LTO Selection:

12:20 Kempton Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS displayed plenty of promise when finishing second on his debut over C&D last month and the son of Masked Marvel could be hard to stop with the benefit of that experience under his belt. Goodwin Face is related to plenty of winners and has to be of interest on his racecourse bow, while Push To Pass and Billytherealbigred are others to note.

The C&D race CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS was second in on debut has thrown up a few winners so Jane Williams' charge should take a bit of stopping if making the anticipated improvement. Stratford runner-up Billytherealbigred is the one likely to follow him home unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Harry Derham newcomer Push To Pass.

Ready preference is for CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS, who sets a solid standard on his C&D effort. Billytherealbigred is second choice.

LTO Selection:

12:35 Ludlow Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NATHANAEL GREENE was a decent handicapper on the Flat for William Haggas and was purchased for 45,000gns at the Tattersalls August Horses-In-Training sale. The four-year-old appeals as the type who could make up into a useful performer in this sphere and gets the vote at the expense of The Famous Five, who may benefit from a drop in trip after returning here over 2m5f earlier in the month, and Imperial Saint.

THE FAMOUS FIVE has been very lightly raced for Venetia Williams since being bought for €250,000 but showed enough when a recent third here to suggest he can add to his two French Flat successes. Nathanael Greene was a useful winner in that sphere and is feared most now switched to hurdling, while Gentleman Jacques and debutants Dundory, Imperial Saint and Mersey Street need factoring in too.

The vote goes to IMPERIAL SAINT, who was impressive in his last point and is a half-brother to a multiple hurdle winner in France.

LTO Selection:

12:50 Kempton Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Floating Line is likely to be popular having filled second place in a Fakenham NH Flat race on her debut in April. She has since switched from Olly Murphy to Nicky Henderson but the form is not very strong and preference is for SECRET SQUIRREL, who won both of his outings in bumpers. Cases can be made for most of the remainder, but Dancing In Brazil and Borodale are arguably the pick of them.

The market should reveal plenty here. FLOATING LINE makes her hurdling debut for Nicky Henderson having gone with some promise when a debut bumper runner-up for Olly Murphy and edges the vote. Secret Squirrel went 2-2 in bumpers last spring so is feared most now starting out in this sphere, although fellow newcomers Jolyjump and Highway One O Five also warrant plenty of respect along with Dancing In Brazil who unseated his rider at Wincanton on his hurdling bow.

Promising SECRET SQUIRREL is taken to remain unbeaten. Perfect Nelson is second choice.

LTO Selection:

13:05 Ludlow Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BREAKING COVER has shown promise in both starts over hurdles and an opening mark of 105 appears to be workable following his recent second at Taunton. Alphonse Le Grande commands plenty of interest for Tony Martin on his first appearance since June, when finishing third at Sligo, while Jubilee Gold could have more to offer on his return from a lengthy absence.

A case can be made for a few of these but BREAKING COVER is fancied to build on his good recent Taunton second now going into handicaps and get off the mark. Fellow handicap debutant Captain Attridge also looks to have better days ahead of him and is next on the list, with the lightly-raced Little Pi and returning Jubilee Gold also in the mix in an open handicap.

The vote goes to BREAKING COVER (nap), who was second in a Taunton novice and is an interesting contender on his handicap debut.

LTO Selection:

13:25 Kempton Maiden Chase (Class 3) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

FIRST STREET was a high-class handicapper over timber and managed to chase home State Man in the County Hurdle back in March 2022. The six-year-old confirmed his well-being with a respectable third in a Listed event here last month and he is going to be hard to beat if transferring that ability to fences. Harbour Lake ran well in some valuable events last season and should not be underestimated, while Bourbali needs to improve but merits some consideration.

The vote goes to FIRST STREET who was the best of these over hurdles and arrives on the back of a solid reappearance third in a listed event here. Harbour Lake appeals as the sort to do well in this sphere, with Bourbali not discounted either.

Judged on hurdles form FIRST STREET has the best chance, followed by fellow chase debutant Harbour Lake then Bourbali.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WEST ORCHARD made amends for a first-fence fall on his chasing debut at Newton Abbot when returning to the larger obstacles at Plumpton earlier this month. He made every yard of the running on that occasion and the step back up in trip is unlikely to be an inconvenience. Meechlands Magic was unlucky when hampered early and unseating his rider at Hereford, when bidding for a quickfire double, and he has to be respected, despite running off a 9lb higher mark. Others to consider are Justshortofabubble and Deadly Missile.

BRAGANZA BAY will probably have a tougher time of things here than when winning on chase debut at Hereford but a 7 lb rise looks manageable and Henry Daly's charge is fancied to follow up. Meechlands Magic has also already surpassed his hurdles form and remains worth viewing positively after a non-completion last time, with the reliable Justshortofabubble likely to give another good show.

Several have claims but top of the list is JUSTSHORTOFABUBBLE, who found more progress when beating 13 rivals at Taunton 11 days ago.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE had plenty in hand when winning a novice hurdle over 2m5f here last month and, given he wasn't fully extended that day and already has proven stamina, he is fancied to cope with today's additional yardage. The Kim Bailey-trained gelding debuts in a handicap off a very workable mark and looks open to a tad more progression than the likes of recent Huntingdon winner Ballintubber Boy and Baddesley, who returns to this trip after winning off 3lb lower at Plumpton three weeks ago.

DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE will need some improvement to defy an opening handicap mark in the low-120s but his unexposed profile provides the hope for better and he's preferred to last-time-out winners Baddesley and Ballintubber Boy.

Improving novice hurdler DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE could well defy top weight. Baddesley and Ballintubber Boy look the dangers.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CLONDAW PRETENDER was moving into contention when sent off favourite on his return from the sidelines, only to fall two out over fences at Sedgefield, and the switch back to hurdles may provide the ideal confidence boost. Fantomas remains on the same mark as his runner-up display at Southwell last month and is expected to be competitive once again. Movie King and Getbazoutofhere appeal most of the remainder.

The vote goes to Irish raider MOVIE KING, who has performed with credit both starts since returning from a break in September and his latest effort over fences at Punchestown was eye-catching. Clondaw Pretender represents a yard in good form and is feared on the back of an encouraging comeback run at Sedgefield where he held every chance when unseating rider at the second-last. Duke of Moravia, Fantomas and Getbazoutofhere are others to consider.

Irish challenger MOVIE KING has travelled over in search of some better ground and ran creditably over fences last time on softer.

LTO Selection:

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

KATEIRA progressed well last season, with her final run seeing her finish second to Irish Point in an Aintree Grade 1, and Dan Skelton's mare is expected to leave behind her return effort when a well-beaten third at Wetherby. The step up to 3m is another potential avenue for improvement and this appears an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways. Coquelicot won't lack for fitness having run with credit in a Newmarket handicap at the start of the month and appears the main danger, although Sabrina won in great style at Ayr in the spring and may have more to offer.

Anthony Honeyball has his team in good form so a chance is taken on COQEULICOT getting the better of Kateira, who is a clear form pick based on her second in a 2½m Grade 1 novice at Aintree last season but was below that level on her reappearance and also has stamina to prove now stepping up significantly in trip.

Kateira is respected on her peak effort but SPACE VOYAGE is an interesting alternative and Sabrina is another appealing type.

YOU SAY NOTHING arrives having won two of his last three starts and a 6lb rise for the most recent of those victories may not be enough to stop him here. Feel The Pinch was successful when last seen over fences at Ffos Las in May and he should not be underestimated, while Stormin Crossgales and Desque De L'Isle are others to note.

DESQUE DE L'ISLE needs to bounce back having ended last season on a low-key note and was safely held when returning from 8 months off at Huntingdon. Conversely, it's worth noting that he failed to fire on his reappearance last season before scoring twice over this C&D (including this corresponding race) and, now 3 lb lower than for the second of those two wins, the 10-y-o is worth chancing. The others are all closely matched, with Feel The Pinch and Stormin Crossgales feared most.

A tight race in which Christian Williams' front-runner YOU SAY NOTHING gets the vote ahead of last year's winner Desque De L'Isle.

THELASTHIGHKING is on an upward curve and fancied to quickly resume winning ways on the back of his excellent reappearance second here. Dan Skelton's pair Our Jet and Amoola Gold rate the main threats and can chase him home in that order.

Having posted a good effort here last month, THELASTHIGHKING (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Our Jet is second choice.

Runner-up in Irish point but she's struggled over over hurdles and has a lot to prove.
LTO Selection:

15:20 Ludlow Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The unexposed COOLEENYMORE filled second place on her handicap bow at Chepstow a few weeks ago and it would be no surprise to see her go one better off the same mark here. Masked Dance also hit the crossbar on her most recent outing and has to be of interest on her return from a wind operation. The shortlist is completed by Houston Calling and Happy Index.

Plenty in with a squeak but preference is for MINNIEMUM, who is better than she could show on return at Hereford last month and Henry Daly's mare can get off the mark provided she keeps jumping errors to a minimum. Cooleenymore was well suited by the step up in trip on her handicap bow at Chepstow earlier this month and she may have to settle for silver for a third start in succession, ahead of Houston Calling and Hidden Belle.

Preference is for COOLEENYMORE, who was runner-up on her recent handicap debut Chepstow and is a big player if she can build on that.

(1) Brookie 11/2, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser in Ireland and better than ever when making a winning start for new trainer Anthony Honeyball in 4-runner Fontwell handicap hurdle in October. Folded tamely in a deeper race at Newbury since, though.
Comfortably beat two of these rivals at Fontwell (stable debut) on penultimate outing.

(4) Tapley 10/3, Bounced back to form with a bang with a career-best effort to see off 12 rivals over C&D a fortnight ago. That was a well-contested race and he should remain competitive after a 6 lb rise.

(7) Oslo 5/1, Won a Market Rasen maiden and 2m handicap at Worcester in summer 2022. Showed he retains all his ability back from an absence when just edged out at Uttoxeter (2m, good) in August. That form has been franked and big player if he can keep the errors down (tends to make mistakes).
Unlucky second at Uttoxeter last time out (final-flight error perhaps cost him a win).

LTO Selection:

15:35 Kempton Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Tapley stepped forward considerably from his previous couple of performances when scoring over C&D a fortnight ago, but a 6lb rise will make life tougher for him. Oslo's second at Uttoxeter in August gives him every chance of being in the mix, while any market support for In This World would make him of interest. The vote, though, goes to SAMUEL SPADE, who showed promise as a juvenile and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back from his efforts in the spring.

TOOTHLESS was bang there until his stamina appeared to give out over 21f at Ludlow and gets the nod back at 2m having been eased another 2 lb since. Small Bad Bob has made a positive start to his time with Chris Gordon and remains well treated on old form so he's second choice ahead of Oslo, who can make mistakes but is more than capable off his mark.

The percentage call goes to TAPLEY, who took well to this circuit two weeks ago. Small Bad Bob is second choice.

LTO Selection:

15:50 Ludlow NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Irish raider METKAYINA was far from disgraced when third as favourite on her debut at Galway a month ago and she merits the utmost respect with the benefit of that experience. Chatty Chich has a similar profile to the selection and is an obvious threat. Jakana is an eyecatching newcomer for a yard that can ready one first time, while Bing Belle and Jena D'oudairies could also go well on their first starts.

An interesting bumper to conclude. The way that METKAYINA travelled on her Galway debut suggests that this sharp track should play to her strengths and she's preferred to Dan Skelton's Chatty Chich, who shaped well on her C&D debut back in May. Jena d'Oudairies, Jasmine Bliss and Bing Belle are respected rules newcomers in a race where the betting is likely to be informative.

Marginal preference is for Irish filly METKAYINA, who should build on her Galway effort. Jena D'Oudairies is feared most.
