There were 44 Races on Friday 17th January 2025 across 6 meetings. There was 8 races at Market Rasen, 7 races at Newcastle, 7 races at Cork, 7 races at Windsor, 7 races at Dundalk, 8 races at Southwell, no doubt Tomform helped you find a winner.

DOUBLE OBAN ran with plenty of credit when returning from a break to fill the runner-up spot at Wetherby on Boxing Day and the five-year-old appears capable of further improvement on just his third start in handicap company. Lahire finished behind the selection on that occasion and is likely to be competitive, while recent C&D winner Magnetic North completes the shortlist.

Plenty of these have questions to answer but DOUBLE OBAN ran a cracker on return from 6 months off when finding just one too strong at Wetherby on Boxing Day, so he's fancied to regain the winning thread at the expense of Lahire, who did too much up front when finishing a couple of places behind the selection last time. Gms Prince can edge out recent C&D winner Magnetic North for third.

This can go to DOUBLE OBAN, who was a good second at Wetherby on Boxing Day and is open to more progress in this sphere.

FINGLE BRIDGE made a successful reappearance over hurdles at Uttoxeter having not seen the racecourse for almost two years. The son of Flemensfirth had created a decent impression when landing a Chepstow bumper in December 2022 and stepping up in trip is unlikely to inconvenience him. Wellington Arch is going the right way in this sphere and appears to be the main threat after his Carlisle success, while better is expected from Dark Mix.

FINGLE BRIDGE and Wellington Arch look the pair to focus on. The former brushed off a 2-year absence when justifying substantial support in impressive fashion on his Uttoxeter hurdling debut just over 5 weeks ago and is narrowly preferred with significant improvement on the cards.

This will probably be fought out by FINGLE BRIDGE and Wellington Arch, who were both convincing winners when last in action.

STORM STAR accounted for Apiarist (second), Popmaster (third) and Symbol Of Light (fourth) over track and trip on New Year's Day and that is likely to be the key piece of form to focus on. Andrew Balding's four-year-old competes off only a 4lb higher rating and it would be no surprise to see him complete a double. Apiarist boosted that form when scoring at Chelmsford last week and he looks the main threat again, while Dragon Icon is another to keep an eye on.

FANTASTIC FOX very much caught the eye on his return, finishing with running left, and that effort should put him spot on for today. The shrewd new ownership of Symbol of Light will have had this race earmarked for a while, so he's respected along with the consistent Storm Star who has two wins at this track already.

The vote goes to DRAGON ICON, beaten a neck by Apiarist on his return from 197 days off here last month. He is now 8lb better off.
Class & Speed Card

PURE STEEL shaped nicely here last month and can step forward now. The Yeats gelding finished fourth to a decent sort in Sky Lord on his track debut having won a point-to-point last March. That form looks strong with the winner finishing fourth in Grade 2 company since and the runner-up, Kappa Jy Pyke, winning at Punchestown on Sunday. Luker's Tipple looks like the obvious danger after finishing runner-up on his hurdling debut at Punchestown. Sean Mc, a half-brother to six-time winner Killiney Court, is a newcomer to note.

LUKER'S TIPPLE shaped with plenty of promise behind a useful prospect on his Punchestown hurdling debut recently and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to go one better. Pure Steel should improve on encouraging debut here last month and can give the selection most to think about ahead of newcomer Sean Mc.

With improvement to come from his pleasing course debut over hurdles, point winner PURE STEEL(nap) can get off the mark now.
Class & Speed Card

Dameofthecotswolds made it three wins from her last four starts at Doncaster in November, but she will need to prove her stamina over this longer trip. With that in mind, EXCELLO looks the way to go. Nicky Henderson's charge has filled the runner-up spot on each on his last two starts, including over 2m4f at this venue last time, and the step back up in trip could work the oracle. Derryhassen Paddy is another to consider.

An interesting novice and cases can be made for all 5. HONKY TONK HIGHWAY has looked a stayer in the making so it's reasonable to assume she'll improve plenty for the marked step up in trip and can take her hurdles record to 2 wins from 3 starts. Dameofthecotswolds has developed into a most likeable sort this season and is very much respected on her first try at 3m, while Clondaw General remains with obvious potential.

This could be as much about potential as form and unbeaten DERRYHASSEN PADDY is preferred despite making the greatest step up in class.
Class & Speed Card

ORBYS RIVER left behind her chase debut effort at Bangor when scoring at Ayr recently and a similar performance on this occasion would make her tough to beat, even with a 7lb penalty to shoulder. My Portia ran well on her return to the larger obstacles at Leicester and is respected along with Amarillobymorning, who boasts an interesting jockey booking in Charlie Deutsch.

MY PORTIA looked an improved model on the back of a 6-month break when chasing home a next-time-out winner at Leicester 6 weeks ago and she could be worth chancing to confirm the promise of that run, operating from her correct mark. Last-time-out winners Orbys River and J'habite En France can also get involved if arriving in the same form. Amarillobymorning needs monitoring in the betting for clues now sent chasing from a basement mark.

A chance is taken on STONY MAN, who drops markedly in trip and sports new headgear on his debut for his up-and-coming new trainer.
Class & Speed Card

CLOUD COVER is a previous C&D winner who struck in Listed company at Deauville last month and she returns to the handicap ranks. James Tate's five-year-old could be up to defying a career-high mark before potentially going back up in class. Moonspirit was victorious in good style at Southwell on her penultimate start and a reproduction of that level of form would give her every chance. Of the remainder, Glorious Angel makes the most appeal with Tom Marquand booked.

CLOUD COVER has won and finished an unlucky third in two listed events of late and that form reads well on her return to handicap company. She gets the vote in a wide-open contest, with Red Maids taken to bounce back after a forgivable below-par effort last time and Ghaihban expected to appreciate the drop in trip to 7f.

Back down in distance on only her second handicap attempt, GHAIHABAN could well reverse Southwell placings with Moonspirit.
Class & Speed Card

WARDENS WHISPER may be able to turn the tables on Liberated Light. The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding went down by half a length to that rival at Limerick over Christmas and is now 4lb better off. He got caught in a pocket turning for home there and didn't help his rider by hanging right. Once he straightened up late on, he finished well and looks capable of striking off this mark. Liberated Light is entitled to be a big player again, despite his 6lb rise. Walk Of The Roses is capable of better than she showed on her Irish debut at Thurles and could get closer now.

WARDENS WHISPER finished a place behind Liberated Light when the pair met at Limerick 21 days ago, yet the latter doesn't boast consistency as his strong suit (also makes mistakes) so it could be worth chancing the former to reverse those placings here. Crescent Moon appeals as a likely improver now handicapping and could also feature.

Surely capable of better than his maiden hurdle showings, a chance is taken on CRESCENT MOON to get off the mark on h'cap debut
Class & Speed Card

HERAKLES WESTWOOD beat Kyntara (fourth) by a wide margin when putting in a bold round of jumping to score in this grade at Newbury last month. Warren Greatrex's eight-year-old might have been let off lightly with only a 7lb rise for that triumph and may have more to offer on only his third chase start. Myretown justified favouritism in easy style at Wetherby on Boxing Day and it would be no surprise to see him get involved. Johnnywho looks best of the rest.

There was plenty to like about MYRETOWN's win at Wetherby on Boxing Day so he gets the vote up 2 lb in what looks an open affair. Herakles Westwood has continued on the upgrade switched to fences this season and is next best ahead of Johnnywho, who will be suited by this stiffer test.

Cases can be made for all of them but HERAKLES WESTWOOD (nap) with his almost relentless improvement looks the safest option.
Class & Speed Card

Numitor has already won a couple of these veterans' series events and is dangerous to rule out on a hat-trick, with a 4lb rise for his latest success at Cheltenham noted as a fair assessment. However, previous course winner GRANDADS COTTAGE bounced back to form with a 10-length triumph at Carlisle last month and looks capable of backing that up off 6lb higher. Nocte Volatus and Onemorefortheroad are the pick of the remainder.

The thriving NOCTE VOLATUS is fancied to resume winning ways tackling a veterans event for the first time. Numitor has an excellent record in these events so has to be feared, while Jetoile makes each-way appeal at bigger odds down in class.

This looks good for NOCTE VOLATUS (nap), who got his career back on track with two wins last year and ran well in defeat last time.
Class & Speed Card

So Darn Hot failed to justify short odds when beaten a neck into second behind Yes I'm Mali over 5f here in November, but the 1lb pull, along with the extra furlong, may help him to overturn that form. Even so, CYCLONITE gets the nod. James Ferguson's three-year-old made his last juvenile start a winning one at Kempton and is only 6lb higher. With a previous course-and-distance victory aiding his cause, he has lots in his favour to go in again. Marchogion warrants a market check on his handicap bow.

BROSAY has resumed from a break for new connections in top form, scoring over the minimum at Southwell at the end of December prior to going close back up to 6f at Lingfield last week. He should go very close indeed turned out again before his new mark (due to go up 2 lb) kicks in. So Darn Hot shaped as though returning to this trip would be in his favour when touched off by the re-opposing Yes I'm Mali here last time and he is feared most ahead of another promising type in Motawahij.

The vote goes to MARCHOGION, ahead of fellow handicap debutant Motawahij. Most of the others have good claims.
Class & Speed Card

Not a strong maiden hurdle and AUTOPORTRAIT should prove hard to beat after a couple of solid placed efforts. The French import bumped into a nice looking sort in Goraibhmaithagat on his Irish debut in Navan and it also looked a hot contest in which he was third to Laafi at Limerick. He takes a big jump up in trip but it looks like a drop in class. The Story So Far sets the standard off his mark of 113. He ran well when chasing home Doitforjane in handicap company at Limerick. Masterboy Davis has been disappointing but might get closer in this company.

AUTOPORTRAIT holds standout claims on his efforts to date for Mouse Morris and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to open his account. The Story So Far can provide the lead threat, ahead of Masterboy Davis.

Though AUTOPORTRAIT is taking a marked step-up in trip, there is stamina in his French pedigree and he appeals as the likely winner.
Class & Speed Card

CALDWELL POTTER arguably had his stamina tested too far when fading into third over 2m5f at Cheltenham last time and this drop in distance looks to be a good move. Paul Nicholls' seven-year-old sets the standard with a rating of 148 and if he can run to near that level, then he will prove very hard to beat. Gidleigh Park was reported to have an irregular heartbeat after running too bad to be true at Kempton on his seasonal return in November and is well worth another chance. You Wear It Well can beat Personal Ambition home for third.

A fascinating Grade 2 and a good chance for CALDWELL POTTER to get back on track. He advanced his form despite meeting with defeat at Cheltenham, when again jumping well in the main, and remains a top prospect for 2m chases. You Wear It Well has a bigger performance in her over fences and could be the danger.

The drop back in trip looks the right move for CALDWELL POTTER for the time being and he can regain the winning thread.
Class & Speed Card

ITHAKA won over this C&D at the start of December and, having also scored with a determined effort at Uttoxeter most recently, there are good reasons to expect another bold showing. Another Lord returned from a break with a close-up second over 2m6f at Uttoxeter last month and should also have more to offer off 4lb higher. Belvedere Blast and the unexposed Caher Roes Den complete the shortlist.

ANOTHER LORD's latest effort was an eye-catching one, a fast-finishing third following a 10-month absence, and he's entitled to build on that run and can land the spoils here. The lightly-raced Caher Roes Den shaped well on handicap debut and rates a serious danger, while course-winner Stay If U Want To is not ruled out on his first try at this trip.

The step up in trip could be ideal for STAY IF U WANT TO and he is taken to post his first handicap win on this drop back in grade.
Class & Speed Card

THE CALTONIAN looked better than ever when scything his way through the field to score over C&D 16 days ago. The second that day subsequently went close at Chelmsford and a 5lb rise may not be enough to prevent Linda Perratt's charge from following up. Coachello capitalised on a tumbling mark at Wolverhampton last month and he's feared most, ahead of the hat-trick seeking Misty Grey.

An ultra-competitive sprint with any number to consider but the vote goes to MARSHMAN, who boasts an excellent record when fresh and has had a breathing operation ahead of his handicap/all-weather debut. Heathcliff has won 4 of his last 6 outings and having been freshened up since his most recent success, he's put forward as the main threat. King's Lynn and recent wide-margin C&D winner Cajetan are another couple worth mentioning, too.

On the back of an emphatic and very solid C&D win, CAJETAN (nap) holds a particularly strong chance. Heathcliff is feared most.
Class & Speed Card

This looks like a nice opportunity for CAST A SPELL. She ran well in a decent conditions race last time when third to Aurora Vega at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day. The Mastercraftsman mare also run a solid race when fourth in handicap company off this mark at Navan previously and Cian Quirke is back on board to take off a useful 5lb. Ad Caelum comes here in fine form and looks an obvious danger. She has won two of her last three but has to defy an 8lb hike for her victory at Limerick. Deons Diamond has been running better over fences but could be place material here.

CAST A SPELL rates the pick of these weights on the back of her good Fairyhouse third so gets the vote. In-form Slim Marvel is next on the list ahead of Ad Caelum and Gers Gigi in this competitive handicap.

With improvement likely from her return over fences at Fairyhouse last time, DEONS DIAMOND could get the job done today.
Class & Speed Card

PARTY VIBES made a pleasing start to life over fences when finishing third behind two smart mares in a warm race at Bangor on her penultimate start, before going two places better at Exeter last month. Stepping up in distance off what looks a workable mark, she gets the vote to land the spoils. Gavin Cromwell's runners should always be respected on these shores and Law Ella looks the main danger following a solid third over an extended 2m3f at Limerick. Panic Attack is also considered.

A case can be made for most of these, but the suggestion is PARTY VIBES, who dug deep to land the odds Exeter last month and Henry Daly's 7-y-o is open to further progress now handicapping in this sphere. Panic Attack has made a positive start for her new yard and, back up in trip/reverted to fences, she can give the selection most to think about, with Irish-raider Law Ella taken to edge out Ilovethenightlife for third.

The vote goes to PANIC ATTACK who can take a healthy step on her comeback trail now that she reverts to fences and 2m4f.

COPPERHEAD has found a new lease of life in the veterans' division this season and he gets the nod to return to winning ways. Joe Tizzard's classy operator went down narrowly over an inadequate trip at Cheltenham last month and, stepping back up in distance off 2lb higher, he could prove tough to stop. Sam Brown has been plying his trade in some hot races of late and he commands respect in this company, while Remastered and Fortescue are also noted as each-way players.

Joe Tizzard has revitalised COPPERHEAD and Eldorado Allen recently and this pair of classy types could be the ones to fight this out, with the former marginally preferred. Empire Steel is reliable at this level, so he's considered a player, too.

Copperhead has found his old steel in a major change of fortunes but ELDORADO ALLEN shaped well behind him last time.
Class & Speed Card

Midnight Lion is chasing a fourth consecutive victory over C&D and the five-year-old is effectively only 3lb higher than his triumph here six days ago if taking Amie Waugh's 3lb claim into consideration. However, this rise into class 2 company does demand more from the son of Nathaniel and handicap debutant NORTHERN RULER may prove to be the better handicapped of the pair. Karl Burke's colt had little difficulty in opening his account on his stable bow at this track recently and there should be more to come. Dark Moon Rising is also noted.

A competitive handicap but OLD HARROVIAN signalled he is ready to go in again when an excellent recent Southwell second and gets the vote, ahead of in-form pair Dream Harder and Northern Ruler.

Unexposed NORTHERN RULER is taken to defy a 5lb penalty and follow up his reappearance win. Dark Moon Rising is second pick.
Class & Speed Card

MIGHTY OAK LAD has gained good experience in handicap company and looks up to winning one of these restricted beginners chases now. The Doyen gelding kept on without troubling the front two when third to Individualiste at Navan last month and this is a nice race for him, for horses rated 100 or less over hurdles. John The Diva ran well in a similar contest at Tramore, when third on his chase debut, and looks like an obvious danger. The Charles Byrnes-trained On Your Way has shown glimpses of ability over timber and is one to note on his chasing bow.

Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and MIGHTY OAK LAD looks the way to go on the back of his excellent Navan handicap third last time out. John The Diva shaped well on his first go over fences when third at Tramore and rates the main threat to Karl Thornton's 7-y-o, while chasing newcomers On Your Way and Jay Pee M also need factoring in, especially if the market speaks in their favour.

Not far off the best of these over hurdles, JOHN THE DIVA made a competent chasing and seasonal debut at Tramore and can collect now

Blueking D'oroux was far from disgraced when fading into sixth in the Long Walk Hurdle over 3m at Ascot last month and, dropping back in trip with his sights lowered, he must enter calculations. That said, it may pay to side with IBERICO LORD. He landed the Greatwood Hurdle and Betfair Hurdle last term and, after not fully convincing with his jumping over fences last time, this smart hurdler can return to winning ways sent back over timber. Salver is also one for the shortlist.

Not for the first time, BLUEKING D'OROUX just seemed to find his stamina stretched late in the day but still emerged with credit when finishing midfield in the Longwalk at Ascot 4 weeks ago. He looks to hold sound claims with his sights lowered back down in trip. Nemean Lion will find this more demanding than his assignment at Hereford but is respected, whilst it's feasible to think Iberico Lord and Salver both have more to offer.

Salver and Iberico Lord remain fascinating propositions but slight preference is for NEMEAN LION and Blueking d'Oroux.

Fergal O'Brien landed this prize with the smart Dysart Enos in 2023 and he will be hoping Dream Shadow is of a similar ilk. She created a favourable impression when winning at the second time of asking under Rules in a Uttoxeter bumper in October and, with the promise of more to come, she must be respected. That said, GETAWHISKY is narrowly preferred. She scored in the style of a potentially smart mare when coming from well off the pace to land the spoils over 2m1f at Carlisle in November. Charisma Cat is also noteworthy.

SMILE BACK created a taking impression when scoring at Carlisle and looks a good prospect. She can take this step up in class in her stride and remain unbeaten. Charisma Cat is an obvious player after making it 2-2 at Warwick, while Dan Skelton, who has a good squad of bumper horses this season, has a strong hand with Getawhisky and Settle Down Jill. Dream Shadow and sole 4-y-o Chatty Girl must also be in calculations.

Fergal O'Brien does extremely well in mares' bumpers and DREAM SHADOW earns the vote ahead of Settle Down Jill.

Recent C&D winner Dreams Adozen merits respect raised just 3lb in the handicap, but ROARING LEGEND could be the answer. The son of Roaring Lion hadn't been seen on the Flat since winning at Pontefract in September 2023, but it was worth the wait as he bolted up over 1m6f at Wolverhampton earlier this month. A 10lb rise will ask sterner questions of him, as will the step up in trip, but he's not fully exposed in this sphere and could have more to offer. Cello heads the remainder.

COOL PARTY scored three times in 2024 and looks the way to go here on the back of a very good Kempton fourth last time out. Roaring Legend made a winning start for Hugo Palmer at Wolverhampton recently and is next on the list, although Arqoob, Cello and Dreams Adozen can all have a say too in this open contest.

Preference is for ROARING LEGEND, who scored in great style on his debut for Hugo Palmer. Cello is second choice.

ROLLY BOWLEY BOY ran into a progressive rival in Folly Master at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and may get his turn now. The Carlotamix gelding made a bold bid from the front there and despite getting 3lb for that effort, he is capable of landing a race of this standard. Global Export comes here in winning form and has to be respected. The Golden Horn gelding got up late on to win his beginners chase at Down Royal and should be competitive off this mark of 118. Top-weight Street Value is tried in blinkers and may be capable of better now down in grade over fences.

GLOBAL EXPORT showed improved form to get off the mark in this sphere at Down Royal 3 weeks ago and he appeals as the type who'll do better again now handicapping. Rolly Bowley Boy made a promising start for this yard when runner-up at Punchestown on his return last month and rates a big threat.

With 7lb claimed ROLLY BOWLEY BOY, a five-time runner-up over fences, is taken to score on his second outing for Philip Rothwell

As expected with a decent pot on offer, this is wide open and only a tentative vote can go to NAVAJO INDY. The son of Nathaniel got off the mark over hurdles at Wincanton last April before returning to win under a penalty at Bangor in October. A mark of 120 proved lenient as he landed the Gerry Feilden at Newbury the following month and further progress could be forthcoming. Kabral Du Mathan lost his unbeaten record in a premier handicap at Ascot last month but that was another excellent performance and he's of obvious interest again, while others to note include Beat The Bat, Knickerbockerglory and Hansard.

HANSARD has a high cruising speed that should be suited to the demands of a well-run, big-field handicap and a very promising comeback effort suggests that Gary Moore's 7 y-o gelding could be as good as ever. He can land this valuable pot at the chief expense of Secret Squirrel who was still in the mix when taking a final flight tumble at Ascot, despite having helped force a strong pace. Of the remainder, progressive 5 y-os Wreckless Eric and Kabral Du Mathan can run well in a wide-open contest.

This could go SECRET SQUIRREL, who was running a fine race in a clear third when falling at the final flight at Ascot last month.

EYED impressed when fairly bolting up here on his penultimate start, before getting no further than the first fence at Lingfield most recently. Provided he is none the worse for that mishap, he gets the nod to return to winning ways. Magical Escape wasn't totally disgraced when fifth over 3m2f on just his second start over fences at Chepstow latest and this unexposed chaser could make his presence felt, along with Knockanore.

Save for his early exit last time, EYED has made a very positive start for this yard and a 9 lb rise for his breakthrough success over fences here in November may not be enough to stop him. Jeffery's Cross put in a decent shift back from a lengthy absence at Windsor and he is greatly respected, while Geryville and Awaythelad have both edged down to attractive marks and will be dangerous if on-song.

Having changed stables this season, EYED could still have more to offer for Hughie Morrison and can add to his win here in November.

Unexposed four-year-old BRAZILIAN ROSE recorded her second C&D success on the bounce last Saturday and, given the manner in which she won that day, the 5lb penalty she must shoulder is unlikely to halt further progress. Hiatus bumped into an in-form rival at Southwell recently and should go close from an unchanged rating, while Strong Power continues to edge down the weights and isn't one to underestimate following a creditable third at Wolverhampton three weeks ago.

BRAZILIAN ROSE's form is on an upward curve so Rebecca Menzies' low-mileage 4-y-o is fancied to defy a 5 lb penalty and complete a C&D hat-trick. Hiatus figures on a handy-looking mark and heads the list of dangers, with Novak, Strong Power and Profit Street all worthy of consideration too.

Hat-trick seeker Brazilian Rose holds obvious claims but a solid alternative is HIATUS, whose latest effort has substance.

ADELA ICON is obviously interesting here on her first start for Willie Mullins. The Snow Sky mare was runner-up in a couple of bumpers back in the summer of 2023 for Harry Kelly. Temple Bloodstock's Aubrey McMahon has done well with his purchases in recent seasons. Lau And Shaz has strong recent form and rates the main danger. Gavin Cromwell's charge was a promising fifth on her hurdling debut last time, having been placed in two bumpers previously. Former Flame was also placed in two bumpers, towards the start of the season, and has to come into calculations.

LAU AND SHAZ was placed in a couple of bumpers before making an encouraging debut over hurdles at Naas last month and shades the vote over Adela Icon, who's coming back from an absence on his first start for Wille Mullins.

It could pay to gamble on the ability of UFOURIA to improve considerably from a comeback run at Limerick. Her 2023 debut was promising

HASTHING shaped with promise over 2m on his chasing debut in November but a step up in trip appeared to hold the key to him as he recorded a comfortable victory over 2m4f here last time. Although 7lb higher, he is unlikely to have reached the ceiling of his ability yet and an extra two furlongs should be beneficial. Stormy Flight pushed an improver all the way at Exeter last month and is of interest off 1lb higher, along with the consistent Jupiter Du Gite.

HASTHING has made a promising start over fences this season, scoring with a bit in hand at this course on his latest outing, so he is taken to follow up with more still to offer as he goes up in distance. Hugos New Horse got back on track when runner-up on chase debut and is another potential improver in the line-up, with Hititi completing the shortlist.

While most can be given an each-way chance, HASTHING and Hold Up La Colmine seem to bring clearly the most potential.

The thoroughly admirable INISHMOT PRINCE can record a 10th career success at this venue. Tom McCourt's gelding has been slow to come to hand this winter but has shaped well enough on a couple of occasions to suggest he can be competitive off this rating. Runner-up in this race last year, the seven-year-old can open his account for the campaign. Dream Today, who beat Inishmot Prince in last years renewal, needs to return to his best to follow up. However, there have been signs in recent months that the gelding remains a force in this grade. Heart Of Darkness is an interesting runner on her debut for Ado McGuinness. A maiden winner over this track and trip, she could be well treated with Jack Kearney claiming 5lb.

MEHMAN just failed in a stronger race here 5 weeks ago, continuing his good run of form at Dundalk, and can deservedly get his head back in front. Last year's 1-2 Dream Today and Inishmot Prince are feared.

First and second in a 5f maiden here last month, MINT MAN can confirm the form with Crystal Luna over this longer trip

The Gerard O'Leary-trained JABBAR can maintain his rapid progress by making a winning return. A consistent handicapper on turf last season, the six-year-old improved each time he was asked to step up in trip. Having arguably run a career best when third over this distance at Naas in October, the Galileo Gold gelding looks the one to beat. A winner on the all-weather at Newcastle for previous connections, he should have no issues with this track. Falcon Eight, who finished one place behind Jabbar at Naas, has to be of interest. Although yet to tackle an artificial surface, the veteran has been running well of late. Prairie Dancer is another with limited experience on the all-weather but he comes here on the back of a win over fences at Thurles.

Tricky stuff but JABBAR didn't run a bad race in either code for Gerard O'Leary last year and could be the way to go ahead of Falcon Eight and Prairie Dancer.

An AW winner in Britain, JABBAR appeals off this mark, ahead of Prairie Dancer
Class & Speed Card

The hat-trick seeking Swinging London commands respect but has never won a race deeper than a class 5 handicap on the Flat and has something to prove back at this level. With that in mind, it can pay to side with fellow last-time-out winner ALPINE OASIS, who looks progressive enough to shrug aside a 6lb higher rating after making all over C&D last month. Wiltshire Wonder and Desert Emperor also offer some appeal stepping up in class after winning their latest efforts.

WILTSHIRE WONDER has shown improved form since going handicapping on the Flat, overcoming a slow start (also hampered) when winning over C&D last time, and he can continue his progress to add to his tally. Heading the list of dangers is Alpine Oasis, who benefited from the step up in trip when making all here 20 days ago, ahead of Desert Emperor.

Having easily made all over C&D last month on her first crack at the trip, the unexposed 4yo ALPINE OASIS (nap) can follow up.

Dual C&D winner MEPHISTO can register a third Dundalk success. Despite finishing runner-up to an easy winner here last time, the Ger Keane-trained gelding has been dropped 1lb. With Jack Kearney able to claim an additional 5lb off his back, the eight-year-old looks well handicapped at present. It would be a surprise if he wasn't very competitive in this bottom grade. Jet Times, a lightly-raced mare who ran a solid race here on her all-weather debut last time, rates a serious danger. With the benefit of that previous experience, the seven-year-old should hold strong claims under Danny Power. A three-time winner for current connections, Portarlington has to be of interest reverting to the Flat.

There was a valid excuse for SCOTT LANG's heavy defeat over hurdles at Leopardstown recently and he is appealing upped in trip off the same mark as when runner-up here in November. Jet Times took a step forward when third on her first attempt over 2m here and she is next on the list ahead of Nusra, while Bright Start is also shortlisted.

The form he has shown over jumps this winter makes PORTARLINGTON hard to ignore off a mark of just 49

CITY OF GOD, who is from the same family as 1000 Guineas and Irish/Yorkshire Oaks winner Blue Bunting, should be wiser after running green over 7f on his debut at Wolverhampton last month. The son of Kodiac got better the further he went on that occasion and stepping up to a mile can be beneficial here. War Hawk is feared most from the rest with experience. Any support in the betting for well-bred debutants Express Train and Tapis Rouge would be highly noteworthy.

CITY OF GOD was green on debut but shaped encouragingly when fourth in a Wolverhampton novice 3 weeks ago, finishing well, and he can build on that effort to open his account. War Hawk has also looked in need of the experience in his 2 starts so far and is respected given the promise he showed first-time up, while newcomer Express Train is one to note.

The choice is CITY OF GOD who showed plenty of promise when fourth on his Wolverhampton debut. That form has already received a boost.

A competitive affair in which FINAL VOYAGE may regain the winning thread for trainer Johnny Murtagh. A winner over a mile here last February, the gelding has the pace to cope with dropping back a furlong. Young apprentice Patrick McGettigan looks good value for his 7lb claim in a race of this nature. The veteran San Andreas has been a revelation of late, winning on his latest two starts. Despite creeping back up the handicap, the nine-year-old could still have more to offer off a mark of 99. Catch The Paddy is likely to make a bold bid from the front once again under James Ryan. It would be a mistake to allow Patrick McKenna's gelding too much leeway.

The vote goes to CATCH THE PADDY, who probably went off a shade too hard when fading into fourth over C&D last month. He had Hightimeyouwon, who rates the main danger, back in fourth when scoring over a mile here on his penultimate start and a reproduction of that would give him every chance. Dontspoilasale is third choice ahead of the hat-trick seeking San Andreas.

Hard to rule out any but a chance is taken on FINAL VOYAGE, ridden to stay the longer trip last time when not at his best

The form of BEAUMADIER's Newcastle success over 5f last week has a solid look and the five-year-old appeals strongly now he has proven that reverting to sprinting can return a dividend. Given the son of Kuroshio is 1lb well-in under a penalty, this slight step up in class is a logical move if the quick turnaround doesn't catch him out. A three-time course winner, Toptime seems to raise his game at this venue and is feared most on that basis. The less exposed Miggy Magic completes the shortlist.

MIGGY MAGIC is bred to be a useful sprinter and could open his account having made a promising start for his new yard here 3 weeks ago. Beaumadier, who landed a gamble for his new stable at Newcastle last week, is the obvious danger under a penalty.

It was an encouraging first run for this yard by MIGGY MAGIC here 19 days ago and this sharper test could work for him.

With the Pat Murphy yard firing on all cylinders at present, FREE SOLO can provide another winner for the popular Kilkenny trainer. A winner off 75 here last January, the gelding showed that his turn was near when runner-up last week. Now down to 64 with Sam Coen able to claim an additional 7lb, it is difficult to bypass the son of Showcasing. Volatile Analyst is undoubtedly well handicapped at present but isn't the easiest to win with. Perhaps the addition of first-time blinkers will help in that regard. I'm Spartacus has been holding his form but appears better over a shorter distance.

The first-time eyeshields appeared to give FREE SOLO a lift here last week when chasing home a bang in-form rival in Cousin Shay (winner again since) and he is taken to go one better back at 7f off the same mark. Fly To Glory has to be respected in his bid for a third win in a row, while I'm Spartacus and Little Keilee both make each-way appeal.

Pat Murphy's FREE SOLO came back to form when runner-up over 1m last time and may go one better

Having hit the frame for the fourth consecutive time when finishing third in a class 2 event at Lingfield on Monday, compensation could be on the cards for EXISTENT. A drop into class 4 company looks a good move for Stuart Williams' gelding and he's fancied to repel chief threat G'day Mate. The Havana Grey gelding was lit up by the cheekpieces on his fourth-placed finish over 6f at the Surrey venue last month and reverting to 5f may see him in a better light. Almaty Star is also of interest on the back of a 118-day break.

G'DAY MATE made a promising return from 5 months off at Lingfield and could be set for a big run if building on that back over 5f. Rhythm N Hooves and the even-more frustrating Existent are a couple of the dangers.

He's been expensive to follow of late but this could be the day that EXISTENT comes good again. Dashing Harry may be next best.

Top-weight MIGDAM can make his class count here under excellent apprentice Nicola Burns. The Ado McGuinness-trained six-year-old has failed to get competitive on his most recent starts but should appreciate dropping back to a mile now. Having run well in stronger races here last winter, the gelding should benefit from this easier task. Recent C&D winner Perfect Judgement is arguably the pick of the two Stephen Thorne-trained runners. The blinkers which appeared to aid his cause on that occasion have been retained here. Mulgrave, a six-time winner here, always commands maximum respect. The faster they go, the better his chances of settling are.

COMFORT LINE has scored twice here in recent months and he encountered traffic problems at a crucial stage when a close third to Shoot To Kill over 7f here last time. He has a good chance of turning the tables on that rival on these revised terms. That said, Shoot To Kill is clearly in good heart and he should be in there pitching once more and Migdam looks dangerous having slipped to an attractive mark.

Preference is for the rock solid COMFORT LINE, as hardy as they come and has a good chance of turning tables with Shoot To Kill

MCKENNA posted his best effort to date when a staying-on fifth over 7f at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. An opening mark of 65 looks workable for George Boughey's gelding and a return to a mile could prove fruitful. Squires Treaty arrives on the back of a respectable third-placed nursery bow over C&D and the Shaman gelding is feared most racing off an unchanged mark, ahead of Brightandbeautiful.

Claims can be made for most here but it would come as a surprise if BLUE SECRET never had a bigger effort in her locker for the William Haggas stable, so she's selected to come out on top on her first crack at 1m. Tiempo Alegre hasn't been shaping at all badly and she's a threat, along with handicap-debutant McKenna. Brightandbeautiful also enters calculations, along with Mrbluesky.

The vote goes to SQUIRES TREATY who would have gone closer with a clear run when third over C&D last month.

IMPERIAL MISS has shaped well enough in similar races this winter to suggest she can open her account in this finale. Since stepping up to this trip, the daughter of Churchill has given the impression she is capable of gaining a victory. In a race where few appear to have genuine chances, she can make the most of the opportunity. The former British-trained Arthur Rose is lightly raced enough to remain of interest in what is just her second start for Mark Fahey. She is stepped up considerably in distance now. Jawhary, who was runner-up here before Christmas, has run well enough in similar races of late. He should pick one up at some stage and this isn't the strongest of contests.

None of these look particularly solid and the suggestion is IMPERIAL MISS, who has improved a touch in C&D handicaps the last twice and this represents a good opportunity for the 4-y-o to open her account. Dromore Glory was a solid second on his latest all-weather start and is preferred to Jawhary for forecast purposes.

The most intriguing is ARTHUR ROSE (nap), who came home well over 1m last week and might just be good enough over this longer trip

The removal of headgear worked a treat for recent C&D scorer A FINE CLARET and another bold bid is forecast. Karl Burke's inmate opened his account with enough in hand to suggest that a 4lb higher mark is tolerable and a brace may beckon. Top Biller made all at Wolverhampton six days ago, but he has more on his plate here under a penalty. With that in mind, a bigger threat may emerge from Grey Operations, who finished behind the selection in second last time out.

A FINE CLARET was well suited by the strong pace when opening his account over C&D 13 days ago, never far away and running on to see off the re-opposing Grey Operations by 1¼ lengths. Karl Burke's 3-y-o is fancied to confirm those placings here, with Wolverhampton-scorer Top Biller another to consider. Little Bittern is a handicap debutant to note, particularly if strong in the betting.

Things fell into place for A FINE CLARET when beating Grey Operations in good style over C&D last time and he looks the best option.

A change of tactics and an ease in grade paid dividends for CLOCH NUA, who was on target in a similar event at Newcastle earlier this month. Stella Barclay's charge is once again weighted to go well so, kept to the same level, it would come as no surprise were he able to follow up. That said, Charlatan landed a C&D handicap on Tuesday and he must be taken very seriously along with Alyara, who looks certain to benefit from returning to a mile.

CHARLATAN confirmed the promise of his previous run when recording a cosy success over this C&D on Tuesday and he looks the one to beat on these terms. Cloch Nua did well to score at Newcastle 2 weeks ago and is the obvious threat with Calcutta Dream best of the others.

Tuesday's C&D winner CHARLATAN has to concede weight all round but he's right back on song and could outclass these.

The vote goes to JUST TYPICAL, who finished a creditable second at Newcastle last time out and he would not need much more to come out on top in a race of this nature. Masham Moor was slightly unfortunate not to have finished even closer over C&D last month having met trouble and he remains of interest, while others to note include Quick Away and Dash Power.

A reproduction of JUST TYPICAL's close second in a similar event at Newcastle last week would make him the one to beat. Dash Power is shaping up well for his current yard so is feared most ahead of Masham Moor.

The suggestion is MASHAM MOOR who should be heavily involved if repeating his latest close third in a handicap.
Ths is the racecard key.
