14/1(+44%) | (9) Venetian 14/1, Scored by 3l off a 5lb lower mark here in January; made too much use of down in trip when fifth, beaten 4 1/4l off 80, last time and 1lb lower here; effective at 7-11f, the former suiting best; return to further. Trip inadequate on latest behind Prairie Girl; ideally wants further still. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (14/1 -133%)Collective Power |
14/1(-133%) | (6) Collective Power 14/1, Ran to form, benefitting from a drop in grade, when landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 7lb lower mark here last time; off a short break; effective at 6f; remains on a winning mark with an excellent C&D record. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (125/1 -213%)Alfred Tennyson |
125/1(-213%) | (10) Alfred Tennyson 125/1, No obvious excuse when beaten 10l in a handicap here last time; cheekpieces first time; effective at 6/7f; ex-Ballydoyle and might be capable of better. Yet to fire for this yard; drops in distance with cheekpieces replacing tongue-tie. |

SIR LES PATTERSON ran on strongly to win in the same grade over C&D in November, which is notable form. Connections pinpointed the valuable Good Friday card at Newcastle for their talented sprinter, for which he needs one more run to be eligible. Prairie Girl is a real speedball over 5f, winning three of her last four races and being demoted from first in the other. It will be interesting to see how she copes with the extra furlong. Collective Power travelled well in winning in a lesser grade over track and trip, while Little Queenie is likely to be prominent from stall one. Apache Outlaw could be the pick of Ado McGuinness' trio.

Preference is for the returning COLLECTIVE POWER, whose C&D win in November has been well-franked since by the runner-up

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/2 +15%)Battle Borne |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (9/1 +25%)Gaiety Girl |
9/1(+25%) | (10) Gaiety Girl 9/1, Green early but finished well on a promising debut when third, beaten 4 1/4l, in a maiden here. Off a short break; effective at 7f and should improve a little for that initial experience. Caught the eye when staying on for third on C&D debut; may improve on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (16/1 -100%)Reposado |
16/1(-100%) | (7) Reposado 16/1, Kicked clear too soon up in trip in first-time blinkers and did not get home when fourth, beaten 7l, in a maiden here latest. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (22/1 -83%)Oxford Circus |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (300/1 -140%)Gonirianbotharleat |
300/1(-140%) | (3) Gonirianbotharleat 300/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability. Speed and stamina in the pedigree, but may need more time. A lot to do based on two runs over 1m here; beaten 20l at 125-1 last time. |

First-time cheekpieces could eke out a bit more from GO OUT, who has finished second on his two appearances here, beaten less than a length on both occasions. Je Suis Celebre looks dangerous on his first start for Stephen Thorne. He just failed to get off the mark at Kempton last month for his former trainer Ian Williams. Battle Borne was gambled on and kept the odds-on winner more than honest over 1m here last week, while Oxford Circus outran his odds when a staying-on third on debut over 6f at the same meeting. Reposado and Gaiety Girl aren't out of it.

A close second at Kempton last time, with the pair well clear, JE SUIS CELEBRE could have more improvement in him on just his third run

6/1(-9%) | (6) Lahore Da King 6/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 9lb lower mark here on his penultimate start; ran to form when fourth, beaten 2 1/2l off 65 last time, 1lb higher here. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (100/1 -100%)Hosanna Power |
100/1(-100%) | (9) Hosanna Power 100/1, Never in the race when down the field in a handicap here most recently. Suited by 8-10f; bit to prove over this far. Turf winner in May 2024; 0-11 on AW and 20l behind here on stable debut; best watched. |

The last time OICHE RUA contested the '70' grade, she was victorious over C&D in November. She is back down to the same mark and has been acquitting herself reasonably well at a higher level since. Thaloria enjoyed her handicap debut when winning here from a tough draw last month and ought to be a contender, despite a 7lb rise. Notforalongtime is a 10-time winner who is capable of popping up, while Lahore Da King enjoys this trip in Dundalk and shouldn't be passed over. Porsche Lad has joined a new stable and is a trip-versatile sort with a chance.

THALORIA left her maiden form behind when scoring on C&D handicap debut last time at 40-1 and may be capable of more off 7lb higher

ASTRONOMICALLY has filled the runner-up berth on her last three appearances and cheekpieces are tried in a bid to make the breakthrough. Lady In Gold could be open to progress on her second start. Joseph O'Brien's charge was strong in the betting for her introduction over 7f, but a tardy start did for her and she came in eighth. O'Brien also saddles Vishaya, who was weak in the market ahead of her first start in the same race, yet finished third.

Kingman filly ECLAT made a pleasing C&D debut when third last time and she gets the nod to take this with improvement likely

(12) (25/1 +11%)Howyoulikethat |
25/1(+11%) | (12) Howyoulikethat 25/1, Had every chance but was a bit below form when beaten 3 1/4l off a 2lb higher mark here last time; off a short break. Effective at 8f and had been in decent form until that latest run. May need more help from the handicapper although rider's claim a positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (33/1 -200%)Ndaawi |
33/1(-200%) | (7) Ndaawi 33/1, May have found the ground a bit testing when 32l third in the Morgiana Hurdle (Grade 1) at Punchestown most recent; off a short break. Effective at 2m and a generally consistent handicapper in both codes, though vulnerable at this level. Staying handicapper returns from a break over inadequate trip and likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (40/1 -82%)Titanium |
40/1(-82%) | (11) Titanium 40/1, Had no obvious excuse when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Naas most recent; off a short break. Best around 8f and showed minor promise over hurdles in Ireland. Ordinary runs over hurdles recently; possibly best watched on AW return off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (66/1 -100%)Blues Emperor |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Blues Emperor 66/1, Below form back down in trip when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap here last time; returning from a break. Effective over 7-8f and now back below his last winning mark. Ex Johnny Murtagh trained; bought for 10,000euros and okay mark if forward enough. |

PINK OXALIS, one of three Stephen Thorne representatives, could be finishing off better than most. There's plenty to like about her last three runs in winning a valuable fillies' handicap at Leopardstown before finishing fifth and a close seventh in Listed races at Naas and here respectively. Stablemate Far From Dandy registered a C&D brace and is right in the mix for prize money. Carolina Jetstream gamely made all in a rated race over a furlong shorter last month and has her chance, while Thorne's Instant Appeal is another to consider. Moyassr is markedly up in class, but he is on a hat-trick and Reese Holohan's claim has him on a very light weight.

Very competitive with MOYASSR taken to complete a quick hat-trick of C&D wins

(3) (3/1 +45%)Unterberg |
3/1(+45%) | (3) Unterberg 3/1, Travelled best, wandered late and had a bit in hand when landing a handicap by 3l off a 7lb lower mark here last time; effective over 9-12f and appeared to progress on that occasion. Won with some authority over 1m2f here a week ago; 7lb higher but stays 1m4f and respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (10/3 +26%)Voice Of Reason |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Voice Of Reason 10/3, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 4lb lower mark here last time; effective over 10-16f; in form but a career best is needed again from this higher mark. Three from four here recently; another step forward needed but remains in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (7/2 +30%)Trishuli River |
7/2(+30%) | (6) Trishuli River 7/2, Scored by 2l off a 4lb lower mark here three starts ago; ran to form when second, beaten 3l off 74 last time and is 1lb lower now; effective over 8-12f, consistent but may need a bit more from this mark. C&D winner in December but needs to improve on recent efforts to play major role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (13/2 +19%)Satono Chevalier |
13/2(+19%) | (10) Satono Chevalier 13/2, Ran to form when second, beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap here latest; effective up to 10-12f and acts well on this surface; back in form of late off a much reduced mark and can go well. Two good C&D seconds for new yard; mark unchanged so could figure again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (8/1 +0%)Walhaan |
8/1(+0%) | (2) Walhaan 8/1, Scored by a neck off a 1lb lower mark here in December; now needs 10f and acts on any surface; inconsistent veteran but running well on the Flat and well treated on old form. Wins all at 1m2f, questions remain at this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (10/1 -122%)Benavente |
10/1(-122%) | (7) Benavente 10/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark here in December; did too much too soon having rushed up after missing the break when beaten in a claimer last time; top course jockey booked, effective over 8-12f and best on this surface; in good form and could bounce back. Held since December win; Keane takes over now from regular claiming rider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (11/1 +56%)Solomon |
11/1(+56%) | (9) Solomon 11/1, Never threatened off a modest pace having missed the break when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; usually held up; off a short break and effective over 10-12f, though unreliable. Slow starts when last seen; down to a nice mark but record fresh isn't great. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (16/1 -191%)Tyraxes |
16/1(-191%) | (8) Tyraxes 16/1, Ran to form in first-time cheekpieces when second, beaten a neck in a maiden here latest; effective over 10-12f on this surface and looks on a fair mark based on that maiden form. Two decent maiden runs last month; one to consider on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (25/1 -79%)Wandering Rocks |
25/1(-79%) | (5) Wandering Rocks 25/1, Outclassed up in grade when beaten 8l in a Rated Race here last time; effective over 12f; hurdles winner who is well treated on old efforts but remains unreliable. Promising C&D comeback run behind Voice Of Reason but well held since; senior rider on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (66/1 -200%)God Of Thunder |
66/1(-200%) | (4) God Of Thunder 66/1, Never threatened having missed the break when beaten 6l in a claimer here last time; returning from a break; effective over 12f and suited by this surface, though form has tailed off in both codes. Absent since below-par run in claimer here in October and may just need this. |

VOICE OF REASON has been a revelation over this trip at Dundalk, winning three times since October. He's a tough sort who knows how to battle once he comes off the bridle in the straight. Crucially, he remains in the same grade that he won his last two races in. Unterberg is a real credit to Laura Hourigan and was a ready winner over an extended 10 furlongs last week, so has to rate a threat. Tyraxes receives a fair bit of weight from Voice Of Reason and is entitled to respect on the back of two runner-up finishes. He is lightly raced and open to more progression. Trishuli River is another eyeing a cheque.

Preference is for the handicap debutant TYRAXES on the back of a couple of decent maiden runs here

(5) (10/3 +26%)Eighty Eight |
10/3(+26%) | (5) Eighty Eight 10/3, Returned to form but probably hit the front a bit too soon when beaten 1/2l off this mark here last time. Effective at 10-12f and well treated if building on that revival. Recent C&D third off much reduced mark; one to consider off unchanged mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +22%)Marians Gal |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Marians Gal 7/2, Ran to form in first-time cheekpieces when beaten 3l off this mark here last time. Effective at 10-12f; in form and has a good chance. Couple of decent runs of late off this mark and should again be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (5/1 +0%)Doctor Grace |
5/1(+0%) | (1) Doctor Grace 5/1, Ran to form when beaten a neck off this mark here last time; top course trainer. Effective at 10-13f and on a fair mark if building on that latest effort. Back to form when narrowly beaten over C&D last month; same mark so has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/2 -10%)Storm Eric |
11/2(-10%) | (4) Storm Eric 11/2, Ran to form when beaten 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here last time. Effective at 8-10f and back in form. Good C&D second last month; 3lb higher but 7lb claimer now booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (15/2 +6%)Aingeal Dorcha |
15/2(+6%) | (8) Aingeal Dorcha 15/2, Below form up in grade when beaten 3 1/4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time. Effective at 9-11f; inconsistent of late. Narrowly beaten over C&D off this mark in December; needs to improve on last month's run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (11/1 -10%)Hale Bopp |
11/1(-10%) | (10) Hale Bopp 11/1, Had too much to do after meeting trouble but ran to form when beaten 3l off this mark here last time. Effective at 8-10f and could build on that recent revival up in trip. Rare run over this trip last month augurs well; can go well from a good draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (12/1 -9%)My Vonnie |
12/1(-9%) | (9) My Vonnie 12/1, Below form in first-time blinkers when beaten 8l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 8-12f, best at 12f; blinkers now tried back up in distance. Maiden's best form is at 1m4f; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (14/1 +0%)Not Even Maybe |
14/1(+0%) | (12) Not Even Maybe 14/1, Ran to form when beaten 6l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 8-11f; exposed maiden. 9lb out of handicap on latest so that run excused; runs off correct mark here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (16/1 -14%)Imperial Fighter |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Imperial Fighter 16/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 5l, in a claimer here last time; trainer in form. Effective at 7-9f and suited by all-weather; formerly Group 1 placed but has dropped markedly in the weights for a reason. Good second over 1m off this mark; doesn't appear an obvious improver at this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(13) (20/1 +0%)Cowzer Soze |
20/1(+0%) | (13) Cowzer Soze 20/1, Did too much too soon down in trip when down the field in a handicap here last time; cheekpieces first time. Looks on a stiff mark. Didn't seem to stay 1m4f latest; cheekpieces now tried and back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (28/1 -100%)Barretstown |
28/1(-100%) | (7) Barretstown 28/1, Ran to form when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap here last time; enjoys making it. Effective at 10-11f; unreliable but capable. Improvement needed on recent runs but down to an okay mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (33/1 -50%)Hasten Slowly |
33/1(-50%) | (6) Hasten Slowly 33/1, Needed the run when down the field in a claimer here last time. Effective at 10-12f on all-weather but out of form since returning from hurdling. Entitled to come on for last month's comeback run but hard to be totally confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(14) (50/1 -52%)Bright Night |
50/1(-52%) | (14) Bright Night 50/1, Did too much too soon in first-time blinkers when beaten 7l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 10f and bred to be a stayer; yet to show much. Opening handicap efforts none too encouraging; down 8lb to basement mark but hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (66/1 -164%)Hell Left Loose |
66/1(-164%) | (11) Hell Left Loose 66/1, Scored by a short-head off a 3lb higher mark here in November but continued in poor form when 12th, beaten 10l off 45, last time and now 2lb lower. Effective at 6-8f; back below last winning mark but needs more. Won here in November over 1m; well held of late though and now steps up in trip. |

STORM ERIC is on an appealing mark with Adam Grant's 7lb claim factored in. The seven-year-old has been getting closer to another victory in posting two placed efforts in January, including when second over this trip on his latest outing. Not Even Maybe is lowly rated, but hasn't performed badly in her last couple of starts over C&D (fourth and sixth) and could outrun her odds. Doctor Grace was beaten a neck over track and trip at the end of last month and will be gunning for her fifth career success. Marians Gal and Eighty Eight look the pick of the remainder.

Although yet to win over this far HALE BOPP came home strongly over this distance here last month and gets the nod

(2) (11/8 +27%)Arrietty |
11/8(+27%) | (2) Arrietty 11/8, Had every chance, stayed 10f and probably ran to form when second, beaten 1/2l in a maiden here last time; effective over 1m and stays 10f well; looks a consistent sort. Recent C&D maiden second; could still has more to offer so could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/2 +0%)Dawn Flame |
5/2(+0%) | (5) Dawn Flame 5/2, Best run so far came on his second start off a break when winning a handicap here by 1/2l last time; trainer in form; effective over 1m and still open to improvement. Off the mark in low-grade handicap here last month; gelded since and upped in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (4/1 +0%)So Must I |
4/1(+0%) | (3) So Must I 4/1, Produced her best run to date when beaten 2l in a maiden here last time; effective over 7f, and further should suit better; looks the type to progress again. Recent maiden runs here over shorter suggest this longer trip could suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (5/1 +29%)Divelment |
5/1(+29%) | (4) Divelment 5/1, Probably improved a bit on handicap form when stepped up in trip in a tongue-tie, finishing 4l third in a maiden here on his most recent run; cheekpieces on for the first time; generally consistent. Closely matched with Arrietty on recent C&D maiden form; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (16/1 -191%)Miami Destination |
16/1(-191%) | (1) Miami Destination 16/1, Did not stay the longer trip on handicap debut off a break when beaten 5 1/4l in a handicap here last time; probably wants 6/7f, and her Group form likely flatters. Highly-tried 2yo; last month's return to action here (1m) didn't offer much. |

ARRIETTY came home nicely in a maiden over C&D last month and was clear of the third so has every chance of going one better. Dawn Flame sprang an 18/1 surprise in a handicap over 1m and tries this trip for the first time. His half-sister won over 10 furlongs at Lingfield last year, which bodes well. Miami Destination is the highest rated in the line-up and kept good company in sprints as a juvenile. She was behind Dawn Flame in fifth here and also tries a new distance. Divelment and So Must I can't be ruled out in what could become a tactical affair.

A modest enough affair and perhaps an opportunity for ARRIETTY (nap) to go one better than here last month
Ths is the racecard key.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
