(1) (5/4 +29%)Morning Mayhem |
5/4(+29%) | (1) Morning Mayhem 5/4, Scored by 7 1/2l off an 11lb lower mark at Uttoxeter three starts back; ran to form when third, beaten 3 1/4l off 98 last time and is 1lb higher here. Trainer in form; effective at 2m and acts on heavy and soft; can go well again. Again well backed at Wincanton last time and ran well to be third; 1lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (13/8 +7%)Character Testing |
13/8(+7%) | (3) Character Testing 13/8, Returned to form on his first completed start for the yard when beaten a head off a 3lb lower mark at Market Rasen last time. Effective at 2m on good to soft and good; still a maiden over hurdles but could build on that revival. Every chance on his second at Market Rasen; soft ground is the grey area. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (4/1 -14%)Risk It All |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Risk It All 4/1, Stopped quickly up in trip and may not have stayed when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Lingfield most recently. Effective at 2m and acts on good to soft; looking flattered by debut form but still on a fair mark based on penultimate run so strong claims down in trip. Ran okay in juvenile hurdles but hasn't kicked on following a wind operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (14/1 -27%)Alvesta |
14/1(-27%) | (5) Alvesta 14/1, Poor run when well beaten in a handicap at Southwell latest. Effective over 10-12f; a maiden who is looking exposed in both codes but does like the track. 0-28; tailed off here in December and that's flanked by heavy defeats on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (18/1 +36%)Noble Miss |
18/1(+36%) | (6) Noble Miss 18/1, Never threatened after a series of errors when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time; off a short break. A 2m bumper winner on good; looks in need of more hurdling experience and must settle and jump better. Won a bumper for Rae Guest but has no form claims on what she's achieved over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (20/1 0%)L'allier |
20/1(0%) | (4) L'allier 20/1, Below form and in need of the run when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter last time; off a short break. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good; needs to come on plenty for that return. At 16-1, he was struggling a long way out on stable debut at Uttoxeter (soft). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MORNING MAYHEM was a beaten favourite at Wincanton latest but can reward those who keep the faith, as he seems to have less on his plate and an impressive Uttoxeter victory in December remains fresh in the memory. He goes well on deep ground and gets the nod ahead of Character Testing, who performed well for second at Market Rasen. Risk It All is next best.

Character Testing is feared but ground this soft will be a first, so the most likely winner is an in-form MORNING MAYHEM.

(6) (6/4 +40%)Brother Boris |
6/4(+40%) | (6) Brother Boris 6/4, Made too much use of when beaten 8l into third in a handicap chase here most recent run. Effective at 2 1/2m and acts on good to soft and good. Inconsistent maiden. Third over 2m5f here on reappearance but he has a lot further to go this afternoon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (15/8 +32%)Animal |
15/8(+32%) | (1) Animal 15/8, Better effort off a reduced mark when beaten 6l into third in a handicap chase at Fontwell most recent run, benefiting from a pace collapse. Usually held up. Effective at 3m-3m5f and acts on soft and good. Fair mark if building on latest and wants a stiff test. On a career-low mark and three of his runs this season have been very respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (7/2 +36%)Edgewell |
7/2(+36%) | (5) Edgewell 7/2, Travelled better than recently when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Taunton last time. Trainer in form. Effective around 3m and acts on soft and good. Unreliable but a thorough stayer who is well treated on Irish form. Big chance if jumping holds up. Beaten about 15l in his last two runs at Taunton and can look a hard ride at times. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (7/1 +42%)Spotty Dog |
7/1(+42%) | (8) Spotty Dog 7/1, Taken on up front and made too much use of, lit up by first-time blinkers, when fourth beaten 22l in a handicap chase at Windsor latest. Effective at 3m+ and needs decent ground. Out of form this term. A remote third in this 12 months ago and nowhere near his best this campaign. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (10/1 +38%)Miss Fedora |
10/1(+38%) | (7) Miss Fedora 10/1, Hinted at revival when fourth beaten 9l in a handicap chase here latest. Effective at 2m1f and acts on soft and good. Unreliable and needs to build on that latest effort. Inconsistent and unraced beyond 2m5f; stamina doubts are too glaring to ignore. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Course scorer Animal is very much respected in here on the back of his Fontwell third, but the verdict goes to BROTHER BORIS. He shaped as though stepping up in trip would suit when finishing a staying-on third over 2m5f here last month and this could be the time to catch him. It's also worth keeping a close eye on Edgewell.

A few of these will be into unknown territory a long way from home but not ANIMAL (nap) who hasn't been running at all badly.

(4) (13/8 +19%)Ionian |
13/8(+19%) | (4) Ionian 13/8, Improved when allowed an easy lead in a first-time hood on testing ground, finishing second beaten 2l in a novice hurdle at Sandown latest. Trainer in form, effective over 2m and acts on heavy, and he should find a maiden. The hood made a difference when second to a talented opponent at Sandown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (2/1 +33%)The Boss Bear |
2/1(+33%) | (3) The Boss Bear 2/1, Made a promising debut when beating a more experienced rival to win a maiden hurdle at Plumpton by 3 1/2l last time. Returns from a short break, is effective over 2m-2 1/2m and acts on good to soft and good, with more to come over hurdles. Bumper winner on good and comfortably won a 2m4f Plumpton maiden on good to soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (3/1 +0%)Swingin Safari |
3/1(+0%) | (2) Swingin Safari 3/1, Outpaced and below form when 18l third in a novice hurdle at Kempton on his most recent run. Effective over 2m and acts on good to soft, while the form looks solid and he is likely to get further in time. Well held when penalised at Kempton but the winner is above average; bred for this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/2 -10%)Jury's In |
11/2(-10%) | (5) Jury's In 11/2, Improved from his debut under a positive ride when 14l third in a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las on his most recent run. Effective over 2m4f on soft, he is in form and has shown enough to win a maiden, and the yard does well here. Irish point winner who has run well in both his maiden hurdles; doesn't have a lot to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (8/1 -14%)No Cure |
8/1(-14%) | (1) No Cure 8/1, Bit free and made mistakes before improving to win a maiden hurdle at Limerick by 4l last time. Effective over 2 1/2m and acts on heavy, but the form of that Irish win looks weak and he needs more to defy a penalty. Joined this yard after winning a Limerick 2m3f maiden with authority in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (200/1 +0%)Porridge |
200/1(+0%) | (6) Porridge 200/1, Pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Ludlow on her latest start and now wears blinkers for the first time. Effective over 2m4f-2m7f on heavy and soft, but she remains well below a winning level. Exposed as a poor handicapper and instantly opposable in a race like this; tries blinkers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A competitive novices' hurdle for punters to solve and only a tentative vote goes the way of SWINGIN SAFARI. He didn't show his best at Kempton but is taken to bounce back judged on the strength of his Wincanton form, not to mention last season's strong bumper performances. Plumpton maiden hurdle winner The Boss Bear looks quite useful and joins Limerick scorer No Cure and improved Sandown runner-up Ionian on the shortlist.

Porridge won't be winning but the other five have chances. IONIAN took a notable step forward when hooded at Sandown.

(1) (11/10 +37%)Kalista Love |
11/10(+37%) | (1) Kalista Love 11/10, Scored by 3/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Warwick three starts ago. Ran to form when third, beaten 9 1/2l off 107, just flattening out late over a longer trip last time; 1lb lower here and effective at 2 1/2m so holds every chance down in class. 3m1f perhaps too far last time and had previously made a good start over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (2/1 +0%)Belle Montrose |
2/1(+0%) | (4) Belle Montrose 2/1, Returned to form when landing the Queen Boudicca Series Final by 1 1/2l off a 10lb lower mark here last time. Effective at 2m; inconsistent but has a good record at this course. Appreciated this longer trip when winning here a month ago despite being 6lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (3/1 +0%)Moviddy |
3/1(+0%) | (2) Moviddy 3/1, Returned to form back over fences when beaten 3l off this mark here last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and acts on good ground; on a good mark if building on that latest effort. Weighted to reverse last-time C&D placings with Belle Montrose; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/1 +22%)Jacks Touch |
7/1(+22%) | (3) Jacks Touch 7/1, Had every chance but was below form when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Tongue-tie applied for the first time; effective around 2 1/2m and needs to prove ability remains after a long lay-off. Struggled since returning from a break and was well behind two of these last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BELLE MONTROSE sprang a big shock to win at 40/1 over this C&D last month, which could in part be attributed to a step up in trip. Sam Drinkwater's mare is completely unexposed at this distance, so a 4lb rise is unlikely to halt further progress and she's preferred to the reopposing Moviddy (third). Jacks Touch was well held in fifth that day too, meaning Kalista Love ought to be a bigger threat.

Moviddy may reverse recent course placings with Belle Montrose on these 4lb better terms but KALISTA LOVE is preferred.

(4) (8/13 +0%)Stattler |
8/13(+0%) | (4) Stattler 8/13, Travelled well, went clear and was caught late as fitness gave way, a solid effort when second, beaten 3/4l, in a hunter chase at Hereford last time. Effective from 2m4f-3m6f, acts on soft and good; was classy and is unexposed in hunter chases. The one to beat. Classy customer at his peak; just missed out at Hereford after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +30%)Major Dundee |
7/2(+30%) | (3) Major Dundee 7/2, Modest effort when second, beaten 1 1/4l, in the Ladies Conditions Point at Charing last time; off a short break. Effective over 3m and acts on soft and good; former Midlands National winner could be a threat down in class. Lost his way for Alan King and a beaten favourite in his two recent points. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (7/1 -8%)Frere D'armes |
7/1(-8%) | (1) Frere D'armes 7/1, Unseated in a hunter chase at Ludlow last time; effective over 2-2 1/2m and wants a sound surface. Inconsistent nowadays but not dismissed down in class though slight stamina concerns. He was in better form when runner-up in this last year having won his previous race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (8/1 +43%)Fix At All |
8/1(+43%) | (2) Fix At All 8/1, Pulled up in a hunter chase at Cheltenham last time and is returning from a long layoff. Effective at 2 1/2m and acts on good to soft and good; his form tailed off last year. Looked a shadow of his former self in three hunter chases last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (11/1 +8%)Hollywood Harmon |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Hollywood Harmon 11/1, Improved for a comfortable 17l victory in a hunter chase at Cartmel last time and is returning from a long layoff. Effective over 2 1/2-3m and acts on good to soft and good; unexposed under rules, with more to come judged on point wins. It was a maiden hunter chase she won at Cartmel last May; looks outclassed here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The classy STATTLER was only reeled in late on when returning from a lengthy absence at Hereford last month but with that run under his belt, he is expected to go one better. Major Dundee has been running with credit between the flags of late and although more will be required, he is still the main danger. This is deeper than the contest Hollywood Harmon won at Cartmel in May of last year but she's most appealing of the remainder.

The worry for STATTLER is that after being absent for 653 days he now has two runs in 18, but he's still the safest option.

(3) (6/4 -9%)De Deli Counter |
6/4(-9%) | (3) De Deli Counter 6/4, Improved when allowed an easy lead and jumping much better, beaten 3/4l off this mark at Market Rasen last time where beaten by progressive rival. Effective at 2 1/2m and needs to build on that latest improvement. Could be tough to peg back at sharp track up in trip. Up in trip but 6lb higher in future after his clear second at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (2/1 +11%)Castanea Breeze |
2/1(+11%) | (1) Castanea Breeze 2/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off an 8lb lower mark at Market Rasen on his penultimate start; improved when second, beaten 3l off 87 last time, and is 3lb higher here. Suited by 3m, a bit quirky but open to improvement at staying trips. Has soon raised his game since upped in trip and could continue his progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (10/3 +0%)Apieceovfortune |
10/3(+0%) | (2) Apieceovfortune 10/3, Rallied gamely and improved when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark here last time. Effective over 2m4f-3m, steadily progressing and looks well treated up 2lb. Responded well for pressure to collect over C&D last month; just 2lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (8/1 +43%)Junior Des Mottes |
8/1(+43%) | (5) Junior Des Mottes 8/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Ffos Las on his latest start. Form in and out. Trainer in form but he has plenty to prove. Ground was heavy on stable debut; better expected with cheekpieces back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (10/1 +38%)Path Of Stars |
10/1(+38%) | (4) Path Of Stars 10/1, Ran to form when an 8l third in a handicap hurdle here on her most recent run. Effective over 2m-2m4f and a generally consistent maiden. Maiden who has made the frame in handicap, from 2m to 2m5f; stamina queries. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Apieceovfortune has to be respected following her C&D victory last month, which was her second win in three starts, but preference is for DE DELI COUNTER. Mark Walford's gelding pulled 15 lengths clear of the third when a narrow second at Market Rasen earlier in the month. He is 6lb well in on this occasion and the five-year-old must be respected with that in mind. Castanea Breeze is the pick of the remainder.

De Deli Counter is 6lb higher in future but he's unproven over this far, which is not a concern with CASTANEA BREEZE.

(2) (10/11 +17%)Cooltobecareless |
10/11(+17%) | (2) Cooltobecareless 10/11, Had too much to do but made a very promising debut when second, beaten 2 1/4l, in a bumper at Chepstow latest. That form nothing special. Returning from a break and effective at 2m; more to come under rules with his point win franked. Point winner; it wasn't a strong bumper at Chepstow but showed promise in second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (7/4 -8%)Beau Speed |
7/4(-8%) | (1) Beau Speed 7/4, Beaumec De Houelle gelding; half-brother to Authorised Speed, smart from 16f to 20f, and out of a dam who was high-class at 12f. Trainer in form and gets plenty of first time out winners in this sphere so he could contend. £110,000 3yo and half-brother to five winners including useful Authorised Speed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/1 +8%)Elusive Pb |
6/1(+8%) | (3) Elusive Pb 6/1, Promising debut when third, beaten 8l, in a bumper at Wincanton, benefitting from an easy lead at a sharp track. Tongue-tie on first time and his debut form has been franked at Listed level; should progress. Encouraging third on heavy ground at Chepstow and entitled to build on thay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (66/1 +34%)Potters Honour |
66/1(+34%) | (6) Potters Honour 66/1, Far too free on a modest debut when well beaten in a maiden bumper at Huntingdon on her only start. Off a short break and has all to prove. Always behind and beaten a long way at Huntingdon (good to soft) when a 28-1 chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

COOLTOBECARELESS won a point-to-point a year ago and made a promising start to life under Rules when second at Chepstow in October. With the benefit of that experience, Dan Skelton's gelding could be hard to beat. Elusive Pb also showed ability when third on his racecourse bow at Wincanton, while any market support for Beau Speed would have to be noted.

The Chepstow bumper in which COOLTOBECARELESS ran second has worked out disappointingly but he can improve on that form.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
