300/1(-50%) | (1) Areema Dreamer 300/1, Poor debut well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal only start; returning from a break; all to prove. Three-figure odds when in rear in a 2m4f maiden at Down Royal on his only start. |

Former leading bumper performer COLCANNON can make the breakthrough over hurdles. Runner-up on his jumping debut at Punchestown in November, the Noel Meade-trained gelding shaped with promise on two subsequent starts. With the benefit of that experience, he should have too much for these rivals. Henry de Bromhead's lightly-raced Splendid Fellow rates the biggest danger. Second at Cork in December, the form of that race received a boost when the winner scored in Grade 2 company on his next start. Newbrook Diamond has been largely consistent since switched to hurdles and perhaps the application of first-time blinkers can help eke out further improvement.

The vote goes to SPLENDID FELLOW who was second to smart type at Cork. The obvious dangers are Colcannon and Newbrook Diamond

With cheekpieces retained and a tongue-tie added, the Ted Walsh-trained STICWITHTHEPROCESS can land a second course success. Off the mark here in a maiden hurdle in November, the son of Blue Bresil gave the impression that he had more to offer. Far from disgraced when third at Punchestown subsequently, the six-year-old can be forgiven a below-par run in a messy race at this venue on his latest start. C&D winner Don Jefe could prove to be nicely treated off an initial mark of 113. The five-year-old had shown promise on his previous outing at Cork and came forward from that to win readily. Fellow handicap debutant Frankie's Freebie could also run well.

The way in which ROYAL SOLDIER powered clear in the closing stages at Gowran suggests he should relish this longer trip

Smart performer in bumpers; good overall hurdles form except for one run when too keen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Having been forced to miss Cheltenham, the Willie Mullins-trained LEADER D'ALLIER can get his season back on track. A five-time winner in his native France, the gelding finished second on his Irish debut over Christmas at a time when the stable wasn't firing on all cylinders. An impressive scorer at Punchestown next time, the five-year-old was fancied for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle before being forced to skip that race. Stablemate Too Bossy For Us might put it up to the selection. A 90-rated horse on the Flat, he ran well when sixth in the Supreme. Blake can make his presence felt if first-time cheekpieces eke out further improvement.

Several of these have more jumping experience than LEADER D'ALLIER, but he has the potential to win a race of this standard

Having valuable handicap experience, the Charles Byrnes-trained I STARTED A JOKE can make the most of the switch to novice company. Runner-up in a big field at the Dublin Racing Festival, the seven-year-old showed signs of greenness before staying on late. Fitted with first-time cheekpieces, he looks a leading contender. With Paul Townend in the saddle, He's On Fire appears the pick of the Willie Mullins sextet. An easy winner at Carlisle in February, it is hard to know just how good he could be. Saint Baco is not without his chance if none the worse for a Cheltenham fall.

Willie Mullins has 50% of the field but is opposed by the ex-Mullins trained KSAR FATAL who impressed at Punchestown

28/1(+58%) | (3) Blue Velvet 28/1, Yard won this last three runnings of race; down the field in Ryanair Mares' Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) at Cheltenham most recent where had no race after being badly hampered early; in good form prior; effective at 2m-2m3f with cut; latest win boosted, more to come for good yard. Things didn't go her way in Ryanair Mares' Novice; yard look the have stronger contenders. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

OLDSCHOOL OUTLAW can land a valuable pot in Gordon Elliott's quest for a first trainers' championship. Runner-up at Cheltenham last month, the Walk In The Park mare had a number of these rivals in behind. Almost certainly inconvenienced by the drop back in trip on that occasion, the six-year-old should relish this longer distance. A well-beaten second behind Oldschool Outlaw here in February, Place De La Nation got much closer last time. Another who enjoys a thorough test, she would have strong claims if this turned into a war of attrition. Zanoosh looks a gradual improver and could have yet more to offer.

Ryanair Mares' second Oldschool Outlaw may be usurped by the five-timer seeking ZANOOSH

13/2(+59%) | (5) Jalila Moriviere 13/2, Yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings of race; 6 1/4l third in Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase (Grade 3) at Thurles most recent run; effective 2m-2m2f, acts on any; do better over fences when settling. Didn't seem to stay 2m6f last time; entitled to improve and drop in trip may suit. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (16/1 -45%)Birdie Or Bust |
16/1(-45%) | (4) Birdie Or Bust 16/1, Improved again when second beaten 2 1/2l in BetVictor Novice Chase (Grade 3) at Punchestown latest; effective 2-2 1/2m, wants decent ground; steadily progressing and a big player if fit. 16/1(+0%) | (9) Anotherway 16/1, Below form on handicap debut well beaten in a handicap chase at Gowran Park latest; effective 2m, acts with cut; consistent since switch to fences until latest. Found wanting on handicap debut behind Jigoro at Gowran on heavy; opposable. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (6/1 -33%)Break My Soul |
6/1(-33%) | (1) Break My Soul 6/1, Improved back on good ground on handicap debut, did best of those racing fairly close to overly strong pace beaten 3/4l off a 1lb lower mark at Cheltenham last time; effective 2m, acts on any; thriving since move to this yard. Recent Gowran winner under today's rider; 5lb higher and this looks a much stronger race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

COME WALK WITH ME catches the eye towards the foot of the weights. His trainer Edward Cawley is one of the sponsors on this card and the seven-year-old will almost certainly have been campaigned with the meeting in mind. Runner-up at Leopardstown last month, the Walk In The Park gelding had run over hurdles on his previous start. With only the three runs over fences, he remains open to plenty of improvement and looks a serious contender. Shuffle The Deck is well handicapped over fences relative to his hurdles mark and has reached the frame on his latest two appearances. Break My Soul, who ran a huge race at the Cheltenham Festival, holds leading claims too.

Top-weight BREAK MY SOUL sets a good standard on her Grand Annual third and gets the vote

9/1(-38%) | (2) Jacob's Ladder 9/1, Ran to form when winning Flyingbolt Novice Chase (Grade 3) at Navan by 1 1/4l last time; effective 2-2 1/2m with cut; progressing over fences, worth step up in class but work to do to reverse form with Kappa Jy Pyke. Split Kappa JyPyke and Predators Gold at Punchestown, progressive in winning twice since. |

7th (7) (11/4 +8%)Sixmilebridge |
11/4(+8%) | (7) Sixmilebridge 11/4, Jumped boldly and given fine ride when winning Scilly Isles Novices' Chase (Grade 1) at Sandown by 5l last time; enjoys making it; off a short-break; effective 2 1/2m, acts on soft and good to soft; top class chaser, jumping an asset, more to come. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (16/1 -100%)Pure Steel |
16/1(-100%) | (6) Pure Steel 16/1, Improved back down in trip and class when winning a novice chase at Punchestown by 12l last time; effective 2m, acts with cut; hurdles form franked, progressive over fences and yard won this a couple of years ago with similar type. Bounced back from below-par run behind Kappa Jy Pyke with a 2m Punchestown win. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

A Grade 1 winner at Sandown in January, SIXMILEBRIDGE can take this valuable prize back across the Irish Sea. Unbeaten in three starts over fences, the Fergal O'Brien-trained gelding was a smart horse over hurdles last season. A front-runner who is proven on a right-handed track such as this, he has plenty in his favour if anywhere near his best form. Galway Plate winner Western Fold struggled at Cheltenham, but had earlier finished second in a Grade 1 at the DRF. An experienced campaigner, the Gordon Elliott-trained seven-year-old is more than capable of bouncing back. Kappa Jy Pyke looks the pick of the Willie Mullins trio.

It could pay to side with SIXMILEBRIDGE who defends an unbeaten chase record and is already a Grade 1 winner

Relegated Hunters Yarn to third at Dromahane, fair chance he can uphold that form now. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (22/1 -83%)Stuzzikini |
22/1(-83%) | (9) Stuzzikini 22/1, Ran to form when second beaten 8l in the Open Point at Oldtown latest; effective 3m, wants decent ground; former Troytown winner, not ruled out. Should show the benefit of a point-to-point run, smart staying handicap chaser at his best. |

12/1(+0%) | (1) Asphalt Cowboy 12/1, Ran to form 13l third in the Open Point at Ballycrystal most recent run; tongue-tie first time; off a short-break; effective 3m, acts on good; inconsistent. Two hunter chase wins at Downpatrick, needs to step up on recent points form to feature. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (17/2 +23%)Chemical Energy |
17/2(+23%) | (3) Chemical Energy 17/2, Never threatened when down the field in a hunter chase at Cheltenham most recent; effective 3m, wants sound surface; not the force of old, but outside claims down in class. Back-to-back point wins last autumn offer some hope, tailed off at Cheltenham. |

A late defection at Cheltenham, WRAPPEDUPINMAY can gain some form of compensation. The Sam Curling-trained gelding had been well touted for the Festival on the preview circuit, but was forced to miss out due to unsuitable ground. At his best with plenty of give, connections of the eight-year-old will be praying that the heavens open in the hours leading up to this race. A smart horse under Rules in his prime, Hunters Yarn has done little wrong in this sphere. Runner-up on his last two starts, he has to be respected. Big Interest has a bit to prove at this stage, but shouldn't be discounted.

Sam Curling is enjoying a terrific season in point-to-points and can take this with WRAPPEDUPINMAY (nap)
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
