1st (3) (8/13 +67%)Halftheworldaway |
8/13(+67%) | (3) Halftheworldaway 8/13, Ran to form down in trip when second, beaten 9 1/2l, in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter latest; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on soft. That run has been boosted and she should remain competitive. Clear second behind a Skelton favourite at Uttoxeter; should be very competitive here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/1 -29%)Geordies Betty |
11/1(-29%) | (2) Geordies Betty 11/1, Improved for her debut experience when fourth, beaten 9 1/2l, in a novice hurdle at Taunton latest; effective at 2m and acts with cut. That form has been franked and she is a threat if getting a decent test. Ran well for an 80-1 chance when beaten under 10l behind an odds-on favourite at Taunton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -33%)Iamyouare |
12/1(-33%) | (4) Iamyouare 12/1, Made too much use of when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Bellewstown most recent; effective at 2m3f and acts on good ground. Needs more starting out for a new yard. Showed something on debut in Ireland but produced a lesser performance next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (11/1 +0%)Ufouria |
11/1(+0%) | (9) Ufouria 11/1, Poorly placed at a sharp track behind an all-the-way winner when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Warwick last time; effective at 2m and acts on yielding to soft and good. Irish bumper winner, hurdles form franked, but this mark demands more. No closer than 15l for current yard; handicapping the last twice; some chance here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (25/1 +11%)Fine As Wine |
25/1(+11%) | (1) Fine As Wine 25/1, Outclassed and comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Leicester last time; looks the type to do better once switched to handicapping. Struggled since returning from a long absence and she now has a basement mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (66/1 -676%)Vale Of Tears |
66/1(-676%) | (10) Vale Of Tears 66/1, Modest effort when 11l fourth in a maiden point at Loughanmore on debut; returning from a long layoff and may find 2m sharp enough on her rules debut. Beaten about 10l in an Irish point and the winner has landed a bumper for Gavin Cromwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (125/1 -25%)Shouldvebeenshav |
125/1(-25%) | (8) Shouldvebeenshav 125/1, Never involved and down the field in a maiden hurdle at Wetherby most recent; off a short break and plenty more is needed. Third in a point bumper; opposable on what she's shown in a bumper and maiden hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (300/1 -50%)Seekingrainbows |
300/1(-50%) | (7) Seekingrainbows 300/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter latest; may need more time and could be suited by low-grade handicaps if she is to come good. 500-1 when pulled up on her belated debut in a recent maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter (soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (10/3 -67%)Longhouse Gem |
10/3(-67%) | (5) Longhouse Gem 10/3, Very promising debut when third, beaten 4 1/2l, in a maiden point at Dromahane; tongue-tie fitted for the first time. Has joined a top yard that can get them ready first time and is of interest. One of the favourites when not beaten far into third in a mares' maiden point in Ireland. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (16/1 -45%)Looks Matter |
16/1(-45%) | (6) Looks Matter 16/1, Modest debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Sligo last time; returning from a break. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; the form of her debut bumper run has been franked and there may be more to come in this discipline. Modest form when narrowly beaten in a Hexham bumper; tailed off on hurdle/stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having reached the frame on both outings over hurdles, HALFTHEWORLDAWAY could be poised to open her account. The five-year-old finished 15 lengths clear of the third at Uttoxeter last time out and a repeat of that performance may prove sufficient. Point-to-point third Longhouse Gem is a potential fly in the ointment on her Rules bow and market support could prove significant. Geordies Betty is the pick of the remainder.

In a weak maiden it's not hard to take a chance on LONGHOUSE GEM who has joined Ben Pauling since running well in an Irish point.

1st (2) (5/2 -108%)Harry Lowes |
5/2(-108%) | (2) Harry Lowes 5/2, Keen and short of room when closing, he flattened out and ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Windsor last time. In good form prior, effective over 2m1f-2m5f and acts on GS, he could be nicely treated on these terms. Badly interfered with when favourite for a Class 3 handicap at Windsor last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/15 +61%)Count Of Vendome |
8/15(+61%) | (1) Count Of Vendome 8/15, Improved for his debut experience when winning a maiden hurdle at Doncaster by 13l last time. May have won here on debut prior to that but for jumping errors. Effective around 2m and acts on S and G, he is progressing and could defy a penalty. Won two bumpers and easily off the mark over hurdles last time at Doncaster. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/2 -22%)The Hawkstonian |
11/2(-22%) | (3) The Hawkstonian 11/2, Improved when benefitting from a stiff test down in trip to win a novice hurdle at Ffos Las by 3/4l last time. Effective over 2m-2m4f on S and G, he is the type to do better now handicapping but remains a threat at this level if getting a decent test. Improved plenty for the fitting of a tongue-tie when a willing winner at Ffos Las (heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (66/1 -65%)Ayyadieh |
66/1(-65%) | (4) Ayyadieh 66/1, Outpaced and improved from his debut but looked in need of further when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Leicester last time. Effective at 2m and acts on S, he may want further than 2m in time. Has quite a bit to find on the figures and looks the stable second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (150/1 -127%)Good Boy Griff |
150/1(-127%) | (5) Good Boy Griff 150/1, Had too much to do on a modest debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Southwell last time. Acts on S and should improve for a stiffer track, but needs to. Struggled in bumpers and same story when 28-1 for recent hurdle debut at Southwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The Hawkstonian dug deep to gain a breakthrough victory at Ffos Las and he's still open to improvement. However, COUNT OF VENDOME created a fine impression when romping home at Doncaster and may possess too much speed for Ben Pauling's charge. Harry Lowes has proved a little underwhelming since scoring at Exeter in November, but a return to this sort of distance may help.

Dan Skelton's HARRY LOWES can be excused his defeat in a good Windsor handicap last time, for which he went off favourite.

1st (4) (9/4 -38%)Twistthenightaway |
9/4(-38%) | (4) Twistthenightaway 9/4, Did it cosily when improving for the step up in trip, landing a handicap by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Newcastle last time. Effective at 2-2 1/2m and progressive, with a bit more to come over staying distances. Game winner off 4lb lower at Newcastle and can improve for this longer distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 +55%)Classic Concorde |
9/2(+55%) | (2) Classic Concorde 9/2, Continued in poor form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time. Returns from a short break and has been effective up to 3m, but arrives out of form and with something to prove. On a losing run but ran well enough for a long way in Class 2 handicap at Chepstow latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (8/1 +20%)Manowest |
8/1(+20%) | (3) Manowest 8/1, Travelled well but did not find as much as looked likely, though still ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time. Effective at 3m and was in form when last seen. Maiden winner; able off this sort of mark but may need good ground to show his form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/8 +0%)Mask Of Zorro |
13/8(+0%) | (1) Mask Of Zorro 13/8, Improved again when stepped up in trip and suited by a positive ride, landing a handicap by a length off a 6lb lower mark at Doncaster last time. Effective from 2m5f to 3m and progressive, with rise in the weights offset by jockey's claim. Has won all the handicaps he's contested, from 2m1f to 3m on all sorts of ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (13/2 +68%)Galassian |
13/2(+68%) | (5) Galassian 13/2, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time and now wears cheekpieces for the first time, with the trainer in form. Did not take to chasing and needs more to defy this mark back over hurdles. He's struggled back over hurdles following a break and wind surgery. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having continued on his upward trajectory when completing a four-timer at Doncaster, MASK OF ZORRO is difficult to oppose. Rian Corcoran negates a 6lb rise in the ratings with his 7lb claim and further glory may be imminent. Twistthenightaway made a winning handicap debut at Newcastle and is the obvious danger, although an improved performance from the down-in-class Classic Concorde wouldn't come as a surprise.

With the in-form Rian Corcoran claiming 7lb, MASK OF ZORRO is handicapped to continue his hot streak.

1st (3) (7/2 -40%)Titan Discovery |
7/2(-40%) | (3) Titan Discovery 7/2, Pulled up in the Heroes Handicap Hurdle at Sandown on his latest start. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good. In form but possibly now on a stiff mark. Looks the main danger to the favourite on form but this looks sharp enough test on chase debut. Chasing debutant who stays 3m and looks vulnerable against Mirabad at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1/4 +25%)Mirabad |
1/4(+25%) | (1) Mirabad 1/4, Improved under an aggressive ride at a sharp track but set it up for a strong stayer when second, beaten 10l, in the Kingmaker Novices' Chase (Grade 2) at Warwick latest. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good. In fine form for his new yard. Should have too much class and speed for his rivals. This looks a good opportunity after chasing home Steel Ally in the Grade 2 Kingmaker. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/1 +43%)Leading Choice |
16/1(+43%) | (2) Leading Choice 16/1, Never competitive after a series of errors but produced a solid effort out of grade when returning from a lay-off on handicap debut, finishing 27l third in a novice chase at Newbury on his most recent run. Effective from 2m to 2m3f and should improve for that outing when upped in trip. As when tailed off at Newbury last week, these terms aren't favourable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MIRABAD was not disgraced when filling second place behind a high-class prospect in the Kingmaker at Warwick earlier in the month and, with his sights now lowered, the seven-year-old is expected to go one better. Titan Discovery won a competitive handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in December and is likely to be the biggest threat to the selection because Leading Choice has plenty to find on official ratings.

It's very difficult to see beyond MIRABAD who ran as well as he was entitled to behind Steel Ally in the recent Grade 2 Kingmaker.

(1) (7/2 -27%)Jacks Parrot |
7/2(-27%) | (1) Jacks Parrot 7/2, Ran to form when just out-battled late by a well handicapped rival, beaten 1l off this mark at Ludlow last time. Previous placed effort has been boosted. Blinkers are fitted first time; effective at 3m and suited by cut. In form and well treated off an unchanged mark, with a big chance. Running well at present and stays this far, which ticks a big box. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (4/1 +27%)Planned Paradise |
4/1(+27%) | (11) Planned Paradise 4/1, Outpaced and wanting an even stiffer test when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Windsor last time. Ideally wants marathon distances. Consistent and on a fair mark. This test could be ideal and he holds strong claims. Not firing on all cylinders this season but too well handicapped to ignore. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (6/1 +40%)Astronomic View |
6/1(+40%) | (8) Astronomic View 6/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l off this mark at Chepstow last time. That run has been boosted. Effective from 2m4f to 3m6f with cut and on a fair mark based on his hurdles efforts. Back in form. 0-7 over fences but has been running well; possible stamina limitations over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/1 +29%)De Legislator |
6/1(+29%) | (3) De Legislator 6/1, Did plenty early and finished down the field in a handicap chase at Windsor most recently. Effective from 3m to 4m and acts with cut, but his current mark demands more. Windsor last time was disappointing but not all horses take to that track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (8/1 +0%)Betterforeveryone |
8/1(+0%) | (5) Betterforeveryone 8/1, Had every chance but was below form on ground softer than ideal when fourth, beaten 16l, in a handicap chase at Uttoxeter latest. Off a short break; effective from 3m to 4m, acts on soft but best on good. In good form until that run and likes the track but recent rain is a worry. Below par latest but has the form and attributes to feature in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (11/1 +61%)Bali Body |
11/1(+61%) | (10) Bali Body 11/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Chepstow latest. Tongue-tie fitted first time; effective up to 3m2f and acts on soft and good. Must bounce back and prove ability remains after lay off. Well handicapped on old form but has pulled up the last twice on the back of long absences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (12/1 -20%)Gold Emery |
12/1(-20%) | (9) Gold Emery 12/1, Ran to form, benefitting from an easy lead when beaten 3l off a 1lb lower mark at Catterick last time. Effective up to 3m2f and acts on heavy and good to soft. Generally consistent but a frustrating maiden over fences. 0-14 in this discipline and came up short in a veterans' chase a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (12/1 -60%)Breeze Of Wind |
12/1(-60%) | (6) Breeze Of Wind 12/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off an 8lb lower mark at Kelso last time. Off a short break; effective at 3m+ and suited by plenty of cut. In form, but this mark demands more. 2lb higher than when second over 4m at Kelso, which was just about a career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (14/1 -27%)Pimlico Point |
14/1(-27%) | (2) Pimlico Point 14/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Wincanton latest. Effective around 3m and ideally wants easy ground, but he is inconsistent. Had a complete off-day at Wincanton last month and blinkers now replace cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (16/1 +0%)Lagonda |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Lagonda 16/1, Returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when 12l third in a handicap chase at Hereford on her most recent run. Off a short break; effective at 3m and acts on soft and good to soft. Just 2lb above her last winning mark and could build on that, though unlikely to get her own way in front. Consistent but perhaps doesn't win as often as she should. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (25/1 -127%)Bodhisattva |
25/1(-127%) | (4) Bodhisattva 25/1, Appreciated better ground when 14l third in a handicap chase at Musselburgh on his most recent run. Effective from 3m to 4m and needs decent ground. It is nearly three years since his last win and conditions a concern. Has been beaten 16l and 14l in two handicaps at about 4m the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JACKS PARROT has improved with each run this season and he was only denied by a length at Ludlow a week ago. The first-time application of blinkers, as well as this step up in trip, should help the seven-year-old and he gets the vote ahead of Breeze Of Wind, who was second in the Borders National at Kelso and remains on a workable mark. Astronomic View and Gold Emery are others to note.

9yo BREEZE OF WIND (nap) is a thorough stayer who loves slow ground and ran as well as he ever has when runner-up at Kelso last time.

(7) (7/2 +65%)Daring Plan |
7/2(+65%) | (7) Daring Plan 7/2, Outpaced and below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Taunton last time; effective at 2 1/2m; in moderate form. Still a maiden and hasn't offered all that much in three runs following a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (7/2 +50%)Carrigmoorna Rowan |
7/2(+50%) | (2) Carrigmoorna Rowan 7/2, Did plenty early on ground more testing than ideal and set it up for closers when fourth, beaten 28l, in a handicap chase at Wincanton last time; effective at 2 1/2m and best on good to soft; unreliable. Bled last time and it has been a positive start for his current yard; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (4/1 +50%)Catboy |
4/1(+50%) | (8) Catboy 4/1, Taken on up front and set it up for closers when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f; out of form. Hasn't got a lot going in his previous chases but well handicapped on some hurdle form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (9/2 -100%)Copper Cove |
9/2(-100%) | (4) Copper Cove 9/2, Fell in a handicap chase at Hereford last time when set for a place; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on heavy and good to soft; well treated on old efforts and back in form. Returned to fences at Hereford two weeks ago and looked booked for second when falling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (5/1 +0%)Jaitroplaclasse |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Jaitroplaclasse 5/1, Had every chance and ran to form when fourth, beaten 17l, in a handicap chase at Taunton last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on any ground; in good form but this mark demands a touch more. Good third at Ludlow before getting stuck in the mud (heavy) at Taunton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (14/1 +13%)Port Or Starboard |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Port Or Starboard 14/1, Didn't stay the longer trip when fourth, beaten 17l, in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; needs more and does not look quite the force of old. Nowhere near his best over hurdles this season and not bred for fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (14/1 -300%)Jiair Madrik |
14/1(-300%) | (1) Jiair Madrik 14/1, Best effort yet for the new yard under a positive ride when second, beaten 6l, in a handicap chase at Catterick last time; effective at 2m and acts on any ground; a winner in France and could build on that latest run. His third run back from a mammoth absence when chasing home an improver at Catterick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 -14%)Just Aidan |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Just Aidan 16/1, Unseated in a handicap chase at Taunton last time; effective at 2m and acts with cut; on a fair mark based on his best hurdles form but must bounce back. Twice uncompetitive in handicap hurdles before departing mid-race on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Copper Cove's chance certainly hadn't gone when he fell at the last over 2m5f at Hereford earlier in the month and he remains of interest, but the vote goes to JIAIR MADRIK. The seven-year-old returned to form when chasing home an odds-on shot at Catterick on his latest outing and he could take advantage of an unchanged rating. Port Or Starboard is the pick of the remainder.

At the bottom of the weights is CATBOY who unseated when made favourite for his last run over fences and is well treated.

(3) (6/4 +77%)Bowenspark |
6/4(+77%) | (3) Bowenspark 6/4, Did not find much when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Haydock last time; trainer in form and off a short break. Effective at 2 1/2m and suited by soft and good ground; inconsistent. Inconsistent but a repeat of his second at Southwell in Dec would give him every chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (13/8 +28%)Casual Observer |
13/8(+28%) | (5) Casual Observer 13/8, Keen and well handicapped on novice form, improved when benefitting from his reappearance and well backed when landing a handicap by 3l off a 6lb lower mark at Ffos Las last time. Returning from a long layoff; progressive and opening chase mark lenient so looks a leading player. Open to improvement as a chaser and fitness might not be an issue given yard he represents. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (5/1 +23%)Ostend |
5/1(+23%) | (2) Ostend 5/1, Returned to form down in trip under a positive ride after a wind op when beaten 18l into third in a handicap chase at Southwell most recent run; second run after wind op. Effective at 2 1/2m, acts on heavy and good; inconsistent but well treated on best form and likes the track so dangerous if allowed to dictate. Chase winner last March; two lesser runs have come on either side of wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (6/1 +29%)Galop De Chasse |
6/1(+29%) | (1) Galop De Chasse 6/1, Outpaced and needing the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Chepstow last time; off a short break. Best around 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground; a bounce back is needed. On a useful mark and his yard is in better form now than when he ran at Christmas. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Casual Observer is an interesting contender on his chasing bow after winning over the smaller obstacles at Ffos Las last year, but the long absence is a slight concern. With that in mind, OSTEND gets the nod. Alastair Ralph's eight-year-old failed in his attempt to make all when third at Southwell, but has been dropped 3lb for that effort and that might prove to be kind. Bowenspark completes the shortlist.

A tight race but CASUAL OBSERVER has the potential to be well handicapped on his chase debut. Bowenspark is next best.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
