GLEN TO GLEN won a Curragh maiden in March and finished off his Flat campaign with a rating of 87. The Dawn Approach gelding was far from disgraced on his hurdling debut at Navan last Sunday, when fifth behind the highly-regarded Barbizon, and should benefit from that experience. Combs also won a Flat maiden at Tipperary this year and is now fitted with cheekpieces after being placed on both hurdles starts, while Quinta Do Lago won at Cork in good style and is another to consider along with French import Mont Star.

Effectively a winner without a penalty, having taken an academy hurdle at Cork, QUINTA DO LAGO shaped as if he would improve

Eddie My Eagle has done little wrong, finishing second in his sole point-to-point and again in a Stratford bumper, and if he takes to hurdles he could be the biggest rival to GLANCE AT MIDNIGHT. Andrew Martin's gelding improved to win at the third attempt after market support in a bumper here in April, and is bred to be even better over obstacles. Hans Lippershey is a tentative suggestion for third if a first-time hood brings improvement.

Fourth in a Cheltenham bumper last month, HANS LIPPERSHEY is taken to make a winning hurdle debut.

SANTO SOSPIR won a bumper here on debut in February and finished fourth when reappearing in a 2m maiden hurdle at Wexford last month. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding should progress from that experience and is likely to appreciate this step up in trip. Sound As A Bell won a point-to-point in good style this spring, while stablemate Ready For Road made a creditable start over hurdles recently at Cork. L'as De Watt filled the runner-up spot behind the odds-on I'm Slippy on his hurdles debut at Cork earlier this month and is also noted.

Course bumper winner SANTO SOSPIR should benefit from the step up in trip following his introduction to hurdling at Wexford.

The son of Masked Marvel won a Stowlin point-to-point by 12 lengths before scoring by the same margin on his hurdling bow at Chepstow where he made all the running and, if his hurdling improves, he could be one to follow this season. Double Measure ran well in second on his hurdling debut and can also get involved.

Bobalot won by two lengths over C&D in April, but he has 4lb more from the handicapper and may have to settle for a place. Touchwoodexpress might be worth another chance after winning at Newton Abbot in September before a poor effort at Ludlow, but ICAQUE DE L'ISLE is preferred. Third over 2m4f at Worcester, the step up in trip will suit and he should be spot-on now.

Having been successful in two of his last three appearances, GROOM DE COTTE (nap) may well be the answer. Bobalot is second pick.

Off The Jury has yet to score over timber but it isn't for the want of trying. The six-year-old was last seen finishing a narrow second in the EBF Final at Sandown in March and is respected ahead of his return, but the vote goes to PERCY SHELLEY. A useful horse on the level, he made a seamless transition to hurdling at Uttoxeter before walking over at Ludlow. James Owen's gelding lost little in defeat when beaten a neck at Cheltenham next time and further improvement is plausible. Big Ticket is also noted.

Off The Jury is the form pick, while BIG TICKET and Etna Bianco are interesting types with progress on the cards.

The French import joined Willie Mullins last season and scored twice over hurdles, including the Grade 3 Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran. Riding arrangements suggest Shuffle The Deck is preferred of the JP McManus-owned quintet, and the point-to-point winner was successful twice over hurdles at Naas. James's Gate also won twice over hurdles last term, while Cork maiden hurdle winner Sky Lord is another interesting prospect.

Things didn't go to plan for Shantwopointfive over fences but she ought to be happier back hurdling, while Porter In The Park drops in class after finishing third at Wincanton. With Joe Tizzard's yard firing on all cylinders, it could pay to side with BOBBI WITH AN I. She made a pleasing return over an extended 2m2f at Exeter and looks certain to benefit from a step up in trip.

Joe Tizzard can strike with BOBBI WITH AN I (nap). Shortlisted are Good Luck Charm, Presenting Doy and Shantwopointfive.

Progressive over hurdles last season, ROCKY'S DIAMOND looks the one to beat. The Declan Queally-trained gelding won a Grade 2 at Gowran in January before subsequently finishing fourth in the Stayers' Hurdle. An impressive winner on his chasing debut at Galway in September, he ran into a decent opponent when narrowly beaten at Wexford last time. A Listed winner over flights, Oscars Brother has always given the impression he would make a better chaser. Runner-up on his first two starts over fences, the son of Malinas scored easily on his latest start. Koktail Divin completes the shortlist.

ROCKY'S DIAMOND has made a positive start to his chasing career and a repeat of his Wexford Listed second in open company should do.

KING ULANDA has started the new campaign in excellent form, winning on his Carlisle return before posting a solid effort in defeat at Worcester. The Ross O'Sullivan-trained TALK IN THE PARK can open his account over fences. Having been handicapped over the minimum trip, the seven-year-old ran a huge race when runner-up in a beginners chase at Galway in August. Subsequently third on his first start in handicap company at Listowel, he ran well in a much stronger race when fourth in the Munster National last time. Smart hurdler Waterford Whispers has yet to replicate that form over fences, but gives the impression that he has more to offer. It would be no surprise to see an improved performance upped in distance here. High Class Hero, third in the bet365 Gold Cup, has to be respected if fit and ready on his seasonal reappearance.

It wasn't the biggest shock when Gms Prince went and won at Market Rasen and Sarah Hollinshead has found her gelding another very winnable opening. He is respected, but TARBAT NESS edges the vote at the other end of the weights. A good third when last seen over timber at Hexham in May, John Berry's charge must have a good chance coming here race-fit following a successful spin on the Flat at Catterick. Tramuntana is noted too.

Topweight TARBAT NESS ran well in defeat over C&D in March and looked in excellent nick when winning on the Flat last month.

In the absence of State Man, LOSSIEMOUTH can prove an able deputy for Willie Mullins. A dual Grade 1 winner at this track, the six-year-old mare signed off last season with an impressive victory at Aintree in April. Having always run well off the back of a break, the top-class grey is likely to be fairly straight for this first start of the new campaign. Stablemate Irancy could well represent the biggest danger. A winner here at the Festival in April, the seven-year-old is lightly raced and open to further improvement. Galway Hurdle winner Ndaawi needs to step forward again, but is not without his chance.

Although her 2m efforts last season were not attended by success, LOSSIEMOUTH faces a relatively straightforward task here

A ready winner at Market Rasen before that, another bold bid looks assured given his current frame of mind. Boys Of Wexford arrives with a fighting chance on the back of finishing second at Fontwell, while Strolling Along is not badly treated on his best form over hurdles and could also feature.

An open handicap. STARDHEM edges preference now he returns to the scene for both his chase wins.

WODHOOH found only the top-class Lossiemouth too good in Grade 1 company at Aintree in April. She won the Martin Pipe in fine style at Cheltenham before that and Gordon Elliott's mare will likely take all the beating on these terms. Kateira returned to action with a defeat of an admittedly below-par Golden Ace at Wetherby and steps up in trip with a shout, while three-time Grade 2 winner Nemean Lion showed good progress last season and makes more appeal than Potters Charm and Celtic Dino.

On favourable terms back down in grade, WODHOOH is the strongest contender. Potters Charm is second choice.

A winner at Fairyhouse earlier this month, STICWITHTHEPROCESS can follow up back in handicap company. Having landed the odds in a maiden hurdle, the handicapper decided to leave him on the same rating and with the form of his previous run in handicap company having been well advertised by the winner, the Ted Walsh-trained gelding could be nicely treated. Collaborative, who was a well-beaten third behind Sticwiththeprocess in April, is almost certainly better than that form suggests. His win at Fairyhouse a couple of months earlier looks strong given the subsequent exploits of the runner-up. Saint Le Fort, who caught the eye at Cork last time, is one to consider for an in-form stable.

Preference is for STICWITHTHEPROCESS who won a 2m maiden at Fairyhouse despite idling and is proven over this trip and ground.

GREY DAWNING was beaten by Royale Pagaille in this contest 12 months ago but a mistake at the last probably cost him the victory that day. He ended last season with a second in the Bowl at Aintree and a repeat of that level of form may well be good enough given this renewal lacks star quality. Haiti Couleurs, who won the National Hunt Chase and Irish Grand National last season, has the benefit of a recent run. However, the eight-year-old still has plenty to find to beat the selection. Any further rain would help Royale Pagaille's chances of retaining his crown. Cases can be made for both Handstands and Stellar Story, but career bests are required from them.

Last year's runner-up GREY DAWNING is taken to go one better. The 11yo Royale Pagaille is bidding for a race hat-trick.

It's not hard to risk one of the newcomers and COTTON SOCKS is from a good family.

TEDDY BLUE found plenty in the closing stages to triumph over C&D on his return to the fray. A 4lb rise may not be enough to anchor him and Harry Derham's charge can confirm his superiority over Gabriel's Getaway. The latter finished a determined second on that occasion and rates a threat once again, while JPR One faced a tough task when attempting to defend his Haldon Gold Cup crown and is preferred to last year's winner Martator back at this level.

All the signs look good for TEDDY BLUE who is taken to follow up his C&D success and confirm placings with Gabriel's Getaway.

A promising third on his racecourse debut here in February, ROJUCO MAC can make a winning reappearance. The form of that contest looked above average at the time, and the fourth proved that theory right when subsequently landing a bumper. Unlikely to want for fitness coming from these quarters, the Charles Byrnes-trained gelding can make the breakthrough on this second start. Runner-up on both appearances under Rules to date, Grandy Lane shouldn't be long in registering a first victory. Down Royal bumper scorer Ballyfad has to carry a penalty for that success, but the point-to-point winner has to be respected in his bid to maintain his unbeaten record.

Ballyfad is a big player but may find it hard to concede 7lb to GRANDY LANE, a close runner-up in a Clonmel bumper last time

Despite having to carry plenty of weight, FAMOUS BRIDGE tops the shortlist as Nicky Richards' gelding won this race back in 2023 and rarely runs poorly at this venue. When last seen here, the nine-year-old was first past the post in the Grand National Trial in February and, while he was subsequently disqualified from that success, he could make amends off the same mark following a prep over hurdles three weeks ago. Shomen Uchi remains unexposed and has to be of interest in a first-time tongue-tie, while Duke Of Deception and Konfusion are others to note.

The 8yo SHOMEN UCHI has had an interrupted career but can make it 2-2 over fences on his handicap debut. Konfusion is feared.

Topweight ABSOLUTELY DOYEN is selected for this 3m race on his handicap debut, ahead of Aslukgoes and Creadan Grace.

Newcomer Thestral looks the part as a son of Dream Ahead and he warrants consideration, especially if the market speaks in his favour. Henriette Ronner drops in class after finishing eighth in a class 2 at Musselburgh, making her difficult to ignore, but AQUA BEAR could be the one. Second at Dundalk on his last start in Ireland, he has moved to Ian Williams, who should be able to get a win out of the Kodi Bear colt.

This looks a good opportunity for the ex-Irish AQUA BEAR, who sets a fairly useful standard on his second at Dundalk last month.

Darn Hot Gallop was always doing enough to win on debut at Wolverhampton, but it was perhaps not sparkling enough to be confident she'll go in again in this company under a penalty. She's certainly not overlooked, but LOMA EXPRESS could be the one getting 7lb on the back of an improved display here last month. Prima Bailarina is respected too.

Loma Express and Darn Hot Gallop are respected but the vote goes to PRIMA BAILARINA, who made a promising start at Redcar.

TOOTSIE has been edging closer to that elusive first win. Beaten half a length when runner-up at Southwell recently, Tim Easterby's filly could prove the one to side with. How's The Guvnor returns to this longer distance with a shout having placed over 7f at Wolverhampton, while One More Bottle and Typeface are others capable of making their presence felt.

Preference is for HOW'S THE GUVNOR, who is on a much reduced mark and did well to finish a close third at Wolverhampton 19 days ago.
