|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (15/2 -125%)This Guy |
15/2(-125%) | (4) This Guy 15/2, Switched back to cheekpieces but unwilling under pressure when beaten 6l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; effective at 5/6f, acts on good to firm and AW, goes well off the front; could bounce back. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 -115%)Only Spoofing |
14/1(-115%) | (7) Only Spoofing 14/1, Step back in right direction on return from a break beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; suited by sharp 5f, acts on most ground; not the force of old but capable off current rating. |PU| (10) (125/1 -150%)Mina Bonita |
125/1(-150%) | (10) Mina Bonita 125/1, Poor effort possibly not staying when down the field in a maiden here most recent; off a short-break; suited by 5f, acts on a sound surface; good bit to prove now. Promise in opening runs but way below that in two recent starts; 8lb wrong for h'cap debut. |

ARCTIC STEPS is ideally suited by this C&D and contests a winnable handicap. Out of a sister to stallion Coulsty, the four-year-old has changed hands a few times and is with her fifth trainer, but she continues to show form and should compete from 3lb higher than when finishing a short-head second here last month. This Guy is an 11-race maiden but has been running well, while both Jampa Ling and Bye Bye Now have form in recent ordinary maidens and drop in trip.

BOLD OPTIMIST ran well over C&D under Ben Coen in February and is now 11lb lower than his last success. Arctic Steps is dangerous.

(10) (16/1 -78%)Oxford Circus |
16/1(-78%) | (10) Oxford Circus 16/1, Improved and looked to want further when winning a maiden here by a short-head last time; effective 6/7f, acts on AW; could be more to come now handicapping. Off the mark at third attempt in C&D maiden last time; handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (20/1 +29%)Alfred Tennyson |
20/1(+29%) | (8) Alfred Tennyson 20/1, Ran well for a long way but did too much too soon and set it up for closer when beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark here last time; effective 6/7f, acts on good and AW; ex-Ballydoyle, looking flattered by maiden win but running into form as mark decreases. 7f Limerick m'den winner for Aidan O'Brien; not matched that in 4 runs for this yard. |

INISHFALLEN has been mildly frustrating recently, but should be able to win from his current rating. Group 3-placed as a juvenile, he was an able handicapper in the UK last year and although he has failed to win in four course runs, he has shown form and will be suited by reverting to this distance, having also dropped to a career-low mark. All of I'm Spartacus' six wins have come at this distance and he should compete, despite being 5lb higher than when scoring earlier this month. Oxford Circus steps out of maiden company, while Mehman has been running consistently well.

The consistent MEHMAN was runner-up over 7f last time after being caught wide. Return to this trip can help him gain a fifth course win

14/1(+50%) | (9) Jamestown 14/1, 28,000 euros Ulysses colt; half-brother to Bragbor, useful at 10f; this one might need the debut experience and longer trips before long. Half-brother to winners who stayed further than this, likely to need experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (100/1 -100%)Artsman |
100/1(-100%) | (2) Artsman 100/1, Starman gelding; half-brother to Group 3 winner Hamza, best at 5f; interesting on breeding and at least worth a market check. Half-brother to winners notably 6f Group 3 scorer Hamza, high-class sprinters in pedigree. |

250/1(-150%) | (12) Perggosa 250/1, Tired badly late on when well beaten in a maiden here; off a short-break; speed sire's side, stamina on dam's side; hard to make a case for on debut evidence. 66-1 when in rear over C&D in December, can be ruled out. |

COUNTY CARLOW has a wide draw and has already been gelded, but he has a smart pedigree and should go well on his introduction. Out of a Listed-placed mare, he is a brother to a Group 3 winner and a half-brother to a Listed winner, and was purchased for 170,000gns as a yearling. Glitter And Glory is a seven-race maiden, but she has nice form and is sure to run her race. Call The Cavalry and Egyptian Pharaoh have shown ability in maidens, while debutant Jamestown is a half-brother to three winners.

Those with form could be vulnerable to an above-average newcomer. COUNTY CARLOW, whose trainer won this last year, may fit the bill

WELLWHATSHAPPENIN hasn't raced since December, but showed nice form and can continue to improve as a progressive four-year-old. He scored over C&D in October and while beaten by Bucky Larson last time, he is 6lb better off. He is closely matched with Distillate and Alex Belardo on November and December meetings respectively, and both those rivals have run well recently. Amemri is out of form, but she is a five-time track-and-trip winner whose rating continues to fall. The maiden Desert Of The Sea is drawn wide, but he has useful form from his low rating.

Several of the most interesting runners on recent form are drawn high, and RIVER DERWENT is a hopeful choice from the ten berth

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (33/1 -50%)Elora Prince |
33/1(-50%) | (8) Elora Prince 33/1, Probably needed the race off a break and eased down the field in a handicap here most recent; effective 7f, better runs with give; no real reliable form. Soundly beaten all four nursery runs, down the field behind Iff In Doubt three weeks ago.. |

BRAVE APPROACH scored narrowly at big odds over C&D last week and has been raised just 3lb. A sister to the Group 3-placed Bold Approach, her success came following a 135-day break and she can progress a little more. Ramair showed improvement to finish third in that recent race and can also figure. Iff In Doubt, out of a half-sister to Group 2 winner Miss Amulet, has slightly stronger form and won here last month but steps up to a mile for the first time. Pliny finished second in a recent claimer.

Colin Keane sticks with PLINY (nap), a big market drifter when second in a claimer here two weeks ago. This extra furlong should suit

(11) (50/1 -25%)Selective Power |
50/1(-25%) | (11) Selective Power 50/1, Didn't get home, below form down the field in a handicap here most recent; off a short-break; effective 7/8f, acts on soft, good and AW; drop in trip may help. Four-time winner has never won from a mark this high; this trip looks more suitable. |

OHAILBHIC tried a mile for just the second time when winning here and might defy a 6lb rise. Initially rated 84 as a three-year-old, his mark dipped to 66 when scoring last week and he remains a little unexposed at this distance. Neo Smart won recently over C&D and has a good all-weather record so should also compete, despite being 5lb higher. Five-time winner Una Matata would ideally prefer 7f but scored recently, while maiden winner Ben Lawers has plenty of weight.

Dual C&D winner OCEAN MANIFEST was raised just 3lb for his win but was pestered for the lead last time. He's worth another go

20/1(-167%) | (7) Benavente 20/1, Ran to form but outclassed by winner when 10l third in a claimer here most recent run; top course jockey; effective 8-12f, best on AW; generally in good form and can go well back in a handicap. Generally reliable performer at this venue, closely matched with Danonethatgotaway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (25/1 +11%)Church Mountain |
25/1(+11%) | (9) Church Mountain 25/1, Again below form when eighth beaten 8l off 64 last time, 1lb lower here; effective 8-12f, acts on soft, good and AW; inconsistent of late. C&D winner in January, struggling lately, held by Voice Of Reason and Daonethatgotaway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (28/1 +0%)Pepper Noir |
28/1(+0%) | (8) Pepper Noir 28/1, Yard won this last year; below form well beaten in a handicap here latest; effective 10-12f, acts on good, suited by AW; bounce back needed. Twice a C&D winner, dropped away after making the running in race won by Drucker on latest. |

DRUCKER is a hopeful pick to continue his good recent form in this competitive handicap. He has been running consistently well here this winter and although raised 3lb for finishing third a fortnight ago, he could be better suited by reverting to this distance and has a fine all-weather record. Unterberg has progressed very well and has defeated Voice Of Reason and Daonethatgotaway in recent outings so must be feared.

This looks open but BEAUPARC may have been fortunate to get away with a 7lb rise for last week's win and can go in again

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (22/1 -57%)Jawhary |
22/1(-57%) | (12) Jawhary 22/1, Ran to form back in a handicap sixth beaten 5 1/4l off 55 last time, 1lb lower here; top course trainer; effective 10-12f, acts on AW; back in form and fair mark. Two course wins over 1m4f recently after long lean spell; fair sixth latest. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(13) (66/1 -100%)Tara Power |
66/1(-100%) | (13) Tara Power 66/1, Eased late when beaten down the field in a handicap here most recent; returning from a break; effective 10-12f, suited by AW; below last winning mark but form has tailed off. Dual course winner had a moderate run here in Dec'; 6lb wrong and others preferred. |

The eight-year-old AINGEAL DORCHA is a late-comer to all-weather racing, but has taken really well to it and might defy a 10lb hike for winning easily last week. Ideally suited by this C&D, he brushed aside Storm Eric and is again ridden by his 7lb claimer. Autocrat won a course claimer in January and although penalised 9lb for that success, he was rated 80 just last March. Limestone Red has useful recent form and should compete.

Preference is given to STORM ERIC/ who has been consistent here since the turn of the year and may get his turn.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
