, in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Wexford; effective from 2m to 2½m, acts on soft and good ground; progressing and unexposed over fences. Winning hurdler on decent ground, showed that he could handle soft on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (4/1 -20%)Dont Tell Jack |
4/1(-20%) | (5) Dont Tell Jack 4/1, Well backed but below form when down the field in the Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final (Listed) over 2m7f at Fairyhouse; wears a hood for the first time and could be a value selection on balance of form with promise of more to come down in trip over fences. Best hurdles run when 15l third to Ethical Diamond at this venue, has joined Enda Bolger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (12/1 +14%)Bridie's Beau |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Bridie's Beau 12/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 2m at Wexford last time; effective at around 2½m on soft ground; may need more time and longer trips over fences. Dual hurdles winner is rated 117 in that sphere, nothing like that form over fences so far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (125/1 -89%)Golden Temple |
125/1(-89%) | (8) Golden Temple 125/1, Made mistakes and never threatened when comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 2m4f at Down Royal last time; does not stay further than 2m4f and is out of form over hurdles and fences. Two hurdle wins on good ground; badly out of form this year, including two chase starts. |

It could pay to take a chance on DONT TELL JACK on his first start for Enda Bolger. A former point-to-point runner-up, the five-year-old shaped with plenty of promise in maiden hurdles against some of the better novices last season. Although very disappointing when sent off a short price for a Listed handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on his final start of the campaign, that was almost certainly not his true running. He wouldn't be the first horse to recapture his best following a switch to the County Limerick trainer. Already a winner over fences, Luminous Light has to be respected, along with Coral River.

It may be worth taking a chance with CORAL RIVER who ran well in a competitive hurdle race here at last season's festival

1st (3) (8/15 +67%)Moon Over America |
8/15(+67%) | (3) Moon Over America 8/15, Showed promise when racing wide and finishing second, beaten 1 1/2l, in a 2m bumper at Ffos Las last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft; brings plenty of potential to hurdles. Irish point winner; runner-up in Ffos Las bumper; open to progress; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/4 +7%)Kefir D'oudairies |
7/4(+7%) | (2) Kefir D'oudairies 7/4, Probably needed the run when below bumper level and comfortably held in a 2m maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. In good form prior, effective at 2m, acts on good ground, and open to improvement. Bumper winner; hurdles debut effort suggests this longer distance will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (125/1 -89%)Donttellyamumjack |
125/1(-89%) | (7) Donttellyamumjack 125/1, Outpaced and below form up in grade when down the field in a 2m1f novice hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut; has plenty to prove. Weak claims on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (22/1 +21%)Castanea Breeze |
22/1(+21%) | (1) Castanea Breeze 22/1, Had plenty to do and again ran below bumper level when fourth, beaten 28l, in a maiden hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft but was well held over this C&D on his previous two starts. Soundly beaten, having lacked fluency, in two C&D maidens in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (25/1 -108%)Wings On Wheels |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Wings On Wheels 25/1, Pulled up in a 3m maiden at Ballindenisk last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 3m and acts on yielding ground; looks up against it on rules debut. Absent since runner-up in Irish point in January 2024; market helpful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (6/1 -100%)White Riot |
6/1(-100%) | (5) White Riot 6/1, Ran below bumper form and did plenty early when 18l third in a 2m novice hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground; bumper form has taken some knocks. Progressive in bumpers; modest third on hurdles debut but may do better still. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (300/1 -275%)Walk The Plank |
300/1(-275%) | (4) Walk The Plank 300/1, Made mistakes and still looked green when continuing in poor form, finishing fourth and beaten 31l in a 2m4f novice hurdle at Fakenham last time. May do better once handicapping at a low level. Sticks to difficult terms rather than switching to a handicap. |

KEFIR D'OUDAIRIES shaped as if in need of a stronger test when posting a fifth-placed hurdle/seasonal bow over 2m at Uttoxeter last month and this extended 2m4f distance looks ideal. The five-year-old should have better days ahead of him and this looks a suitable opportunity for a first victory over timber. The biggest threat may emerge from Moon Over America, who was last seen finishing a good second to the selection's stablemate in a Ffos Las bumper. White Riot may fare best of the remainder.

Preference is for interesting hurdles debutant MOON OVER AMERICA, ahead of Kefir d'Oudairies and White Riot.

10/3(-21%) | (6) Tanking Along 10/3, Back to form in a new headgear combination when beaten 3/4l off 85 over 2m at Perth last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and handles soft or good ground; respected despite a 2lb rise. Back over hurdles after a break when second at Perth (2m, soft) last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (6/4 +63%)National Question |
6/4(+63%) | (11) National Question 6/4, Recorded his best run in almost a year when winning a Newcastle handicap by 2l off 73 last time; best around 2m on good ground and respected despite a 4lb rise. Reappeared with comfortable win at Newcastle (2m1f, good) last month; respected up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (10/1 -11%)Sassified |
10/1(-11%) | (7) Sassified 10/1, Stopped quickly on first Flat start in four years when down the field over 12f at Southwell last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft or good; needs more in reapplied blinkers. Hasn't been with James Owen for long but he needs a major revival back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/1 -69%)Clean Getaway |
11/1(-69%) | (3) Clean Getaway 11/1, Below form when second, beaten 39l, in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Fakenham last time; better suited by 2m on good ground and goes well at this course. His last four wins have been at Sedgefield and was close second over C&D two runs back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (33/1 -106%)Expelliarmus |
33/1(-106%) | (1) Expelliarmus 33/1, Travelled well but found little when not given a hard race in a Cartmel handicap hurdle last time; effective at 2m on soft ground and has a bigger effort in him. Record of 0-11 and down the field in two handicap hurdles for current yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (11/2 +61%)Ascension Day |
11/2(+61%) | (10) Ascension Day 11/2, Produced another poor effort when comfortably held in a Newcastle handicap hurdle last time; effective at 2m on good to soft or good ground but hard to fancy on current form despite a reapplied tongue-tie. Longstanding maiden who is 0-14 over hurdles and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (25/1 -14%)Dudley's Bar |
25/1(-14%) | (4) Dudley's Bar 25/1, Needed the run but shaped well for a long way when fourth, beaten 11l, in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective at 2m and handles cut; should come on for the outing. Back from long absence with fair run on handicap hurdle debut last week; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (11/1 +21%)Joto |
11/1(+21%) | (8) Joto 11/1, Had too much to do but still ran to form when 14l third in a Carlisle handicap hurdle last time; tongue-tie fitted for the first time; effective at 2m on good to soft ground and open to improvement. Lightly raced 5yo but she needs to raise her game on return for new trainer; tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (50/1 +0%)Berry Edge |
50/1(+0%) | (5) Berry Edge 50/1, Slowly away but ran to form when beaten 4l off 62 over 9f at Carlisle last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft or good; plenty to find now back hurdling. Triple Flat winner but he needs improvement to make an impact on handicap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (14/1 -27%)Bodygroove |
14/1(-27%) | (2) Bodygroove 14/1, Ran to his recent level in first-time cheekpieces when beaten 4 1/4l in a 2m handicap at Catterick last time; effective around 2m on heavy or good ground and fit from the Flat. Flat and hurdle winner; on workable mark back in this sphere and could go well. |

Having scored at Newcastle recently, National Question warrants respect in his follow-up bid. However, the five-year-old is effectively 9lb higher without Charlie Maggs' claim, so TANKING ALONG may prove to be better treated. A 2lb nudge up the ratings for his close-up second at Perth looks workable and he can go one better. Market support for the returning Away She Goes would bring her into the reckoning.

Preference is for TANKING ALONG (nap), who returned to hurdling after a break with a close second at Perth last month.

25/1(+24%) | (3) Copper Rocker 25/1, Kew Gardens filly; half-sister to Fortune The Brave, moderate at 23f; probably needs the experience. Closely related to bumper winner Fortune The Brave; dam half-sister to two winners. |

|F| (15) (28/1 -75%)Wispit Twob |
28/1(-75%) | (15) Wispit Twob 28/1, 15,000 euros Blue Bresil filly; could contend. Blue Bresil filly cost 15,000euros; dam out of unraced half-sister to high-class Behrajan. |

80/1(-21%) | (12) Powerful Rosie 80/1, Found little when well beaten on poor hurdle debut in a juvenile hurdle over 2m1f at Cork on only start; looks one for further down the line. Finished well behind Infinity Succes at Cork on debut last month; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (66/1 -32%)Miss Willow Grey |
66/1(-32%) | (10) Miss Willow Grey 66/1, Leading Light filly; half-sister to Mr Palm, fair at 21f; could contend. Half-sister to point/3m hurdle winner Midnight Moonshine; others more likely. |

|PU| (4) (40/1 +0%)Eitilt |
40/1(+0%) | (4) Eitilt 40/1, 1,500 euros Hunting Horn filly; half-sister to Hiway One O Three, fair from 19f to 26f; probably needs the experience. Cheap purchase at 1,500euros; half-sister to 2m3f-2m5f hurdle/chase winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (125/1 -346%)Pennies In A Well |
125/1(-346%) | (11) Pennies In A Well 125/1, Ribchester filly; dam was useful at 10f; may just need this initial experience. Dam French 8.5f AW winner but might not appreciate this ground. |

Sent off favourite when sixth in a similar race at Cork last month, INFINITY SUCCES can recover losses. Having shown promise before running green in the latter stages of that contest, it is interesting that trainer Declan Queally has elected to fit the daughter of Latrobe with first-time blinkers here. If that headgear works the oracle, it would be no surprise to see the filly win a race like this. A half-sister to black-type horses both on the Flat and over hurdles, newcomer Ritz Plan looks a filly to note. It will be interesting to see if there is any market support, while Highland Crystal is another debutant to consider.

HIGHLAND CRYSTAL could be the answer. Her dam is a half-sister to Envoi Allen and she might be good enough on her debut

1st (6) (11/10 -32%)Roe And Co |
11/10(-32%) | (6) Roe And Co 11/10, Won cosily, improving for debut experience under an aggressive ride when landing a handicap by 7l off a mark of 94 at Chepstow last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good ground. Progressing over fences. Avoids a penalty for Chepstow success; due to go up 6lb in future; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/2 +45%)Paddy O'mahler |
11/2(+45%) | (4) Paddy O'mahler 11/2, Had every chance when comfortably held in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Previously in good form and returns after a wind operation. Effective at 3m and acts on soft ground. Could do better now chasing. Hurdles winner; pedigree suggests he'll be as effective over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 +0%)Isle Of Sark |
8/1(+0%) | (1) Isle Of Sark 8/1, Won by 5 1/2l off a mark of 107 over 2m4f at Sedgefield three starts ago. Ran below hurdles level back chasing last time. Effective from 2m4f to 2m7f and acts on soft and good to firm ground. Needs more but return to further may suit. Successful over hurdles for new yard; modest fourth back over fences last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (7/1 +30%)Klapton Boy |
7/1(+30%) | (5) Klapton Boy 7/1, Far too keen on handicap debut when comfortably held in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time. Effective at 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. Possible improver now chasing. Looks well treated on Irish point effort and best hurdles effort; interesting. |

ROE AND CO landed a breakthrough victory at Chepstow recently in good style and he should take all of the beating off the same mark. Jamie Snowden's inmate is 6lb well-in on the back of that success in a conditional jockeys' race and is likely to prove a warm order. Gold Emery ended last season with a respectable second at Uttoxeter and is worth a second look. The nine-year-old may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Isle Of Sark.

Roe And Co has a good chance if he takes to cheekpieces. Chase debutant KLAPTON BOY looks attractively handicapped, though.

1st (4) (9/4 +10%)Stardrop |
9/4(+10%) | (4) Stardrop 9/4, Ran a bit below form and was again too keen in a reapplied tongue-tie when comfortably held in a 2m maiden hurdle at Warwick last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; needs to settle and jump better. Not progressing over hurdles but Flat form gives him a big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 +61%)Lights Go Down |
11/4(+61%) | (2) Lights Go Down 11/4, Ran to form tried in cheekpieces when fourth, beaten 6 1/4l, in a 12f handicap at Catterick last time; should stay 2m over hurdles and acts on good to soft or good ground; not ruled out on hurdles debut. Best form on Flat when runner-up in two Class 6 handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 +0%)Toby Two Scoops |
12/1(+0%) | (6) Toby Two Scoops 12/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when a modest 12l third in a juvenile hurdle over 2m at Wetherby last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft or good ground; further improvement required. Needs improvement on this second attempt over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/4 +77%)Genbu |
6/4(+77%) | (1) Genbu 6/4, Made mistakes and was outclassed when pulled up in the Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle (Listed) over 2m at Wetherby last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; hurdles win was fortunate and he looks vulnerable under a penalty. Fairly exposed and was a fortuitous winner on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (20/1 -82%)That Lucas Fella |
20/1(-82%) | (5) That Lucas Fella 20/1, Well backed but slightly below his best when fourth, beaten 2l, in a 10f handicap at Newcastle last time when tried in blinkers; stamina for 2m not assured and he has something to prove. Modest maiden on Flat. |

LUNAR ORBIT returned to form with a respectable third at Fontwell and a subsequent wind procedure could prove fruitful. Warren Greatrex's juvenile finished a good second on his hurdles bow over C&D in September and a repeat of that performance may prove sufficient. Stardrop arrives on the back of a below-par sixth at Warwick, but would prove a live threat if back to his best. Genbu completes the shortlist.

Judged on a combination of Flat and hurdles form, the strongest contenders are LUNAR ORBIT and Stardrop.

40/1(-233%) | (5) Sopelana 40/1, Outclassed when fourth, beaten 36l, in a juvenile hurdle over 2m1f at Down Royal last time. Effective over 2m on soft and good ground. A hurdles winner but has shown little on the Flat. Won on soft at Ballinrobe in September; poor in two starts since but should enjoy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (15/2 +6%)I'll Be Handy |
15/2(+6%) | (3) I'll Be Handy 15/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 4 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse, appreciating a more positive ride. Trainer in good form. Effective at 2m and acts on any ground. Progressing and remains competitive. Runner-up in 3yo maiden at Fairyhouse (2m, soft to heavy) nine days ago; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/4 +55%)Mode Avion |
5/4(+55%) | (4) Mode Avion 5/4, Made a promising debut with a 2l win in a juvenile bumper over 12f at Le Lion-D'Angers. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time and should be thereabouts on hurdle/stable debut. Won 1m4f newcomers AQPS Flat race; reportedly schooling well at home; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (2/1 -150%)In My Teens |
2/1(-150%) | (7) In My Teens 2/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 1/2l, in a handicap over 10f at The Curragh last time. Flat winner proved useful in that sphere and has leading claims for top connections on hurdling debut. Rated 98 on the Flat, has to be high on the shortlist on hurdles bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 +40%)In The Minus |
9/2(+40%) | (1) In The Minus 9/2, Improved for a ready win when landing a maiden hurdle at Galway by 5l last time. Effective over 2m and handles soft and good ground. Progressing but will need more to defy the penalty. Galway winner on latest; penalty to carry in deeper race and would prefer better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (200/1 -60%)Ahellofaman |
200/1(-60%) | (2) Ahellofaman 200/1, Found little after briefly threatening when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Best watched for now over hurdles. Well related but never a factor in a bumper and hurdle to date; unlikely winner. |

A 98-rated filly on the Flat, IN MY TEENS looks an exciting recruit to jumping. A maiden winner on the level at Down Royal in June, the Gavin Cromwell-trained daughter of Camelot was subsequently runner-up in two above-average contests. Connections have wasted little time in making the switch to hurdling, something that suggests the filly may well have impressed in her schooling. French bumper winner Mode Avion is the obvious alternative. While the form of that race has yet to be tested, the Taj Mahal gelding could do no more than win and is in the right hands to progress. In The Minus carries a penalty for his Galway success but is still a major contender.

Gordon Eliott's MODE AVION is reportedly schooling well at home and the French AQPS Flat winner could be tough to beat on his Irish bow

9/4(-13%) | (3) Pescatorius 9/4, Ran to form when winning a handicap by 1l off 81 over 3m2f at Sedgefield last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m2f and a consistent type. Beat a clear second at Sedgefield (3m2f) last month; big player again back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (6/4 +67%)Mr Mahler |
6/4(+67%) | (6) Mr Mahler 6/4, Had every chance and ran to form but lacked the speed of the principals when fourth, beaten 11l in a 2m1f handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee. Effective from 2m to 2m4f, may stay 3m, acts on good to soft and good ground, and likely to improve back up in trip. 0-13 but has fared respectably in four handicap chases; dangerous if he can pull out more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/1 +17%)Valence D'aumont |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Valence D'aumont 10/1, Well below form when down the field in a 2m4f handicap chase at Uttoxeter, likely needed the run. Effective around 2m4f, acts on soft and good ground, and entitled to improve. Ended long losing run at Catterick in January but well held in three subsequent runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (16/1 -60%)Ultra Viers |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Ultra Viers 16/1, Had every chance in reapplied cheekpieces when fourth, beaten 6l in a 2m3f handicap chase at Fontwell last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m2f, acts on heavy and good ground, and a consistent performer. 0-20 under rules but wasn't beaten far at Fontwell in final run in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (9/2 -29%)I Am Rocco |
9/2(-29%) | (1) I Am Rocco 9/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 6l in a handicap chase over 2m3f here last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m, acts on soft and good ground. A small step back up in trip may help. Overall record of 0-26 but he's been placed in all four runs for current yard; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (14/1 -40%)Wednesday Addams |
14/1(-40%) | (2) Wednesday Addams 14/1, Below form when down the field in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Perth, the ground perhaps not soft enough. Effective around 2m4f, acts on heavy and good to soft ground, and could improve now chasing. Tailed off in both her handicaps and has plenty to prove after 204 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (22/1 -238%)Caro Des Flos |
22/1(-238%) | (5) Caro Des Flos 22/1, Loves the track and built on a recent revival when winning a handicap by 1 1/4l off 78 over 2m3f here last time. Effective around 2m4f, acts on soft and good ground, and respected after a small rise. Ended last year with a win at this track; up 3lb but he's not ruled out on his comeback. |

On the back of improved form, the recent Sedgefield winner PESCATORIUS looks the safest option with further progression possible. Dropping back down in trip shouldn't be too much of an issue for the Olly Murphy-trained six-year-old, for whom a 7lb rise looks a fair assessment. The veteran Caro Des Flos commands respect despite not being seen since winning over 2m3f here last December, while I Am Rocco and Mr Mahler are others to consider.

Top of the list is the versatile PESCATORIUS, who won at Sedgefield last month and could be a major force again back in trip.

3/1(-20%) | (7) Formel Park 3/1, Looked the likely winner in first-time cheekpieces when falling in a handicap chase at Ludlow recently. Effective around 2m and acts on good ground; should go well if none the worse for that fall. Looked the likely winner when falling two out at Ludlow last week on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (16/1 +43%)Blended Stealth |
16/1(+43%) | (6) Blended Stealth 16/1, Disappointing when stepped back up in trip and comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Kelso last time. Blinkers fitted for the first time; effective around 2m on good ground but has something to find. Enough to prove back over fences; new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (14/1 -155%)Belle Montrose |
14/1(-155%) | (1) Belle Montrose 14/1, Scored by 10l off 88 at Fakenham on her penultimate start but was below form and quickly beaten after a mistake when fourth, beaten 70l off 97 last time. Cheekpieces tried for the first time; effective at 2m on good ground and had been progressive over fences before that run. Chase record is 2-4; ran badly last time; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/2 +30%)Conquer The Breeze |
7/2(+30%) | (3) Conquer The Breeze 7/2, Below form and may have needed the run when fourth, beaten 26l in a handicap chase at Hexham last time. Effective at 2m on good ground and should come on for that return effort. Modest fourth last week on return from break; consistent otherwise this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) (10/11 +77%)Platenium |
10/11(+77%) | (4) Platenium 10/11, Showed small improvement back hurdling when third, beaten 2l off 84 last time. Effective at 2m and suited by a sound surface; in good form and can progress further if tidying up his jumping. May remain competitive, provided he jumps with more fluency than in sole chase attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (28/1 +0%)Belle Na Bann |
28/1(+0%) | (5) Belle Na Bann 28/1, Needed the run when stepped up in trip and didn't stay when well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f here last time. Effective around 2m and acts on heavy ground; probably up against it on chase debut. Chance depends on whether the switch to fences has a reviving effect. |

In what turned out to be an eventful contest at Ludlow, FORMEL PARK looked to hold every chance when falling at the second-last. The five-year-old appeared to be relishing the larger obstacles until that mishap and a breakthrough victory may be on the cards. Platenium in open to improvement now returning to fences and, off a lower chase mark, must enter calculations. Independent Jimmy isn't easily dismissed either.

Barring mishap, FORMEL PARK may atone for the late exit that prevented a likely success at Ludlow.

25/1(-25%) | (3) Can Happen 25/1, Outpaced and below debut form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last time; acts with cut and may need further than 2m to be seen to best effect. Has shown enough promise to suggest he can win a race but faces a stiff task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (17) (22/1 -83%)Fedneys Park |
22/1(-83%) | (17) Fedneys Park 22/1, The yard has won two of the last eight renewals of this race; outpaced but rallied for a promising hurdle debut when third, beaten 27l, in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; should improve with experience and likely to get further in time. Point winner, remote third on hurdling debut, Darragh O'Keeffe prefers Splendid Fellow. |

80/1(+0%) | (6) Daymer Bay 80/1, Ran to current form when third, beaten 5 1/2l, in a handicap over 12f at Galway last time; wears a hood for the first time and comes from a yard in form but faces a tough task. 25-race maiden on Flat, placed five times, has a basement rating, no hurdling experience. |

80/1(-60%) | (10) Lunar Landscape 80/1, Outclassed when stepped up in grade and not suited by the ground when finishing down the field in a 10f handicap at The Curragh last time; faces a stiff task. Placed six times on the Flat, never threatened on only juvenile hurdles start in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (150/1 +0%)Ardgillan |
150/1(+0%) | (1) Ardgillan 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park last time; yet to show much under rules. Nothing in two bumper runs or a first hurdles run to suggest he can play a featuring part. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (16) (66/1 -65%)Cool Summer |
66/1(-65%) | (16) Cool Summer 66/1, Failed to build on hurdles debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Thurles last time; effective over 2m on decent ground but looks up against it. Placed on the first of two maiden hurdles outings, hard to fancy in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (11) (66/1 0%)Simpson's Paradox |
66/1(0%) | (11) Simpson's Paradox 66/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l in a handicap over 8f at Gowran Park last time; effective at 1m and suited by cut but currently out of form in both codes. Flat winner regressive in 2024, well beaten in two races over hurdles, fair recent run. |

16th (22) (125/1 -89%)The Cobblers Wife |
125/1(-89%) | (22) The Cobblers Wife 125/1, Affinisea mare; best watched for small yard. Second foal; dam unplaced in point/2m hurdle, closely related to bumper winner O'Sogood. |

19th (2) (125/1 -25%)Call Me Flash |
125/1(-25%) | (2) Call Me Flash 125/1, Imperial Monarch gelding; the yard has yet to record a winner this year and he is best watched. First foal, dam unplaced, sister to a point winner, not one of the more obvious contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20th (13) (100/1 -150%)Tarquin The Proud |
100/1(-150%) | (13) Tarquin The Proud 100/1, Shantaram gelding; half-brother to Carlo Du Berlais, a moderate performer at 23f. Half-brother to 3m chase winner Carlo Du Berlais, unraced dam, likely to need experience. |

Dual bumper winner COLCANNON looks the horse to beat on his hurdling debut. A Grade 2 winner at Leopardstown in February, the Noel Meade-trained gelding ended his campaign with a highly creditable third in the Grade 1 bumper at the Festival here. A horse who has run well fresh in the past, he is sure to be well schooled. Koktail Brut, who was fourth behind the selection in the aforementioned Leopardstown bumper, looks the danger. A point-to-point winner, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding has already proven he can jump. Limerick fourth Splendid Fellow is a dark horse who shouldn't be discounted, despite taking on a couple of smart rivals.

Two good bumper horses clash. COLCANNON, third in the Grade 1 bumper at this venue, can confirm Leopardstown form with Koktail Brut

2/1(+27%) | (1) Nazare 2/1, Again below bumper level when fourth, beaten 11l in a maiden hurdle over 2m3f at Fontwell last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good to soft; likely improver now handicapping. Bumper winner who showed clear promise on both hurdle starts; makes handicap debut today. |

2nd (7) (5/2 +84%)Walk In The Valley |
5/2(+84%) | (7) Walk In The Valley 5/2, Below form, still green and made mistakes when beaten 8l in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Newcastle last time; effective around 2m and acts on soft ground; bit to prove back from a break. Not beaten far in three handicaps in January/February but this is his first run since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/2 -88%)Heart Over Head |
15/2(-88%) | (5) Heart Over Head 15/2, Made no impact from off the pace when well beaten in a novice hurdle over 2m at Stratford last time; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; more chance now handicapping for a yard with a strong recent record in this race. Showed only minor promise in 2m qualifying races; this stiffer test may unlock improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 -33%)Bitsnbuckles |
4/1(-33%) | (2) Bitsnbuckles 4/1, Ran to form when appreciating the step up in trip, beaten a neck off 102 at Wetherby last time; effective from 2m2f to 2m5f and acts on good ground; yard won this last year and he's considered if ready to roll. Absent since going close just over a year ago but has obvious claims if fully tuned up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (17/2 +29%)Bannister |
17/2(+29%) | (4) Bannister 17/2, Too keen when stepped up in trip and failed to stay, beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time; usually held up; effective around 2m3f and acts on good ground; needs more. Second here in September but this steadily regressive 8yo would appeal more on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (12/1 -50%)Warner's Cross |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Warner's Cross 12/1, Ran to form, promising chase debut when second beaten 4 1/2l in a handicap chase here latest; effective around 2m4f, acts on G; capable off this mark back hurdling but has big absence to overcome. C&D winner in June 2024 but entitled to need this first run for 453 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (18/1 -13%)Times A Wastin |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Times A Wastin 18/1, Did plenty early and stopped quickly when well beaten in a novice hurdle over 2m at Uttoxeter last time; effective from 2m to 3m; showed useful form in Ireland but yet to fire for his new yard, which has a good record in this race. Disappointed on second stable run but no surprise if he comes good for Fergal O'Brien soon. |

BITSNBUCKLES resumes from a break on a workable mark and looks a key player with Sean Bowen in the saddle. The partnership was narrowly touched off in a stronger race at Wetherby when last seen and, in representing the in-form Olly Murphy yard, this still low-mileage seven-year-old could be well placed to get his new campaign off to a flyer. Nazare also has plenty of scope for improvement and warrants close inspection on just his third start over hurdles. Matoury is another to consider.

Handicap debutant NAZARE looked promising in bumpers last season and made a very encouraging reappearance three weeks ago.

13/8(+46%) | (3) La Zoubida 13/8, Ran to form but outclassed up in grade when down the field in Nickel Coin Mares' NH Flat Race (Grade 2) over 2m1f at Aintree most recent; effective at 2m, acts on GS; promising hurdles debutante. Bumper winner and midfield in a Grade 2 at Aintree last time; promising recruit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (10/1 -43%)Girl Of Gold |
10/1(-43%) | (9) Girl Of Gold 10/1, Made a promising start over hurdles when second, beaten 4 1/2l in a maiden hurdle over 2m5f at Warwick last time; effective at 2m5f on good ground and likely to improve. Limited Flat maiden; 0-3 in bumpers; questionable what she achieved on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (85/40 +47%)Roses All The Way |
85/40(+47%) | (4) Roses All The Way 85/40, Outclassed when down the field in Nickel Coin Mares' NH Flat Race (Grade 2) over 2m1f at Aintree most recent; effective at 2m, acts on S, G; brings plenty of potential to hurdles. Placed in three bumpers before finishing just behind La Zoubida in an Aintree Grade 2. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (16/1 -129%)A Chara |
16/1(-129%) | (6) A Chara 16/1, Improved to get off the mark when winning a maiden at Monksgrange over 3m by 4 1/2l last time; effective at 3m on yielding to soft ground and joins a good yard ahead of this rules debut. Bought for £70,000 after winning an Irish point (yielding to soft) by 4.5l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (16/1 +11%)Dilly's Gunner |
16/1(+11%) | (8) Dilly's Gunner 16/1, Below debut level when beaten 9l in a 4yo bumper over 2m at Catterick last time; effective at 2m on soft ground and may benefit from this experience. Others achieved more in the bumper scene and this filly is probably best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (25/1 -79%)Beep Beep Becky |
25/1(-79%) | (7) Beep Beep Becky 25/1, Runner-up in a maiden point-to-point at Ballyragget on debut; effective at 3m on good to yielding ground and now joins a good yard ahead of this rules debut. Ran second in a 3m Irish point in March and the 5l winner is now with the Skeltons. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (50/1 -257%)Tantivy Vavoom |
50/1(-257%) | (5) Tantivy Vavoom 50/1, Below form when pulled up over 3m at Ballindenisk last time; effective at 3m on good ground and should do well now switching to hurdles. Dead-heated in an Irish point in April then pulled up the following month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/3 -33%)Blue Topaz |
10/3(-33%) | (2) Blue Topaz 10/3, Improved to win a bumper here over 2m1f by 4 1/4l after a wind operation last time; effective around 2m on good ground and may hold a fitness advantage over main rivals. Workmanlike winner of a bumper here; should have every chance on this hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (40/1 -21%)A Pleasant Suprise |
40/1(-21%) | (1) A Pleasant Suprise 40/1, Below form when well beaten over 3m at Bandon last time; effective at 3m and handles yielding to soft ground, though others appear more likely. Only 1-7 in Irish points and balance of her form looks fairly ordinary; others preferred. |

Girl Of Gold produced a better effort to take the silver medal home at Warwick and is noted, but BLUE TOPAZ struck on her second bumper start at this venue last month and now makes her first appearance over timber. This looks a good opportunity and Fergal O'Brien's mare could be the one to beat. Beep Beep Becky finished second between the flags in Ireland and needs to be monitored in the market.

Course bumper winner BLUE TOPAZ might be the answer with the benefit of a recent run under her belt.

1st (1) (10/11 +44%)Powerful |
10/11(+44%) | (1) Powerful 10/11, Ran to form when just flattening out late after a break, finishing a 10l third in a maiden hurdle at Navan on his latest start. Off a short break again; effective over 2m with cut, and his opening mark looks lenient. Narrow defeat at Kilbeggan; third at Navan in September; should offer more handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (12/1 -20%)Zuzukel |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Zuzukel 12/1, Ran to form when beaten 6l in a 10f handicap at The Curragh on his latest outing. Has a bit to find back over hurdles. Never figured in 6 starts over hurdles but good efforts on the Flat of late; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 -45%)Dont Go Yet |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Dont Go Yet 4/1, Ran to form appreciating the drop in trip when beaten 2 1/4l off 122 here last time. Thrown in on chase form and likely to have a bit more to come in this discipline. 19lb lower mark back over hurdles; major player if primed after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 +32%)Space Warrior |
15/2(+32%) | (5) Space Warrior 15/2, Had no obvious excuse when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Cork last time. Blinkers go on for the first time; effective over 2m on good or soft ground but currently out of form. Midfield here last month but disappointing at Cork 11 days ago; blinkers now reached for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 +66%)Marelly |
11/2(+66%) | (6) Marelly 11/2, Found little when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Wexford most recently. Effective over 2m and needs some give; inconsistent but the handicapper has eased his mark, and easier ground will suit. Good penultimate run at Galway; best form in the mud; Tiernan Power Roche is back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 -233%)Felicity Smoak |
25/1(-233%) | (8) Felicity Smoak 25/1, Raced freely and did too much too soon when beaten 8l in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time. Effective over 2m and acts on good ground; opening mark looks fair though conditions may be a concern. 7th in Cork maiden 4 weeks ago; market will reveal expectations on handicap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 -25%)Speakasyoufind |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Speakasyoufind 25/1, Outpaced and in need of a stiffer test when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Galway latest. Usually held up; effective from 2m to 2 1/4m and could improve when returned to a longer trip. In rear and never a factor on handicap debut at Galway last month; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (25/1 -257%)Gone For Tea |
25/1(-257%) | (2) Gone For Tea 25/1, Well held up in grade and on a stiff mark when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Galway last time. Returns from a long absence and has something to prove. Off the track 470 days; first run for new yard; wants better ground; opposable. |

Although clearly a better chaser, DONT GO YET is difficult to ignore off this mark. Rated 19lb lower over flights, the Edward Cawley-trained veteran has twice finished runner-up in this code and almost certainly has a race in him. Last seen when taking minor honours in a Listed handicap chase at the Festival here in May, the 11-year-old is worth chancing. Zuzukel has yet to reach the frame in 12 starts, but gives the impression that he is capable of better. A strong traveller who doesn't always find as much as expected, he is likely to be held up for a late run. Gone For Tea has to be respected on stable debut.

A few here with ground concerns but no such worries for MARELLY, who thrives in the mud and can finally get back to the winner's circle

1st (3) (9/2 +44%)Seahouses |
9/2(+44%) | (3) Seahouses 9/2, Ran to form and may have needed the run when 11l third in a handicap hurdle here most recently; effective around 2m4f and handles good to soft and good ground; should take a step forward. Ran well over C&D on seasonal debut but may not want ground slower than good to soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/2 -57%)You Did |
11/2(-57%) | (4) You Did 11/2, Outpaced but improved up in trip when landing a handicap by 1/2l off 83 over 2m4f at Hexham last time; effective at 2m4f and handles good ground; on the up. Battled gamely to win at Hexham (2m4f) last month and can improve again over this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/8 +59%)Sandscape |
13/8(+59%) | (1) Sandscape 13/8, Ran to form when finishing second, beaten 6l, in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective from 2m4f to 2m7f and handles good ground; could still have a bigger effort to come. Clear second to revitalised subsequent winner when upped to 2m7f here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (13/2 -44%)Belladinotte |
13/2(-44%) | (6) Belladinotte 13/2, Had too much to do down in trip after conceding first run when second, beaten 6 1/2l, in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time; effective at 3m and suited by good ground; running into form. Second twice on good ground last month but today's slower conditions are a big worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (7/2 -75%)Queen Of Steel |
7/2(-75%) | (5) Queen Of Steel 7/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 5l, in a 2m1f handicap at Pontefract last time; returns from a short break; effective from 2m4f to 3m over hurdles; more to offer back hurdling. Very progressive over hurdles and on Flat for new stable this year; must have good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (16/1 +20%)Annies Gold |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Annies Gold 16/1, Improved up in trip but still a touch green under pressure when 26l third in a novice hurdle over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee last time; effective up to 2m4f and acts on good to soft; has a small chance. Showed only minor promise in her qualifying races; up in trip for seasonal/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (28/1 +0%)Fine By Her |
28/1(+0%) | (2) Fine By Her 28/1, Made too much use of the pace and ran below form when pulled up in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Taunton last time; effective around 2m4f on good ground; faces a tough task after a year off. Absent since running poorly last November and would appeal more on better ground. |

Queen Of Steel completed a double when last seen in this sphere at Wetherby in March and followed that up with a hat-trick on the Flat, so she is one to keep an eye on. However, SANDSCAPE had Seahouses five lengths behind when finishing second over C&D last month and is expected to confirm that form. This is just his fifth start in a handicap and he looks the way to go. Belladinotte completes the shortlist.

It's hard to see beyond QUEEN OF STEEL (nap), who has continued in excellent form on the Flat since her two hurdling wins in March.

1st (3) (5/4 +55%)Upfordebate |
5/4(+55%) | (3) Upfordebate 5/4, Below form off a revised mark when pulled up in a handicap chase last time, the race possibly coming too soon; suited by 3m on good ground and could be competitive if bouncing back. He's been good or bad in four runs over fences; fair mark if he's on his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +10%)Emotional Roller |
3/1(+10%) | (5) Emotional Roller 3/1, Well backed, bit below form tried in cheekpieces up in grade when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m1f at Carlisle last time; effective up to 3m1f, acts on S, GS; should come on for return run. Can be a hard ride and take some driving, but possibilities if returning in good order. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/3 +44%)Halfway House Lad |
10/3(+44%) | (6) Halfway House Lad 10/3, Ran to form when fourth beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap chase over 3m at Ayr last time; effective at 3m and acts on soft and good ground; inconsistent but mark remains fair. Probably gave his running last time at Ayr (3m, soft) but trailed the winner by about 8l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (28/1 -12%)West Lawn |
28/1(-12%) | (7) West Lawn 28/1, Never jumped or travelled when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m7f at Kelso last time; effective around 3m and acts on soft and good ground; up against it on recent evidence. Dual hurdle winner but 0-14 as a chaser and recent efforts were none too encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 -125%)Ballylinch |
9/1(-125%) | (4) Ballylinch 9/1, Below form when fourth beaten 68l in a handicap chase here last time, tried in a tongue-tie after a lengthy absence; effective up to 3m and acts on good ground; should come on for the run. Capable but he ran a laboured race over C&D last month after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (15/2 +17%)Cooper's Cross |
15/2(+17%) | (1) Cooper's Cross 15/2, Needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Kelso last time; effective at 3m and acts on good ground; regressive. Little to shout about for a while now and reservations despite this drop in grade. |

Upfordebate failed to complete the hat-trick when pulled up at Hexham last month, but it wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he could bounce back. Even so, SKYHILL looks the way to go. Alison Hamilton's veteran is a three-time course winner, including in this race back in 2019. He performs well fresh and can make a successful return to action off a workable rating. Ballylinch is another to watch out for.

It's been all or nothing so far over fences with UPFORDEBATE but he's a strong contender off this mark if able to show his form.

4/6(+62%) | (2) Yeshil 4/6, Green and made mistakes when needing the run on hurdle debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Leopardstown last time; returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m; bumper form looks strong and there should be more to come over hurdles. Fine second in the 2024 Goffs Defender Bumper, ran in a good maiden last Christmas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 -200%)Vitorio Piel |
5/2(-200%) | (1) Vitorio Piel 5/2, Below form on hurdle debut, set it up for a closer when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m here last time; effective at 2m; bumper form has been franked and there should be more to come over hurdles. Course winner of a 20-runner bumper, excuse offered for odds-on defeat on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 +29%)Jonny Carrol |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Jonny Carrol 10/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Tipperary last time; effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on good ground; from a good yard but past form has had knocks, so a bit more is needed back from a break. Needs to raise his game to win a maiden judged on displays at Limerick and Tipperary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/1 -11%)Eagle's Quest |
10/1(-11%) | (5) Eagle's Quest 10/1, Modest flat debut, down the field in a maiden over 12f at The Curragh most recently; consistent in bumpers and a value selection based on the balance of form. Fair form in bumpers, not a bad run in midfield in a recent 1m4f Curragh maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (300/1 -200%)Kofino |
300/1(-200%) | (3) Kofino 300/1, Poor debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Clonmel last time; yet to show any ability in points or under rules. Pulled up in two points, soundly beaten in a bumper and a maiden hurdle in April. |

With a valid excuse for his odds-on defeat here on his hurdling debut, VITORIO PIEL can make amends. A bumper winner at this track on his introduction back in May, the Emmet Mullins-trained gelding was sent off a strong favourite on his return, but failed to give his running having been struck into. This looks a nice opportunity for the son of Spanish Moon to register a first victory over hurdles. Following a promising stable debut in a good maiden hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, Yeshil is entitled to be very competitive. Campbell Black has shaped well enough in two starts to date to be competitive now.

A stylish debut bumper winner at the festival here in May, VITORIO PIEL had an excuse for his eclipse on hurdling debut at the venue

4/1(-78%) | (4) White Noise 4/1, Improved from her debut under a positive ride when winning a novice hurdle over 2m at Worcester by 3l last time. Effective at 2m, should stay further, and acts on good ground; debut form working out very well and still progressing. Made all in Worcester maiden last month and remains very unexposed; handicap debut. |

4/1(+33%) | (2) Looking As You Are 4/1, Ran to her best when fourth, beaten 6l, in a 3m handicap hurdle at Ludlow latest. Effective from 2m4f to 2m7f and handles soft and good ground; progressive but lacks recent race fitness. In good form when last seen in February but would appeal more over further. |

3rd (5) (2/1 +20%)Just Her Type |
2/1(+20%) | (5) Just Her Type 2/1, Improved, travelled when landing a handicap by 5l off 102 over 2m4f at Ffos Las last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on S, G; open to further improvement. Drew clear to win readily by nearly 5l at Ffos Las last month and remains lightly raced. |

4th (1) (6/1 +40%)La Marquise |
6/1(+40%) | (1) La Marquise 6/1, Made too much use of up in trip on handicap debut and needed the run when comfortably held in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time; effective at 2m4f and handles soft ground; should improve for that return. Twice well held since winning hurdle debut; needs to get back on track; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 +27%)Spot On Soph |
4/1(+27%) | (6) Spot On Soph 4/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 4l off 104, benefitting from a pace collapse last time. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and suited by good ground; arrives in fine form. Consistent 9yo; ran very well last month and is very well suited by this track; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (18/1 -157%)Lady Babs |
18/1(-157%) | (3) Lady Babs 18/1, Ran to form and appreciated the drop back in trip when landing a handicap by a neck off 105 over 2m1f at Carlisle last time. Effective from 2m1f to 2m3f and handles good to soft and good ground; the veteran has a chance. 11yo who ended last season in career-best form (four wins); resumes on tough mark, though. |

Lady Babs was in brilliant form before her break, winning four of her last five starts, and she has to be respected. White Noise makes her handicap debut and warrants a market check, but JUST HER TYPE gets the vote. Max Comley's mare readily took care of her nearest rival by just under five lengths at Ffos Las last month and a 6lb rise might underestimate the manner of that success.

Consistent 9yo SPOT ON SOPH looked as good as ever when second at Bangor recently and is sure to be suited by the return to this track.

A maiden but beaten single-figure lengths in four handicap hurdles in Ireland this summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (17/2 -70%)Lillistar |
17/2(-70%) | (8) Lillistar 17/2, Scored by 3/4l off 46 over 2m1f at Wolverhampton on penultimate start and ran to form up in trip when third last time; effective around 2m4f over hurdles, acts on good; in good form under both codes. Might not want the ground to get too soft but clear claims otherwise in current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

20/1(-25%) | (1) Vampire Slayer 20/1, Bit below form back hurdling when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Perth last time; effective around 2m, acts on soft and good to soft; needs more. Peak Flat/hurdle form offers hope but whether he'll stay this far remains to be seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (12/1 +64%)Smart Bucks |
12/1(+64%) | (10) Smart Bucks 12/1, Yard won this last year; pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Fakenham last time; yet to show much over hurdles and looks up against it. Beaten 14l on handicap debut over C&D before pulling up at Fakenham. |

6/1(+14%) | (2) Balally Park 6/1, Again below summer best in reapplied cheekpieces when beaten 5 1/4l into third in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Ayr last time; effective from 2m to 2m2f, acts on soft and good; could go well again. Now 0-17 but placed in his last two completed starts and he's fine on all ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (80/1 -220%)Seeyainthesuninn |
80/1(-220%) | (3) Seeyainthesuninn 80/1, Poor handicap debut when pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Wetherby last time; effective around 2m4f, acts on good; needs more to defy current mark. Has yet to offer much at all, including on recent handicap debut when a 50-1 chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (50/1 +0%)The Geordie Ginge |
50/1(+0%) | (11) The Geordie Ginge 50/1, Every chance but below form in first-time blinkers when down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f here last time; effective around 2m, acts on good; currently out of form. Exposed maiden who doesn't arrive here in much form and would be a surprise winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (66/1 -164%)Kilnacarra |
66/1(-164%) | (5) Kilnacarra 66/1, Needed first run in almost four years when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m7f at Uttoxeter last time; tongue-tie first time; formerly effective around 2m, acts on good; may need another run. Showed a bit in Ireland but not on first run for this yard in a maiden when 200-1. |

Lillistar finished a respectable third at Wetherby on her most recent start and is of interest off an unchanged rating. Balally Park remains on an appealing mark and is considered, but DEVON SKIES gets the nod. Philip Kirby's mare benefited from a change of tactics when bolting up at this course last week and, if in anything like that form, she will prove a tough nut to crack.

A few with chances but the suggestion is BALALLY PARK who looks a good bet to give his running.

5th (22) (28/1 +15%)Rideau Canal |
28/1(+15%) | (22) Rideau Canal 28/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the drop in trip when down the field in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Cork; returning from a break and likely to prefer further than 2m. Not a bad effort when 5th at this course over 3m in June but has generally been regressive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (20) (80/1 +20%)Rajjnatin |

13/2(-8%) | (4) Welcome Aboard 13/2, Finished strongly when beaten 2l off 93 over 3m here last time after benefitting from a late pace collapse; still unexposed and can win off this mark. Big improver on handicap debut; shorter trip not sure to suit but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Second in course maiden last month; chance on handicap bow but faces different conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (5/1 +23%)Aswellasabentley |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (5) (14/1 +0%)Blue Reed |
14/1(+0%) | (5) Blue Reed 14/1, Made mistakes and faded back down in trip, doing too much early when well held over 2m at Kilbeggan last time; did best of those who raced prominently; returns from a short break and rates a leading contender on race times. Runner-up in successive handicap hurdles at the start of the year on easy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (19) (12/1 -33%)Ballinaboola Jet |
12/1(-33%) | (19) Ballinaboola Jet 12/1, Improved on recent form when beaten 2 1/2l off 76 over 2m4f at Wexford last time; effective around 2 1/2m but not one to rely on repeating that effort. Just behind Roccabaker last time; can challenge for the places again if building on that. |

Well beaten in three maidens; always in rear on handicap bow at Ballinrobe; visor; reserve. |

SPANISH JOHN looks to have decent claims for trainer Pat Fahy. Twice successful on the Flat this year, the seven-year-old appears well treated back over flights relative to that mark. Having landed his sole previous victory over hurdles off an identical rating, he has plenty in his favour and with Harry Sexton claiming 7lb, it is difficult to see him not playing a leading role. Aswellasabentley has to be respected on what is only his third run for Gavin Cromwell, and stepping back up in trip should suit. Welcome Aboard, who finished third here on his handicap debut, is entitled to be all the better for that experience.

SPANISH JOHN (nap) is running off a lenient mark back over hurdles and will handle underfoot conditions
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
