(5) (15/8 +32%)Bollin Neil |
15/8(+32%) | (5) Bollin Neil 15/8, Went clear with ease under an aggressive ride, scoring by 4 1/2l off 47 here on his penultimate start. Trained by a top course trainer. Suited by staying trips in both codes, enjoys cut and goes well at Catterick. Remains on a fair mark. Seized initiative to win unchallenged over C&D (100-30) penultimate start; merits respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (3/1 -9%)Stellarmasterpiece |
3/1(-9%) | (1) Stellarmasterpiece 3/1, Improved again, needing every yard when landing a handicap by a neck off 63 over 12f here last time. Effective from 12-14f, handles fast ground and seems to like give. In solid form and should remain competitive. 2lb higher than when edging out in-form rival over 1m4f here latest; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (4/1 +33%)Hiccups |
4/1(+33%) | (6) Hiccups 4/1, Made too much use of when beaten 5l in a 2m handicap at Ffos Las last time. Usually consistent, with trainer in form. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Effective from 12-16f, suited by cut, but looks limited. Didn't appear to fully stay at Ffos Las (2m; sixth) latest; back to 1m6f in a tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (5/1 +17%)Universal Story |
5/1(+17%) | (2) Universal Story 5/1, Another poor handicap run when well beaten in a 10f handicap at Nottingham last time. Off a short break; effective at 10f and acts on all-weather, but yet to prove as good on turf. Third in a Wolverhampton maiden (9.5f) in January; no joy on turf since; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (7/1 -17%)Throne Hall |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Throne Hall 7/1, Unable to dominate when well beaten in a 2m handicap at Lingfield last time. Suited by 14f+, acts on any ground. Capable off this mark but inconsistent in form. Did too much too soon when fifth to Stellarmasterpiece (1m4f, here) on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/1 -100%)Twoforthegutter |
9/1(-100%) | (3) Twoforthegutter 9/1, Returned to form off a reduced mark at his favoured venue, winning a handicap by a length off 52 over 12f at Hamilton last time. Effective from 12-14f, acts on soft and good to firm. Goes well at Hamilton but has never won off a mark this high. Kept on well to score at his beloved Hamilton (1m4f, good) four weeks ago; 5lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (125/1 -150%)Victoria Legend |
125/1(-150%) | (7) Victoria Legend 125/1, Failed to find much when the race collapsed, well beaten in an 11f handicap at Ripon last time. Generally out of form and remains a regressive maiden. Yet to make the frame in 11 starts; tough task from 9lb 'wrong'; better to look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

STELLARMASTERPIECE returned to winning ways over 1m4f here last month and a 2lb rise may not be enough to stop the five-year-old from following up. Twoforthegutter also scored on his most recent outing but a 5lb hike for that success demands more from him, while Bollin Neil edges out Throne Hall and Hiccups to be the pick of the remainder.

A tricky opener. The safest option could be the six-time course winner BOLLIN NEIL who should give it a good go from the front.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

14/1(+13%) | (13) Our Absent Friends 14/1, Never involved in a Ripon handicap last time, which was dominated from the front. Effective at 5f, acts on good to soft and good to firm. On a long losing run. Closely matched with a couple of these on a recent C&D run; below par latest. |

(7) (66/1 -32%)Desert Champion |
66/1(-32%) | (7) Desert Champion 66/1, Forced wide and found little, beaten 10l in a handicap here last time. Generally out of form and has first-time cheekpieces. Drawn wide. Effective at 5f on all-weather but yet to prove himself on turf; currently out of form. Big prices and well held in three runs for new yard; down in class with cheekpieces added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BIRKENHEAD was only narrowly denied when third over C&D a few weeks ago and it would be no surprise to see Paul Midgley's gelding play a leading role off the same mark here. Betweenthesticks has filled second place on both starts since winning at Pontefract in August and he is likely to go well once again. Others to note are Equity Law, Albegone and Thankuappreciate.

Albegone loves it here and is greatly respected but THANKUAPPRECIATE is handicapped to win and ran well at Beverley last time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/2 +15%)Lope Harswell |
11/2(+15%) | (5) Lope Harswell 11/2, Ran to form when stepped up in trip, beaten 10l in a maiden at Thirsk last time. Usually consistent; trainer in form; yet to show much and may need further than 5f. Hinted there could be better to come but she couldn't be a confident pick on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (9/1 +44%)Dance Hello |
9/1(+44%) | (7) Dance Hello 9/1, Ran to form but comfortably held in a novice over 5f here last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (25/1 -127%)Preminision |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (125/1 -346%)U Heat |
125/1(-346%) | (9) U Heat 125/1, Too keen when stepped up in grade, finishing fourth and beaten 12l in a maiden over 5f at Hamilton last time. Hood first time; off a short break; yet to show any signs of ability. Failed to beat a rival in three runs (5f-6f); transformation needed in newly applied hood. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LOOKS LIKELY put in a career best when second on her nursery debut over 5f at Chepstow last month. The first-time application of cheekpieces and step up in trip may be enough to see Hugo Palmer's filly get off the mark. Maasai Mata was third off this rating at Beverley last time and may prove to be the main danger, although Preminision should not be written off.

Looks Likely is a serious contender in a race lacking strength in depth. However, it could pay to take a chance on SPARTACUS FORCE.

(1) (22/1 +33%)Harry Whodeanie |
22/1(+33%) | (1) Harry Whodeanie 22/1, Ran to debut form when well beaten in a novice at Newcastle last time; speedily bred and expected to know much more on his second start. Only beat one home in each of two starts last month; looks one for handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (100/1 -52%)Benjamin Brodie |
100/1(-52%) | (4) Benjamin Brodie 100/1, Showed nothing when well beaten in a 7f Newcastle maiden on debut; returns from a long absence and has it all to do. Completely tailed off on his Newcastle debut in June last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

U SURE DO has shown ability in his six career outings, most recently finishing a fair fourth in a class 4 handicap at Carlisle. The three-year-old drops back into maiden company and looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to get off the mark. Gennadius was beaten a length into second over 7f at Brighton last time and the drop back in trip looks a good move, so he has to be considered. Harry Whodeanie can beat Benjamin Brodie home for third.

This looks a match between U SURE DO and Gennadius, with the former bringing the better form and given the nod.

Only seventh of ten in 6f Hamilton handicap last time; needs to bounce back. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/2 +44%)One More Dream |
9/2(+44%) | (3) One More Dream 9/2, Below form when beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap over 5f at Beverley last time; generally out of form; top course jockey booked; effective at 5-6f. Hinted at revival when sixth at Beverley latest; a likely player off a slipping mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (6/1 +20%)Flowstate |
6/1(+20%) | (2) Flowstate 6/1, Ran to form when scoring by 1/2l off 61 here two starts back; again ran to form when fifth, beaten 5l off 64 last time; effective at 5/6f, handles any ground; generally consistent and still well treated on best form. Not disgraced when fifth of ten in 6f Hamilton handicap six days ago; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (7/1 +36%)Evocative Spark |
7/1(+36%) | (5) Evocative Spark 7/1, Below form when upped in grade and beaten 5l in a handicap at Wolverhampton last time; significant jockey booking; effective at 6-7f, handles good to soft; has been out of form this year. Tried in cheekpieces when only seventh at Wolver three weeks ago; needs to step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (9/1 -29%)Highjacked |
9/1(-29%) | (8) Highjacked 9/1, Returned to form when beaten 2l off 56 here last time; effective at 6f, handles any ground; generally out of form. C&D scorer; good fourth over C&D in July; one to consider off same mark after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (28/1 -75%)Pit Boss |
28/1(-75%) | (6) Pit Boss 28/1, Below form when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; effective at 7f, with 6f also suiting at 2yo; handles good to soft and good to firm; current mark looks stiff. Not disgraced on yard debut when seventh over C&D 22 days ago; possibilities. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Flowstate struck over C&D prior to only managing fifth at Hamilton six days ago and he might be worth another chance. However, CROCODILE POWER hasn't finished out of the frame in each of his last three starts and now has Shay Farmer claiming a handy 7lb. The seven-year-old has stuck over track and trip three times in the past and may improve on that record. Dream Deal completes the shortlist.

This could go to ONE MORE DREAM (nap) who took a step back in the right direction when sixth at Beverley last time.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (80/1 -220%)Oilisa |
80/1(-220%) | (11) Oilisa 80/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a 6f maiden at Southwell latest. Usually consistent and tends to be held up, but yet to show anything of note. Has shown little in three starts; steps up in trip on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LAW DEGREE appreciated a return to this class when second at Musselburgh a fortnight ago and he looks more than capable of scoring. A 1lb rise in the ratings for Tim Easterby's gelding could prove to be lenient and he edges the vote over the up-in-distance Uncle Sam. The son of Washington DC has hit the frame on both outings over 6f this year and this extra furlong is worth exploring. Lima Sierra is the pick of the remainder.

A wide-open contest but preference is for EY UP HE'S A STAR to get off the mark. The main danger is Uncle Sam.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (50/1 +0%)Wath Court |
50/1(+0%) | (12) Wath Court 50/1, Never threatened when down the field in a handicap over 10f at Newcastle most recently; seems to stay 12f and act on the all-weather; overall form is largely very poor. 24-race maiden; highly unlikely that he's the solution from out of the handicap proper. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having opened his account when making all in a classified event over C&D last time out, Filey Beach cannot be dismissed in his current vein of form. However, the four-year-old is reverting to handicap company off a career-high mark. EMERALD ARMY didn't enjoy the best of passages on his latest third over C&D and he ticks plenty of the right boxes. Fellow in-form rival One More Bottle may give the selection most to think about.

Emerald Army arrives in top form, while Filey Beach remains open to improvement. However, ONE MORE BOTTLE is the tentative pick.
Ths is the racecard key.
