WILLOFTHEPEOPLE shaped nicely on his debut at Down Royal back in June and that form has worked out well. The A'Ali colt stayed on to finish fourth to stablemate Sir Alfie and was only a neck off another Ger Lyons-trained runner, Howd'yadoit, at the line. That horse has won twice since, including taking the valuable Ballyhane Stakes at Naas. Coincidental Glory showed a nice bit of improvement when third on his second outing at Sligo and is another to consider. Of the newcomers, the Joseph O'Brien-trained Mushaffar is one to note in the market. He was a 125,000-euro purchase at the breeze-ups in May.

This looks like a good opportunity for WILLOFTHEPEOPLE to build on a debut fourth in an event well-advertised by stablemate Howd'yadoit

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (14/1 +36%)Gelato |
14/1(+36%) | (7) Gelato 14/1, Appeared not to stay when down the field in an auction race at Naas most recent; usually consistent; blinkers first time; significant jockey booking; stamina concerns once more Fine effort on debut, struggled in Ballyhane latest, blinkers on, might need it softer. |

SIR ALFIE doesn't look badly treated off his mark of 85 and Nicola Burns taking 7lb off the top-weight is a big help. The Dark Angel colt won his maiden at Down Royal back in June and that form has worked out well. He has run two solid races since, most recently when third off this figure in a rated contest at Cork. Raphello lost out narrowly in a Sligo maiden 10 days ago and he could be the danger now trying handicap company for the first time. Believe In Glory, third in a maiden over in Beverley last time, is another to consider further down the weights.

A tentative vote goes to MONTE VISTA who is bred to be suited by the step up to 6f in her first handicap.

7th (7) (66/1 +0%)Rosie Frith |
66/1(+0%) | (7) Rosie Frith 66/1, Ideally suited by trip when winning an auction race at Cork by 2 1/4l last time; sound surface suits; lot to find up in grade Sprang a 20-1 surprise over this trip at Cork last month, takes a big jump in class now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

KANSAS can gain revenge on Jack The Bachelor after chasing him home in Cork just over three weeks ago. The Wootton Bassett colt finished a length-and-a-quarter second then, but he was giving his rival 5lb and they race off levels now. Jack The Bachelor kicked from the front that day and maintained his advantage to the line. He has to be respected again. Ipanema Queen was no match for Havana Anna at Naas but it was a solid run in second and she also has to be on the shortlist, getting a few pounds from the boys.

The consistent Kansas should go close but may not cope with Listed runner-up IPANEMA QUEEN (nap), whose yard is in top form

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

LOS ANGELES is the class act and it would be a surprise if he got turned over on his return from a little break. The Camelot colt started the season in great form with victories in the Mooresbridge Stakes and Tattersalls Gold Cup. He faded tamely, though, off a strong pace in the Prince Of Wales's at Royal Ascot and bids to bounce back now in lesser company. Zahrann ran really well at Ascot when a staying-on second in the King Edward VII Stakes. This drop in trip probably isn't ideal, but the progressive three-year-old may be the one to give the selection most to do. The consistent Galen should run his race and get in the money.

Three from three at this venue, 2024 Irish Derby winner LOS ANGELES can get his season back on track after a Royal Ascot failure

2nd (2) (9/2 +10%)Heavenly Power |
9/2(+10%) | (2) Heavenly Power 9/2, Won this last year off 7lb lower; beaten 8l in Scurry Handicap here last time where went too fast; usually consistent; trainer in form; can bounce back Good efforts in May-June, too keen in the Scurry here latest, may prefer easier ground. |

4th (6) (5/1 +50%)Apache Outlaw |
5/1(+50%) | (6) Apache Outlaw 5/1, Below par when down the field in a handicap over 7f at Chepstow most recent; well treated on previous Galway run; thrown in on AW form; chance 5f course winner, back to form at Galway, not as good latest but could rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 0%)Brigid's Cloak |
8/1(0%) | (5) Brigid's Cloak 8/1, Well treated at weights when scored by 4 1/4l off 70 here in May; fifth beaten 6l off 84 last time; may need to come down a few lbs 3yo filly, won two this year inc' over C&D, below par the last twice, 12lb above last win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (9/2 +44%)Rappell |
9/2(+44%) | (9) Rappell 9/2, Slowly away beaten 2l off 72 here last time; visor first time; wide draw; consistent; sound surface suits; vulnerable in this grade C&D winner off 66, upped in class, 7lb wrong, visor needs to eke out much more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 +14%)Ja'marr |
12/1(+14%) | (8) Ja'marr 12/1, Beaten 8l in a handicap over 9f at Galway last time; in good form prior; likely to find this inadequate test Two-time 1m AW winner, ground excuse latest, 4lb wrong but should be staying on late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/1 -29%)Kings Time |
9/1(-29%) | (3) Kings Time 9/1, Below par beaten 5l in a handicap over 7f at Cork last time; wide draw; off a short-break; inconsistent; needs stiff test at the trip but threat if getting it Lightly raced since 7f win at Cork off 7lb lower, trip may be on the sharp side. |

CHARASSON doesn't look harshly treated trying handicap company for the first time. The Kodiac filly won her maiden over C&D before diving into a Listed affair at Naas. She was far from disgraced when finishing fifth to Sky Majesty and is still open to improvement on just her fourth career outing. Queen Of Mougins was stakes-placed twice for Ralph Beckett last year and is interesting on her first start for Adrian Murray. Heavenly Power was well beaten on his last visit here, but his three track-and-trip triumphs include this race 12 months ago and he could be each-way value.

CHARASSON looked a promising prospect when winning her maiden over C&D and she is bred to be better than her opening mark of 90

4th (5) (10/11 +17%)Puppet Master |
10/11(+17%) | (5) Puppet Master 10/11, Yard won this last year; lazy early on and ran no sort of race down the field in Irish Derby (Group 1) over 12f here most recent; in good form prior; top course jockey/trainer combination; Lingfield Derby Trial winner but one to treat with some caution 3yo, won the Lingfield Derby Trial, below par in Irish Derby, stamina a query. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

PUPPET MASTER is worth another chance, despite only beating one home in the Irish Derby. In rear throughout, the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt could never get competitive but, having looked like a stayer when finding plenty to win the Lingfield Derby Trial, the son of Camelot gives the impression he should be suited to this longer trip. Versatile seven-year-old Absurde looks his main threat. A former Ebor and County Hurdle winner, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding has twice run respectably in the Melbourne Cup. Dallas Star should be suited to dropping back in trip having raced over further of late.

21st (14) (40/1 -21%)Eutropia |
40/1(-21%) | (14) Eutropia 40/1, Appeared not to stay down the field in a handicap over 10f at Ballinrobe most recent; drop in trip a plus; tongue-tie first time; wide draw; still early days; each way claims Third on handicap debut at Bellewstown, Ballinrobe run too bad to be true, tongue-tie now. |

York runner-up WITHOUTFURTHERADO can go one better back on home soil. Somewhat unlucky in running when staying on late to finish fifth at Gowran on his previous start, the Arthur Moore-trained gelding looked to appreciate stepping up to a mile on the Knavesmire. Kept at that distance now, the three-year-old seems to be fairly handicapped off just 2lb higher. Auburn Avenue, who took minor honours in a Dundalk maiden last month, should be competitive back in handicap company. Third over C&D earlier in the season, the Phoenix Of Spain filly has every chance for trainer Chris Timmons. Justenzia is worth a market check on her first start for Denis Hogan.

After a good C&D run early in the season, AUBURN AVENUE flopped at Leopardstown but could now be poised to win after a Dundalk second

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (33/1 +18%)Jered Maddox |
33/1(+18%) | (1) Jered Maddox 33/1, Below par down the field in a handicap at Naas most recent; generally out of form since spring AW wins; top jockey back on board; better on artificial surfaces AW specialist is 1-26 on turf, well beaten last three runs at Naas, others in better form. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (16/1 -113%)Cu Chulainn |
16/1(-113%) | (13) Cu Chulainn 16/1, Ran to form beaten 3 1/2l off 43 at Cork last time; all wins on AW; significant jockey booking; others more reliable Yet to win on turf but has run well in two of last four starts, 6lb wrong here, tough task. |

AMERICAN IN PARIS has strong claims of providing her young apprentice with a second success. A winner on her penultimate appearance at Naas, the Paul Flynn-trained mare is weighted to confirm that form with runner-up Annie Lavinia. Having run a solid race when mid-division at Cork subsequently, the five-year-old might benefit from having 10lb off her back here. Nicely drawn towards the stands rail, the daughter of Starspangledbanner should be a leading player. Annie Lavinia is bidding to follow up a breakthrough win at Naas and, despite having a bit to find with the selection, she should be competitive. Send Harry is an improving three-year-old worth considering.

VON KROLOCK was only beaten 1.25l when third in this last year and he may be able to go two places better off 8lb lower
Ths is the racecard key.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
