|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (10/3 +5%)Visual Impact |
10/3(+5%) | (3) Visual Impact 10/3, Outpaced and never threatened when well beaten in a handicap chase here latest. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 +29%)Whispering Dancer |
20/1(+29%) | (6) Whispering Dancer 20/1, Never jumped or travelled when pulled up in a handicap chase at Carlisle latest. Effective from 2m5f to 3m on soft ground, but major improvement is needed. Not devoid of promise over C&D last month but two lesser runs have followed elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having been held up in his first two chasing attempts, ORKNEY BLUE was the beneficiary of a more positive ride at Carlisle last time. Nick Alexander's charge is 6lb higher now but remains open to further improvement and he receives a confident vote. Blakey Boy has been knocking on the door of late and is the main threat, ahead of Rob Roy Macgregor.

The unexposed 8yo ORKNEY BLUE (nap) got off the mark in a big field at Carlisle recently on his second chase start and can follow up.

12/1(+14%) | (5) Union Avenue 12/1, Well fancied but found nil and looked in need of the run when pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Hexham latest. Off a short break, effective at 2m and acts with cut. Dual bumper winner who was ninth in the Champion Bumper and can surely leave that poor run behind. Useful in bumpers in 2023-24 season; pulled up on sole run since but not written off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Each of these arrive with some kind of chance, but it is STRIDE ON that gets the nod. The Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore inmate chased home a 132-rated rival here in November and had excuses when a beaten favourite at Carlisle the following month. If the break has freshened him up, he ought to go close. Irish Champ and Zamek head the list of dangers.

Having had an excuse at Carlisle last time, STRIDE ON is taken to tap back into the promise shown here in November.

1st (1) (14/1 -115%)Dubai Days |
14/1(-115%) | (1) Dubai Days 14/1, Made mistakes and may not have stayed when well beaten in a handicap chase at Aintree last time; usually held up and off a short break. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4/1 -33%)Big John Wayne |
4/1(-33%) | (2) Big John Wayne 4/1, Outpaced and in need of the run when unsuited by the drop in trip, but still ran to form on chase debut here last time. Was in good form prior, effective at 2m4f-3m, and should come on for that back up in trip. Interesting contender now back up in trip on handicap debut and second chase start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (40/1 -186%)One Mill Harbour |
40/1(-186%) | (4) One Mill Harbour 40/1, Far too free up in trip and did not stay when pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and heavy; stamina may again be an issue. The return to fences may help but he has lots to prove regarding current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

40/1(-60%) | (7) Don Occhetti 40/1, May have found the ground on the soft side when beaten 16l into third in a handicap chase here on his most recent run. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (16/1 -146%)Dance Thief |
16/1(-146%) | (5) Dance Thief 16/1, Had every chance but was a bit below form when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap hurdle here last time. Returning from a break, effective at 2m and acts with cut; generally consistent and an Ayr specialist. On a competitive season's on last season's chase form but that was over 2m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Tommy Combats recorded a comfortable success over an extended 2m here last month and is respected given that, but JACCOURS is preferred. Connections waste no time in sending the Gris De Gris gelding over a fence having won his maiden hurdle at Ffos Las recently and that could unlock even greater progress. Veteran Dubai Days has struggled this term, but a drop in class should aid his cause.

The very lightly raced 8yo BIG JOHN WAYNE could be on a good mark now back up in trip in his first handicap and he earns the vote.

1st (2) (4/11 +60%)Next Twist |
4/11(+60%) | (2) Next Twist 4/11, Travelled well and improved again when just worn down late by a rival receiving weight, beaten 2l in a novice hurdle here latest; effective at 2m, acts with cut; progressive and has a good chance in this. Won at Southwell then runner-up here, and he holds strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

28/1(-56%) | (3) Linalene 28/1, Below form and a late error did not help when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Kelso latest; off a short break; effective at 2m, acts on soft and good; a bounce back is needed. Has shown ability but work to do to threaten the two previous winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/4 -105%)Green Hope |
9/4(-105%) | (1) Green Hope 9/4, Improved to get off the mark when causing a big shock in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal, winning by 1/4l last time; effective at 2m1f on yielding to soft; almost certainly has more to offer. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (100/1 -25%)Luckie Devil |
100/1(-25%) | (4) Luckie Devil 100/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster latest; effective at 2m and acts on good ground; plenty to prove. Runner-up in bumper on debut but pulled up at big odds on both hurdle starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The Irish challenger GREEN HOPE failed to complete over 2m4f on hurdles debut but showed his true colours at Down Royal last month. Dropped in trip, the five-year-old found plenty in the closing stages to open his account over timber and further improvement looks on the cards. The convincing winner of a maiden hurdle at Southwell, Next Twist found one too good in testing conditions here last time. He looks the main danger with Linalene perhaps best of the remainder back on soft ground.

Having won at Southwell in November NEXT TWIST was a clear second under a penalty here last time and is taken to return to winning ways.

11/2(+21%) | (10) The Jeweller's Pet 11/2, Won this race last year and ran to form but had too much to do after a series of errors when beaten 2 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark here last time. Effective at 2m4f on heavy and good. Could build on his return to hurdles. Last year's winner who returned to form when third over C&D a fortnight ago; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/1 +27%)Jericoacoara |
8/1(+27%) | (2) Jericoacoara 8/1, Ran to current form when beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (10/1 -18%)Nellie Bluesky |
10/1(-18%) | (8) Nellie Bluesky 10/1, Had too much to do but just failed when beaten a head off a 1lb lower mark at Sedgefield last time, returning to form up in trip. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (25/1 -108%)Balking |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Balking 25/1, Suited by the drop in trip and improved after a wind operation despite not getting the best of runs when beaten 2l off a 5lb lower mark at Wetherby last time. Returning from a long layoff and now 5lb higher, with more to come. Runner-up on h'cap debut last January; absent since but bang there if at top of his game. |

Cheekpieces are fitted for the first time. Effective at 3m in points but needs more. He's achieved very little under rules but has won a point; watch the market on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (100/1 -525%)The Navigator |
100/1(-525%) | (5) The Navigator 100/1, Found nil and was well below form in his hat-trick bid when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Kelso most recent. In good form prior and returning from a break. Effective over 2m-2m4f on soft and good but a bounce back is needed. 11yo who won three times last August-October but tailed off in November when last seen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THE JEWELLER'S PET won this off a similar mark last year and signalled a return to form back over C&D last time. Not beaten far in third on that occasion, a bold bid is anticipated from Ian Duncan's charge with the underfoot conditions also in his favour. The Navigator landed a double on faster going at Kelso last autumn, but Diamond Geezer may prove a bigger threat fresh from a convincing success under Sean Bowen here last time.

The 4yo LIGHTS GO DOWN looks to be on a good mark for his handicap debut and gets the nod ahead of The Jeweller's Pet.

13/8(+19%) | (3) Jardin De Tunis 13/8, Improved to get off the mark when winning a maiden point at Knockmullen House by a length last time. Returning from a break, was effective at 3m in points and brings plenty of potential to rules racing. Bought for £220,000 after winning a point; could play a leading role on bumper debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (13/8 +19%)Lirion |
13/8(+19%) | (5) Lirion 13/8, Promising debut runner-up when beaten 11l in a bumper at Huntingdon on his only start. Returning from a long layoff, was effective at 2m on good to soft; that debut came behind a smart hurdler and improvement is likely. Bumped into classy sort when 11l second last March on sole start; firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

28/1(0%) | (2) C'mon So 28/1, Outpaced and comfortably held on a modest debut in an Amateurs' bumper at Southwell last time. Off a short break and looks one for further down the line, with hurdling likely to be more suitable. Showed ability in a point but well beaten at 28-1 in his sole bumper. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Kilaro won a bumper at Musselburgh prior to disappointing at Newcastle last time and a hood is applied for this. Kingsman Mail failed to build on his promising second here when well beaten on his return to the track, so a chance is taken on JARDIN DE TUNIS. Related to jumps winners in France, the Irish point-to-point winner debuts for the Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore's yard and may prove good enough on his Rules debut.

Having changed hands for £220,000 after winning a point last November, JARDIN DE TUNIS can make a winning bumper debut.

Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
