5/2(+9%) | (7) The Jukebox Kid 5/2, Ran to form when 13l third in a 2m4f novice hurdle at Ayr on latest start. Effective at 2m4f and acts on heavy and good to soft ground. Unexposed type. Impressed on Irish point debut in 2024 and still very unexposed under rules; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) (12/1 +76%)Grand Geste |
12/1(+76%) | (13) Grand Geste 12/1, Pulled up in a 3m handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time after a poor effort on heavy ground previously. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft and good to soft. Has a bit to prove now. 0-7 over hurdles; may improve over fences but faces a tough task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (15/2 +25%)First Confession |
15/2(+25%) | (2) First Confession 15/2, Pulled up in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) over 3m at Cheltenham last time. Previously solid in good maiden and novice hurdles. Effective at 2m4f and probably handles any ground. Irish point winner; 2-5 over hurdles last season; should have a future over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 +50%)Laganhill |
9/1(+50%) | (4) Laganhill 9/1, Improved when stepped up in trip and down in grade to finish 8 1/4l third in a novice hurdle over 2m4f at Cheltenham last time. Acts on soft and good ground and remains open to improvement. Promising novice hurdler last season (2-4); quickly switched to fences for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/1 +0%)Kilbarry Hill |
9/1(+0%) | (9) Kilbarry Hill 9/1, Well backed but just flattened out late when beaten 7l in a 3m3f handicap hurdle at Perth last time. Trainer in form. Usually held up, effective from 2m4f to 3m, and acts on soft and good ground. A contender. 3-11 over hurdles; not obviously well handicapped for chase debut but still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (10/1 -82%)Mr Hope Street |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Mr Hope Street 10/1, Made mistakes but ran to form when 5l third in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Cheltenham on latest outing. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and handles soft and good ground. A very consistent performer. Made very good progress over hurdles last season; player if he takes well to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (18/1 -13%)Benmore |
18/1(-13%) | (12) Benmore 18/1, Travelled well and took advantage of a good opportunity in first-time cheekpieces, winning a 2m maiden hurdle at Hexham by 2l last time. Suited by 2m4f and best form with ease in the ground. May have more to come. Came good in a modest maiden hurdle in March; faces much tougher task on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (40/1 -344%)Halpha Soleil |
40/1(-344%) | (11) Halpha Soleil 40/1, Keen early but showed a good attitude to rally, running to form up in grade when beaten 1 1/4l off 102 in a 2m4f novice chase at Hexham last time. Suited by 2m4f and best form with some cut in the ground. Game second at Hexham in May but 0-7 over fences now; others look stronger here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (5/1 +44%)Jupiter Des Mottes |
5/1(+44%) | (6) Jupiter Des Mottes 5/1, Made mistakes and still learning but improved up in trip, shaping as a thorough stayer despite being comfortably held in a Listed novices' hurdle over 3m at Perth last time. Effective at 2m4f and better at 3m, handles easier ground. Novice hurdle winner who remains very unexposed; makes chase/handicap debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (11/2 +0%)I Am Max |
11/2(+0%) | (8) I Am Max 11/2, Improved when switching to fences after a break, landing a 2m4f Hexham handicap by a head off 118 last time. Effective up to 3m and acts on good to soft and good ground. More to come as a chaser, now 3lb higher. Held on well for Hexham chase win last month; should have fitness edge over a few of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (22/1 +0%)Bowling Buddy |
22/1(+0%) | (5) Bowling Buddy 22/1, Pulled up in a 3m handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time when making a noise. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. First run since a wind operation. Progressive over hurdles last season and has an Irish point win on his CV; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (33/1 -267%)Ottizzini |
33/1(-267%) | (1) Ottizzini 33/1, Ran close to form when second, beaten 9l, in the Beeswing Mares' Hurdle (Listed) over 3m at Kelso last time. Suited by 3m and best form with give in the ground. A class act but carries plenty of weight. 3-16 over hurdles; won when fresh last season but others here have more potential. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having made a winning return to fences at Hexham last month, I Am Max could put his experience in this discipline to good use. A 3lb nudge up the ratings shouldn't prevent another bold display but there some interesting chasing debutants on show, with MR HOPE STREET topping the bill. The seven-year-old was progressive in handicap company last season and can improve further. The Jukebox Kid and Laganhill also require a second look.

Perhaps the most interesting runner is LAGANHILL, who looked very promising during his four-race novice hurdle campaign last season.

1st (11) (5/2 +29%)Tormund Giantsbane |
5/2(+29%) | (11) Tormund Giantsbane 5/2, Better than the result suggests when second, beaten a neck in a bumper over 2m at Warwick under a penalty last time. Returning from a long layoff but a potential threat on hurdle debut. Point/bumper winner; open to any amount of improvement now raised in distance over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/1 -20%)Intosomethinggood |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Intosomethinggood 6/1, Had too much to do when running in a 2m handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time but had been in good form before that. Probably best at around 2 1/2m and looks progressive. 3-6 over hurdles; disappointed last time; has to concede weight to unexposed opposition. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (5/1 +9%)Lost Frequencies |
5/1(+9%) | (8) Lost Frequencies 5/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 7 1/2l in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Kelso last time. Effective at 2m on soft or good ground, and the step up in trip should suit. Returns from 11 months off. Off since December but bumper form reads well and so too his seconds over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (33/1 -65%)Get On George |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Get On George 33/1, Made a promising debut when runner-up, beaten a nose in a bumper over 2m at Hexham on only start. Displayed a good attitude and should improve. It was an ordinary-looking four-finisher bumper in which he just missed out at Hexham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7/1 -27%)Burncourt Boy |
7/1(-27%) | (4) Burncourt Boy 7/1, Won a maiden point at Dromahane over 3m on yielding ground by 1 1/2l last time. Trainer in form and open to improvement on his Rules debut. Form of point win nothing special but he's joined a top outfit for £48,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (50/1 -400%)Jazz De Cotte |
50/1(-400%) | (2) Jazz De Cotte 50/1, Ran to form on stable debut, just tiring late when 19l third in a novice hurdle over 2m7f at Uttoxeter. Effective around 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good ground. A bumper and point winner in Ireland with a fair mark. Dual Irish winner; quiet stable debut in a novice and current mark looks flattering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (200/1 -100%)Mandarb |
200/1(-100%) | (12) Mandarb 200/1, Ran to form but was comfortably held in a 4yo hurdle over 2m at Wetherby last time. Wears a hood for the first time and returns from a layoff with plenty to do. Wouldn't be the obvious answer here, unless the new hood has a dramatic effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (300/1 -275%)Rightbackatyou |
300/1(-275%) | (9) Rightbackatyou 300/1, Made mistakes and flattened out late when comfortably held in a novice hurdle over 2m5f at Kelso last time after a break. Consistent in maidens from 2m to 2 1/2m but has a lot to find. Well beaten in 2m5f novice at Kelso last time won by recent Cheltenham winner Conman John. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (16/5 +47%)Knomorediamonds |
16/5(+47%) | (3) Knomorediamonds 16/5, Won a handicap hurdle at Hexham by 57l last time, going clear with ease after returning from a layoff, though opposition was weak. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on soft or good ground and could progress now that he has his head in front. Won a 2m4f handicap last time by 57l but the race disintegrated on the final circuit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (11/1 +45%)Caliach Point |
11/1(+45%) | (5) Caliach Point 11/1, Below form when fourth, beaten 28l in a maiden bumper over 2m at Ffos Las latest after showing more promise on debut. Tongue-tie applied for the first time and breathing appears to be a concern. Others in here achieved more in bumpers but this 5yo should make a better hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 +0%)Claim The Throne |
12/1(+0%) | (6) Claim The Throne 12/1, Improved when winning a bumper at Exeter over 2m1f on heavy ground by 1/2l last time, suited by conditions. Returning from a layoff and needs plenty more, but has shown progress so far. Posted good enough RPR in winning his bumper to suggest he could be useful over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 -344%)Suspected |
40/1(-344%) | (10) Suspected 40/1, Showed a good attitude when making a promising bumper debut, winning by a length over 2m at Uttoxeter on debut. Likely to improve on hurdle debut. 10-1 winner of a good-ground Uttoxeter bumper in May when strong up the straight. |

Intosomethinggood appeared to find 2m too sharp when finishing fifth at Chepstow last month and an improved showing is forecast over the extra half-mile. However, KNOMOREDIAMONDS came home in splendid isolation on his return to action in a Hexham handicap and, switching to novice company, there could be more to come. Market support for hurdling newcomer Tormund Giantsbane would be interesting, while Lost Frequencies is still open to improvement.

The 6yo LOST FREQUENCIES has been been off for 11 months but his form last season is quite compelling in the context of today's company.

Having tasted defeat only once in five outings over fences last season, TELEPATHIQUE ended her campaign with a Listed victory at Huntingdon. Lucy Wadham's charge got the better of subsequent Mares' Chase runner-up Brides Hill and she should take all the beating if returning in the same heart. Paggane arrives on the back of a close-up second over hurdles at Chepstow and is feared most, ahead of Apple Away.

Lucy Wadham won this last year with a seasonal debutante and TELEPATHIQUE's first season over fences could barely have gone better.

KAPAL LAYAR progressed throughout last season and ended the campaign with an impressive win in a handicap at Perth in April. That form has worked out well and the six-year-old may have enough improvement left to come to defy a 9lb rise on his return. Siog Geal won a valuable Grade 2 handicap at Newbury when last seen in March and is another to note. Personal Ambition and Florida Dreams complete the shortlist.

The call is FLORIDA DREAMS, a regular in handicaps of this stature and he should really have made a successful chase debut 22 days ago.

HANDSTANDS found significant improvement when switched to fences last season and put in a career best when beating subsequent Arkle winner Jango Baie in the Scilly Isles at Sandown in February. He was badly hampered when pulled up at Aintree on his sole subsequent start and Ben Pauling's gelding can make amends on his return. Resplendent Grey won the bet365 Gold Cup when last seen and could prove to be the main threat, ahead of The Kalooki Kid.

If Grade 1 winner HANDSTANDS is on the ball first time back then he'll be difficult to beat with so much in his favour.

VAL DANCER made a winning seasonal debut in this contest last year prior to landing the Welsh Grand National. He's 6lb higher than for that Chepstow success, but Mel Rowley's eight-year-old could prove even stronger this term and looks one to keep on the right side of. O'Connell enjoyed plenty of success in staying chases last season, culminating with a victory at Sandown and a second in the Eider. He's marginally preferred to Inis Oirr and Jet Legs, who are closely matched on recent running here.

Plenty with chances, including last year's winner Val Dancer, but an on-song GALIA DES LITEAUX wouldn't be far away.

Admiralty House was just denied at Fakenham back in March and looks on a fair mark on his first start for a new yard. Dunnet Head has also switched trainers and is another to consider given he won this contest in 2023 and went close over 2m4f at this fixture last season. Saying that, WOODLAND PARK returned the impressive winner of a maiden hurdle at Leicester around this time last year and Olly Murphy's charge could prove better than his opening mark on his reappearance.

Woodland Park is feared but DUNNET HEAD (nap) has to be of interest given his eyecatching record at this meeting when fresh.
Ths is the racecard key.
