1st (2) (4/7 +77%)Gnomon |
4/7(+77%) | (2) Gnomon 4/7, Ran to form just unable to reel in winner who got first run when second beaten a neck in a maiden hurdle at Taunton latest; effective at 2m on good to soft and good; more to come over hurdles from multiple Flat winner; obvious claims here. This longer trip could trigger the improvement he'll need to trouble West Hill Verde. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +38%)The Egyptian Ginge |
5/2(+38%) | (3) The Egyptian Ginge 5/2, Returned to best up in trip when second beaten 2 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Haydock latest; effective 2m-2m3f, acts on good to soft, good; back in form, vulnerable to less exposed rival. 0-8 but latest second in a Haydock handicap was right up there with his best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (22/1 -83%)Mahon Falls |
22/1(-83%) | (5) Mahon Falls 22/1, Bit below form on testing ground 26l third in a maiden hurdle at Cork most recent run; trainer in form; returning from a break; effective 2m, acts on soft, good; Irish form franked at Graded level, threat if fit for stable debut. Runner up in a bumper and two maiden hurdles for Willie Mullins; can win races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 +50%)Bathara |
8/1(+50%) | (1) Bathara 8/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle latest; off a short-break; effective 2m, acts on good; consistent in bumpers, capable of much better than debut effort over hurdles. Bumper winner; bled from the nose when pulled up on hurdle debut (5-1). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

WEST HILL VERDE outran odds of 33/1 to finish third in a Grade 2 at Kelso a month ago and a reproduction of that level of form would make him hard to beat at this level. That said, Gnomon has been knocking hard on the door of late, including a neck defeat at Taunton last time, and he should not be discounted. The rest all have claims, but The Egyptian Ginge is the pick of them.

This looks a good opportunity for WEST HILL VERDE who is by no means your typical eight-race maiden given the form he has.

1st (3) (15/8 -25%)Sherborne |
15/8(-25%) | (3) Sherborne 15/8, Did it cosily, improved on recent form continuing excellent course record landing a handicap by 14l off a 7lb lower mark at Exeter last time; effective 2m4f-2m6f, acts on any; back in form this year but revised mark demands more. Exeter race fell apart and he's up 7lb; however, has shown he can deal with this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3/1 +0%)Diplomatic Ash |
3/1(+0%) | (4) Diplomatic Ash 3/1, Up in trip, didn't stay when fourth beaten 21l in a handicap chase at Kempton latest; effective up to 2m4f, acts on soft and good; form in and out; needs this drop back in distance. Well in on winning form a year ago; didn't appear to stay 3m latest; cheekpieces back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2/1 +11%)Noahsgreatrainbow |
2/1(+11%) | (2) Noahsgreatrainbow 2/1, Ran to form, not knocked about late when second beaten 13l in a handicap chase at Doncaster latest; impressive winner on chase debut earlier in season; trainer in form; effective around 2m4f on soft, good; capable of better over fences. Hasn't built on his winning start over fences but he's in a race here with little depth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (12/1 -20%)Moroder |
12/1(-20%) | (1) Moroder 12/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Doncaster latest where unsuited by soft ground; suited by good and 3m; unreliable, likes to dominate but fairly treated if getting conditions. Becoming hard to predict but has won out of the blue in the past; earns respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/1 +38%)Limetree Boy |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Limetree Boy 10/1, Taken on up front and did plenty early well beaten in a handicap chase at Exeter latest; effective 2-3m, acts on any; frustrating maiden over fences. 0-15 over fences but placed a few times; has to rebound from two below-par efforts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SHERBORNE had 14 lengths in hand over his nearest rival when scoring at Exeter 12 days ago and Joe Tizzard's gelding is hard to oppose on the back of that performance, despite a 7lb rise. Noahsgreatrainbow hit the crossbar at Doncaster on his most recent outing and may have to settle for second once again, while Limetree Boy is the pick of the remainder.

For all that his recent form figures hardly bode well, MORODER can return to form from out of the blue and he'll love this ground.

10/1(+0%) | (4) King Al 10/1, Ran to form just flattening out after meeting trouble comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Warwick last time; in good form prior; effective 2m, acts with cut; consistent in both codes, bit more needed to defy this hurdles mark. Ludlow winner; took on older horses last time; others might be on kinder marks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (25/1 -79%)Mojito Des Mottes |
25/1(-79%) | (7) Mojito Des Mottes 25/1, Travelled but green under pressure, ran to form when fourth beaten 9 1/4l in a 4yo hurdle at Newbury latest; effective 2m1f, acts on very soft, good; capable of better for this yard judged on French form. French winner; underwhelming so far in Britain but has undergone a wind operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (5/1 +58%)Gallivanted |
5/1(+58%) | (13) Gallivanted 5/1, Travelled, ran to form but possibly challenged too soon 18l third in a 4yo hurdle at Huntingdon most recent run; trainer in form; effective at 2m, acts on soft; in good form in both codes; threat off light weight. Made most at Musselburgh but looks vulnerable on his two efforts either side of that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 +9%)The Bellhop |
10/1(+9%) | (6) The Bellhop 10/1, Not knocked about when beaten, improved beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Sandown last time; effective 2m, acts on any; yard does well with similar types, bit more to come. Dual winner and enough promise in his Sandown run to believe this mark is doable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (25/1 +38%)Bandjo |
25/1(+38%) | (3) Bandjo 25/1, Down the field in McCoy Contractors Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham most recent; effective 2m, acts on soft; winner in France where showed useful form, capable of better than showed in hot race on stable debut. Ran okay on UK debut in the Fred Winter but he's probably too high in the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (10/1 +0%)Cayman Dancer |
10/1(+0%) | (10) Cayman Dancer 10/1, Landed a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 41lb lower mark at Wolverhampton in October; effective 2m, acts on soft, good to soft; progressive on flat, more to come over hurdles now handicapping. Dual Flat winner; demoted from first in a Fontwell maiden; likely to need more here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (11/4 +39%)Macshadow Des Crai |
11/4(+39%) | (12) Macshadow Des Crai 11/4, Ran to form but did a bit too much too soon in front when second beaten 1 1/4l in a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen latest; effective 2m, acts on soft; French bumper form took big boost in UK over hurdles, may do better in handicaps and fancied to reverse form with re-opposing rival. Outstayed by Senator last time on soft; drier ground this time and he's had a wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (13/8 +7%)Munsif |
13/8(+7%) | (1) Munsif 13/8, Ran to form, conceded first run to front pair 7 1/4l third in a maiden hurdle at Navan most recent run; effective at 2m, acts on soft and good; multiple Flat winner surely has more to offer over hurdles now handicapping with a top jockey booked. Useful Flat horse; plenty of promise over hurdles on ground perhaps too slow; h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (50/1 +24%)Paddockwood |
50/1(+24%) | (2) Paddockwood 50/1, Too keen up in class on stable debut, may have found ground too quick down the field in McCoy Contractors Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham most recent; effective 2m, acts on soft; progressive in France where a winner over hurdles, mark demands more. Did well in France but raced far too freely on British debut in the Fred Winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (33/1 +0%)Galactique |
33/1(+0%) | (8) Galactique 33/1, Unsuited by rain softened ground, needed run comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Sandown last time; effective 2m on decent ground; yard does well with ex flat horses in this discipline, can do better in handicaps on quicker surface. Dual Fontwell winner; finished last on handicap debut and didn't look that straightforward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

MUNSIF has caught the eye on multiple occasions over hurdles in recent months and it would be no surprise to see him get off the mark over timber now switched to handicap company. Mojito Des Mottes is another likely to benefit from entering handicaps and he should not be underestimated. Senator (first) and Macshadow Des Crai (second) are closely matched based on their Market Rasen encounter last month and both make the shortlist as a result.

Smart Flat performer MUNSIF (nap) could be seen in a much better light as a jumper now encountering good ground on his handicap debut.

1st (3) (16/5 -83%)Haas Boy |
16/5(-83%) | (3) Haas Boy 16/5, Improved again for cosy win though race fell apart landing a handicap by 10l off a 8lb lower mark at Wincanton last time; effective at 2-2 1/2m; thriving this term, still well treated on best form. Having a good season in this headgear combination and has to rate a strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/4 +21%)Authoceltic |
11/4(+21%) | (4) Authoceltic 11/4, Outpaced, couldn't go gallop, below form comfortably held in a handicap chase at Ludlow last time; in good form prior; returning from a break; effective 2m, acts on good to soft, good; more to come judged on old hurdle form, may get further. Improved on good ground at Wincanton; good to soft perhaps not ideal at Ludlow latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/4 +42%)Pure Carbon |
7/4(+42%) | (2) Pure Carbon 7/4, Scored by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Musselburgh penultimate start; outstayed late over further last time; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m2f, suited by sound surface; progressing over fences, rain no good to his chance. Two wins and as many seconds in his completed starts over fences; ran well last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 -9%)Cobbler's Boy |
6/1(-9%) | (5) Cobbler's Boy 6/1, Too much to do after series of errors when fourth beaten 17l in a handicap chase at Stratford latest; usually held up; effective 2m, acts on good to soft and good; fair mark on hurdle form, likely capable of better over fences when getting ground, stiffer track may suit. It's been a ropey start over fences; much depends on whether he needs this good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/2 +21%)Yes Indeed |
11/2(+21%) | (1) Yes Indeed 11/2, Pulled up in Sun Racing Plate Handicap Chase at Cheltenham latest where outclassed; cheekpieces first time; effective 2-3m; needs this drop in grade and trip; very interesting with easy lead likely. This is not so demanding as Cheltenham race last time; tries new cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having run out a ready winner at Wincanton earlier this month, Haas Boy must enter calculations in his current vein of form. However, an 8lb hike from the assessor does demand more of the nine-year-old and it could be worth taking a chance on COBBLER'S BOY. Dan Skelton's inmate has crept down the ratings and returning to a sounder surface could see him back in the winner's enclosure. Pure Carbon is the pick of the remainder.

This is trappy but AUTHOCELTIC can be expected to perform better than last time, prior to which he had looked a chaser to follow.

13/2(+19%) | (6) Kilworth 13/2, Scored by 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Taunton penultimate start; effective 3m, acts on good to soft; may have bit more to offer in handicaps. Won handicap debut at Taunton (good to soft) over extended 3m; ran poorly five weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3/1 -20%)Hard Dealt |
3/1(-20%) | (2) Hard Dealt 3/1, Ran to form beaten 2 1/4l off a 3lb lower mark at Haydock last time; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on good to soft, good; in good form, unexposed over staying trips. Twice a flop in her five handicaps but second in the other three, including at 3m latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/2 +32%)Kiwi Rush |
15/2(+32%) | (1) Kiwi Rush 15/2, Never in the race under change of tactics down the field in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton most recent; trainer in form; effective 2m-2m4f acts on soft and good; needs to learn to settle and jump, finishing efforts a worry going up in trip. Needs to rebound from poor handicap debut and also to find improvement over this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (9/1 -13%)A Good Yomp |
9/1(-13%) | (9) A Good Yomp 9/1, Outpaced, ran to form but appeared unsuited by drop in trip 6 1/4l third in a handicap hurdle at Warwick most recent run; effective 2m4f on soft, good to soft; in form, mark demands more. Experienced and running well but latest start was 2m, which casts doubt over this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (20/1 +20%)Alan Bresil |
20/1(+20%) | (4) Alan Bresil 20/1, Outpaced, never threatened well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wincanton latest; effective around 2m5f, acts on good; needs more in handicaps. Beaten 19l and 14l in his two handicaps (2m7f/3m); needs overall improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/4 +8%)Joyau Allen |
11/4(+8%) | (7) Joyau Allen 11/4, Ran to form 20l third in a novice hurdle at Taunton most recent run; off a short-break; effective 2m3f, acts on heavy; bumper winner could improve now handicapping up in trip. The step up in trip and handicap debut could reveal him in a new light. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (11/1 +8%)Low Expectations |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Low Expectations 11/1, Far too free up in class well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon latest; off a short-break; effective over 2-2m4f, acts on soft and good to soft; more needed off this mark. Backward steps on last two outings; free-going tendency is a concern for this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (5/1 +23%)Glance Of Glory |
5/1(+23%) | (3) Glance Of Glory 5/1, Fell early in a handicap hurdle at Newbury latest; cheekpieces first time; effective 2-2 1/2m, barely get 3m, acts on soft, good; improving but stamina concerns. Creditable fourth at 3m; disputed favouritism last month but clipped heels and slipped up. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With five defeats to her name this season, HARD DEALT has proved expensive to follow. Although a 3lb higher mark for her latest second at Haydock will only make life tougher for Henry Daly's mare, she is unexposed over this sort of trip and could be poised to repay her supporters. Kilworth was too bad to be true when pulled up at Plumpton 34 days ago and better is expected over this longer distance. Handicap debutant Joyau Allen is a feasible alternative.

Hard Dealt and Kilworth produced their best form at this sort of trip but may prove vulnerable to handicap newcomer JOYAU ALLEN.

1st (4) (11/4 +31%)Hold Your Fort |
11/4(+31%) | (4) Hold Your Fort 11/4, Unseated in a handicap chase at Taunton latest when going well in front; effective 3m-3m2f on good and good to firm; back from a break with more to offer. Unseated three weeks ago but he's a big player judged on his autumn form on good to firm. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/8 +31%)Gabbys Cross |
11/8(+31%) | (3) Gabbys Cross 11/8, Travelled but out-battled and outstayed late having looked winner beaten a neck off a 4lb lower mark at Newbury last time; effective 2 1/2-3m; ex-Irish, very well treated if building on latest. No win since 2022 but nearly put that right in cheekpieces against Copperhead last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/8 +28%)Copperhead |
13/8(+28%) | (1) Copperhead 13/8, Needed every yard, outstayed rivals, back on last winning mark, returned to form landing a Veterans' Handicap Chase by a neck off a 5lb lower mark at Newbury last time; effective 3m, acts on good to soft, good; veteran will need more off revised mark. Battled back to pip Gabbys Cross at Newbury; highest mark since 2022 but major respect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Having only been collared by reopposing winner Copperhead at Newbury 29 days ago, GABBYS CROSS is taken to exact his revenge. The 11-year-old should relish a drop back in distance and the booking of champion jockey Sean Bowen catches the eye. Certainly Red returned from a 455-day layoff with a very respectable third at Sandown earlier this month and he may serve the most resistance to the selection.

This has the potential to be a fine scrap, despite only the four declarations, but COPPERHEAD may follow up his Newbury win.

Won at Sandown (2m4f) in November; much more like it again on latest start (2m); new trip. |

Took a four-runner handicap at Plumpton (2m2f) 13 days ago; needs a career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (16/1 +0%)Whatsupwithyou |
16/1(+0%) | (4) Whatsupwithyou 16/1, Stiff mark well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Kempton latest; effective 2 1/2m; in form veteran not always the most willing in a finish. C&D win (4lb higher today) in December; 33-1 when tailed off at Kempton five weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (50/1 -79%)Everyonesgame |
50/1(-79%) | (9) Everyonesgame 50/1, Ran to form but well held up in grade beaten 6l in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time; returning from a break; effective 2 1/2-3m, acts on good; back in form. Won at Kempton (3m, good) in November; respectable 7th of ten at Cheltenham in December. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (15/2 -88%)Brave Knight |
15/2(-88%) | (1) Brave Knight 15/2, Outpaced, rallied, improved proving stamina at sharp track landing a handicap by 2 1/2l off a 5lb lower mark at Taunton last time; off a short-break; effective 2m-2m3f, acts on good; revised mark demands more but not ruled out. 5-10 as hurdler, including 2m1f/2m3f wins on two of last three starts; unraced at this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/2 +65%)Lovely Gino |
7/2(+65%) | (6) Lovely Gino 7/2, Fell in a Listed race chase at Auteuil latest when beaten; effective 2m2f-2m6f; hurdles and chase winner in France, mark demands more. French chase/hurdle winner in 2025, both at about 2m3f; absent since October. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Dramatic Encore looked inconvenienced by a drop back in distance when landing the spoils in a four-runner affair at Plumpton recently and she merits respect in her follow-up bid. Although a return to an extended 2m5f should suit, a rise in class does demand more of the six-year-old, and BRAVE KNIGHT is more compelling. Paul Nicholls' charge got the better of a subsequent winner at Taunton 80 days ago and a 5lb higher mark looks surmountable. Ludlow scorer Royal Way is also worth a second look.

Whatsupwithyou is interesting on this return to the scene of his December win but ROYAL WAY finished well on top ten days ago.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
