Karl Burke has enjoyed another fine season with his youngsters so far and HALF SOVEREIGN could enhance that record further. The daughter of Ten Sovereigns did plenty wrong on her debut at Redcar, but she hit the line strongly to pick up fourth in the closing stages. Stepping up to seven furlongs looks certain to suit and she's expected to take the necessary step forward. The Caddy Master is another that appears likely to benefit from a rise in distance, while Folk Pageant appeals most of the newcomers.

Redcar eyecatcher HALF SOVEREIGN gets the vote ahead of The Caddy Master.

The vote goes to INANNA, who has been running well in defeat recently. The Acclamation mare hasn't quite had the pace of her rivals over 6f, so returning to this trip should help, and she is only 2lb above her last winning mark. Wish This has yet to score but there were encouraging signs at the Curragh last time and he must be of interest now in the care of Alan Brown. Arbitration is another to consider.

The withdrawal of Quest For Fun, who would have been the selection, promotes ARBITRATION to first choice. Inanna is second pick.

ABDUCTION ended a barren spell when successful in this grade at Hamilton last time. Jim Goldie's charge remains on a winning mark, despite a 4lb rise, and can launch another bold bid with the underfoot conditions remaining in his favour. Orbital Chime will also appreciate any ease in the ground as he looks to build on a recent third at the track, while Aberama Gold ran well off a much higher mark here last summer and could bounce back at any time.

The return to 6f suited ABDUCTION when he led near the line at Hamilton and his C&D form in the autumn was also encouraging.

50/1(-178%) | (4) Bonito Cavalo 50/1, Suits this course and distance; beaten by a length off the mark of 77 over 5 furlongs at Newcastle last time; top course jockey/trainer combination; off a long absence here; needs to be fit and ready to pounce here Transformed on AW, going up 32lb, but brings that mark back to turf after 471 days away. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A recent winner at Chester, Arabian Cobra arrives in fine form, but the three-year-old takes on older sprinters on this occasion and ONE NIGHT THUNDER is marginally preferred. Gemma Tutty's inmate could only finish sixth at Pontefract last time, but that effort can be marked up given he ran into a wall of horses in the closing stages, and he looks one to keep on the right side of. Lion's House remains unexposed and is another to note.

The 3yo TARLAC looks to have more improvement in him and can land a second success.

There was cut in the ground when UNICO finished an encouraging second at Goodwood last month. Chris Gordon's filly has eased in the weights since her last success and looks up to carrying top weight to victory in this lower grade. Crocodile Power also faces an easier assignment than when runner-up at Catterick in May and he can have a say in the outcome, while Newcastle third Cuban Storm returns to the turf with a shout off his current mark.

Unexposed 3yo BRAVE BOB looks particularly interesting and he is first choice ahead of Superior Council.

Harswell Duke has filled the runner-up spot in two of his last three starts in class 5 handicaps and will appreciate this drop in grade. Trais Fluors showed more when third over 7f here in May, but the vote goes to EY UP ITS JAZZ. The six-year-old faded into third when attempting to make all at Carlisle last month and the assessor may have been kind to leave his mark alone. With a similar effort, he could be the one to beat.

Jim Goldie's BRAES OF DOUNE was second at this level on his last visit here before flying too high in a Class 4 at Hamilton.

28/1(-27%) | (12) Moonlit Stage 28/1, Didn't stay the trip when coming fourth and beaten by 27 lengths in a handicap over 1m6f at Wolverhampton latest; cheekpieces fitted for the first time; off a short-break; bit to find here Out of sorts in both runs this season and needs a major revival back on turf. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Billy No Mates finished just under four lengths clear of Ebony Maw (third) when hitting the crossbar at Hamilton last month and is expected to confirm that form. However, TROJAN SOLDIER had a subsequent winner behind when beaten a length into second at this level at Hamilton in May and is just 1lb higher. This extra furlong could eke out further improvement and he can make his third handicap start a victorious one.

Plenty have possibilities but the lightly raced 3yo TROJAN SOLDIER gets the vote ahead of the in-form veteran Billy No Mates.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
