The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A War Eagle finished a narrow second on handicap bow at Hamilton last month and he is respected from 2lb higher. Stall 12 is far from ideal, though, and with that in mind, preference is for COMMANDER OF LIFE. Jessica Macey's gelding has steadily been coming to the boil in recent starts, posting a creditable second at Chester latest. This stiff finish could eke out a little extra and, if doing so, he should go close. Park Street was a beaten favourite at Redcar on Saturday but he won this from 5lb higher in 2023.

If he can cope with the wide draw then the 3yo A WAR EAGLE may be the answer as he bumped into a sharp improver on handicap debut.

Karl Burke and Clifford Lee teamed up to land the Albany at Royal Ascot on Friday and further success may await the pair courtesy of HOPE QUEEN. The Night Of Thunder filly, who fetched 135,000gns as a yearling, has a mixture of speed and stamina in her pedigree. She might not need to be anything out of the ordinary to make a successful debut, although Lingfield runner-up Private Project should give her plenty to think about. Conjecture represents lofty connections and she warrants a market check.

The market will naturally be informative but HOPE QUEEN edges preference over Conjecture.

13/8(+46%) | (1) Dr Rio 13/8, Did not get a clear run beaten a length off 60 over 1m here last time; goes well here; up in trip; 1lb below last winning mark; leading player Close up here last month after starting slowly and this longer trip is a better fit. |

18/1(+10%) | (7) Jamih 18/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap here most recent; struggled to get involved since completing a double in August; risky A 10yo now and he trailed home last here a month ago after 225 days away. |

20/1(-82%) | (9) Forest Haze 20/1, Ran to form beaten 6l in a handicap at Leicester last time; still finding level, unplaced in opening ten starts; may improve in first time cheekpieces Ten defeats include three for her current yard and overall profile is none too compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (4/1 +60%)Arch Legend |
4/1(+60%) | (5) Arch Legend 4/1, Made too much use of down the field in a handicap at Hamilton most recent; may not relish fast ground; decent effort in penultimate start over CD; more needed Runner-up over C&D last month but poor runs on either side of that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

There were encouraging signs from Edvard Grieg, who was able to hit the frame in a classified event at Brighton latest and a maiden triumph might not be far away now. However, preference is for DR RIO. The four-time course winner (one over C&D) kept on well into fourth over the extended mile here last month, but he is expected to build on that back at this longer trip. Arch Legend struggled at Hamilton recently but returning to this venue could aid his cause.

He's a 9yo now but DR RIO could run around here with his eyes shut and he did well to go close over an inadequate trip last time.

1st (1) (2/1 +20%)Gincident |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Gincident 2/1, Appeared to improve again second beaten 3l off 77 last time; effective 7-10f, acts on GS and GF, progressive; should go close All good since joining James Owen and found only one superior in a big field at York. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (15/2 +17%)Individualism |
15/2(+17%) | (3) Individualism 15/2, Second start after a wind operation, seemed not to stay well beaten in a handicap over 12f at Hamilton latest; drop in trip a positive, but breathing may still be an issue All gone pear-shaped since winning over 1m3f at Carlisle last July when only 1lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (17/2 -70%)Spioradalta |
17/2(-70%) | (6) Spioradalta 17/2, Scored by a neck off 68 at Ripon penultimate start and ran about to same form when beaten 6l off 72 last time; clearly going well and in the mix Good run at York but doubts as to whether he can reverse placings with runner-up Gincident. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (28/1 -211%)Squeezebox |
28/1(-211%) | (5) Squeezebox 28/1, Raced freely beaten 5l in a handicap over 12f at Leicester last time running about to form; down in trip (won over 10f in 2023); mark looks a little on stiff side Can pull hard; if he did get a good pace to chase back in trip then he'd have a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (16/1 -33%)Princess Niyla |
16/1(-33%) | (8) Princess Niyla 16/1, Scored by 1/2l off 65 here penultimate start; well beaten up in class off a revised mark of 68 last time; needs to bounce back, but had been consistent prior to latest start Has plenty of ground to make up with some of these on York form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/1 +0%)Flickering Halo |
9/1(+0%) | (4) Flickering Halo 9/1, Yard has won 2 of last 9 runnings of race; bit below best, probably made a fraction too much use of fourth beaten 4l off 75 last time; effective 10-16f, seems best on sound surface, consistent Both wins over 1m2f but stays the 1m4f over which he had no excuses at Leicester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (3/1 +63%)Shimmering Sands |
3/1(+63%) | (7) Shimmering Sands 3/1, Below form again beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap at York last time; form has been going the wrong way and a bit to prove though mark is falling He's not won in two years and was behind some of these at York where he raced freely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (13/2 -86%)Papagei |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Papagei 13/2, Back to form beaten 3/4l off 79 over 12f at Lingfield last time; trainer in form; down in trip; stays at least 12f, acts on GS and GF, generally consistent, but this perhaps on sharp side Should go well, for all that he'd probably prefer going a bit further than this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GINCIDENT has been in consistent form this season and he looks the one to beat on the back of a highly creditable second at York last time out. The 3lb rise looks manageable for James Owen's charge, and he is preferred to Papagei, who should be suited by dropping in trip, having shown up well for a long way before eventually finishing third over further at Lingfield last month. Spioradalta (sixth) doesn't have much to find with the selection from that York contest and also has strong claims based on his penultimate success at Ripon.

Gincident is greatly feared but it could be worth risking PAPAGEI who is likely to be given a positive ride at this trip.

33/1(-175%) | (1) Kurios George 33/1, Comfortably held in a maiden at Leicester last time; poor debut prior; plenty more needed Beaten 22l and 12l in maidens at Doncaster and Leicester; probably one for handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Fancied on debut at Nottingham earlier in the month, FOREVER PENYWERN appeared to be getting the hang of things late in the piece and, with normal improvement expected, he can strike for connections that do extremely well here. A creditable fourth on the back of being gelded at Lingfield most recently, Special Ghaiyyath must be thereabouts again, despite being winless in seven starts. Proud Power looks to be the pick of the newcomers.

Special Ghaiyyath should be involved once more but it's not hard to prefer FOREVER PENYWERN after his pleasing debut.

14/1(+13%) | (5) Eye On The Prize 14/1, Badly hampered early, ran no race after and eased down the field in a handicap over 8f at Ripon most recent; generally out of form; top course trainer; up in trip; unproven on fast ground; needs to improve Only five ran when third at Catterick two runs back and then tailed off at Ripon (1m). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having only been collared in the dying strides at Wetherby earlier this month, this looks a suitable opportunity for QUIRKE ON PAROLE to gain some compensation. A 1lb nudge up in the ratings is workable for Mark Walford's filly and a first career victory may beckon. West Wickham hails from a yard in good order at present and, dropping back in distance, an improved bid wouldn't surprise. The Mastercraftsman gelding is feared most, ahead of Nippasso.

This looks very winnable and QUIRKE ON PAROLE has the least to prove of these having run well in both his handicaps at this trip.

7/2(-17%) | (2) Art Of Fox 7/2, Still keen, but realised potential sitting close to fast pace scored by 2 1/4l off 53 at Chelmsford penultimate start; ran to form second beaten 1 1/2l off 59 last time; more suited by 5f, contender Ran well under a penalty at Ripon and off a lower mark here with an 8lb claimer up top. |

5/2(+25%) | (1) Solar Biricz 5/2, Plenty to do and won going away landing a handicap by 1/2l off 58 at Doncaster last time; should get 6f; rise in the weights may not be enough to stop following up Didn't have a lot up his sleeve at Doncaster and carries the 6lb penalty. |

20/1(-150%) | (3) Tanjen 20/1, Similar form to previous starts beaten 7 1/2l in a maiden over 6f at Catterick last time; top course trainer; back in trip; unproven on fast ground; tricky to assess accurately based on out of the frame maiden/novice runs; shortlisted Some positives to take from her three runs at 6f and 5f could suit on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +10%)Sanbona |
9/2(+10%) | (6) Sanbona 9/2, Close to form made plenty of use of beaten 1 1/2l off 49 over 6f at Redcar last time; back in trip; first start over 5f, conditions suit; can make presence felt in tight contest 0-11 but has been running well over 6f and he looks sharp enough for 5f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Solar Biricz bounced back to form to land the spoils at Doncaster recently and another bold bid is forecast. However, a 6lb penalty does demand more from the son of Mehmas and ART OF FOX edges the vote. Richard Hannon's charge supplemented an all-weather triumph with a good second at Ripon six days ago and a 1lb higher mark could prove lenient. Sanbona may fare best of the remainder.
