In good form in handicaps this season; major player now back down in trip. |

28/1(-155%) | (5) Matching Energy 28/1, Fell in a novice hurdle here last time when tiring; point and bumper winner; returns from a short break; effective at 2m and can do better under a more reserved ride. 2-2 prior to promising run on C&D hurdle debut (final-flight faller); could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (250/1 -25%)Khaleesi Queen |
250/1(-25%) | (8) Khaleesi Queen 250/1, Never threatened when down the field in a bumper at Newcastle most recent; major improvement needed now switching to hurdles. Useful pedigree but tailed off at big odds in both bumpers; a transformation is necessary. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JOHNNY'S JURY was bought for 75,000 pounds to join Jamie Snowden following a third in a Ffos Las bumper and it looked money well spent when he comfortably accounted for three subsequent winners on his hurdling debut at Exeter. That impressive display earned him a couple of Cheltenham entries and another big performance here could book his Festival ticket. Kilnesare Flight also made a successful beginning to his timber career and can pick up any pieces should the selection misfire, although Knomorediamonds can't be ruled out with confidence.

Having impressed at Exeter last month, JOHNNY'S JURY is taken to make it 2-2 for Jamie Snowden. Kilnesare Flight is a danger.

1st (7) (9/2 +72%)Hello Judge |

Something to prove regarding current form but 5-10 at Carlisle; not ruled out back here. |

Respectable fourth last month when back chasing; has run well on both previous visits here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/2 +35%)Here Comes Georgie |
13/2(+35%) | (2) Here Comes Georgie 13/2, Keen and found little after a bad error when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Ascot last time. Off a short break, effective at 2m and suited by good ground, and a drop back in trip may suit but conditions a worry. Went close at Doncaster in November and he was in a hot race when tailed off last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (9/2 +59%)Willie Shake Hands |
9/2(+59%) | (9) Willie Shake Hands 9/2, Outpaced and below form when up in class and comfortably held in a handicap chase at Haydock last time. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; generally consistent until his latest run. Close third at Doncaster in December but soundly beaten when upped to this grade last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (13/2 -18%)Karafon |
13/2(-18%) | (6) Karafon 13/2, Below form and comfortably held when up in class in a novice chase at Down Royal last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (4/1 -33%)Grain D'oudairies |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Grain D'oudairies 4/1, Scored by 1 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark at Haydock on his penultimate start. Effective at 2m and just about gets a sharp 2 1/2m, acts on good ground and is in career-best form, though his revised mark demands more. 8l second to progressive winner at Doncaster last time and he's one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (13/2 +0%)Soft Risk |
13/2(+0%) | (5) Soft Risk 13/2, Landed a handicap by 4l off a 2lb lower mark at Ayr last time and was absent for a very lengthy period before that. Effective at 2m and acts with cut; progressive when last seen, lightly raced and from a good yard despite issues. Has won fresh and mark looks generous. Defied 628-day layoff for chase debut win at Ayr in 2023; back from 789 days off this time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

GRAIN D'OUDAIRIES won two of his first three starts this campaign but then had the misfortune to bump into a rapidly-improving novice at Doncaster. He still beat the rest fair and square so a 1lb drop might be a bit hasty and he can take full advantage. Karafon's only previous handicap outing in this sphere saw him split a couple of subsequent winners at Ayr and he must be feared. Here Comes Georgie was ahead of the selection when runner-up on Town Moor in November, while Soft Risk has obviously had his issues but it's interesting that connections persevere with him.

Nicky Richards has shown with Milcree this winter that an absence isn't a barrier to success with his stable, and SOFT RISK gets the nod

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (9/2 +44%)Johnny Moonshine |
9/2(+44%) | (6) Johnny Moonshine 9/2, Yard won this last year; outpaced but finished well on a promising debut when fourth, beaten 7 1/4l, in a maiden hurdle at Ayr latest; effective at 2m and acts on soft. Debut form franked and a likely improver now upped in distance. Kept on for 4th over 2m at Ayr on hurdle debut and the step up in trip looks a good move. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (8/1 -7%)The Dog Thief |
8/1(-7%) | (9) The Dog Thief 8/1, Promising 5l winner of a Maiden Point at Alnwick on debut; trainer in form and off a short break. The form of that point win looks modest and the market can guide. Won by 5l on debut in British maiden point; could give a good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (33/1 -230%)Forever Louie |
33/1(-230%) | (3) Forever Louie 33/1, Improved from debut when second, beaten 4l, in a bumper at Musselburgh latest; off a short break; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft. Showed promise in bumpers and the longer trip should suit on hurdle debut. Runner-up in Musselburgh bumper and open to improvement now up in trip on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

40/1(-21%) | (11) Rosa Diaz 40/1, Not given a hard time when fourth, beaten 41l, in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield latest; effective at 2m5f and may improve for 3m in time. Point winner who made fairly encouraging hurdle debut before a lesser run last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (40/1 +20%)Passing Diamond |
40/1(+20%) | (7) Passing Diamond 40/1, Outpaced on a modest debut and needed the run when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Hereford last time; off a short break. Irish bumper form has been franked and he could build on that effort but needs to. Two-time Irish point winner but tailed off on hurdle debut at Hereford in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (66/1 -100%)Swingingonthesteel |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Swingingonthesteel 66/1, Below form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Sedgefield latest, up in class and trip; effective at 2m and acts on good to soft and good. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (80/1 +20%)Wherearethejudges |
80/1(+20%) | (10) Wherearethejudges 80/1, Outpaced and never threatened when failing to build on his debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Ayr latest; effective over 2 1/2m. A return to this track is a plus but more is needed. Signs of ability but will be of greater interest when qualified for handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

200/1(-100%) | (2) Eagle's Cairn 200/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Newcastle latest; effective over 2m2 1/2f and likely one for handicaps. Has shown some ability but not enough to suggest he'll make an impact today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (250/1 -67%)Cool Master |
250/1(-67%) | (1) Cool Master 250/1, Outpaced and a poor effort when down the field in a novice hurdle at Catterick most recently; has plenty to prove. Triple-figure odds when tailed off over hurdles on his first two starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Having ended his time in France with a close-up second, HE'S ON FIRE may be too strong on this British/stable bow. Willie Mullins' gelding has been given an official rating of 120 and others will need to improve to reach a similar level. Tom Ellis has his string in fine fettle and point-to-point winner The Dog Thief is feared most on Rules debut, ahead of Johnny Moonshine, who is a potential improver stepping up in distance.

Willie Mullins has sent just one runner to Carlisle today and HE'S ON FIRE can make a winning start for his new connections.

Off a short break, effective over 2 1/2-3m and acts with cut; more to come over fences and may get a bit further. Looks on a good mark on hurdle form and should go close. Promising second on chase debut at Haydock and could build on that now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (4/1 -33%)Saint Davy |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Saint Davy 4/1, Back to form when dropped in trip and class, just tiring late when beaten 4 1/2l into third in a handicap chase at Windsor on his most recent run. Effective over 2 1/2-3m, acts on soft and good to soft, and should come on for that latest outing. Ran well in third on last month's reappearance at Windsor and he's entitled to respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (4/1 +43%)President Scottie |
4/1(+43%) | (6) President Scottie 4/1, Had every chance but was below form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Effective over 2 1/2-3m and acts on soft, though below par this term. There's a suspicion he's regressive but he's not discounted in view of a dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (5/1 -100%)Upfordebate |
5/1(-100%) | (7) Upfordebate 5/1, Did it easily and improved again when landing a handicap by 12l off a 9lb lower mark at Sedgefield last time. Trainer in form and off a short break; suited by 3m+ and acts on soft and good, progressive and could complete a hat-trick. Made it 4 wins from last 5 starts when scoring easily at Sedgefield in December; up 9l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/2 +50%)Sound And Fury |
11/2(+50%) | (4) Sound And Fury 11/2, Never travelled or jumped and finished a long way below form when well beaten in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. Tailed off at Market Rasen last time but won here in November and he's not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/2 +0%)Westerninthepark |
11/2(+0%) | (2) Westerninthepark 11/2, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Windsor last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and below his best this term, but the handicapper is relenting which gives him a chance if able to bounce back. Promising fourth on reappearance here in November but two lesser performances since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 +11%)Hudson De Grugy |
16/1(+11%) | (5) Hudson De Grugy 16/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark at Wetherby on his penultimate start, but made mistakes and did not stay when 14th, beaten 43l off 120, last time. On the same mark here, effective over 2m4f-3m3f, suited by cut, unreliable but capable. Ran well for long way over 3m4f at Windsor last time; could go well now back down in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Upfordebate has won four of his last five outings and cannot be dismissed given the rate at which he is progressing. However, a 9lb hike for his most recent Sedgefield triumph coupled with a rise in class will demand more of the seven-year-old. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a chance on PRESIDENT SCOTTIE, who didn't appear to stay an extended 4m in the Borders National before running with credit over hurdles at Ayr. Ayiko and Saint Davy are other feasible alternatives.

3m handicap hurdle winner AYIKO goes back up in trip for his second chase start and earns the vote ahead of Hudson De Grugy.

Stays 2 1/2m and acts on heavy and good to soft; could complete a hat trick. Made it 2-2 over hurdles for new yard when winning over 2m4f latest; no hood this time. |

10/1(+0%) | (2) Tech That 10/1, Had every chance and ran to form, just tiring late on up in trip when fourth beaten 17l in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter latest. 50/1(+0%) | (11) Gold Ring 50/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby most recent. Off a short break and regressive in both codes; hard to fancy. Two Flat wins but has shown very little in that code or over hurdles since spring 2024. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (80/1 -100%)Do Ye Wanna |
80/1(-100%) | (9) Do Ye Wanna 80/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Hexham latest and is returning from a long layoff. Usually held up; has it all to prove in handicaps. Little to show for efforts in bumpers/over hurdles; this will be more his level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Recent Southwell winner Parish Star is sure to prove popular in her quest to complete a hat-trick and an 8lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. However, the six-year-old is likely to be priced accordingly and it could be worth taking a chance on handicap debutant FINE AS WINE. Gary Hanmer has done well with the runners he's sent here over the years and an opening mark of 84 might prove lenient. Scairp Dubh is the pick of the remainder.

This may lie between Scairp Dubh and PARISH STAR, with the latter taken to make it 3-3 in handicap hurdles for her new yard.

An 11lb hike from the assessor was enough to thwart Soldier's Leap's hat-trick bid at Newbury, but he's not easily dismissed in what looks a slightly weaker contest. Even so, HE'S BRESILIAN may be slightly better treated following his second-placed effort at Ayr, as a 2lb rise in the handicap looks workable. Vampire Slayer has proved a different proposition since being fitted with a visor and completes the shortlist.

The progressive SOLDIER'S LEAP is taken to win his third handicap of the season with He's Bresilian his main danger.

Effective at 2-2 1/2m on soft, progressing and may remain well treated judged on hurdle form, and needs this drop back in trip. 2m3f win at Wetherby then travelled well when third over 3m1f at Catterick; lots to like. |

(6) (7/2 +0%)Largy Train |
7/2(+0%) | (6) Largy Train 7/2, Jumped right and was game, running to form when benefitting from a positive ride down in trip to land a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark at Sedgefield last time. Enjoys making it, effective around 2 1/2m and consistent. Course winner who got back on the scoresheet at Sedgefield latest; on the shortlist up 4lb. |

4/1(+43%) | (9) Hawkseye View 4/1, Taken on up front and set it up for a closer when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Market Rasen last time. In good form prior to that, off a short break, effective from 2 1/2-3m on good, and the mark looks fair. Made it 0-18 when below par at Market Rasen last time but he was in good heart previously. |

(4) (11/2 +66%)Canunclecani |
11/2(+66%) | (4) Canunclecani 11/2, Up in trip and may not have stayed when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Ayr most recently. Effective from 2m1f-3m and acts on soft, having been generally consistent until that latest effort. Fair mark on best hurdle form which came here so interesting at a price on chase debut. Tailed off on handicap hurdle debut but this point runner-up could be suited by chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (10/1 -150%)Trac |
10/1(-150%) | (1) Trac 10/1, Back to form when tried in blinkers, landing a handicap by 3l off a 5lb lower mark at Newcastle last time. Off a short break, effective from 2m-2m4f and acts on any surface, but needs to show the headgear works as well again. Won at Newcastle in December and this course winner remains on a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (20/1 -100%)Sean Og |
20/1(-100%) | (3) Sean Og 20/1, Got racing too early and finished tired when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Hexham last time. Returning from a break, effective from 2m5f-3m, a Cartmel specialist and generally consistent performer. Below par at Hexham in October but a break may have helped and he can go well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (28/1 -75%)Cuzco Du Mathan |
28/1(-75%) | (2) Cuzco Du Mathan 28/1, May have found the ground too fast on a quick return when well beaten in a handicap chase at Cartmel latest. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (250/1 -67%)Baptism Of Fire |
250/1(-67%) | (5) Baptism Of Fire 250/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Catterick latest. Usually held up, effective from 2 1/2-3m, but inconsistent and needs to prove his ability remains after a lay-off. Very useful for Henry de Bromhead in his prime but pulled up on all four runs last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Despite jumping right at times, LARGY TRAIN set perfect fractions to make all of the running at Sedgefield. Charlie Maggs negates a 4lb rise in the handicap with his 5lb claim so this course and distance winner ticks plenty of the right boxes. The biggest threat may be Trac, who travelled with more verve in first-time blinkers when victorious at Newcastle, while Wolfburg is expected to relish a drop in trip.

The drop back in trip should be ideal for WOLFBURG (nap), who was outstayed over 3m1f at Catterick. Canunclecani is next best.

(8) (11/2 0%)It's Maisy |
11/2(0%) | (8) It's Maisy 11/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 4 1/4l, in a handicap hurdle at Newcastle last time; effective over 2m4f-3m and suited by plenty of cut; generally consistent at this level. Ran okay over 2m4f at Newcastle and she's won at up to 3m1f; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (6/1 +33%)Smile Back |
6/1(+33%) | (4) Smile Back 6/1, Had every chance but was possibly outstayed up in trip when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Taunton last time; had been in good form prior; effective over 2m4f; mare with a bit more to offer. 17/2(+15%) | (3) Vroomoz Eile 17/2, Had every chance and ran to form before just tiring late when beaten 8 1/2l in third in a handicap hurdle at Haydock last time; off a short break; effective over 2 1/2-3m; good mark based on win here; should come on for that latest run. Course novice winner who was third at Haydock in December and could build on that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (9/1 -157%)Maura Jeanne |
9/1(-157%) | (7) Maura Jeanne 9/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Ayr last time; usually held up; effective over 3m; consistent performer but this mark demands more. Runner-up on two of her last three outings and could be thereabouts once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (10/1 -67%)Lizzie Luna |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Lizzie Luna 10/1, Keen and made too much use of when fourth, beaten 10l, in a handicap hurdle at Musselburgh last time; effective over 2m4f-3m; back in form and capable if settling better. Went very close at Musselburgh in December; only fourth there since but not ruled out. |

(2) (11/1 +31%)Hellfire Princess |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (33/1 -408%)Zhanma Enki |
33/1(-408%) | (6) Zhanma Enki 33/1, Outpaced and looked in need of a stiffer test when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Ayr last time; trainer in form and tongue-tie applied for the first time; effective at 2m but mark demands improvement. Half-sister to classy stayer Yala Enki who could relish the step up in trip on h'cap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It's Maisy has been expensive to follow this season and, although she continues to edge down the ratings, it might be best to look elsewhere. MAURA JEANNE found only a subsequent winner too strong at Ayr and compensation could be on the cards. Keppel Queen has the ability to figure if jumping with more fluency, while the refitting of a hood should be of benefit to Smile Back.

This could go to ZHANMA ENKI, a half-sister to the classy stayer Yala Enki who may well relish the step up in trip on handicap debut.
Ths is the racecard key.
