1st (2) (13/8 -225%)Real Quartz |
13/8(-225%) | (2) Real Quartz 13/8, Made a very promising debut after wind surgery when winning a maiden hurdle at Carlisle by 3l last time. This is his second run since the procedure; effective over 2m1f and acts on soft ground. A point winner with scope for further progress for a top yard. Point win last November and followed up on hurdle debut a year later; can stay unbeaten. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/8 +41%)Uptown Dandy |
13/8(+41%) | (4) Uptown Dandy 13/8, Outpaced early but rallied strongly on a very promising debut when second beaten 1 1/4l in a novice hurdle at Wetherby last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts on soft and good ground; his debut form has been franked, and longer trips should suit in time. Big player getting weight from main rivals. Placed in all three bumpers and solid second on Wetherby hurdle debut; likely to go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +27%)Freshers Week |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Freshers Week 4/1, Ran to form when stepping up in trip under a penalty, finishing second beaten 7l in the Introductory Hurdle at Ludlow last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts on good ground; in good form and remains competitive under a penalty. Won point/hurdle on first two starts; creditable second under penalty at Ludlow latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (11/2 +89%)Name Me Nicely |
11/2(+89%) | (3) Name Me Nicely 11/2, Showed greenness and made mistakes when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Fontwell last time. The trainer is in form, and he returns from a short break. Acts on good to soft ground, and the step up from 2m should suit over hurdles, though improvement is needed. Third on point debut but no significant impact in bumper/maiden hurdle under rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Freshers Week carried a penalty for his hurdling debut victory at Market Rasen when second at Ludlow last time. REAL QUARTZ may have more success defying a penalty, given he landed the odds with the minimum of fuss at Carlisle on his Rules debut and first start for Dan Skelton. He looks a potentially smart recruit to the hurdling ranks and is also preferred to Wetherby runner-up Uptown Dandy and Name Me Nicely.

Dan Skelton's REAL QUARTZ is selected to remain unbeaten at the expense of last month's Wetherby runner-up Uptown Dandy.

1st (3) (11/4 +8%)Jordans Cross |
11/4(+8%) | (3) Jordans Cross 11/4, Won by 2 1/2l off 120 at Aintree on his penultimate start; travelled well and was challenging when falling late last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on decent or soft ground; progressing and remains competitive up 4lb. Looked set to win when falling at Cheltenham so looks well treated off 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 +33%)Go West |
3/1(+33%) | (1) Go West 3/1, Jumped well and did it cosily in a beginners' chase at Warwick, winning by 1 1/2l in a match race. Effective around 2 1/2m on soft and good ground; debut form has been franked and he could progress over fences. Won a match on chase debut but jumped well and the other runner has won since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 -40%)Zurich |
7/2(-40%) | (2) Zurich 7/2, Travelled strongly and did it cosily when landing a handicap by 2 1/4l off 125 at Cheltenham. Effective from 2m to 2 1/4m on soft and good ground; form has been franked and there may be more to come for this top yard. Improving Irish raider; well on top at Cheltenham last time off a 6lb lower mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/3 +33%)Rightsotom |
10/3(+33%) | (4) Rightsotom 10/3, Outpaced but improved from debut when a 3l third in the Grade 2 Rising Stars Novices' Chase at Wincanton. Trainer in good form; effective at 2 1/2m and fairly treated back in a handicap; could progress when tried over further. Left first run over fences behind to be a rallying third in a Grade 2 at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 -7%)That's Nice |
8/1(-7%) | (5) That's Nice 8/1, Outpaced and needed the run on chase debut when well beaten in a handicap at Exeter. Cheekpieces go on for the first time; effective at 2 1/2m and could leave that form behind if ridden more positively. 2-3 in novice hurdles and capable of better than she showed on chase/handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Zurich has looked an improved chaser this season and scored nicely at Cheltenham in October to land a double. The Irish raider can feature again, but JORDANS CROSS may edge a tight contest. Anthony Honeyball's five-year-old won at Aintree on his chasing bow and was still in contention at Cheltenham last month when coming a cropper at the last. He looks worthy of another chance, while Warwick winner Go West is not out of this either.

Given that JORDANS CROSS looked set to win when coming down at Cheltenham, he still looks well handicapped off 4lb higher.

1st (7) (9/1 +10%)Cuban Court |
9/1(+10%) | (7) Cuban Court 9/1, Stepped up in trip and didn't stay, comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Kempton last time. Consistent hurdler has won at this venue so not dismissed starting out over fences. Fair mark for this chasing debut but soft ground might not be his preference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/11 +39%)Spadestep |
10/11(+39%) | (3) Spadestep 10/11, Ran to form on chase debut when beaten 2 1/2l off 114 at Aintree last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time, debut form franked, and could improve for this slightly longer trip if handling the testing ground. Excellent second on chase debut at Aintree; some concerns over today's slower ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (14/1 -155%)Willie Shake Hands |
14/1(-155%) | (5) Willie Shake Hands 14/1, Travelled well but emptied late, having been made too much use of, when fourth beaten 15l in a handicap chase at Cartmel last time. Returning from a break, effective at 2m, acts on good ground, and generally consistent. Improving chaser on good ground but took a backward step on soft the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -50%)Rumoursareflying |
6/1(-50%) | (4) Rumoursareflying 6/1, Improved when landing a handicap by 2 1/4l off 108 at Ludlow last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Progressing and may stay a bit further in time. The Ludlow race he won did fall apart at the seams; may need more off 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7/2 +30%)Inishnabro |
7/2(+30%) | (6) Inishnabro 7/2, Outpaced before rallying gamely and seeing out the longer trip well when second beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Southwell last time. Returning from a long layoff and open to marked improvement. Progressing over hurdles when last seen and he does have a pointing background. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (9/1 +25%)Parc D'amour |
9/1(+25%) | (2) Parc D'amour 9/1, Keen and found little when well beaten in a handicap chase at Huntingdon last time. Trainer in form but out of sorts since returning from a layoff. Struggled over hurdles/fences since returning from a long layoff and questions to answer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Winning hurdler SPADESTEP made a pleasing debut over the larger obstacles when runner-up at Aintree in October. This looks less competitive and the six-year-old has plenty of scope for improvement with a tongue strap applied for the first time. Rumoursareflying has been raised 4lb for scoring at Ludlow but that's unlikely to prevent another bold bid, while last-start Cartmel fourth Willie Shake Hands is expected to fare better in this lower grade.

The one with the most potential is SPADESTEP who ran such an encouraging first race over fences at Aintree.

1st (9) (4/1 +27%)Romeo Brown |
4/1(+27%) | (9) Romeo Brown 4/1, Went clear and did it easily when returning to form off a reduced mark, winning by 27l off 96 here last time under a well-judged ride. Trainer in form. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts on good to soft and good ground. Still well treated on old form. Won a weak C&D race last time so a 6lb rise may be enough to find out this veteran. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (25/1 -150%)Breezethroughlife |
25/1(-150%) | (5) Breezethroughlife 25/1, Below form under a penalty when comfortably held in a novice hurdle at Kempton last time but had been in good form prior. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on good ground. Opening mark looks demanding. 2m4f maiden win in October but well held at Kempton since; up in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (14/1 +0%)Not A Light |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Not A Light 14/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced, not taking to chasing and needing the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Windsor last time. Wears a hood for the first time. Effective around 2m4f and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Well beaten in handicap hurdle/chase nine months apart; hooded now back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (6/1 +40%)Diamond Koda |
6/1(+40%) | (8) Diamond Koda 6/1, Outpaced but ran to form when fourth, beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces applied for the first time. Effective at 2 1/2m and acts on good ground. Consistent but frustrating, often gets behind in his races. Maiden but placed all starts last term and may come on for reappearance; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (6/1 +33%)Betty's Tiara |
6/1(+33%) | (6) Betty's Tiara 6/1, Raced lazily and ran below form when fourth, beaten 29l in a novice hurdle at Exeter last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts on any ground. Generally consistent until latest effort but not straightforward. Form of 2m7f maiden win in September worked out but below that level twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/2 +13%)Stratton Oakmont |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Stratton Oakmont 7/2, Did it comfortably when returning to form off a reduced mark after a wind operation, winning by 9 1/2l off 105 at Exeter last time. This is his second run after that procedure. Effective over 3m and acts on any ground. Easy win on Exeter reappearance and 9lb rise may not stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (12/1 -20%)Monty Bodkin |
12/1(-20%) | (3) Monty Bodkin 12/1, Outpaced and never threatened but ran to form when beaten 9 1/2l in a novice hurdle at Worcester last time. Returns from a short break. Effective around 2 1/2m and acts on good to soft and good ground. Inconsistent but on a fair mark. Bumper winner; hasn't built on that since hurdling but is unexposed now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (16/1 -300%)Bridge North |
16/1(-300%) | (1) Bridge North 16/1, Returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when beaten 3l off a mark of 114 at Southwell last time. Effective over 3m and handles soft and good ground. Tricky to win with but well treated if building on that recent revival. Back on form for James Owen when second at Southwell recently; considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Connections of HEATHER HONEY have resisted the temptation of pitching her into the Listed race later on the card and the decision can pay off. The six-year-old ran well to a point when heading the market for an Aintree class 3 before staying on strongly to reward those favourite-backers who kept the faith at Catterick. Her stablemate Romeo Brown and Stratton Oakmont also arrive in winning form, with the latter feared most after showing the benefit of a wind operation at Exeter. Betty's Tiara also has claims now back in a handicap.

If STRATTON OAKMONT is in the same form as when winning easily on his Exeter reappearance, a 9lb rise may not stop him going in again.

1st (4) (9/2 -64%)Docpickedme |
9/2(-64%) | (4) Docpickedme 9/2, Raced prominently and did plenty early when third, beaten 19l, in the Rehearsal Handicap Chase at Newcastle last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and suited by decent ground, though has been inconsistent this season. Went close in this last year and looks set to make another bold bid after good run latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/2 +13%)Alcedo |
7/2(+13%) | (6) Alcedo 7/2, Rallied gamely to score by a nose off 120 at Newcastle when upped in trip and fitted with first-time cheekpieces. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and suited by some cut; may progress further. Clear with unexposed one when scoring over 2m4f latest; player if as effective back at 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/4 +32%)Prince Zaltar |
9/4(+32%) | (7) Prince Zaltar 9/4, Won by 2 1/2l off 114 at Newton Abbot three starts ago and ran to form when just outstayed, finishing second beaten 3l off 119 last time. Looks well treated on his hurdle form and thriving for new yard; should be bang there. Chase winner in Ireland and in good form over hurdles since joining Dan Skelton; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 +27%)Joyeux Machin |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Joyeux Machin 4/1, Below form when upped in grade after a wind operation, well beaten in the Stayers' Premier Handicap Hurdle at Haydock last time. This is his second run since the procedure, and he remains in the mix switched to fences though stable has stronger claims. Below par over hurdles this autumn; first chase run for yard (won chase in Ireland). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (8/1 +6%)Hurricane Bay |
8/1(+6%) | (3) Hurricane Bay 8/1, Produced a solid effort when tiring late on after stepping up in trip following a break and wind operation, possibly outstayed when second beaten 13l in a handicap chase here last time. Trainer in form; second run after the procedure and a sharper track may suit. Fakenham win in June and returned from wind op with respectable second over C&D recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/1 -11%)Ile De Jersey |
10/1(-11%) | (2) Ile De Jersey 10/1, Won by 4 1/2l off 127 at Warwick on her penultimate start but disappointed up in grade when sixth, beaten 44l off 132 last time. Returns from a short break; sound surface suits and she stays 2 1/2-3m, though conditions may be a concern. Won over 3m1f at Warwick in September but well held at Chepstow since; off two months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 -122%)Erne River |
20/1(-122%) | (5) Erne River 20/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Effective at 3m and prefers decent ground. Previously in form and goes well at Doncaster; a threat if the surface is not too testing. Goes very well at Doncaster but been off eight months and recent record fresh isn't great. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Dan Skelton switches Joyeux Machin and PRINCE ZALTAR back to fences and it is the last-named who makes most appeal. The eight-year-old beat all bar subsequent winner Kikijo at Cheltenham and is able to compete here from the same mark. Docpickedme made the frame in the Rehearsal and is now back to the rating from which he landed the Great Yorkshire over C&D. The Venetia Williams stable is clicking into gear and Alcedo played a part in that when successful on ground that probably wasn't as testing as he'd like at Newcastle.

Docpickedme can go well in this again but PRINCE ZALTAR (nap) is well treated if he can translate recent hurdle form back to fences.

1st (2) (10/1 -25%)Lavida Adiva |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Lavida Adiva 10/1, Travelled well but flattened out late, running to form when fourth and beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, consistent though the handicapper shows little leniency. 3m Listed win in March; better form in handicaps since but has a bit to find with Kateira. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/1 +27%)Molto Bene |
8/1(+27%) | (6) Molto Bene 8/1, Improved again when stepped up in trip under a positive ride at a sharp track, winning a handicap chase at Huntingdon by 2 1/2l last time. Progressive type likely to struggle in this grade. 2-2 over fences this term but bit to find even if translating that form back to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/10 -65%)Kateira |
11/10(-65%) | (1) Kateira 11/10, Never threatened when stepped up in grade in a race dominated from the front, finishing fourth and beaten 9 1/2l in the Ascot Hurdle (Grade 2) at Ascot last time. Effective from 2m to 3m, suited by a sound surface, and consistent. Smart; landed second Listed win on reappearance; fourth in Grade 2 since; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/2 +38%)World Of Fortunes |
5/2(+38%) | (3) World Of Fortunes 5/2, Ran to form when second and beaten 1/2l in the Cailin Alainn Mares Hurdle (Listed) at Limerick last time. Off a short break, stays 3m, and a sound surface suits. A useful and consistent hurdler, C&D winner who should remain competitive. C&D Listed win in March; has returned in even better form but Kateira might be too strong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (13/2 +19%)Bethpage |
13/2(+19%) | (4) Bethpage 13/2, Ran to form down in trip when second and beaten 2l in a Listed Mares' Hurdle at Kempton last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m, with her form franked and holding her form well. Good second at this level at Kempton latest but this looks a stronger race of its type. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

This appears to be a simple task for KATEIRA. Dan Skelton's mare scored at Wetherby in a match against Champion Hurdle heroine Golden Ace, who scoped dirty afterwards before going on to land a dramatic Fighting Fifth. The selection then finished fourth in the Ascot Hurdle and a repeat of either effort would be more than enough. World Of Fortunes was runner-up in Listed company at Limerick in October and has to enter calculations along with Bethpage, who produced a career-best effort when second at Kempton last time.

This looks a good chance for KATEIRA to land a third win in this grade. Fellow dual Listed scorer World Of Fortunes is next best.

1st (6) (5/4 +64%)Lanesborough |
5/4(+64%) | (6) Lanesborough 5/4, Improved down in grade when landing a handicap by 5l off 108 at Warwick last time. Returning from a long layoff but progressive on previous form. Effective around 2 1/2m and handles ground with some cut. Should progress further this term and holds strong claims if fit. Progressive earlier in the year; good chance if he's straight enough after his time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/2 -8%)Williethebuilder |
13/2(-8%) | (4) Williethebuilder 13/2, Returned to form when beaten 2l off 122 at Windsor last time, having had too much to do. Effective at 2m and may not stay further; looks on a good mark if building on that recent revival. Has won off a higher mark and, back at 2m, he was only 2l away at Windsor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 -122%)Bowmore |
5/1(-122%) | (1) Bowmore 5/1, Did it readily when winning a handicap by 5l off 124 at Newbury last time; up 2lb and improving; trainer in form. Effective at 2m on good ground and progressing since being returned to hurdles and ridden positively. Up 10lb for winning so well at Newbury but he's clearly a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 +52%)Cormier |
12/1(+52%) | (7) Cormier 12/1, Won by 3 1/4l off 68 at Nottingham two starts back. Made mistakes and may not have stayed when seventh beaten 32l off 121 last time. Effective at 2m; may not be quite the force of old over jumps. Recent Flat winner; faced a tough task at Haydock on his return to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 -33%)Amancio |
8/1(-33%) | (5) Amancio 8/1, Quickened clear comfortably to win a novice hurdle at Sedgefield by 5l last time. Enjoys making the running; effective at 2m and handles any ground on the Flat. Progressive type over hurdles. 2-6 over hurdles after his Sedgefield win; not thrown in here for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 -150%)Belle Le Grand |
25/1(-150%) | (8) Belle Le Grand 25/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Ludlow last time when still in contention, having done plenty early. Enjoys making the running; effective at 2m on good to soft or good ground and looks on a fair mark based on novice win. Wasn't done with when falling three out on her handicap debut at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (6/1 +0%)Washington |
6/1(+0%) | (2) Washington 6/1, Won by 3l off 128 at Chepstow two starts back. Too free and failed to find much when 11th beaten 24l off 132 last time. Effective at 2m, handles soft and good ground; current mark demands more. He is prone to off days and had another at Ascot last month, albeit in a strong race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (50/1 +0%)Vernon Subutex |
50/1(+0%) | (9) Vernon Subutex 50/1, Keen and made too much use of when beaten 9l in a handicap hurdle at Perth last time but showed some improvement on recent form. Absent for a lengthy period; effective around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground though regressive previously. Won again in France 12 months ago but wouldn't be a solid option for this.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (18/1 +10%)Malystic |
18/1(+10%) | (3) Malystic 18/1, Won by 1/2l off 129 at Kelso three runs ago. Bit below form when fifth beaten 12l off 130 last time back over hurdles. Effective at 2m and suited by good ground, though better known as a chaser and inconsistent. Didn't run well enough on his belated return to hurdles to seriously consider here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Bowmore has proved a lot happier since being switched back to hurdles. The seven-year-old won well at Newbury last month and is expected to be in the mix again, but a chance is taken with AMANCIO. He has progressed nicely over timber and goes into handicap company fresh from a comfortable victory at Sedgefield. Lanesborough improved in handicaps earlier in the year and has to be of interest on his return to action.

Preference is for LANESBOROUGH who progressed well last season and only came out of the Swinton Hurdle in May at the eleventh hour.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
