Wears a tongue-tie for the first time; effective from 2m to 2m5f and acts on any going. Type to do better chasing. Shaped with promise in beginners' this winter; drop in trip on soft a plus; tongue-tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (40/1 +0%)Giant Haystacks |
40/1(+0%) | (2) Giant Haystacks 40/1, Travelled well but challenged too soon off a strong pace when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown most recently. Suited by around 2m4f, acts on yielding and good ground; others look stronger now chasing. Chasing debutant will need to find plenty to get involved; prefers decent ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (6/1 +57%)The Store Boy |
6/1(+57%) | (9) The Store Boy 6/1, Bit free and tired late but ran to form on handicap debut when beaten 5 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (11) (9/2 +18%)Union Station |
9/2(+18%) | (11) Union Station 9/2, Yard won this last year. Travelled well but was outlasted by a strong stayer when second, beaten 3/4l, in a handicap chase at Leopardstown latest. Wears cheekpieces first time; suited by 3m+; consistent but frustrating, dropping markedly in trip. Maiden's best form is over much further; must be respected but will find this sharp enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (12) (11/1 +31%)Swing Davis |
11/1(+31%) | (12) Swing Davis 11/1, Pulled up in a beginners' chase at Down Royal latest; effective at 2m-2m4f with cut; was promising over hurdles and can surely do better. Jumping issues evident on return/chase bow when pulled up at Down Royal last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 +39%)Sonny May |
20/1(+39%) | (6) Sonny May 20/1, Needed the run on chase debut when down the field in a beginners' chase at Clonmel last time. Effective at 2m and handles ground with cut; may need more time over fences. First run since April when never a factor at Clonmel last month on chase bow; can improve. |

CORAL RIVER squeezes into today's race with a hurdling rating of 120 and has good chase form. Placed third in a series final at Punchestown last April, the selection bounced back with two useful chase runs at that course in recent months and has plenty in his favour. Union Station ran well at Leopardstown over Christmas but drops markedly in distance, while Torquay Road ran well at Down Royal but would prefer a sounder surface. Seven months separated Strutter's two most recent wins and the seven-year-old now has a 384-day absence to overcome on chase debut.

Current form, trip, ground and a touch of class over the others should see CORAL RIVER gain a first win over fences at the 3rd attempt

No promise yet over fences; market should be informative on handicap bow for yard in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

33/1(+0%) | (12) Duffys Getaway 33/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 3m and suited by testing ground; currently out of form. Chasing career hasn't gone to plan and was pulled up over hurdles at Limerick last month. |

33/1(+18%) | (8) Rockstown Girl 33/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f; inconsistent and others stronger back over fences. Been struggling over both codes this season; needs to find her form again; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (22/1 +33%)Don't Talk |
22/1(+33%) | (4) Don't Talk 22/1, Outpaced and well held when down the field in a handicap chase at Punchestown last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on heavy and good ground; chase mark looks stiff and remains unreliable. Huge improvement needed but tends to come alive around this time of the season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (6/1 +0%)One And Only |
6/1(+0%) | (13) One And Only 6/1, Improved despite a bad mistake late when 6 1/4l third in a handicap chase at Limerick last time; effective from 2m4f to 2m7f, acts on soft and good ground; has more to come as a chaser. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (25/1 +0%)Speakasyoufind |
25/1(+0%) | (15) Speakasyoufind 25/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f with cut; has a bit to prove on chase debut. Soundly beaten in 7 starts over hurdles; capable of better now sent chasing; watch market. |

MIDLETON RARE debuts over fences but has plenty of jumping experience and scored here on New Year's Day. Despite an 8lb rise from the handicapper, he might progress some more. Ag Obair Go Crua has improved in recent months and can enter calculations following his win at Tramore last time. One And Only's sole success came over hurdles in 2024 but he ran well at Limerick over Christmas and could build on that display.

MIDLETON RARE landed a gamble here over hurdles on New Year's Day and he will be hard to beat if he can transfer that form to fences

1st (5) (7/1 +7%)Welluknow |
7/1(+7%) | (5) Welluknow 7/1, Far too free when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time but had been in good form prior. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on heavy and yielding ground; needs to settle better. Won 2m Gowran novice handicap in November, finished behind Nelson Muntz at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -5%)Heron's Butler |
7/2(-5%) | (3) Heron's Butler 7/2, Improved when second beaten 1 1/4l in a novice hurdle at Thurles last time. Returns from a short break. Effective from 2m to 2m7f and acts on yielding and good ground; progressive and the drop in trip should suit. Appears to have a definite edge over Nelson Muntz on running at Thurles, merits respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +0%)Nelson Muntz |
5/1(+0%) | (2) Nelson Muntz 5/1, A bit keen and given far too much to do, finishing full of running when fourth beaten 2l in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f, acts on heavy and good ground; could gain compensation. Seems held by Heron's Butler on Thurles running, better run in a handicap last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/2 +17%)Coyote Spirit |
5/2(+17%) | (1) Coyote Spirit 5/2, Yard won this last year. Conceded first run to the front pair and ran to form up in trip when a 4l third in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on any ground; progressing. Handicap rating seems a fair reflection of his ability judged on 4l third at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/8 +45%)Sticwiththeprocess |
11/8(+45%) | (4) Sticwiththeprocess 11/8, Outpaced but ran to form and looked in need of a stiffer test when 10l third in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts with cut; has more to come in handicaps. Course winner over 2m, this trip not a problem, stable had a winner on Monday. |

STICWITHTHEPROCESS has been running well and is suited by conditions. The selection's initial form was ordinary but last season showed progression in handicaps and scored at today's venue in November. He was well enough held in third at Punchestown on his latest start but he is capable of further improvement. Coyote Spirit ran well on handicap debut at Leopardstown over Christmas and commands plenty of respect. Heron's Butler appears best of the remainder following his second at Thurles in November.

A tentative vote goes to the locally trained HERON'S BUTLER in a tricky affair

ROC DINO showed ability in France last season and debuts for leading connections in a winnable maiden. The selection finished second at Pau on his second start and was beaten into third by two subsequently Listed-placed rivals in Auteuil last February and this appeals as a suitable opportunity to strike. Puma's Dream showed promise on his second start at Naas last month, while Premier Rouge can benefit from his jumps debut at Thurles.

Willie Mullins has the real unknown quantity in this maiden and French recruit ROC DINO can open his account on stable/Irish debut

NOEMIE DE LA VIS can make a winning start for Willie Mullins. The French-bred filly was runner-up on her sole start at Compiegne last April. The winner has since placed in Listed company, while she also had a Listed winner back in fourth that day. Point-to-point winner Sound Judgement ran a solid race when third on her Rules debut at Punchestown and should benefit from stepping up in trip. Dee's Lady may improve from her comeback run and is a player on the pick of her form last season.

15/8(+0%) | (2) Needs Must 15/8, Ran to form, late gains from off the pace well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Naas latest; effective 2m-2m3f, acts on HY, G; more to come, maybe when handicapping. Showed a degree of promise in a 2m3f Naas maiden won by a stablemate, definite chance now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/4 +22%)Pat's Legacy |
7/4(+22%) | (4) Pat's Legacy 7/4, Improved dropped in trip, albeit comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on soft to heavy, yielding; should improve again. Has run creditably in two maidens of a much higher standard than this, strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

18/1(-13%) | (5) Rough 'n' Smooth 18/1, Showed improvement though well beaten in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective from 2m3f to 2m4f with cut in the ground; type to do better once handicapping. Not a bad effort in midfield over C&D two weeks ago, worth a look with handicaps in mind. |

40/1(-100%) | (8) Under Cover 40/1, Outclassed when well beaten in a novice hurdle at Cork last time; effective over 2m and could progress with a step up in distance. Last of seven at Cork, previously had plenty of horses behind him at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (9/2 +0%)Somersby Roost |
9/2(+0%) | (14) Somersby Roost 9/2, Too keen but again ran to a modest level when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f with cut in the ground; needs to settle better. Moderate fifth of 16 at Naas, got a bit closer when sixth at Down Royal, place chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (33/1 +34%)Walk In The Clouds |
33/1(+34%) | (15) Walk In The Clouds 33/1, Again ran to a moderate level when down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time; could have more of a chance when handicapping. Won a two-finisher maiden point, no sign of worthwhile form in three maiden hurdle starts. |

28/1(-40%) | (11) Ersudaly 28/1, Below form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle here last time; effective over 2m5f on soft ground; type to do better once handicapping. Point winner, no impact in maiden hurdles over 2m5f at Tramore and 3m at this venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

33/1(+0%) | (3) No Hard Feelings 33/1, Made a modest debut when well beaten in an auction hurdle at Limerick last time; effective over 2m3f with cut in the ground; should progress in this weaker contest. Weak form in three points and two racecourse attempts, makes no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (15/2 +63%)Sacramental |
15/2(+63%) | (6) Sacramental 15/2, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time when returning from a long layoff; yet to show any worthwhile ability over hurdles. One-time 95,000euros foal purchase, two maiden hurdle runs last March were poor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (66/1 -32%)Cry Before Dawn |
66/1(-32%) | (10) Cry Before Dawn 66/1, Ran to a similar level as on debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time; needs to find improvement. Made some late progress at Clonmel, jumped poorly and never involved at Limerick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (9) (80/1 -60%)Clash Gold |
80/1(-60%) | (9) Clash Gold 80/1, Produced a moderate debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle here last time; usually held up and may require more time to develop. Eighth of 16 behind Bambino Fever last season, tailed off in two outings this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (13) (80/1 -21%)Magic Hands Noel |
80/1(-21%) | (13) Magic Hands Noel 80/1, Showed little when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Naas last time; usually held up and looks one for much further down the line. Huge price in three maiden hurdle outings in November/December, has run accordingly. |

PAT'S LEGACY has run with credit in a couple of strong maiden hurdles and looks up to scoring at this level. The Walk In The Park gelding finished fifth behind Murat at Leopardstown over Christmas and this looks a much easier opportunity. Needs Must has a mark of 108 after three runs in better contests and he should be a big player in this company. Point-to-point winner Somersby Roost is another to consider.

Only a few of these make any appeal and PAT'S LEGACY will be hard to beat, seeing that he held his own in a strong maiden last time

Returns from a short break; effective from 2m to 3m on a sound surface and holds a chance on that latest effort. Makes some appeal based on an improved display over a longer trip at Down Royal in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (7/1 +61%)Shanroe Nelson |
7/1(+61%) | (9) Shanroe Nelson 7/1, Found little and the race may have come too soon when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f but has yet to prove competitive off this mark. Beaten almost 40l when sixth over C&D last month so plenty of improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(+20%) | (4) Driveonwill 8/1, Needed the run when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m and suited by cut in the ground; this return to a longer trip may suit. Two fourth placings last season, has failed to run to market expectations this term. |

Up in trip and didn't stay on testing ground when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m but has been out of form for some time. Getting on in years, still a maiden, well held by Yoursimplythebest on Punchestown running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (22/1 -10%)Knocknagoran Lady |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (66/1 -32%)Three County Star |
66/1(-32%) | (10) Three County Star 66/1, Took a step back in the right direction when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective from 2m to 2m3f on any ground but needs to improve. Huge price when in rear at Punchestown on handicap debut, well beaten in a maiden since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

50/1(+0%) | (5) Falcon Park 50/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here last time. Wears a visor for the first time; usually held up and suited by 2m with some cut. The handicapper is easing his mark but he remains out of form. Has been struggling to find his best form since joining this yard, pulled up on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (40/1 +20%)Danesfort Mayfly |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Danesfort Mayfly 40/1, Made too much use of when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective at around 2m5f and suited by soft ground, but her mark demands more. Won at Tramore on final start in 2024, off for a year before two poor runs last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (6/1 +14%)My Good Pal |
6/1(+14%) | (3) My Good Pal 6/1, Ran to form, just flattening out late after doing plenty early when 16l third in a handicap hurdle here last time. Effective from 2m4f to 2m6f on any ground and generally in good form. Placed for this rider on his last three starts, yard's current form is a source of concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (15) (18/1 -50%)Ladyeze Man |
18/1(-50%) | (15) Ladyeze Man 18/1, Took a step back in the right direction when 10l third in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective around 2m4f with cut in the ground but still needs to find more. Placed for only the second time when third at Limerick, well exposed at this stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (11/2 +8%)Yoursimplythebest |
11/2(+8%) | (14) Yoursimplythebest 11/2, Ran to form when beaten 2l off a 2lb lower mark at Punchestown last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m on any ground and appears to be improving at a modest level. Will not need to improve much from Punchestown second to record a breakthrough win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (16/1 +0%)Blossom De Mai |
16/1(+0%) | (13) Blossom De Mai 16/1, From a yard that won this race last year; ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Tramore last time. Effective from 2m4f to 3m on any ground and could go well again. Has a modest strike-rate, two less inspiring displays since third at the Listowel festival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -40%)Donnrua Dream |
28/1(-40%) | (6) Donnrua Dream 28/1, Made mistakes and ran poorly when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Prefers plenty of cut in the ground but appears regressive at present. 2-14 over hurdles, last success was in March 2022, no signs of ending the drought. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (66/1 -32%)Clever Court |
66/1(-32%) | (11) Clever Court 66/1, From a yard that won this race last year; pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective from 2m to 2m4f but has yet to prove capable off this mark. No sign of winning potential yet, among the outsiders when pulled up at Limerick last time. |

BLUE REED wouldn't be winning out of turn here. He bumped into an unexposed type at Punchestown on New Year's Eve and, despite a 4lb rise for that effort, he's capable of going close. Stepping back up in trip now may help as he was runner-up twice over this distance last season. My Good Pal has been knocking on the door and remains on the same mark as when third over course and distance last month. The lowly-rated Yoursimplythebest has also been running consistently and is another that has to be considered.

Placed on her final three starts in 2025, YOURSIMPLYTHEBEST (nap) gets the vote on the strength of last month's Punchestown second

11/1(+8%) | (16) Shanroe Act 11/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Cork last time; effective at 3m and acts on heavy; a maiden looking exposed. Lost his chance when hampered four out at Cork, should not be judged too harshly on that. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 +20%)Back To Cali |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Back To Cali 4/1, Finished 7l third in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal most recently; likely to need further than 2m in time and probably one for longer-distance handicaps. Third at Down Royal and could be a big player now along with fourth-placed Give Her Hollie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (10/1 +55%)Glens Sensation |
10/1(+55%) | (7) Glens Sensation 10/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good ground; currently in poor form. Little worthwhile form, appears well held by Wakey Wakey Man on running at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 -32%)Ballinearla Girl |
33/1(-32%) | (6) Ballinearla Girl 33/1, Down the field in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal last time; effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on good ground; still early days and could bounce back. Towards the rear in a Down Royal race when Back To Cali and Give Her Hollie made the frame. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (17) (5/1 +33%)Warmer Days Ahead |
5/1(+33%) | (17) Warmer Days Ahead 5/1, Ran to form but unsuited by a drop in trip when beaten 6l in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft or good; steadily progressive but prefers further. Made pleasing seasonal debut at Punchestown, Limerick run was satisfactory; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

40/1(-21%) | (5) True Destiny 40/1, Unsuited by testing ground when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel most recently; effective from 2m4f to 3m and acts on soft or good; tricky to win with. Minor placed form last May/June at Downpatrick and Perth, in rear in more recent races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (4/1 -14%)Great Island |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Great Island 4/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 6lb lower mark at Clonmel penultimate start; ran to form, just flattening out late when up in trip last time, 1lb higher here; effective at 2m4f, acts with cut and can go well again. Went up 5lb for a Clonmel win early last month, gave another solid display at Limerick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (6/1 +67%)Doyen Wolf |
6/1(+67%) | (11) Doyen Wolf 6/1, Poorly placed but never threatened when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Cork most recently; usually held up; effective at 2m4f with cut but yet to show much or prove up to this mark. Has done very little racing for a horse of his age, some merit in his penultimate run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (10/1 +38%)Kinturk Maggie |
10/1(+38%) | (8) Kinturk Maggie 10/1, Made too much use of and needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown most recently; off a short break; effective from 2m to 2m4f with cut but struggling in handicaps. Hints of ability in three maiden hurdles, weak form in four handicaps, plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (10/1 -25%)Give Her Hollie |
10/1(-25%) | (15) Give Her Hollie 10/1, Ran to form tried in blinkers when fourth beaten 7 1/2l in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal last time; effective around 2m on a sound surface; can go well up in trip. Notable form when fourth in a 20-runner contest at Down Royal, 0.5l behind Back To Cali. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (22/1 -83%)Not So Proper |
22/1(-83%) | (12) Not So Proper 22/1, Disappointing on handicap debut when down the field at Punchestown last time; trainer in form; absent for a very lengthy period but surely capable of better at some stage. Showed next to nothing in five starts in 2022, must have shown something to earn a return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (25/1 +24%)Thehardandthewild |
25/1(+24%) | (13) Thehardandthewild 25/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Cork last time; effective around 2m and acts with cut; needs to bounce back. Struggled in a handicap at Navan on seasonal debut, pulled up at Cork, up against it. |

Probably the weaker of the two divisions and GREAT ISLAND may be able to strike again. The Ocovango gelding won on his penultimate start at Clonmel and ran a solid race when fourth at Limerick last time off a 1lb lower mark. Back To Cali was a solid enough third at Down Royal last time and could be a danger here off just 1lb higher. Give Her Hollie was only a length off Back To Cali last time and is entitled to play a big role.

This could hinge on the outcome of a renewal of Down Royal rivalry. Slight preference is for GIVE HER HOLLIE over Back To Cali
Ths is the racecard key.
