1st (1) (7/1 +30%)Freddy Robinson |
7/1(+30%) | (1) Freddy Robinson 7/1 Reverts to hurdles on a competitive mark and he could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (8/11 +42%)Bathgate |
8/11(+42%) | (5) Bathgate 8/11 Clear second at Sedgefield recently and reappears before a 6lb rise kicks in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 -191%)Uhtred Ragnarson |
4/1(-191%) | (4) Uhtred Ragnarson 4/1 Ready win at Warwick last month after a break; strong claims if handling slower ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (7/1 +30%)Wind Your Neck In |
7/1(+30%) | (6) Wind Your Neck In 7/1 Ran okay at Sedgefield last month but failed to back that up at Leicester subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (14/1 +44%)Lady Babs |
14/1(+44%) | (2) Lady Babs 14/1 Pulled up here on recent return but may have needed the run; has won here four times. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (40/1 -100%)Tara Iti |
40/1(-100%) | (3) Tara Iti 40/1 Four wins this March-June but has gone off the boil more recently. |

UHTRED RAGNARSON comfortably accounted for his nearest rival by four and a half lengths at Warwick last month and a 7lb rise might underestimate that effort. On just his third outing in a handicap, the son of Holy Roman Emperor could progress to go in again. Bathgate occupied the runner-up berth at Sedgefield on his latest outing and is likely to go well again with the Philip Kirby yard in good form. Wind Your Neck In is another to note.

Having returned to form with a clear second at Sedgefield ten days ago, BATHGATE (nap) is 6lb ahead of the handicapper today.

1st (8) (6/5 +64%)Ubatuba |
6/5(+64%) | (8) Ubatuba 6/5 Irish point winner; joined new connections for £85,000; from a good family. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 -20%)Shotgun Rider |
3/1(-20%) | (6) Shotgun Rider 3/1 Rallied to win Irish point and sold for £155,000 later in May; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/1 +44%)Tao Enki |
9/1(+44%) | (7) Tao Enki 9/1 Pedigree suggests this longer distance is well worth exploring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 -115%)Choice Runner |
7/2(-115%) | (1) Choice Runner 7/2 Has shown promise at Uttoxeter since switched to hurdles; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 -64%)My Own Lovely Lee |
9/1(-64%) | (3) My Own Lovely Lee 9/1 Looks a stayer in the making (may need 3m+) but is open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (150/1 -20%)Neptune House |
150/1(-20%) | (4) Neptune House 150/1 Weak claims on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (40/1 0%)Pop's Folly |
40/1(0%) | (5) Pop's Folly 40/1 Bred to be suited by this new scenario. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (33/1 +18%)Midsummer Dream |
33/1(+18%) | (2) Midsummer Dream 33/1 Not particularly solid on his bumper efforts. |

Point-to-point winner Shotgun Rider changed hands for 155,000 pounds in May and warrants a market check on his debut under Rules, along with the Olly Murphy-trained Ubatuba. However, CHOICE RUNNER finished a respectable second over 2m at Uttoxeter last month, shaping as if he would relish this step back up in trip. With any improvement, he could prove tough to beat.

The suggestion is CHOICE RUNNER. Rules debutants Shotgun Rider and Ubatuba bring potential.

1st (3) (6/4 +67%)Hidor De Bersy |
6/4(+67%) | (3) Hidor De Bersy 6/4 Seen only twice under rules since 2023 but showed he retains some ability last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (1/1 +27%)Western Soldier |
1/1(+27%) | (4) Western Soldier 1/1 1m7f success at Wincanton two weeks ago; respected, assuming he stays this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +0%)Bongo Man |
9/2(+0%) | (1) Bongo Man 9/2 Bred to be suited by this new trip but has raced freely over 2m; handicap debut. |

WESTERN SOLDIER made his second outing for the Seamus Mullins stable a winning one at this venue last month and this step up in distance could unlock further improvement, so he looks the one to beat. Roadshow failed to supplement his Sedgefield triumph when well beaten at Kempton in October, but he should not be discounted. Hidor De Bersy can beat Bongo Man home for third.

Hidor De Bersy (second choice) has the least to prove as regards the trip but WESTERN SOLDIER is preferred on recent form.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (2/1 +0%)Private Dancer |
2/1(+0%) | (7) Private Dancer 2/1 Placed on both French Flat starts and has joined a top stable to go hurdling. |

3rd (4) (17/2 +29%)Lights Go Down |
17/2(+29%) | (4) Lights Go Down 17/2 Well backed when second of five on hurdle debut at Sedgefield; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/1 -170%)Mojito Des Mottes |
9/1(-170%) | (1) Mojito Des Mottes 9/1 1-1 in France; underwhelming on British debut but could be a different proposition today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 -54%)Bouquet De Paris |
10/1(-54%) | (2) Bouquet De Paris 10/1 Promise on sole Flat start but well beaten at 25-1 on his hurdle and stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (28/1 +30%)Appleblossomwhite |
28/1(+30%) | (8) Appleblossomwhite 28/1 Two-time Flat winner but at an ordinary level; early unseat in July on sole hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (33/1 +0%)Division Day |
33/1(+0%) | (3) Division Day 33/1 Early unseat on hurdle debut but dam was a Listed juvenile hurdle winner for connections. |

Lights Go Down only found one too good on his hurdling debut at Sedgefield, but the one that appeals most is MOJITO DES MOTTES. Ben Pauling's charge was well beaten into second behind a promising type at Ludlow and would have learnt a great deal from that experience. With any progression, he could be the one to beat. Any market confidence behind Private Dancer on his first start for the Skeltons would be interesting.

Hurdling newcomer PRIVATE DANCER showed promise on the Flat in France and is taken to make a winning start for Dan Skelton.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 -64%)Galway Reel |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 -100%)Reforme |
8/1(-100%) | (3) Reforme 8/1 Off the mark in Fakenham event last time and may build on that win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (12/1 -140%)Jackeline |
12/1(-140%) | (2) Jackeline 12/1 Chase debutant who doesn't seem to be crying out for this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/2 +66%)Grand Sabre |
11/2(+66%) | (6) Grand Sabre 11/2 Has failed to back up the form of his spring success. |

ROE AND CO may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests after idling towards the finish when completing a double at Market Rasen last month. It left the suspicion there is more in the locker and he could go in again for the in-form Jamie Snowden yard. Reforme went in by a length at Fakenham in October and holds an obvious chance off just a 1lb higher rating. Jackeline is next best.

With further improvement plausible, ROE AND CO could well complete a hat-trick. Reforme is feared most.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +50%)Mecene |
9/2(+50%) | (3) Mecene 9/2 Yard going well with 11 of last 13 runners making the frame; respected on debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (25/1 -39%)Network Gold |
25/1(-39%) | (4) Network Gold 25/1 Beaten 29l by Milau Du Chenet when fifth of eight at Bangor on debut last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (50/1 -456%)Network Rgb |
50/1(-456%) | (5) Network Rgb 50/1 In rear throughout when seventh behind Milou Du Chenet at Bangor on debut last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (13/2 -18%)Sixty's Rock |
13/2(-18%) | (6) Sixty's Rock 13/2 Must be high on the list for top yard on debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (80/1 -60%)Tails Of Gold |
80/1(-60%) | (7) Tails Of Gold 80/1 Fair fifth on debut in bumper at Exeter in October but distant sixth on hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (28/1 -273%)Callero |
28/1(-273%) | (2) Callero 28/1 Yard in good form and market will be best guide on racecourse debut.. |

Sixty's Rock is a full-brother to the smart Cheddleton and the son of Shirocco needs to be monitored closely in the betting. However, experience is on the side of MILOU DU CHENET and, for that reason, he gets the vote. Warren Greatrex's gelding struck in ready fashion on his hurdling debut at Bangor last month and is likely to have a lot more to offer. Network Gold isn't ruled out either.

This looks to be a good opportunity for MILOU DU CHENET to record his second win over hurdles. The main danger is Sixty's Rock.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (33/1 -18%)Plains Drifter |
33/1(-18%) | (5) Plains Drifter 33/1 Has shown promise but improvement needed to pose a threat in this useful contest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/6 -88%)Harry Lowes |
5/6(-88%) | (1) Harry Lowes 5/6 Point winner who barely had to come off the bridle to win Exeter novice hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/4 +21%)Kefir D'oudairies |
11/4(+21%) | (4) Kefir D'oudairies 11/4 Bumper winner who went close over C&D three weeks ago and could again be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (50/1 -25%)Chemoulin |
50/1(-25%) | (3) Chemoulin 50/1 £25,000 3yo; makes debut in hot little race and he'll need to be useful; wears tongue-tie. |

HARRY LOWES created a striking impression when making a winning start under Rules at Exeter and now takes a big step up in trip. With any amount of improvement to come, the son of Walk In The Park can defy his 7lb penalty to go in again. Montemares justified favouritism with ease at Hereford last month and is another exciting prospect, so he would be foolish to dismiss. Kefir D'oudairies looks best of the rest.

An intriguing clash between HARRY LOWES and Montemares, who both impressed last month on their hurdle debuts.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/1 +42%)Cast's Tasha |
7/1(+42%) | (3) Cast's Tasha 7/1 Scored at Ffos Las on reappearance last term; this may be the time to catch her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 -85%)Hold Up La Colmine |
3/1(-85%) | (2) Hold Up La Colmine 3/1 Wide-margin win over fences at Windsor on reappearance; great chance off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (15/2 -25%)Our Bill's Aunt |
15/2(-25%) | (1) Our Bill's Aunt 15/2 On a career-high mark but posted a solid win when last seen and is consistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (6/1 +45%)Lions Peak |
6/1(+45%) | (6) Lions Peak 6/1 Sole attempt beyond 2m resulted in maiden win (2m3f); may still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/3 +26%)Karton Plein |
10/3(+26%) | (5) Karton Plein 10/3 Latest effort suggests he's ready for a crack at this longer trip; may do better still. |

It's hard to get away from HOLD UP LA COLMINE, who hosed up over fences on his return to action at Windsor last month and if the eight-year-old is in similar form, he could prove hard to beat. Our Bill's Aunt is a C&D winner who was last seen scoring at Wetherby in February and she has to be respected, while One Eye On Vegas is another to take seriously.

Hold Up La Colmine seems to have a good chance back hurdling, while ONE EYE ON VEGAS is solid and Karton Plein is interesting.

1st (1) (4/1 -33%)Livingonaprayer |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Livingonaprayer 4/1, Improved for debut, stepped up in trip on better ground when winning a novice hurdle at Huntingdon over 2m4f by 4l last time. Trainer in form and effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on good and soft; the penalty demands more. Stepped up on her debut run at Wetherby in February to win at Huntingdon last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (3/1 -9%)Limerick Lass |
3/1(-9%) | (9) Limerick Lass 3/1, Improved on debut when tried in a tongue-tie to win a bumper at Chepstow over 2m by 1 1/4l last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, and brings potential to hurdles. Improved on her debut fourth when making all in a Chepstow bumper in April; hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (8/1 +33%)Indannya |
8/1(+33%) | (8) Indannya 8/1, Finished third, beaten 4l, in a maiden over 2m4f at Buckfastleigh on debut. This trip should suit and she looks open to improvement now switching to rules racing. Third of six in maiden point over 2m4f on good in March; makes rules debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (5/1 -11%)Springtime Legend |
5/1(-11%) | (11) Springtime Legend 5/1, Outpaced and below form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Hereford last time. Returning from a long layoff; effective around 2m5f and acts on heavy and soft ground; may need this outing. Beaten a head over C&D in January but well held in a similar contest at Hereford in March.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (3/1 +14%)Beauty In The Park |
3/1(+14%) | (6) Beauty In The Park 3/1, Matched debut form when 9 1/4l third in a maiden bumper over 1m7f here last time. Has undergone a wind operation and returns from a long break; effective around 2m, acts on heavy and good to soft; likely to progress over hurdles. Showed promise in her two runs in bumpers last term, latest when third here in January.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 +60%)Ask Peter |
8/1(+60%) | (4) Ask Peter 8/1, Ran to form when 2l third in a novice hurdle at Ludlow on her latest start. Enjoys making the running, effective from 2m to 2m5f and acts on heavy and good ground, but may prove vulnerable. Bits of form in five hurdle starts, latest when third of four at Ludlow in October.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (20/1 -25%)Bee's Kiss |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Bee's Kiss 20/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 9l, in a point over 3m at Toomebridge last time. This trip should prove a fair starting point under rules and she remains open to improvement. One win from her five starts in Irish points; best watched on rules debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (10/1 +9%)Annie Hathaway |
10/1(+9%) | (3) Annie Hathaway 10/1, Took a step backwards tried in a hood when down the field in a mares' bumper over 2m at Uttoxeter most recently. Returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m on good to soft and could improve for hurdles. Second in a bumper on debut but below that form subsequently; hurdles debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (250/1 -67%)Anabil Blue |
250/1(-67%) | (2) Anabil Blue 250/1, Unseated in a novice hurdle over 2m at Windsor last time. Yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles, though the step up in trip may help. Beaten a long way in two bumpers and on hurdles debut before unseating early on last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (400/1 -300%)Auntie Scarlet |
400/1(-300%) | (5) Auntie Scarlet 400/1, Made a moderate debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Uttoxeter on her only start. Yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles but should improve with experience. Sixth of seven on belated debut at Uttoxeter last month.. |

Livingonaprayer got off the mark at Huntingdon last month and has to be considered, but she might find it difficult to give her penalty away to LIMERICK LASS. Anthony Honeyball's mare is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Allart and progressed from her first bumper outing to score next time at Chepstow. The daughter of Soldier Of Fortune looks one to keep on the right side of and gets the vote. Beauty In The Park is another to watch out for.

In an open contest preference is for BEAUTY IN THE PARK to make a winning hurdles debut. Livingonaprayer is the main danger.

3/1(+70%) | (6) Castanea Breeze 3/1, Again below bumper form when fourth, beaten 30l, in a 2m5f maiden hurdle here last time. Cheekpieces tried for the first time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and handles good to soft and good; longer trip may suit now handicapping. Pedigree hints he could be suited by the step up in trip on handicap debut; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 -33%)Harry Bright |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Harry Bright 4/1, Fair handicap debut when beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Wincanton last time; effective 2m5f, acts on GS; may do better now handicapping. Fifth of 14 over 2m4f on handicap debut; could have more to offer for top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/2 +40%)Mac's Legacy |
9/2(+40%) | (4) Mac's Legacy 9/2, Produced a fair effort after a lengthy absence when third, beaten 9 1/4l, in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Ffos Las last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m3f and handles heavy and good to soft; should come on for the run. Third last month following a long absence and the step back up in trip could be a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (13/2 -30%)East Eagle |
13/2(-30%) | (8) East Eagle 13/2, Produced his best form since the spring when beaten 2 1/2l off a mark of 78 over 3m at Southwell last time. Effective at 3m and handles good to soft and good; strong chance if reproducing that effort. Runner-up off this mark at Southwell recently and in the shake-up if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (2/1 +20%)Seahouses |
2/1(+20%) | (3) Seahouses 2/1, Travelled well and improved when landing a handicap by 6 1/2l off a mark of 87 here last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on good to soft and good ground; continues to progress. Two-time course winner, the latest in good style over C&D three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (12/1 -118%)Ebony Jade |
12/1(-118%) | (7) Ebony Jade 12/1, Pulled up in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time. Yet to find suitable conditions over hurdles and hard to make a case for. Pulled up on stable debut but trainer has won 3 of the last 5 runnings; watch the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (50/1 -127%)Nottodaybobo |
50/1(-127%) | (2) Nottodaybobo 50/1, Pulled up in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time. Effective around 2m and handles soft and good ground, but form is regressing. Returned from absence with encouraging stable debut here in July but 3 heavy defeats since. |

SEAHOUSES had plenty in hand when winning over C&D three weeks ago and that performance suggests that even a 7lb rise may not be enough to stop him from following up. Mac's Legacy ran well when third on the back of a lengthy break at Ffos Las a month ago and he could prove to be the main threat, ahead of East Eagle.

Donttellyamumjack is an interesting handicap newcomer but SEAHOUSES was an authoritative winner over C&D three weeks ago.

1st (1) (5/6 +8%)A Pai De Nom |
5/6(+8%) | (1) A Pai De Nom 5/6, Improved on his handicap debut when winning a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham over 2m5f by a length last time. Effective from 2m to 2m5f with some cut in the ground, he is progressing over hurdles and could defy a big weight to outclass these. Leading player on his 2m5f hurdles form; successful in Cheltenham handicap last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -25%)Seaview Rock |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Seaview Rock 10/1, Showed minor promise when third, beaten 1/2l, in a maiden over 2m4f at Ballinaboola on debut. Returns from a long absence with a hood applied for the first time and is hard to fancy. Absent since showing promise in Irish point in February 2024; market helpful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -25%)North Of Richmond |
5/1(-25%) | (2) North Of Richmond 5/1, Travelled strongly and made a promising debut when winning a maiden hurdle at Fakenham by 3/4l last time. Effective over 2m and handles soft or good to soft ground. Although his debut form has some knocks, he should progress further and stay beyond 2m. Fakenham reappearance win took his overall record to 2121; solid contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (40/1 -21%)Romany King |
40/1(-21%) | (4) Romany King 40/1, Probably needed the run when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Ffos Las most recently. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time and looks difficult to fancy. Irish point winner; had wind surgery since folding tamely on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/2 +17%)Tread Carefully |
5/2(+17%) | (6) Tread Carefully 5/2, Improved from debut when just beaten by a useful rival, finishing second and beaten 3l in a maiden hurdle at Sandown last time. Effective over 2m on good ground, may stay further in time, and receives weight from main rivals while progressing well. Good second in two of his three starts, latest at Sandown; appears to have a race in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (200/1 -100%)Fanny Moon |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Fanny Moon 200/1, Outpaced but showed improvement from debut when well beaten in a bumper at Worcester last time. Has plenty to find in this company on hurdle debut. Needs to improve plenty on his bumper form. |

A PAI DE NOM displayed plenty of promise when winning a very competitive handicap at Cheltenham last month and that form suggests that he could be very hard to beat in a race of this nature. North Of Richmond won at Fakenham last time but that form is not very strong and he may struggle to give 6lb to Tread Carefully in the race for second.

A Pai De Nom drops back sharply in trip but is the form pick. TREAD CAREFULLY and North Of Richmond hold solid claims.

1st (8) (3/1 +63%)Happy Returns |
3/1(+63%) | (8) Happy Returns 3/1, The yard won this race last year. Ran to form when beaten 3l off 73 over 3m2f at Fontwell last time. Effective up to 3m2f and acts on good to soft or good ground. Consistent performer. Still a maiden but gave good account when keeping-on second at Fontwell last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 -33%)West Orchard |
6/1(-33%) | (4) West Orchard 6/1, Improved again up in trip tried in blinkers when landing a handicap chase by 3/4l off 95 here last time. Trainer is in form. Effective up to 3m1f and acts on good to soft or good ground. Returns from a long layoff but could be a threat back hurdling. Was progressive this time last year, winning three times over fences; off since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (14/1 +0%)Snapdance |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Snapdance 14/1, Well below form in a reapplied hood when down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m2f at Fontwell last time. Effective up to 2m3f and acts on soft or good ground. May improve up in trip when handicapping. Last of nine finishers in a Fontwell maiden in October following 555-day absence.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (25/1 +50%)Vengeance |
25/1(+50%) | (5) Vengeance 25/1, Needed the run when pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Exeter last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Effective at 2m4f and acts on good ground but inconsistent and must prove ability remains after a layoff. 0-11 and pulled up on his first run for 20 months at Exeter last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 +64%)Holkham Hall |
12/1(+64%) | (6) Holkham Hall 12/1, Slipped up in a point-to-point over 3m at Upcott Cross last time. Effective at 3m in points but yet to shine under rules. Returning from a long layoff and has a bit to find. Dual point winner but unraced under rules since November 2022.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (2/1 -23%)Final Straw |
2/1(-23%) | (1) Final Straw 2/1, Bit keen but improved again when landing a handicap by 7 1/2l off a mark of 95 at Plumpton last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m1f and acts on good ground. Progressive, with more to come as a stayer. On a hat-trick bid after winning handicaps at Kempton and Plumpton; strong claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (3/1 +54%)Atlantic Power |
3/1(+54%) | (7) Atlantic Power 3/1, Scored by 3/4l off 70 over 2m6f at Fontwell on his penultimate start and ran to form last time. Effective from 2m to 2m6f and acts on soft or good to soft ground. Has more to come. Got off the mark at the seventh attempt over hurdles at Fontwell in October.. |

FINAL STRAW is tough to oppose. He has improved no end since going handicapping, winning at Kempton and then Plumpton, and he should have a lot more to offer. West Orchard is interesting on the basis that he's the sole course winner in the field, but he does have a 352-day absence to overcome. Staff Sergeant Len can get involved too.

This looks to be a good opportunity for FINAL STRAW to land the three-timer. Second choice is Atlantic Power.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (17/2 -6%)Great Name That |
17/2(-6%) | (2) Great Name That 17/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ffos Las latest; blinkers first time; effective around 3m, acts on Hy, GS; outside chance back chasing. On a reduced mark but pulled up on stable debut and has plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/2 -33%)Ithaka |
5/2(-33%) | (1) Ithaka 5/2, Too keen but ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off 104 over 2m7f here last time; effective 2m7f/3m, acts on GS, G; struggled in one previous chase start but likes it here. Soundly beaten in 2023 in sole previous chase; good record over hurdles here last term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (15/8 +6%)Alltalknoaction |
15/8(+6%) | (3) Alltalknoaction 15/8, Promising chase debut when fourth beaten 15l in a handicap chase over 2m4f at Newcastle latest; effective around 2m4f, acts on GS; could improve up in trip. Point runner-up who is open to improvement now back up in trip on second chase start. |

JUKEBOX D'EDDY has finished second in all of his last four starts and the six-year-old will not find many better opportunities than this to go one better, especially as he may improve in a first-time visor. Ithaka occupied the runner-up berth over hurdles here when last seen in March and has to be noted with Sean Bowen booked. Alltalknoaction arguably has slightly less to prove than Great Name That of the remainder.

The step up in trip could be a positive move for the lightly raced 5yo ALLTALKNOACTION on his second chase start and he earns the vote.

1st (3) (10/11 +74%)Benmore |
10/11(+74%) | (3) Benmore 10/11, Made mistakes and needed the run on chase debut when well beaten in a 2m5f handicap chase at Carlisle last time. Effective over 2m to 2½m; this looks easier than debut but his jumping must improve. Low-mileage 5yo; sole attempt in cheekpieces resulted in his hurdles win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/4 +8%)Two To Tango |
6/4(+8%) | (4) Two To Tango 6/4, Had too much to do after a series of errors but ran to form on chase debut when 4¼l third in a Wincanton handicap chase last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and suited by a sound surface; consistent hurdler who may have more to offer over fences. Ran well at Wincanton switched to fences last time; may build on that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (6/1 -118%)Stroll On By |
6/1(-118%) | (1) Stroll On By 6/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Ludlow last time; effective at 2m and suited by a sound surface. Consistent performer over hurdles and fences; should give a good account. Has never won off a mark this high and he's conceding weight all round. |

Cases can be made for all of these, but the vote goes to TWO TO TANGO. Emma Lavelle's gelding showed plenty of promise when filling third place on his chasing bow at Wincanton last month and he is entitled to improve for that outing. Iskar D'airy would be a big threat if first-time cheekpieces spark a return to form, while Stroll On By edges out Benmore to be best of the rest.

Consistent TWO TO TANGO (nap) holds very solid claims in this field and is taken to get off the mark. Benmore is second pick.

7/2(+13%) | (4) Scorsese 7/2, Looked the likely winner when falling two out in a 2m3f Fontwell handicap chase last time; effective around 2m4f and acts on good to soft and good ground; has a chance if none the worse for that fall. Unexposed as a chaser; held narrow lead before penultimate-fence fall last month. |

4/1(+33%) | (7) Joe Cotton 4/1, Ran to form when 4 1/4l third in a 2m3f Fontwell handicap chase last time; visor applied for the first time; effective from 2m to 2m5f and acts on heavy and good ground; consistent performer. Landed good prize in March and returned from break with another two good runs this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (3/1 +10%)Kalif D'airy |
3/1(+10%) | (5) Kalif D'airy 3/1, Improved to win on chasing debut, landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off 107 at Lingfield last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on heavy and good ground; open to further progress over fences. Convincing winner on last month's seasonal/chase debut at Lingfield; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (8/1 -23%)Toothless |
8/1(-23%) | (2) Toothless 8/1, A bit keen but won cosily when landing a handicap by 22l off 110 at Plumpton last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on heavy and good ground; capable but faces a long absence. Off since wide-margin Plumpton win in May 2024 but subsequent 6lb rise is manageable. |

6th (3) (11/2 +0%)Sea Invasion |
11/2(+0%) | (3) Sea Invasion 11/2, Ran to form in a visor when winning a handicap by 1 1/4l off 113 over 3m2f at Plumpton last time; effective from 2m4f to 3m2f and acts on good to soft and good ground; may find this trip sharp enough on return, minus all headgear. Won two small-field 3m1f Plumpton chases in the spring; drops back in trip after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (18/1 +0%)South Omo Zone |
18/1(+0%) | (1) South Omo Zone 18/1, Produced a poor chase debut, reportedly bled when comfortably held in a 2m1f Worcester handicap chase last time; effective around 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground; can do better but has an absence to overcome. Won maiden hurdle here in January but tailed off when switched to fences in May. |

Course scorer Toothless is a must for the shortlist representing Paul Nicholls, but it's difficult to know what to expect on his return from 571 days off and perhaps the race-fit KALIF D'AIRY is the safer pick on the back of his impressive Lingfield triumph last month. Buoyed by his recent Grade 1 success in the Fighting Fifth, Jeremy Scott saddles two and Pilsdon Pen looks the pick of them under Golden Ace's jockey Lorcan Williams.

The pick is progressive 7yo JOE COTTON, who ran very well in defeat on both outings this autumn and has a good 7lb claimer booked.

4/7(+0%) | (3) Girls Best Friend 4/7, Improved to win on chasing debut when landing a handicap by 5l off 87 over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last time. Effective at 2m4f and acts on soft ground. Has much more to come over fences. Won by 5l at Uttoxeter on last week's chase debut and escapes a penalty today. |

3rd (1) (5/1 -25%)Forsa Bay |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Forsa Bay 5/1, Well below form when stepping up in grade and comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Wears a hood for the first time; effective at 2m1f and acts on good to soft. Has a bit to find now chasing. Struggled in both h'cap h'dles but promise previously; could get back on track after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (16/1 +52%)Lone Soldier |
16/1(+52%) | (6) Lone Soldier 16/1, Too keen, again below form comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Southwell last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on S, GS; others stronger. Returned from a long absence last month, when failing to shine on two outings over hurdles. |

5th (4) (18/1 +28%)Beat The Edge |
18/1(+28%) | (4) Beat The Edge 18/1, Below form and failed to get home when fourth beaten 28l in a handicap chase over 2m5f at Sedgefield last time. Wears a visor for the first time; effective up to 2m5f and acts on soft and good ground. Often finds little in the finish. On a handy mark but below par this autumn and hard to win with even when on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (18/1 +45%)Caro Des Flos |
18/1(+45%) | (5) Caro Des Flos 18/1, Won this race in both 2023 and 2024 but was pulled up in a handicap chase over 2m5f here last time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. Inconsistent performer who reserves his best for Market Rasen. Pulled up here on comeback but has won the last two runnings of this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/1 -56%)Lord Maher |
7/1(-56%) | (2) Lord Maher 7/1, Running well when coming down late in a handicap chase at Fontwell most recently. Effective from 2m to 2m2f and acts on good to soft and good ground. Inconsistent but capable of gaining compensation. Keeping on in second when brought down at the final fence at Fontwell last time. |

GIRLS BEST FRIEND impressed when scoring readily in a conditional riders' event at Uttoxeter last week and could be tough to deal with from the same mark. Lord Maher still held every chance when he was brought down at Fontwell on his most recent start and can also play a big part if avoiding trouble this time. Beat The Edge appeals as best of the rest, with a first-time visor noted as a potential source for improvement.

It is very hard to look beyond GIRLS BEST FRIEND, who is able to run off the same mark as for last week's 5l win on his chase debut.

Could go well again after that breakthrough win. Longstanding maiden prior to 12l win at Lingfield last week; leading player on form. |

2nd (3) (11/2 +80%)Fox Cottage |
11/2(+80%) | (3) Fox Cottage 11/2, No obvious excuse when fourth, beaten 45l in a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Lingfield last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and needs to find a bit more to get off the mark. Modest efforts this term but may do better now switched to handicap level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/4 +86%)Troop Ship |
9/4(+86%) | (4) Troop Ship 9/4, Too free and needed the run when down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Chepstow last time. Effective at around 2½m and acts on good to soft. Longer trip should help on handicap debut but improvement required. Weak claims on form but dipping into handicap waters may have positive effect. |

It was a modest race that GETAWAY WITH YOU won at Lingfield last week but it may serve as enough of a confidence booster for the gelding to follow up under a 7lb penalty in this similarly weak event. Blue Universe has been placed at a higher level in maiden company and can make this a good test for the selection, while Albie Littlewood may improve for stepping up in trip.

Skelton runner ALBIE LITTLEWOOD is particularly interesting with improvement highly likely. Getaway With You is second pick.

16/1(-113%) | (7) Of Corse I Can 16/1, Scored by 1/4l off 73 over 3m2f at Newton Abbot on his penultimate start but below form when racing again too soon last time. Effective from 3m to 3m2f, acts on good to soft and good ground, and better can be expected this time. Won twice over 3m2f in October but this race looks more competitive. |

16/1(-14%) | (5) Bebside Banter 16/1, Scored by 7l off 79 over 2m7f at Worcester on his penultimate start but below form when stepped up slightly in trip last time. Likes to make the running, effective between 2m4f and 3m, acts on soft and good ground, and could benefit from a return to fences. Made all in Worcester chase in October but well held over hurdles since; hard to predict. |

7th (6) (16/1 -78%)Unspeakable |
16/1(-78%) | (6) Unspeakable 16/1, Scored by a head off 81 over 3m1f at Hereford three starts back. Made late headway and wasn't far off form last time; effective from 3m to 3m2f, best on a sound surface, and generally consistent. Dug deep for Hereford win in October but would appeal more on genuine good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -40%)Miami Jim |
28/1(-40%) | (9) Miami Jim 28/1, Outpaced and again long way below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m at Uttoxeter last time. Effective between 3m and 3m4f, acts on good to soft and good to firm ground, and needs to bounce back. Well beaten on last two outings and now 0-11 under all codes; 3lb wrong here. |

9th (1) (9/1 +55%)Animal |
9/1(+55%) | (1) Animal 9/1, Again below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m4f at Fontwell last time. Usually held up and effective from 3m to 3m5f, acting on soft and good ground, but needs to rediscover old form to be competitive. Not the force of old but began season with two respectable runs in much stronger races. |

9/1(0%) | (3) Hobb's Delight 9/1, May have needed the run when pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Fontwell last time. Usually held up and effective between 2m4f and 3m, acts on soft and good ground, and could come on for that reappearance. Has mixed record over fences and was pulled up on seasonal debut; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (22/1 +33%)He'llstopatthetop |
22/1(+33%) | (10) He'llstopatthetop 22/1, Again well below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle over 3m1f at Plumpton last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time, effective around 3m on decent ground, but remains inconsistent. Soundly beaten on both starts for new stable this autumn (chase/hurdle); cheekpieces added. |

SPECIAL JOHN looks the one to be on. Sam Thomas' charge got his chasing career off to the best possible start at Exeter last month and strikes as the type who could kick on now through the handicap ranks. I'm Your Buckaroo arrives in good nick and might have something to say about that, while Of Corse I Can is noted too.

Unexposed 5yo TED THE THIEF (nap) ran well over 2m5f when switched to fences on handicap debut and might improve again over this trip.

3rd (1) (15/8 +63%)Chemical Dave |
15/8(+63%) | (1) Chemical Dave 15/8, Better than result, ran green when well beaten in a 4yo bumper at Doncaster only start; returning from long layoff; should be effective at 2m; improvement likely. Merely midfield when favourite on debut, but useful pedigree and not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 +50%)Midnight Escape |
6/1(+50%) | (4) Midnight Escape 6/1, £38,000 Getaway gelding; dam was a fair 2m4f-3m hurdles winner. Likely faces a tough enough task on debut. Dam 2m4f-3m hurdle winner; trainer isn't known for bumper winners nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (14/1 +58%)Exiguus |
14/1(+58%) | (2) Exiguus 14/1, Modest bumper debut when beaten 26l into fourth in a maiden bumper here on first start. Returning from a long layoff; effective over 2m1f on good to soft; can do better. Well-beaten fourth of seven at 28-1 on debut over C&D (good to soft) in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/1 +56%)Pic N Mix |
11/1(+56%) | (5) Pic N Mix 11/1, Modest debut when well beaten in a bumper over 2m at Sandown only start; should be effective at 2m; needs improvement. Down the field at 18-1 on last month's debut at Sandown; a big step forward is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (200/1 -100%)Potters Angeltiers |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Potters Angeltiers 200/1, Poor debut when well beaten in a 2m bumper at Southwell on only start. Should be effective at 2m but hard to fancy. Tailed off at 100-1 on debut at Southwell (2m, soft) three weeks ago; best watched. |

GET OUT OF MY WAY is closely related to plenty of winners and Fergal O'Brien's expensive newcomer is the first one to consider in an open race. Dan Skelton introduces the nicely-bred filly, Lady Boujee, who may emerge as the biggest danger to the selection on her racecourse bow. Chemical Dave and Exiguus are the pick of those with bumper experience.

The newcomer GET OUT OF MY WAY is a brother to his very talented stablemate Tripoli Flyer and gets the nod.

1st (6) (9/4 +32%)Olivia Kate |
9/4(+32%) | (6) Olivia Kate 9/4, Fell in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f at Ludlow last time when rallying late. Best around 2½m, acts on any ground, and looks well treated; may prefer going left-handed. Capable of being involved but is a quirky sort who comes with risk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 +0%)Out Of Focus |
5/2(+0%) | (4) Out Of Focus 5/2, Needed the run and travelled well to a point when fourth, beaten 12l, in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Ffos Las last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on heavy or soft; still a maiden but well treated on old form and can build on that reappearance. Bumper winner who is 0-11 over jumps; however, well treated on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 +57%)Hawk Stone |
6/1(+57%) | (1) Hawk Stone 6/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Chepstow last time; wears blinkers for the first time. Effective at 2m and suited by cut in the ground; drop in trip should help, though form had tailed off previously. Chance depends on whether first-time blinkers prompt a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/2 +50%)Mr Zee |
11/2(+50%) | (8) Mr Zee 11/2, Well beaten in a 1m7f handicap hurdle at Wincanton on his return to hurdling. Prefers to make the running; effective at 2m and handles any ground but currently out of sorts in both codes. Competitively weighted but has a doubt over current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (5/1 -25%)Just Aidan |
5/1(-25%) | (5) Just Aidan 5/1, Below form off a revised mark when comfortably held in a Ffos Las handicap hurdle last time, having been in good form previously. Effective at 2m and acts on heavy or good to soft; had been progressive before that run and needs to bounce back. Disappointing when last seen but may still have more to offer at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 -500%)Solanna |
20/1(-500%) | (2) Solanna 20/1, Improved from debut when fourth, beaten 16l, in a novice hurdle at Kempton last time. Effective at 2m over hurdles on a sound surface; multiple Flat winner who stays 2m well and could be well treated off this opening mark. Interesting off what looks a handy opening mark judged on his Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (22/1 +12%)Catalan King |
22/1(+12%) | (7) Catalan King 22/1, Pulled up in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time, possibly not staying the trip. Effective around 2m; showed promise on the Flat but still has plenty to prove over hurdles. Still has something to prove over hurdles. |

OLIVIA KATE is not without risk but has the ability to win a race of this nature, assuming she keeps her tendency to jump left under control. Matt Sheppard's mare was still very much in contention when she came down three out at Ludlow most recently and looks well worth another chance. Already a dual winner over hurdles, the returning Just Aidan is feared most. Out Of Focus is also of interest.

Eight-time Flat winner SOLANNA has a handy opening hurdles mark and gets the vote ahead of Out Of Focus.

12/1(+0%) | (5) Non Stop 12/1, Needed the run and may not have stayed when 15l third in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Plumpton latest; tongue-tie on for the first time; effective 2m-2m4f on soft or good to soft; generally consistent performer. Should benefit from this drop back in trip and run his race but others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (14/1 -17%)Came From Nowhere |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Came From Nowhere 14/1, Below form and likely needed the run when 26l third in a 2m maiden hurdle at Chepstow most recently; effective at 2m and acts with cut; could do better now handicapping. Bumper winner; placed in all three hurdle races; major player on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 -33%)Doctors Hill |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Doctors Hill 4/1, Ran to form, off the mark when winning a novice hurdle at Chepstow over 2m by 4 1/4l last time; effective 2m, acts on S, G; type to improve again now handicapping. Clear winner of Chepstow novice a fortnight ago; open to more progress in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (13/8 +7%)Surrey Lord |

Improving 6yo who has won twice this autumn and is 6lb ahead of the handicapper here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (20/1 +0%)The Gray Ghost |
20/1(+0%) | (2) The Gray Ghost 20/1, Ran to form and looked in need of a stiffer test when fourth beaten 6 1/2l in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Aintree last time; effective 2m-2m4f on good to soft or good; drop in trip looks a negative. 1-7 over hurdles; gave good account over 2m4f last time; this trip may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (8/1 +0%)Meatloaf |
8/1(+0%) | (1) Meatloaf 8/1, Yard won this last year; did plenty early, back from a break after a wind operation when fourth beaten 19l in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Newbury last time; effective 2m-2m4f on decent ground; should come on for the run. Dual novice winner in 2023-24 season; back from long break with respectable run this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (22/1 +56%)Balboa |
22/1(+56%) | (6) Balboa 22/1, Too keen and below form when well held in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot last time; effective 2m-2m4f on soft or good; easing in the weights but needs to show more. Returns from six-month break on good mark but others have much less to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (11/1 -69%)Dirty Den |
11/1(-69%) | (9) Dirty Den 11/1, Improved again, looked in need of stiffer test when beaten a length off 105 over 2m1f at Exeter last time; effective 2m-2m3f, suited by sound surface; respected up just 3lb. Runner-up in two big-field handicaps (2m3f/2m) since rejoining Syd Hosie this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (5/1 +75%)Thistle Be The One |
5/1(+75%) | (8) Thistle Be The One 5/1, Needed the run when comfortably held in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Ascot last time; cheekpieces applied for the first time; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m4f on soft or good; easing in the weights but more required. Shaped well on seasonal/stable debut and some of last season's novice form reads well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (50/1 -150%)Midnight Rumble |
50/1(-150%) | (7) Midnight Rumble 50/1, Ran as though something was amiss when down the field in a 12f handicap at Newbury last time; effective at 2m over hurdles on good to soft; has a bit to prove. Useful Flat racer; still unexposed over hurdles; needs to rebound from a poor Flat run. |

SURREY LORD can land this handicap hurdle finale. Toby Lawes' inmate arrives in really good form having proved his Ffos Las success was no fluke when winning stylishly at Kempton last time. That effort suggests there could be more in the locker and he gets the nod ahead of Chepstow winner Doctors Hill. Keep an eye on Dirty Den as well.

Handicap debutant CAME FROM NOWHERE was third in two good maidens last year and also looked promising when reappearing last month.

3/1(+40%) | (4) Solar Invincible 3/1, Ran to form when tried in cheekpieces and beaten a length off 59 at Lingfield last time; effective at 5/6f and acts on the all-weather; more to come. 6lb better off for one length with Beach Partee on latest Lingfield run; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -50%)Filly Foden |
9/2(-50%) | (3) Filly Foden 9/2, Too keen but ran to form when beaten 3/4l off 61 at Wolverhampton last time; wide draw; effective 5/6f, best on a sound surface; generally consistent, mark about right. Runner-up in a Class 4 on Monday but she's exposed now and may remain vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (13/2 -18%)Sunlit Sea |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Sunlit Sea 13/2, Not get home back up in trip when beaten a length off 59 over 6f at Wolverhampton last time; trainer in form; effective at 5/5f, acts on AW; drop to 5f a plus. Promising front-running third (wide draw; 6f) on nursery debut; looks quick enough for 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/4 +31%)Mad Unicorn |
11/4(+31%) | (6) Mad Unicorn 11/4, Improved when scoring cosily by a length off 51 at Wolverhampton last time; ridden by a top course jockey; suited by 5/6f and acts on the all-weather; strong sort with a bit more to come. Two Wolverhampton wins, the latest on stable debut 12 days ago; 6lb rise asks more of her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (14/1 -133%)Baileys Ontherocks |
14/1(-133%) | (2) Baileys Ontherocks 14/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 3l, in a novice at Lingfield last time; effective at 5f and acts on the all-weather; could do better now handicapping. Two promising novice runs on AW at Lingfield; not obviously well treated for nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (28/1 -27%)Ken Brulee |
28/1(-27%) | (7) Ken Brulee 28/1, Ran to debut level when beaten 6l in a novice at Lingfield last time; plenty of speed in his pedigree; could do better now handicapping. More realistic task now handicapping but still easy enough to swerve after 3 modest runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (10/3 +49%)Beach Partee |
10/3(+49%) | (1) Beach Partee 10/3, Improved when landing a handicap by a length off 63 at Lingfield last time; effective at 5/6f and acts on the all-weather; more to come at this trip. 3-5 since headgear went on; this tougher under penalty but well drawn and still on the up. |

Beach Partee beat Solar Invincible by a length to make it two wins from his last three starts at Lingfield last time and is expected to confirm that form. However, FILLY FODEN outran her odds of 33/1 to finish just over two lengths clear of the third when second at Wolverhampton earlier in the week and a similar performance might suffice. Mad Unicorn struck at the same venue last month and is another to consider.

This is tougher for BEACH PARTEE but he is on the up and is well drawn to attack. He can prove too strong for Sunlit Sea.

11/2(-38%) | (5) Cool Molly 11/2, Made too much use of and tired late when 6l third in a novice at Kempton last time; wide draw; effective at 5f; needs to settle and conserve energy. Promise on second start and then went off too hard at Kempton last time; can do better. |

4th (1) (66/1 -100%)Angel Summer |
66/1(-100%) | (1) Angel Summer 66/1, Fair effort, just tiring late when beaten 9 1/4l in a maiden at Southwell on debut; should be effective at sprint trips but needs to find much more. Thick end of 7l behind Zoustar Dreams on last month's Southwell debut; improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/5 +64%)Zoustar Dreams |
6/5(+64%) | (4) Zoustar Dreams 6/5, Touch keen, every chance when 1 1/4l third in a maiden over 5f at Newcastle most recent run; top course jockey; effective at 5/6f, acts on AW; chance in an ordinary race. In the frame on last two starts; returning to 6f will suit and more appealing than many. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 +20%)Ealhswith |
4/1(+20%) | (2) Ealhswith 4/1, Green, field always going a stride too quick when beaten 4 1/4l in a maiden at Goodwood on debut; trainer in form; sire sprinter, dam stayed 11f; improvement likely. 20-1 and always in rear when last of six at Goodwood in May (6f, good); should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 -56%)Sirhana |
25/1(-56%) | (7) Sirhana 25/1, 15 Mar; Profitable filly; dam modest at 7/8f, related to a winner up to 2m; probably best watched on debut. First foal of a maiden half-sister to two useful winners; apprentice-ridden on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (80/1 -60%)Untilwemeetagain |
80/1(-60%) | (10) Untilwemeetagain 80/1, Blinkered debut, very green early and adrift when beaten 7l in a maiden at Wolverhampton on debut; sire sprinter and dam stayed 10f; major improvement required. Down the field on recent Wolverhampton debut (6f); blinkers worn there are now left off. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (100/1 -257%)Escape Magic |
100/1(-257%) | (6) Escape Magic 100/1, Tired late after running quite well for a long way when beaten 9l in a novice at Kempton last time; wide draw; bred to get 6f; faces a tough task. Modest form in two novice runs on Polytrack in recent months; improvement essential. |

Cool Molly has shown ability in her three career outings, most recently making the frame at Kempton, and she is likely to be thereabouts. Zoustar Dreams possesses a similar profile but was third when favourite at Newcastle, so it may pay to side with EALHSWITH. The Gosdens' juvenile finished last of six on debut at Goodwood in May but returns from a break and it would be no surprise to see her take a big step forward.

Zoustar Dreams and Ealhswith are considered but THREE NON BLONDES and Luna Celeste are notable newcomers.

11/4(+54%) | (4) Capichera 11/4, Closed late and made a promising debut when 4 1/4l fourth in a novice over 7f at Newmarket first time out. Trainer in form; bred for 10f+ and open to marked improvement with the longer trip likely to suit. Good late headway into fourth at Newmarket (7f) last month; lots more to come over 1m+. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (6/5 +80%)Venetia |
6/5(+80%) | (10) Venetia 6/5, Very creditable effort, made plenty of use of when second beaten 4l in a maiden at Kempton latest. Ridden by a top course jockey; wide draw but stays at least 8f, bred to get further, with more to come. Bumped into a potentially smart filly at Kempton last month; leading contender. |

5th (5) (8/1 +60%)Cherry Baker |
8/1(+60%) | (5) Cherry Baker 8/1, Produced a solid effort, running to the form of her second start when beaten 4l in a maiden over 7f at Newmarket last time. 125/1(-56%) | (1) Al Amirah 125/1, Green, got behind after a poor break and looked to need further when beaten 10l in a novice at Kempton on debut. Has a wide draw and is bred to want at least 10f; the type to improve over further as a 3yo. 80-1, last of 6 in Kempton fillies' novice in October (1m); marked improvement is required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (150/1 -436%)Love Me Bae |
150/1(-436%) | (6) Love Me Bae 150/1, 11 Mar; Nando Parrado filly; dam unraced half-sister to a fair 7f winner; set to struggle on debut. First foal of an unraced half-sister to a 7f winner; only of interest if backed. |

Blackisthenewblack improved on her debut sixth at Kempton to finish third at Newcastle last month and may get closer, but a chance can be taken on newcomer SYMBOL OF MAJESTY. The daughter of New Bay is a half-sister to an all-weather Listed scorer in Military Academy and Fillies' Mile winner Commissioning, so she could outclass these on debut. Venetia is going the right way and is another to keep an eye on.

Venetia should give it another good go but CAPICHERA was finishing with real purpose on her debut and can take a step forward.

8th (10) (16/1 -146%)Merrimack |
16/1(-146%) | (10) Merrimack 16/1, Scored with something to spare when landing a handicap by 2 1/4l off 65 at Brighton last time; trained by a top course trainer; has a wide draw; suited by 5f and acts on any surface; best when making the running. All wins on turf but is effective over C&D; 7lb rise for latest win leaves him vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (12/1 -20%)Cressida Wildes |
12/1(-20%) | (2) Cressida Wildes 12/1, Bit below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; had been in good form prior and comes from a stable going well; suited by 5f and just gets an easy 6f; needs to bounce back. Not at best on AW last time; earlier turf form was better; high enough in weights though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (40/1 -186%)Ancient Times |
40/1(-186%) | (11) Ancient Times 40/1, Below form after blowing the start when beaten 6l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; suited by 5/6f and acts on the all-weather; racing from just below his last winning mark. Blew the start at Lingfield last time; feasible mark but others look safer. |

Nemov and Panelli both make their first appearances for the Stuart Williams yard and the market could be informative, but they might be up against it with their stablemate CHERRY COBBLER. The son of Zoustar finished a close third on handicap debut over 6f at this venue in October and his maiden victory came over this distance, so he could be the one to beat. Cressida Wildes completes the shortlist.

The unexposed CHERRY COBBLER (nap) gets the vote ahead of Twilight Fun and Almaty Star.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (33/1 -106%)Moostar |
33/1(-106%) | (8) Moostar 33/1, Again well below form when beaten 6 1/4l in a handicap at Southwell last time; tongue-tie first time; effective at 6f, acts on AW; has a lot to prove. Not fired in either run for James Owen this autumn; now tried in a tongue tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (12/1 -336%)Spring Bloom |
12/1(-336%) | (2) Spring Bloom 12/1, No obvious excuse when beaten 7l in a handicap at Newmarket last time; effective at 6f, acts on AW; down to an attractive mark but in moderate form of late. Not at best on turf last time but he's on a lowly mark and a revival could be imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (20/1 -122%)Juno Star |
20/1(-122%) | (9) Juno Star 20/1, Scored by 1/2l off 49 over 5f at Southwell in October; a bit below form last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on AW; needs to bounce back. 5f win at Southwell in October but not kicked on since; return to 6f needs to lift her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (13/2 +19%)Invincible Melody |
13/2(+19%) | (7) Invincible Melody 13/2, Below form, visor didn't work as well a second time when well beaten in a handicap over 7f here latest; top course jockey and trainer combination; wide draw; effective at 6/7f, acts on AW; needs to bounce back. 12-race maiden; often placed but needs to bounce back from a weak finish 12 weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 +40%)Baba Reza |
9/2(+40%) | (1) Baba Reza 9/2, Again below 2024 best when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap at Southwell last time; effective at 6f, acts on AW; unreliable but fairly treated if bouncing back. Conditions to suit and drops into his first 0-70; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (13/2 -18%)Danger Alert |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Danger Alert 13/2, Ran to form when beaten 2l off 67 at Lingfield last time; suited by 5/6f, acts on AW; generally in solid form. Hard to win with; running okay of late but others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/4 +63%)Supreme King |
9/4(+63%) | (3) Supreme King 9/4, Still below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time; effective at 6/7f, acts on AW; needs more. Not at best of late but he is thrown in on this year's best; one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (50/1 -213%)Koge |
50/1(-213%) | (6) Koge 50/1, Below form on handicap debut when down the field in a handicap over 8f at Southwell most recently; effective at 8f, acts on AW; must bounce back. Disappointing for former yard but down in trip on stable debut & it may suit; check market. |

Invincible Melody finished second over this distance at Windsor in September before being well beaten over 7f here, so is one to note back at this trip. However, DANGER ALERT remains on a tempting mark after his respectable fourth at Lingfield last month. George Baker's five-year-old has struck twice on the all-weather and he could improve on that record here. Baba Reza is another to note.

Dropped in grade, SUPREME KING can take advantage of a lowly mark. Spring Bloom is next best but money for Koge should be noted

11/4(+58%) | (2) Dark Side Thunder 11/4, Just about to form and up in grade when beaten 2l off 71 at Southwell last time. Effective at 6/7f, acts on a sound surface and all-weather, and is consistent, just below his last winning mark. On a good mark, effective on AW and well drawn; contender down in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (9/2 +31%)Havana Gila |
9/2(+31%) | (8) Havana Gila 9/2, Game and ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off 61 at Wolverhampton last time. Effective at 6/7f, acts on a sound surface and all-weather, and has shown more like it in her latest couple of starts. Losing run stands at 16 but she has been threatening in recent starts; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4/1 +20%)Emperor's Son |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Emperor's Son 4/1, Looked unlucky when beaten a neck off 67 over 5f here last time. Effective at 5/6f and best on a sound surface, with compensation looking possible. No win since debut but runner-up over 5f here last month; step back up in trip a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (11/1 +8%)Mu Mu Land |
11/1(+8%) | (7) Mu Mu Land 11/1, Ran to 2025 level when beaten 3 1/2l off 64 at Newcastle last time. Effective at 6/7f and acts on a sound surface, with his mark continuing to slide. 6f AW maiden win last autumn; handicapper in command this year; others more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 +68%)Lightning Bear |
9/2(+68%) | (1) Lightning Bear 9/2, Below form but with excuses when beaten 4l off 75 over 5f at Lingfield last time. Effective at 5/6f, acts on a sound surface, and the step back up in trip may help. Latest run not without hope and another 5lb drop helps matters; interesting back at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/1 -64%)Due Date |
9/1(-64%) | (4) Due Date 9/1, Improved again when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 62 here last time. Wide draw, but suited by 6f and acts on a sound surface. Four-timer possible despite a 5lb rise. Completed a hat-trick here five weeks ago; 5lb rise/stronger opposition may find him out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/1 -13%)Ezra Cee |
9/1(-13%) | (6) Ezra Cee 9/1, Bit below form when tried in new headgear combination, beaten 5l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Suited by 6f and acts on a sound surface, with his mark now easing. None too consistent but on a lowly mark; experiment with accessories quickly aborted. |

Due Date completed a hat-trick over track and trip on his most recent start and is sure to attract plenty of support, but he has a tricky draw in stall eight. With that in mind, HAVANA GILA looks the way to go. Harry Eustace's filly produced a better display to fill the runner-up spot at Wolverhampton and she is 1lb well in here. Of the remainder, Emperor's Son makes the most appeal.

The handicapper is giving a helping hand to LIGHTNING BEAR who may be able to capitalise now stepping back up in trip.

14/1(+13%) | (11) Chloe's Courage 14/1, Below form after a slow start when beaten 6l in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Blinkers on for the first time. Trainer in good form. Effective at 6/8f and acts on all-weather. Needs to bounce back. 0-11 but placed in five handicaps; no show on Tuesday and blinkers now replace cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/1 +42%)Cill Mocheallog |
7/1(+42%) | (4) Cill Mocheallog 7/1, Rallied and ran to form when beaten 4l off 60 at Lingfield last time. Blinkers applied for the first time. Effective at 7f and handles all-weather surfaces. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 +0%)Bad Habits |
10/1(+0%) | (9) Bad Habits 10/1, Ran to form up in trip when beaten 1/2l off 52 at Southwell last time. Effective at 6/7f and best on all-weather. One to consider on recent efforts. 0-14 overall but he's not been far away on his last three starts, particularly latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (11/2 +21%)Vitalline |
11/2(+21%) | (10) Vitalline 11/2, Too keen but made late headway when beaten 3 1/4l off 46 at Wolverhampton last time. Drawn wide but effective at 6-7f and suited by the all-weather. Capable off this mark. Looked in good form at Wolverhampton on Monday, travelling strongly but with no daylight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/1 +36%)Respectable Jack |
7/1(+36%) | (7) Respectable Jack 7/1, Stopped quickly, well below form when down the field in a handicap over 6f at Yarmouth most recent; cheekpieces first time; effective at 6/7f, acts on GS, AW; bounce back needed up in trip. 0-9; second on Kempton Polytrack (6f) in September; tailed off latest; cheekpieces go on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (4/1 +38%)Tam Lin |
4/1(+38%) | (5) Tam Lin 4/1, Improved with a good attitude down in trip when winning a handicap by 1/2l off 53 here last time. Effective at 7/8f and acts on all-weather. Respected under a penalty. C&D win last week; 6lb penalty but peak Irish form still makes him look well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (7/2 +30%)Onemorenomore |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Onemorenomore 7/2, Best run since spring when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off 59 at Southwell last time; wide draw; effective 6/7f, acts on any; respected under penalty. Career-low mark at Southwell (7f, Tapeta) eight days ago, off mark on AW at ninth attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (12/1 -41%)Edergole's Gift |
12/1(-41%) | (3) Edergole's Gift 12/1, Scored by 3 1/4l off 52 here on her penultimate start but below form last time. Effective at 6/7f and handles a sound surface. Needs to find more off this mark. Pretty reliable since the tongue-tie went on six starts ago, including for a C&D win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (50/1 -25%)Sold Out |
50/1(-25%) | (12) Sold Out 50/1, Too keen and again well below form when tried in cheekpieces, beaten 7l in a 6f handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Has speed in his pedigree but yet to find suitable conditions. Hard to fancy. Handicap debut wasn't without hope but he's failed to back it up on either start since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (12/1 -50%)Diligent Henry |
12/1(-50%) | (8) Diligent Henry 12/1, Scored by 3/4l off 50 at Wolverhampton three starts back; bit below best back down in trip on turf sixth beaten 3l off 55 last time; wide draw; best at 7f, acts on AW; return to this trip on AW will suit. Both wins were 7f on Wolverhampton Tapeta; chance on that form and close on sole run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (16/1 -220%)Toussarok |
16/1(-220%) | (2) Toussarok 16/1, Won by 3l off 52 at Wolverhampton three starts ago and bounced back to form when fifth last time. Effective at 6/7f and acts on a sound surface. Mark still workable. Penultimate start (bled from the nose) interrupted a pretty solid sequence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (40/1 -122%)Nubough |
40/1(-122%) | (6) Nubough 40/1, Probably needed the run when beaten 4l off 59 here last time. Effective at 6/7f and acts on all-weather. Erratic type and mark looks stiff. 3-17 record here includes wins this March/May; others may be a bit better handicapped. |

Onemorenomore and Tam Lin both have to be respected on the back of recent victories, but the penalties they carry could leave them vulnerable. With that in mind, preference is for BAD HABITS, who was only narrowly denied when filling third place over 7f at Southwell last week. Off the same mark here, it would be no surprise to see Ruth Carr's gelding earn his first victory.

Most have reasonable each-way claims. Last week's C&D scorer TAM LIN remains well treated on his best Irish form and may score again.

More to prove over this far but in reasonable form; first visor replaces other headgear. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (13/2 +35%)Kathleen Mary |
13/2(+35%) | (7) Kathleen Mary 13/2, Below form on ground too soft when comfortably held in a handicap at Windsor last time. In good form prior and returning from a break. Effective up to 10f and acts on AW. Could bounce back if ready. Soundly beaten on turf for handicap debut in July; return to AW presumably gives some hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (20/1 -25%)Alpine Oasis |
20/1(-25%) | (2) Alpine Oasis 20/1, Down in trip and improved on return when beaten 3l off 75 over 9f at Wolverhampton last time. Effective 10-12f; all form on AW. Respected if building on that run. First run since she left Karl Burke for 8,000gns; best efforts make this look a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (50/1 -25%)Yokkell |
50/1(-25%) | (6) Yokkell 50/1, Made no impact from off the pace when stepped up in trip and down the field over 11f at Kempton last time. Effective at 8f and acts on any surface. Out of form since spring but has dropped in the weights. Irish AW winner; also won at Nottingham in May but has gone the wrong way since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (9/1 +25%)Brave Byreflection |
9/1(+25%) | (5) Brave Byreflection 9/1, Took a step back in the right direction when beaten 2l off 74 over 8f at Kempton last time. Hood first time. Suited by 7/8f and acts on a sound surface, but has a bit to prove over this trip. Unraced here but the first of her two wins (11 races) was on Kempton Polytrack; first hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (7/1 -27%)Beauty By My Side |
7/1(-27%) | (3) Beauty By My Side 7/1, Produced her best run since summer, staying on late in cheekpieces when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off 71 over 8f here last time. Effective at 8f and acts on AW. More to offer at this trip. Mixed fortunes but first-time cheekpieces saw her score here (1m) on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (7/1 -27%)Golden Phase |
7/1(-27%) | (9) Golden Phase 7/1, Did well considering an early stumble when 5 1/4l third in a handicap at Newbury last time. Top course jockey booked. Returning from a break. Effective 10-12f and acts on AW. Respected if fit. Turf winner; 0-8 record on AW (unraced here) includes three 2nds, so needs a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (33/1 -32%)Flaine |
33/1(-32%) | (10) Flaine 33/1, Scored by a head off 66 over 9f at Wolverhampton three starts back but below form last time. Blinkers first time. Usually held up. Effective 8-10f and acts on AW. Needs more. Two narrow 9.4f wins on Wolverhampton AW before two lesser shows; different headgear now. |

BEAUTY BY MY SIDE has a very good record on the all-weather and that includes a victory over 1m here when last seen in October. This step up in trip may bring about further improvement from the three-year-old and that can help her to defy a 3lb rise. The consistent Lady Of Arabia is likely to be in the mix once again, while Amica and Live Each Day are others with strong claims.

Beauty By My Side is second choice to AMICA. Both ran well last time and look interesting upped in trip.

11/2(+66%) | (11) Muhib 11/2, Made late headway and produced his best run since spring when fourth, beaten 6l, in a handicap here last time. Effective at 10f and acts on the all-weather. Could progress again. 13-race maiden and he's been well held in last seven runs; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (50/1 +0%)Stormy Lady |
50/1(+0%) | (14) Stormy Lady 50/1, Below form and didn't stay when comfortably held in a 12f handicap at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces applied for the first time. 12th (4) (8/1 +20%)Al Shabab |
8/1(+20%) | (4) Al Shabab 8/1, Won by 1 1/4l off 47 at Lingfield on his penultimate start and wasn't beaten far last time. Effective up to 10f and acts on most surfaces including the all-weather. Still looks on a competitive mark. Won at Lingfield (1m2f) in October and wasn't beaten far there last time; possibilities. |

DINGWALL was first past the post when bidding for a hat-trick at Wolverhampton earlier in the week. That said, he was demoted to second by the stewards and he could provide his supporters with some compensation on this occasion. Seconds Count has to be noted on her debut for these connections given her consistent form earlier in the year. Others who make the shortlist are Beachborough Girl, Al Shabab and Lady Aiyana.

Preference is DINGWALL, who won two in a row at Wolverhampton last month and was first past the post in hat-trick bid there on Monday.
Ths is the racecard key.
