1st (3) (9/1 +10%)Kiss My Face |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Kiss My Face 9/1, Won by 1 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Wetherby three starts ago; made mistakes but ran to form when fifth beaten 5 1/4l off 111 last time; suited by 3m on a sound surface; inconsistent veteran currently in form. In-form candidate; should be seriously involved but a bit extra may now be needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 +13%)Douglas Hyde |
7/2(+13%) | (5) Douglas Hyde 7/2, Ran to form when 19l third in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow on his latest start; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good ground; consistent and should remain competitive. 2nd or 3rd all starts under rules; handicap debut and new trip could both be a help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/4 +61%)Clondaw Royale |
11/4(+61%) | (6) Clondaw Royale 11/4, Won this race last year; may have found the ground too fast when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Worcester last time; effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, acts on soft and good to soft; form tailed off during the summer when last seen. Won this (soft) last year; 6lb lower today, off 181 days and yard back among the winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +36%)Guchen |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Guchen 9/2, Outpaced then rallied and looked in need of a stiffer test when beaten 5l in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon last time; trainer in form; effective at around 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good to soft; consistent and worth stepping up in trip. No impact in handicaps but there was clear encouragement last time for this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (40/1 -300%)Inis Oirr |
40/1(-300%) | (1) Inis Oirr 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Musselburgh last time; very well treated on chase form but all best efforts have come right handed; risky. Badly out of sorts again last week; returns to hurdling for first time since March 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (20/1 -264%)Maura Jeanne |
20/1(-264%) | (7) Maura Jeanne 20/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 3lb lower mark at Hexham last time; returns from a short break; effective at 3m, acts on soft and good ground; in fair form though her mark demands more. Back near her best when second at Hexham on latest start; each-way candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (5/2 -43%)Nazare |
5/2(-43%) | (2) Nazare 5/2, Outpaced and forced to switch before improving to land a handicap by a neck off a 4lb lower mark at Southwell last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on good to soft; progressing and may do better again over 3m. Won over about 2m4f in his two handicaps; tapped for toe turning for home last time. |

The hat-trick seeking Nazare is an obvious choice and may well have plenty more to offer. However, it's also possible the odds available will be cramped for one who is significantly stepping up in trip. Therefore, a chance is taken that reverting to hurdles can reignite the fire for INIS OIRR, a proven stayer who has faced deeper tests in the not too distant past. Kiss My Face and Douglas Hyde also warrant betting checks.

James Owen's NAZARE takes a step up in trip in his hat-trick bid and it looks well worth a go. Clondaw Royale won this race in 2024.

33/1(+0%) | (8) Madame De Labrunie 33/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in the Listed Fillies' Juvenile Hurdle at Newbury last time. Effective at 2m and suited by cut; fairly treated on these terms on flat form; needs this drop in grade. Hurdle winner in France; well beaten in Listed race on British debut; this is easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 -33%)Bellator Bullet |
10/3(-33%) | (1) Bellator Bullet 10/3, Ran to form when second, beaten 1/2l, in a handicap at Newmarket (July) last time. Progressive stayer has joined top jumps yard since. Returning from a break and could figure on hurdle debut. In career-best form when last seen on the Flat in August (RPR 78); hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 +25%)Bouquet De Paris |
9/1(+25%) | (2) Bouquet De Paris 9/1, Improved from debut when allowed an easy lead and beaten 6 1/4l in a juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen last time. Hood applied for the first time; yet to prove stamina for 2m and best watched for now. Soundly beaten on hurdle debut but this month's Market Rasen fifth was quite promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -118%)Golden Garden |
12/1(-118%) | (4) Golden Garden 12/1, Made too much use of when fourth, beaten 5l, in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. 14f winner on the flat. Trainer in form and returning from a break; has an outside chance. Fair form when winning over 1m6f on AW in September; a possible on AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (250/1 -150%)Launceston |
250/1(-150%) | (7) Launceston 250/1, Pulled up in a juvenile hurdle at Fontwell last time. Acts on fast ground but has stamina to prove over hurdles. Placed in low-grade Flat handicap in summer but pulled up on recent stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (1/1 +56%)Innamorato |
1/1(+56%) | (5) Innamorato 1/1, Yard has won two of the last five runnings of this race. Ran to form when third, beaten 2 1/4l, in a juvenile hurdle at Clairefontaine most recently. Returning from a break; effective at 2m and acts with cut. Showed promise in France with more to come for new yard. Made the frame in both French hurdling starts and is now with a top British stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (33/1 -175%)Enziya |
33/1(-175%) | (3) Enziya 33/1, Outclassed and well beaten in a juvenile hurdle at Sandown last time. This is his second run after wind surgery; effective over 14f on the Flat and looks one for handicaps over hurdles. Dual Flat winner in Ireland but showed only minor promise on first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (250/1 -150%)Lamlash |
250/1(-150%) | (6) Lamlash 250/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability. Returning from a short break and has it all to do on hurdle debut. Well beaten in two Flat maidens for Stan Moore this autumn; overlooked on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (300/1 -355%)Ta Craic Ann |
300/1(-355%) | (10) Ta Craic Ann 300/1, Far too free and didn't stay when finishing down the field in a handicap at Lingfield last time. Showed nothing on the flat. Returning from a break and has it all to do. Unplaced all nine Flat starts and makes no appeal on hurdling debut. |

BELLATOR BULLET seemed to appreciate stepping up in trip on the Flat, winning twice over 1m6f, and it would be no surprise if Dan Skelton's gelding made a winning start in this sphere. Golden Garden boasts a similar profile to the selection and has to be respected along with Innamorato, who placed on his last outing in France. Others to note are Madame De Labrunie and Bouquet De Paris.

Paul Nicholls' new recruit INNAMORATO began his hurdling career with two very promising runs in France last summer and gets the vote.

1st (2) (4/5 +42%)Captain Hugo |
4/5(+42%) | (2) Captain Hugo 4/5, Ran to form when second, beaten 4 1/4l, in a novice hurdle at Aintree last time. Effective at 2m, acts on good to soft and good ground; debut form has been franked and he remains in good form. Turned over at 4-6 at Aintree (2m1f, soft) but he's still one of the leading contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (6/1 +8%)Wolf Walker |
6/1(+8%) | (10) Wolf Walker 6/1, Ran to the level of his chase form on hurdle debut when second, beaten 2 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Hereford last time. Trainer in form; effective at 2-3m, multiple point winner, and likely to find this an inadequate test but should have more to offer over hurdles. Second in a maiden at Hereford (2m, good to soft; 28-1) on yard debut puts him in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/2 -17%)The Cistercian |
7/2(-17%) | (3) The Cistercian 7/2, Travelled well and improved for testing ground on stable debut when winning a maiden hurdle at Leicester by 12l last time. Effective at 2m, acts on any ground; progressive type with more to come for his new yard. 12l win in maiden at Leicester (1m7f, heavy) on yard debut; tended to jump to his left. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (50/1 -25%)Timmys Jet Away |
50/1(-25%) | (8) Timmys Jet Away 50/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 16l, in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Handles ground with cut and is likely to need further in time. Irish point win; bit promise in both hurdles starts but others have accomplished much more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (200/1 -203%)Gaelic Glow |
200/1(-203%) | (5) Gaelic Glow 200/1, Outpaced and never threatened, finishing down the field in a novice hurdle at Wetherby most recently. Usually held up; effective at 2m on good ground but needs to find improvement. Some promise but needs to improve his jumping and looks much more of a handicap prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -200%)Golden Prince |
150/1(-200%) | (6) Golden Prince 150/1, Outpaced but showed minor promise on debut when fourth, beaten 16l, in a novice hurdle at Leicester last time. Acts on soft ground and may want further in time. 4th of six at Leicester (1m7f, soft) last time was better but he needs to find vastly more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (200/1 -400%)Moonlightinthepark |
200/1(-400%) | (11) Moonlightinthepark 200/1, Keen and ran to form when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Ludlow last time. Wears a hood for the first time; acts on soft ground and may find 2m on the sharp side. 15l defeats in both starts over hurdles; needs transformation with today's first-time hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (125/1 -89%)Boston Savr |
125/1(-89%) | (4) Boston Savr 125/1, Outpaced and modest on debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Southwell on his only start; likely to need more time. 17-2 from 14-1 for a maiden at Southwell (2m, good to soft) 16 days ago but always behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 -52%)U S Marshall |
50/1(-52%) | (9) U S Marshall 50/1, Outpaced and below form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Carlisle last time. Effective at 2m, acts on heavy ground, and should improve for further than 2m in handicaps in time. £55,000 buy after Irish point win; neither hurdles start gives him serious form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (7/2 +13%)Brixson |
7/2(+13%) | (1) Brixson 7/2, Quickened clear, helped by a late faller, and improved under a positive ride when winning a novice hurdle at Market Rasen by 7l last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, and can improve again when stepped up in trip. Easily justified favouritism at Market Rasen; can do better but this is a stronger race. |

CAPTAIN HUGO ran too freely when he was turned over as the 4/6 favourite in a three-runner event at Aintree 24 days ago and may be worth forgiving that reversal. The winner of that race has great potential and this quick return could be a shrewd move to keep the lightly-raced son of Soldier Of Fortune successfully ticking over while he continues to learn his trade. Fellow last-time winner The Cistercian and The Egyptian Ginge, who drops in class, are other notable prospects worthy of consideration.

The biggest question may well be whether THE CISTERCIAN can serve up the same on today's ground as he did on heavy going at Leicester.

1st (12) (11/8 +80%)Religous Cross |
11/8(+80%) | (12) Religous Cross 11/8, Green and raced lazily but made a very promising debut when second beaten 2 1/4l in a bumper here last time. More to come over hurdles from point winner so not dismissed. Won a British point; second favourite when second of 11 in a bumper here (good to firm). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 +44%)Knock Off Soxs |
5/4(+44%) | (1) Knock Off Soxs 5/4, Quickened clear readily and ran to form, suited by a positive ride at this sharp track when winning a novice hurdle here by 2l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; a nice recruit to hurdles who could defy the penalty. Improvement is probably necessary after 2m win here but he's a serious each-way contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (33/1 +0%)Bye Bye Salam |
33/1(+0%) | (5) Bye Bye Salam 33/1, Well beaten in a novice hurdle here last time. Poor on the flat prior to that. Trainer in form but has a bit to find to feature. Modest Flat maiden at up to 2m1f; Knock Off Soxs was just over 17l ahead on hurdle debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/1 +36%)Crystello |

Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good ground; should improve for a step up in trip. His third hurdle race; work to do over new trip with tongue-tie on; yard runs two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (16/1 -33%)Lake Tiberias |
16/1(-33%) | (10) Lake Tiberias 16/1, Every chance and ran to form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; in fair form but probably one for handicaps. Half-brother to very useful Ahorsewithnoname; still time to come good but maybe not today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (25/1 +50%)Hadrianus |
25/1(+50%) | (8) Hadrianus 25/1, Yard won this race last year. Poor debut when down the field in a novice hurdle at Wincanton, possibly not staying the trip. Useful on the Flat prior to a layoff; joined a good yard but has stamina to prove over hurdles. Useful on Flat in 2023; 28-1, no show in a Wincanton novice (2m4f, soft) two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (9/1 +44%)Kiss Gold |
9/1(+44%) | (9) Kiss Gold 9/1, Outpaced on a modest debut when well beaten in a bumper at Chepstow on only start. Returning from a long layoff and difficult to fancy though longer trip should at least suit on hurdle debut. Fifth of nine in a warm bumper at Chepstow (2m, good) in April; needs a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (100/1 -100%)No Panic |
100/1(-100%) | (11) No Panic 100/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton most recently. Trainer in form; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; longer trip should suit but likely to need more time. Finished closer in a bumper than he did in either of his hurdle races, beaten 44l latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (150/1 -50%)Blazing Litten |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Blazing Litten 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Exeter last time. May need a bit further over hurdles to show more. 4th in a bumper and 2nd in three points, but tailed off at 100-1 in maiden at Exeter (2m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (33/1 +34%)Bushstreet Bowman |
33/1(+34%) | (4) Bushstreet Bowman 33/1, Fell in a novice hurdle at Hereford last time when beaten. Effective over 2m3f and acts on good ground; likely to have more to come over hurdles. Some ability at Hereford (2m4f) but adrift of the first two when falling at final flight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (50/1 -52%)Galactic Princess |
50/1(-52%) | (14) Galactic Princess 50/1, Promising effort when runner-up beaten 3 1/2l in a maiden at Rathcannon on only start. Returning from a long layoff and more needed to figure under rules. Half-sister to smart Killala Quay; 2nd of three in Irish point before £5,000 sale in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (150/1 -355%)Gettingawaywithit |
150/1(-355%) | (7) Gettingawaywithit 150/1, Outpaced on a poor debut when well beaten in a bumper at Plumpton on only start. Longer trip should suit but has all to do over hurdles 18-1, tailed-off sixth of seven in bumper at Plumpton (2m2f, soft) four weeks ago. |

Knock Off Soxs won here earlier in the month and is likely to enter calculations stepping up in distance. However, the vote goes to LE BEAU MADRIK, who built on a couple of bumper efforts to get off the mark at Newcastle on hurdling debut. That performance sets a decent standard and the four-year-old has an excellent opportunity to make it back-to-back victories. Religous Cross shaped with promise in a bumper here last month and is expected to be in the mix.

The strongest claims belong to LE BEAU MADRIK, although fellow winner Knock Off Soxs also showed clear promise for this longer trip.

1st (2) (8/1 -7%)Grain D'oudairies |
8/1(-7%) | (2) Grain D'oudairies 8/1, Won by 15l off a 6lb lower mark at Kelso two starts ago. Travelled well when upped in trip but didn't stay, finishing fifth beaten 9 1/2l off 128 last time. Effective at 2m on good ground; current mark asks for more. All wins, including at Kelso in November, at around 2m; not so good latest; 2m4f a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +55%)Taras Halls |
5/2(+55%) | (5) Taras Halls 5/2, Scored by 3 1/4l off a 6lb lower mark at Newcastle two runs back. Made mistakes and was eased when something went amiss before being pulled up in a handicap chase last time. Effective at 2 1/2m on soft and good to soft ground; form solid before latest effort. Newcastle winner in November; pulled up in other 3 of his last four runs; hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 +38%)Ned Tanner |
4/1(+38%) | (3) Ned Tanner 4/1, Won this race last year. Made mistakes and was below form up in grade when 17l third in a handicap chase at Aintree on latest outing. Effective over 2 1/2m, suited by some cut; running into form this season. Four chase wins including this race in 2024; back after wind op and a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (15/2 -7%)Kahavari |
15/2(-7%) | (8) Kahavari 15/2, Travelled well but did not find much when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and handles ground with cut; mark looks fair based on French form. Ex-French hurdles winner; bit to prove as a chaser but open to improvement; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (2/1 +27%)Bowenspark |
2/1(+27%) | (6) Bowenspark 2/1, Travelled strongly and went clear, showing improvement from debut when second beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap chase at Southwell last time. Effective at 2 1/2m and suited by soft or good ground; a bit inconsistent but fair mark on best hurdles form. Quite useful at best; runner-up on second chase start last time; well treated; possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -267%)Bois Guillbert |
22/1(-267%) | (4) Bois Guillbert 22/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when needing the run, finishing comfortably held in a handicap chase at Kelso last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time after a short break; effective at 2m on good to soft ground; form trending downward. Best form at around 2m; well beaten on reappearance; headgear now tried; bit to prove. |

None of these are without risk. However, there was a hint of a revival from BOWENSPARK when he finished second to an unexposed/progressive chaser at Southwell earlier this month and, nudged down 1lb, he could be the answer with another step forward. Grain D'oudairies and Bois Guillbert, who tries first-time cheekpieces, are others with solid claims based on their peak form, while support in the betting for Ned Tanner could be significant on his first run after wind surgery.

In an unappealing race, NED TANNER is taken to follow up last year's win on his first run since a wind operation.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/1(-13%) | (3) Jongleur D'etoiles 9/1, Unseated rider in a handicap chase at Huntingdon last time where had track issues. Effective at 3m and acts on soft and good ground. 7th (1) (11/1 -100%)Ballyfinn |
11/1(-100%) | (1) Ballyfinn 11/1, Made some mistakes but travelled well and ran to form when third, beaten 12l, in a handicap chase at Plumpton last time. Effective from 2½m to 3m, acts on good ground, on a good mark on hurdles form and should come on for that debut effort. Lightly raced maiden; encouraging chase debut at Plumpton; should strip fitter today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (10/1 -25%)Move With The Beat |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Move With The Beat 10/1, Refused to race in a handicap chase at Hereford last time. Effective at 3m; prolific in point-to-points but has a bit to prove under rules. Fifth at Exeter last month but refused to race at Hereford 20 days ago.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (18/1 -29%)Hello Cello |
18/1(-29%) | (4) Hello Cello 18/1, Won by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Fontwell two starts ago. Made mistakes and was outpaced when a poor fifth, beaten 31l, off 102 last time. Trainer in form; effective at 2½m and acts on good to soft; may improve over fences. Let down by her jumping when fifth on chase debut at Windsor (2m4f) last month; new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (14/1 -75%)Dyno Dave |
14/1(-75%) | (2) Dyno Dave 14/1, Below form when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las last time. Returning from a long layoff and improvement likely now chasing up in trip for a top yard. Showed little in three hurdle runs; could come into his own now up in trip on chase debut.. |

FAT FACED COLUMBO took a decent step forward when just denied on his chasing debut at Exeter last month and a 6lb rise doesn't appear likely to stop the five-year-old from going one better. Bertie Wooster has placed on his last couple of starts and is capable of another decent showing, while others to note include Ballyfinn and Hello Cello.

The 5yo FAT FACED COLUMBO went down only narrowly on his chasing debut and can go one better here. Dyno Dave is the main danger.

1st (5) (3/1 +10%)Paddy O'mahler |
3/1(+10%) | (5) Paddy O'mahler 3/1, Improved to land a handicap by 5l off a 5lb lower mark at Newcastle last time. Effective at 3m and handles cut; in good form and fairly treated by the handicapper. 3m h'cap hurdle winner; off the mark over fences at Newcastle latest; 5lb higher; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +0%)Ski Lodge |
9/4(+0%) | (3) Ski Lodge 9/4, Made mistakes but ran to form on chase debut when second beaten 7l in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter latest. In good form over hurdles previously. Effective at 3m, handles cut, and brings plenty of potential to fences. Hurdles/bumper winner; creditable second on chase debut; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 -10%)I Wish You |
11/2(-10%) | (2) I Wish You 11/2, Outpaced but ran to form on chase debut when fourth beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap chase at Kelso last time. Effective from 2-3m and acts with cut; a consistent performer. Fair staying hurdler; creditable fourth on chase debut (form sound); one with a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/2 +39%)Gold Emery |
11/2(+39%) | (4) Gold Emery 11/2, Ran to form when 12l third in a handicap chase at Wetherby last time. Effective up to 3m2f and handles heavy or good to soft ground; generally consistent though still a frustrating maiden over fences. Point/hurdle winner; not won for nearly four years but a capable performer and a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/1 -122%)Sole Solution |
5/1(-122%) | (1) Sole Solution 5/1, Made mistakes but ran to form on chase debut when finishing 8 1/4l third in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter on latest start. Effective over 2 1/2-3m and acts with cut; should come on for that run and can do better with tidier jumping. Dual hurdle/bumper winner; fair third on chase debut; suited by plenty of give; contender. |

SKI LODGE finished just over a length in front of Sole Solution (third) in second when the pair made their chasing debuts at Uttoxeter earlier this month and it would be no surprise to see him confirm that form. Alan King's charge is a course winner and is likely to have lots more to offer. Paddy O'Mahler powered clear to return to winning ways at Newcastle and should remain competitive, despite having a 5lb higher mark to contend with.

In a tricky race in which all five have a chance, SOLE SOLUTION is taken to confirm the promise of his Uttoxeter third three weeks ago.

1st (9) (6/4 +63%)St Irene |
6/4(+63%) | (9) St Irene 6/4, Quickened clear with ease to win a maiden hurdle at Wincanton by 13l last time having chased home very useful rival first time up. Effective at 2m on good to soft or good ground. With her form franked, she merits this rise in class. Useful in bumpers last season and has made a bright start to hurdling career this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (6/4 +40%)Lady Tadita |
6/4(+40%) | (6) Lady Tadita 6/4, Quickened clear to win a novice hurdle at Huntingdon by 2l last time. Effective at 2m on good ground. A progressive type who looks worth this step up in class. 2-2 over hurdles this autumn (both wins on good ground); set to play another big role here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 -50%)Al Fonce |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Al Fonce 9/2, Ran to form when winning a 4yo hurdle at Lyon Parilly by 3 1/2l last time. Wears a hood for the first time. Effective between 2m and 2m3f, handles soft ground, and showed very useful form in France. Quite impressive when winning twice on heavy ground in France this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (50/1 -25%)October Hill |
50/1(-25%) | (7) October Hill 50/1, Ran to form when finishing 5 1/4l third in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick on her latest start. Returning from a break and effective between 2m and 2 1/2m on good ground. A steadily improving maiden but vulnerable at this class level. Placed in four Irish maiden hurdles in the summer; upped in grade for stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (16/1 +20%)Miss Carbo |
16/1(+20%) | (10) Miss Carbo 16/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 3 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Warwick last time. Cheekpieces applied for the first time. Effective at 2m on soft ground; ex-French and needs to progress to feature at this level. Runner-up in Warwick juvenile hurdle on British debut; has a bit more on her plate here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 -33%)Our Peggy |
12/1(-33%) | (8) Our Peggy 12/1, Made a very promising debut when a 10l winner in a maiden at Tattersalls Farm. However, faces a tougher task here on hurdle debut and market may prove best guide. Sold £80,000 after winning Irish point debut in October; set tough task on rules debut. |

After two convincing wins over hurdles in France, AL FONCE is the most intriguing option. A half-sister to dual Gold Cup winner, Al Boum Photo, there is stacks of potential within her pedigree and success here would mark her down as one to follow closely as this season progresses. The unbeaten Lady Tadita commands respect after brushing aside a penalty in a novices' event at Huntingdon last month, while Anariza's Wetherby success has been boosted and she could also have a big say. October Hill and Miss Carbo are others of interest.

This can go to LADY TADITA, who has impressed on both hurdle starts and is evidently well suited by going right-handed on good ground.

1st (1) (9/4 +65%)Diamond Jim |
9/4(+65%) | (1) Diamond Jim 9/4, Below form when well beaten in the Wirral Juvenile Hurdle (Listed) at Aintree last time; effective at 2m and handles soft ground. Looks a strong stayer over 2m and may benefit from a drop in class. By Teofilo; clear 2nd on Bangor debut; last of six in Listed event next time; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 -10%)Lucy The Wire |
11/4(-10%) | (2) Lucy The Wire 11/4, Ran to form, benefitting from a drop in class when winning a mares' hurdle at Leicester by 1 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m1f and handles good ground. Her debut form has worked out well and she looks open to further progress for her new yard. Good 2nd on Cork debut, but struggled to score on stable debut latest; better expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (20/1 -25%)Pippin's Legend |
20/1(-25%) | (5) Pippin's Legend 20/1, Showed greenness but shaped with promise when 8 1/4l fourth in a juvenile bumper at Huntingdon on debut. Trainer is in form and he holds a minor chance. 8.25l fourth in Huntingdon on debut; may fare better now going over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (8/1 +20%)Playful Fox |
8/1(+20%) | (6) Playful Fox 8/1, Green and made mistakes but showed minor promise when third, beaten 22l, in a juvenile hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee on debut. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective at 2m on soft ground and should improve for that initial experience. Well-beaten third on debut but has since had wind op; tongue-tie tried; better expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (3/1 +45%)The Grayster |
3/1(+45%) | (7) The Grayster 3/1, Outpaced but ran with credit when runner-up, beaten 12l, in a juvenile hurdle at Doncaster on his only start. Effective at 2m on good to soft ground and looks a strong stayer at the trip. Clear of the others when 12l second to previous winner on Doncaster debut; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -50%)Marvel Magic |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Marvel Magic 12/1, Promising debut when 4 1/2l fourth in a juvenile bumper at Newcastle on his first start. Needs to find a little more and looks stable second string on hurdle debut. 95,000euros 2yo; fourth to Majordomo in bumper on debut; should improve on hurdles debut. |

Bumper scorer Majordomo is quickly switched to this sphere after his Newcastle triumph last month and commands huge respect, but it may pay to side with THE GRAYSTER. The three-year-old only found a subsequent winner too good on his introduction at Doncaster and could take a big step forward from that display to go one better. Of the remainder, Playful Fox makes the most appeal.

Ex-Irish LUCY THE WIRE is better than she showed when scoring at Leicester and is taken to beat Diamond Jim and Playful Fox.

4/1(-20%) | (2) Mask Of Zorro 4/1, Made mistakes but travelled well and went clear cosily, improving again when handling the testing ground to win a handicap by 4¼l off a 6lb lower mark at Fontwell last time. Effective from 2m to 2m5f, acts on any ground; progressive and may stay 3m. Clearcut winner over about 2m6f at Fontwell (good to soft/heavy) in his two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (11/10 +76%)Square Du Roule |
11/10(+76%) | (12) Square Du Roule 11/10, Scored by 1l off a 6lb lower mark at Exeter on his penultimate start. Had too much to do when fourth, beaten 2¼l off 86 last time. Effective from 2m2f to 3m; in form and may have a bit more to offer now he has got his head in front. Sole win penultimate start; running-on C&D fourth last time suggests he's a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +25%)Bitsnbuckles |
9/2(+25%) | (1) Bitsnbuckles 9/2, Had too much to do behind an all-the-way winner but returned to form at his favoured venue when beaten 2l off a 1lb lower mark at Huntingdon last time. Effective at 2½m; inconsistent but can build on that latest effort if ridden more positively. One of his best efforts latest; first run much beyond 2m5f under rules and it's worth a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (9/1 +25%)Lady Caro |
9/1(+25%) | (10) Lady Caro 9/1, Made mistakes and found little when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective at 2m on good to soft or good ground; only 1lb above her last winning mark but has stamina concerns. Exposed at about 2m (tried 2m3f once in 2024) and there's now a huge rethink on the trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (25/1 -79%)The Italian Fox |
25/1(-79%) | (11) The Italian Fox 25/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last time. Yet to find suitable conditions and may need longer trips in time. He's not shown much in his three novice hurdles (up to 2m4f) and now he goes handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 +56%)I Am Spider Man |
22/1(+56%) | (3) I Am Spider Man 22/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Hereford last time. Returns from a short break; effective from 2½m to 3m on a sound surface. Back on his last winning mark but needs to prove his ability remains. Nothing to cheer in his last three starts, hooded latest and leaving Alison Thorpe since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (12/1 -60%)See The Green |
12/1(-60%) | (6) See The Green 12/1, Ran to form but flattened out late when third, beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle at Exeter on his latest start. Blinkers on for the first time; effective from 2m to 2½m, barely stays 3m, and acts on heavy, soft, or good ground. Back in form. Ran respectably latest on first go at this sort of trip; blinkers replace other headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (50/1 -100%)Milan Ac |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Milan Ac 50/1, Made mistakes and disappointed on his hurdles return, comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Haydock last time. Blinkers on for the first time; effective at 2½m but below par since returning from a lay-off. Soundly beaten in his three handicaps, last two after a year off; headgear goes on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (28/1 -12%)Face D'music |
28/1(-12%) | (4) Face D'music 28/1, Outpaced and needed the run, showing a better effort back over hurdles when fourth, beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time. Effective at 3m and needs to build on that promising reappearance. Way out of form until a partial recovery when returned to hurdles on latest start. |

MASK OF ZORRO needs to iron out a few creases in his jumping but his attitude is spot on and that may be enough to see him cope with a 6lb rise for the latest of his two successes at Fontwell. Lelantos came good with cheekpieces reapplied at Huntingdon last month. He could be the biggest danger to the selection if the retained headgear inspires another determined effort. Bitsnbuckles and Square Du Roule appear best of the remainder.

Bottomweight Square Du Roule is not passed over at all lightly but may still fall prey to the hat-trick seeking MASK OF ZORRO.

1st (2) (5/1 +0%)Egbert |
5/1(+0%) | (2) Egbert 5/1, Pulled up in the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter last time. Returning from a long layoff. Effective around 3m and acts on any ground. Has won when fresh but can be unreliable. This trip is worth a go; competitive mark if all's well for this seasonal/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/10 +73%)Jupiter Des Bordes |
11/10(+73%) | (6) Jupiter Des Bordes 11/10, The yard won this last year. Showed improvement and a willing attitude when landing a handicap by a head off a 9lb lower mark at Warwick last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good ground. Revised mark demands more. Won at Warwick (3m, soft) latest; 13lb higher (4lb out of handicap) but finding his feet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 -22%)Vanillier |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Vanillier 11/2, Did plenty early and needed the run when comfortably held in the Conditions Chase at Punchestown last time. Effective from 3m to 4m2f and handles soft and good ground. A regular in Cross Country races who looks a big player in the class. Doesn't always spark but he stays all day and is very much the class act at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +17%)Wa Wa |
5/2(+17%) | (5) Wa Wa 5/2, Outpaced and unsuited by the way the race developed but ran to form when 15l third in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at 3m and needs a sound surface. In form and well treated on best efforts so should go close. Not proven over this far (one attempt in Ireland) and others are a touch more persuasive. |

Runner-up in the 2023 Grand National, Vanillier has to be respected off his current rating, but more was expected when only sixth at Punchestown last time. With that in mind, the unexposed JUPITER DES BORDES looks the way to go. Richard Hobson's six-year-old appreciated every yard of only his second attempt at 3m to get up by a head at Warwick earlier in the month and could improve further for this step up in distance. Regal Blue completes the shortlist.

Vanillier is hugely eyecatching at this level but EGBERT is tipped to make a winning start for his new stable.

10/3(-11%) | (6) Jukebox D'eddy 10/3, Rallied gamely and ran to form in a first-time visor, landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Market Rasen last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, acts on any ground, and may have a bit more to offer now he's had his head in front. 22-race maiden before he ended a run of seconds by winning a four-runner race last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 -11%)Gingerbred |
5/1(-11%) | (1) Gingerbred 5/1, Returned to form when finishing second, beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Exeter last time proving ability remains after lay off. Usually held up and a consistent type over fences. Absent 374 days before this term; second over hurdles last time and he's well handicapped. |

3rd (5) (4/1 +38%)Edgewell |
4/1(+38%) | (5) Edgewell 4/1, Made mistakes and finished below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time. Effective over 3m, acts on soft and good ground, on a workable mark but unreliable. Blinkered on last two starts, running creditably on first occasion but not on latest. |

4th (3) (4/1 +33%)Anytrixwilldo |
4/1(+33%) | (3) Anytrixwilldo 4/1, Fell in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time. Effective over 3m and acts on good to firm and good ground but inconsistent overall. Very mixed record but won here and in the process of running well when he fell last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (3/1 +25%)West Orchard |
3/1(+25%) | (2) West Orchard 3/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m1f, acts on good to soft and good ground, and competes off the same mark back hurdling after a year off. 3-4 in October-December 2024 (chasing); second (hurdles) recently after almost a year off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (33/1 0%)He'llstopatthetop |
33/1(0%) | (7) He'llstopatthetop 33/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time. Effective over 3m on decent ground but remains an inconsistent maiden. Maiden; soundly beaten this season and he's now 8lb out of the handicap. |

A first-time visor eked out the improvement needed to see Jukebox D'eddy go in by half a length at Market Rasen and he boasts obvious claims under Sean Bowen. However, WEST ORCHARD made a pleasing return to action when second over hurdles at Wincanton earlier this month and with all four of his career victories coming over fences, he looks the one to side with. Gingerbred is another to keep an eye on.

It's not hard to see five of these in serious contention but the ones to concentrate on may be GINGERBRED and West Orchard.

13/8(+13%) | (3) Serious Challenge 13/8, Pulled up in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Effective between 2m and 2¼m and acts on any going; had been consistent prior to that latest effort. Three wins last term; fair reappearance run; excuses for poor effort latest; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (12/1 -9%)Bucephalus |
12/1(-9%) | (2) Bucephalus 12/1, Raced too freely up in trip and failed to stay when fourth, beaten 50l, in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster latest. Cheekpieces go on for the first time; enjoys forcing the pace, effective at 2m on soft ground; looks stiffly treated. Won his last two races last term; disappointing both starts this time; headgear now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/8 +13%)Brentford Hope |
13/8(+13%) | (1) Brentford Hope 13/8, Had too much to do and was unsuited by the way the race developed when beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m and handles any ground; in fair form and now down to an attractive mark. Won three two seasons ago; highly tried since; fair run latest; interesting down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -7%)Geromino |
8/1(-7%) | (4) Geromino 8/1, Made too much use of when fourth, beaten 13l, in a handicap hurdle at Aintree latest. Returning from a long absence; effective between 2m and 2½m on decent ground; back below his last winning mark but must prove ability remains. Has won five chases and six over hurdles; probably best watched after long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (8/1 -7%)Stoner's Choice |
8/1(-7%) | (6) Stoner's Choice 8/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the drop in trip when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Effective over 2½m on decent ground; needs a drop in grade and has been a little in and out recently. Formerly a decent hurdler/chaser who was best at 2m4f; well treated but not in top form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (22/1 +21%)Rauzan |
22/1(+21%) | (7) Rauzan 22/1, Outpaced and unsuited by the drop in trip when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and prefers a sound surface; currently in only moderate form under both codes. Ex-Irish; won three in summer of 2024; not shown much at long odds for present yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (16/1 +11%)Col Du Pre' |
16/1(+11%) | (5) Col Du Pre' 16/1, Unseated rider in the Intermediate Handicap Hurdle (Gerry Feilden) at Newbury last time. Effective at 2m and handles soft ground; a French hurdles winner with more to come for this yard but his current mark asks a question. Won juvenile hurdle in France in July 2024; didn't show much on stable debut; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (66/1 -313%)Sun Lady Marine |
66/1(-313%) | (8) Sun Lady Marine 66/1, Ran to form when second, beaten a neck, in a 4yo chase at Compiegne last time. Returns from a long absence and has a bit to find starting out for new yard. Ex-French; winner over hurdles and placed over fences; best watched on stable debut. |

Sun Lady Marine rates as the most interesting contender in the line-up on her first start in the UK for the Paula Smith team and a market check is strongly advised. Bucephalus reaches for first-time cheekpieces in the hope of bringing out improvement, but SERIOUS CHALLENGE appeals most. Fergal O'Brien's charge lost his action when pulled up in the Greatwood at Cheltenham, but finished a fair fourth at Aintree prior and he could bounce back to score.

Although not the force he was BRENTFORD HOPE (nap) looks to have a fine chance in what looks a weak race for the grade.

6/1(-50%) | (7) Inferno Sacree 6/1, Made mistakes but ran to form when beaten 2 1/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Plumpton last time. Enjoys racing prominently and effective between 2m and 2 1/2m, best at 2m. Back in form off a reduced mark; dangerous if allowed to dictate. Runner-up at Plumpton this month but back up in grade here and not the force of old. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +33%)Dirty Den |
4/1(+33%) | (4) Dirty Den 4/1, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton latest. Had been in good form prior. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and suited by a sound surface. Longer trip at a sharp track should suit. Below form this month but was second in two big-field handicaps this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (13/2 +28%)Balboa |
13/2(+28%) | (3) Balboa 13/2, Outpaced but ran to form when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton last time. Effective between 2m and 2m4f; handles soft and good ground. Easing in the weights but unreliable. Not beaten far this month, after a break, but his overall profile is not that appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/4 +50%)Border Gem |
11/4(+50%) | (8) Border Gem 11/4, Ran a bit below form on handicap debut on ground softer than ideal when fourth, beaten 15l, in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton latest. Trainer in form. Effective between 2m and 2 3/4m on good ground; capable of better in handicaps back on a sound surface. Unexposed mare who was hampered when fourth on recent handicap debut; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (22/1 -10%)Vernon Subutex |
22/1(-10%) | (6) Vernon Subutex 22/1, Made too much use of and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster latest. Effective around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground; regressive. Multiple hurdle/chase winner in France; well beaten this month, after one-year absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (28/1 -522%)Green Sky |
28/1(-522%) | (5) Green Sky 28/1, Had every chance but ran below form when 22l third in a maiden hurdle at Hereford most recent. This is her second run since a wind operation. Effective over 2m with some cut; inconsistent for new yard. Safely held when third in a recent maiden; cheekpieces added for handicap return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (4/1 -14%)Zaochen Enki |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Zaochen Enki 4/1, Stable has won two of the last five renewals of this race. Outpaced and unusually below par when fourth, beaten 32l, in a handicap hurdle at Fontwell latest. Effective at 2m and possibly a bit further; generally consistent. Disappointed last month but ran well on seasonal/handicap debut at Cheltenham; new trip. |

Zaochen Enki hung right-handed when something seemed to be amiss when only fourth at Fontwell last month, but the four-year-old is in masterful hands and it wouldn't be a shock to see an improved performance. Even so, it's hard to ignore the claims of INFERNO SACREE after only finding an odds-on shot too good over 2m at Plumpton on his most recent start. As long as Nigel Hawke's inmate is as effective over this longer trip, he could be the one to beat. Green Sky is another to note.

There is more to come from BORDER GEM (nap), who was hampered on her handicap debut and will be suited by this return to good ground.

2nd (1) (9/2 +40%)Circuit Breaker |
9/2(+40%) | (1) Circuit Breaker 9/2, Made too much use of when beaten 7l in a handicap at York last time; off a short break; effective from 14f to 16f and acts on soft and all-weather; form tailed off in spring, needs to leave reappearance effort behind though return to the all-weather is a plus. Faded to finish fourth over C&D 22 days ago but may warrant another chance.. |

4th (8) (8/1 -45%)Cosmic Soul |
8/1(-45%) | (8) Cosmic Soul 8/1, Returned to form when beaten 3l off this mark at Newcastle last time, having too much to do after meeting trouble; effective from 14f to 16f on a sound surface; in good form in both codes and could come on for latest. Third of ten at Newcastle following a short break on just his second run on Tapeta.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/1 -40%)Gold Penny |
7/1(-40%) | (7) Gold Penny 7/1, Ran to form in first-time cheekpieces when second beaten 6l in a novice here latest; trainer in form; effective from 10f to 12f and acts on good ground and all-weather; top yard persists and could be well treated back in a handicap. 0-6 but ran her best race for top connections when second of ten here 29 days ago.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (20/1 -43%)Civil Law |
20/1(-43%) | (4) Civil Law 20/1, Never threatened and was below form when beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; effective up to 12f and acts on all-weather; likes the track though form is going the wrong way. Five-time course winner but all of his wins have been at shorter trips.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 -38%)Young Endless |
11/1(-38%) | (6) Young Endless 11/1, Won by 2l off a 6lb lower mark at Southwell three starts back; every chance and ran to form when fourth beaten 3 1/4l off 67 last time; effective from 14f to 17f and acts on a sound surface; in form and still on a competitive mark. Won here in June but at his best at Southwell where he has rattled off six wins.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (5/1 -25%)Gifted Angel |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Gifted Angel 5/1, Never threatened after missing the break when beaten 8l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; had been in good form prior; effective from 10f to 14f and acts on good ground and all-weather. His tendency to start slowly was his downfall when fifth of nine at Lingfield 22 days ago.. |

YOUNG ENDLESS is effective over this trip and as a previous course winner, he has plenty to recommend him in this company. Cosmic Soul is also a proven stayer that should not be underestimated from bottom weight. Gifted Angel boasts solid credentials based on peak performances and stepping back up in trip could be a profitable move where he is concerned. Gold Penny is another potential improver over this new trip.

This looks to be a great opportunity for FRANCESCO BARACCA to return to winning ways. The main danger is Gold Penny.

9/2(+68%) | (4) Must Be Ten 9/2, Had a wide trip and ran a little below par when beaten 4 1/2l in a Lingfield nursery last time; effective over 6/7f and acts on all-weather; may need another drop in the weights to be competitive. Dropping down the weights but needs to raise his game a level if he is to break his duck. |

2nd (11) (8/1 +20%)Far Too Fizzy |
8/1(+20%) | (11) Far Too Fizzy 8/1, Scored by 3/4l off 5lb lower at Chelmsford in October; didn't stay and made plenty of use of the pace when eighth beaten 21l off 56 last time; best suited by 6f and acts on all-weather; drop in trip should help. Well beaten over 7f last time but earlier 6f nursery form brings him into the reckoning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (15/2 -67%)Blindfold Games |
15/2(-67%) | (6) Blindfold Games 15/2, Ran to form dropped in trip though had plenty to do when beaten 1 1/4l off 2lb lower at Chelmsford last time; effective at 5/6f and acts on all-weather; still has potential if ridden closer to the pace. Unsuited by the drop to 5f last time; earlier Lingfield 2nd was a promising run; e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/1 +9%)Havana Jag |
5/1(+9%) | (2) Havana Jag 5/1, Made too much use of the pace and faded late when 4l third in a novice here last time; effective at 5/6f and acts on all-weather; small but useful type and an interesting mark for handicaps. Placed in 3 of her 4 starts; steps back up to 6f for her nursery debut; not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 +17%)Reality Queen |
10/1(+17%) | (3) Reality Queen 10/1, Won by a neck off 4lb lower at Bath two starts back; outpaced but rallied when fourth beaten 5l off 63 last time; back from a short break; bred for speed, effective at 5-6f, and the return to this trip should suit. Bath win (5.7f) in September; below par on heavy next time; capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/4 +63%)My Dad Tom |
11/4(+63%) | (1) My Dad Tom 11/4, Held his head high under pressure and was not that willing when beaten 5l in a Lingfield nursery last time; effective over 6/7f and acts on a sound surface; form is declining and headgear may now be needed. Not at best last time but this is a drop in class and he's a contender on his best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (15/2 -88%)Sunlit Sea |
15/2(-88%) | (7) Sunlit Sea 15/2, Produced a game effort over a stiff 5f when beaten a short head off 1lb lower at Newcastle last time; wears blinkers first time; effective at 5/6f and acts on all-weather; reliable filly on a workable mark. Three good nursery runs, beaten a short head at Newcastle latest; now blinkered; wide draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (40/1 -150%)Spirit Of Mara |
40/1(-150%) | (9) Spirit Of Mara 40/1, Raced freely early and was beaten once the pace lifted when down in trip, well held in a Newcastle novice last time; may need 7f; form has dipped but extra distance could help. Modest form in 3 starts, the latest his AW debut; improvement essential now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (9/1 +18%)Baileys Ontherocks |
9/1(+18%) | (5) Baileys Ontherocks 9/1, Had every chance and likely ran to form when beaten 3 1/4l off a 3lb higher mark at Chelmsford last time; trainer in form; effective at 5f and acts on all-weather; novice form may flatter and initial mark looked stiff. No real progress over 5f, including nursery debut latest; new trip not enough to tempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (66/1 -136%)Resalah |
66/1(-136%) | (10) Resalah 66/1, Below form when beaten 9 1/4l in a Yarmouth nursery last time; back from a short break; probably stays 7f and acts on all-weather; current mark may still be on the high side. Modest form for Alice Haynes; sold 1,000gns in October; drops in trip on stable debut. |

SUNLIT SEA has been consistent in defeat since she was introduced in October and could be hard to deal with if the first-time blinkers provide the missing ingredient. A wide draw ins't ideal for the daughter of Mehmas and Reality Queen may be a significant thorn in her side if she is revived by switching back to a Tapeta surface. Havana Jag and Mister Moet are each-way options to consider.

My Dad Tom can go well dropped in class but REALITY QUEEN can bounce back from a modest effort on heavy ground when last seen.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 +6%)Accrual |
15/2(+6%) | (7) Accrual 15/2, Bit free but quickened clear readily when landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 5lb lower mark here last time. Effective at 5-6f and acts on all-weather; respected up 5lb. Made all to beat Papa Cocktail over C&D last week; more on his plate under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 +22%)Coachello |
7/2(+22%) | (1) Coachello 7/2, Won this last year; below form up in grade when down the field in a handicap at Ayr last time; returning from a break. Effective at 6f, acts on all-weather; former Listed winner who hasn't looked the same force in 2025 and may still need the run. Won this race last year off 3lb higher; poor run at Ayr last time; better expected today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (25/1 +11%)Many A Star |
25/1(+11%) | (4) Many A Star 25/1, Had every chance but below form when second beaten a length in a claimer here latest; returning from a break. Acts on all-weather; veteran has been inconsistent of late. 11-time winner but well short of his best over C&D when last seen 142 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (7/1 +13%)Papa Cocktail |
7/1(+13%) | (9) Papa Cocktail 7/1, Scored by 4l off a 7lb lower mark here in October and ran to form when second beaten 3/4l off 76 last time. Suited by 6f and acts on all-weather; can go well again. Conditions to suit and 5lb better off with Accrual on recent C&D run; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (11/2 -10%)Havana Rum |
11/2(-10%) | (8) Havana Rum 11/2, Scored by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Chelmsford on penultimate start; wide draw. Suited by 5-6f and acts on all-weather; progressive through the second half of 2025 and could make amends for last time off an unchanged mark. 5f Chelmsford win before fine 3rd back there (6f) 12 days ago; strong claims off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (12/1 -118%)Intervention |
12/1(-118%) | (3) Intervention 12/1, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Lingfield last time. Effective at 6-7f and acts on all-weather; back in form and remains well treated on old efforts. Well backed when beating Valley Ofthe Kings at Lingfield last time; well drawn; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (100/1 -203%)Media Shooter |
100/1(-203%) | (2) Media Shooter 100/1, Far too free when beaten 7l in a handicap at Kempton last time from a wide draw. Effective at 6-7f and acts on all-weather; all wins have come in lower grades. Only seen twice in 2025 and well beaten on both occasions; others have less to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (8/1 -33%)Valley Ofthe Kings |
8/1(-33%) | (6) Valley Ofthe Kings 8/1, Scored by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Chelmsford three starts back and ran to form when second beaten 3/4l off 83 last time. Effective at 5-7f, acts on all-weather; up 1lb and can go well again. Two wins this autumn and career-best RPR when 2nd to Intervention latest; even more needed. |

Not many can be ruled out here. Coachello won this race off 3lb higher last year and could figure for a place with a revival, while Accrual, Many A Star and Media Shooter are all C&D winners that would be dangerous to rule out. However, VALLEY OFTHE KINGS endured a torrid passage when he finished a close second to Intervention at Lingfield 13 days ago and he could reverse the form, armed with a 3lb pull.

Although only third at Chelmsford last time, HAVANA RUM (nap)'s effort strongly suggested this mark was still in range.

1st (2) (16/1 -88%)Chantelle |
16/1(-88%) | (2) Chantelle 16/1, 16 Apr; Gleneagles filly; half-sister to Sanditon, fair at 7f; dam useful at 10f; trainer in form though his horses tend to need bit more time. Dam a 9.4f AW winner from a good family; may not come into her own until tackling 1m+. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (4/5 +42%)Seeing Stars |
4/5(+42%) | (8) Seeing Stars 4/5, Saw it out well after racing prominently and produced a promising effort when runner-up, beaten a nose, in a novice here on debut. By a sprint sire with stamina on the dam's side and should improve from that first run. Headed in the final stride on her debut here 24 days ago; third has won since; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (17/2 +58%)Fair Y Isle |
17/2(+58%) | (6) Fair Y Isle 17/2, Better than the result when doing plenty of running before halfway and beaten 7l in a maiden here on debut. Returns from a short break. Effective at 7f and acts on the all-weather. Open to improvement. Did lots wrong on C&D debut but showed plenty of promise all the same; likely big improver. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/2 +0%)Safe Harbor |
15/2(+0%) | (4) Safe Harbor 15/2, Didn't get the clearest run and about to match debut form when beaten 4 1/4l in a Southwell novice last time. Effective at 7f and handles the all-weather. Appears to have found her level. Clear signs of ability in two 7f runs this winter; still capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/2 -27%)Queen Sana |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Queen Sana 7/2, Bit keen but ran to form when second, beaten 3/4l, in a novice here last time. Effective at 6f and acts on the all-weather. Likely to progress further. Three solid 6f runs, 2nd twice here; sets standard and some encouragement for 7f on paper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (100/1 -150%)Sands End |
100/1(-150%) | (7) Sands End 100/1, Too green to show anything on debut when well beaten in a Lingfield novice, her only start. Has everything to prove. Awkward at the start and never threatened when last of 14 on Lingfield debut (7f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (15/2 -50%)All Worthwhile |
15/2(-50%) | (1) All Worthwhile 15/2, Knew her job and enjoyed a good trip on the inner when third, beaten 2l, in a Lingfield novice on debut. Speedily bred but stays 7f and handles the all-weather. Small type who should progress slightly from that first run. Promising debut when 3rd of 12 at Lingfield this month; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (150/1 -200%)Dora Vita |
150/1(-200%) | (5) Dora Vita 150/1, 30 Jan; 9,000gns Dream Ahead filly; half-sister to Lesley's Boy, very useful at 7f; dam useful at 7f though yard not known for debut winners. 9,000gns half-sister to five winners; yard not known for 2yo winners. |

SEEING STARS shaped with bundles of promise when only beaten by the smallest of margins into second over C&D earlier this month and that form is already working out well. If William Knight's juvenile progresses from that effort, she will prove a tough nut to crack. Queen Sana brings the most experience to the table, filling the runner-up spot in each of her last two outings, and she is likely to be thereabouts. All Worthwhile isn't ruled out either.

Fair Y Isle appeals as a likely big improver but SEEING STARS can gain compensation for her last-gasp defeat here 24 days ago.

10/11(+52%) | (1) Jamie Sommers 10/11, Improved markedly from debut and showed pace when dropped back in trip, beaten 2l in a novice at Beverley last time; should progress with that run under her belt. Promise in two sprint runs in the summer; bred to stay 7f; more to come; respected. |

2nd (8) (9/1 -80%)Show Me Gold |
9/1(-80%) | (8) Show Me Gold 9/1, 8 Apr; 6,000gns Havana Gold filly; half-sister to Monkey Miss, fair at 5f; dam was very useful at 6f as a 2yo; looks an unlikely winner on debut. 6,000gns half-sister to minor winner Monkey Miss (RPR 68); betting useful on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 +73%)Faffs Gold |
11/2(+73%) | (4) Faffs Gold 11/2, 7 Feb; Havana Gold filly; dam was useful over 7f winning on the AW; probably best watched on debut. First foal of a 7f AW winner (RPR 72); doesn't have a daunting standard to aim at on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/2 +30%)Bergamo Gold |
7/2(+30%) | (5) Bergamo Gold 7/2, Produced a better effort off a break but did too much early, beaten 4l in a maiden here last time; should prove effective over 7f or further and may improve if ridden more conservatively. Hasn't seen it out in two 7f maidens thus far; this is weak though and may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 0%)That's Enough |
10/1(0%) | (3) That's Enough 10/1, Green and backed off when held by principals, well beaten in a novice at Lingfield on debut; speedily bred and 6f may suit; quite a nice type who could improve markedly. Down the field when 18-1 for her Lingfield debut (7f) but she is bred to do much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (66/1 +18%)Peas And Queues |
66/1(+18%) | (7) Peas And Queues 66/1, Too green to show anything on debut when well beaten in a novice at Kempton; wears blinkers for the first time and has plenty to prove. Tailed off in a 6f novice at Kempton six weeks ago (33-1); blinkers now added. |

This might not take much winning, so a chance can be taken on newcomer KATIE'S SONG, who is related to a few winners and goes for an outfit that can ready one first time out. Jamie Sommers has know-how on her side as she has run twice, with her most recent effort coming when fifth at Beverley in July and she is one to watch. Any market confidence behind Faffs Gold would be interesting.

A modest affair in which JAMIE SOMMERS is tentatively selected after showing ability in two sprint runs in the summer.

Consistent but exposed; needs the new cheekpieces to give him a lift. |

3/1(-33%) | (2) Credit Forgedd It 3/1, Outpaced and looked to need further when beaten 5l in a nursery at Lingfield last time; effective at 6f, 7f may suit better, acts on AW; disappointing in nurseries and could need the step-up in trip. Improvement required for the new, longer trip, but it is not out of the question. |

3rd (1) (7/2 -17%)Snaafy |
7/2(-17%) | (1) Snaafy 7/2, Suited by moving up in trip and won with a bit in hand when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark here last time; suited by 8/9f, acts on AW; competitively handicapped. C&D win from the front three weeks ago; the only winner in the field; obvious claims. |

50/1(-257%) | (6) Vietnorm 50/1, Out-kicked and looked to need further when down the field in a novice at Newcastle most recently; usually held up; bred for 8f+; moderate so far but has been needing longer trips. Some promise on second start (1m); makes nursery debut at a realistic level; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (25/1 -39%)She's Crafty |
25/1(-39%) | (4) She's Crafty 25/1, Had every chance but ran below form when well beaten in a nursery at Newcastle latest; visor first time; off a short break; effective 5-7f and acts on AW; bit to prove after a couple of below-par efforts. 2nd in 7f nursery here in September; well held twice since (6f); up in trip; accesories on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (150/1 -275%)Elemental |
150/1(-275%) | (8) Elemental 150/1, Didn't stay when beaten 9l in a nursery at Newcastle last time; blinkers first time; may need 6f; yet to show any reliable form. Poor form to date; hopes rest on new trip/headgear prompting improvement. |

Despite being sent off at big odds and showing very little in each of his three career starts thus far, VIETNORM gets the vote. The son of Kessaar now makes his first appearance in a nursery off a lowly mark and with the Adrian Keatley team in fine order, he may prove a completely different proposition. Zipwire occupied the runner-up berth here recently and is respected, along with C&D winner Snaafy.

Snaafy is solid enough but HARDSTYLE and Vietnorm appeal as likely improvers now handicapping at a modest level.

14/1(-100%) | (7) Ghaiyyath Park 14/1, Returned to form up in trip, beaten a head off a 2lb lower mark at Lingfield last time; effective 9-11f and acts on all-weather; consistent in Germany and well treated if building on that run. Beaten a head at Lingfield last time; respected on debut for another new yard. |

GHAIYYATH PARK produced her best effort to date in the UK when finishing second at Lingfield earlier in the month and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she went one better on stable debut for Mick Appleby. Wilhelmina has been knocking on the door recently and is likely to enter the reckoning, while others to consider are Coeur Jaune and Leeson Street.

This can go to WILHELMINA who is running well just now as when not beaten far in the Winter Oaks Trial at Lingfield earlier this month.

SALARIA arrives in search of a hat-trick attempt and the daughter of Highland Reel could prove a tough nut to crack after a 3lb rise for the latest course success. Bownder won at Lingfield on his penultimate start and appears capable of another decent showing. Love Your Work, Serious Look and The Sweet Escape are others likely to be in the mix.

It's hard to get away from YOUARENOTFORGIVEN who was denied a clear run here last time. The main danger is Salaria.

ALAFDHAL made it three wins from his last four starts when scoring over C&D and Phil McEntee's gelding is taken to continue his excellent run of form. Sam's Xpress is turned out under a 5lb penalty following his Lingfield victory just before Christmas and looks an obvious threat to the selection. Havana Gila and Son Of Astar can fight it out for the placings.

A competitive sprint. Amerjeet and HE'S AN ANGEL both lurk on dangerous marks and may fight out the finish.
Ths is the racecard key.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
