12:00 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Girl From Italy was denied in her hat-trick bid by Finn Russell when the pair met at Wolverhampton last time and it would be no surprise if the latter were able to confirm the form. Storymaker has been knocking on the door recently and is capable of a decent showing, but the vote goes to DAVID'S DIVA. Rod Millman's filly makes her handicap debut following a couple of promising efforts and she appears open to the most amount of improvement in the contest.

STORYMAKER has been knocking on the door of late, only just failing here 10 days ago, and gets the vote over Finn Russell and Girl From Italy, who were first and second at Wolverhampton 10 days ago.

Finn Russell and Girl From Italy are respected but tackle a new surface so perhaps DAVID'S DIVA can win on her handicap debut.

(2) Hurlerontheditch (5/2 -11%)
Hurlerontheditch

5/2(-11%)
(2) Hurlerontheditch 5/2, Fair hurdler who was in the process of showing much improved form on chase bow when departing at Warwick on return last month, the race very much at his mercy after an excellent display of jumping when slipped on landing and came down at last. 10 lb higher now but of strong interest.
20l clear when fell at the last at Warwick on chase debut; up 10lb but one with a chance.

40/1(-21%)
(9) Pawpaw 40/1, Career best when winning 9-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (21.6f, good to soft) in May. Ran poorly off 9 lb higher at Stratford next time and ran even worse on the back of a stable switch (formerly with David Bridgwater) at Uttoxeter when last seen in July.
Dual chase winner earlier this year; tailed off on latest start (July); others stronger..
LTO Selection:

12:15 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SAGEBURG COUNTY arrives here having won two of his last three starts and a 7lb penalty for the most recent of those victories, which came over C&D, may not be enough to stop him. Sporting Mike is entitled to improve for his comeback run at Hereford a month ago and he may also progress due to a subsequent wind operation. Others to note are Firak and Hurlerontheditch.

HURLERONTHEDITCH looked a natural switched to chasing at Warwick on his return last month, jumping very well and at least 15 lengths up when slipping on landing and coming down at the last, and can make amends despite a 10 lb rise. Sageburg County resumed progress with an easy win over C&D last week and is an obvious threat under a penalty, while Eaton Collina is worth another chance having had excuses on his return.

In an interesting race SAGEBURG COUNTY is taken to win his third race of the season.Hurlerontheditch and Firak are feared most.

LTO Selection:

12:30 Lingfield Maiden (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BIG ZOU is expected to have learnt plenty from his racecourse bow when finishing fourth at Chelmsford last month and Tom Clover's gelding makes plenty of appeal in what appears to be a winnable race on paper. Battle Of Omdurman stays further than a mile and may be ridden positively to take full advantage, while others to note include Rich Harry and newcomer See That Storm.

BIG ZOU produced a promising first effort when fourth at Chelmsford and makes the most appeal in a weak maiden. See That Storm is a newcomer to note, while Rich Harry should be on the premises again.

Having made a promising debut at Chelmsford, BIG ZOU holds the strongest claims. Newcomer See That Storm is second choice.

(2) Somespring Special 13/2, Won twice over hurdles in the spring but made an unpromising start to her chasing career when pulled up at Wincanton on return, possibly amiss (reportedly lost shoe) and/or finding the ground softer than ideal. Worth another chance.
Dual hurdle winner in spring; not herself on latest outing but a player if back on song.
LTO Selection:

12:45 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

I AM GONNA BE bounced back to form when second on her seasonal debut at Ayr a month ago and the six-year-old sets the standard based on that evidence, despite a 3lb rise in the ratings. Somespring Special failed to fire at Wincanton last time but can be given another chance based on her two previous Fontwell victories. Cases can be made for all of the remainder but Aubis Walk stands out the most.

I AM GONNA BE made a promising start to her chasing career when runner-up at Ayr last month and can put that experience to good use. Presenting Nelly and Blue Beach are bred to do better over fences so are respected, while Irish-point winner Aubis Walk should also make a chaser.

The suggestion is I AM GONNA BE, who came from a poor position for a creditable second in her seasonal/chase debut at Ayr last month.

13:00 Lingfield Maiden (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DASHING DARCEY could be forgiven his debut effort when pulled up early on at Wolverhampton and the son of Muhaarar has since run with credit to fill the runner-up spot at Newcastle. With the likelihood of improvement to come, Roger Varian's colt gets the vote to go one better. Belcamo has to be respected after finishing third on his first start at Kempton, with Toromoro appealing most of the remainder.

BELCAMO would have gone into many notebooks having thundered home from an unpromising position on his debut at Kempton last month, so he's fancied to build on that and make his second start a winning one. Dashing Darcey lost out only to one who got first run at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and he's a major threat with further improvement on the cards, with Mr Influence pick of the newcomers before market clues.

Having caught the eye at Kempton, BELCAMO looks the one to side with. Dashing Darcey is second choice.

(1) Casa Tall 11/4, Three-time winner over fences in 2021 and while it's been a while since he last troubled the judge, this 9-y-o has slipped a long way in the weights and shaped as though a revival may be imminent on debut for new yard at Carlisle in October. Key player.

13:15 Southwell Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Abaya Du Mathan has to be of interest following back-to-back seconds last month but marginal preference is for HOWYOUPLAYTHEGAME. Sam Allwood's gelding showed plenty of promise when a close third on his seasonal return at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago and he races off just a 1lb higher mark here. Casa Tall is another with valid form claims, while Hokelami completes the shortlist.

Though he finished last in a six-runner affair at Carlisle last time, CASA TALL travelled better than most for much of the race, which was his first run for this yard following three months off. He has slipped to a very dangerous mark and may well be the answer here, provided he's able to build on that effort. Abaya du Mathan has hit the crossbar both starts for present connections and is feared most ahead of Howyouplaythegame.

Preference is for HOWYOUPLAYTHEGAME (nap), who ran a big race and succumbed only close home at Doncaster last month.

13:30 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A competitive heat sees a chance taken on ROGUE ROSIE, who looks to be on a very tempting mark having been dropped a further 2lb in the ratings for her defeat over 5f at Wolverhampton last time. Tom Clover's charge was slowly into stride on that occasion so she could have finished closer. The Liegeman made a pleasing start to his handicap career when beaten a length over 5f at Newcastle last month and he looks primed to offer a bold bid off the same mark, while Via Blanca is also noted.

VIA BLANCA posted a much-improved effort tackling her first handicap when second at Chelmsford last month and could be the way to go with hope for better still. Rogue Rosie is likely to be on the premises once more, while the gelded Relentless Warrior could take a step forward now handicapping at a low level.

Archie Watson's THE LIEGEMAN made a pretty good start to his handicap career when placed behind two in-form rivals last month.

Having won an Irish point-to-point in March, QUEENSBURY BOY makes the most appeal on his first start under Rules. The son of Doyen looks an interesting recruit for Harry Derham and the benefit of that previous experience between the flags can hold him in good stead. Ted's Gift has made a consistent start to his career and a win may just be around the corner for Jonjo O'Neill's four-year-old, while the well-bred Ace Of Spades is one to note on debut.

Jamie Snowden has his string in cracking form at present so A PRO PO, who makes appeal on paper, is selected to make a winning start. Queensbury Boy and Ace of Spades are a couple of interesting rivals who require close market scrutiny, while Marmalade Time is likely to show the benefit of last month's reappearance at Warwick.

The choice is the Irish raider RODNEY who was a fair sixth at Navan on his latest start. Queensberry Boy looks his main threat.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Light Speed arrives here seeking a hat-trick on his handicap bow for the powerful combination of Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy, but this opening mark of 80 leaves little room for error. Therefore, the nod goes to ROMILDA, who was only beaten a little over a length over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton despite being denied a clear run towards the latter stages. The consistent Tiger Beetle should also be on the scene, while Enough Already is also worthy of consideration.

LIGHT SPEED had a bit in hand when defying a penalty at Wolverhampton and can complete the hat-trick on his handicap bow. Romilda caught the eye at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago and is next best ahead of Tiger Beetle and Enough Already.

Handicap debutant LIGHT SPEED could well show further progress and defy top weight. Romilda is feared most.

TEDTWO made a very pleasing start to his career in bumpers last season before disappointing on his latest outing at Kelso, but could bounce back on his return to action. The four-year-old is having his first start for Kerry Lee on his hurdling bow and he should not be discounted. Smurfette was a good fourth over 2m at Warwick last month and looks likely to build on that effort, while Golden Ambition is another to keep a close eye on.

SMURFETTE made a pleasing start to her hurdling career when fourth in a big field at Warwick last month and can build on that and get off the mark now. Uttoxeter-third Royal Thunder was still going well when unseating at Ascot since and is second choice ahead of bumper-winner Tedtwo, a new recruit for the Kerry Lee stable.

This looks an ideal opportunity for SMURFETTE, who was fourth at Warwick on her jumps debut last month, to get off the mark.

CLASSIC CONCORDE has been in flying form in recent months, having won four of his last five starts, and a 6lb rise for his latest success at Ffos Las is unlikely to stop his progression. Howaya Now switches back to hurdles having fallen on his chase debut at Warwick and the five-year-old warrants a fair amount of respect. Zwicky could have more to offer stepping up in trip and completes the shortlist.

There's likely more to come from ZWICKY now reunited with Sean Quinlan and stepping up to 3m for the first time so he's the one to beat. The thriving Classic Concorde can give him most to think about ahead of Howaya Now.

(1) Sharp Distinction 4/1, Course winner. 10/3, good second of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford (1¾m) 28 days ago, no match for winner. Cheekpieces back on. Can give a good account.
Won comfortably in October, after a wind op, and ran very well in defeat last month.

Fair Dinkum

5/1(+0%)
(11) Fair Dinkum 5/1, Won 12-runner C&D handicap 17 days ago by 1¾ lengths from Kalamity Kitty. Unexposed at 2m and a 3 lb rise is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing.
Too good for Kalamity Kitty over C&D last month; up in grade today but 3lb rise manageable.

Artisan Dancer

5/2(+44%)
(8) Artisan Dancer 5/2, Third leg of a quick hat-trick at the end of the summer came over C&D. Creditable length second of 11 to Sea Me Dance in handicap (3/1) at Wolverhampton (1¾m) 18 days ago, conceding first run. Major player.
Won comfortably over C&D in September and returns here after three good Tapeta runs.

(7) Sea Me Dance 5/1, Career best when winning 11-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (1¾m) 18 days ago by length from Artisan Dancer, getting first run on her reopposing rival. Should remain very competitive after a 3 lb rise.

(10) Kalamity Kitty 9/2, Good 1¾ lengths second of 12 to Fair Dinkum over C&D 17 days ago. Oisin Murphy takes the ride. Another to consider.

(5) Mukha Magic 11/1, C&D winner. 28/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (2m) 18 days ago. Down to a mark in the 60s for the first time in a while but not obviously in good enough form to capitalise.
Very well suited by 2m on Polytrack but has looked out of sorts in recent months.

Placed off 1lb higher in March but not seen again since; younger rivals appeal more.

15:05 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SEA ME DANCE returned to winning ways over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last month and this step up in trip could help her to defy a 3lb rise in the ratings. Artisan Dancer chased home the selection on that occasion and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Fair Dinkum and Kalamity Kitty are the pick of the remainder.

ARTISAN DANCER conceded first run to Sea Me Dance when second to her at Wolverhampton last month and is taken to turn the tables on 2 lb better terms. Recent C&D scorer Fair Dinkum could have more to offer at 2m and is another to consider in a competitive race.

Topweight SHARP DISTINCTION has got his career back on track since a wind operation in September and gets the nod.

Has struggled in four runs and is long way out of the weights again; no appeal.
LTO Selection:

15:20 Southwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Annie Day made a winning return to action at Warwick when pulling clear with an unexposed rival. However, she won fresh last season before not progressing as expected and may prove vulnerable. The vote, therefore, goes to ALRIGHT DAI, who displayed promise in bumpers and produced his best effort over timber when third at Fakenham last time. The five-year-old is expected to strike on his handicap bow, while stable companion Double Powerful and Letmetellusomethin are others capable of taking a step forward.

MAJOR FORTUNE failed to vindcate punters' faith at Exeter last month but he's well worth another chance given the traffic problems he encountered that day. Indeed, the 5-y-o has been eased 2 lb on the back of that and there's surely better to come from him on just his third start for Dan Skelton. Handicap debutants Alright Dai and Letmetellusomethin may emerge as the main dangers, despite the presence of last-time-out winners Annie Day and Begoodtoyourself.

The vote goes to ANNIE DAY, who made it 2-7 over hurdles when beating a clear second at Warwick on her return last month.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SIXTIES CHIC was only beaten a head over 7f here 10 days ago and that followed a success over this trip at Wolverhampton. With that in mind, the unexposed three-year-old merits the utmost respect down in distance at this level. Mumayaz has been knocking hard on the door of late and cannot be discounted, while Fianian should not be underestimated on his handicap debut.

SIXTIES CHIC took another step forward when narrowly denied over 7f here 10 days ago and can make it 2-3 in handicaps now. Nordic Glory, Mumayaz and Northcliff are others to consider, while Maharajas Express is one to note in the betting on his first outing for Jack Jones.

Judged on recent form, NORDIC GLORY (nap) holds particularly strong claims. Mumayaz may have to settle for second place once again.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having been beaten just under a length over C&D last time, SHERDIL looks primed to offer another bold bid. Churchill Bay is feared most after a neck second last time, but a 2lb rise could be difficult to defy. Better can be expected from Bernie The Bear, who was well backed last time when disappointing over track and trip, and he could reverse that form with the reopposing Tommytwohoots.

VOLTAIC needs things to drop right but Sarah Bowen usually gets a good tune out of him and he's dropped back to his last winning mark. Churchill Bay made a positive start for new trainer Jessica Macey when narrowly denied here last month and can fill the forecast spot ahead of Coast and the Simon Walker-ridden Sherdil.

He's patently not the force of old but SHERDIL ran well in defeat over C&D two weeks ago and ought to be able to cope with a 2lb rise.

17:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HAND JIVE was only beaten half a length over 7f at Newcastle last time and this looks a good opportunity for the son of Blue Point. Charlie Johnston's colt shaped as if this drop in trip would suit and he's fancied to make his presence felt off the same mark. Last-time-out winner Amroon is the biggest danger to the selection, although he may find it tough to defy a 4lb rise in the ratings for that half-length success, while Bitcoin Profit heads the remainder.

UPPER HAND had excuses at Newcastle last time and might be able to come good back at 6f. Hand Jive was ahead of the selection at Newcastle and is another who may benefit from the drop back to 6f so he's second choice. Chaumet More, who has a smart pedigree, and George Boughey's Better are potential improvers in handicap company and need monitoring closely in the betting.

The suggestion is HAND JIVE, who drops back in trip after a close fourth over 7f at Newcastle last month.

LTO Selection:

18:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Let's Go Hugo has been in good form of late and looks likely to be on the scene once more, but could be vulnerable having been raised a further 1lb in the ratings for his second over C&D last time. Therefore, the nod goes to RESILIENCE, who was three lengths behind the aforementioned Ollie Pears runner on his latest outing and is fancied to turn the tables on that rival off 7lb better terms. Agostino should also be in the shake-up.

SPEED DIAL BAILEYS was better than the result over 6f here last time and can resume winning ways back at 5f. Agostino has had a consistent spell on AW lately and can provide the chief threat ahead of Let's Go Hugo.

It was tight between Let's Go Hugo and DICKO THE LEGEND in the autumn and the latter still has some improvement in him back at 5f.

LTO Selection:

18:30 Wolverhampton Maiden (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TIARAQUEEN made a promising start to her career when runner-up at Kempton at the beginning of last month and the daughter of Kingman, whose dam is a full-sister to a Group 1-placed filly, is likely to build on that performance. Galloping On finished well when runner-up over C&D on his second outing and is expected to be in the mix. Roobeena, who is closely related to Group/Grade 1 performers, and Superb Force appeal most of the remainder.

It's likely that there are several future winners on show in this maiden. Newcomer SUPERB FORCE is very appealing on paper and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour. Tiaraqueen chased home the selection's odds-on stablemate Topanga at Kempton and looks a big threat with that run under her belt. Galloping On is third choice, while Super Saiyan, who shaped well on debut at Chelmsford, and Roger Varian's debutantes Miss Oxford and Roobeena are others to consider.

A few of these offer potential. Clive Cox's GALLOPING ON has the inside draw and can build on a promising C&D second.

LTO Selection:

19:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 3) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

CHANTICO was purchased for 16,000gns in October following a disappointing effort at Newbury in April and the four-year-old, who has clearly needed time to develop, may be a shrewd purchase for his new connections. Talis Evolvere has to enter the reckoning having been second here last time, while Woodstock City and Urban Sprawl are both capable of being in the mix.

CHANTICO finished out with the washing in a Newbury handicap when last seen during the spring, but the testing conditions may have contributed to that low-key performance and this lightly-raced 4-y-o is of strong interest back down in trip on debut for new connections. Next on the list is Talis Evolvere, who shaped as though this stiffer test would be in his favour when runner-up over 7.2f here 13 days ago. Queen of Ipanema and Urban Sprawl are others with claims in a competitive race.

Richard Fahey's C&D scorer GINCIDENT (nap) shaped well after a layoff when a running-on fifth here and he can bag a fourth win of 2023.

19:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

WHATWOULDYOUKNOW returned to winning ways on his latest start at Newcastle and the eight-year-old could prove a tough nut to crack in a contest that lacks much depth on paper. Harbour Vision is capable of being in the mix based on his recent efforts at this track, while Kingwell and Waleyfa are others that could have an impact on proceedings.

The vote goes to IBIZA ROCKS, who has slipped to a potentially handy mark and wasn't seen to best effect under an inexperienced rider over this C&D 17 days ago. Waleyfa should get a decent pace to aim at here and, if so, she will be a threat, along with recent Newcastle winner Whatwouldyouknow. Kingwell is also worth a second look.

C&D scorer WALEYFA didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fifth at Lingfield last time and is taken to bag a fourth win for Alice Haynes

MIN TILL was a close second over 7f here when last seen in October and the daughter of Al Kazeem could be hard to stop off the same mark if seeing out this extra distance. Laura's Breeze is another to strongly consider stepping up in trip, while Rose Light edges out Snooze Lane to be the pick of the remainder.

GET SET JET remains a maiden following eight starts on the other side of the Irish Sea for Ross O'Sullivan, but he showed a fair level of ability in the process and makes his debut for new connections on an attractive mark. He gets the nod ahead of Min Till, who went close over 7.2f here last time and will be a big threat if seeing this trip out. Laura's Breeze and Rose Light are also shortlisted, while Snooze Lane could also have a part to play.

LTO Selection:

20:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Trusty Scout won well over this trip at Kempton a couple of weeks ago and sets the standard off just 3lb higher here. That said, a chance can be taken on the unexposed LOUISIANA BAY, who put in a career best when third at Chelmsford last time and she may improve for a further step up in distance. Others to note are Temur Khan and Moon Over The Sea.

Having shaped with promise back from a five-month break over 8.6f here 3 weeks ago, URBAN CHAMPION could be worth chancing. That was just his seventh career start and there's a good chance that he'll improve for this step up in trip. Trusty Scout is an obvious contender on the strength of his recent Kempton success and is second choice. Louisiana Bay shouldn't be far away if coping well with this stiffer test and Moon Over The Sea also merits respect.

Tony Carroll's C&D scorer MOON OVER THE SEA looks primed to go very well after an encouraging third here last time and he gets the vote.
